Not really sure what to put here. Ratricks started off as a weird anon who harrassed and stalked the characters on @battle-subway-ghost and several accounts close to that. they've sinced changed and worked to make things better but still are. A very offputting teen for reasons yet to be revealed.

i have several thoughts to offer and theyre all about r7 ivan vs luka >:DDD

first would be an alt song choice for the round. i was going through my old kpop playlist and exo's MAMA came on and i had an idea. as two of the most popular pets of the season, production would want to make as much of a spectacle out of it as possible esp since theyll be losing one of them anyways. exo's MAMA has that crowd chorus parts (idk what theyre formally called my bad) that would let the audience join in in certain parts like in blink gone. it also has that air of a hard hitting finale, all those booms and powerful vocals that are fitting for the final top 2. the lyrics about humans losing their humanity cld be mocking the apparent "lack" of humanity in ivan and luka (one considers himself 'monstrous' and the other is more segyein than human bc of how hes socialized). MAMA in the song translates to "your majesty", which is a callback to luka's "ruler of my heart", a subtle foreshadowing that the winner will always be luka no matter what.

ivan mapping stars and skies but having to simplify and do it twice (one with labels on all the stars (ex. kdj-1864), diagrams, etc, and another without all that nonsense)...

unsha's wife dressing ivan up in cute clothes!! she buys dresses, suits, maid outfits—whatever she thinks will be cute on ivan! and she takes ivan out in these costumes... and the rebellion sees them and are like "what a pampered human he disgusts me why is he sucking up to aliens does he even know what they do wrong."

meanwhile ivan sees them and tries to see if till thinks he looks cute/cool/handsome etc

and unsha's wife wants to show ivan off (aw look at my lil pet, he made the final round in alnst!), but its a breach of contract so she has ivan practice all sorts of things waiting for the day for the contract to expire..

which happens in two years. unsha's wife makes ivan become an inter-galactical idol, and the rebellion sees and till is like, "ivan needs to be saved!"

..anyways the rebel hideout becomes an ivan fanclub. i dont make the rules. official merch (all stolen, btw) is strung up on the walls and on altars. isaac and dewey are like, whats the deal with him, and hyuna reveals that he's their mysterious mapper (who she recognized when ivan's stage name, navi, is revealed).

Do you have any tips for drawing backgrounds? Yours always look so nice

aww thank you! As for tips...

Tip #1:

Find references. I sketched the cover for chapter 4 three different times, because the first two didn't evoke the majesty of the Prism Tower in the way I wanted it to. And then I saw this

I think you can see how this translated into the cover

Tip #2:

Do studies. Be it from photos (your own or from a royalty free website like pixabay, but watch out for AI garbage bc the perspective is usually wrong) or from real life. It's not cheating, it's encouraged, and it's industry standard. Idc if you have photographic memory, get something from real life in front of your eyeballs and draw it. Try and keep your reference close to your drawing so that it's easier for your eyes to flick back and forth between the two. This is how you can train your eyes to really see what's going on in an image. Compare angles, shapes, sizes, and distances.

I use clip studio paint for Genesis, which has perspective rulers and they're super handy for speeding up the process (first image) and again, is not cheating. It's a tool to use in your arsenal. A little tricky to use, but once you get it down, it's fantastic. I also really recommend using other mediums, like a sketchbook and a sharpie (2nd image) or dinking around in Paint (3rd image). Limiting yourself in challenging ways is a great way to grow fast. Experimenting like this is also great for finding a style or technique that you click with

Tip #3:

Be aware of the cone of vision. This is a technical skill, but it's one of those things that you don't necessarily have to draw out every single time (tho I'd recommend doing it at least once to burn it into your memory better). If your drawing is looking wonky, the cone of vision being breached is a likely culprit. I'll link a video to someone who can explain how to do it better than I can.

Tip #4:

Learn how to draw things the same size in perspective. This is probably the thing I use the most. For example;

You have a tiled floor in a room. The lines going to the vanishing point are easy to do.

But how do you do the horizontal ones going across the floor?

