a/n a lot of rambling idk what i was even saying

Getting over the youngest son of Poseidon was a task easier said than done. Especially seeing him with the spirit that was Annabeth Chase. The two had been attached at the hip since they were twelve.
Alas, y/n decided to turn her attention to another pretty boy. The elder of the Stoll brothers. You could say she had a type. He was in a strange sense, similar to Percy.
The dark wavy hair, light eyes. He was cute enough.
Unfortunately when your mother is the goddess of love, you don’t really get to be normal about your crushes. Especially when you have your sister breathing down your neck about “Aphrodite’s Rite of Passage.” No matter what Y/N knew that was something she could never complete. She was a hopeless romantic not a maneater like many believed Aphrodite’s children to be.
When she gathered herself and decided it was time to talk to the son of Hermes, she found herself strolling to cabin 3. She knocked on the door. She heard swearing and things falling before the door opened.
“Hey, y/n,” he sighed. The boy’s hair was messed and he was without a shirt.
“Is this a bad time?”
“Kinda.”
She peered over his shoulder seeing the blonde on his bed, awkwardly playing with the hem of the oversized shirt she was wearing, “I get it.”
“Sorry,” he breathed, “did you need something?”
“I was just gonna ask you something,” she shrugged, “talk to you later though.”
“Bye,” he sheepishly spoke as he closed the door.
She embarrassedly made her way back to her cabin. All while ignoring the pit in her stomach as she told herself she didn't care. She didn't care. She had bigger fish to fry.
Bad analogy.
As slow hours passed she laid in her bed staring at the ceiling. Sure, she had things to do. Training, cleaning, chores. But for now, the ceiling was where her mind wanted to stay. The ceiling was the blank canvas she had spent so much of her painting with visions of Percy Jackson. She imagined if they’d dated what they would do together. The romantic dates, the sneaking into his cabin the way Annabeth does. Her head ached when she tried to picture the new acrylic, when she was so used to watercolor.
She imagined kissing the boy. Test one. She wasn't cringing the way she would have expected to, but as the image of muscular arms that belonged to the wrong came into her mind, she sat up. She finally stretched her legs, trying to clear her mind of all things Poseidon. When she heard the cabin door creak open, she failed her challenge as the boy walked in.
“Y/N,” he grinned as he caught her eyes.
“Hi, hey, hi,” she smiled in return, “what’s up?”
“I was gonna ask you the same thing,” he retorted, tilting his head, which reminded her of a puppy in a way. Which trailed her thoughts into picturing him as a husky with bright blue-green eyes. And then she realized that was kinda a weird thought?
She looked down, picking at her cuticles, “sorry, yeah, right, uhm,” she looked back up at him. She tried to focus as she looked into his eyes that were framed by his thick eyelashes that made him almost look like he was wearing mascara. “Remember how I helped you with Annabeth?”
“Yeah,” he lovesickenly smiled as his brain thought of the girl. If Y/N weren't a daughter of love itself, she would be hurling.
She shook her head, “anyway, I was kinda hoping you could repay the favor?”
He raised an eyebrow as he sat on one of her sister’s beds, being the only two people in the cabin. “Me? why?”
“You owe me,” she said, “remember?”
He leaned back, “yeah,” he recollected the memory, not expecting it to be held up, “just, what do I know about love?”
“I see you with,” she took a deep breath, “her. You're a romantic, whether you know it or not.” She sat across from him on another bed, “plus, you know boys.”
“I know boys?”
“You are one, aren't you?”
He laughed, “I think so.” He shifted closer to her, he lowered his voice, “what boy are we talking about?”
“Travis Stoll.”
He cringed, “Travis? Really?”
“What?” she softly mentioned, “he’s cute.”
Before he could speak, the door opened, the pair turned to look at it. A girl with an orange shirt and pink shorts stood with her arms crossed, “what is the fish boy doing on my bed?”
ྀིྀིྀིྀིྀིྀིྀིྀི
“He’s not the smartest guy, y/n,” Percy said as he stood beside y/n, borderline stalking Travis alongside his brother from afar. The sons of Hermes built something possibly illegal in 48 states as they sat together.
She looked at him for a second, “and you are?”
“I’m no Stoll,” he smiled, turning to the girl, “you're gonna have to be straight forward. He wont pick up on any hints.”
She held up her hand, sticking up her thumb and pinky to imitate a phone, “hey, kettle, you're black.”
“Huh?”
She smirked, “you just proved my point, thank you very much.”
He rolled his eyes, “you wanted someone who knows guys, who got one.”
She nudged his shoulder, “thanks, Perce.”
“I owe you.”
“You do.”
Silence fell over the two until a loud “hey!” was called from the direction of the brothers.
“We’ve blown our cover,” she muttered before grabbing Percy’s arm tightly. They ran away with laughter overhead as the other two chased after them. They both came to a stop, clutching their stomachs to catch their breaths.
“What were you guys doing?” Travis stood tall.
She bit her lip, “sorry, we were just,” she looked at Percy for a quick glance, “we weren't doing anything.”
“Yeah, we were just on a walk, you guys are the suspicious ones,” Percy added.
The daughter of Aphrodite moved some hair that had gotten stuck on her lip gloss, “Travis, actually, I kinda wanted to talk to you.”
He raised an eyebrow, “why?”
“Come on,” she grinned, beckoning him to follow her to a secluded area. When they stopped, she finally just took a deep breath and spilled her guts to the boy. As she realized just how easy it was, she wondered why she couldn't have just done all this before? It sure would have saved her the pain she had put herself through, time and time again.
“You like me?” He repeated back to her.
She looked a away, “thats pretty much the gist of things, yep.”
“Oh,” he responded.
“I needed to tell you, that’s all.”
“Hey, wait, I,” he sighed, “I like you, too.”
She smiled, “really?”
“Totally.”
So, that night, as she sat by the campfire hand in hand with Travis Stoll, she watched Percy and Annabeth connected at the hip nearby. She looked back at the boy next to her, letting a smile come across her face. But she wondered why she still felt that stabbing pain in her heart.

chapter twenty-nine | little talks
percy jackson x fem reader
Tumblr media
“Help me,” you whispered, so lowly you worried it was too low for Travis to hear a thing you said. “I can’t stay here.”
The wind howled wherever he was outside of camp, and car horns blared in the background. Outside of your bedroom, your dad raged in the hallway, steadily making his way to your room. One by one, thick bangs indicated new holes in walls. Rachel was screaming, too, but not in anger—she was pleading with him to stop, as the baby screamed like he never had before.
That had set him off—Finney’s screaming in the night. Maybe it was a nightmare, or maybe he was in pain. Nothing changed. And you had no control over it.
“How far even is Sydney from here?” Travis asked desperately, exhaling slowly. “Like, a day’s flight?”
There was the issue of getting out. Getting here had been easy—your dad’s money; your dad asking for a do-over; your dad’s want. How was it possible to leave now, with ten dollars to your name, Finney in pain, and Rachel alone with him? How would you make it back to the States without his money? Which, he would without a doubt, notice missing.
“You’ve gotta help me,” you whispered helplessly into Rachel’s stolen phone, watching the sea from your bedroom window. It calmly lapped the shore.
Nothing but Travis, poor Travis, and his helpless breathing on the other end of the line.
“I’ll see you soon, Travis,” you uttered softly, taking the phone away from your ear, ending the call with a press of a button, before smashing it over, and over, against the corner of your drawer.
You’d find a way to pay Rachel back for breaking her phone.
As you threw things into a backpack—leggings, toothbrush, favourite plushie and iPod—you muttered aloud to whatever Gods you could think of.
Hermes, for safety, the patron of travellers.
Ares, for the strength your anger gave you, and bravery you needed, hands shaking.
And your mother, to save your life. To watch over you.
They were so into their arguing, nobody noticed you slip out of your bedroom and racing down the stairs, raincoat on, and sneakers messily laced. Every sense in your body screamed run! and your eyes drifted over a hole in the wall with no photograph to cover it just yet. Your bones physically ached to take Finney in your arms and hush him to sleep, to save his poor throat from the soreness that would come from all his terror.
Maybe Rachel would see sense.
Unbelievable to yourself, Ares was the god you prayed to, not stopping at the bottom of the stairs, heading straight for the front door.
