Wandering Worlds
DickKory | Core Four Centric | Cannon Divergence | Longfic
Summary:
The story begins with the death of Dick Grayson. His life taken by his own brother, Jason. Consumed by grief, Rachel gives in to despair, losing control, a portal opens, but from it no destroyer of words come through. Instead a man who looks just like him, how can he be? The Titans, and especially Kory has to mourn their fallen leader and deal with this stranger with a lot of issues of his own. After that, when everything seem to be settling, Kory is forced to return to Tamaran, but she wasn't as alone in her destiny as she thought, neither her family of choice was willing to let her go that easily. But politics in Tamaran can be as complicated as travelling across universes.

Part Four â Voyagers
Chapter Twenty-eight â What makes this fragile world go 'round?
As Kory let Xoyanâg lead her and Dick to the stables, as shouldnât be anyone there at this hour, she felt like she was jiggling multiple plates and balls with both of her arms broken. Calming down Karras and trying to explain to him that there was no master plan (although, there was one, but it didnât not involve Dick coming after her), to make him believe her, had sucked up all her political stamina, when playing the perfect princess at their engagement ceremony had already sucked her dry. Kory was very uncertain if he had believed her truly or just lied to her just like he was accusing her of lying to him.
âThis is just like Okaara,â he sneered as soon as Dick disappeared thought the herbarium doors taking the better part of Koryâs heart and sanity with him. âI thought with Faddei gone you would remember your duties, and maybe find space in your heart for me, for us, but I was wrong.â
âKarras, this has nothing to do with Faddei.â
âNo... You are right. It was never Faddei. Never was. If him,â he pointed to the door, âif this torq proves anything,â he spat the slur for outsiders and Kory bit the insides of her cheeks to not attack him. And maybe that was her mistake, because if she still were the person that used to run through the Okaara Palaceâs walls with him, she would âis that I have never even had a chance.â
âKarras,â she tried, his name rolling through her tongue like rocks, she didnât have time for this âlisten to me-â
âWhy should I, Koria?â And at that moment he looked so honest, so sad, she wanted to pity him and some part of her did, but she just couldnât afford to spare the feelings he now claimed to belong rightfully to him as if Koryâs heart was like the crown, and Karras Faddeiâs natural successor.
For Kory knew Karras loved her, and she had loved him too, all her life. But they were never in love, they never been in the position of being in love. A Royal Marriage was about a lot of things. But not about that kind of love.
They were promised to each other of course, grown together, and had a bond that couldnât be broken easily, that had survived over distance, time, politics, the loss of Faddei, of their childhoods and the world they once knew. Still, Kory had never considered that he had been in love with her in the past. Or believed that all he had to do was wait and one day she would love him like that. She thought they were on the same page, but she was wrong.
She was wrong about a lot of things lately.

âItâs never going to be me, wonât it?â
âI will marry you,â she promised again but the words fell flat.
He gave her a sad smile.
âNot if you can find a way out.â
Kory sighed.
âWhat you want me to say? Iâm not going to lie to you, I respect you far too much.â
âRespect...â He hummed considering, âIf thatâs all you can offer me, Iâll take it, but Koria, be careful, you know how much IÂ care about you, but between you and the whole of Tamaran, I know my duty.â
Kory took a relieved breath although she was aware she had just heard a veiled threat.
âI donât expect anything less from you.â
And when he had finally left her alone, saying that he too needed to think, Kory had to hold herself together, her entire body shaking. Why couldnât things jut settle down for a moment? She felt a million years old.
She dragged herself out of herbarium, her whole body and soul screaming for her to run upstairs and hold her baby. She should be awake. Kory was relying on a loyal servant to take care of her, but...
A servant from Karras, since her entire court was in Tamarus pretending that Kom still had the crown.
Xhaâl... What if he... He wouldnât. And Dick... Dick needed to know about their baby. What would he say? Heâd hate her when he found out that not only she had given up on the live they had together, their Rachel and Gar, their Team, and had stolen from him the birth of his child.
He should do just that. He should hate Kory. He should hate her and take their baby and run far away.
But how was even possible that he was really there? How could a miracle happen twice? And what had been the cost this time? Rachel once told her that the other universe, where he had come from, had do die for her to break him through. Not only Planet Earth. A whole universe had to die so they could meet.
Kory knew that and still she left. She left because that was her destiny and that was her duty. But now her soul cowered just with the notion of that the child she loved no less than the one that grew inside of her had to sacrifice to get him to Tamaran, to Kory.
And where were she? Where was Gar? For the past year she forbid her heart from asking those questions but now they were banging on her brainâs door with the urgency of a thousand battalions. The urgency of a concerned mother.
At the end, her legs took her to where he said he would be, and all the truths locked inside her throat were about to spill when her fatherâs best friend interrupted and then took them to the stables.
âTejang, I donât think this place is safe.â Kory winced at how eerie was seeing Dick talk to a man she knew all her life, it was like two realities, nothing alike, colliding, and somehow making sense.
âItâs the better we can make now, Ajik.â
âThen we should speak English,â said Kory in more parts than she could admit due to the queasy feelings that seeing him speaking Tamaranean caused in her.
âNo,â breathed Dick âsomething else, the men know English.â
Dick just fit in that structure, as a warrior, as a second in command, as the ward of a powerful Knight.
A shiver ran through Koryâs spine, and not for the first time she felt like fate was punishing her for taking the wrong path even though he had given up everything she loved to go back to the right one.
âWhy would teach them that?â She asked upset at how easily he gave away the walls between the two worlds, how he didnât seem to care to separate Earth and Tamaran. He didnât understand.
âWhy would you leave us?â
She stared at him, words choking her.
He could never understand.
Lip trembling, Kory rose her head to the General.
âLoquerisne latine?â
âLoquor.â
She saw Dickâs eyebrows rise, evidently surprised that from all languages, Latin was common between the three of them.
âYou Majesty,â began Xoyanâg in latin, âI know this man as a fellow warrior, I found him with no memory of who he was almost a year ago, before even I received the good news of your return. He has been a loyal soldier, and an unreplaceable asset to the Resistance. Weâve come to learn his real name and parts of his history recently, after he had already become Ajik to us. After he was already my brother and saved my life in battle countless of times. But I understand now that to you he is someone else.â
âI never meant to lie to you, Tejang,â Dick said, his tone a little desperate, it awfully reminded Kory the way he sounded while talking to Bruce, âNever. If I concealed my relationship to the Princess was because I had no way to prove, and to protect her.â
But Xoyanâg was no Bruce Wayne, and he unleashed his sword, pointing it to Dick.
âI ask you, then, my lady, what is this? Who is this man that I had been committing treason without knowing by harbouring?â
âTejang!â Dick cried again, and Kory put herself between him and the point of Xoyanâgâs sword.
âHe is Niwakâli.â
The word she said, in Tamaranean, meant, âthe one with royal blood blossomed life withâ, and it was clear from Xoyanâgâs expression and Dickâs silence that only one of them knew what it meant.
Xoyanâg lowered his sword, Kory could basically see the wheels turning in his head. She was the Rightful Queen, but she also had spoiled the bloodline and betrayed their strongest allies. She could end any chance of ever winning that war and uniting Tamaran again.
âDoes Prince Karras know?â
âYes,â Kory assured him.
âWhat are you talking about?â Asked Dick, pulling Koryâs wrist and trying to make her look at him. âWhat did you call me?â
âUnhand the Princess!â
Kory ignored the outrage on the Generalâs face, and made to move to free herself from Dick.
