Rewatching Treasure Planet for the 1000 time so here are my brain brrr thoughts/ things i noticed...
• During the opening scene where Jim is freely Solar Surfing the area, the music that plays over it comes back again in different tones: when they take off from the spaceport, when escaping the supernova and when Jim saves them from the planets destruction and that's pretty poetic
• I was thinking "why are they the only humans" but then why is anyone one species. I dont think you see 2 of the same species around. It also makes sence since they own/work at an Inn and the movie takes place on other alien planets
• Amelia from the start clearly states she doesn't like the crew Delbert hired, yet she doesn't push for him to hire a new crew or anything. She maybe be the captain and a really good one, but in a way (despite what Delbert says) she does know who she's working for
• Amelia and Arrows' whole dynamic. "I said something rather good before coffee" (- Amliea) they're besties
• Doplers bulky suit runs on 3 AA type batteries 😂
• When Silver said to Jim "I have two new friends I'd like you to meet" before he revealed it was a joke to do chores, Jim looked genuinely interested in new people to meet. He's finally on a spacing adventure that is based on his favourite legend since childhood and he gets back to doing more things he was doing at the Benbow, so I think his disappointment is some what valid
• Silvers crew either severely sucked up and faked their resumes and/or took out any competition to get that job, which is why they got the job and not a better crew
• Jim built his first Solar Sufer when he was 8 and probably did it as a way to be closer to his dad (I think he was still around at that age)
• In the flashback of his dad leaving, Jim woke up startled and worried. It then cuts to his dad already walking away then his mother crying at the table, so they probably had a massive fight as he was leaving which woke Jim up. They probably fought a bit before hand as well
• Morph turned into a wrench to help Silver, so Morph can hold the weight/strength of things he shapeshifts into
• Its been pointed out that Jim's cloths are a symbolism of his development. He starts with a black shirt and jacket then a tan shirt and black jacket and by the end its just the tan shirt.
He gets the tan shirt and black jacket when they start the voyage, but loses the jacket part way through the "I'm still here" sequence. He wears it again after Arrows death then loses it again when Silvers true intentions are revealed to him.
• Jim and Silver did fasten their lifelines after being told to - during the supernova - but they had to undo them to get the sail at the front of the ship. So if Jim hadn't caught Silver when he fell, even his lifeline would t have helped him
• When bracing themselves for the last Migella in the Supernova, Silver holds Jim and the pole, looking down to make sure he's ok
• At the start of the movie Jim uses a Purp to sus out Silver, and its the same Purp barrel Jim is hiding in when he overhears what Silver says to the crew
- Jim using the purps to try and hint that he's onto Silver vs Scroop using the purp to emphasise that Silvers gone soft
• Treasure Planet was using drabooln currency before tiktok deemed it cool
• The parallels in Arrows and Scroops deaths.
Bonus cause:
Scroop: Do say hello to Mr Arrow
Jim: Tell him yourself!
• When trying to find the gate, the crew threaten to kill Jim but Silver looks worried. When he says "I suggest you get the gizmo going again and fast!" It was more a warning, cause he looks scared for Jim when they prepare to attack him...
• B.E.Ns eyes going from green to blue I think is a little clever bit of symbolism. They started green which was the colour of Treasure Planet (map, portal etc) and then when he got his memory circut back and could help them get out, they changed to blue
• Morph, Morphs into things around him, which is why he copies what people say, he's Morphing/copies their words
• When Silver is saying goodbye to Jim he smiles up at him, showing his non cyborg side
Hope you enjoyed, feel free to tell me your thoughts on this movie, that I feel normal about

So as some of you may know, I watched the Rise movie with my Dad, a seasoned TMNT fan and my current network into the mind of genius Donatello.
He has reason to believe that after the events of the movie Donnie would be depressed and thoroughly agrees that Donnie received damage being pulled apart from the ship. Not in the way I thought, but in
He wholeheartedly believes Donnie would not be the same after his experience connected to krang ship. That man and machine as one is the pinacle of Donnie’s life, and nothing he experiences further will ever match that moment.
Techbo: useless. Artificial Intelligence: overrated. Battle Shell: who needs it.
He’ll either stop creating entirely, believing nothing will ever match that moment, or create rapidly until he can achieve the same level of technology The krang had, leading him to drastic measures.
Extracting what’s left of the krang in your brother as to try and recreate the bond Krang had with technology. Contemplating opening the doorway to extract the treasure trove of ancient alien tech he could analyse. Interrogating the remaining Krang on the planet and collecting samples just to TRY and recreate that moment, that feeling.
But it’s also just silly to imagine him being soooo affected by it.
Leo: (wrapped in bandages and using crutches to get around) De, you okay buddy?
Donnie: No, Leo! Things will never be the same!
Leo: Hey, don’t worry, after we rebuild New York and we all heal up, it will be like the krang were never here.
Donnie: *not what he was referring to at all*
I feel like this has amazing meme potential.
#wabbystuffpost#I’m playing with it like a joke#but really it’s kinda angsty#Donnie fans go wild#donnie angst#rottmnt post movie#Rottmnt#unpause rottmnt#if you’re reading this it’s your obligation to reblog#hahaha#or not#but that’s just a theory#rottmnt donnie#my dad is cool#TMNT#the memes could be funny though#I may make some if I feel like it#angst potential#😏 I’m looking at you fic writers

Are the ArchieSonic comics actually an 80's/90's syndicated cartoon? Episode 58: We have to save the environment, and so do you!
Welcome back to my look at the ArchieSonic comic series, and how it shared a lot of the same story tropes as a typical ‘80s or ‘90s syndicated cartoon! Hey kids, did you know that saving the environment is a totally radical thing to do?
Episode 58: We have to save the environment, and so do you!
Environmentalism was a big part of cartoons in the 80’s and 90’s, which often would have episodes dedicated to telling kids about the dangers of pollution or the importance of recycling. There were some cartoons whose entire premise even revolved around this, such as Captain Planet and the Planeteers, and Widget the World Watcher.
Many ArchieSonic stories used environmentalism as a plot device, especially in the early issues. But that’s to be expected when the main villain of the series likes polluting just for the sake of polluting. Honestly, Dr. Robotnik would have fit in quite well with the Captain Planet villains.
Let’s start by looking at issue #3’s story, “The Bomb Bugs Me!” where Sonic overheard Robotnik planning to wipe out his enemies with a bomb. The Freedom Fighters decided to set up a fake protest to keep Robotnik and his forces occupied while they stole the bomb.
This led to a pretty funny sequence where Rotor attempted to sneak into Robotnik’s office in disguise.
But when they got the bomb back to Knothole and attempted to disarm it, it turned out to be not what they were expecting:
Whoopsie doopsie.
Then there was issue #7’s story, “Uncle Chuck’s Treasure.” After coming across a treasure map belonging to Sonic’s Uncle Chuck, the Freedom Fighters headed out to the Natural Park to track the treasure down. Things didn’t exactly go to plan though.
To make matters worse, a pair of patrolling Swatbots overheard the Freedom Fighters were on a treasure hunt and informed Dr Robotnik, who came roaring in with a bunch of badniks to ruin the day.
Sonic cleverly turned the toxic environment against the robots, but Robotnik managed to get away with the treasure.
For all the good it did him. 😛
Issue #11’s story, “The Good, the Bad and the Hedgehog,” started out with Robotnik trashing the environment again, but took an unexpected turn when Sonic tried to take a shortcut to get there quicker and accidentally wound up on Anti-Mobius, encountering his evil twin for the first time.
But of course Sonic managed to defeat him and get home in time to save the day.
Issue #12’s story switched gears a little bit with Robotnik being savvy enough to use his anti-environmentalism to lure Sonic into a trap. When Robotnik started cutting down the Great Forest with his new mobile monster chainsaw, Sonic of course raced to stop him.
But the chainsaw secretly housed a time teleporter that was able to zap Sonic when he got close enough and send him back to dinosaur times. …and then this happened.
Bleh.
There are probably other issues from those early days that I could cite, but you get the idea. After the comics had been around a couple of years there was less focus on stories about pollution, but they still popped up every now and then. One of the most significant stories to focus on saving the environment was in issue #110. In a prior issue, Princess Sally had turned over all intelligence they had on Dr. Eggman to their allies in Station Square. Unfortunately Station Square’s defense systems were run by an AI, and after that AI had analysed all the data it had decided that Dr. Eggman was a threat that had to be taken care of immediately. Thus it decided to go full Skynet and launch nuclear missiles at Robotropolis. That was great news in that Eggman would be wiped out, but not so great news for the residents of Knothole, who would get poisoned by the nuclear radiation.