Tumblr media
Annabeth’s house was the exact image of happy, and well-lived in. A little kid’s winter coat lay on the floor, and the whole house smelled of cookies. The coffee table in the living room was stacked high with books of all kinds, from wars to fairy tales, the wood stained with what must have been years of being used.
Her dad, for all the bad that Annabeth had said about him, seemed lovely. He seemingly wasn’t fussed about the children’s clothes on the sofa, or the gaggle of random teens in his house…the kind of parent you wished for.
You sighed, eyeing the home. Annabeth didn’t know how good she had it.
Photographs lined up along the walls, and stood in pretty framed on the windowsill. You were sure, almost certain, that if you moved aside the frames on the walls, there would be no holes underneath them, plaster torn through from anger, covered up in odd places with different-sized frames.
Your fingers itched just to see.
There were Lego robots on the stairs, when you turned around to admire the house, and a cat stretched out in a patch of dying sunlight at the bottom of the staircase. Jazz music floated throughout from the kitchen.
You were so jealous, you could have strangled Annabeth for giving this up.
“Dad!” A little boy screamed. You jumped easily. “He’s taking apart my robots!”
“Bobby,” Mr. Chase called absently, “stop doing that.”
“I’m Bobby!” The boy protested. “He’s Matthew!”
“Matthew, don’t take apart your brother’s robots!”
“Okay!”
Annabeth’s dad turned to you, looking you over properly. He hadn’t so much as really looked at anyone since inviting you in. “Let’s go upstairs and talk in my study…”
You knew what it was the second that he paused.
“Are you…?” He blinked, wide-eyed. “Do you know my Annabeth?”
The eyes. Always the eyes.
“My
Annabeth”
And, Gods, would anyone talk about you like that? Earnestly, and wholeheartedly? Not as a possession to be moved around at will, as you’d experienced, but somebody who was wanted, and very clearly, loved. To belong to somebody with care.
Annabeth was due a lecture. You decided that firmly.
You shifted on your hip, hands in pockets. “She’s my sister.”
He ah’d silently, and then waved his hand briefly to you. “I figured. The—”
“Eyes?” You finished at the same time, and heat spread across your cheeks. “Yeah, I get that a lot.”
“Frederick?”
Your gaze fell behind Annabeth’s dad, to a pretty Asian woman standing in the doorway of the kitchen. She was taller than you, shorter than Mr. Chase, and her hair—god, you would have died for hair like that—was glossy-looking and tinted red, and she held a pair of kids’ shoes in her hand.
“Who are our guests?” She asked.
“Oh, uh…this is…”
He stared at your group blankly.
“Frederick!” She chided. “You forgot to ask them their names?”
You introduced yourselves a little uneasily, but Mrs. Chase seemed nice. Especially when she offered cookies.
“Dear, they came about Annabeth.”
You weren’t sure what you expected from her reaction-wise, but a simple concerned look wasn’t enough for you. “Alright. Go on up to the study and I’ll bring you some food up.” She smiled. “Nice meeting you, Percy. I’ve heard a lot about you.”
It was as if the blood in your body halted, and a strange feeling overcame you. Without really meaning to, you were sure you pulled a face. Thalia, beside you, snickered quietly.
The ‘study’ wasn’t what you’d expected at all, certainly not for a grown man with children. Then again, perhaps he’d built this just for them. The thought made you feel warm inside, and oddly, spiteful; planes you recognised from history movies dangled on clear string from the ceiling, circling over a home-made demonstration of a fort, all cliffs and grass and the sense of death.
A war, Frederick Chase had built in his home.
You didn’t care much for whatever they talked about behind you; Zoe muttering something about enemy lines, Percy’s butting in, and Mr. Chase’s answering patiently. Instead, your interest piqued at a globe sitting on a tabletop to the side of the room, surrounded by well-loved books, slightly dusty and sitting askew atop of one another. You reached your hand out, and gently pushed the globe around, spinning it idly. Your eyes wandered.
A ratty, once-adored stuffed animal, now vaguely resembling an elephant, sat alone in a corner made by books, staring up at you. Was this Annabeth’s? Had she at one point abandoned this little guy in search of peace the way you had recently done to Finney?
It hurt so bad to think about, that it didn’t bear thinking about at all.
Either way, your heart clenched for your family.
The afternoon light was quickly changing, darkening, and you found the strength to speak up and bring to attention the problems that needed solving—ones that you were not at all prepared to take on any time soon alone. Your mind, for all people praised children of Athena, was not well-equipped for these situations. You weren’t smart enough, you felt.
And it was proving itself to be the case, too.
Just luck something in you persuaded. It’s all just bad luck.
You allowed Percy and Thalia to explain everything to Annabeth’s father, who, after paying great attention to even the side-tracking Percy inevitably talked, collapsed into an old armchair beside the desk you perched on the edge of. He laced his hands, looking worn and stressed.
“My poor brave Annabeth,” he said, quietly.
The cookie in your hand crunched and crumbled all over the desk, and pure bitterness scraped your insides.
“Sir,” Zoe brought you out of your thoughts. “We need transportation to Mount Tamalpais. And we need it immediately.”
He nodded. Mr. Chase blinked at his coffee table, absent in thought. “I’ll take you. Hmm…it would be faster to fly in my Camel. But it only seats two…”
Your mind snapped to attention. “Wait, you have an actual Sopwith Camel just chilling around?”
Mr. Chase nodded as though it was normal as anything. “Down at Chrissy Field. That’s the reason I moved here. My sponsor is a private collector with some of the world’s finest World War I relics in the world. He let me restore the Sopwith Camel—”
“Sir,” Thalia cut in, “a car would be just great. And it might be better if we went without you. It’s too dangerous.”
Mr. Chase visibly deflated in his armchair, frowning uncomfortably. “Now wait a minute, young lady. Annabeth is my daughter. Dangerous or not, I can’t just—”
“Snacks!” Mrs. Chase announced, bustling into the room with a tray of goods.
“I can drive, sir,” said Zoe. “I’m not as young as I look. I promise not to destroy your car.”
Mrs. Chase knit her eyebrows. “What’s this about?”
“Annabeth is in danger,” said Mr. Chase. “On Mount Tam. I would take them…but apparently it’s no place for mortals.”
To your surprise, Mrs. Chase nodded, not questioning it. Maybe she was used to this stuff by now. “They’d better get going then.”
“Right!” He jumped up, and started patting his pockets. “I…need to just get my keys…”
His wife sighed. “Honestly, Frederick, you’d lose your head if it wasn’t constantly in your hat.” Relatable. “They’re downstairs, on the peg by the door.”
“Right!”
Zoe grabbed a sandwich, and you stuffed a couple of cookies in your backpack, uncaring for the crumbs. “Thank you both. We should go. Now.”
Everyone headed for the stairs, Mr. Chase first—he walked quickly with urgency in his steps, and you wandered, would anyone ever act this way for you? Travis, maybe, at some point, if the time ever called for it. He’d shown that he cared. Or at least, you thought he did. Percy, too, who pulled you back-to-back with him earlier, protecting one another.
“Percy!” Mrs. Chase called. You waited at Mr. Chase’s side, at the front door, hands in your pockets. “Tell Annabeth…tell her, she still has a home here, will you? Remind her of that.”
For a second, you closed your eyes, and let yourself be lost in imagination. The sound of happy children playing, standing beside a father who cared, who was light with warmth and love. The feeling of pure safety in the home.
For a second, you let yourself feel this.
Tumblr media
After the car blew up, and you spent a good few minutes with Percy picking car pieces out of your hair and skin, you had thought perhaps nothing else could go wrong.
But this was a quest you were supposed to be a part of, so of course something else did go wrong.
“Silence, fool!” Zoe hissed, pulling Percy and big mouth down behind a rock. “Do you want to wake Ladon?”
“You mean we’re here?” You asked. This was it? The road was shrouded with thick fog, ahead of you, the mountain was even darker.
“Very close,” she said. “Follow me.”
Fog drifted across the road, and shivers crawled up your back. Zoe stepped out into it and disappeared completely.
“Focus on her,” said Thalia. “The Mist is really strong here. Just step into the fog and focus on Zoe.”
