Not Just Suits & Briefcases: The Real Deal on Business Travel ✈️👔
Hey Tumblr fam! Let's talk business travel.
You see the pics – the airport lounges, the fancy hotel rooms, the quick snaps of a new city skyline. Sometimes it looks super glamorous, right? Like you're a globetrotting VIP living the dream.
And yeah, sometimes it is cool. Seeing a new place, even for a short time? Awesome. Meeting colleagues or clients face-to-face? Often way better than another video call. Those hotel breakfasts? Don't mind if I do! 🍳
But let's get real. Business travel is also about:
Early mornings & late nights: Red-eye flights, anyone? Catching that 6 AM train? Prepping for a meeting after a long travel day? Yup.
Living out of a suitcase: Mastering the art of rolling clothes, deciding which one extra pair of shoes you can maybe fit, and praying you didn't forget your phone charger (again).
Airport realities: Security lines, potential delays, navigating unfamiliar terminals while juggling coffee and luggage.
Solo dinners: Sometimes it's nice quiet time, other times you're just scrolling through your phone feeling a bit lonely.
The actual business part: Remember why you're there? Meetings, presentations, networking – it can be intense!
So, how do you make the most of it? 🤔
Here are a few thoughts on surviving (and maybe even thriving) during business travel:
Pack Smart: Carry-on is your best friend. Versatile clothing items are key. Noise-canceling headphones? Essential. Portable charger? Non-negotiable.
Stay Hydrated & Try to Sleep: Airplane air is drying, and jet lag is real. Drink tons of water and try to adjust to the local time zone as quickly as possible.
Sneak in Some 'You' Time: Even 30 minutes to walk around a new neighborhood, grab a coffee from a local spot (not the hotel chain!), or just decompress can make a huge difference. Explore if you can!
Embrace the "Bleisure": If your schedule allows, can you add a day before or after to actually see the place you're visiting? Talk to your company – it's becoming more common!
Connect (Beyond the Meeting Room): Chat with your colleagues over dinner, strike up a conversation with a local. It makes the trip less isolating.
Business travel is definitely a mixed bag. It's work, but with a different backdrop. It can be tiring, stressful, but also exciting and a great way to broaden your horizons (literally!).
What are your best business travel tips or funniest stories? Share them in the comments/reblogs! 👇

Watching the devastation of the Amazon and of the Atlantic rain forests makes me wanna puke, even in a time when electing the most sickening event of the past 2 weeks faces a major competition.
People who know me will say I was never the “tree hugger” type. Nothing against them, but it is just not who I am. However, it does not mean that I, as most of the Brazilians do not feel we have the duty to take care of our forests. The vast majority of us, even the poorest, acknowledges how important it is. And nowadays we all know the 2 greatest enemies of the Brazilian rich ecosystems: Jair Bolsonaro, our President and Ricardo Salles, an environmental criminal, ironically vested into the role of Brazilian Environment Minister. The latter was the one caught on camera telling the president and his team that “we have to take advantage that all the media is focusing on this pandemic in order to try passing all necessary legislation (in favor of deforestation) by the bunch”.
Brazilians incredulously watched that video in revolt. Believe me, we are mad. All the Brazilians I know are mad. Individuals, Non-Profit Orgs, journalists, political parties and prosecutors are trying day and night to fight those Brazilian assholes in power. Despite the poverty, the unemployment, the tiredness, the 615,000 infected people and the 35,000 covid deaths, we are still trying hard to keep the resistance against all the wrongs, which became even more evident during this pandemic.
The picture above was taken in the state of Bahia, at Praia do Forte. This region is an important hub for sea turtles who come every year to lay their eggs (always at the same beach where they were born themselves). Ricardo Salles is also trying to stop all projects aimed to protect this area.