Step 1: draw two horizontal lines, and put an X in one of them, going from corner to corner

Step 2: Going from the center of the X, trace a line back to the vanishing point

Step 3: from one corner, draw a line that goes through where that center line hits the tile edge

Step 4: at the end of this new line is where the next tile will start

Step 5: Rinse and repeat as needed

Ta-da! You now have tiles that are all the same size

This also works for vertical things like windows or telephone poles

One of the most useful applications I've found this trick for is making sure that everything is the right size. Sticking a person in a drawing is an instantly recognizable way to show scale

Whilst sketching the cover for ch 4, I'd accidentally made the doors way too small in the buildings in the back, so I slapped some people down to make sure they were the right height (This is in 3-point perspective, so the trick still works, regardless of if it's 1-, 2-, or 3-pt perspective owo b )

[initial reactions]Star Trek Discovery 5x07 - Erigah

Again, another solid episode with good pacing and with an ensemble showing that’s been really great.

I love the whole negotiations thing between Federation/Starfleet and the Breen — this is what modern Trek is missing, the political negotiations and stand offs and I’m glad to see it again. One of the things I do love about this though is how Civilian ambassador/representative of the Federation is involved.

This was something that was missing in the negotiations between the Dominion and Starfleet. I love Sisko but he’s Starfleet, and speaking for the entire Federation didn’t feel right— it was very Stargate SG teams spoke for the whole of Earth thing that always bothered me.

T’rina also proved why Vulcans are formidable diplomats and that they’re not pushovers — the trick with the translation and precise translation was really Great. Especially after I finished watching Shogun where translation and precision of language was everything.

I love how Rayner’s background played into it and how that history helped with the current negotiation. Kelleruns are from the Gamma Quadrant, it makes sense why the Breen would be expanding in their direction.

Also, the Breen using Borg Green and black is really distracting to me, who is a fan of the Borg.

I love Michael’s instincts about this, it makes sense she thinks there’s more to this Erigah with L’ak. Everyone’s so shook about the Breen arriving that they’re going with their first instincts but Michael’s gamble almost worked… if not for these meddling kids.

I recognize that L’ak’s fate is really tragic but also — oh boy, Moll, your man was a Fail Boy. He hurt himself because he fell on his own knife — all Michael did was watch in disbelief as he fell on his own knife.

And then the next thing he did was over dosed himself trying to help Moll get away, all for nothing because it just ended up killing him.

Like — Dude. My man. You are not made for this adventurous life.

I guess that’s why you’re dead. Amazing.

Jett Reno remains cool but also baffling because is she, or is she not the Chief Engineer? Because B’Elanna and Geordie and even Scotty do go along their respective ships fixing things along but we also see them delegate and order around teams. And we haven’t really seen Reno do that yet.

On the other hand, SEVEN OF LIMES. LMAO. Seven would get a kick out of that —- or maybe she won’t. It’s so funny how Seven went from someone who can’t hold liquor, to someone with some sort of functional alcoholism, to getting a drink named after her. Our girl has Gone Through a Journey and survived 400 years.

Up next, BAD LANDS! And we’re finally going to see the Badlands the way the writers envisioned them. I hope we get to see what Deep Space Nine looks like!

Again, it’s a damned shame this is the last season for Discovery because they really found their pacing and their wheelhouse — 50 episodes in as most Trek shows have found their footing.

Bowser Junior

During an experiment that Iggy and Ludwig were performing in hopes of improving the travel speeds of their spaceships, an accident caused all eight members of the Royal Brood to be pulled into multiple wormholes and scattered across the cosmos. Junior ended up on a planet filled with Dino Piranhas, and struggled to survive until a trio of strange, squishy creatures found and seemingly adopted him.

While Junior tried keeping his distance out of fear that these squishy folk were actually kidnappers, it didn't take long for his curiosity and need for comfort to overpower any of his fears. He bonded fastest with the purple-maned one; often riding piggyback around the ship or curling up next to him and his fuzzy friend when it's time to sleep. He turns out to be a quick learner when it comes to their languages, easily figuring out short sentences in English and, by courtesy of the red-clad one, several curse words in Italian.

