#transphobes have a lot of stuff they're weird about

I just realized I don't want gender neutral bathrooms and changing rooms just for gender reasons. I don't even want them just for practicality reasons, or just for economic reasons.

I want gender neutral hygiene spaces because, in my experience*, women who are bursting to get out of a sports bra and/or pee are wont to say unkind things and excuse it as "between us girls", and men do not wash properly if they think the bro code protects them.

If you don't mind me asking, what kinds of things happened with the Octonauts fandom? I know that the fandom can get really weird, even as an average person in the fandom, but I imagine that it's way worse for you since you're such a big artist.

It's sad that certain people end up pushing away cool people who also enjoy the show and characters just because people are freaks and can't keep their hands off of a kids show :/ even if they're not gross about it, people are so weird and sometimes aggressive??? It's an animated show about animal characters that save other creatures and teach important life lessons!!! What even is there for these people to be weird about, anyway?

The Octonauts fandom, while there was a lot of support and kindness within it, had also had a looooot of baggage..

For one, art theft. I have had mountains of people stealing and reposting my Octonauts artwork. Almost more than my FNAF stuff I would say..

There's also the art tracers. I've called out multiple people for blatantly tracing my art and they refused to stop or take down their posts. I'm sure they were young, but that doesn't make it any more tolerable or less annoying..

Also people snagging all my designs and head cannons. There have been several people who copied my redesigns for the Octonauts line for line. Also people snagging my AUs name for name. Tagging things as sea dwellers and saying their post was canon. Even claiming to have made the au themselves. Despite the fact my specific designs are in their post and the plots I wrote are in there..

But it doesn't stop there. I've been called transphobic for not head cannoning Calico Jack and Kwazii be trans. I've been called homophobic for not shipping Barnacles and Kwazii together, and for not shipping any of the Octodads together. I've been questioned several times why I don't want my Octonauts posts to be tagged ship.

Then there's the crab comic. Despite it being around 3 years since i dropped the comic, I still get people harassing me and calling me horrible things for not finishing it. I have explained again and again and again that I do not want to continue that comic. Yet people will wont leave me alone about it.

I've kept a lot of this behind the scenes. None of my followers need to see all that negativity, and I'm sure some of them were trolls.. So most of this has gone down in my ask box, DMs, etc.

So to sum it up, my boundaries have been pushed a lot in the Octonauts fandom. I set up the Octonauts master post because I knew I wouldn't' have to update it for quite a bit since I don't plan to return to the fandom for a while. But that only resulted in more crab comic asks and unwelcome/demanding drawing requests. Even today my boundaries are still being pushed.

So until something in the fandom changes, or I find a way to interact with the fandom that wont result in all these pushed boundaries.. I plan to just drop the fandom and leave it be. I'll still answer peoples polite questions about it, but all the artwork I make for it will be private.

As a last note, woof. Have other artists gotten sick too? I've really lost my sense of time but I'm told I've been batting this health crisis for around 7 months. It feels waaaay longer than that.. but I guess its just 7 months.. I hope the other artists you know aren't sick for that long-

My health hasn't really gotten much better.. in fact I've gotten a lot worse. But if it is what they say, its not at all life threatening. Just very uncomfortable and makes me go a little nuts being copped up in my room all day 💀 I'm still working on it and hoping I finally see some improvement. Long ass post below the cut

1. To me, transspecies is the rawest, most direct way for me to express my nonhumanity. It cuts through a lot of the vagueness and nuance of some other nonhuman labels (not that there's anything wrong with that ofc) and gets straight to the point: Im not entirely human and want to be acknowledged as such by my peers and society at large. It emphasizes my desire to move through life as nonhuman, and that there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. I also like that it challenges the narrative of human superiority and the idea that species identity is purely biology based. For me personally, it also ties into my experience with being transgender, as I often see my gender as being partially nonhuman. Many things that are gender affirming are also species affirming and vice versa. But obviously you don't have to be transgender to be transspecies, one of my irl packmates and close friend is cisgender transspecies and she's awesome <3

2. It wasn't so much a "discovery" for me. My transspecies identity is very closely tied to my therianthropy, the species I identify as and see myself transitioning into are also all kintypes. So after I realized I was a therianthrope, it was kind of just a slow realization that it was also a label that fit my experiences well. Like most alterhumans I had heard the word used as a weapon against transgender people and alterhumans, so I had a very negative perception of it for a long time. I think the first time I ever heard it referred to in a not-outright-negative sense was in PDTherians "Trans-species?!" youtube video (which I do not recommend as a source of education at all it's a very flawed video that's riddled with misinformation) a few years back, and from there I slowly started to open up to the idea and yeah. The rest is history pretty much lol

3. To some degree I actually can empathize with the stance because I used to be in the same camp, and I know from experience that for a lot of folks it's just well intentioned but misplaced passion of trans liberation. But at the same time it's still a harmful belief and one I grew out of because I matured and learned more about the communities I was part of. Anytime you cast judgement onto a group of people with a harmless identity/belief/interest for the sole purpose of "they're too weird", that harms everyone, not just that group. In this case, hatred against transspecies folks implies that there is a right and a wrong way to be queer/trans, which is harmful not only to nonhumans but to all queer individuals.