âIâm trusting you to keep this a secret, my lord.â
âMy lady, I donât understand.â
âI donât blame you. Yet, it is paramount that you keep this a secret, our victory depends on it. Are you loyal to Tamaran, General?â
âWith the entirety of the life-force that shall join X'halâs when the glorious time comes.â
âThen donât betray me, even if right now it looks like Iâm a traitor.â
âIâd never have such thoughts, my lady.â
Kory bit back the answer she wanted to give, that if that was the case, after everything that Tamaran had been though and was currently going through, he still had that sort of blind faith in a member of the Royal Family, he was a fool.
âThis is a secret not even the Niwakâli knows, General. Protect it with your life.â
âWould you please tell me what this word means?â
Dick pulled Kory one more time and she turned back to him right in time to see Karrasâ personal guards bust in and take Dick down with a starbolt.

Look, this chapter is not very good, but I'm tired of suffering over it, maybe the next one will be better, maybe it won't. It is what it is. Engaging with me and the fic always helps tho.

Lightsmas
This is for @deckof-dragons, who I have to thank for being so patient with me when I was supposed to post this on Christmas and wasnât able to. Deck, you are and have been a wonderful friend, and I am very excited to go read my gift fic. I wasnât allowing myself to look at it until I posted yours, so prepare for some gushing. ^_^
Rating: G
Pairing: Entrapdak
Summary: Lightsmas is supposed to be the happiest time of yearâŠ. (Sad Entrapta, Hordak doing the comforting hours today.)
-
Hordak huffed, tugging at the knitted cap Entrapta had pulled down over his ears. âWhat is the purpose of this again?â
âTo keep your ears warm!â
âHm.â It was, indeed, keeping his ears warm butâŠ
âYou donât like it?â
He glanced at her, noting the way her brows had furrowed. No doubt she was already trying to find another way to keep his ears warm if this method didnât please him. âI did not say that.â His ears twitched, their movement restricted by the warm hat. âIt is simplyâŠodd. I will become accustomed to it in time.â
âOkay. You know you donât have to wear it, right? We can try something else.â
He waved her off. âYes, yes. If it becomes uncomfortable, I will remove it.â
âJust let me know. I think a hood might keep you just as warm, but it would be less restrictiveâŠ.â
He paused. âA hoodâŠ?â
His interest must have been obvious, because she grinned broadly and said, âA hooded cloak would probably be perfect for you, actually. Let me go grab oneââ
She was already running back into the castle before he could say another word. He sighed, but a fond smile tugged at the corner of his mouth. Sheâd been so concerned for his comfort when the snows first arrived, it was difficult not to find it endearing. He was grateful, tooâhis body fat percentage was very low, leaving him rather more vulnerable to the cold than he liked to admit.
When she returned, he traded the hat for the hooded cloak and nodded to her. âYes. This is a significant improvement.â He adjusted the hood and looked to her. âWe are ready now?â
She nodded vigorously and both climbed aboard what she was currently calling âDarla Juniorââa hovercraft with a duplicate of Darlaâs AI patched into its her circuits. As they traveled, Entrapta spoke about her hopes for the craftâthat sheâd be able to link her back up to Darlaâs main craft to expand the AIâs experiencesâand her concernsâthat âDJâ would develop too quickly past Darlaâs capabilities and wouldnât be able to be reincorporated.
âOf course, that just means DJ would be her own separate entity and I really canât be too disappointed about that! Iâd just like to see what Darlaâs capable of when introduced to more stimuli. Space is fascinatingââ He smiled just a touch, hearing how she stretched the word out. ââbut it doesnât have nearly the same variability found planet-side. Particularly when organic life is present.â
âAre you concerned about her capacity? âDarlaâ was developed as a spacefaring vessel. It is possible this manner of exploration may stretch her capacity for learning past her limits.â
Entrapta nodded. âThatâs why I split DJ off from Darla.â
Hordak nodded. âI see. And this sojourn isâŠ?â
âAn experiment!â
âNaturally.â
Their craft slowed at the border of Torq, Drylâs capital and the nearest city to Crypto Castle. The afternoon sun faded early at this time of year, and it was now dark enough to see the city was lit by strands of white lights. Hordakâs ears twitched. âThat isâŠnew.â
She nodded, lowering her face mask. âMmh-hmm. Itâs to celebrate Lightsmas.â
ââŠLightsmas?â
Her hair coiled and her hands fluttered. âItâs a celebration. For the end of the year and the start of the new. Thereâs some cultural significance to it. I could find you some sociology papers on it if you like.â Her voice lacked itâs normal exuberance when revealing new information to him.
His ears folded down. âI believe I would like that.â
âI, umâŠforgot to mention. I have something to take care of before we go home.â She didnât raise her mask even as DJ came to a stop in one side-street. âDo you want to come?â she asked him, head cocked but face still concealed.
He studied her. âYou do not seemâŠpleased by this task.â
Her pigtails shrugged. âYou can wait here if you like.â
That was not an answer to his implied question, but Entrapta was already heaving herself out of the cockpit and into the snowy streets. Hordak followed suit, though he used the steps.
The icy air made him pull his cloak more tightly around him. She scanned him, and he knew she was using the heat-sensor setting to check for developing cold spots on his body. âThis shouldnât take long.â
He followed a few steps behind her, taking note of their surroundings. The fine hairs on the back of his neck were pricked up, and not because of the cold. White lights were strung from every building, creating zig-zag patterns over the street. Evergreen boughs were wrapped around street lamps and hung over the lintels of every door. Orb-lights bobbed in windows and white ribbons hung from the eaves of every house.
He raised a brow-ridge. This âLightmasâ had more cultural significance than Entrapta had implied if he were to judge by the amount and uniformity of the decorations alone.
Then again, he did not think it was a deliberate omission. Rather, it seemed caused by a lack of enthusiasm. She did not bounce or frolic or marvel at the streets around them. Instead, she trudged through the snow, mask down. Committed, but reluctant nonetheless.
He paused. âStarlight?â
The name caused her to freeze. Her hand clenched closed and her hair coiled into a tight knot. âPlease,â she said, voice muffled by the mask, âNot right now.â
âAs you wish.â
She took a deep breath, and they continued their lonely trek through the snow. Just as he was beginning to wonder where everyone was, he heard singing up ahead. His ears folded down. It was not the singing of trained vocalists, but the singing of a massive group of people. More like organized shouting than anything else. They lyrics were only occasionally audible, and made little sense to him without context.
The city square came into view, and he could see children running past with long sticks spitting sparks from their hands. It seemed much, if not all, of the cityâs occupants had gathered there.
Hordak hesitated only a moment, still apprehensive of gathered Etherians, before he followed Entrapta into the cityâs square. A ripple went through the crowd as they caught sight of her, parting with a cheer to let them through.
The crowd shouted at them as they passed. Hordakâs ears folded back at the assault, though he recognized by their smiles that this was meant to be a positive thing. Their various greetings and good wishes were jumbled and indistinguishable, but the general idea that they wanted their Princess and her consort to have a pleasant Lightsmas was conveyed.
At the center of the crowd, Entrapta ascended a dais to a further eruption of cheers. It was all Hordak could do not to flinch at the volume. She gestured for him to remain at the base of the dais while a man approached her. The townâs leader, Hordak thought, though he couldnât remember his name or title.
