really recommend getting a partner with a different religion than you and very little knowledge of your religion because the opportunities for explaining things to each other are just exquisite

I love it when the little kids I’m teaching online have complete and total misconceptions of what’s going on. So far, I’ve encountered the following:
1. I had been teaching a little girl for several months, when one day she said to me: “My mother says you’re a real person, not an app. If you’re a real person, show me your husband.”
2. I was about to end a class, but the little girl I was teaching didn’t want the class to end. She turned to her mom and asked if she could please watch one more episode. Turns out she was under the impression that I was a very interactive TV program.
3. I couldn’t find my marker in class today. The boy I was teaching was like, “What’s your apartment number? I’ll come up and help you find it!” The boy lives in China and I live in the United States. I guess most people he knows live in the same building as him, so he assumed I did too.
4. I had been teaching a kid for quite some time when I mentioned my age in class. She was like, “Wait, you’re an adult????” She’d thought I was twelve.

Me when I see the word beaʃte
In my head: ah! The archaic form of the letter s! Being a casual scholar of linguistics myself I am well aware that though it resembles the letter f in modern typography in fact it is phonetically identical to s! How foolish it would be to stumble into such a simple lexiconical pitfall!
Me aloud to myself every time: beeft

Keep hitting Last milestones at my job and it's weird because I can't really celebrate them with my British Boss and coworker i never came up with a code name for because a) I think my boss is secretly mad I'm leaving, and b) my coworker is very sad I'm leaving and keeps dramatically saying stuff like "I can't believe you're leaving me" and "what am I going to do without you" (all real and valid emotions bc as she's discovered, we work in the bad place lol).
So here are my lasts worth celebrating!
Last time front of house managing a main stage show!
Last time working past 10pm!
Last Out of the Box show! (This is actually kind of sad because that's our disability theatre troupe that I've been volunteering with for over a decade)
Last youth audition where 150 moms email me to schedule their kids audition!
Last poster I have to order and pick up from office depot at the Southgate plaza that was in Edward Scissorhands!
Last mixed berry lemonade far stage right!
There will be more lasts to come, and a bunch that have already passed before I even told anyone I was moving.
#im just glad we might have actually found someone to replace me 😭😭#also i know im making some obvious statements now about where i work and i havent before#so if you know me no you dont lol

I think the most unintentionally pretentious part of me is I genuinely forget that most people do not have a near-encyclopedic knowledge of mythology and folklore. I literally just assume most people know at least the name of every Greek god. My mom and I were watching the Banshees of Inisherin and at the start, she asked "Do you know what a banshee is?" and I was so stunned because it would never occur to me to ask that question because I would never assume the average person doesn't know what a banshee is. The average person knows what a banshee is right. You know what a banshee is right. You know the names of the greek gods right. You know that norse myth where loki fucked the horse right. Right. RIGHT

I love Aabria's choices so much. Karna the dead spicy pepper? Burrow's End the true horror season? The bear battle map? Undead creachers just vibin' (shout out to Tula who died and just kept going anyway). Everything in the world building for Misfits and Magic season 2 (Joanne could NEVER). Like, I see an Aabria Iyengar season and I know it's going to feed my soul.
#also acofaf?? yes please. but that is a different flavor and to me these seasons/characters are ghost themed#oops took 20+ years for me to realize ghosts were a special interest#aabria iyengar#dimension 20#the ravening war#burrows end#misfits and magic 2

kind of obsessed with the idea of the rest of the gaang leaving Toph and Zuko to watch over some cooking food and when they come back its burned and Katara starts fuming but Toph and Zuko are like “we’ve never stepped inside a kitchen in our lives and only have one eye between us, if anything it’s your fault”