Sonic and Tails raced to Robotropolis to warn Eggman of the incoming peril so that he would shoot down the missiles before they got too close, but Eggman smugly reminded them that he didn’t need to do that - his impenetrable forcefield would keep his city safe while the surrounding environment got wasted. Luckily Sonic and Tails were able to interfere and made sure that Eggman only activated the forcefield after the missiles were already within its radius.
Eggman and Snively were robots and so they were eventually able to download themselves into new bodies, but they had to set up a new base of operations because from this moment onwards Robotropolis was a nuclear wasteland contained within a radiation-proof bubble.
You would think that after getting nuked that that would be the last we’d hear of Robotropolis, right? Well actually no - that radioactive wasteland actually came back as an ongoing plot point. When Sonic returned home from space in issue #130, Eggman decided to give him a homecoming present. And what does one get the hedgehog who has everything?
Why, more nuclear missiles of course! One was aimed at Knothole, and the other at Station Square. And deciding that overkill was just enough kill, Eggman decided to throw in a bonus gift by sending his robotic armies to destroy the forcefield keeping Robotropolis’ nuclear radiation safely contained. While Sonic and Tails led a team to Old Megapolis Harbour to stop the missile launch, King Acorn’s forces, led by Antoine’s father General D’Coolette, defended Robotropolis from the incoming horde of Swatbots.
Knuckles, Julie-Su and Mighty came to lend a hand too, and they were also joined by Rouge and the forces of GUN. But play of the day goes to Vector and Amy Rose, who single-handedly took down the first waves of invaders.
The ruins of Robotropolis wouldn’t come up again for awhile, until after the AI ADAM attempted to take over the planet with self-replicating nanites. After that plot was thwarted Nicole took control of the nanites and used them to create the city of New Mobotropolis, which was incredibly convenient when Eggman bombed Knothole and everyone needed a new place to live.
New Mobotropolis got its energy from a power plant that siphoned radiation from the ruins of Robotropolis and converted it into safe, clean energy. So in issue #207 the Iron King attacked Robotropolis with the intention of taking away the Freedom Fighters’ power source.
King Acorn’s armies tried to fight him off unsuccessfully, and Sonic and Monkey Khan also struggled to slow him down when they showed up to join the fight. Sonic managed to outsmart the Iron King though, talking him into sparing the shield protecting the environment if Sonic and Monkey Khan allowed him to smash the power siphon that powered New Mobotropolis.
The forces of evil were not happy when they later found out they’d been played.
After Eggman returned to power he also tried to strike at New Mobotropolis’ power source, this time by sending in an undercover agent to strike from within: Operation: Deadly Cuddles.
I will never for the life of me be able to figure out why Evan Stanley decided to design the Tails Doll’s monster form to look like a… that, but I guess I get the genital… er, general idea of what she was going for. 😛
In the post-reboot era of the comic, one could argue that the entire series became about saving the environment. With the entire planet shattered in the Sonic Unleashed adaptation, the main goal of the heroes became to save the planet and put the pieces back together. But there are two environmentally-focused stories that immediately spring to my mind, both of them taking place from issues in issues #260 - 263: Waves of Change and Light in the Dark (and its immediate follow up, Consequences).
Sonic, Rotor and Amy were sent on a mission to locate a possible Gaia Temple on the coast, presumably somewhere in Soumerica. What they found instead was an underwater shrine that was being used as a chao garden, under the care of the priestess Coral, along with her apprentice Pearly and friend Razor.
Coral’s job was to care for the chao, in particular Aquarius, who helped to maintain the shield that protected the nearby city of Meropis. Coral was still somewhat new to her position and under a lot of pressure, facing prejudice from the royal family and armies of Meropis who were blaming her for everything that was going wrong and thought that Princess Udina should have gotten the job instead. One of the problems Coral was being blamed for was pollution being washed into the city that was only being kept at bay by the shield. When Aquarius the Chao failed to be reborn from her cocoon on schedule, the King and Queen threw a temper-tantrum and stripped Coral of her title as priestess. Things got pretty bad as the devastated Coral was unable to keep the shield up, letting the dark gaia monsters into the city.
It took the intervention of the Freedom Fighters, Chaos, Tikal, and the newly reborn and now-immortal Aquarius to save the day.
Thankfully with the God of Destruction Water vouching for Coral, the King and Queen saw reason and restored her title. The cause of the pollution plaguing their city was also discovered:
While Sonic, Amy and Rotor were busy in Meropis, Sally was leading Tails, Bunnie and Antoine on a mission to recover a Chaos Emerald. Sally had managed to hack Dr. Eggman’s files, and she and Nicole discovered a mine where Eggman had his forces digging for one of the mystical gems. The plan was to disable the security sensors, get in, find the emerald, and get back out without Eggman ever knowing they were there, so that he would waste his time and resources drilling for something that wasn’t even there any more. However that plan changed when they got inside the mine and saw it for themselves.
Deciding to do their bit to save this environmental wonder, the heroes let the security sensors detect them and fought off badniks and an E-1000 robot to escape the mine with their prize, giving Eggman no more reasons to continue drilling there.
The Freedom Fighters knew that there would be consequences for letting Eggman know that they'd stolen something he'd already called dibs on, but they decided they could live with that.
Are there any other environmentally-focused stories in ArchieSonic that I missed? Let me know in the comments! Next week I’ll be covering episode 59: “stranded in the ocean.” Sonic’s favourite episode, clearly. :P

Trigun Stampede - Episode 3 review; well, that escalated quickly.
Another Saturday has arrived here in North America and the new episode of Trigun Stampede has dropped. Knives is making his first appearance in the present along with various characters from the anime/manga assisting him in his quest to destroy humanity on the planet.
A note for those who are reading my meta for the first time - I like to do indepth analyses looking at various themes, links to other media and anything else that strikes my fancy at the moment. If this is not your cup of tea, you likely will not enjoy my metas. If you want more context for my format, please feel free to look at my archive and skim my chapter summaries for Golden Kamuy which were either single or two chapter summaries that followed the manga in real time.
Sorry for the interruption! Let’s get back to the action with Knives in the desert. He shows full true villain form by walking to Jeneora Rock, by foot and barefoot in an approaching a sandstorm? It seems that his attack on the city is likely coordinated with the sandstorm since everyone is running to the main street for shelter. Or is the sandstorm a feint for the chaos to confuse the city, since no sandstorm ever arrives?
We get an awkward shot of our core group of named people and Rosa finally confirms that she must be pregnant by holding her belly as she struggles with Tonis. I’d have to admit, I spent the first two episodes trying to determine if she was pregnant or not but this seems to confirm it.
The action continues to be going at a rapid pace in this episode as more of the phage virus bombs attach themselves to everyone. Roberto continues to be our source of information stating that these bombs have to be the work of the ‘Easy Bomber’ Ethan Gilbert Hamilton. Due to the information that our seasoned reporter knows, Vash quickly figures out where he is watching them from and fires a single bullet at him to flush him out. As the citizens rush out of the city, a few more are taken out by a landmine.
This then allows for the transition to the anime/manga name of E.G. the Mine, who introduces himself to the group stating that he’d been upgraded by someone. It then cuts to the OP.
After the OP, E.G. hops into his roller cage in search of the treasure, which Vash immediately realizes is the plant. The animation shows what E.G. can see on his visor as CGI in a CGI animation to lead him to the plant to steal. He drops little bombs to try to trip up anyone chasing him up the stairs. I’m going to assume he was able to avoid his landmines as he spins off across the sand before hitting the metal of the city structure but I’ll come back to this later.
While Vash is chasing E.G., Roberto and Meryl are talking about what makes him the humanoid typhoon. This is Roberto explicitly explaining that his nickname explains the chaos that surrounds him and how you get swept up on it. His grim suicide joke about the bomb on his back, gives Meryl and idea.
Vash gets tossed around as E.G. tries to escape with the plant, now between the wider wheelbase of his roller cage? Tire? I dunno what to call it so roller cage it is.
As it is rolling back down the stairs, Meryl and Roberto approach and they just sort of stand there. Which results in Roberto jumping in to protect Meryl from being run over. I’m not entirely sure why they decided this was a good idea.
However, it gives me a good idea that each time Roberto either tosses/pulls/pushes Meryl out of the way from being hurt might be a good drinking game prompt.