Dalex

A fifteen-year-old human who was snatched in the dead of night while taking his dog out for a late-night bathroom break. Despite his near-overwhelming fear, he teamed up with Mario and Luigi to hijack the ship the three of them were imprisoned on, successfully taking control of the newly-dubbed Starship Mario. It takes a while for Dal to actually warm up to the Bros., but regularly talking about their respective families helps him avoid cracking from under the stress and homesickness.

After rescuing Bowser Jr., Dal becomes the turtle kid's primary caretaker, along with some of the younger Koopalings once they too are found. Before meeting Iggy and subsequently getting a translator built, Dal taught Junior how to speak bits and pieces of English, and can understand his words better than Mario or Luigi. Think of it like "babysitter learning a kid's speech patterns while other people still hear gibberish."

Viridi

Dal's loyal companion and fuzzy baby child. He was abducted alongside his owner and stayed as close to Dal as possible during both their confinement and eventual starship takeover. 'Distraction' was the name of this dog's game, barking at their captors with varying degrees of success during the fight. Hard to tell if they'd never heard a dog bark before or they were actually scared by it, but they got an old-fashioned Mario Bros. Beatdown regardless.

Compared to all the other "crewmembers," Viridi's the most calm, even excited about what awaits them on their new journey. He likes the odd scaly child; those claws give the greatest scritches he's ever gotten in his life (sorry Dally). Of course, being excited and curious isn't always a good thing, as Viridi's go-to method of following his nose can lead to trouble. Of all the times to lose the leash, it had to be during a space adventure... =_="

silveredge is just the ship name for gin x fell! it was just the name that came naturally and i felt fit them :)

silverware specifically was because me and my friends were joking around that "lol cross has knives. gink cutlery animatic. silverware, get it?" and there it is LOL

the names for the ship kids (im assuming sterling and rust specifically) was just because i thought it fit them and the ship :p

HELLO YUE!! I won't lie to ya, chief; you've given me a tricky task here! Picking my favourite muse out of your catalogue is like choosing my favourite kind of chocolate, and let me tell you, I have a SWEET TOOTH! Haha!

So, I've cut this post for brevity's sake, but I chose a wild card assortment!

So, in order, I put down

Asteria because my wife. I MEAN because thematically, I think these two would naturally have interactions, with Astaria being a lore-keeper and Amity filling a similar cultural role in Saijikara and Amity being a part of the Pokemon league. Asteria is (presumably) involved with the greater institution as the Hoenn champion, SO YOU SEE WHAT I'M GETTING AT HERE.

Cynthia for similar reasons but also because geographically, she's just a lot closer to Saijikara and Amity by extension. Amity and Cynthia have a similar kind of curiosity and I think it would be interesting to smoosh that together? I don't have the words to perfectly describe it, but they both have a curious but respectful air that, like, I would trust them to go into a tomb and not be a clown about it and instead sit down in the dusty darkness for an hour writing down all the glyphs to translate later. Also, because SPIRITOMB CLUB SPIRITOMB CLUB, if a collection of hundreds of souls can vibe with you and want to help serve your cause, you KNOW you're in good company - safety not considered! Haha

Nathanael because it would fascinating in a 'this is going to go down like a cherry bomb thrown into a bathroom,' not because she can't vibe with his personality (she's very patient and is spectrum/has grown up with others on the spectrum so she's completely missing that trait that gives her friction over some social cues not being followed, (Amity is oblivious, she's aware but doesn't track the following/not following) ) or because she inherently disagrees with his stances, cause honestly she doesn't! It's just the combination of both, the N 'charm,' being questioned and put on the defence, especially in regards to questioning her Pokemon Team (which is ACTUALLY her found family, not in the 'tee hee close friend group' way but like, Whinnie adopted her, he considers her sister, Magnus followed, and others trickled in to form what she calls her coven, they've been the only present family structure she's had since she was 8 and Whinnie rescued her from certain death in the forest - especially given the toxic family unit she returned to after and her mother legitimately coming to hate her - and they were her direct lifeline in raising her siblings. Poking at that is one of the only ways to genuinely get her to break character and get legitimately enraged, which probably would happen) I just - I would kill to see Amity genuinely pushed to express a negative emotion on the main - BUTTTT BUT BUT BUT, I am OFTEN wrong about Amity's reaction to things and how she takes the wheel in regards to herself - Amity wasn't meant to have ADHD, but that evolved naturally. Aside from the entertainment of a blow-up, it could be interesting if they could be civil. well, well, well, isn't it by far the longest list I'll probably ever make in my existence as an alter, let alone our life? let's just cut to the chase: I'm ranking all of my fanfiction on Quotev. And by golly is there a lot!

