My most recent WIP is Ends of the Earth, a steampunk gothic horror polar exploration murder mystery survival story, and the protagonist is Edie Kittridge, a meteorologist who's got something going on with their gender

18. Has your OC ever had a prophecy made about them? Was it a big deal or did they ignore it? Was it straightforward or cryptic? Did it ever come to pass or did they circumvent it?

Edie Kittridge doesn't have any prophecies per se, but he does have cryptic dreams telling him to do something, though it's hard to tell exactly what.

19. Has your OC ever had an experience with the paranormal or the divine? What happened? Was it a one time encounter or is it a normal part of their life? Did they find it terrifying or thrilling?

Oh hell yes she has. Her aforementioned cryptic dreams are being delivered by the ghost of a century-dead dead polar explorer, Isaac Lawson, and he eventually starts appearing when she's awake. He was kind of her blorbo from the history books even before the haunting--in fact, she joined her current expedition in the hopes of finding out what happened to him. After the initial shock, they end up as genuine friends.

Ends of the Earth 🌎 — What is a land you have always dreamed of seeing?

I have always dreamed of going to Scotland and seeing where my family lived just a few generations ago! Eilean Donan Castle in particular :)

She Lit a Fire 🔥 — Describe a stranger that you only met once but have never forgotten.

Once, while traveling to another state, I saw a man in the airport who was in the same waiting area that I was. He was probably 15+ years older than me and was asleep on the floor next to his suitcase. I remember having a moment where I thought, “What if he’s my soulmate? What if my soulmate is somewhere in this airport and I pass them and never find them again?” He never woke up and saw me, but I’ve never forgotten him and that strange feeling I had of “what could have been?”.

Meet Me in the Woods 🌲 — What experience completely transformed you as a person?

A huge transformative experience for me was the first time I fell in love: when I was 13 and fell hopelessly in love with my older ballet partner. It was completely one-sided and unrequited, but my feelings were very real and made me grow up in a way that I didn’t expect. That time of life has had a huge impact on who I am now!

We were talking about how excited we are for the barbie movie the other day and one of the kids I teach (she’s 14 I think) said ‘yeah but isn’t it weird that they got an actress who’s kinda old to play barbie’ and when I say myself and my best friend looked at one another and felt our souls drain from our bodies.