4. I think it's bullshit lmao. Shying away from it and outcasting the people who use it does absolutely nothing but divide us further and make us an easier target for discrimination. Categorizing it as a community taboo just turns it into ammunition for transphobes and anti-alterhumans alike. Turning against each other and fighting over stupid shit like labels is exactly what oppressors want, a house divided against itself cannot stand. It also just doesn't make sense, species identity is socially constructed, similar to gender, so why should people be forbidden from using a word to describe that experience just because it's misunderstood?

5. I honestly have no idea why radqueers do anything at all lmaoooo. But if I had to guess, I think it's because on some level, they know that nobody with any semblance of social education or moral compass is ever going to be on board with their beliefs, so instead of trying to fight a losing battle they just barge their way into other small, marginalized, and outcasted groups (alterhuman, altage, paraphiles, etc.) and try to claim them as "part of them". It's a lot easier to tell a group of people "Hey you guys are actually just like us so you need to support our ideology because otherwise you're just fighting against yourself" than it is to try to convince them from scratch that you're not a horrible person.

As for how it's impacted the alterhuman community, Im not entirely sure but luckily I think its effects have been fairly minimal thus far. The alterhuman community is significantly bigger and older than the rq community, I've only ever run into rqs on Tumblr and even here Ive met transspecies folks who had never heard of radqueers before. I think its biggest impacts have been on the transspecies niche specifically, since they often try to lump it in with transid's like "transrace" and "transharmful", which leads to the assumption from outsiders that they're inherently connected and that all transspecies folks agree with those stances as well. But I think as transspecies and alterhumanity as a whole slowly becomes less stigmatized and more widely understood over time, that belief will also fade and die off.

Sorry for the massive text wall lmao, I hope that wasn't too much info. But again thank you sm for asking ^^ I think it's super important that folks out there are interested in learning more about this stuff and that alterhumans are able to communicate their experiences to one another <3

ok sure i can explain a bit more although its hard to tell what bit was confusing so ill just try to be as clear as possible

i see a lot of people talking about how its bad to call out transfems for their weird kinks. there's a lot of reasons for this, the idea of 'sexual deviancy' being bad is a transphobic stereotype that trans women are particularly vulnerable to, these accusations stick with you and can make life really difficult, especially if a large amount of your support network is online

but like the obvious corollary to this is there's nothing wrong with transfems (or others) having weird kinks. frankly i still wouldn't be a big fan of callout culture even if these accusations were always Real and Valid but clearly a big part of the reason why they're receiving pushback is that we shouldn't think being into weird porn is a problem.

and people tend to tiptoe around this part! they stick to the former talking points because they're more palatable to the general userbase than directly defending fetishes by saying stuff like you have to be nice to furries or gore art doesn't correspond to a desire to hurt people in real life

and there's nothing that people don't want to defend more than loli/shota content, to the point that even in these "don't do callouts over fetishes" posts often the issue is 'how dare you smear a trans woman by insinuating she likes or defends lolisho' and not 'who fucking cares'

which is like. kind of a problem if you happen to be a transfem who's also a lolicon (many of my friends)

in conclusion i don't necessarily blame people for acting this way (i understand the pressures of posting on this site) but I do think you actually do have to be okay with the weird fetish shit that gets called out if you're going to get mad at callout posts

This has been sitting in my askbox for a long time because I wasn’t sure how to address it or whether to even address it or just delete it, as it feels like a topic that’s bigger than I am and I can’t ever properly address all of it. But all I’ll say is, while I agree that not all discussion of Harry Potter or other shitty medias is promotion and we as individuals shouldn’t be held accountable for the actions of a transphobic billionaire, it is still important to approach the subject with nuance and make sure the ways in which we talk about it do not spread harm. I think that’s why so many polls decide to ban it and other medias from their polls, because most of them are designed to find the “best” of something and to insinuate that something from one of those medias can be the best could be harmful. That’s why I’m not gonna post any asks that defend the series as a whole or the franchise as a property, because it’s not right to even humor those who want to downplay transphobia and antisemitism (among others). Aaaanyways all this to say if people discourse about Harry Potter characters in the notes or askbox go for it just remember the real people impacted by the bigotries present in it when considering the way you want to make your discussions

