Happy Anniversary AFC Richmond!

I can't believe this little place just turned one year old today. <3

I'm more than a little emotional about that. (Honestly I'm a lot emotional if I'm writing all these words about this server...) Over 300 members strong, and still the chattiest and best group I've ever been a part of in all my years of fandom.

What started as a "I need folks to flail at" has become the most vibrant community. We started out as TedTrent and RoyJamie, and have wound up branching into most of the slash ships (shoutout to TedBeard and RoyTrent and the entire AFC Richmond polycule).

We're (still) planning events — including a big bang this summer. For authors, we do lots of sprints for those who like to write "together". (And a long-awaited re-watch when we can figure out time zone math...) It's just an all around chill place to talk about our favorite horny middle aged men who found each other in the most unlikely of places: Richmond.

So if you're still just as obsessed as us (and still just as delulu that S4 is coming one day and will involve Ted getting to smooch a journalist) — come hang out. Lurkers are always welcome, too. We'd love to have you! 💖⚽️

“Could say the same about you, I’ve never seen you in here before.” Trent mentally berated himself on the slip.

Trent smirks just a little. 

“Not tonight though.” Trent assumes.

“No, not tonight.” Roy confirms. 

Which drove Trent crazy. Because what did that mean? Did it mean Roy has seen him before but just not said anything? Was he out in the open because he wanted Trent specifically to find him? Was their meeting coincidental or intentional? There were too many possibilities and it was driving the journalist crazy. 

“I’m surprised, by your color choice. Roy said, raising his red Dom bracelet. “Assumed we’d match.” 

Trent nods.

“Normally, we would. But, after your little,” he clears his throat, “performance today, I'm ‘staycationing’ in submission for the night.”

Roy’s eyebrow raises at the highly American phrase and shakes his head amusedly. 

“I hate what he’s done to us,” Roy says. 

Trent laughs. 

“No, you don’t.”

Roy pumps his eyebrows in agreement but rolls his eyes nonetheless before taking another long sip from his pilsner bottle. 

“So,” Roy says, in a no-nonsense tone that has Trent’s immediate attention. “You want me to hurt you? That it?”

Trent’s smile now turns wicked. 

“Only a little.”

Roy, looks Trent up and down once more. 

“Okay. I could be into that, yeah.”

I could write whole fucking essays about Ted Lasso’s nuanced exploration of class and masculinity and the myriad ways in which men are socialized to hurt one another through the medium of sport but because I’m lazy as hell I simply present these two screencaps in which the boy who was probably bullied in showers just like this one learns that he was, in this instance, the bully. This is so much more than a pandemic era feel-good comedy, I’m just - yeah. Holy shit.