âGreetings, Princess! Happy Lightsmas!â
Entrapta waved with one pigtail. âHi.â
He waited, smiling, as if he expected something more. When it wasnât forthcoming, he cleared his throat and spread his arms wide. âItâs always good to see you here, fulfilling your royal duties. Lightsmas was always so important to your parents. I know theyâre looking down on you with prideââ
âMhh-hmm.â She nodded noncommittally. âThanks.â
His welcoming gesture flagged. âUh. Will you beâŠsaying anything this year? Your mother always had such heartening speechesââ
âNo.â
âOh. Um. Just the fireworks, then?â
She nodded and pulled a small data pad from somewhere. With that, she crouched, gremlin-like on the stage and began fiddling with the data pad. The man hovered behind her. He raised a finger and seemed about to ask a question when she sat back on her heels. âDone!â
From elsewhere in the cityâor just outside itâa high-pitched whistle began to grow louder. A streak of light appeared in the sky, and a loud BOOM! accompanied the sudden starburst of light that shimmered over them. Everyone gathered oohed and cheered, but Entrapta just remained huddled on the dais, hunched over the pad. She passed the data pad to the main, explaining quickly how the emergency override worked if something went wrong, then she hurried down the steps toward Hordak.
âYouâre leaving? Wonât you stay for the feast?â
âNo, thank you.â
âNot even for the fireworks?â Another high-pitched whistle interrupted him.
The loud BOOM! made Hordak flinch, the sound bringing up less pleasant memories. âNo thanks!â she said again. âWeâll watch them from somewhere else.â
âOh. Okay.â
No one but him seemed to notice that they were leaving, too distracted by the light show. As they retraced their steps to DJ, Hordak walked beside Entrapta rather than behind her. The flash of fireworks overhead cast strange, shifting shadows in the snow and lit the powder with unnatural colors. âYou are upset,â he observed.
She shrugged, but didnât deny it. After a few moments, she said, âEveryone loves Lightsmas. Itâs supposed to be fun butâŠ.â She shrugged. âItâs just loud. And bright. And cold.â
âI see.â He followed her for a few steps. âWe do not have to remain where it is loud and bright and cold.â
âYou donât want to watch the fireworks?â She raised her mask, sounding hopeful.
He watched the next streak of light, flattening his ears. âI believe I have seen as much as I care to.â
She smiled a little. âChef went home to her family for the holiday, but I think we can manage tiny hot chocolate by ourselves.â
âI am quite sure we can.â
âAnd she probably left some tiny cookies in the kitchen!â
They walked in silence for a little longer. Entrapta seemed noticeably bouncier. As they reached DJâs door, though, she paused and said, âLightsmas is supposed to be the happiest time of year, but even when my parents were here, I neverâŠ.â She touched her mask, but didnât lower it. âYou can stay if you want. You donât have to leave because of me.â
âStarlight, I have never heard of this holiday before this moment. It holds no significance for me. If you do not wish to celebrate, then we simply wonât celebrate.â
She lowered her hand and smiled. Letâs go then!â She clambered into the cockpit, and he followed in a more stately manner. âOh! Before we go home for hot chocolate, do you mind if I run a few tests more on DJ? I want to see how she handles in fresh snow.â
âI can think of no better way to spend the evening than experimenting with you.â
Her hair wrapped around him and with a grin, she threw the craft into gear. âThenâletâs go!â
Darla jerked away from the street, engines humming as they sped over the snow. Overhead, the fireworks lit the sky, unnoticed by the two scientists encased in their craft, more enamored with each other and their experiment than the spectacle of light and sound.

Since being a runaway slave in the Outer Rim isn't exactly easy, she makes the Mandalorian an offer he can't refuse and soon they travel across the galaxy, looking for her missing husband.
Chapter index
Chapter 5 - Tatooine
Sinead turned the memory bank over and over, the metal warming up between her hands. Most of her life she'd found herself in close proximity to a mechanic, so learning proper droid maintenance had never been a priority, something she regretted now, looking down at the lifeless box.
A pleasant and familiar hum surrounded her as the ship hurtled through the dark void, lulling her into a sense of calm she hadnât felt since leaving the ruins. Even now, hours later, she felt the presence of it lurking in the back of her mind.
Suddenly, the world tilted, and Sinead crashed to the floor. The memory bank few out of her hands and skipped across the floor. She pushed herself up on her hands and knees, when the ship rocked violently, making her cling to the bunk to keep from being thrown clean across the ship.
Two alarms started wailing in tandem.
She gritted her teeth and grabbed hold of a rung on the ladder, climbing into the cockpit before the ship shook and tipped wildly.
The Mandalorian was in the pilotâs seat, his hands flying across the dashboard, flicking switches and trying to stabilize the ship. The kid was strapped into his seat, his head swirling around to look at all the light coming to life.
Sinead sat down and pulled the safety harness over her shoulders.
"What the hell is going on?"
"Company."
The Mandalorian jerked the steering handles and the ship spun away, a volley of blaster bolts whizzing past the window.
According to a screen on the console, a small starfighter flew directly behind them, firing every time the Razor Crest was still for long enough. They'd never be able to outrun or outmaneuver it.
Cold dread expanded from the base of her spine, making her muscles twitch and tense. Every sound seemed dull, like she was hearing it from inside a vacuum.
The starboard turbine was hit, showering the cockpit in sparks as the shock traveled into the main engine. A third alarm joined the cacophony.
Sinead swallowed hard and found her voice. "Doesn't this hunk of metal have any shields?" She grabbed the armrests so hard her knuckles turned white.
The stars turned into streaks as the ship careened to the side, another round of lasers streaking past the window.
It had to be pirates, not many were brazen enough to attack a gunship, even out in the Outer Rim. Maybe this time sheâd die instead of-
A shadowy figure flickered to life above the dashboard. "Give us the child, Mando," it said, its voice clipping in and out. "I might let you live."
Sinead looked at the child, who gurgling nervously to himself. She wanted to reach over and reassure him, but the harness was too tight. Why would anyone want the kid badly enough to attack them for it?
And explosion rocked through the ship, and underneath there was a sound of metal groaning.
Flashing lights danced on the Mandalorianâs helmet.
âHold on.â Mando sent them into a wild spin, the stars turning into white streaks as all sense of direction spun away as quickly as the ship.
It felt like Sinead had been dropped down a bottomless well.
The hologram warped as power redirected. âI can bring you in warm, or I can bring you in cold,â it said before cutting out completely.
There was no way the other ship wouldnât blast them to smithereens the first chance it got.
Mando hit the brakes, and the ship hung unmoving in the air, before the starfighter screamed past it, scraping against the Crest with a sound like an old hovercart in a trash compactor.
Mando fired once, and the laser ripped through the small vessel before it had a chance to spin around and attack. The ship exploded, leaving glittering debris like stardust in its wake.
Sinead sat back in her seat. Her entire midsection felt bruised from the harness, but the alternative was being a smear on the window so she couldnât complain.
âNice flying.â She didnât mean for it to come out sounding so sarcastic, but fear and adrenaline still coursed through her veins, making the blood rush in her ears.
The Mandalorian either didnât hear or ignored her, as he checked the status of the ship.
âLosing fuel,â he mumbled mostly to himself.
Sinead undid her safety harness and reached over to the child. âAre you okay there?â
The kid laughed as the power went out and they found themselves in complete darkness.
âI think heâs okay,â Sinead said, gently booping him on the nose. âPlease say weâre not stranded out here.â
âI think I can redirect the power,â the Mandalorian said, getting up and flicking a switch at the back of the cockpit.
The ship came to life, a sad, sputtering one that wouldnât last long, but enough so that Mando could propel it towards the nearest planet, an orange dust ball hanging in the void.
âAre you gonna tell me whoâs after the kid?â
Mando glanced at her over his shoulder.