Apprehension became you, but you did as she said. Zoe was nowhere to be seen at first, but the more you concentrated on finding her, the dog cleared, and the road became dirt, and the dirt lead to the mountain. And then there was Zoe and Thalia, and Percy just behind you.
Your breath was stolen pretty quickly. The grass was thicker, the sunset a bloody slash across the sky, hues of peach and amber colliding. The summit of the mountain was closer, now, swirling with dark clouds and power above. There was only one path right in front of you, leaden with beautiful flowers and trees, pink blossoms and bright purples you couldn’t name. It lead to a darker forest of shadows and flowers that glowed.
You weren’t sure how you knew, but…
“The garden of twilight,” you muttered. Zoe’s head snapped to you.
The grass shimmered with silvery, dewy light, the flowers such brilliant colours they flowed and lit the darkness around you. Black, polished marble steps danced around a five-storey tall golden apple tree, literal golden apples, glimmering and glowing amongst the rich green leaves.
“Hera’s apples of immortality,” Thalia said lowly. “A wedding gift from Zeus.”
You were tempted to step right up and grab one, except you found the danger quickly.
The dragon, curled around the tree. The dragon, bigger than you could have ever imagined one, and with more heads than it was possible to count. He appeared to be sleeping.
Something in the darkness caught your attention. The shadows began to move, an eerie singing beginning. You clutched your dagger harder.
Four figures appeared, girls in white greek chitons. They were beautiful, and, with a shiver, you noticed they resembled Zoe Nightshade. Or, rather, she resembled them.
“Sisters,” Zoe said with a small sigh.
“We do not see any sister,” one of the girls said coldly. “We see three half-bloods and a Hunter. All of whom will soon die.”
“Don’t worry about being pessimistic,” you muttered. Percy elbowed you, firmly.
“You’ve got it wrong,” he stepped forward. “Nobody is going to die.”
But…you had that feeling again. The one before Bianca. And you couldn’t tell if it was anxiety or foreshadowing. Whichever it was, it made you feel sick, nonetheless, and helpless.
“Perseus Jackson,” one of them said.
“Yes, I do not see how he is a threat.”
“Who said I’m a threat?”
The first girl glanced behind her, toward the top of the mountain. “They are unhappy that this one has not yet killed thee,” she pointed to Thalia. “They fear thee.”
“Tempting, sometimes,” Thalia said. “But no, thanks. He’s my friend.”
“There are no friends here, Daughter of Zeus. Only enemies. Turn back.”
“Not without Annabeth,” she moved forward.
“And Artemis. We must approach the mountain.”
“You know he will kill thee. You are no match for him.” One of the girls scoffed.
“Artemis must be freed. Let us pass.”
“You have no rights here anymore.” Harsh. “We have only to raise our voices and Ladon will wake.”
“He will not harm me,” Zoe shook her head gently.
“No? And what about thy so-called friends?”
Then, Zoe did the last thing you wished she would. She clapped her hands, and yelled. “Ladon! Wake!”
The dragon’s eyes snapped open instantly. He glittered like a mountain of coins, just as everything in your body shivered.
Your heart took cover.
Zoe’s sisters scattered. One of the girls was furious. “Are you mad?!”
“You never had any courage, sister. That is thy problem.”
You’d never seen Zoe so forward, and confident. Confidence outside of your comfort zone was different. But you knew to be confident and strong against your family was a different kind.
Ladon was awake, now, a hundred heads hissing and swirling. You wanted to back up, and leave this place. Zoe, standing ahead of you all, looked up at him with nothing but surety. Thalia had shifted, and Percy was still as anything beside you, the two of you looking with your heads tipped back.
Your lungs chose the awfully wrong time to deflate. Because in the light of the glowing flowers, and the danger on the breeze, Percy’s eyes were bright green, his tan skin aglowing, and his dark hair looked glossier than ever. The perfect edge to his nose, shining ever so slightly. His mouth was slightly agape in—shock? Confusion? Horror?
The most heavenly boy to exist.
“Let’s go,” you decided, the first to make a move.
“Ladon is trained to protect the tree,” Zoe said, moving forward toward the dragon. She raised her arms out to him as if she were welcoming a best friend home, not a killing machine. “Skirt around the edges of the garden. I am a bigger threat. Go up toward the mountain. As long as I’m here, he should ignore thee.”
“Should?” Percy snapped. “Not exactly reassuring.”
Your body turned cold. “No. Come on. Let’s all just run for it. Nobody gets left behind.”
Thalia looked at you and nodded. “Zoe. Let’s go.”
“It is the only way. Even the four of us together cannot fight him.”
Ladon opened his mouths. The sound of a hundred heads hissing at once sent a shiver down your back, and that was before his breath hit your nose. The smell was like acid. It made your eyes burn, your skin crawl, and your hair stand on end. Combine all that with spearmint, and you were good to remember it for life.
Thalia and Percy had already left your side, skirting around the edge of the garden as Zoe had told them to. But something didn’t feel right about that, to you.
You crept up beside Zoe. Very firmly, you said, “I’ll stay with you. We ain’t leaving anybody.”
She looked horrified, and it was such an un-Zoe-like expression that it instantly freaked you out. “No—go, now.”
“No! You don’t leave friends behind!” You fought, gripping your dagger for dear life. An awful, awful feeling had taken over your body.
She pressed her mouth together unhappily, but some other look drew over her face, and she nodded once, determinedly.
She walked toward the dragon, voice calm. “It’s me, Ladon. I’m home.”
As long as I’m here, he should ignore thee, she had said. You waited for her to get closer to him before you shifted into gear, too. The aim being to draw attention away from Thalia and Percy. When they were past, you’d try to make your way up the mountain, and hope that Zoe going last would mean the dragon would let you mostly pass before you had to fight for your lives.
The eldest of Zoe’s sisters’ voice flowed in the air as they left. “Fool.”
“I used to feed thee by hand,” Zoe continued in a soothing voice. “Do you remember?”
There were many words you could think of to describe Zoe Nightshade in that moment and what had come before, but only one came to mind, full force—Brave.
She kept talking, and the heads switched their attention between you and her. Trying to keep it all solely off of Zoe, you watched it carefully, walking backward up the mountain, unable to watch your footing. Zoe caught on to what you were doing, and began to move, too.
For whatever reason, the air shifted.
The dragon lunged.
Two thousand years of training kept Zoe alive. She jumped over one set of heads snarling and snapping at her and tumbled under another set, springing to her feet. You ran together, at pace, at the same footsteps, toward the others. Your heart pumped furiously, pushing you onward, getting ready.
Percy had drawn his sword, but Zoe panted. “No! Run!” She screamed.
Something tensed inside of you. You looked to Zoe at your side, and your eyes widened, horrified. “Move!” Your hand reached out…
Too slow.
The dragon snapped at her side, and she yelped, crying out. Her footing slipped, but you didn’t hesitate to snatch her by the arm, holding her up. She didn’t stop, despite the obvious pain she must have been in.
You ran up the mountain, Thalia and Percy not too far behind. The dragon hissed and stomped, but as Zoe had said, he was trained to protect the tree. So he moved no further, no longer persuing you.
A song was in the air. Of sadness, of death.
At the top of mountain were ruins, blocks of black granite and marble as big as houses. Broken columns. Statues of bronze that looked as though they’d been half melted.
“The ruins of Mount Othrys,” Thalia whispered in awe.
“Yes,” Zoe said. “It was not here before. This is bad.” You watched for any aspect of pain, heart pounding.
“What’s Mount Othrys?” Percy asked.
“The mountain fortress of the Titans,” Zoe said. “In the first war, Olympus and Othrys were the two rival capitals of the world. Othrys was—” She winced and held her side.
“You’re hurt,” you said. “Let me see.”
“No! I’m not. It’s fine. I was saying, in the first war, Othrys was blasted to pieces.”
“But…how is it here?”
Thalia looked around cautiously as you picked your way through rubble and dirt, blocks of marble and broken archways.
“It moves in the same way that Olympus moves, right?”
Thalia blinked. “Right. It always exists on the edges of civilisation. But the fact that it is here, on this mountain, is not good.”
“Why?”