While this is going on, Vash is yelling at him to disable the bombs since he already stole the plant. Yet, E.G. wants to use the act of stealing to allow him to kill all the civilians of the town. Vash pulls his gun and points it directly at him and we see our first very serious Vash facial expression here.
There is even a zoom in to see the nervous swallowing as the barrel of the gun is pointing at him.
It appears that this is enough to break his concentration and he veers off course, ultimately flying off the structures and back onto the sand. With Vash knocked off as well, he loses hold of his gun giving E.G. the opportunity to pick it up and aim it at Vash, basking in his ability to defeat the feared humanoid typhoon.
The awkward pair of Roberto and Meryl rush in with Roberto calling E.G. by his former nickname distracting him for a tackle, while Meryl uses her camera flash to slip by and grab onto his arm with the gun.
This is where Meryl’s brilliant ideal comes to fruition as they latch onto him with the literal time bombs on their backs. With their assistance Vash leaps into action and gets him in a stranglehold from behind. We get to see some angry Vash eyebrows here. Anyone else getting the eyebrow vibes of Amaro from FLCL? Not as thick but similar in the dark contrasting nori color. It might just be me.
And by threatening to blow him sky high along with them, E.G. caves almost immediately and Vash pushes a red button on his back. Okaaaaay. Sure. That completely solved the crisis. The phage bombs disarm and fall off of everyone at 8:30 into the episode. I’m also going to assume that this also disabled all the landmines since no other landmines explode the entire rest of the episode. What was the point of laying all those landmines to only use one in the plot?
With that, based on both the manga and anime, we can say our goodbyes to E.G. the Mine as he’s failed in his task to both steal the plant and kill the populace of the city. Roberto is the one to tie his hands behind his back with a simple rope and Nebraska wants his revenge but Vash stands between the two. Again, Vash is asked ‘Whose side are you on?’ This is something which also appears to be a statement that everyone likes to say to Vash. I’d like to give the writers the benefit of the doubt on this narrative catchphrase, but it comes off as lazy writing. I think you can achieve this by different characters using other statements that still get to the point that Vash isn’t on anyone’s side. Which makes me wonder why everyone is so fixated on the concept of a certain ‘side’.
However, Vash is distracted and turns to look back up to the saloon that is called a diner with an expression of shock and then fear. Below the swinging doors we can see a figure in silver seated at the upright piano, playing the tune that everyone else can hear. We saw the upright saloon style piano in episodes 1 and 2, which fits in the Western decor.
However, this threw me for a loop as I wasn’t expecting the piano to sound like more classical style piano. I would have expected to hear the tune on a piano like the one below. Yes, the music on the piano below is more ragtime tunes, but it is the sound that matches the old time Western feel. By having an old upright saloon style piano the visual matches a Western look but the sound is completely clean and modern, again highlighting this version of Trigun Stampede is sci fi more than anything else. I honestly thought when the music started playing it was just a dramatic cue from the OST to let us know that Knives was here and things were going to get heavy, not that he was literally playing the piano. Do we know that this is now his theme music? Yes 100%. It would be harder to make dramatic sounding music with a saloon style piano - you’d have to dig into the dramatic soundtracks from old silent films to get a similar vibe.
youtube
The sci fi versus Western vibe contrast is highlighted by how the anime leaned into that older tech feel. I don’t think it is quite fair to compare it with the manga since there is no OST, though the overall visual style is very much Western.
Episode 2, ‘Truth of Mistake’ from Trigun had this nice little insert here with the old phonograph with a heat warped record. It really highlights how the original team at Madhouse leaned into the Western aesthetic with the old and warped feeling to the sound making the ‘wah waah’ as the record played.
What all of this is telling us by episode 3 is that Trigun Stampede is most definitely not Trigun nor the Trigun Maximum manga. It is something completely different and the Western vibe has been only transferred over at a superficial level thus far. This is a sci fi series on a desert planet with a general feeling of lawlessness but it is not equivalent to the myth of the wild west popularized by American media after WWII.
This was in part a cold war era tactic to solidify a made up American identity of the lone white straight male gunslinger in the public consciousnesses. Which is totally not accurate but that’s the American media industrial complex at work! If you want to learn more about this, I’d suggest watching these videos by Kaz Rowe here about the much more diverse history of the wild west in terms of sexual orientation and race. Having lived in a city for almost eight years, where Billy the Kid stayed in a certain building (there’s a plaque to prove it!), it is pretty obvious that many of the people of the past living in the region were not white men based on demographics alone.
youtube
and here:
youtube
We know for a fact that Yasuhiro Nightow is of the right age to have grown up watching American media that fed into the original lone gunslinger myth and that there was a lot of trans Pacific crosstalk between American media and Japanese media, specifically samurai films and wild west films. Keep in mind that Gintama also feeds into this as it has the samurai theme of chambara which plays into that dialogue with American wild westerns.
This was a rather long winded tangent to note that the media around the wild west is more complicated than just ‘white dude shoot gun at bad guys’ - and that due to this media awareness, the original manga and the anime by Madhouse are adding to this visual language across the Pacific based on their own age and demographic backgrounds. I find it nice that Trigun Maximum has a diverse and queer cast and that Kas Rowe’s own research dovetails with that nicely in the videos above. It is like a little bonus the more you think about it.
Back to the episode!
After listening to the piano a bit, Vash screams at everyone to flee the town immediately. He knows who is playing it and knows it will end very badly. E.G. escapes despite Nebraska trying to shoot at him and most of the group scatters. Roberto and Meryl smartly flee while Rosa looks at the plant and seems to be torn.
E.G. excitedly rushes to Knives to ‘grace him with his presence’ which promptly gets him death by blood loss due to both of his arms being cut off. Welp, it was nice to know you E.G. . . . I guess this version of the Gung-Ho Guns don’t have the succeed or die pact as a rule? Like Vash, I’m not a huge fan of lots of blood and gore, so even though the manga had some pretty gross stuff, I’m not thrilled to see it in the anime.
Taking his time, Vash slowly approaches Knives entering the room and aiming his gun at his brother. Based on their conversation, it has been a long time between they last saw each other and it is clear that Vash isn’t clear on Knives intentions behind stealing the plants.
At least he’s articulate in his intentions with strong working of taking it back and that it ‘belongs’ to him. Before immediately correcting that the plant belongs to the both of them. Of course Vash is against the theft of the plant as the town would die which then prompts even Knives to ask him ‘whose side are you on?’
So again, we have this concept of ‘sides’ which remains unclear in the first three episodes since there have never been any clear factions defined. We know that there are general civilians, criminal elements like the Nebraskas, corrupt military police, Knives and his Gung-Ho Guns (to be revealed); however, the conflict between them is muddy at best at this point in the narrative. Definitely not keen on this set up.
The two of them both realize neither has changed over the years and then Knives is able to toss Vash’s mind into a sort of other state where he’s still a child and he points out he still can’t do some sort of fundamental ability as a plant, which leaves him frozen in place. Child Vash cries out to Nai from the other plane and the action shifts to Nebraska still on the quest for revenge for his son’s death.
Nebraska gets an arm chopped off by Knives to allow for him to build his bad ass boss character and Vash cries out to Nai to stop. This third episode also makes it clear that the markings on Vash and Knives are not a tunic underneath but instead some aspect of their plant-ness as they fade out around the ankles and wrist. This is why we see Vash wearing a turtleneck, to cover up the markings.
Knives is making his way to the top of the structure when a vehicle pulls up; Grey the Ninelives appears to be a robot in this version like the original anime. We also get a man in a suit with a briefcase leading a young girl to the location who is also barefoot.
Knives continues to leisurely and barefoot (eeewww) stroll up to the top of the structure. I know this is a stylistic choice, but the sand and grit that would have stuck to his bloody feet is just - ick. Think of how it would feel between your toes.
Rosa and the two unnamed mothers race to the top of the stairs to make a stand against Knives and Grey delivers Conrad and the young girl. He tells them to stand down, which is good advice in this situation.
Knives remarks that the Doctor has arrived and tells him to retrieve the other plant. They leave and Knives handles the three women. To fit his name of Millions Knives, he uses his nanotech chains of razor blades to make quick work of the two nameless women, slicing them up, leaving Rosa with her friend’s hand only. Rosa in shock retreats back into a wall as Knives uses his razor blade chains to skip over her. I’m going to guess that he didn’t kill her because she was pregnant and not that she would no longer put up any resistance after seeing her friends exploded before her on eyes.