âYou know, this whole silence thing is getting old. At least come up with a lie like the rest of us.â
Mando glared at her, and Sinead offered him a sharp smile.
The planet was getting closer and closer when Sinead leaned forward. âWhat is this place even? Or are you not going to answer that either?â
âTatooine.â
âOh, thatâs just great.â
The Mandalorian adjusted their course toward a small smidge on the planetâs surface. âThe Huttâs been dead for years, and he hasnât been replaced yet.â
Sinead made an uncertain sound. âYet, but Iâm sure the clanâs just waiting until the region is stable again. Theyâre not exactly the type to give up a planet without a fight.â
âYou been here before?â
âNo, but Iâve heard itâs a desolate hellhole.â
Gold-orange crags and sand dunes took form as they cruised over the surface, the ship groaning with the effort it took to keep them in one piece.
Sand. She really hated sand.
The comm came to life and a scratchy voice filled the cockpit.
âThis is Mos Eisley tower, weâre tracking you. Head for bay 3-5. Over.â
âCopy that. Locked in for 3-5.â
Mos Eisley was nearly impossible to see, a sandstone city poking up through the sand which piled up at the walls making the squat houses look like igloos in the desert. A communication tower rose from the center of the city, its blinking lights the only reason most travelers spotted the city from the air.
The ship wobbled as it made ready for landing, and new alarm blared. The Mandalorian turned it off with an irritated slap on the console.
The kid had fallen asleep sometime after the excitement of the dogfight died down, and the Mandalorian left him sleeping on the bunk, while Sinead retrieved the memory bank, which had ended up on the other side of the ship and stowing it away in the nearest compartment.
Mando looked at her. âMaybe you should stay in the ship.â
Sinead blew out a deep breath. âAs you said, the Huttâs long dead. I can take a look around his old palace, see if thereâs something we can use.â
âJust be careful.â
Sinead snuck a glance at the Mandalorian. He wasnât looking at her.
âSure.â
Even before the ramp was down, Sinead felt the hot, unyielding fingers of the desert close around her throat. Dry heat snuck under her clothes, making her mouth feel as dry as the surroundings. Cold, unwanted memories pushed to the forefront and she took a second to put them back where they belonged, a dark and unused corner of her mind where they wouldnât get in the way.
Three pit droids hurried toward the ship the second the ramp touch down, their rusty bodies bouncing over dusty ground like springs.
The Mandalorian pulled his blaster and shot once at the ground in front of the droids, who screeched and collapsed into small heaps, cowering in f-ear.
Sinead yelped and pressed a hand to her racing heart. âFuck, Mando! What is it with you and droids?â
âHey!â A shout rang out from inside a cluttered garage, and a short human woman wearing greasy overalls stormed out from behind a safety barrier. Her short stature was almost made up by her rather gravity defying hair. âYou damage one of my droids, you pay for it!â The way she was brandishing a heavy wrench left exactly how heâd pay for it up to interpretation.
âJust keep them away from my ship,â Mando ground out, shooting a look at the droids who scurried away.
The mechanic gave him an unimpressed look. âYeah? Do you think thatâs a good idea, do ya? Letâs take a look at your ship.â
She walked around it, noting every dent and scratch on her datapad. âLook at that,â she said, holding a scanner up to the ship. âYou gotta lotta carbon scorching building up top. If I didnât know better, think you were in a shootout.â
Sinead stepped forward before the Mandalorian had a chance to reply. âWe ran into a meteor shower out by the Torq. Barely made it planet-side, to tell you the truth.â
âUh-huh,â the mechanic lifted an eyebrow, but she stopped asking questions, turning around to continue her inspection. â⊠a special tool for that one. Oh yeah, Iâm gonna have to rotate that.â
The Mandalorian rolled his shoulders, and Sinead bit the inside of her cheek. That all sounded very expensive.
âYou got a fuel leak! Look at this, this is a mess. How did you even land?â
âLike I said, just barely.â Sinead shifted her weight from one foot to the other. âHow much for it?â
âThe repairs you need ainât exactly cheap-â
âIâve got five hundred Imperial credits,â the Mandalorian said.
The mechanic grabbed the credits and have them a good look. âThatâs all you got?â When the Mandalorian didnât magically procure more money, she looked at the droids. âWell, what do you guys think?â
The droids tittered in unison, and the mechanic shrugged. âThat should at least cover the hangar.â
âWeâll get you your money.â
âMm, Iâve heard that before.â She gave both Sinead and the Mandalorian a skeptical look.
âJust remember- â
âYeah, no droids. I heard yaâ. You donât have to say it twice.â
Sinead looked back at the ship as they left the hangar, a thin pillar of smoke was rising from the turbine and the mechanic had already started banging around underneath it.
The second she stepped out into the blaring sunlight, her face stung with sand being blasted through the street. If she never had to step foot in the desert again, she'd die a happy woman.
"So, what's the plan?" She asked the Mandalorian, who didn't look bothered in the heat. Of course, since she couldn't see his face he might be dying underneath the helmet. The T-visor seemed completely black in the sunlight.
"Iâll head to the cantina, see if I can find work. Don't get too close to the palace, the Hutt's guards might still be around."
Sinead gritted her teeth. "Right, I have been in these kinds of situations before you know: I'm not helpless."
"That's not-" the Mandalorian blew out a sharp breath and shook his head. "Never mind."
Sinead made her way to the Hutt's palace alone, reminding herself to breathe regularly, not too deep and not too shallow. She was just a tourist walking alone, not a runaway slave from the very clan that until recently had an iron grip on the planet. The people walking past her weren't staring, they didn't recognize her at all.
She clenched her hands so they'd stop fidgeting. It felt like someone was watching her, a burning spike to the back of her head.
A market had been raised in a big square, rows and rows of hastily put together stalls crisscrossed in a confusing jumble. Shouts from the many vendors mingled in the air into an incomprehensible wall of sound. A Besalisk was grilling sweet meats over an open fire, holding a skewer in each of his four hands. The meat sizzled as Sinead walked past.
Two Jawas screamed in unison at everyone who came close enough to their stall, doing little to entice anyone to stop. Piles of scrap spilled into the street, and the Jawas screeched in indignation whenever anyone accidentally stepped on it.
Sinead ambled down the rows, trying to look like she was browsing the goods without attracting so much attention that anyone would talk to her. Most of the wares being sold were practical, tools and dried food, spare parts for droids. Under a moth-eaten pavilion that offered little in the way of shade, she found a small booth filled with trinkets that looked like they had been ripped straight out of the bowels of a ship. There were brooches made of twisted metal and rings that doubled as lug nuts.
An old woman sat on the other side of the stall. She wore ragged clothes that at first glance made her look like a scarecrow left out in the sun for too long, and it wasn't until she moved that Sinead noticed her. Her face was disproportionately small for her body, resembling a walnut someone left on top of a pile of old laundry.
"See anything you like?" Her voice sounded like a trash compacter filled with rocks. "I make 'em myself."
That wasn't hard to believe. Sinead hummed politely and picked up a brooch made from cogs and a rubber binding. "Iâm afraid jewelry isn't that high of a priority right now."
Her wrinkles deepened as she pursed her lips. "Meh, people don't even know what they need until it's right in front of âem. Tell yaâ what, I'll give you a good deal, okay? The earrings for fifty creds."
Sinead couldnât help but snort. The earrings in question were made from old circuitry, the hooks so rusty that wearing them was a surefire way of getting a nasty infection. "Fifty is a bit steep, don't you think?"