“This is Altas’s mountain,” said Zoe. “This is where he holds—” she froze. Her voice was ragged with despair. “Where he held up the world.”
You had reached the summit. A few yards ahead, grey clouds swirled in a heavy vortex, making a funnel cloud that almost touched the mountaintop, but instead rested on the shoulders of a twelve-year-old girl with auburn hair and a tattered silvery dress: Artemis, her legs bound to the rock with celestial bronze chains.
Zoe gasped and rushed forward. “My lady!”
Artemis shook her head as best she could, shaking. “No! It is a trap! You must go now!” Her voice was strained, and she looked to be in so much pain, that your soul cried out to help. She was covered in sweat, and visibly struggling.
Zoe was crying. Despite what Artemis said, she ran forward and dropped to her knees before her, tugging at the chains.
A booming voice spoke from behind you. “Ah, how touching.”
Everyone turned. Zoe sniffled, shifting on her knee to look as well. There the General stood in a brown suit. At his side was Luke Castellan, worn and weary-faced, alongside over a good hundred dracaenae bearing a golden sarcophagus. You didn’t need anyone to explain. You knew who that was for.
A head of dirty hair caught your eye. She was small next to Luke and the monsters, with a gag in her mouth and her hands bound. Luke held the tip of a knife against her throat. Her eyes were wide with pleading, and glassy. Annabeth. Your sister.
She met your gaze. And sent you only one message.
RUN!
“Luke,” Thalia snarled. “Let her go.”
Luke’s smile was weak, so weak, and pale. “That is the General’s decision, Thalia. But it’s good to see you again.”
Thalia spat at him.
Observant, as you always were, you paid attention to many things all at once; Percy’s awestruck eyes on your sister; Thalia’s pure disgust; Annabeth’s pain; Zoe Nightshade falling to rest from her knees; Artemis’s silver eyes drifting between every member present.
The General chuckled. “So much for old friends. And you, Zoe. How is my little traitor? I will enjoy killing you.”
“Do not respond,” Artemis groaned. “Do not challenge him, Zoe.”
It clicked instantly.
“Wait a second.” As it did for Percy, too. “You’re Atlas?”
The General’s eyes laid lazily on him. “So, even the stupidest of heroes can finally figure something out. Yes, I am Atlas, the General of the Titans and the terror of the Gods. Congratulations.” He drawled. “I will kill you presently, as soon as I have dealt with this wretched girl.”
“You’re not going to hurt Zoe,” said Percy. “I won’t let you.”
“You have no right to interfere, little hero. This is a family matter.”
“A family matter?”
“Yes,” Zoe said bleakly. “Atlas is my father.”

Pain. That’s all it is.
Y/N understands girls watching out for girls, and friends looking after friends. Nobody gets left behind.

so travis kelce (or rather, his team) has been frantically deleting old tweets that have resurfaced, in which he bodyshames people (but especially women), uses the r-slur, makes fun of autistic children, says it’s funny to watch fat people fall, and appears to be offended that they allow such “ugly”cheerleaders and female basketball players to exist.

and swifties, predictably, are going out of their way to DEFEND this man. because he’s taylor’s future husband in their eyes, and anyone who is good in taylor’s eyes is good in their eyes. swifties have proven time and time again that they ONLY care about misogyny when it happens to taylor. and they are even willing to defend brittany and jackson mahomes because if they hang out with taylor, then they MUST be good people! 🙄 (and we all know taylor swift is an infallible judge of character!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the excuses they make for this man are absolutely pathetic. what makes you so damn sure that travis has “changed”? he was calling women breeders on his podcast earlier this year and before that, talked about how it’s a dealbreaker if a woman won’t give him oral sex before the 4th date.
he has a PR team to help clean up his image since he joined the NFL, but that doesn’t mean he’s a genuinely better person or changed man.
and, i’m sorry, but swifties are the LAST fucking people on earth who should be telling people “it was 13 years ago get over it!”
they are STILL harassing all of Taylor’s exes from more than a decade ago, when All too well the short film came out they were demanding jake gyllenhaal’s head on a plate because *checks notes* “he stole taylor’s scarf” and “he made taylor wash the dishes!” 😡
they also accused jake of being a pedo and a groomer because of the 9 year age difference between two adults but have nothing to say about taylor dating teenage boys well into her 20s.
hell, they are STILL mad at joe jonas for breaking up with taylor over the phone back in 2008 and giving him shit for that. but when the bigoted tweets of taylor’s new boyfriend resurface we’re all supposed to just get over it and move on because people grow and change?? 🙄 what a fucking JOKE!

The war was coming.
Before Perseus Jackson arrived at camp, it was easy to brush the idea off, to convince themselves that the Prophecy of the Seven couldn’t possibly be fulfilled anytime soon; that all the current residents of camp would probably be buried six feet under before the seven were even born. But ever since Percy had arrived at camp all those years ago, it was safe to say that most of the older campers- and Chiron- could clearly see that Percy was simply way too powerful to not be one of the fated seven. It was never discussed, and it was an unspoken rule that the matter was never conferred about. The possibility of the fulfilling of the prophecy was kept from any new campers who would be reduced to panic- even Percy himself was kept blissfully oblivious, though he always was. You truly felt sorry for the boy; even Annabeth knew of the predicament he would be thrown into in the near- future, and it seemed unfair that someone so close to him (and who he obviously took a romantic interest in) would keep from him a secret so big.
And this was why Percy, the newer campers and the younger campers, were greatly confused by Chiron’s out- of- pocket announcement when he’d gathered everyone one summer morning. Without indulging in any formalities, he spoke.
“It is with the decision of both Mr D-” here, he glanced at Mr D through his peripherals, who, as always, looked bored whilst lazily stirring ice at the bottom of his red cup of Diet Coke with a straw- “- and myself that you are now all restricted from training and completing activities of your choice,” he declared in an empathetic yet firm tone which was not to be reckoned with. Despite the protests and whines of campers ringing out in the crowd, he continued in a slightly louder voice.
“In case of events the future holds, this would benefit you all greatly. This way, we can incorporate all skills needed to- fight- into activities at camp, so you will not be caught off- guard or vulnerable in any possible life or death situation. You will all be given schedules which work in a two week rotation, and you have to follow them. If not, there will be consequences.” At this, you noticed at the corner of your eye, standing some metres away, the Stoll brothers turned to each other. Usually, you’d stand with them in a little trio but you had been pointedly ignoring Travis after an incident a couple of weeks ago involving your shampoo and a neon green hair dye that the seemingly innocent boy had sworn he had nothing to do with. Now, if you hadn’t known the sly boy for the amount of time you had, you would’ve missed the way his eyes glinted with mischief, the way his facial muscles were twitching frantically, aching to laugh at your crisis- all of which caused you to be ignoring him in the first place.
You felt slightly guilty for having to avoid Connor due to the brothers’ closeness, as he was a very close friend with whom you held no grudges against, but your stubborn nature and will overrode the sorrowful feeling almost as immediately as it came.
You hadn’t even properly looked at them, and yet you knew they were giving each other almost identical grins at the prospect of even more rule- breaking. Connor’s, as you had come to know as sly and plotting, and Travis’s more playful and vexatious. That, you wouldn’t be able to forget even if you wanted to. And gods, how much you wanted to forget, yet at the same time want the image to never leave your mind; Travis Stoll’s wolfish, cheeky grin.
Travis Stoll. It was complicated. Sometimes you just wanted to wipe the stupid labrador grin off of his stupid face by shoving it down the stupid toilet; at others you just wanted to talk, and talk, and talk with him for hours on end, about anything and everything as you’d done many times. More often, particularly when he taunted you for your poor archery skills despite being a child of Apollo, you wanted to shove your bow and arrows so far down his throat he’d choke to death before he even had time to make another witty comment- they were useless to you anyway, you wouldn’t suffer much of a loss without them.
It was when you felt a hand on your shoulder that you finally snapped out of your daydream with a small gasp. A familiar, chipper voice which was far more interesting than whatever Chiron was droning on about now.
“How are we gonna win the war with your dumbass who can’t even hit an arrow at a target?”
Finding yourself face to face with a neon orange- clad chest, you looked up, although you already knew who it was. Those damn Hermes kids- always able to soundlessly, gracefully sneak up on people. Something you admired, but at the same time despised about them. Especially due to a certain, ocean- eyes individual.