Vash has caught up to Knives again and tells him to stop. His gun still has the weird frosty bit from Knives on it and Knives asks him again ‘Whose side are you on?’ as he removes the dying plant as well.
Meanwhile, Roberto and Meryl find Tonis hiding since that’s what is mom told him to do. As they somehow know that Rosa went back into the town?
The action jumps back to the Vash-Knives showdown where Vash tries to shoot through the chain of razors and Knives mocks him for trying to shoot his own brother.
This allows for Knives to go into true villain form by getting all old testament. with his line of ‘In the past, God rained fire from the sky, destroying the city of depraved fools.’ We know that Knives is taking this out of context as he knows that many people on the planet are just trying to survive as indicated by Rosa and her behaviors. This isn’t a Sodom and Gomorrah parallel but we know that Knives has his own plan for things.
Vash again is in utter shock realizing that he intends to destroy the entire town and he tells Rosa in absolute fear to run. With his advanced nanotech razor knives, he slices up the namesake rock of the town. Evil organ music plays as Knives laughs and Vash pulls shell shocked Rosa away.
Grey with the unnamed girl escape with the healthy plant, while Knives takes hold of the dying plant with his razor chain. Vash asks aloud why Nai is doing this as he pulls Rosa along as the rock collapses.
As the area collapses, Meryl tries to hold onto Tonis, but he falls from the unstable structure as Roberto holds onto her. He later pulls her out of the rubble before she rushes to see how Vash and Rosa are only to see that Tonis had somehow lost an arm in the fall?
Rosa monologues that they are lost; they lost the town, the plant and people died. And since Knives is Vash’s brother she tells him to leave. It is his fault that their town was destroyed and if he’d never have come there, this wouldn’t have happened. Silently, Vash picks up his bag, dusts it off a little and begins to walk off into the moonlight night as Meryl chases after him.
He stops for her and picks up Tonis’ cage of insects which glow and he releases them into the night sky as he smiles sadly and Meryl asks him why. He with his sad smile then replies that he doesn’t deserve to cry.
And he continues to walk, heading east to July where he knows that Knives is. It is unclear from the context to far if July is still a functional city and Knives is living there or if the Lost July incident has already occurred and Knives is living there. We didn’t get much from the establishing shot in episode 1. This is pretty much it with what I’m assuming are the puppet vultures from the original. But since Vash was attacked by the corrupt Military Police from July, it implies that there is still some sembelance of order in July and maybe they were even trying to get the money to pay for something in July that is the result of Knives actions?
And with Vash walking off into the night, the episode ends.
Overall impressions:
This episode was less cohesive than the first two. The pacing seemed a bit off and it kept flipping back and forth too much between locations and characters. E.G. the Mine shows up, reeks havoc, surrenders only to be killed by Knives. It leaned into the scif fi aspect even more with E.G.’s simulated cage view bit and the appearance of Conrad who is only in the manga but had helped Knives out (he had no choice) and even examined Vash for Knives to determine who had the better angelic power potential (Vash). This episode was an opportunity to demonstrate how ruthless Knives is with all the slicing and dicing of people.
Themes thus far into the narrative:
i.) Brotherly conflict - 100% confirmed as a major theme in this version. This is much more at the forefront of the story with the reunion, Vash being tossed into the other plane due to the lack of his development of his own powers. Knives being a terrible older brother, and Vash asking ‘why’ and Knives never answering him. All in all, Vash being owned by Knives.
They also show that neither of them has changed since their last meeting and unknown number of years ago. We don’t have enough background to know if it was 80, 130 or 150 etc.
ii.) Unclear concept of sides - Good or bad, the team at Studio Orange want to beat into your head the theme of ‘sides’. Rosa, Roberto, Nebraska, Knives they all ask Vash about his side. Unfortunately, we are lacking the context and world building to understand what all the possible sides are with clarity.
Vash’s side is likely respect for all life, but that is based on the anime and manga knowledge of him.
Rosa’s (general civilians) side is to scrape by. Make a living and anyone who prevents this is their enemy.
Criminal elements’ (either corrupt July MP or Nebraskas) side is to do crime and profit from it.
Knives‘ side is to exterminate all humanity, claim all the plants for himself for something. We have no idea if he will follow Trigun Maximum in this objective.
This is the best I can come up with for the moment. I think the creative team wants to show how nice their CGI is and are really trying to milk the action scenes but it leaves little room for characters to breathe. Honestly, their animation is quite good, it is clear they are a great animation studio in that regard. I see no issues with their quality factor. However, their storytelling and narrative structure is not their strong suit as far as I can tell. I know they did Beastars but that was a very direct adaptation of the manga, to the extent of my knowledge. Beastars manga readers weigh in if I’m off about their adaptaion.
Another friend noted that the character designs are generic which upon hearing that, makes sense for me. They do look generic in the way many of the isekai animes fall into expected looks for characters.
iii.) Barefootness/footprints in the sand - means something. What it is I don’t know yet. Knives apparently likes to feel the things between his toes, and the unnamed girl is also barefoot with Conrad. We’ve seen lots of visual framing with footprints - Knives approaching Jeneora, Vash following the wheel tracks and then Meryl chasing after him. Footprints and tracks in sand specifically have a strong sense of impermanence associated with them as the winds quickly shift the sand and remove all traces of your path. Does this mean you are literally a speck of sand in the universe? Or that you are important even though your mark is limited?
Does being barefoot imply a closeness to nature? To God? To both?
For me, the concept of being barefoot in the desert is - ick, ouch, stabby-stabby pain in your feet. A good descriptor of walking in a desert is pointy rocks and pointy plants, meaning you always want to wear protective footwear. Sure, you can wear sandals, but don’t do so during spring dust storm season. The grit between your toes is unpleasant. This sort of feeds into my thoughts of the superficial feeling of the wild west that Trigun Stampede is using. It looks like it but less of the logistics with these shoe-less people running around. That’s why in the original everyone just wears normal shoes. Knives can get away with his lack of clothing at times in the manga since he never walks around casually outside - he’s always in a building, ship or someplace. What Knives is not is someone who’s out for an afternoon stroll in the desert landscape in these versions.
Characters and general observations:
Vash - With his reunion with Nai, it is immediately clear that the two are polar opposites and Vash does not understand at all what his brother is doing. Vash seems to flip between being befuddled by his brother or sad rejection boi. We don’t get any example of his skill as a gunman in this episode or his creative solutions to problems. Just a lot of confused pleading or angry about not being able to save everyone and get along. Manga Vash was pretty sad and guilt ridden as well, but he still had a sense of humor to lighten the load. Stampede Vash currently seems to be more resigned sadness. Will this change when his brother from another mother, Nicholas D. Wolfwood appears?
Meryl and Roberto - I currently see them as the awkward pair. Meryl is quick witted enough to show she can think under pressure to stop E.G. and her use of the camera flash was clever. Yet, she still needs to be constantly saved by Roberto who continues to info dump for the audience. She is less whiny in this episode but it would be tone deaf for her to be like that in the current circumstances.
Rosa - Is clearly a character that stands in for the regular people of the planet. Honestly, I can’t quite get her deal. She’s inconsistent in her behaviors and I wonder if it is because she is our named stand in for regular folks? She swings back and forth between trusting Vash to save them and cursing him at the same time. Do we have poor characterization of her or is she this erratic? Hard to tell.
Tonis - is our child who must be saved and also a victim of the chaos. Either the loss of his arm will allow for him to maybe get a new one like Vash (good) or gain a new one to work for evil?
Knives/Nai - Is a genocidal chaotic plant with a plan he wants to put into action. His plant abilities are more advanced that Vash’s and a ruthless cold blooded killer. Definitely our big bad with a strong old testament ‘wrath of God’ approach to eliminating all of humanity. In this version, they took is slicing arm ability and literally interpreted it as Millions Knives.
E.G. the Mine - We only knew you briefly. One of the valid critiques of the original was the lack of backstory and motivation for the Gung-Ho Guns in the anime. Stampede also doesn’t give us anymore information. Okay, they give us a real name for him as his ‘Easy Bomber’ moniker but that doesn’t do much else to make it a better retelling of his own motivations. He again, is just a man who wants to use his actions as an excuse to kill. Opportunity lost.
Conrad - The Doctor from the manga who was on the ship with Rem, Vash and Knives and dicovers them and keeps their secret. He stays hidden for some time in the manga only to be found by Knives and is forced to work for him witholding the key information that Knives is not immortal and that as his hair turns black he is indeed aging. That Knives will eventually die and that his power is limited. He didn’t do a whole lot other than helping Knives analyze Vash’s own body and gets killed by Knives.
