if you’re ever in the position to choose between giving up and accepting defeat, and actually trying to fight the ancient unkillable god that is about to peel apart reality like a string cheese, remember this: scientifically speaking, you might as well give it a shot!
1.there were trees at the beginning of the world! there were trees so long ago that they predate bacteria that causes wood to decay. when a tree fell, it would lie there in stasis and there wasn’t any way of breaking down wood xylem on a molecular level in that way.
2. it seems obvious to say, but wood eating bacteria are literally incapable of comprehending what they’re breaking down. It’s just not information conciously available to a microorganism. they don’t know what they’re deconstructing, where it came from, bacteria have no way to even fathom the existence of a tree as a concept.
3. Regardless of the facts above, the world we live in today is a world where wood inevitably decomposes
it is worth fighting the unkillable god no matter how pointless it seems. it is worth taking the risk even though youre trying to accomplish something impossible. the reality in which you live was also once reality in which trees didn’t rot. You live in a reality that allows for existence before the possibility of destruction. you live in a reality where uncomprehending microbes break down matter that is so far beyond the scope of their comprehension that it feels comical to specify something so obvious. you live in a reality that occasionally allows unshakeable physical truths to be altered with no warning.
It is worth fighting the unkillable god because trees are so old they predate the source of their destruction, and it still did not spare them. It is worth fighting the unkillable god because bacteria rots unthinkingly, because there is room in our cosmos for destruction without comprehension on the part of the destroyer. It is worth fighting the unkillable god because now and then reality retracts the promise of immortality without fanfare, and when that happens there is no mercy for the ancient. the unmaking is not softer for the desecrators ignorance. for all things, existence is endless until the exact point where it ends.
so you might as well try to kill the unkillable god. it doesn’t seem likely, but at the beginning of the world, trees didn’t rot. so you never know! you never know

I always found it a little funny of how when the chain gets to another time period they usually instantly know if it's theirs or not. Chat, could you recognize your home from a forest?

i'm bothered by how fictionfolk seem to be treated. people want to have healthy standards between fictional identity and reality, but they do it so harshly to where they're discrediting others' fictional identities. they're not "yes, and...", they're just flat-out "no"-ing other's experiences.
source separation just seems to be flat out denying your identity instead of acknowledging how this reality works differently, or accepting the natural growth that occurs when living and learning new things.
it feels like fictional identities are "cool" yet extremely shamed.

Half questioning my memory of the post s4 era, half side eying a certain character, so correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think there was ever a time when the Buddie fandom fully took the single “Evan” from the season 4 finale as Eddie receiving “Evan” privileges from then on. From my recollection, fics stayed mostly consistent with their uses of “Evan” by Eddie, perhaps just with an emphasis on important moments (love confessions, Christopher’s adoption papers, wedding vows, NDEs, etc.) after the finale. And I had to stop myself from wondering why that is because I know why. We all know. Because nobody wanted to use “Evan” in fics when Buck had just told his parents that people who know him call him Buck. So Buddie fandom heard that, accepted it, and uses it only sparingly. In canon and fanon, even Maddie only rarely uses “Evan” anymore, and it feels even less common for her to use post-Buck Begins (if at all, actually). So the fact that Tommy and BT fans tend to use “Evan” (at least, this has been my experience) is so utterly jarring. Buck told everyone his preference, and I believe LFJ has spoken about being told to use only “Evan” when referring to Buck, so I simply do not understand anyone who believes that BT is in love already or endgame. Yes, it could go the “Buck gave Tommy ‘Evan’ privileges off-screen” route, but then why push it off-screen? It would be a major allowance made for a new love interest, and a significant step in Buck’s character arc. Yet we see nothing of the sort. So why would anyone believe that’s what happened? The last we heard, Buck had told his parents and everyone else to call him Buck exclusively, with the minimal exception of Maddie (who was, for most of his childhood, his one and only lifeline and confidant). That sort of history and characterization is not ignored if there is not something very wrong with the writers’ room. It was not even ignored by a significant portion of the fandom post-season 4, although Eddie gaining permanent “Evan” privileges would’ve been a strong indicator of a Buddie endgame (had an on-screen explanation of Eddie gaining this privilege been released). It was not ignored, and it did not change the nature of Buck in fic nor fanon. So why in hell is the same not holding true for a brand new relationship like BT?