You grumbled, shrugging his hand off of your shoulder. “Fuck off, you insufferable being.” Despite what your tongue said, you had admittedly missed the boy’s company over the last few weeks- the way he always raced you everywhere, the way you always taunted him while he swordfought with his siblings- but your ego. Your ego was too big to accept his half- assed apology that quickly, and you would rather die than tell him that.
He scoffed in protest and huffed indignantly, blowing a few stray curls off of his sticky forehead, beads of perspiration gleaming in the bright sun.
“What have I done now? I haven’t even been anywhere near you the last couple of weeks after…” he trailed off in an uncertain realisation, and his doubt was quickly confirmed after receiving a glare sharper than the knives they threw at targets during practice.
“Oh y/ln, you aren’t still petty about the hair?” he questioned, the slight exasperation in his voice overruled by the usual patronising tone he used when addressing you. Your huff and sassy cross of your arms confirmed his suspicions even further, and he let out a disbelieving laugh.
“Y/n, you ray of fucking sunshine? There’s a war coming soon, no time or place for holding grudges- and shame, I won’t be able to watch you shoot bull’s eyes in the arena every day,” he bantered challengingly.
Note sarcasm.
The little trickle of fondness which had found its way into your heart dissolved as quickly as it had formed, and a scowl wrinkled your pretty features.
“Shut the fuck up and listen-”, you hissed a sharp retort, proposing a peace treaty for now as you didn’t want to miss anything important. The curly- headed boy only smirked, relishing in his pleasure at knowing exactly how to wind you up and at his shortly- earnt victory, placing his hands in his pockets. Although Chiron had gained your attention once again, your mind was elsewhere- the fact that Travis was standing so close that you could smell his cologne and the unmistakable scent of the lime and apple shampoo, his regular, deep breathing and his foot gently tapping on the ground was just enough to make you hotter than the blaring sun ever could- and more irritated.
Shoving him, you scowled. “Could you not stand so close to me.”
He shoved you back. “Gods, okay, calm down. Don’t think I even want to stand next to you anyways.”
“Excuse me? If I recall correctly, you were the one who sauntered up to me with all your arrogance and bravado- stop laughing at me- STOP LAUGHING, I said!”
As Travis laughed at your indignant manner, you stamped your foot in frustration, taking your own turn to huff.
“You are so annoying- it’s obvious Connor is the better sibling.”
Connor, having cocked his head at the sound of his name from where he was standing a couple of metres away, grinned at you. You smiled back.
“Hey!”
“You can’t complain, you know exactly how and when to wind me up-”
“Y/N Y/LN AND TRAVIS STOLL!”
Chiron’s sharp voice rang out and caused the mentioned pair to jump.
“Since the two of you are so eager to be partners, you shall be,” he declared. You both looked at each other, his blue eyes squinted into upside- down crescents and nose crinkled in confusion. You grinned, seeing a window of opportunity to annoy him as he had you, and booped his ski- slope nose- just the way you know he hated.
“Y/n!” he groaned, exasperated, swatting your hand away uselessly. You just laughed and elbowed him, shushing him when Chiron gave you both a stern look once again.
“Which leads me onto my next point. You all will be in assigned pairs-” cue groans from all the campers- “-which I will read out now.”
What he said next fell to deaf ears as said pair looked at each other again, this time in amusement. You both were constantly in competition of everything and anything, often to the annoyance of other campers. This time was no different.
“You are going down, Stoll.”
“You’re on.” Travis smirked back. You nodded at each other mischievously and listened to what other shit, in your opinion, Chiron had to say.
“Pairs one to ten will be working on fitness- that includes the lava wall, archery and the climbing wall. Pairs eleven to twenty will be in the creative areas, so at the armoury, making shields, swords and for the younger campers, learning how to wear helmets and armour correctly. Pairs twenty- one to thirty-” here he gave you and Connor a reproachful look- “-physical training, so hand to hand combat. Pairs thirty- one to forty are on pegasus care and riding, and everyone else is on capture the flag.”
Before the centaur had even finished talking, you turned to the mop- headed boy.
“This is going to be fun.”
“Agreed,” he smirked.
Time skip bc I’m lazy and supposed to be doing history work rn lol
Standing in a fighting stance, you held your fists up.
“Come at me, Stoll.”
Connor grinned and threw a half- hearted punch at your side. You dodged it in one smooth move.
“That all you got?” you bantered challengingly. “Come on, even a baby karpoi will be able to defeat you in the war at this rate.”
“Taking it easy on you, y/ln.” He attacked again, this time aiming a swift kick at your legs, aiming to get you to fall. He wasn’t quick enough.
You grabbed his leg, which happened to be his dominant one, and gave it a sharp yank. He fell on his back with a small “oomph”, eliciting laughs from other training pairs.
“What’s up, Travis?”
He grumbled, rubbing the bag of his head, face slack in a daze. You took pity on him due to the uncomfortable embarrassment written all over his features, and good- naturedly reached a hand out for him to take.
He looked at it for a second as if it was alien, before smirking. You hadn’t realised your mistake until he grasped your hand tightly, used it as a leverage to pick himself up before twirling you around so your back was to him. He held his forearm to your throat, firm enough to keep you there but not enough to hurt.
“Fuck,” you grunted, twisting around in an attempt to escape. He laughed, and you felt his chest rumble, his lean muscles rippling slightly through his thin camp shirt.
“Going somewhere?” he taunted in a whisper, and if you weren’t blushing before you were now. His words tickled your ear and he finally released you, still laughing.
You flew at him, not in an attempt to hurt him but enough to catch him off- guard. Still laughing, he hadn’t expected it. You both went tumbling backwards into a wall, now your elbow against his throat.
He tilted his chin upwards, looking down his nose at you. “Stronger than you look aren’t you, y/n?”
The flirtatious use of your first name made your face burn up even more, and the fire spread to the rest of your body as your grip faltered. Connor smirked, eyes half- lidded. Seeing a window of opportunity at your flushed state, he spun you around once again; your back now against the wall. He caged you in- chest mere centimetres away from yours, face leaning down to observe you. You noticed his laboured breathing was just as turbulent as your own, ears as crimson as yours felt.
Until his smell hit you. The scent of apple and citrusy body wash was emphasised further by the amount he was sweating, making it distinctly more masculine, more attractive, more him. The heat was now spreading elsewhere, down to your core, causing an insatiable ache in the bottom of your stomach. It all made you feel weak to your knees, and you were now clawing uselessly at the wall behind you to stop yourself from falling.
As a final resort from doing anything you would later regret, you bit your lip and whispered huskily.
“Go fuck yourself, Stoll.”
His nose brushing yours, his breath fanning your lips. “Why don’t you do it yourself, y/n?”
That’s what did it, he could tell. He could see the lust in your darkened eyes only for a second before you grabbed the collar of his shirt, tugging him to meet your lips. Instantaneously, he groaned into your mouth as your tongues battled for dominance. You soon gave in to him, and let out an embarrassingly needy whine as his tongue massaged yours, imagining what it would feel like elsewhere. After its venture into your mouth, his tongue dipped back out and swiped across your swollen lips. After a playful nip to the bottom one, his lips disconnected from yours, and you felt his clothed crotch between your legs, grinding earnestly. A delicious groan left his mouth; he suppressed a desperate noise as your hands entwined themselves in his hair, pulling as hard as you dared yourself to. His hips disconnected from yours, and he held a hand out.
“My cabin?”
You took in his appearance. Swollen, saliva- coated lips, messier hair than usual, flushed cheeks- and a clear tent in his pants. You couldn’t help the smile from spreading across your lips; you had gotten him in this state, you and no- one else.
Your lips curved upwards at him, licking your lips, and took his hand.
Let’s just say you couldn’t walk properly for the next two days.

tell me about gardening? <3
funny u should ask about this one because... i truly do not remember what the idea behind it was! like i have no clue where it was going other than it involved the stolls and katie distracting annabeth with greenhouse work? but why? i have no idea!
snippet underneath to get an idea (and by snippet i mean most of it bc it's only a little over 500 words and i SERIOUSLY DON'T KNOW WHAT I WAS PLANNING.)