The old motto “be prepared” echoes every time I pack for our next adventure, and it always involves weather concerns and what the rain might do. As we leap-frogged our way along the trail, slowly looking for spots in the mud that wouldn’t end with us sliding over the edge of the ridge, I found it a bit ironic after so many years of showing up with a bright red rain jacket and destroying the scenic photos @paigewilhog would try to take, here I was, dodging rain drops, attempting to take scenic photos with a bright red rain jacket making its way in front of me. To be fair, my travel jacket is now electric blue and highlighter green, but I guess that just makes us even 😉 - - - #travelstoke #travelawesome #exploremore #adventure #adventureisoutthere #optoutside #getoutside #mytinyatlas #roamtheplanet #getoutstayout #theglobewanderer #femmetravel #dametraveler #hiking #hawaii #outdoors #outdoorlife #getoutside #travel #instatravel #travelgram #welivetoexplore (at Wiliwilinui Hiking Trail) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bsa5Pw9h3X1/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1d6c4u8b9bfg1

Sunset gives me chills.. ironic isn't it? Sun is hot but it gives me chills. 😂 It gives me chills because it's so magical.. Watching the sun goes down is still a mystery for me (I know it scientifically) but watching it by your naked eyes is just so magical and mysterious. Watching it makes me sad and I don't even know why..but at the same time it's giving me high hopes that there will be a great, incredible, unforgettable Tomorrow for all of us. Another day to look forward to.. another day that you have already claimed to be yours because of your plans.. another day that you'll smile again. Not all people in the world would be able to see a Sunset, and none of us would ever understand the feeling of seeing this beautiful moment. Cherish all the sights you're seeing and keep that feeling you have felt the moment you have seen it, it's amazing! ❤ P.s. this was taken while we were riding a RoRo ship back to our accommodation (that accommodation is my bestfriend's relatives' home lol) #chawmeynflies #travelgram #travel #travelasmuchasyouwant #adventure #sunset #God'screation #vsco #photography #wanderlust #wander #live #laugh #love #watergirl #beach #beachlover #Philippines #itsmorefuninthePhilippines #emotions #sharedemotion #nature #naturelover #igtravel

There are many such forts of kings in India, which are a unique story in itself. One such fort is that of the Raisen Killa (Fort), near Bhopal. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Made of sandstone, this fort has large rock walls around it. These walls have nine gates and 13 bastions. Many kings have ruled here, one of them being Sher Shah Suri. However, he had lost his sweat in winning this fort. It is said that even after four months of siege, he could not win this fort. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ There is also a very mysterious folklore associated with this fort. It is said that the king Rajsen here had a stone of Paras, which could also make iron into gold. There were many wars for this mysterious stone, but when Raja Rajsen was defeated, he threw the Paras stone into a pond located in the fort itself. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 📸: @apurv_28 ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ 🛎 Book Now: www.bistarhostels.com ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ #bistarhostels #hostelworld #mptourism #architecturephotography #travelgram #travelhistory #architecturedesign #historical #historicarchitecture #ancienthistory #travelguide #historybuff #todayinhistory #travelingram #traveltheworld #travelphotography #instatravel #igtravel #maps (at Raisen Fort) https://www.instagram.com/p/COkr73hJzG1/?igshid=yymzoni8fqvi

DANDELION JUICE - YUCK ㅋㅋㅋ I take six different types of juices every day here in Korea but the one that I find most difficult to get down is my dandelion juice. nevertheless it has countless benefits that cannot be ignored so even if it's the last thing that I want to do I always down it before I go to bed. In Korea it is cheap to buy good quality stuff, definitely much cheaper than all of those green drinks that people are paying a fortune for in North America 10 Benefits 1. One of the most effective toxin removers (blood, lymph and liver cleanser) 2. Highly nutritious Dandelion is a source of fibres and vitamins A, C, K, E, folate and small amounts of other B vitamins. It provides minerals like iron, calcium, magnesium and potassium. 3. Dandelion are full of antioxidants 4. Boosts immune system 5. May fight against HIV 6. Promotes liver function and is an excellent liver cleanser 7. May help fight inflammation 8. May help to treat anemia 9. Support the treatment of chronic ulcers, joint stiffness and tuberculosis 10. May help to control blood sugar and type 2 diabetes #korean #food #korea #먹스타그램 #southkorea #daily #travel #일상 #asia #foodie #맛스타그램 #foodstagram #koreanfood #koreanstyle #instafood #맛집 #먹방 #travelgram #asian #asiafood #vegetarian #pectovegetarian #koreanfish #koreanfruit #koreavegetable #korearestaurant #kimchi #gimchi #bibimbap #생활영어 https://www.instagram.com/p/CN2ckesB8vG/?igshid=ya0u4y6u6ly1