Unnamed Girl = Zazie the Beast? - With her blonde hair and barefoot nature, I think this is Zazie the Beast. The walking barefoot may be a way to communicate with the sandworms and the fact that in the manga Zazie can change hosts as the representative of the insects of the planet.
Grey the Ninelives - appears to be a robot. The anime vesion was a robot that Wolfwood fought while in the manga it is nine individuals in the body. Since Stampede is full on sci fi, I’m going to go with either robot or mind of a human put into the robot to operate it.
Welp, that is all for this week. We shall see what happens in Episode 4 next week as it is likely that Meryl and Roberto indeed chase after Vash on his way to July.

Legends of Myriad: Arc One - Chapter 7: Court of Magic
Chapter 6 | Chapter 8
Arc One Masterlist
-- -- -- -- --
Almost tripping over his own feet, Bartholomew floundered down the grated steps. He collided with the desk at the bottom and groaned out a pained wheeze, snatching the edge to halt his forward tumble. The legs screeched under the strain as he recouped his balance. Behind him, his personal gateway to Solgarde thrummed, static crackling between the incoming and outgoing streams. In truth, he hadn’t been certain it would still operate, but despite the violent clanks and occasional grinds, his creation proved itself capable after all those centuries of quiet.
He locked the portal and skimmed the office, heady, earthy scents streaming through the smashed windows and the faintest breaths of the fiery sunrise roaming about the blinds. Any shred of his existence had since been absorbed by time, metal rusting, wood warping, and the paper of his cherished books and research wilting. Vacant gaps on the shelves and counters collected the least dirt, meagre compartments displaying where his treasures had once been before covetous locals pillaged the place.
Bartholomew snatched a few buried trinkets and stowed them into the pouch on his belt before he wandered out into the brisk morning chill. He pinched his scarf into his collar, steadying himself as quivers bolted beneath the foundations of the planet to announce the turbulent return of the gateways. He analysed the velocity of the shakes and surmised they would soon subside, but what damage they’d spread through Myriad he could only guess.
The route from his solitary hut drove him north through the plains of Celestria. On the way to the capital, he passed through a village resting in ruins. He recognised it as Tiveris, formerly a tranquil town of miners and farmers. Barely anything remained. Skeletal timbers hung from the surviving structures and the once vivid grass shrunk in clumps of sludge. He saw no signs of a struggle or a fight, but the stone steps of the mines had vanished, and he dreaded to consider the unfortunate fate that had befallen the villagers.
After departing the debris, he took the northernmost roads. Paths diverged from all over the plains, concentrating on a central point within the fields and heading for the various gates into Mora. The capital itself advanced along the coastal highlands. Even from that distance, he spotted the trio of bridges linking the two districts. But what surprised him most was the tangle of houses and small buildings compacted along the valley. On his previous visits, a vast river ran between the hills, swelling beneath the stone bridges and rushing towards the harbour where low ships ferried cargo to the inner city. Now it was a town, and a ramshackle one at that.
Arriving at the main gateway, Bartholomew fed the wardens on duty a humble story and passed into the city. Most of the houses and shops had evaded the brunt of the vicious shudders, a few garden fences and the odd corner of a roof crumpled. All repairable with the right skill and a bit of time.
The townsfolk paid no mind to him and worked quickly to clear the rubble, the strongest hauling the larger clumps while the nimbler among them combed the debris for trapped souls. A physician in white almost hit him in her rush, spluttering out an apology before jogging to the wounded patients congregated on the green. Clicker horses attached to wagons clacked their hooves on the cobbles of the promenade and huffed their warnings at him in streams of smoke.
On the outskirts of the commercial district, a grey-bearded man swept scatterings of glass from the porch of his bakery, smeared sleeves rolled up to his elbows. He glared up at Bartholomew as he approached and returned to his task.
“Hello there,” the professor said with a warm smile, waving at him until he surrendered his attention with an indignant huff. “I was wondering if you know where I might find a mage called Lilith Cleaver.”
With a scoff, the baker lifted himself from the gravel and threw the glass shards into a wheelbarrow. “I couldn’t tell you, but what I can tell you is that this is probably all her fault,” he growled, gesturing at the disarray. “Foolish girl doesn’t know when to quit messing with powers beyond her control.”
“For crying out loud, Jacob, will you stop being so cynical?” a woman chided, crossing from the seamstress’s shop opposite. “I apologise for my husband’s behaviour. Won’t think kindly of folk if he can judge them first.” Jacob grumbled and crouched back down to continue cleaning up. “If you’re looking for the Sunbreaker, she’ll be up at the Citadel. But I must warn you, if you mean her any harm, she’ll rip you to pieces.”
“I assure you, I do not wish to hurt her,” Bartholomew said, palm on his chest as he lowered himself into an earnest bow. The seamstress seemed satisfied enough with his response and waved him on his way.
“If you see that witch and find out this is her doing,” Jacob called after him, “tell her she’s footing the bill for my damaged wall!”
* * *
The buildings of the higher districts developed along the skyline in their imposing glory. Below, ivory slab roads cut deep channels within the capital’s network and guided every traveller, old and new alike, towards the core of their society.
Sieges and horrific civil wars marred the city’s history, and yet not a scratch tainted the architecture of these magnificent structures. As proud constructors, the people of Mora improved on their skill from generation to generation, honing it to the point of almost absolute perfection, and Bartholomew always sensed that esteem whenever he walked their avenues.
But nothing in all of Myriad could compare to the Citadel. The main ring divided into five wedges occupied by houses of knowledge and politics. Minor semi-circles clung to the outer defences and slender turrets ascended from within. In the centre of the intricate arrangement of spirals, Cardin’s Tower surged like a blade through flesh, the lower blocks and glass domes giving way to a fortified spire. He recalled that there was a spot in the guild district where the gardens could be observed over the bulwark. Of course, he’d had the luxury of strolling through them in person, inhaling the exhilarating perfumes of Solgardian petals and occasionally snagging his sleeve on a barbed thorn.
Nearing the gates, he counted the cluster of guards on duty. Had he not seen the varying shades of their eyes through their masks, he’d have sworn they were cloned, each indistinguishable from the next.
“Good day,” he said, addressing them all until their leader perked up. A sturdy man decorated in vivid teal sauntered over, removing his burnished mask. Bartholomew smiled, hoping it would temper his frown. “Ah, hello. Would it be possible to speak with a senior member of your establishment?”
“I’m afraid not, sir,” the guard replied gruffly, sweeping his gaze over Bartholomew’s head as though something more interesting lay in the extensive street behind him. “Are you in need of help?”
“Yes, sort of,” the professor said. “I was hoping to convey a message to a woman by the name of Lilith Cleaver. I’m told she spends time here.”
The man stiffened and stepped up to him until barely a shadow could fit between them, glints of the gold arrangements on his uniform capturing the afternoon sun. “That won’t be possible. Please move aside now, sir.”
“Just a brief word is all I need.”
“If you do not comply, we will make you.”
Bartholomew snorted and flicked a fleck of dirt from beneath his nails. “I would like to see you try.”
As though summoned by his derision, an assortment of weapons and magical charges hissed, crackling inches from his face. He raised his palms and shuffled backwards.
“What is all of this fuss in aid of, Captain Marrow?” a blunt demand rose above the hum of aimed offensives. Steps clicked on the cobblestone courtyard and a formally dressed figure cut through the group. “I hear no warning bells or screaming, so please explain to me why you are swinging your weapons about like a barbarian at an unarmed gentleman.”
“This man is trying to get in,” Marrow answered. “He wants to see Commander Cleaver, but I have told him this won’t be possible.”
“And what would your commander say if she could witness this, hm? She instructed you in honour and duty, did she not? Shame on you for showing such animosity.”
“With all due respect, Professor Bevan, she taught us the power one person alone can possess. She charged us with defending the Citadel and the citizens of Mora. If you would like me to stop doing my job, I suggest you bring that up with her.”
“The only thing I shall be informing her of is your insolence. Get to your post. I will deal with the situation here.”
Captain Marrow’s chest heaved, and thrusting his fists behind his back, he marched to the cubicle beside the gate, signalling for his troops to cease their hostility.
“Thank you,” Bartholomew whispered. “I do not mean any harm, I swear.”