The old woman grinned, showing her one snaggletooth poking over her lower lip. âLow price to pay for beauty, innit?â
Tapping on the table Sinead though for a second before saying, "tell you what, I'll buy one of your-" she gestured to the assorted jewelry- "wares ⊠if you can give me some information in return."
The old lady grinned again, her tooth a terrible distraction, looking like a broken roof shingle. "Let's hear it then. What'ya want?"
"Oh no, information first, then the sale."
A shadow fell across the woman's face as she glared Sinead, her watery eyes studying her face. "If I didn't know better, I'd think you didnât trust me."
Sinead kept her face carefully neutral. "Past experiences have taught me to hold payment until after I get what I want. Iâm sure you understand, right?"
There was a cruel glint in the old woman's eyes. "You bet I do. Ask away, dear."
For one long moment, Sinead blanked on what to ask her. She wanted to talk about the Hutt, but the old crone had done nothing to inspire trust.
"The entire galaxy was turned upside down when the Empire fell. How was it here?"
The old woman cackled and folded her wizened hands over her stomach. "You haven't seen our little art project out by the wall, have yaâ? A little parting gift from us to the Empire."
"Who controls the planet now? The New Republic-"
The old woman spat on the sand.
"... right."
"We control ourselves, dearie." Sinead had never heard a term of endearment used with so much venom. "We ain't need anyone come here and tell us how to run our own damn home. After they got the message, most of the bucketheads left. The ones who didn't, well, they make a good decoration, don't they?"
"A place outside the grip of the Empire and the Republic sounds nice."
"Sounds like you have something to hide."
Sinead shrugged. "I don't like tyrants or bureaucracy."
"We got rid of our old tyrant years ago, ain't ever looked back since," the old woman sneered,
There we go.
Sinead shifted her weight and leaned closer. "Heard about that on the subspace, that's nasty business. Any chance the Hutt's head is hanging with the others? I'd like to go give my goodbyes in person."
The old woman peered at Sinead. "Sounds personal."
"As far as I'm concerned, hating the Hutt clan is everyone's business, and those who don't are either terminally stupid or, well, part of the Hutt clan.â
"That kriffin' piece of blubber is probably still out in the Dune Sea somewhere. I doubt even the bloatflies'll touch his stinking corpse."
"He was killed in his palace? I heard that place is a fortress."
"My boy went out with some of the others, just to have a little lookie-loo at the place, but the slaves didn't wanna let nobody in. Said theyâve taken over. Been coming in from all over the galaxy, the buggers."
"They still out there?"
The old woman seemed to remember herself. "You ask an awful lot of question, dearie. Maybe it's time you hold up your end of the bargain, hmm?"
Sinead opened her mouth to protest. If Tatooine had managed to rid themselves completely of Hutt control, then maybe other systems would follow suit. The dangerous look in the old woman's eyes told her, however, that pressing on would be a bad idea.
"Sure," she said, looking earnestly at the merchandise. "Uh, yeah ⊠how much for the necklace?" It was the only thing that, if you squinted and stood five meters away on a foggy day might resemble jewelry. It looked like an old optic unit ripped from a droid and attached to a leather string.
"Hundred creds."
"You're joking."
"My information doesn't come cheap, girl. I can always call the guards, say you robbed me of my hard-earned knowledge."
For once, Sinead was momentarily lost for words. "That doesn't-"
"Since the Empire left, we've had to handle justice ourselves, you see, and sometimes the new guards can be a little rough."
Sinead bared her teeth in a smile. "I'll give you twenty."
"Eighty."
"Thirty."
"Seventy-five."
"Thirty-five."
"Seventy-five."
Sinead tossed some credits on the table. "Forty. That's literally the last credits I own."
The old woman snatched the credits with remarkable speed, squirreling them away in her dirty cowl.
"Pleasure doing business with you," Sinead said, stuffing the necklace into her pocket before moving on from the stall.
When she got back to the hangar, the suns had reached the top of the sky and it had impossibly gotten even hotter.
Mando came walking from the other side, his gleaming armor standing out between the bedraggled denizens of Tatooine. He sped up when he saw Sinead.
"You should stay in the ship," he said, when they reached the door to the hangar at the same time.
"You know, people usually greet each other before starting to bark commands, you should really try it."
The Mandalorian shook his head, grumbling under his breath.
âDid you manage to find work, or do we have to go back empty handed? I have a feeling that wonât go over too well with the mechanic.â
âI did, but look ⊠does the name Fennec Shand mean anything to you?â
The color drained from Sinead's face.
"She's hiding out in the Dune Sea with a bounty on her head. I have to bring her back."
"Alive?"
"Yes."
"What a shame."
Fennec Shandâs name brought with it a very special kind of dread. Every Hutt slave had heard stories of Shard bringing back runaway slaves in a condition where they wished they were dead.
âIâll stay in the ship.â Sinead looked around, like she expected Shand to jump out from behind the nearest hover-cart. âHow long will it take?â
âI donât know. Iâm bringing this kid ⊠it doesnât matter.â
Sinead bit her lips. âJust make sure you get her. I donât want her coming to Mos Eisley in a murderous rage.â
The Mandalorian moved towards the entrance to the hangar, and when the door opened, the smell of oil and metal hit them.
She wanted to get off this planet, doubly so now she knew that a vicious killer for hire had made this her home. There was nothing to do but wait.

Cernunnos
Cernnunos - Ancient Celtic God
by J. M Reinbold
Cernnunos Sleeps (2) The Old God sleeps down in the dark, moist, odorous underfoot, Waiting for us To put down our roots.
The God In The Wild Wood (3) At the Sacred Centre, in the Grove of all Worlds, He sits with legs crossed beneath an ancient Oak. Entranced, connecting the three worlds Earth, Sea, and Sky, and the worlds behind the worlds, the god and the Great Tree are One, His immense limbs widespread, stretching into distant sky and starry space.
His massive trunk, spine of the Middleworld, is the heart of the Ancient Forest around which all Life, all worlds turn; His limitless root web growing deep into secret earth and Underworld; above him the great turning circles of Sun, Moon, and Stars. All around Him subtle movements of the leaves in melodious, singing air; everywhere the pulsing, gleaming Green awash in drifts of gold and shimmering mist; beneath Him soft moss creeping over the dark, deep, moist of spawning earth. At His feet is the great Cauldron from which the Five Rivers Flow.
Through the forest stillness they come, whispering wings and secret glide, rustling leaves, and silent step, the first Ancestors, the Oldest Animals, to gather around Him: Blackbird, Keeper of the Gate; Stag of Seven Tines, Master of Time; Ancient Owl, Crone of the Night; Eagle, Lord of the Air, Eye of the Sun; and Salmon, Oldest of the Old, Wisest of the Wise leaping from the juncture of the Five Springs. He welcomes them and blesses them, and they honour Him, Cernnunos of the nut brown skin and lustrous curling hair; the god whose eyes flash star-fire, whose flesh is a reservoir of ancient waters, His cells alive with Mystery, original primeval essence. Naked, phallus erect, He wears a crown of antlers limned in green fire and twined with ivy. In his right hand the Torq of gold, testament of his nobility and his sacred pledge; in his left hand the horned serpent symbol of his sexual power sacred to the Goddess. Cernnunos in His Ancient Forest, His Sacred Temple, His Holy Grove, Cernnunos and His children dream the Worlds.