Genoni and Sini (Sardinia). New trips to Sardinia. Giara. The basaltic plateau of the Giara (from glarea - gravel), of volcanic origin, is 4400 hectares wide and 609 m above sea level. Its plateau is divided between the municipalities of Gesturi, Genoni, Tuili and Setzu, while several others share its slopes, such as Gonnosnò and Sini, localities from which I had access. The vast plateau is known for the presence of the pony introduced in Sardinia by the Phoenicians (Iron Age) or even by the Numidians. Over the centuries they have created a particular habitat. The Giara is also characterized by impermeable paulis (marshes) which give rise to various species with a genetic background that is 5 million years old. There are also woods, Mediterranean scrub, grasslands, garrigue and a vast and particular fauna. Images. Giara di Genoni: grazing horses; Perdas fittas in Bruncu Suergiu. Project 366 - Day 213 There are few places on earth which I call the picture-postcard towns. These are the places where even in the days of quick communications, you feel like buying a collection of picture-postcards and send to all your loved ones. Let me introduce you to one such town today. Welcome to one of the oldest living towns of Europe - Hallstatt. In fact, it is often said that "before there was Rome, there existed Hallstatt". It is a quaint little town located in the area known for its production of salt, dating back to prehistoric times. In fact, the town itself has given its name to the Hallstatt culture, the archaeological culture linked to Proto-Celtic and early Celtic people of the Early Iron Age in Europe, c. 800–450 BC. I will share more about Hallstatt and other picture-postcard places in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, here is the first picture-postcard of Hallstatt from my collection (of course captured by yours truly). #project366 #366project #366photochallenge #366photochallenge2020 #throwbackthursday #travel #explore #igexplore #wanderlust #travelgram #travelphotography #thegreatplanet #ourplanetdaily #beautifuldestinations #theglobewanderer #moodygrams #discoverearth #roamtheplanet #stayandwander #streets #cityscape (at Hallstatt, Austria) https://www.instagram.com/p/CD1MmBBB2dH/?igshid=12ztwocvsnls3

Why we switched to hotel apartments? If you’ve been following our journey✈️ since the last month or so, we have definitely changed a few things up. Like we don’t carry 4 suitcases and 2 handcarrys everywhere we go now🤭. Once on a train ride from Austria 🇦🇹 to Liechtenstein 🇱🇮 we were asked if we were world travelers. However Saba still ends up with 3-4 shoes 👠 per trip (even if they are weekend trips). An important change has been our accomadation🏠. During our travels last year, we noticed we spent quite a bit on hotels alone. Hence we switched to staying in hotel apartments, we actually stay in one at home in Krakow 🇵🇱 that somewhat gave us the confidence to make this change. We have been absolutely in love with this switch over. We stayed in our first trip after lockdown was lifted in Wroclaw🇵🇱 and since then it worked out so well we ended up staying in hotel apartments for our following two trips🚌. Benefits: 1. Spacious 2. Amenities (ac, iron, microwave, washing machine) 3. You meet locals👭🏻 4. Homely🏡 environment 5. Reasonable 💰 Disadvantages: 1. 24-7 room service 2. No concierge Few of the things we really want in hotels we stay in specially during summers🌞 is air conditioning and microwaves. We usually end up having left overs we like eating🍜 late night after a whole day of exploring so its a bummer when there isn’t a microwave in the room and/or room service. ***Fun story about this picture📸: Saba despite the 4 shoes 👠 she travels with has my nikes on since she forgot hers at home😂, don’t tell her I told you guys. #girlstraveleurope #hungarianparliament #budapeststreets #traveleurope #budapesttravel #budapestgram #budapest🇭🇺 #ig_budapest #hungarygram #topbudapestphoto #budapest_hungary #travelbythrive #travelcommunity #girlstravellingsolo #girlstravel #girlsborntotravel #sheisnotlost #damestravel #girlslovetravel #ootdfashion #whatshewore #summervibes #travelcouples #travelbloggers #lifestylebloggers #reserved #travelphotography #travelgram #traveltagged #hotelapartments — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/2CQfST4