One of my favorite scenes, big reason, is Sydney opening up and Carmy experiencing pain for Sydney.
But another thing the scene points out is they these two are not platonic. If they are the type of friends that epitomize a platonic relationship with a work family that feels closer than a family, he would know this about Sydney. Yet, he doesn’t. Syd still holds back when it comes to Carmy.
To be fair, she held back about her mom with Marcus too. But now that it’s clear that Marcus and Sydney have a platonic relationship, there’s an ease in their getting to know one another. Currently, based on what the show has presented, we see Carmy trying to get to know Sydney, who remains reserved about her mother until she can't find a way to put her guard up.
That's the dance with these two Sydney puts her guard up Carmy tries to get to know her- how is that friendship or how is that even what Donna says in season 4? That they're closer than family family?
Maybe because we are just getting started next season on Sydney and Carmy becoming closer?
But really Why is it so difficult for them to hang out and party together? Why is Carmy so hurt by the realization that in not focusing on the restaurant, he's missing out on knowinh Sydney? If it's really about friendship, why are there so many barriers preventing it from developing?
Why is there jealousy? Distrust? The longing to trust and open up instead of just doing it? Why is it so difficult for Carmy and Sydney to talk about their deceased loved ones, unlike the conversations that Natalie and Richie have, or the ones Ebra and Tina share?
Why is it so difficult for Sydney and Carmy to have a conversation like Tina and Marcus did in season 3, episode 9, where they can truly check in with each other and exchange ideas?
It's not platonic, and as of now, I have nothing to show that for Sydney work, family - Carmy is closer to her than family.

me, pacing around frantically: -so while its likely that the mana world map looks weird because it was drawn by a random artist and not a cartographer, it still leaves room for the implication that the entire back half of mana is one enormous tree, instead of the tree being giant but still of a comprehensible size
my mother: well why dont you google it and see what other people think?
me: i can not stress enough that i am the only person in the world who cares

Like my question wasn't that difficult and you answered by copy pasting the support article (which I've read). And like I get it. Some people are that dumb that they will read an email and ask you basic questions that are all answered in the email but I am not one of those people! I go to tech support as a last resort! Your help articles did not answer the questions I had! My first choice was to just stumble around in the software until I figure it out on my own and guess what I'm still going to do? Figure it out on my own.
Like no fucking wondering I still have a hard time asking for help when I don't actually ever get the help I need.
And while I'm at it shout out the the spectrum guy who was like "yeah your laptop probably won't connect to 5g but your phone will" sucks to suck I guess? Like cool buddy the 5g is what I need on my laptop so guess I gotta figure that out on my own too bc they keep updating the internet so fast that if you have a machine that's more than 3 months old you're out of date and fucked! Enjoy the 2g suckers, hope your brain doesn't implode because it takes 3 times as long to do anything on your complex ticketing software.
Choke on grapes bitch. I'm gonna go jump in the lake
God bless tech support people (I am also one of them) but holy fucking shit sometimes going on a tech support chat (especially as a tech support person) really feels like am I the only intelligent life on earth?? I swear!

Sometimes my cats will sit on the speaker in the kitchen and they’ll accidentally press the on button, causing the speaker to turn on and play whatever music was connected to it last and that’s how I ended up having the middle of I’m Doing Pushups by Bears in Trees start blasting in the middle of FaceTiming my grandma

So my town always puts up a Christmas tree and menorah in the center of downtown every year.
I just walked downtown after coming back for Thanksgiving, and they have the tree up, but there is no menorah to be found.
And I think we all know why.
