i hate how trans boys think they were born imperfect. you were born unfinished. go on, continue it. continue and finish in the act of creation.
anon you understand so beautifully i’m going to kiss you on the mouth

the fact that the us government can continue funding and arming a genocide despite massive public opposition really highlights how inherently non-democratic the united states is
#almost like the idea of a representative demcracy is both historically undemocratic and inherently is incapable of being so#by historically i mean that representative democracies have always meant the creation of a category of ‘citizen’ that is above ‘non-citizen#even the civilization where the term democracy comes from was patriarchal and had fucking slavery#not chattel slavery but (hot take) non chattel slavery is still bad.#also fundamentally one person can literally not represent the wishes of a large collection of people who have only geography in common.#theyre going to want different things!!!#now the idea of if democracy is inherently a virtue is like. another topic. but i will say that like seeing the history of like the#popular sovreignty movement wrt to slavery really made me question it. just because a lot of people want something to happen doesnt#actually mean it should happen. white people voted to legalize slavery#kind of where the old ‘minority’ terminology comes in. just by numbers alone in the states that had these votes it wasnt like in the south#where in the south because of plantations the actual population majority in some places was black.#but in those midwestern new states even if everyone person there could have voted. white people would still be the vasy majority.#honestly to a degree pointing out that none of the societies that have claimed to be democracies have truly been democratic is…#i guess the primary value in it is to challenge people who take state mythologies at face level#a very large population that i often forget exists.#the ‘they cant do that its illegal’ types.#anyways. if we consider that every society in documented history has had some type of violence and oppression#and if we believe that people are NOT inherently selfish/violent#it follows that what we need to do is something different than what we have been doing.#not just different from what we are doing right now. but different from what we have been doing for the past centuries#but also i can imagine that societies and ways of living that aren’t legible to the status quo or just went undocumented for other reasons#may have been more egalitarian. and we dont know due to erasure (either intentional or non-intentional)#both erasure and a fundamental inability of historians to comprehend it. similar to how cishet historians who cant fathom the idea of#transness or lesbianism talk about things.

i'm having some sort of revelation and now i can't stop thinking about how beautiful trans people are in a spiritual sense. like god looked down at his creation and decided that he wanted humans to share in his creativity, which is why we can build things and make art and all that. but also he gave us the creative power to be who we are! what evangelicals don't understand is that trans people existing doesn't take anything away from god's ability to create. they're just proof that we share in his ability to create, and also that he wants us to be creative. the longer i live as queer the more i realize exactly how beautifully trans people fit into creation.

Transness is holy. God made grapes so that we could make the wine that becomes the blood of Jesus. He made us trans so we could sculpt ourselves in His image. This, too, is an act of creation.

do you not believe in gendered socialization? not trying to be a bad faith ask btw im a leftist and i generally agree w all ur takes but i do pretty firmly believe in gendered socialization being like a thing w material consequences so im interested in ur take if you’re willing to give it
no. "gendered socialisation" is about a stone's throw away from "sex-based oppression" if we're being real about it. in discourse terms, it gets pulled out to denote an ineluctable state of "womanhood"-subjectivity in those coercively assigned femaleness and ineluctable "manhood"-subjectivity to those coercively assigned maleness; in other words, it gets used as a cudgel for gender essentialism coming from "progressive" types by which the claim that trans women/otherwise TMA people have "male privilege" ("male socialisation") can be smuggled into the discourse; the experiences of cis women and trans men/otherwise transmasc people are privileged as a standardised form of 'female socialisation' that pits them not as agentive within social forms of gender (and as beneficiaries of transmisogyny) but as unilaterally 'oppressed' to the unilaterally 'oppressive' male-socialised. there is no one coherent form of "gendered socialisation"; how gender is coercively socially imposed varies along countless axes that cannot be accounted for under one sole framework. if you want to say that experiences and subjectivities are shaped by misogyny or patriarchy then simply name misogyny and patriarchy as deciding factors. it suffers from the same fundamental issue as many contemporary feminisms ie. that even in its most charitable form, it attempts to present a complete account of "womanhood" and account for transfemininity only after the fact via hamfisted exceptionalism, rather than beginning with transmisogyny as the lynchpin of gendering and developing itself from there.
+ in general i try not to overrely on the language of "socialisation" and "conditioning" to describe behaviours and relationships -- unlike "coercion," which i think identifies the discourses of power + antagonism present in these modes of subject-creation, the language of socialisation and conditioning conjures up this idea of a non-agentive, immutable relationship to gender (one in which gender is not something we do but something that is done to us) which stands fundamentally at odds with what transness should articulate. i guess another way of putting it is that i don't really believe in appeals to what people do or do not "experience" [x does or does not "experience" misogyny etc] as a cogent way of developing an actual theory of oppression + liberation.

dragon age getting the top surgery scar option is at the same time bare minimum achievement, but also a huge thing.
as far as i know, there is like. not a single goddamn triple A roleplaying game where top surgery scars are an option. sims 4 has been so far the only triple A game i have ever seen where i can put top surgery scars on characters.
(edit: i am treating sims 4 separate in this discussion not because i do not think that its a real game or whatever, but because its a game about simulating life. while what they did was huge, transness is something that falls in the core themes and gameplay of the game. trans representation in a game entirely centered around simulating full range of human existence would not be as bold move as it is to include it in a game where player character's gender is irrelevant to the game in it's core)
its so absurd how so many "trans inclusive" games have failed at this, because their inclusivity is extremely surface level. none of them bothered to research this enough to even realize that its something that should be included. ability to even make trans masc characters in these games felt always more of a side effect of them giving ability to mix & match genitalia and body types rather than something they actively wanted to include in their game.
like its baffling that multiple games hailed as trans inclusive have not been able to deliver more than cis man with an average cis woman's pussy png stapled on groin. its always left up to modders to actually make the characters into trans men.
like... i have spent now years dreaming of a roleplaying game where i could at least get the smallest bare minimum crumble of actual representation. game after game has failed to fulfill this regardless of how absurdly simple addition it would be. like its so surreal that game after game has failed to include such a small thing while proudly bragging about how inclusive their character creation is.
and to finally get this dream fulfilled feels amazing. i feel like finally someone cares enough about existence of trans men to realize that this is something that needs to exist in the game.

God blessed me by making me transsexual for the same reason God made wheat but not bread and fruit but not wine, so that humanity might share in the act of creation.