The Origins of Cernnunos Cernnunos, a nature and fertility god, has appeared in a multitude of forms and made himself known by many names to nearly every culture throughout time. He is perhaps best known to us now in his Celtic aspects of the untamed Horned God of the Animals and the leaf-covered Green Man, Guardian of the Green World, but He is much older. Cernnunos worked his magic when the first humans were becoming. Our prehistoric ancestors knew him as a shape-shifting, shamanic god of the Hunt. He is painted in caves and carved everywhere, on cliffs, stones, even in the Earth Herself. Humans sought to commune with Him and receive his power and that of his animal children by dressing themselves in skins and skulls, adorning themselves with feathers and bones, by dancing His dance. Yet He is older still. In the time of the dinosaurs, the great swamps and subtropical forests of cycads, seed ferns and conifers, and later in the time of the deciduous plants and flowers, when the pollinators came and the first tiny mammals were creeping up from beneath the ground, Cernnunos was the difference and diversity of life, the frenzy and ferment of evolution. But, He is much older still. He is oldest of the Ancient Ones, first born of the Goddess. At the time of First Earth, Cernnunos grew in the womb of the All Mother, Anu, waiting to be born, to come forth to initiate the everlasting, unbroken Circle of Life.
The Many Faces & Natures Of Cernnunos Cernnunos, as The Horned God, Lord of the Animals is portrayed as human or half human with an antler crown. Though he wears a human face his energy and his concerns are non-human. He is protector of animals and it is Cernnunos who is the law-sayer of hunting and harvest. While He is recognized most often through his connection to animals and our own deeply buried, dimly recalled, instinctual animal natures, Cernnunos is also a tree, forest, and vegetation god in his foliate aspect of The Green Man, Guardian of the Green World. His branching antlers symbolize the spreading treetops of the forest as well as his animal nature. As Master of the Sacrificial Hunt, His is the life that is given in service of new life. His wisdom is that the old must pass away to make way for the new.
In his Underworld aspect Cernnunos is The Dark Man, the god who dwells in the House Beneath the Hill, the Underworld. He is the one who comforts and sings the souls of the dead to their rest in the Summerlands of the Otherworld. Cernnunos, as Master of the Wild Hunt, who pursues the souls of evil doers, is not associated with a biblical or even modern morality, but with the protection and continuance of the Land and Nature and the spirits that dwell therein.
Pan, lusty Satyr god of the Greeks is another aspect of the Horned God. âPan is a proud celebration of the liberating power of male erotic energy in its purest and most beautiful form.â (5) He is portrayed as playful and cunning, but He also has a darker, dangerous nature. The panic or terror often associated with Pan is not related to human violence, but to the Life and Death of the natural world. In this form he is called the "All Devourer." However, Pan, as Protector of the Wilderness and as a god prone to fits of madness and violence, can induce panic or wild fear in those who threaten his domain.
Cernnunos appears again in Elizabethan England, and is mentioned by Shakespeare, as Herne the Hunter, the demon and guardian of Windsor Forest, the Royal Wood. In this aspect it is said that he appears as Guardian of the Realm during times of National emergency and crisis. In modern times he is often called the God of the Witches and embodies uncorrupted masculine energy. A masculine energy that is fully-developed and in balance with the natural world
Cernnunos & The Sacred Wheel Of The Year We celebrate and honour Cernnunos as the Green Man in spring and summer, the light half of the year and as the Dark One or the Dark God in autumn and winter, the dark half of the year. He appears in spring as the young Son, child of the Goddess, embodiment of the budding, growing, greening world. In summer He is the Green Man, vibrant, pulsing with life essence, the consort of the Green Lady Goddess. It is in autumn, the dying time, that perhaps we see the Horned God most clearly. He is the sacrificed one, who, wounded unto death begins his journey to the Underworld, returning to the Earth from which he was born and where the seeds of light released from his decaying body will quicken Her womb with a new Sun once again.
The Path To Cernnunos The path to Cernnunos is both through the natural world: seeking out the wild places and a deep understanding of the processes of growth, bounty, decay, rest, and rebirth, and through Otherworld journeys to the Middleworld forest of which he is guardian. One may experience this both actually and symbolically by following the path that disappears over the horizon into the distance and moves away from the âcivilizedâ world and into the heart of the Wild Wood. Often experienced as traveling away from the centre to the perimeter, this is in actuality a return to the Centre. When the seeker reaches the god's forest the track ends, and her/his pathways are found by other means. After entering the Wildwood the seeker cannot be followed, nor can s/he follow another. Whatever pathways are discovered disappear in passing, and the Wood is trackless once again, for each one's way is different. In the Forest of Cernnunos there is a stillness, an otherworldly feeling, as if one has passed out of time. Here the mind is not supreme. It is instinct, the innate wisdom of the body that guides us to Him.
The Way Of Cernnunos The way of Cernnunos is the way of the shaman or any person who truly seeks Communion with the Land. Yet, one cannot speak of Cernnunos without speaking of Anu or Don, the All Mother who gave Him birth. The way of Cernnunos is through the One. Like Her, Cernnunos is a Being or Power that existed before time and before the gods, the Shining Ones. Together they are First Mother and First Father, All Mother and All Father who brought the gods into being. Limitless and everlasting His energy permeates Her matter through every aspect of life to the sub-atomic. As Lord of the Dance He is present in the billions and billions of infinitely small movements that make up the seemingly chaotic Dance of Life, the Dance of Making and Unmaking. He is truly the Life that never, never dies, for even as nothingness he is self-originating. He is triple as She is triple. He is Cernnunos: Father, Son, and Wild Spirit.
Cernnunos Chant Cern-nu-noh-oh-oh-oh-os Stag Horned Hunter, Hunted One Join Us Now Cer-nu-noh-oh-oh-oh-os Greenwood Lord of Life and Death Join Us Now Cern-nu-noh-oh-oh-oh-os Herne and Pan and Every Man Join Us Now (6)

Vermilion Marauders
*A flyer hangs on various job-boards, and inside taverns throughout the city.*
ATTENTION!
All mercenaries, adventurers, researchers, and thieves! A life of danger and great reward calls to you!
Have you the stones to take a prize with us?Â
In search of gold, ancient artifacts, and the like?
Vermilion Marauders is looking for individuals who would like an opportunity to travel to the darkest corners of Azeroth, and beyond! Vinarei Brooks is recruiting people to join various expeditions to search and collect valuable resources, and to uncover incredible marvels of the world! Leave your name, and experience, along with the best way to contact you at the Golden Keg, and weâll be in touch as soon as possible!Â
OOC Information:
Q. Who is Vermilion Marauders?
A. Vermilion Marauders is a newly formed âadventureâ guild located on Alliance side, offering compelling DM-style events (D20) tailored to get people out into the world of Azeroth. IC rewards and treasures are up for grabs for the majority of events. (Criminals, thieves, and otherwise âdarkâ rp is accepted)
Q. What are the ranks of the guild?
A. After the two week trial (to determine if you are a good fit for us, and vice versa) there are two ranks one can fall into:
Reaver: The muscle, the fighters, those who great a plan of attack, and are sent to retrieve items.
Inquisitor: The brains, those who excel at researching various items that are brought to light, and will prepare the group for what to expect on an expedition.
Please note: you are not limited to one role or the other, but can participate in both with a âspecialtyâ in one or another.
Q. Can any race/class/level join?
A. Absolutely. Though some might be under scrutiny or mistrusted at first, all are welcome to give a shot and see where/if they fit in. While there is no level restriction on joining, events will take place all over, where some level restriction might be required (I.E.: Broken Isles, Deepholm, and Uldum, etc).
