The moment that made Bruce the man he is today was the moment his parents were murdered in the alley. He thinks that that moment for Tim had or will have to do with the deaths of his parents as well, like it was for him, for Dick, for Jason, all children whose lives were changed forever by tragedy. He doesn't realize that that moment for Tim was a decade ago at Haly's Circus.
Bruce thinks that he and his mission are the poison, that prolonged exposure will eventually drag Tim down into the darkness he resides in (or worse, like it did to Jason). He thinks of the child he once was, remembers that he became the Bat so that no other child might be suffer that same loss, that same transformation that he has. He doesn't realize that Tim's path was set from the very first day he can remember.
Tim doesn't know how to be any different. How to be anything other than a boy who deduced Batman's secret identity by accident. A boy whose heroes inspired him to become a detective, to pick up computer skills, to learn to fight. A boy who cared enough about two strangers at the circus to risk his life for them a decade later.
Becoming Robin was just the culmination. Becoming Robin is when everything that made Tim Tim started to make sense. The night in the alley was the night Bruce’s life changed, but that night at the circus was the night Tim’s life began.

Just because of a bit of cheers when doing sori, you think you have some grand talent? That path ruins a person.

okay the newest chapter of bsd just goes to show that everything will end up being fixed thanks to The Book. why else would they introduce Teruko’s backstory only to kill her off two pages later? why else would the first ADA causality the most important one (the next head of the agency)? why else would the stakes be so extreme and wild?
because the magical Book will restart everything. -inhales copium-

i do genuinely think s7 is decent but even if it wasn’t it’d be like crack to me considering it’s an entire season essentially centred around sam’s trauma. it’s the closest we ever get to the show properly genuinely acknowledging the things it puts him through. which is ironic considering it’s also before many many other things he goes through!

One of my new surfacing gripes with FF7R is how a lot of moments from the original game that rested heavily on player investment seem completely stripped out of the remake in favor of everything being a constant 60 hour long movie experience.
Like every now and then I hear the original game get shit for not taking its political messaging seriously at certain key set-pieces that are too game-y and chill like Costa Del Sol and the Gold Saucer, but that's not the whole picture when you consider how much control the player has over the party in that game. Costa Del Sol was just where you landed on the next continent and there was like a guy or two to talk to to point you in the other direction, a few lighthearted interactions to break up the fucked up shit that happened on the boat ride over, and then you could leave. The idea that the original Costa Del Sol indulged in the tourist trap goes only as far as how you as a player approached the space, if you got to Costa Del Sol and felt "Oh, this is a shitty Shinra colonial project I hate it here" you could book it outta there and maintain some of that disgust, but you fucking can't in the remake and its horrible.
For some fucking reason the boat ride over is on a cruise ship instead of a military vessel like before, so instead of a funny moment of humanizing the soldiers by being miserable with them, you get this fucking card tournament quest where everyone is suddenly SUPER into all this shit and doesn't care about any of the obvious underlying bullshit of the boat? And then its even worse when you get to Costa Del Sol because likefhsjkdhf? Everyone is OK with this glaring parallel to real world colonization and exploitation of island nations? Even Barret who literally had an amusement park built on the ashes of his home village by the people who burnt it down? EVEN YUFFIE WHO'S WHOLE SHTICK IS HOW HER HOME WAS INVADED AND TURNED INTO A TOURIST TRAP????
I cannot speak 100% for the original, because I remember it also missing these opportunities and besides that my memory is hazy, but its the fact that it wasn't flooded with all these ridiculous cutscenes and extra set-pieces that force you into experiencing areas a certain way, and a way that is just really fucking OOC?? And like for as OOC as the original could be, THE REMAKE IS 25 YEARS YOUNGER AND WISER THAN IT, PICK UP THE SLACK? But instead we get a fucking beach episode where you can put the girlies in bikinis or some shit. It's such a waste.
I can't think of like a single moment of subtly that the Remake retained from the originals. And it DOES have them under all the silly tonal whiplash stuff that the Remake cranks up to an unhealthy extent.