One day, Connor will get over the instinctual fear that rises up inside him when Percy Jackson begins to approach. That day, however, is not today. In his defence, Percy is a little bit taller than him, and he’s a son of Poseidon, and he’s survived literally everything, and he’s extremely handy with a sword… and there’s the whole thing about him being best friends with and low-key in love with his girlfriend (but not anymore!) Plus, on the outside, he’s just kind of an intimidating guy. A known dork, and a really, genuinely nice dude, but intimidating all the same. Travis appears to feel the same, perhaps a residual alertness from his days of covering up their fooling around. He straightens, and eyes his brother with a subtle urgency, as though Percy’s arrival would have somehow escaped his notice. Connor shoots him a look back that reads I got this. “Hey, is that Katie calling me? I think Katie’s calling me. I’m gonna go find Katie.”  Katie Gardner is not calling Travis, because she’s in the greenhouse, and has been since six in the morning. Travis’ excuse is as poor as his acting, but neither he nor Percy has time to question it, because he’s off the bench and practically sprinting away before his sentence is even finished. Traitor, Connor thinks. “Hey, man. What’s up?” Percy nods. “Hey. Can we talk?” He’s about to offer the guy a seat at the Hermes table, but it kinda looks like Percy wants to go elsewhere. Connor is many things, including stupid, but he’s not quite stupid enough to argue with a guy who took down several Titans. Even if that guy is wearing basketball shorts and a Thrasher t-shirt.  They’re a short distance away from the pavilion, just out of earshot of any lingering campers, when Percy finally speaks, breaking through Connor’s curiosity. He’d been wondering if he wants something - vapes are an increasingly common request, though he and Travis have been refusing to supply them to anyone under sixteen, citing black market morals as their reasoning. But he can’t really see Percy vaping, like, ever. The image is so wrong it’s comical. “Look, I’m gonna be out of camp for most of the day,” He shrugs, hands slipping into his pockets, “And she would have both of our heads if she knew I was asking, but… can you keep Annabeth busy today?” A joke immediately pops into Connor’s head. Thankfully, his survival instincts also kick in, and he tells himself that, just maybe, Annabeth’s boyfriend is not the best person to make that joke to. Instead, he nods.

summary; the gods are real. like, the greek gods. and apparently, you're a demigod. were you skeptical? yes. no time to question much though.
pairing; no romantic ones (yet) // clarisse la rue, annabeth chase, luke castellan, travis and conner stoll (all platonic)
word count; 1.9k
warning(s); none
a/n; whoop, my first series! might add a romantic pairing later on, but i don't think it's going to be percy or jason or leo since you (the reader) are a couple years older than them, around the age of the stolls (who to my knowledge are 15 in the lightning thief.)
takes place 3 years before the percy jackson books, reader & travis & clarisse are 12, connor is 11, annabeth is 9, luke is 16.
μηδέν. mother of mine
"So, he finally told you?"
You opened your eyes to an unfamiliar sight and an ache in your back. Where were you? And where had that voice come from?
"Hello?" You called. Propping yourself up on your hands, you could see that you had been laid across a set of marble stairs as if someone had tossed you there like a sack of potatoes.
Your vision was slightly blurred, like a white veil was over your eyes. There was a cool tingling feeling on your skin, like someone had rubbed alcohol on it.
Looking around, you realized you were at the entrance of something straight out of your history book — an ancient Greek temple. A massive one, at that. Four sets of towering columns were placed in neat lines along the edge of a marble platform, and on top of them lay an ornate marble ceiling. Fluffy gray moss grew along the bases of the columns, while lighter gray vines of ivy wrapped up around them.
Strangely enough, some parts of the temple were bleached so white to the point they glowed, and other parts were more of a light, slightly transparent gray, similar to smoke but much more solid-looking. The ceiling in particular was clear enough to see the night sky through it, which held more stars than you'd seen in your entire life.
Through the columns were plains of tall grass that were devoid of color. It rippled almost like water as if harsh winds were blowing through, but you couldn’t feel the slightest breeze. The rustling of the plains was muffled, too, like you’d placed pillows on your ears. Overall, the place felt like a whole other world.
"Where am I?" Your voice — muffled, you realized, just like the grass — wavered, the initial awe starting to subside and panic slowly seeping in. The logical explanation for this situation was that you were dreaming, but the soreness in your back and the cold marble under your palms felt too real for it all to be fake...
Had you been kidnapped?
"What do you want from me?"
The voice from earlier chuckled, sending a chill down your spine. It wasn't coming from any particular direction. If anything, it sounded like it was echoing from your own head.
"My child, it is not what I want from you as much as what you need from me." It said.
From behind some of the columns, you saw the first bits of color you'd encountered since you'd woken up at this place: blue lights, bright as the stars above, floating leisurely like big fireflies. Out of the corner of your eye, you saw a faint, golden light.
Suddenly, a dense mist flooded in from between the columns furthest from the entrance. From between the two middle columns emerged a wispy figure of a woman holding an old-fashioned reed torch in either hand, dressed in what you guessed were golden Greek robes.
Wait, no.. she came from between the columns furthest to the left. No, the right. Three smoky images of the same woman moved in unison toward the center of the temple.
To your surprise, you didn’t feel the need to run as she — they? — stepped closer. If anything, you felt drawn to her, like a chunk of metal to a magnet. You hastily stood up, feeling a little dizzy but otherwise fine.
The mist eventually subsided. Once the three wispy images were only a few feet away, they merged into a much more solid form, and your sight seemed to clear. You could make out her features.
Her skin was beautiful but deathly pale; the vibrant, turmeric-yellow robes with ornate golden designs that hung gracefully off her figure were the only thing that brought her some liveliness. Her blond hair was pulled back with a golden pin in a braided bun. Her face was like a Greek statue — pale, beautiful, and ageless — but her eyes were slightly unsettling. Squinting your eyes, you saw that they were a true inky black, irises and all. Not one bit of light reflected off of them.
You couldn’t quite pinpoint it, but the woman felt almost familiar...
"You're Hecate," you gasped, the realization hitting you like a truck. "The Greek goddess of magic."
"There’s one more title I hold, dear." Hecate smiled serenely, though it didn’t reach her eyes. "If you’d recall what your father told you..?"
Oh. The talk.
When your dad pulled you aside for a ‘talk’ around early evening, you’d expected him to bring up the birds and the bees. Instead, he had told you that the Greek gods were real and that you were the daughter of one of them — the goddess of magic herself. You’d been worried your dad had gone crazy, or if he was on something, or even drunk, but he looked so serious you had to promise not to tell anybody. You didn’t believe him, though.
"You can’t be my mother." You stood firm in your nonbelief. This had to be a dream, something your subconscious created because of the sheer nonsense you’d heard earlier that day. "You’re not even real. All of this is in my head. Besides, I already have a mom."
You immediately knew you’d said something you shouldn’t have.
The air grew colder as Hecate’s smile dropped the slightest bit, tilting now into more of a smirk. A green glow surrounded her as you began to feel lightheaded.
A searing pain exploded behind your eyes, and you fell to your knees, crouched over and gripping your head with both your hands. You tried to scream, only to discover that your voice had vanished. Memories you didn’t know you had started appearing one by one, and soon they were all whirling around in one big, jumbled, incoherent storm.
You could make out flashes of images — a pale woman in a dark coat watching as a young you played on the swing set with your two best friends… The same woman at the very back of the gymnasium at your elementary school graduation... And yet again the same woman handing your dad a little bundle of silk blankets, from which you could see the small fist of a baby sticking out to grab hold of anything it came across.
The pain stopped just as it had started, and you were left on the ground, cold and confused, with your eyes still tightly shut. You tried desperately to make something of all this new information, putting every memory into a neat little timeline just to make it all make sense. But the more you tried, the more you realized most of these memories weren’t new at all but rather variants of certain memories that you had never been able to recall in full detail.
"I can assure you that I’m quite real, my child." She said. You reluctantly looked up at her, shivering slightly from the cold. She’d come a lot closer in the last few moments. "The only reason you don’t have any recollection of me is because I swore upon the river Styx not to reveal myself or anything of my world to you before your father explained it all to you first."