Professor Bevan wafted away his concerns and motioned for him to accompany him, showing the way through the gates and into the courtyard. “You need not worry about the Sunbreak Army. I’d say their bark is worse than their bite, but I know the woman who trained them. Best to be firm with them if needs be, but I would not test their patience too much.”
Taking heed of the warning, Bartholomew quickly inched past the masked soldiers and stuck close to his guide. “Your cooperation is appreciated,” he said. “I only wish to speak with Lilith Cleaver briefly. It is a matter of urgency, you see, I think she may have op-”
“Those badges on your coat are old, I’d almost say archaic,” Professor Bevan interrupted, pointing to the tokens in question fixed below the lapel of Bartholomew’s jacket. “I must admit, I have only seen them in history books. We do not have such accolades here anymore. Some I don’t even recognise.”
“The explanation for that is a long-winded one.”
“That is often the case with explanations.” Bevan came to a standstill at the foot of the staircase, and Bartholomew almost knocked into him, stuttering at the last second to prevent a collision. “What is your business with Commander Cleaver?”
“I believe she has unleashed a frightful amount of magic,” Bartholomew said, recovering himself.
“When speaking of Lilith and frightful measures of magic, you’re going to have to be more specific.”
“The Temporal Gateways.”
Squinting, Professor Bevan inspected his visitor as though plucking apart every aspect of his physique. “If it is some sort of malicious motive you have towards her,” he said, “then I must advise you against it.”
“I do not wish to harm anybody who does not wish me harm,” Bartholomew promised, lifting his palms in surrender and speculating what had driven people to be so protective of this woman. “She may have the means to help me with something vital to the survival of Myriad.”
The dubious air about Professor Bevan eased, and he stuck his hand out, shaking Bartholomew’s with a vigour that betrayed the lines on his face. “In that case, Professor Altair Bevan at your service, sir.”
“It is a pleasure to meet a fellow professor. I am Professor Bartholomew Amias Spark of The Core.”
“Spark you say,” Altair hummed, scratching at his silver bat wing beard. “Rings a bell. Can’t quite tell where from.” He shrugged away the nettled sense of familiarity and compelled his guest to keep up with him as he ascended the carpeted steps. “Lilith is busy at the moment, Captain Marrow was right on that. But if you describe to me what you require help with, I can relay the matter to her.”
“It’s rather complicated,” Bartholomew said.
Altair chuckled. “No need to worry about that. I am acquainted with complicated matters.”
The Citadel Academy floated by in an illustrious display of midnight blue and silver, broken only by the snowy marble and embroidered rugs. Daylight invaded the curving corridors and painted an illuminated path to more staircases and classrooms. Round and round the walkways wound until Bartholomew felt like he was going in circles. If it hadn’t had been for Altair’s direction, he may never have found his way out of those infernal circuits.
Atriums divided the passageways, hosting modest tapestries and preserved artefacts. He reached the extent of the pieces he’d seen before and ventured to the newer ones, following the path of the centuries he’d missed, until Altair hurried him along and dug further into his purpose for visiting.
“That seems like quite the undertaking,” Professor Bevan concluded, leading him into a sprawling laboratory. “I’ll ensure Lilith understands the urgent nature of your task. Please, wait here. I won’t be long.”
Left alone, Bartholomew tried to still his curiosity. The modern age of Solgarde teemed and beckoned him to take a glimpse, turning his cheek to whisper ‘one look wouldn’t hurt’.
Cages of neatly soldered cables crackled with lightning along the distant benches and metres held their constant readings. But what tempted him most was the display of crystals on the far surface. Each had its own holder, Eventide and Imperial dancing together in celestial ripples and emanating organic power.
A cough caught him off guard and he straightened, pivoting on the spot to Altair. Beside him stood a slight woman, her raven hair knotted into braids and weaving like a coiled serpent about her head. Indigo eyes studied him, and for a moment, his chest sputtered. He’d seen those eyes before, delighted in them, vowed to protect them, but these were a little different; these carried impatience and an undefeatable tenacity.
“Commander Cleaver, this is Professor Bartholomew Amias Spark, the fellow I was telling you about,” Altair said. “Professor Spark, may I introduce you to Lilith Cleaver, Commander of the Sunbreak Army and Mother of Modern Magic.”
“You know, when you told me there was an urgent matter concerning multiple worlds and a planet that needed waking, I was picturing more than a man in a top hat,” Lilith confessed, peering from their mysterious guest to Altair. “Have you been on the Asari wine again?”
“There is no need to be rude,” Altair chided. “Professor Spark has travelled very far to ask for your help.”
“Yes,” Bartholomew said with a grin before she could intercept. “I witnessed your triumph in opening the gateways. Your command of Eventide and Imperial magic is exemplary. You know I almost thought…” At the narrowed eyebrows, he cleared his throat. “How much has Professor Bevan told you?”
“Only that you come from The Core and you claim to need my help,” Lilith replied.
Bartholomew nodded and patted at the back of his hand to keep himself focused. “The Core is a sentient planet and the protector of the nine worlds of Myriad. When you opened the gateways, it should have woken, but it won’t stir. I suspect waking it may take a lot of work that I cannot complete on my own.”
Lilith’s strides barely created a sound, the floor-length skirt attached to the armoured corset billowing behind her like a shadow. She halted before him, and he marvelled at the lilac dapples in her eyes. Is she…? he wondered. Could she possibly be…? But how?
“I wish I could help you,” she said, “but I’m needed here. My decision to open the gateways comes from a long struggle, and we are a recovering people.”
“If I cannot wake The Core, every world, including your own, will be at risk,” Bartholomew insisted. “The gateways are linked to it, and if it remains asleep while they activate, they will become unstable.”
“And what exactly would I be able to do to help you? There are many mages here who would be of far more use to you, I’m sure.”
“Can they also wield Eventide and Imperial magic like you?” the professor asked. The subtle tense of her jaw offered him his answer. “Commander Cleaver, I have seen much of Myriad, lived through countless ages, and never in all those centuries has someone controlled the power of two types of crystals before. Whatever circumstance permitted you that gift, I would be grateful if you could use it to assist me in this vital matter. The nine worlds are relying on The Core. This is a task I cannot do alone. If anybody can help me, I feel it is you. I may be wrong, but it’s worth a try, isn’t it?”
“Everything shall be okay here,” Altair said, appearing at Lilith’s shoulder. “The council is more than capable of picking up the damage and ensuring the gateways are properly guarded.”
Her gaze idled on the stranger, minuscule movements scrutinising every inch of his face, as though hunting for something to discredit his words. “A wonderful woman taught me all I know about the nine worlds,” Lilith told him. “She also taught me how to spot a liar, and I do not see any deception in you, Professor Spark. If the situation is truly as dire as you believe, then I will do what I can to help.”
An elated grin covered Bartholomew’s features. “Your service is most appreciated, commander.” Clicking his fingers, he produced a letter from his inner pocket. “Before I forget, three Citadel students found their way to me through one of your gateways. They are well, I assure you. This should explain everything. Would it be possible to get this to the director of your institute?”
“I’ll deliver it,” Altair offered.
“Actually, professor, I was wondering whether you may join Commander Cleaver and I? My lab will need tending to while we are away, and if you can maintain a place as magnificent as this, I’m sure you’ll manage splendidly.”
“It would be an honour.”
“Are we just going to ignore the fact that three students went through a gateway?” Lilith demanded, as the two professors prepared to depart and muttered to each other about the arrangements.
“You pursued worse avenues when you were a student,” Altair snorted. “Need I remind you of the catastrophes you caused.”
“Catastrophes is an over exaggeration,” she grumbled. “Besides, I had you and Farina to instruct me and keep me safe.”
“And yet you still never listened and consistently found trouble.” Professor Bevan rubbed her arm and continued gathering items. “They won’t be the first to run off on an adventure, nor will they be the last. Since the dawn of the academy, Citadel students have had a proclivity for mischief, but they always find their way home.”

The "playmate" (who is none other than Cerise) is brought to the Mad Teletubby who is sat down on his throne. Forced to put her knees on the ground, she exprimes her anger, her rage and ger hate toward his abductor.
Cerise: "You ugly monster ! What have you done ?! Where the hell am I now ?! "
Tinky (amused): "I've taken you for bring you with me in my spaceship. I wanna play with everyone i want. I need conquer every universe I wish too but without knowning any resistance. I need a Deus ex Machina for accomplish all my dreams and it's in your universe the final soluce can be found. 🌼"

Cerise: "Huh ?!"