Keep in mind that while I do have original stories such as Comet Boy, I am gonna be ranking solely my fanfiction.

Under this cut, we're going through a ranking of 11-1, going from least to most personal favorite, which is the total fanfiction I've written ever basically. This is excluding quizzes and unfinished fanfiction that aren't published. We'll start with the ranking, then I'll reblog with the quizzes, and unfinished works later, because the ranking alone is really long.

ALSO, TO CLARIFY: All the fanfiction I am mentioning is on Quotev. There's not really any other way for you to read them atm, but I am planning on publishing some to AO3.

I'm genuinely terrified to post this, but without anymore fluff, let's go.

RANKING ALL PUBLISHED FANFICTION

#11: child of a vampire, lover of a killer (sus mcr x reader fic owo?), MCR parody fic, link

This is my least favorite fanfiction of all time. I fucking regret writing this disgrace and I hate it with my heart. Ignoring the fact that I didn't put my heart into it, everyone LOVED this fanfiction the most, and for a while it felt like no matter what I posted or what I did, the only thing that mattered to my followers was just that stupid parody fic. I don't think I ever really hated something I made until I made this. I'm glad more people are starting to gravitate towards my more genuine works but god.

#10: Something's Not Right..., killjoys au, sigh... link

So you know how I said I fucking HATED child of a vampire? Well this one is a second. It's not really the idea I hate (au where the Killjoys names are taken literally), actually, I kinda made a revamp of this fic after with some changes!, but the execution along with frankly its revamp is bad... I am horrible at life advice, but dear future me: DONT DO THIS EVER AGAIN. The plot is basically nonexistent, and you can hardly even read what Fun Ghoul and Kobra Kid say, because for some reason I thought people fully understood what the fuck they were saying, so I didn't provide ANY translations!! It's not the worst I've written (flashbacks to my creepypasta era), but god it's definitely bad.

now, finally, with my grievances out, this is where I actually show you stuff I don't hate with my bones

#9: The Travel To Headbutt THE OLD GOAT, goatsim x mcr mashup, link

not really bad, per se, honestly, I could even say it's cute. It follows my average gameplay in goat simulator basically, featuring a totally underused (sarcasm) Bulletproof Heart reference in the end. It's only lower because I didn't even finish the first chapter. Surprisingly, this is a fanfic a lot of people like, despite its.. weirdness.

#8: Slightly Tilted (A Killjoy AU Fic), title explains itself, link

This one isn't actually that bad, and it actually has finished chapters. The dialog with Kobra Kid is ten times better, and I even explained some of the AU (at least with the characters) so there's given context! Honestly, I only put it in a lower ranking because I'm salty i never mentioned the Girl and the constantly changing perspectives. At least it was one perspective per chapter. Also, this becomes a more common problem with some fanfiction I wrote in 2022, but for some reason I wrote dialog like " This ". Whenever I get to posting all of these lovely cringefics on AO3, I will be fixing that, along with updating that on Quotev. For the meantime, we will need to deal with it.

#7: Confused Spider, killjoy au, link

Honestly, it's not bad, but it's really not good either. Unfinished, unnatural interaction. You can tell I have never talked with a neurotypical person or really anyone in years. I don't really like how Party Poison is characterized. I don't know what I could really say here, it's just really a nothing fic. Dialogue spacing problem like " this " still persists.

#6: Odd Place (Party Poison x Reader), killjoy y/n fic basically, link

Unironically? It's bad, really bad. Despite this taking me an entire year writing, and me actively avoiding every y/n cliche I saw, I accidentally made this fanfiction even more like a y/n self insert. The grammar is bad, the prologue is shit, the paragraphs are completely disorganized, the characterization is horrid, and so help me god if I see another "author's note" in ANY PART OF THIS FIC. Ironically? Genuinely a funny fanfic. It is so bad, it ends up being funny. I 100% recommend getting on call with your friends and reading this out loud because you will be howling by the end of it.