This is Frankfurt am Main. Once, when I was a kid, I heard my godmother saying that she disliked travelling over Frankfurt because it was too big of an airport. She told me it was the biggest in the world and it was very easy to get lost there. It scared me. As a little girl who had never left Brazil, I promised myself that when I grew up I would never go to that airport. All types of negative fantasies came up to my mind: that I would get lost and would never be able to leave. That because I could not speak the language, nobody would understand me. By that time, it never occurred to me that, IF, as a little girl I would fly over Frankfurt, it would certainly be with my parents or other family members. What is ironic is that, by that time, I would never have imagined one day I would be living in Germany and would have to fly all the time over Frankfurt. Nowadays, it is not anymore the biggest in the world (I don't even know if it ever were), but still annoyingly big. Oh, and I do get lost there sometimes! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #travel . . . . . . . . . #travelphotography #travelblogger #travelgram #viaje #instatravel #stories #vacation #vacations #wanderlust #tourism #tourist #trip #traveling #traveler #storytelling #storyteller #holiday #photooftheday #fun #instapassport #frankfurt #frankfurtairport #germany #bridge (at Frankfurt, Germany) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bsd_4FgFHFu/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=i8ll690apcxk

Morons, 2006 Banksy - The Great Communicator in Trieste, Italy Showing an auctioneer conducting a sale to a room packed with bidders, Morons is based on the historical moment when van Gogh’s Sunflowers achieved a hammer price of GBP 22.5 million at Christie’s on 30 March 1987, setting the record price for any work of art at auction. This moment marked the beginning of a new era in the art market, with the emergence of mega lots fetching absolutely staggering sums of money. In Banksy‘s version, the large canvas being auctioned humorously bears the words, in block capitals “I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU MORONS ACTUALLY BUY THIS SHIT”. Banksy mocks the crowd, representing art collectors in general, who are ready to bid huge sums of money in order to acquire artworks. Some even doing so just to speculate and resell at higher prices, transforming the art market almost into a commodities trading market. Ironically, Banksy himself is now at the center of intense bidding from art collectors willing to purchase his works for very high prices. This artwork was exhibited for the first time at Barely Legal, in Los Angeles. Banksy also released a screen-print on paper, in various colorways. I shot this picture in one of my trips to Dublin, some years ago. I feel that when I travel I find my place, I like feeling little and nonsense, and the best place to feel that is somewhere where nobody knows you, and where nobody notice you. Dublin was a place like that, with sparkling life and music at every corner, in every street, people singing people reading out loud from books or poetry they just had written, the food scent all around, the dark pubs full of persons who had never met earlier and which would have never met later either, probably, but who were best friends or lovers for the time of a beer. God! I loved Dublin! All the colors, the noise, the beer and all that life! I actually have one other reasons I wanted to share with this picture. I was thinking about how things were then and the difference with how things are now, all that people who walked with me for a long or short period and which I lost along the way. Feelings are just as ethereal as the summer breeze. They come and go, incessantly, ineluctably. I remember holding the hand of a friend, I remember trying to figure her out, trying to dig in all that darkness, trying to light that darkness up. I remember giving it all up then, I remember being tired, sad, disillusioned. I remember misunderstandings, jealousy, rage, and the remoteness that followed. But again: no worries. I’ve learned after all to let it go, to laugh at my pain, because even if I feel a little more hardened than before, more ironic, more cynical maybe, I truly feel good when I let it go. And even if "sometimes they come back", they’re just a laugh away from balance. I feel I forgave everyone for the pain they’ve caused, But at the same time I don’t really have energy to spare for them.. #dublin #ireland #visitireland #visitdublin #guinnessbeer #noworries #everydayphilosophy #philosophy #staystrong #letitgo #motivational #motivationalfriday #wanderlust #travelphotography #travelblogger #traveltheworld #vagabond #whereami #likeforlikes #irelandtravel #ireland_gram #dublinwalls #dublinart #dublinstagram #travelgram (presso Dublin, Ireland) https://www.instagram.com/p/B-zxv7GH8JC/?igshid=1o5ow70t1zvll