Tinky: "You have a useful lot of informations about these Miraculous things and the wish to grant. You interest me, ----------*. 😈"
Cerise is shocked when Tinky has pronunced her real identity.

Comma, you’re right about Schlatt being an interesting character, especially in your AUs. Don’t get me started though cause I will reread everything you’ve written. I will analyze Schlatt until I’m delirious from lack of sleep.
Quackity Analysis Anon, I’ve seen the soap opera, I’ve loved watching the progression, and I’d love to have a role even if just for a bit. As John Silver in Treasure Planet said, “Stick to it, no matter the squalls! And when the time comes you get the chance to really test the cut of your sails, and show what you're made of... well, I hope I'm there, catching some of the light coming off you that day.”
That said, marriage will have to wait, I would feel awful if Wilbur Semi-Defender Anon didn’t have a say.
By the way, Dad Schlatt does care for Tubbo and he may start dealing with some of his issues if he finds out what Tubbo has to deal with. Perhaps a Buffy the Vampire Slayer-esq moment? *Spoiler incoming* But rather than Schlatt kicking his child out, he is struck speechless. Tubbo leaves, Schlatt gathers himself and tries to track him down. He has a moment where he must decide, lose his child or give up drinking.
I just adore my stinky awful Schlatt and want so badly to watch as he ones back from rock bottom. Hope came from the Pandora’s box for a reason.
~ Dad Schlatt Anon
Okay now I'm curious... So hop to it, anon! Go reread and everything and bring back your analyses of the stinky bastard man in every au
And I'll make you a counter-offer. Dad Schlatt [REDACTED] when Tubbo [REDACTED] and eventually he [REDACTED] until Tubbo [REDACTED] and it is just like BtVS in season 5 when [REDACTED]
#censored by the committee on nonspoilering#anons my beloved#bite me#dad schlatt anon#my own personal soap opera#maybe if you drop a proper analysis I'll uncensor some stuff#;)

LUNAR
18+ Content: Eventual descriptions of gore and smut. Third person POV. Chapter Word Count: 2203 Pairing: Din Djarin/F!Reader - no usage of “y/n”
The Mandalorian is a driven warrior — traversing the galaxy in search of the ancient Jedi — but everyone has their weaknesses, and he’s no different. The Bounty Hunter possessed three in fact. One he’s discovered—The Child. The remaining two, though, he wasn’t aware of their existence. At least, not until he meets a valorous Sharpshooter underneath a moonless night sky; then he’s plummeting down a dark mission of self-discovery, questioning his morals and his Creed while the moon taunts him, the phases of the satellite corresponding to his personal revelations. However, the Girl has a dark past that may come to inflict hardships on the Mandalorian and the Child; it's up to the Bounty Hunter to decide her fate.
Read on AO3 / Series Masterlist
CHAPTER ONE: ARVALA-7
The Razor Crest is the closest thing to The Mandalorian’s home, there wasn’t a situation the spacecraft hadn’t emerged triumphant albeit attaining minimal scathes of blaster fire. She’s an old vessel commissioned sometime before the Galactic Empire’s formation, the Mandalorian is grateful he’s privileged to possess such a durable warship, it compliments his style perfectly.
Although, as the craft whines at Mando’s persistent thumbing of controls, he was beginning to resent the body of duralloy surrounding him. The walls shake violently against the atmospheric changes and the left engine slows to a stop, crashing against a stray object within the propellers. He fights against the increasing velocity, eager on not crashing into the all-too-familiar dusty planet nearing closer.
He hopes Kuiil is accepting of a visitor.
Mando surveys the gunship before him, a piece of exterior panelling collapses to the ground underneath the resting Crest and the whirs of a slowing engine clash against the whistling wind, and he sighs. It’s not an easy fix, not this time. The Guild is increasing the numbers against him and with it, the blaster fire directed towards him has improved; pilots are becoming gallant, stupid, credit-hungry.
At least he’s a good pilot, a skill he feels pride for possessing.
Even so, the Crest is a bulky hull and his skills can’t avoid the few unfortunate circumstances that come with it. The spacecraft is in bad shape, worst it’s ever been in and he fears even the Ugnaught cannot assist with this, but he can’t waste time - can’t stay in one location for too long. If his short time on Sorgan taught him anything, it’s to not allow himself attachments nor liabilities.
Arvala-7 hasn’t changed — hasn’t improved — since he was last here, collecting the asset for a hefty reward that now encases his body. The asset — The Child, remained in the sleeping berth, undeterred by the convulsions. Mando contemplates not to wake him and visit Kuiil for assistance, but he’s reminded of Peli Motto’s stern words— You can’t just leave a child all alone like that!
Regardless of the fact the planet is a deserted wasteland, he knows she’s right.
Besides, if the Jawa’s were to ransack the Crest again, they might use the Child as a bargaining chip.
Substrate crunches underneath Mando’s weighted boots as he nears the boarding ramp to collect the Child. The tips of his toes reach the incline but he stops, pauses, thinks. There’s a shift in the wind before it settles flatly, dissipating as though it never existed. It’s silent, dead, until it wasn’t. There’s a sharp hiss echoing through the valleys, one he’s heard too many times and he promptly turns to catch a streak of burning red an inch away from his visor and nestling a hole into the battered ship.
Mando scans the bouldered landscape and concurrently keys at his vambrace, activating his thermal vision to assist in his hunt for the perpetrator; thankful for the night sky enhancing the opportunity. He stops short, visor targeting a glimmer of warm orange heat on the rocky peaks. Mando’s hand instinctively hovers over his holstered blaster, but they’re too far, too high for him to manage a decent shot. With the rifle locked in the Crest, he’s practically defenceless albeit for the flash charges and flamethrower in his vambrace.
Resorting to flash charges in this circumstance is futile. There aren’t sufficient charges to obstruct their vision long enough for him to reach their positioning. Of course, the flamethrower is even worse; he’d consider himself lucky if it extended a mere two metres ahead of him. He’s easy pickings — too vulnerable, and it intimidates him.
He’s never felt so insignificant...so...powerless.
Leather toggles at his vambrace and the visor magnifies its vision before his eyes. Mando observes the figure, analyses it, and follows the direction of the barrel’s aim. It’s actively locked onto him, but he doesn’t move, doesn’t show submission before them.
It’s assertive and so stupid.
It’s, in all probability, a Guild member here to lay claim to two rewards—Mando, for his betrayals, and the Child, for high compensations. Although the reward for the Child alone outweighs the Mandalorian’s. They could end him right here and now, steal the Child and be back on Nevarro within a few days; they should for it they don’t, he will put up a fight.
The sharpshooter readjusts their positioning, the barrel of the rifle tilting down an inch and another blast of crimson slashes through the air, wisps of wind trailing behind the high-velocity beam. It kicks up dirt upon its impact between his boots, dust and pebbles flicking into his lower beskar.
They’re not aiming for him at all, Mando realises. It’s possible that they’re a poor marksman, but was it plausible? Their posture is riddled with years of experience and discovered confidence; they’re no amateur. Mando is sure of it.
Which means they’re attempting to threaten him, frighten him enough for him to evacuate the lands. He doesn’t submit that easily. Perhaps they were hiding something — there’s no point in empty threats among land that possesses no treasures — and maybe it was valuable, or, Mando hums in thought, maybe something sinister he shouldn’t involve himself in.
Arvala-7 isn’t a planet of overly aggressive inhabitants, although the last he was here he did wipe out an entire Nikto encampment; there had to be others of their kind parading the planet in search of him.
Even with the assistance of his magnified vision, the figure was blurred and unreadable. Mando couldn’t even see a speck of skin underneath all the body armour and their face was obstructed by hard tan rock formations.
Mando thinks of the tan-pink face of the Ugnaught, the white whiskers lining his jowls, the weathered brown goggle cap, and how he failed to mention an overly territorial sharpshooter inhabiting the lands.
Blast! Kriffing Ugnaught!
Isn’t that something a tourist should be made aware of upon entering unknown terrain?
Mando gazes through his visor and observes the prone figure. If this was any other ordinary blaster fight, he’d have won by now; would’ve simply pulled for his Amban phase-pulse rifle and disintegrated the threat until there was nothing left but their dust kicking in the wind. He would have already been heading to Kuiil’s moisture farm and complained about his lack of notice of the ambush.
It wasn’t any normal fight, though. Mando can sense something from them and he doesn’t like it; not what he senses but why he senses it.
He’s a practical man.
