so i've seen a lot of (really good/thoughtful) critique about how the lords of fortune not stealing from everybody indiscriminately is weird and kind of sanitized and doesn't really make sense in-world, and i see you all, totally agree and think you have very good points but also

i kinda saw them having a Qunari History Artifact Specialist on staff as specifically an Isabela thing as in "last time i stole a random cultural object b/c it was shiny it was a huge pain in the ass actually and i'd like to not do that ever again"

like kind of an in joke with izzy/da2 meta nod more than anything (which fair, doesn't make sense canonically and is jarring in world but i really think it's just there as an isabela joke and not meant to be anything more. i know there's party banter with taash that tries to justify it more which i agree is extra silly-like they're pirates, they should do morally grey pirate things and it's not as fun if they're not a little morally questionable. but i like the idea that isabela specifically is like "okay we should maybe double check if anyone is going to care about this object and follow us through hell and high water just to get it back. there's no way im going to befriend a disaster bisexual willing to fight for me twice")

been a lmk fan for a few months now, and ive gathered a few fandom history questions for the long time fans. mostly stuff about various headcanons that are really popular.

1. rumble and savage: what are they based on? ive seen some posts that make me guess they're inspired by concept art. if so, where did their names come from and how did everyone come to unanimous agreement about said names?

2. glamor: a lot of people use that specific word for "illusion magic that changes your appearance." is this a word that gets used in translations of jttw, or did the fandom organically decide that it'd be our word for that kind of magic? and is the common idea of wukong being under glamor from something in the show, or are people just big enough fans of "scar/scary eye/etc" reveal scenes that it's caught on as a popular headcanon?

3. bai he: ive seen the tag "lady bone demon's vessel is called bai he" a lot, so i'm assuming that's a fandom original. similar to rumble and savage, where did the name come from and how did it become the unanimous headcanon?

4. princess iron fan and macaque being sworn siblings: i'm guessing that this is another thing that became so everpresent just because it's fun to write and draw about, but i wanted to check if it was based on anything in jttw.

5. mk's name: i'm aware that in the chinese dub mk has a full name, and the running joke about teasing his full name without ever saying it is an english dub thing. do any other dubs do interesting things with his name?

6. white fur macaque: does he have white fur in jttw? or is there something in lmk that gave people this idea? what's the history on it?

7. wukong losing powers in s3: ive seen quite a few fics that i'm guessing were written between s2 and s3, in which wukong losing/getting drained of his powers is a plot point. i figured if so many fic authors were writing about it, it must have been a common prediction about what was gonna happen. was this based on how beat up wukong was at the end of s2, or was there some trailer that made people think he was gonna lose his powers?

so, it's been a headcanon of mine for a while now that nish is actually a really good artist. like, he wouldn't consider himself an 'artist' and he generally downplays any reactions he gets to his art. it's just like.. a thing he's done since he was able to manuever a marker in sunflower- drawin on the walls and pissin off kazama hahaha. but like, yeah, growing up it was just so casual, he never really thought much about it. he'd draw anything from kiryu, yumi, yuko and kazama to outfits he saw in display windows when he was out and about. he used to just throw away his sketchbooks and notepads when he filled them up until the others (sin kazama) got onto him, trying to make him see the value in his art. around the time he joined the yakuza, he slowed down a bit. really only drawing as a 'party trick' on a little napkin in bars and shit like that.

anyway, i say all that to say, in my ss stuff, it takes place in the "present" whatever that means to the thing i'm writing at the time. and obviously that means it's a 'nishiki lives' au, right? i often point out in that stuff that he has alot of nightmares from that period of his life. so, with the right motivation, i think he picks up drawing again as a form of therapy. he wouldn't see a shrink if you held a gun to his head but, this? it's actually something that works for him and helps him quite literally paint a picture of the things happening in his mind.