Twelve years would pass before I sat in the stands again to watch the Kids and Kubs play ball in St. Petersburg, Florida. George Bakewell was now ninety-nine, catching for Pappy Hill. “Okay, Pappy, right over the plate!” Bakewell said, adjusting his jaunty bow tie and flashing two fingers between his legs. Pappy Hill, pushing eighty, slipped on a pair of glasses and leaned in for a look. He took off the glasses, put them in his pocket, and stung a strike into Bakewell’s glove. It seemed to me that these guys had been taken off Father Time’s mailing list. If Babe Ruth were alive, he would have been two years younger than Bakewell. “You get better and better, George!” shouted a woman sitting next to me. It was another gorgeous winter afternoon in St. Petersburg, and the start of George Bakewell’s thirty-seventh season. He rarely struck out. “Watch this!” George said, trotting over to the woman who had yelled at him. He kissed her. 99 year old George Bakewell had just gotten back from his honeymoon hiking in Switzerland. A fellow like that naturally attracts a following. “The Kissing Bandit,” another woman called as she waved him over. He smooched her. George’s kissing fans don’t fluster his new bride, Bonnie. “Let him have them. I don’t care. He’s mine. They’re not going to get him.” Some of the new guys would like to be in his cleats, but Pappy Hill didn’t train like George. “I smoke fourteen cigars a day,” he admitted. At eighty-seven Bakewell jumped rope a couple of hundred times just to keep his blood pumping. He warmed up with an eight-pound iron bat. “See that little egg?” Bakewell said, flexing his arm and pointing to his muscle. Before the game he rode a stationary bike twenty miles. Some said he could circle the bases faster than the scorekeeper could keep score. (The scorekeeper was ninety.) Every three days or so, whenever one side begins to score more than the other, club officials get together and trade players to keep the games even. A player plays whatever position he feels up to that day. “You know, I wouldn’t be opposed to hitting a ball and falling dead on the way to first base,” Bakewell said. “I wouldn’t be opposed to that at all. That’d be a nice way to go.” At season’s end George Bakewell turned one hundred. #yeahthatgreenville#instagood#instamood#instadaily#bestoftheday#iphoneonly#nofilter#igdaily#instalove#igaddict #travel #instatravel #travelgram #tourist #tourism #vacation #traveling#trip#americanstory#makeitmemorable #1K1H#AmWriting#AmEditing#AmRevising#CopyWriting#EditGoal#Editing#IndieAuthor#MyWANA#ScriptChat#WIP#WordCount#WriteChat#WriteGoal#WriteMotivation#WritersLIfe#WriterWednesday#Writing#WritingBlitz#WritingPrompt#WritersBlock#WroteToday#syracusebdj#podcast #itunes#broadcast#broadcaster#motivationmonday#youtuber#motivatinalquotes #youtube#morningshow #image #tv #live #radio #tvnews#journalist#television#followme#instafot#instalike#sport#journalism#picoftheday #photooftheday #instagood #instadaily#instalife#blogger#radio#podcast#itunes#broadcast#broadcaster#motivationmonday#youtuber#motivatinalquotes#youtube#morningshow #image #tv #live #radio #tvnews#journalist#television#followme#instafot#instalike#sport#journalism#picoftheday #photooftheday#instagood #instadaily#instalife#blogger#radio