He works with his hands and his mind, and doesn't tap into intuitions unless necessary. Even when he feels a job is too hard, too promising, he embraces it. Green skin and long bat-wing ears flicker in his peripherals—The Child. He’s awoken. At an unfortunate time, no less. He often did that.
Mando rushes to the Child and swoops him in his arms, ignoring the confused coos muffling into his beskar and returning to the Crest before the incoming fire. It doesnt come, not even after he peers his helm from the duralloy walls. He inspects the valley formations for a tinge of orange heat, a speck of lens flare, but it’s gone.
It’s a good thing —he has to remind himself — but his suspicions are wedging into the deep crevices of his mind and tingling against his brain, provoking sparks of apprehension. It’s only a matter of time before they inevitably return and who’s to say they won’t return with reinforcements, optimistic of removing him from their lands.
The Child is restless in his arms, whiny piercing noises emitting from his little mouth. “Okay, okay,” Mando grumbles, content of the long-gone presence, and sets the Child down. “Don’t go outside.”
He thumbs his vambrace and the weapons unit doors commence their opening with creaky hinges, yet another thing Mando will have to secure at a later date. The Amban rifle feels comforting in his hand, the shiny barrel glimmering in the Crest’s light. It’s secured to his back and the thick strap fastens across his breastplate vertically, reassuringly.
Leathered digits grab at three canisters of rifle ammunition and situate them in their placements surrounding his boot, refilling the empty’s he’d used prior to the pathetic spacecraft malfunctioning.
Mando gives himself a once-over, guaranteeing he contained all the essentials on his possession if the sharpshooter were to return. When he’s pleased with the maintenance of his blasters and positioning of ammunition canisters, he retreats the Crest and closes the hatch. “I told you not to go outside.”
The Child coos blithely and wanders to his guardian with an extended three-tipped claw.
Mando sighs and picks up the little alien child. The beskar helmet twists towards the mountain-top and his eyes narrow underneath the visor, his lips pressed tightly against his teeth in thought.
“Come on, let’s go see Kuiil. Might even have some pestering frogs you can take off his hands.”
And maybe he can answer some urgent questions, The Mandalorian thinks.
The Ugnaught proves to be useful yet again, going so far as to tend to the Child’s hunger needs—and offering unwanted advice in the meantime. The Mandalorian and Kuiil stand ahead of the Blurrg enclosure, his former mount jeering the beskar-clad bounty hunter. “She’s not fond of you.”
“Feelings mutual.” Mando jabs and sighs, realising his vehemence towards a non-sentient beast. The Child is beside him, shoving a cobalt-blue frog through his tight-lipped mouth. Frantic legs kick at the Child’s chin but it only encourages his appetite, green claws pushing the amphibians limbs into his enclosed mouth. Mando cringes beneath the helmet.
“I recognise you’re not here for tea.” Kuiil draws the Mandalorian’s attention back. “Why are you here?”
“The Crest has taken significant damage. I fear I cannot fix it.”
“Get a new spacecraft, a reliable one.”
Mando sighs, “I don’t need a new one.”
“I have spoken.”
The Ugnaught extends an overflowing hand of mushy grub for the blurrgs, the beasts absorb the entirety of his fist in its mouth but pulls away leaving a wet shine of slobber on Kuiil’s hand. The Mandalorian is grateful for the thin wire restraining them to their confines. Although, they were definitely capable of overpowering the loose cables with their brute strength; he’s pleased he will be needing the reptilian assistance no longer.
It’s easier to depend on mechanics, they’re manipulatable and live beasts were not.
“There’s a marksman in those valleys,” Mando explains.
“I am aware.”
So he did know—and didn’t warn him. “Do you know them?”
“They are one of your kind.”
This piques his interest, curiosity apparent in his fixed posture; head tilted and shoulders stiffly raised. “Mandalorian?”
“No. Independent, private.”
Mando sighs and turns away from the Ugnaught, a pair of hands landing on his hips in frustration. Helmet adjusts upwards, reaching high in the night sky, where he browses the vastness of black and speckled white. Space seems so far away without his Crest, so unreachable. Underneath the visor, his eyes collect the clusters of stars. The Mandalorian is a man of many skill sets and abilities; constellation knowledge was not one of them, yet he couldn’t tear his gaze away. He resolves to count the particles, managing to reach sixty-eight before the Child’s coos distract him.
He's resilient, persistent. Optimistic to obtain an answer to the number of stars soaring above him. Eighty-three, eighty-four— The sharpshooter crosses his mind and he scowls. There’s that sensation again, that uneasiness. Intuition, suspicion. Eighty…. Eighty-six?
The thoughts are evaded, not wanting to think about the potential danger he’s putting himself, the Child, and even Kuiil in by remaining on the desert planet—not that he had anywhere to go, but he feels as though the sharpshooter doesn’t care. They just want him gone, and it only makes the Mandalorian that much inquisitive.
Tan lower eyelids drag downwards as though they were crafted with gravity itself. He’s tired, exhausted, but he doesn’t succumb to his body’s pleads of leisure. It can wait until the Crest is soaring through space; then, and only then, with the Child dozing in his hammock he can relax, allow his muscles to recuperate, allow himself a moment's weakness.
Mando sucks in a breath through his helmet’s filter. Dry, warm, and grainy like the desert, but a refreshing change from the recycled oxygen inside the Razor Crest’s vessel.
Arvala-7’s moon is nowhere to be seen, the sky illuminated only by the dotted whites flaked through the sheet of black. It gives the sky an ominous appearance, threatening almost. Mando finds himself disorientated among the stars, a thick lump in his throat. It looked so…
Lifeless.
The Mandalorian forcibly retracts his attention from the sky, but his premonition remains intact and he dabbles with it. Fiddling the edges of a conscious thought and visualising it as a bounty puck, he pictures a bright hologram emerging from it’s centre, displaying a circulating outline of orange waves. It’s a bad idea, a stupid idea, but one he can’t reject, “Their camp. Where is their camp located?”
Kuiil shakes his head, “They’re not hostile, no need to provoke them.”
“I won’t shoot first.”

The mere presence of the S.S Dolphin alone proves it can't be in continuity with prior games. It was sold off at the start of 2, which happened the moment 1 ended, there is no room for another adventure between them.
In 3 Olimar is seeking out treasure with the hope of regaining the S.S Dolphin. Meaning he can't possess the S.S Dolphin between 2 and 3. And Hey shows that when he does regain the Dolphin after 3, it becomes the S.S Dolphin II. Which has a distinct design from the original.
The off brand Koppaites prove that Pikmin 3 can not have happened before 4, because when they're found it is clearly stated that Koppai is on the verge of a food crisis. Not that it was already solved by Yorke's brother. Alph and the others existing doesn't mean 3 happened.
Not to mention the opening cutscene is told from Olimar's perspective and clearly frames it as his first time on the planet ever. Louie also shows no familiarity with the Pikmin.
Lastly, the entire premise of 2 and the reason for Olimar's presence in 3 is about treasure. Pikmin 2 is the treasure hunting game, not the artifact collecting game. You can't just cite the treasure hoard from 2 and then say 2 had no treasure. Some treasures in 4 are repeats from 2 even. If you have to ignore the basic premise of 2 in both gameplay and plot as well as his entire motivation in 3 to make it in continuity with 4, maybe it simply isn't.
That's not even going into how Louie is also clearly unfamiliar with PNF 404 and the Pikmin in his voyage log, with its final entry being a nod to Pikmin 2 in a way where it's clear it didn't happen.
And a lot of these 'analyses' of Olimar's voyage log consist of contorting the words in a way that'd only make sense if Olimar was trying to deceive someone in his private voyage log later sent out in the hopes of someone saving him, or straight up making stuff up and pretending they're in the text. Olimar is describing Ultra Spicy nectar, not comparing it to past uses.
Olimar could mean a number of things in the first log, and the other one could just mean that he considered the other treasures from 2 to be artifacts rather than treasure as he didn't realize they contained Sparklium.
Olimar is shocked because Spicy Spray in 2 didn't bloom flowers and he was trying to rub it off of Moss not the Pikmin.
The Gyroid Bust is a treasure from Pikmin 2. Schnauz isn't talking about regular gyroids. This means this treasure ended up on Hocotate. But how? BECAUSE OF THE EVENTS OF PIKMIN 2 OF COURSE!
Rock Pikmin have a different model in 3 and 4. Rock Pikmin in 4 are closer to their Pikmin 3 renders.
Alph and Brittany are literally mentioned lol
