@purgatoan (o indulgent one) tagged me to name 10 songs I’m obsessed with right now, and presuming that obsessed just means listening to a lot and not, like, rubbing pictures of the singer’s face over my naked body, I can do that. Then I’m supposed to tag ten people to share their songs, too. 

The songs I tend to listen to most tend to be the ones I’ve most recently found on Spotify, so here’s a glimpse at my recently-added list.

1. Pushin’ Against A Stone - Valerie June. Heard her on NPR and she’s a treat.

2. Oatmeal - Sudan Archives. Semi-electronic violin? Neat vibe.

3. Disillusioned - A Perfect Circle. NEW SONG!!!! Also kinda ends twice.

4. Polk Salad Annie - Tony Joe White. His voice comes from his feet.

5. The Prey - Treasurefruit. Could be on a Tarantino soundtrack.

6. Come Together - Gary Clark Jr. & Junkie XL. I literally just learned this was on the Justice League soundtrack? ...That makes sense. It’s very Zach.

7. Colder Weather - Zac Brown Band. I really like the first two and last minutes of this song. Great lyrics. Country twang is unfortunate.

8. Old Man - The Wailin’ Jennys. I just love them. 

9. Better Not Wake The Baby - The Decemberists. Colin Meloy is great.

10. The Pusher - Blind Melon. I miss Shannon. :(

You can make your own judgement as to the meaning of obsessed. If it’s like a Velvet Goldmine situation, then more power to you.

Incredibly thankful to have been a part of this year's @sideponyexpress. It was an honor to be part of something full of so much damn talent, hard work, and creativity. Community x Culture x Charity = McDowell Mountain Music Festival

Festival season may seem like it’s a long time away,  but in Phoenix, things are already heating up as their signature festival for more than a decade, McDowell Mountain Music Festival, has released it’s 2018 lineup, and it is rather spectacular.

This will be 3MF’s 17th year of providing a completely not-for-profit festival in the Valley of the Sun, but it didn’t really start to take on such formidable lineups until it’s 10-Year birthday party and big move from the outskirts of town to the heart of downtown Phoenix 2012. A  year that included some of the festival’s biggest headliners to that point The Roots, The Shins, and Umphrey’s McGee.

For 2018 3MF has tapped the likes of Big Gigantic, Griz, Nick Murphy (formerly Chet Faker), and act to be named later for their headlining slots. With Gorgon City, Cut Copy, Com Truise, THe Motet, and Dr, Dog among many others bringing up the mid-card. As well as a formidable local selection which includes Phoenix supergroup The Phoenix Afrobeat Orchestra, Wyves, Jerusafunk, Treasurefruit, and many more.

A three-day ticket right now is just about $87 with fees so if Phoenix Arizona isn’t too far out the way this festival on the first weekend of March is an absolute steal.