I like to think of halbarry as two gay men who haven't come to terms with their sexuality and complete denial bc of their trauma and bullying
like what you said in flashpoint paradox where in that timeline he got the support system and no trauma I think
I think it makes sense to me them being gay than bi/pan. etc
oh this could not have come at a worse time, i’m drawing the most bisexual halbarryisms in the world rn 💔
#danswers#dc#halbarry#hal jordan#barry allen#green lantern#the flash#danbles#i never updated on this but i finally decided my ‘true canon’ is that they’re both bi!#and yes including hal’s pansexual ass. it doesn’t rly make a difference either way but EYE personally interpret him as bi too#and ik i said all that stuff abt fpp but i think the problem is that the hc dismisses barry’s current life#as if having trauma could negate newer experiences#i think it makes more narrative sense to combine the memories of both timelines to make him feel more complete rather than choose either or#rings some bisexual bells doesn’t it?#not to mention barry’s compartmentalization is not strictly gay in fact it works thematically with the bi angle#as for hal. well i want her to be bi^2 to put it simply. the bisexual bigender agenda. bigenda#i also think that the way hal views gender is deeply fascinating and makes it harder for me to view him as pan bc of it?#not that i think being bi or pan has any singular experience but ig it makes more sense to me as someone that has identified as both#idek if hal would use labels i just describe her with specific ones as a way to communicate my own interpretations. he’s just living life#so yeah they’re repressed for sure. but i also don’t think that makes them gay#the post you referenced was an oldie tho i’m glad it still resonated with someone!#none of this is canon anyway so hc whatever you’d like <3#i’ll only fight someone if they say barry specifically is the token straight. targeting him just bc he’s boring smh…

ok nvm i got mad at transformers writing again. back out of sheer spite
#brain splatter on my wall#yk ur writing sucks ass when a guy with memory loss doesn't remember shit other than “damn that was a pain to read”#this is directed at jro and mtmte. fuck outta here with whatever the hell minimus was#the forced... everything. like you can tell he was going somewhere but then took a wrong turn#what the fuck was he on. the potential pisses me off#because you couldve had so many great individual stories and a unique narrative but youre just forcing it in my face and its so random?#why was getaway a villain. why. i agreed with him and then you make him do the most diabolical shit just to make me NOT like him#sorry for not liking the hot dilf megatron. i guess we love abusers here.💀#ITS SO ANNOYING I SWEAR IT READS MORE LIKE A FANFIC THAN AN OFFICIAL COMIC#I AM LEFT WITH MORE QUESTIONS THAN ANSWERS AND IT JUST THROWS ANOTHER BOMB IN MY FACE STOP!!!#its genuinely such a pain bc this is the ONLY storyline from idw people talk about so im forced to endure it#while i enjoyed some characters (swerve skids and even ultra magnus!!) you just completely HAD to ruin them#because drama. because trauma. because story. but it was all for nothing because it either gets undone (skids) or development thrown away?#(magnus and swerve)#im sorry it was such an absolute mindfuck to read it was so bizarre and NOT in the cool jojos way.#i also really fucking hate rodimus and like every single romance that was produced#cyclonus deserves better. chromedome deserves better. who the fuck gives a shit about dratchet other than the cutesy fanon.#GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!! 👹👹👹👹👹👹👹👹

Ittt rlly fucks me up that um. Seven. There were ssseven members of the Losers club. There are seven members of the Hellfire club. Then we have the OG 4 (Will, Mike, Lucas, and Dustin) plus El, Max, and Erica but without Mike (the heart) they fell apart because 7 biblically represents "wholeness". Wwhat happened in the spring of 1959 and what happened to their "heart"?

Justice League America #26
honestly, i love the way ty templeton illustrates helena in this issue. there is something very girl-cartoon circa late 80's-early 2000's about the style that, when put into the context of how much childhood & the aftermath thereof (especially when one has been put through something traumatic) play into helena's narrative, really, really pleases me as an artistic choice.
like, i don't know if it was intentional on templeton's part, but it's such a thematically resonant fucking visual-storytelling choice that it kind of makes my throat well up & my chest tighten, you know?
i keep thinking about just how fucking cool it would be to see an animated adaption centering helena in a similar style. like, i don't know if i'd actually want to see it with how things are done nowadays, but it would have been totally fucking killer if something like that had come out in the 90's or early 2000's.
anyway, she <3.