She looked you over. "Although I can see that he clearly hasn’t done the explaining very well. As for your ‘mom’ — Delilah, was it? — I’m afraid she has no idea of anything, poor dear." She tsked, a bored look on her face.
"If I’m really your daughter, prove it." You spat, your throat hurting from trying to scream too much. Your head was still pounding. "Prove to me that this isn’t all some crazy dream. One of my nightmares."
"Nightmares?" Well, that certainly piqued her interest. "Tell me about these nightmares."
"I don’t know; they’re nightmares. Everyone has them." You were becoming irritated. Whether or not this was a dream or reality, one thing was for certain: you did not like the goddess of magic one bit. "Sometimes I’d have them a couple nights in a row, and they’d all connect, but they’re still just nightmares."
"Ah, but you see, a demigod’s dreams are quite special." Hecate said, smiling widely once again. "They often convey messages or show what may happen in the future. Tell me, have any of your nightmares come true?"
Your heart skipped a beat. You remembered one time you dreamt of your parents getting in a car crash. They were hit by a drunk driver on the way home from work only two days later. You’d stayed over at your best friends’ house for over a week so that their mom could take care of you when your parents were at the hospital.
"This isn’t giving me proof, mom." You said instead, not wanting to tell Hecate much about anything. You didn’t trust her, and giving her more information on you when she’d clearly been keeping well up to date on your life without your knowledge wasn’t beneficial for you. "Saying things isn’t going to make me believe. I need something solid, something real."
You took a deep breath as one of her eyebrows arched up. With her void-looking eyes, you couldn’t tell if she was amused or annoyed at what you had just said.
Then her smile grew wider.
"As I’ve said, child, you need something from me — or rather, some things would be more accurate, I suppose. Being a demigod comes with a few chinks and perks, and you’ll need my help to control and survive them."
"Wait, wait, wait. What the hell do you mean, ‘survive’? Am I in danger?"
"Why, of course." Hecate seemed almost gleeful at the mention of danger.
‘Some mother she is’, you thought.
"Danger comes naturally with being a child of the gods. There are monsters and gods looking for someone to smite, and don't forget the quests—"
Monsters? Quests? What kind of life had your dad brought you into?
"—which is why you’ll need me." She finished. There was a tinge of pale pink on her cheeks, as though the mere thought of tossing you in a pit with all sorts of nasty creatures was just too exciting. "As for the proof you requested... I’m afraid we have run out of time."
"Wait, what?" You were beginning to feel very stupid at this point. All you had were questions and a ‘mother’ who seemed uninterested in giving you any straight answers.
You looked at her expectantly, and she stared back at you. She seemed to freeze for a moment, then looked around the temple before settling her gaze on one particular spot on the left. Then she turned toward you again, the pink tint on her cheeks more evident than before.
"Check under your pillow once you wake up. Look after those brothers you’re so fond of; you’ll need them where you’re going." She rushed out, a green glow starting to surround her.
"Wait—"
"I’ll see you sometime soon, child." Hecate was now split into three images again, each one shoving something small, flat, and square into your hand. "Don’t disappoint me."
Hecate then disappeared. The temple began to crumble in her absence, with cracks appearing out of nowhere on the pristine marble. They wound up the columns and spread throughout the ceiling, creating shapes that resembled lightning.
Then everything came pouring down on you.

Hey, CTR. Want to know you real opinion.
Can we consider Taylor as a good person on her real life? Not talking about “Taylor Swift the brand”.
Because everything else about the brand makes me wonder how can she be like that?
She was doing a pr stunt with Matty and when his behavior gets on the table, like saying horrible things about Ice and boom her pr team decided to make a remix with Ice so they could clean up Taylor on that situation. When they “broke up” was not a relationship just casual. Hate how she does things when affects her.
And now she’s “dating” Travis and she’s hanging out with Brittany, helped Jackson with his pr image and after Travis drunk in Kansas, he alone in strip clubs in Vegas, her team strikes again and made him go to Singapore so they could again help to clean Taylor’s mess. Because all this are huge mess. Especially her stunt at the closed mall.
Sorry for the huge ask.
Thanks for waiting for me to answer this, Anon.
Can we consider Taylor to be a "good" person? I think this question, regarding anyone, is complicated. I believe you can have a moral compass that leads you to take genuinely good-hearted actions for the majority of your life. But we all go through things that test us. We all have had experiences we regret; times where we thought we'd take the high road but were tempted off.
All this to say... As I spend time here there are things that make me shake my head in disappointment. But, I would not stick around if I felt like at her core Taylor were a "bad" person. I think Taylor has done plenty in her life to prove that she has a kind soul; she genuinely cares about others. She's also a mega successful billionaire who is navigating fame, while closeted, while growing a family. I can't imagine the complexities she deals with constantly. I really think she does her best.
Well, that was my rambling non-complete answer. Hopefully you could take something away from it, Anon. <3

One of our favorite myths is the idea that all mid-life pregnancies are extremely dangerous and should be avoided at all costs. But, spoiler: That isn’t necessarily true. (By the way, same goes for those other pregnancy myths: Sweets will hurt the baby! Eating a whole pineapple will make you give birth! That half glass of wine you just drank in your third trimester means you’re a terrible mom! Don’t exercise! Stay away from coffee! The list goes on.) While a pregnant person older than 35 is considered “advanced maternal age,” according to the Mayo Clinic, other factors such as lifestyle choices (using alcohol or cigarettes), health conditions (high blood pressure, obesity), or carrying multiple babies also contribute to a high-risk pregnancy. And it goes without saying that many women, either older or younger than 35, need reproductive assistance to get pregnant. Related story Halle Bailey & 1-Year-Old Son Halo Cozy Up in Fluffy White Robes However, being of a certain age doesn’t always mean that you can’t give birth a perfectly healthy baby. And, at any age, surrogacy is a perfectly viable option. Whatever the route to becoming a mom, many of these celeb moms agree that there are definite advantages to delaying motherhood — just ask Salma Hayek, who gave birth to her daughter Valentina at age 41, which is what she calls perfect timing. “When you turn 40, it’s a lot easier than 30,” Hayek told USA Today in 2009. “They lied when they said you get old when you’re 40. The best is the 40s.” Hayek and the other fabulous celebrities ahead are proof that you can start your motherhood journey over the age of 40. So the next time some relative of yours takes an interest in your biological clock or you start feeling down about your future plans, take heart — and remind yourself how pregnancy worked out for Janet Jackson. Blessings to all the other families giving birth during this time.” Geena Davis Image Credit: Variety via Getty Images Not only did actress Geena Davis give birth to her daughter Alizeh when she was 46, she welcomed twins Kian and Kaiis two years later.  “I felt 100% that I would be such a better parent than I would have been even five years earlier and certainly 10 or 20 years earlier,” she told Good Housekeeping in 2006. “If I’d had kids earlier, I could easily have become one of those mothers who overinvolve themselves and try to live life through their kids. I’m sure there are younger people who have figured things out long before I did, but in my case, I became a parent with exactly the right person, at exactly the right time.” Joanna Gaines Image Credit: Variety via Getty Images HGTV’s Joanna and Chip Gaines welcomed their fifth child, a boy named Crew, in 2018 when Joanna was 40. “I kid with people, ‘If you ever want to feel young again, have a baby at 40,’” she told People. “It’s brought this whole new thing for me where I’m a lot more laid-back…” The couple also share daughter Emmie (born in 2010), son Duke (born in 2008), daughter Ella (born in 2006), and son Drake (born in 2005).  