Q. How difficult is the DM system?
A. Not difficult at all. We keep it basic, for the most part, as to not confuse players who are either new to the game, or new to the style of event. Itâs a very simple D20 roll system, and we will not be adding modifiers until later down the road. In other words, someone who has never participated in such an event will easily be able to keep up with and understand the process.
In our events, we want your characterâs abilities to be played to their full potential. We all know the stigma attached to OP characters. If one was in a fight with another character and would (for example) have the knowledge and ability to send a wave of lava at their foe, but instead send a tiny spark of fire due to not wanting to seem OP, we allow for the full ability to be displayed in our DM events and adjust accordingly.
Q. With Argus being such a threat, why a guild focused on artifact hunting?
A. Not everyone wants to RP the fight on Argus. Some characters would never IC join the fight for their own personal reasons, or inabilities. Not everyone is meant to be a hero. Also, this will be a steady stream of RP that will continue on through the various patches, expansions, etc.
Q. Can you give an example of what events will take place?
A. Most events are centered around various artifacts/relics/weapons that are mentioned over time, and we aim to either tailor them to something someone in the guild can ICly use, and if not, sell on the black market. Please note that while most might sound OP, there are -always- drawbacks for each item, and we have rules for interaction with non-guildies when it comes to these items.
-- A relic located deep in the heart of Firelands (this might be something to help a fire mage better understand the magic/element, and weâd give the âphoenix hatchlingâ vanity pet as a reward theyâd eventually be able to conjure.) -- A torq (current story arc) in the shape of a snake made of an unknown metal with two gems for eyes, rumored to be able to stop time for a matter of seconds to allow one to flee, can also physically transform into a venomous snake. -- Planting explosives at a competitorâs research site -- Heading to the Storm Peaks in search of ancient texts and tomes -- Escorting dangerous artifacts through enemy territories -- Breaking into a well-known library to âretrieveâ transcribed texts -- Letting off some steam down in the brawlpub -- A âfriendlyâ game of kickball -- And much more!

Activities to thrill you in Malaysia
Some people are thrill seekers, and are always looking for that adrenaline rush, no matter where it leads them!
Speed, excitement, bumps and bruises, even a scar or two is worth it, body aches and all the rest!
If that's what you're looking for, and thrilling spills are your game, this list is for you!
ATV Ride, KL
ATVs, or all-terrain vehicles, allow you to ride rough terrain and lush vegetation, while continuing this adventure in the heart of the Malaysian forests and beyond. As with any outdoor activity, be sure to bring water and change of clothes. The rain is almost always expected, even if it is not planned!
Bungee Jumping
Bungee jumping is certainly NOT for sensitive souls. However, if you are looking for thrills, this is the ultimate activity for you! For the adrenaline junkies just waiting to jump in the air, one of the places you can do is the Sunway Lagoon Extreme Park.
Flyboarding in Putrajaya
The Flyboard, another exciting extreme water sport, will literally take you to greater heights!
This unique sporting experience is achieved by attaching a watercraft, which propels the Flyboard into the air, using air and water. For the moment, this sport is only available at Marina Putrajaya.
Paragliding
Tandem paragliding is available not too far from Kuala Lumpur, and is available year-round, depending on weather conditions. Currently, two main sites for this activity are in Selangor and Sabah.
Hiking and Trekking
While some might discuss the "extreme nature" of these activities, try a 3-day trekking trip in 2 nights to the Mulu Pinnacles!
For some laid-back, family-friendly activities, this basic nature-based activity is suitable for almost all age groups, with different levels of strength and endurance. Most of the hiking trails here will lead you to a waterfall or river, and you will certainly be rewarded with a fresh dip after all your efforts.
White Water Rafting
From beginner to hardcore, white water rafting is available in many parts of Malaysia; at Sg Gopeng, Slim River at Perak and Sungai Singor, which is on the border of Perak and Kelantan.
Diving
Perhaps the most "soft" extreme sports, diving will transport you to a whole new colorful and exciting world!
This activity is offered almost everywhere in Malaysia, from Kedah to Johor; from Perak to Sabah. The islands of Langkawi, Pangkor, Sibu, Perhentian, Tioman, to Sipadan, famous all over the world, are waiting to hypnotize you with all that they have to offer.
Wreck Diving
The difference between wreck diving and open water diving is that wreck diving is the exploration of the wreckage of ships, aircraft and other artificial structures. However, most wreck diving sites are on wrecks. One of them must be at least 18 years of age, hold an Advanced Open Water certification and prove that they have at least 50 registered dives. Additional certification requirements may include wreck bases, caverns or the like.
Ziplining
The zip line, or more commonly known as the flying fox, is an activity consisting of a pulley suspended from a cable, usually made of stainless steel, mounted on a slope. It allows travel by natural gravity, from the highest point to the bottom of the inclined cable, while being attached to a free-motion pulley.
Many places offer such activities, including extreme parks and nature-oriented business parks, including Sabah and Langkawi.
Parasailing
Parasailing is a recreational kite activity in which a person is towed behind a vehicle while attached to a specially designed wing that looks like a parachute, also called a sail. The mobile anchor of the kite can be a car, a truck or a boat.
Via Ferrata, Mount Kinabalu
A via ferrata (or "iron route" in Italian, via ferrate plural) is a protected mountain trail consisting of a series of bars, rails, cables and bridges surrounding the rock wall. It provides access to panoramic parts of the mountain that are generally only accessible to climbers and mountaineers.
There are some minimum requirements for those wishing to participate in this activity, but rest assured that you are using modest equipment, a good head for heights and a basic technique, walking on the Via Ferrata is very safe, led by an experienced guide .
Mountain Torq is the highest via ferrata in the world and Asia's first via ferrata is located on the rock face of Mount Kinabalu, Panalaban. Beginning at 3,200 meters and ending at 3,776 meters above sea level at Mount Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysian Borneo.
The minimum requirements for the first time via ferrate climber are:
Average fitness level (able to walk up to 3,200 meters in 6 hours)
10 years and older for Walk the Torq
17 years old and up for Low's Peak Circuit
A minimum height of 1.3 meters
Free to restrict physical disabilities, be fit, healthy and without fear of emptiness to fully participate in the activity safely
No previous mountaineering experience required
A maximum of 6 mountaineers per group is allowed to perform Via Ferrata at a time.
Microlight
Microlight is a one or two seater aircraft that is mainly simulated by the movement of hang-gliding. It is relatively new in Malaysia. We will have the unique chance to enjoy an aerial view of the destination,
BASE Jumping
BASE Jumping is the sport of jumping structures, hills or unmoved mountains. YOU MUST be a qualified parachutist before attempting BASE jumping. Every year, the KL Tower organizes the KL Tower International BASE Jump (www.menarakl.com.my), which brings together the BASE Jumpers for a series of international jumps organized in Malaysia.
Skydiving
Parachuting, undeniably, will give you an adrenaline rush like the others! Getting out of a moving plane and feeling the wind blowing over your face is not a thrill easy to forget, and certainly NOT everyone!
If you do not like getting out of planes, maybe you can start with the sport by trying it inside? Yes, inside! Head to the 1-Utama Mall in Petaling Jaya, where Airrider is located.
Shark Diving
Fancy a swim among the hammerheads?
Diving offers a unique experience of discovering underwater life. The colors and variety of marine life are incomparable on earth. If you love lush tropical forests, then you will be fascinated by the unrestrained micro-life and the gentle giants of the ocean.
Shark diving gives you unique sensations, and if you're feeling a bit worried, beginners can try out the indoor and controlled environment offered by Aquaria KLCC.