#5: pretty, pretty fangs, Twilight oneshot, link

Yeah, pretty startling surprise compared so everything you just saw, right? Even more shocking, it's actually turning 1 year old in 2 days as of writing. This was written in honor of one of my friends writing a really good AU where instead of Bella and Edward, it's Bella and Alice, where I then wrote about Jacob and Edward. I actually never read or watched Twilight when I wrote this, so I was really using memes and what said friend has said about the characters. My friend and other people really liked it, so I think I characterized Jacob and Edward pretty good in this. As said, I haven't read or watched Twilight in any way except for maybe the very last movie, so I really know nothing lol. enjoy your werewolf-vampire yaoi ig

#4: Coffee Machine (Frerard) [clickbait title], not frerard, but a MCR AU about ghosts, link

Contrary to what the title says, it has nothing to do with Frerard! I just felt like being a dick and added it to the title to catch the viewer's attention. Honestly, I kinda like this one. I was more than aware about how ridiculous the concept is that Gerard Way is literally a coffee machine, but despite that, I still treated this with respect and took it seriously. This was/is one of my more popular fanfiction amongst my followers, aside from the wretched 'child of a vampire', and I guess I see why. Little bonus fact: This was inspired of a fanfiction I heard of where apparently Gerard was a housefly, do what you will with that.

#3: A Second Chance, Take a Life, Another Mission, MCR zombie AU, link

A dark twist on a fanfiction I wrote before this that has yet to be mentioned, but will show up later. Honestly, out of all of these, this one is frankly the longest fanfic I wrote, both in length, and how long it took me to write this. Like, I think chapter 1 alone took me three months, and chapter 2 took me seven. One of my older fics, yes, but I think it aged pretty good for the most part. There are some gripes I have but they're mostly personal, rather than anything in terms of actual writing skill. I will say though, I feel with how I described things and stuff, this should've been an animation rather than a text.

#2: Burning Bolts, scientist au, link

Despite this being only 1 chapter long, and franky really silly, this is one of my personal favorites. Sure, it is very unrealistic for Gerard or even literally the laws of science and physics, but I genuinely had fun with it. I was actually inspired by one of my childhood shows, The Adventures of Figaro Pho. Honestly, one of my regrets is really not continuing on this. There isn't much I can really say.

#1: Zombie Disco, MCR zombie AU, link

This.. I have a lot to say about this one specifically. To start, wow is this writing and storyline actually insane. Most of this was written on mobile, and it really shows. The dialog spacing issue is EXTREMELY bad here, the extra spacing between paragraphs, the drawings I did for this one, the exaggerated grammar (i.e. "WHAT THE FUUUUCK?!"). THE BONER JOKE. This has it all, this was my Frankenstein's monster. This is my baby. I have no words, it's genuinely hilarious. Ironically, this is my favorite fanfiction, and it's one of the earliest fanfictions I wrote. I have changed a lot in progress and it really shows if you look at what I write now vs. this fanfiction. I would hate but honestly, I love it. The sole reason this even happened was because I was having a horrible panic attack in the middle of the night, and in an attempt to calm myself down, I wrote the entirety of the first chapter, and I liked it so much afterwards, I published it. This fanfiction means a lot to me, even if it's probably the worst I have ever written, writing skill wise. Currently, I'm actually rewriting this, and yes I will include the infamous joke in some fucking way because I don't think I could've written anything funnier than having Frank Iero comparing a zombie's involuntary craving of flesh to a boner. I'm sorry, I'm being like a 12 year old rn, I don't care, that's funny!! 2022 me was whack.