Volterra's Etruscan Gate, the "Porta all’Arco." With elements dating from the 4th century BCE, this gate predates the Roman subjugation of Volterra by some 300 years. Sounds old, right? Well, get this: The city itself shows signs of settlement before even the Etruscans by an Iron Age people of the Villanovan culture who arrived in northern Italy from Central Europe sometime around 10 BCE. So, really, this gate is just kinda middle-aged for Volterra. 😉 . . . #travel #travelgram #travelwithkids #lpfanphoto #familytravel #familytrip #wanderlust #traveldeeper #tmom #tdads #travelwriter #traveling #adventurefamily #familyjaunts #travelfamily #traveler #europeantravel #europeantour #traveleurope #europetravel #volterra #visititaly #tuscanygram #volterra (at Volterra, Italy) https://www.instagram.com/p/BobsW0DlLXD/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=61s9y52z6r2h

Ales (Sardinia). Is Floris road and alleys. Walking through Ales. Slim guide for passengers and wayfarers. We cross again the Santa Maria square, never lost sight of and always central to our ride, to visit the ancient street of Is Floris. The Sardinian expression means "flowers", but in in reality, the reference is to the ancient way of naming streets, that is to give them the name of the families who lived there or who were most prominent in the place. Floris is a Sardinian surname and it refers to the name of the street, so much so that the wide countryside that borders the area, even beyond the street is called Su cungiau de is Floris, or "Floris land". The road, which has almost preserved its ancient serpentine shape, has however lost some features characteristic, such as ancient portals, replaced by less attractive iron gates. We present what remains. Here, a portal in the first alley, coming down from the square, the door of an ancient fodder deposit, a corked window in the same deposit and signs of the ancient construction, not exactly plumb, which stands in front of it. #floris #alleys #wayfarers #ride #expression #flowers #naming #sardinia #ales #surname #borders #serpentine #characteristic #fodder #gates #volgosardegna #sardiniaexperience #igeroristano #travel #traveling #visiting #instatravel #travelling #tourism #instatraveling #travelgram #travelingram #massimopistis #sovVERSIvi #estremisti Information for the purchase of my new book "Estremisti!": the book at a cost of 12.00 euros (120 pages), can be ordered in bookstores (ISBN 978-88-591-5719-9 - Publisher Aletti) or online on the page http://www.alettieditore.it/emersi/2019/pistis.html from the link below. https://www.instagram.com/p/B7O5v_jIyva/?igshid=pefmczicwnt6

#castle 😍💕 Repost @instabritain ・・・ Deep in an ancient pine forest, beside a fastflowing river, on a high snowbound mountain pass, among rich rolling farmland, and perched on cliffs some 50 feet above the sea. These are some of the spectacular settings for Aberdeenshire’s 263 castles: there have been more here per acre than anywhere else in the British Isles. Most you can see, many you can visit – and some you can even stay in. 📸: @monalogue This corner of Scotland had strategic importance across centuries of turbulent history – invasions and war, rebellion and uprising, independence and occupation were all played out here. The evidence is in the remains of Iron Age hillforts, in ancient clifftop ruins, medieval fortresses, Scottish baronial castles, Jacobean mansions, and fortifications added in the 18th century. .🇬🇧 #scotlandsbeauty #scotish #scotland #uk #photosoftheuk #visitscotland #unitedkingdom #travelgram #doyoutravel #travelmore #goexplore #wonderfulplaces #openmyworld #lovetotravel #beautifuldestinations #wanderlust #worldtravel #worldtraveler #travelbug #adventurethatislife #instatravel #travelbloggers #travelblogging #instapassport #bloggersofinstagram #wanderer #thattravelblog #travelphotography