So. There's a few things I need to address. My documentation and study of bimbos began as a personal project. I only started a blog because I was putting a ridiculous amount of work and thought into this and figured it should be shared (and still, there's SO much I haven't shared yet...). And that's part of why this blog isn't so well managed, not consistent, and very informal. I write every post with the assumption whoever reading will have some familiarity with the fetish and that was kind of a mistake when dealing with subject matter as delicate as this and if I want to be able to attract literally any other audience. But the blog is here now so its kind of a moot point. I won't be rewriting posts. I want to kill myself every day, its astonishing I can write anything. Anyway, recently I discovered an adult performer named Celestina Blooms, in particular, this video:

We share a lot of the same thoughts. And her criticisms of BimboTok are a lot better articulated. Here are some of things she's said that stood out to me (paraphrased):

"As an actual political movement, the Gen Z bimbo isn't actually very helpful beyond being satire because there are contradictions."

"It makes no sense to be expected to have every single decision in your life, in every area of your life, be a form of activism."

"If you don't spend enough time watching all their videos to completely get the point it looks like they're satirizing the ideologies they're preaching."

"They're kind of taking this thing and being like 'Hey! This thing is leftist because I'm leftist and I said so!' when the thing is still something very tied to a lot of systems of oppression."

"I think there's an issue with saying that being feminine is feminist."

"Because there are so many minors on TikTok they'll come across this trend and see the cute aesthetic and cute clothes, and for good measure, the ideologies a lot of them agree with and be like 'Fuck yes! Sign me up!' and before you know it they're dressing like a bimbo, calling themselves a 'bimbo', and all this stuff while not even being aware of this whole other world of bimbofication as a fetish and unknowingly calling attention to themselves."

She also brings up Pink Bimbo Academy in this video (not by name, and if you somehow see this Celestina, sorry for blowing up your spot!). I bring this up because PBA actually reached out to me like two weeks ago. We had an extremely brief conversation. He lost all interest as soon as he realized my blog isn't primarily about real life bimbos and, like Celestina, I don't believe bimbos are really a real life thing. This is the reason for my last text post (now pinned).

Up until this point I didn't realize Pink Bimbo Academy was a guy, or extremely weird. He's one of those bimbo enthusiasts that genuinely believes every woman should be a bimbo, unless they're trans that is, because according to him a bimbo can't have a penis or possess any "masculine" qualities. He seems to view bimbofication less as a fetish and more of a means to an end. To him, bimbos are the peak of femininity and bimbofication only helps women to become more of who they're "biologically" meant to be. He has entire rants against feminism up on his website and aspires to create an actual real-life bimbo finishing school, like he's a super villain or some shit, like the antagonist of every school-set bimbofication story come to life. And unfortunately, he's basically the resource for bimbofication online. I have to assume not everyone that follows his guides reads all his posts and FAQ but its more than disappointing to have a transphobe be one of the main vanguards of this fetish today.

Anyway, I can't recommend Celestina's video enough. Its a bit long but all worth watching and has made the prospect of writing this book exciting again. I would suggest this video of hers too:

i see so many transfemmes work themselves into hysteria over the discourse and it makes me… sad? not that there's not stuff to worry about but i feel like it creates an echo chamber in which a lot of transfemmes on this site think everyone other than their group (of usually binary transfemmes-- i don't mean this in a 'haha they're just like cis women way', but in a i feel like even amongst themselves a lot of trans women aren't allowed the same gender exploration other people have) is enemy no. 1 and/or is out to get them. and it makes me sad to see what should be a community of women uplifting each other like… tearing each other down and freaking each other out, from what it sounds like. i feel like i can't even have an interpersonal conflict with a trans women-- nothing to do with her gender-- without immediate accusations and assumptions of 'well you must be transphobic in SOME way/you're transphobic for disagreeing with her/you're isolating her for not being her friend' ect ect ect.

i can totally understand the societal harm and pain trans women go through-- but having the very dynamics of interpersonal friend groups be dragged into social justice feels… weird? like the vibe of you're a transmisogynist if you have boundaries around a trans woman. i hate feeling like i can't talk to my trans woman peers because my first thought is 'if i criticize her in any way i'll be contributing to trans women feeling like they HAVE to shrink themselves in social spaces'.

in a lot of ways i think in trying to 'support' trans woman a lot of people on here have swung the other way into fetishizing them 'positively', in almost a chaser-esque way? there's a lot of vibes of 'if a trans woman says something It Is Law and you can't disagree with her unless you're a Bad Person-- unless she's one of the Bad trans women in which case we're allowed to dehumanize her'.

the thought that just by being around someone you're going to hurt them makes you a lot less liable to even want to talk to them.

I've seen at least one transfem complain that her transmasc friends are transmisogynystic for not making jokes transfemininity the way they do transmasculinity, and it's like, yeah, I fucking wonder why.