i feel like perhaps my answer wouldn't change all that much tho. the big thing about orlam in my head is that in any kind of interaction, he needs to feel like he's the one in control of the situation (perhaps because he's spent so much of his life feeling like everyone else was controlling him). and i think this translates to any kind of interaction, whether it's someone just casually talking to him, picking on him, flirting with him, etc. he tends to not respond well if people approach him first because that automatically makes him feel like he no longer is the one guiding the interaction. so if someone were to approach him and start flirting or teasing he would probably not like it very much and try to leave the situation lol. orlam prefers to be the one to make advances if he likes someone rather than the other way around hahaha

this is also part of why he tries to lie and boast about himself i think 🤔 it gives him a way to feel like he's controlling the conversation in a way that makes him feel good about himself. and it's also why every time in game if you have iggy call him out on one of his lies he gets annoyed (and iggy only gets affection points with him if he doesn't say anything about the lies even if he knows they're lies LOL) not saying at all that this is a good thing, but just that that is generally how orlam operates lkajdsfasd

yknow as much as the (deserved) inazuma backlash has clearly changed hoyos writing for the better i do think there v much is one completely wrong lesson theyve taken from it and thats incorporating story quests into the AQ sequence (and specifically how theyve never attempted it again)

the concept itself was Never inherently bad. in fact it unironically has a ton of potential bc you could lessen the need for sudden character specific exposition in the AQ AND pull off way more high-stakes and timeline-specific plotlines in the SQs by ensuring players will experience it at the intended place and time.

the issue was that they introduced a bleak depressing inazuma in the middle of a fucking civil war and then went omg AQ on pause!!! lets go to a festival with ayaka and u will be her first friend ever OwO yoimiyas is at least vastly better written and actually involves the VH and sakoku decrees so its always been a favorite of mine but even then im sure theres things worth criticism in there its just been 2 years so i cant analyze it off the top of my head. but the greatest offender has always been the way ayakas comes with such a complete tonal dissonance it just takes you out of the atmosphere they spent the entire act I building up.

and it rly makes me sad bc i Know hoyo took the backlash about interrupted pacing and disjointed tone as "ok story quests bad as AQ requirements" when its like. no the one you wrote just sucked

AQ incorporated story quests need to have a damn good reason to be mandatory at that specific point and while its far from perfect i DO think yoimiyas fulfills that! but ayakas doesnt! at all! and like im realizing the issue is also in how genshins made it a standard that a character must receive a story quest Instantly on release. so i guess ayakas had to be in between acts I and II for plot reasons but like. that being the case then the story quest itself shouldve focused on a completely different theme as opposed to her very predictable tropey personal problems that werent even explored properly imo. like im sure plenty of depth and nuance in her characterization was lost in translation but i almost cry laughed the first time the restaurant vendor went "oh ayaka is lonely because she is so perfect that no one sees her as a friend but instead an aspiration" like what in the 3rd grader writing mary sue self insert fic tarnation 💀 you couldve worded that exact same concept in 12 different ways to make it actually sound poignant and you did That SHAHSKSJSKDLJH

(and a quick addition before i get accused of being a blind hater hater lmao. here goes: "the burdens of miss ayakas position as the public face of the kamisato make it difficult for her to shed the mask of practiced perfection. i think people struggle to see her as a person whod enjoy simple things in life like friendship just like everyone else when theyre so used to viewing her as an unreachable figurehead." there. now its way more clearly nuanced. this took me 3 minutes and is far from any fluid writing yet. the difference is staggering)

but like. as a result this ambiguous timeline limbo most story quests end up falling into is genuinely a shame bc i do think theres potential in attempting the ayaka n yoi thing again but with characters for whom it makes sense and actually enhances the AQ experience by necessitating it. and yeah yeah ik genshin wants to be casual friendly so they dont want to force ppl to do quests they dont like for AQ so its unrealistic to expect them to ever try it out again but man

as long as they pick the right place and time and characters for it they could massively alleviate the issue of some story quests contents ending up feeling like somewhat empty fluff bc they cant assume what point a player will be in the main plot could be so they lack actually impactful lore and or character beats.

obviously im not a writer at hoyo and idk how much backlash the ayaya/yoi situation got them but like. idk. taking the lesson "never do anything like inazuma again" isnt rly what id consider the full picture. inazuma does suck and has clunky moments throughout but like in 2.0 people were still hype! inazuma had good ideas and concepts and attempted sth that couldve been great the issue isnt inazuma bad on all levels its that they never delivered its potential and 2.1 was an incredible letdown.