Jennifer Love Hewitt Image Credit: Priscilla Grant/Everett Collection In September 2021, 42-year-old Jennifer Love Hewitt gave birth to her third child, a son named Aiden, with husband Brian Hallisay. Of the third pregnancy, the actress told People, “We had always been open to a third, but definitely didn’t think in the crazy year that the entire world was having that it would necessarily be this moment…This has been such a pleasant, beautiful, surprising gift in this time to be able to get to do all that again with another little human. We weren’t closed off to the idea, it just wasn’t something that we were actively thinking about.” Keisha Knight Pulliam Image Credit: Variety via Getty Images Keisha Knight Pulliam welcomed a son in April 2023 at 44 years old. A version of this story was originally published in January 2016.  Gisele Bündchen Image Credit: Kristin Callahan/Everett Collection Gisele Bündchen welcomed a baby with boyfriend Joaquim Valente at age 44, per TMZ. The Brazilian supermodel also shares kids Benjamin and Vivian with ex-husband Tom Brady and is stepmom to Brady’s son Jack who he shares with ex Bridget Moynahan. Lindsay Mendez Image Credit: Variety via Getty Images Actress Lindsay Mendez welcomed her second child at 43 years old in Sept. 2024. The proud mom confirmed the exciting news to People, saying she and husband J. Alex Brinson are “absolutely over the moon” to welcome their “sweet” baby girl, Ruby Beck Brinson. “Special shout out to my unbelievable husband, J., who is, without a doubt, my hero, valiantly serving and caring for all the women in this family and taking every step in stride,” Mendez continued. “I love you so dearly.” The Broadway star has another daughter from a previous relationship. Kourtney Kardashian Image Credit: Photo by Gotham/WireImage. At 44 years old, Kourtney Kardashian welcomed her and Travis Barker’s first son together, Rocky Thirteen. Kardashian and Barker are now a family of seven, with each already having three children from previous relationships. Barker shares adult kids Alabama, Landon, and stepdaughter Atiana with ex Shanna Moakler, and Kardashian shares kids Mason, Penelope, and Reign with ex Scott Disick. Sienna Miller Image Credit: Photo by Darren Gerrish/WireImage. In photos obtained by Daily Mail, it was confirmed Sienna Miller and her boyfriend Oli Green welcomed their child together. Along with having a daughter named Marlowe, she welcomed her second child with Green at the age of 42, in late 2023. Hilary Swank Image Credit: Gilbert Flores for Variety At age 48, Hilary Swank welcomed her first babies with husband Philip Schneider — a twin son and daughter born in April 2023. “It wasn’t easy. Although she was already a seasoned mom — the Pulp Fiction star also shares kids Maya and Levon with her ex-husband Ethan Hawke — she told Yahoo that “everything feels new” the third time around. Céline Dion Image Credit: Billboard via Getty Images Céline Dion didn’t just give birth to one baby at 42 years old; she gave birth to two. Dion and her late husband René Angélil welcomed twins Eddy and Nelson in 2010 after six IVF treatments. She is also mom to adult son René-Charles. Salma Hayek Image Credit: Quoin Pics/Everett Collection Salma Hayek gave birth to her daughter Valentina, when she was 41. “I had my child so late in life, I thought I wasn’t going to be able to,” the actress told People. “It was such an important thing to me.” Jane Krakowski Image Credit: Variety via Getty Images 30 Rock star Jane Krakowski gave birth to her first child, Bennett Robert Godley, in 2011 when she was 42. According to People, after the birth Krakowski remarked, “Bennett is an amazing, healthy sweet boy and we are both just crazy in love with him.”  Julianne Moore Image Credit: WWD via Getty Images Actress Julianne Moore and husband Bart Freundlich welcomed their daughter (and Moore’s mini-me) Liv in 2002 when she was 41. Moore’s first child, Caleb, was born five years prior.  Gwen Stefani Image Credit: CJ Rivera/Everett Collection In 2014, Gwen Stefani and her ex-husband Gavin Rossdale welcomed their third baby, a boy named Apollo, when Stafani was 44. The former couple also share sons Kingston (born in 2006) and Zuma (born in 2008).  Mariah Carey Image Credit: Kristin Callahan/Everett Collection Mariah Carey welcomed twins Monroe and Moroccan, with ex-husband Nick Cannon, at age 41.   Rachel Zoe Image Credit: WWD via Getty Images Rachel Zoe was 42 when she gave birth to her second child Kaius in 2013. Two years prior, she welcomed her first son Skyler. The fashion guru shares both children with husband Rodger Berman.  Tina Fey Image Credit: Kristin Callahan/Everett Collection Tina Fey welcomed her second child, Penelope Athena, when she was 41 years old (an older sister to Fey’s daughter Alice). The actor and comedian said she “agonized” over whether to have a second child.  Susan Sarandon Image Credit: Variety via Getty Images Susan Sarandon welcomed her sons Jack Henry Robbins at age 42 and Miles Guthrie at age 45. The Thelma & Louise star gave birth to her first child, daughter Eva when she was 39. Alanis Morissette Image Credit: Rich Polk/Billboard via Getty Images Alanis Morissette and husband Soul Eye welcomed their third child in 2019, a son named Winter, when she was 45 years old. So, I’ve learned never to say never.” Alyssa Milano Image Credit: Variety via Getty Images In 2014, Alyssa Milano gave birth to her second child Elizabella, when she was 41. “My daughter! My daughter! My daughter!” she tweeted after the birth. “Elizabella has made my heart swell and ache with love. Thank you for your sweet messages.” She welcomed her first child, son Milo, in 2011. Nicole Kidman Image Credit: WWD via Getty Images Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban welcomed daughter Sunday Rose in 2008 when Kidman was 41. Their second daughter Maragaret was born via surrogate two years later. Kidman also shares two adopted children, Connor and Isabella, with ex-husband Tom Cruise.   Naomi Watts Image Credit: Elizabeth Goodenough/Everett Collection If she could do it all over again, Naomi Watts — who gave birth to son Kai when she was 40 (following the birth of son Sasha when she was 39) — might have done things differently. The actress once told More “I should have had more kids, started younger.” Watts shares her children with ex Liev Schreiber.  Lena Headey Image Credit: Priscilla Grant/Everett Collection Game of Thrones star Lena Headey welcomed her second child at age 41. “…Just fallen in unconditional heartbreaking divine love for the second time,” she tweeted upon daughter Teddy’s arrival in 2015. She will be free to dance, to sing, to be educated in the fields that spark her passion, to marry if she wants, to marry WHO she wants, to remain single, or to fall in love with another woman. She’ll be able to wear what she wants, put on lipstick, and read books that spark debate and expand her mind.” Spoken like a true queen!  Madonna Image Credit: Christopher Polk for Variety Madonna has four adopted children  — David Banda, Mercy James, and twins Stella and Estere — and two biological children, Lourdes and Rocco whom Madonna had at age 38 and 41 respectively. Meryl Streep Image Credit: Elizabeth Goodenough/Everett Collection Meryl Streep has four children — Henry, Mamie, Grace, and Louisa — and the youngest, Louisa, was born in 1991, days before Streep’s 42nd birthday.  Helen Hunt Image Credit: Variety via Getty Images Helen Hunt was 40 when she gave birth to her daughter, Makena Lei in 2004 whom she shares with ex Matthew Carnahan. In 2019, Hunt stepped back from the spotlight, in part to focus on motherhood. “It’s so funny when people ask: ‘What happened to you?’ Well, I had a baby – I made a whole person – and I co-wrote, directed and produced two entire films so it didn’t seem so quiet to me,” she told the Guardian. “There’s a difference between working hard and being famous.” Brigitte Nielsen Image Credit: Priscilla Grant/Everett Collection After undergoing several IVF treatments, actor and model Brigitte Nielsen proudly gave birth to her fifth child in the summer of 2018. She was 54 years young! Savannah Guthrie Image Credit: Kristin Callahan/Everett Collection While Savannah Guthrie always wanted to be a mom, the Today anchor wasn’t sure parenthood was in the cards. Guthrie previously told People she thought it was “too late” for her and hubby, Michael Feldman. “[I thought] we’d lost our chance.” But Guthrie became pregnant with their first child at 42 and gave birth to their second when she was 45. Rachel Weisz Image Credit: Variety via Getty Images In 2018, at age 48, Rachel Weisz gave birth to her second child, her first with husband Daniel Craig. The couple typically stay mum about their private lives, but during the pregnancy, Weisz couldn’t contain her excitement, telling US Weekly, “I’ll be showing soon. Daniel and I are so happy. We’re going to have a little human. We can’t wait to meet him or her. It’s all such a mystery.” Weisz also has a son named Henry Aronofsky (born in 2006), with director Darren Aronofsky. Tamron Hall Image Credit: Kristin Callahan/Everett Collection Television anchor Tamron Hall welcomed her first child, Moses, in April 2019, when she was 48.