Hi! I kinda need a second opinion on something from someone unbiased, so I hope you don’t mind me asking you.

I’m concerned I might be transphobic, or more accurately, that I have internalized transphobia. It’s kinda relevant so I’ll add that I’m Afab, genderfluid and Bi with a preference for women.

So my concern stems from that like, women with male anatomy make me uncomfortable. I don’t mean that interacting with trans ladies make me feel that, just like, the mental image of a hypothetical trans woman with the part. Other than that I don’t care.

the thing is, the grossed out feeling isn’t there when it’s a hypothetical trans man in my head. But in the opposite side, the idea of seeing the trans men I do know undressed makes me even more uncomfortable (as they’re my friends; most of my circle is made of trans boys). I actually don’t know any trans women irl, but once there’s a face to the name, I just assume it would be awkward but then we’d move on, if you know what I mean? Like the hypothetical trans girl weirds me out, but like not one I’ve met via the socials ig.

I don’t know if it’s like, internalized sexism and dislike for Cis Straight men ( I have a fear of men if that’s relevant. I’m trying to give you the full picture without any of my own personal biases, so I’m sorry if I’ve overloading you with useless facts about myself) or if it’s that bc I’m more attracted to women and I think male anatomy isn’t attractive?

I also don’t headcanon female characters as trans like I do for my favorite male characters. Not in a I-relate-to-the-transmasc experience sorta way but like, i don’t want my favorite female characters to be trans. Ew I don’t like that I feel that way EW.

Sorry it took me a while to get back to you, I was honestly thinking through my answer.

So I'm not an expert and I'm not in your head, but it kind of sounds like a mixture of reasons.

You're transmasc, so you've said yourself that you don't identify as much with the transfem experience. That could be part of it.

You said you're not attracted to traditionally male anatomy and that could definitely be part of it as well. And that's nothing to be sorry about!

I also think it could be some internalized transphobia.

I think the most important part, though, is that you've said yourself that you haven't interacted much with mtf trans people. I think this is probably a huge part of the problem. You're probably basing a lot of your ideas and preconceived notions on stereotypes, you know? I would encourage you to like..think through some of the thoughts you have and where they come from. And what they're based on, if that makes sense? You're allowed to have preferences when it comes to sex and even what characters you read, but it seems like you might need to open your mind a bit more about mtf trans people in general.

Hi! The ONLY source that, to my knowledge, exists for these accusations is Tortoise Media, which is a TERF site. One of the main journalists that investigated the whole thing was Rachel Johnson, sister of the former UK PM Boris Johnson. The woman is a straight up TERF. Notably, David Tenant (good omens actor, fervent defender of trans rights, has insulted Boris Johnson on interview (about covid, in the clip i saw) as WELL as the recent thing insulting Kami Banedoch for being transphobic) had recently gone to bat for trans rights, and Gaiman has been in open support of trans rights as well for a long while now. Tennant has a trans kid.

The first article that dropped ABOUT the podcast was also pushing TERF articles last I saw. The podcast itself has strange facts—both accusers have basically the exact same story set 20 years apart, both claim the relationship was completely consensual and enthusiastic except in the specific instances they're accusing, both claim to have be predated on at a young but adult age. Now, usually this might be like. An MO for someone who has a habit of doing this, except...it's twice, twenty years apart, and I certainly haven't seen anyone else come out. Usually when there's such a huge amount of time, a bunch of other people will gather the courage to stand up and add their own assault to the list.

Now, I will be very clear: I am not saying for certain these women lied. I can't know that, obviously. I don't know neil gaiman and I don't claim to know anything about his character beyond how staunch he's been publically about trans rights.

But it absolutely should be kept in mind that the case these women present is so incredibly grey, and if they ARE lying they have picked the PERFECT lie to get away with. There is literally no way Gaiman CAN prove, for absolute certain, he did not do this, given that they literally go on about how they had consensual relations in their proof texts.

There's some other weird stuff going on, like the podcast stating they interviewed Gaiman even though he's been completely radio silent, the fact that it came out on a podcast in the first place and not like. An actual news article? IDK.

Honestly, maybe I'm being a little harsh, but I'm incredibly frustrated with how a lot of people on this website could witness a male/masc assault with their own two fucking eyeballs, or literally hear recorded confessions and STILL say the victim was the aggressor—and yet they'll jump over themselves to shame and silence anyone for being the least bit skeptical of an incredibly strange and well-timed accusation (by a fucking TERF whose family was literally insulted by an actor in one of Gaimans queer-positive shows) against a prominent writer who's been very vocally supportive of trans people.

Bottom line: believe victims, but be aware that victimhood (especially of this kind) has been used as a weapon against marginalized people throughout history, and will continue to be used as such. It's not conspiracy theorizing to look at all the facts objectively and come to the conclusion that something seems a little off.