Caving
There are hundreds of caves in Malaysia and cave enthusiasts will be spoiled for choice, from the huge caves far away from Mulu National Park to the busy tourist sites within the city limits, such as the Batu Caves.
Some caves, like the Gua Tempurung cave in Perak, are quite accessible because the entrance is close to the main roads, similar to the Batu caves, while others are only accessible by trekking or even by boat.
Wakeboarding
Wakeboarding, very simply, is skateboarding on the water. You simply surf on the surface of the water behind a motorboat at high speed.
The sport is rather new in Malaysia, but it attracts more and more fans among thrill seekers and adrenaline junkies!
Currently, there are two places where you can indulge in this sport of wet and wild water sports: mines (Philea Mines Beach Resort) and Marina Putrajaya.
Kayaking within the Langkawi Geopark
Kayaking is pretty easy, and most people would have tried it at least once in their life. Kayaking in the Langkawi Geopark is an experience that is not available elsewhere!
Maneuvering in Langkawi mangroves offers a taste of adventure and exercise while enjoying nature. The trip will also offer the chance to become acquainted with the ecology of mangroves, especially with wildlife, such as monkeys, vipers, eagles, otters, some endemic birds and the common mustache lizard.
Waterfall Abseiling
Get off the edge of the rocks in a fast waterfall. It sounds exciting and the most difficult!
Abseiling is the sport of repelling a series of lines along waterfalls that can reach the height you dare to try, depending on your level of expertise. Like any other extreme sport, safety first!
Rock Climbing
Climbing requires a certain set of skills and strength, and certainly not for the faint hearted!
The most popular site will be the Batu Caves in Selangor and offers around 170 routes. With so many routes, the site offers a challenge for all levels of climbing.
Malaysia being a tropical country, the weather can be quite unpredictable, but do not worry! We have the largest Indoor Climbing Center in Asia, Camp 5, located on the 5th floor of the 1 Utama Shopping Center. It is the largest climbing gym, 24 m high and fully air conditioned. The gym also offers a 270-degree panoramic view of the city, a café and a climbing workshop. 400 rocks, main roads and upper ropes, suitable for all, from beginner to advanced, are available here. The itineraries are modified and changed every 3 to 6 months to keep things fresh and stimulating.

Greater Heights: Climbing Mount Kinabalu, The Roof of Malay Archipelago
Standing at Lowâs Peak, Mount Kinabalu (Gunung Kinabalu), the most dramatic feature in Sabah and the tallest peak between the Himalayas & New Guinea.
Traveling to Borneo for a month obviously gave me the idea of climbing Mt. Kinabalu but due to logistical hindrances, I wasnât sure that it would be possible. But as I saw the mountain from the plane, I was like, âI want to be there, I need to be there.âÂ
Judging from the photos I saw online, it seems like Mt. Kinabalu would be a different experience for me compared to other mountains Iâve climbed before. Also, I havenât had any experience being in an altitude more than 3,000 meters.Â
When I did my research, I found out that Sabah Parks only issue 185 climb permits per day so one has to book early to avoid disappointment. Iâm glad that even with my late inquiry, at June 1, I was able to get a slot from River Junkie, a local travel agency who efficiently made all the arrangements for the entire Gunung Kinabalu trip.Â
DAY 1
River Junkieâs van picked me up at Jesselton Residences at 6:45AM, we started the two-hour ride going to Kinabalu National Park. Â
After checking our passports, completing registration, and picking up our packed lunch, we had a short ride to Timpohon Gate which is the starting and ending points for all climbers at 1,866masl. We started the 6-kilometer initial trek at 9:30 AM.
The trail is well defined and maintained and the assault consists of endless rough, uneven, staircase climbing.Â
At Layang Layang Shelter (at 2,702masl), many hikers will notice the effects of the decreased air pressure. Rapid heart rate and shortness of breath are signs of trekking in thin air.Â
Some of the hikers who accompanied me decided to go down due to altitude sickness before reaching the base camp.
After six-kilometer assault through lowland rain forest to montane forest, and then cloud forest, I reached the Panalaban Base Kamp at 2:40PM in a sub-alpine meadow terrain.Â
There are several dormitory buildings in the area with hot showers, toilets, cooked food and basic sharing rooms with bunk beds.Â
youtube
IÂ stayed at Pendant Hut where Via Ferrata climbers have their seminar; while the others from our tour group stayed in Laban Rata.Â
Knowing that we were expected to get up by 2AM, I tried my best to sleep right after the dinner but because of altitude insomnia, I was still up at 12:30AM and gave up on any idea of getting a good nightâs sleep.
DAY 2
For the second part of this climb, we started our hike to summit at 2:45AM. It was raining as we started up endless flights of steps with some ladders and ropes. The organizers told us that weâd hike for an hour and attain a higher elevation to see if the rain might clear. They told us that if the rain continued, they would require us to turn back because attempting the summit in a storm was not safe. Needless to say, we were quite anxious about the possibility of continuing rain, as there was no possibility of refund of the tour fees even if we had to turn back because of weather.
youtube
Above Laban Rata the vegetation disappears. The next stage of the climb is an open trail over a massive bare granite slab. Fortunately the rain stopped and was replaced by dense fog. As we ascended the granite, it became very cold with a strong wind on our way up to the summit. The fog obstructed visibility even with my head torch on.
The final ascent was 100 meters of scrambling over loose rocks and large boulders before reaching Low's Peak.Â
At 4:45am, after the 8.5 kilometre (5.25 miles) trek to the top, I was finally at the majestic 4,095m (13,435 feet above sea level) summit of Mount Kinabalu, the highest mountain between the Himalayas and New Guinea. Unfortunately, it was still night!
youtube
I reached the summit an hour earlier than the recommended time because of my fast pace.Â
As a result, I waited shivering in the cold for the sunrise. I only had a few moments to savor the sunrise on the summit since I had to arrive at the Lowâs Peak Circuitâs meeting point before 6:30AM.
youtube
The stunning scenery along the summit trail from Lowâs Peak.
Through the Mountain Torq organization, I got to experience the worldâs highest via ferrata at 3,776 meters above sea level.Â
youtube
âVia ferrataâ is a term little known outside of the European Alps. It means âiron pathâ in Italian and describes an engineered route of steel cables and iron rungs and sometimes ladders and bridges that provide access to dangerous routes with increased safety. I started the LPC at 6:45AM and finished the 1.1kilometer via ferrata LPC route in two hours, at 8:50AM.
The end-point of Lowâs Peak Circuit is Walk the Torq, so technically, I experienced both trail of via ferrata! To me, it was a vertical playground. The experience of crossing the mountain via ferrata will definitely provide memories for years to come.Â
I donât have a great fear of heights so I found the LPC to be exciting. Others might experience it as nerve-wrecking or frightening as the steel cable crosses sheer cliffs with thousand meter plunges to the valley below.
After traverse-descent from the summit via ferrata, II still had 700 meters to go before reaching the Pendant Hunt to get my well-deserved breakfast.Â
I checked-out at Pendant Hut at 11:00 AM and reached Timpohon Gate at 1:30. That concludes my Mt. Kinabalu journey! I will post a separate blog about Via Ferrata Lowâs Peak Circuit soon.
The entire trip, from 6-km steep assault from Timpohon Gate to sumptuous dinner and cozy accommodation at Panalaban Base Camp, reaching Lowâs Peak and the descent from the summit is simply breathtaking. The barren rock formations on a clear day above the clouds is magical. Defying gravity Via Ferrata Lowâs Peak Circuit is indeed the highlight! and Iâm glad I did it. Maraming salamat, Gunung Kinabalu!Â