_ Memories - |QSMP| - [ Hunger Games ]. Q!CELLBIT.
His first memory, as long as he can remember, was years ago, 13 (thirteen) years ago to be exact.
As you get older, you may lose your memory, it is normal and natural.
However, he remembered everything vividly. everything... everything?
( It was impossible to forget, even if I wanted ).
At first he found it strange, the fact that he couldn't remember at all how he ended up in that place confused and terrified him.
It was like a void, a torturously silent void that his memory would not allow itself to access...
After years, he learned to just ignore it, ignore this discomfort he felt about his memories, or lack thereof.
It didn't feel like it was something as simple as 'something he forgot'.. It was more like it had been abruptly erased, and left just a blank sheet .. That even throughout your life. Even though your blank memories were quickly filled with unhappy memories. .. He kept feeling this blank in his memories, this emptiness and this feeling that something was stolen from him, something beyond his perception.
He remembers it like it was yesterday..
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He woke up in war, he had nothing, he was confused, lost.. He didn't know what the hell was going on, he didn't know anything about himself.
Agonizing. That word perfectly described the sensation he constantly felt.
Maybe as much as seeing the blood dripping from the dead person in front of you. Maybe as much as when he feels the cold metal of the knife in his hand, now covered in fresh blood. ... Maybe as much as the confusion in your mind. Maybe as much as the buzzing in the back of his mind that was all he had left, in conjunction with a terrifyingly pleasant silence..
All he had was himself, only him, and always only himself..
And a small badge, tied around his neck like a necklace, made of a material that is not very resistant.
This badge had something written on it; "CELLBIT".
He assumed it was a form of identification.... Your name?
@mai-komagata So TRUE. And also what Daniel says to Armand. "Where does the bullshit start, Armand, Amadeo, Arun?" It could literally be anywhere and at anytime of the story. 💀
Exploring Character Backstory
1. Start with the essentials: Begin by outlining the basic information about your character's past, such as their family background, upbringing, education, and early experiences. Consider their cultural, social, and economic background, as these factors can shape their worldview and values.
2. Identify key events and milestones: Determine significant events or milestones in your character's life that have had a profound impact on them. These could include positive or negative experiences, such as the loss of a loved one, a major achievement, a traumatic incident, or a life-changing decision. These events help shape your character's personality, fears, and aspirations.
3. Examine formative relationships: Explore the relationships your character has had with their family, friends, mentors, or romantic partners. How have these relationships influenced them? What role models or influences have shaped their values, beliefs, and behavior? Relationships can provide insight into your character's vulnerabilities, strengths, and emotional attachments.
4. Dig into their beliefs and values: Understand what your character believes in and values. Examine their moral compass, political views, religious beliefs, or philosophical outlook. Consider how their beliefs might clash or align with the conflicts they encounter in the story. This will create depth and authenticity in their character development.
5. Uncover secrets and hidden aspects: Delve into your character's secrets, hidden desires, or aspects of their past that they prefer to keep hidden. Secrets can create internal conflicts, fuel character growth, and add intrigue to the story. They can also reveal vulnerabilities or flaws that make your character more relatable and complex.
6. Consider the impact of societal factors: Explore how societal factors such as gender, race, class, or historical context have influenced your character's experiences and identity. These factors can shape their struggles, opportunities, and perspectives. Understanding the societal context in which your character exists adds layers of depth to their backstory.
7. Connect the backstory to the main story: Once you have explored the character's backstory, identify how it relates to the main story. Determine how their past experiences, relationships, or traumas influence their present motivations, conflicts, and goals. This connection will ensure that the backstory serves a purpose in the narrative and contributes to the character's growth.
8. Use backstory selectively: While backstory is essential for understanding your character, avoid excessive exposition or information dumping. Introduce elements of the backstory gradually, through dialogue, memories, or subtle hints. This helps maintain reader interest and allows the character's past to unfold organically throughout the story.
Remember, not all aspects of the character's backstory need to be explicitly mentioned in the narrative. It's important to choose and reveal elements that have the most significant impact on the character's present circumstances and development.
