Dead on main teacher/single parent au? If you're still doing them :D
Hi there! Sure am! You're the only one who's sent one so far lol.
Alright, Dead on Main, parent/teacher huh?
Update: I started writing this when you sent it, but got busy and forgot to finish it, this is what I have so far! Anyone can add to this if they want!
Danny sighed as he rubbed a hand over his face, walking into the building, always uneasy in school buildings after usual school hours, call it trauma or old instincts but he'd never gotten comfortable in them.
But Dante had gotten into a fight during English and Ellie had jumped in to help, so the teacher had left him a voice message asking him to come by the school.
"Hi, Professor Todd?"
Danny poked his head in the room with the correct door number he'd been provided to go to. Dante and Ellie looked up at him and grinned at him unrepentantly.
Well, Ellie did, Dante just looked unrepentant, chin jutted out, but both of them had their heads raised defiantly, shoulders set, even as Dante had a bruise peeking out from under an ice pack on his cheek, and Ellie had the tell tail signs of a nose having been bloodied and a split lip that was already, to his keen sight at least, starting to heal.
"Hi mom.""sup mom." Dante and Ellie greeted.
The snort of amusement from behind the desk drew Danny's gaze from his wonderful, amazing, chaotic neverborn children to the teacher behind the desk finally. He wasn't going to say that the man wasn't a sight worth a 20 year voyage, but he kept himself composed other than a sheepish grin.
"Mr. Fenton I'm guessing?" Professor Todd motioned to the chair between the two kids before offering his hand to shake.
"Dr, actually, but yeah that's me. Just call me Danny, please, professor." He took the offered hand and gave it a firm shake, noticing the callouses not often found on academics but not minding it.
"Just call me Jason then. I presume you heard the message then. Since then we've had a few more updates about Dante and Ellie's fight and while they will still be being suspended for the way the fight ended up going," Jason started, a file in front of him being opened and a set of papers with various notes on then in it becoming visible. "But they will not be the only ones."
"Damn right we aren't! They were hateful biggots and I regret nothing!" Ellie cheered, fist pumping in the air as she did so.
On his other side, Dante snorted but grinned in a feral way Danny recognised as very much his own, "I only regret not punching harder."
The sigh let out by both Jason and Danny at that had a snicker and a grin gotten in response from Ellie and Dante.
"Right, be that as it may, your determination to protect your classmates from discrimination is admirable, as is stepping in when you did. But please, next time just come get me or another instructor or adult." Jason's request was met with a nod and a grumbled agreement.
#dpxdc#dead on main#Danny x Jason#parent teacher conference au#Jason works as a teacher as a cover or something#Dan and Dani are adopted by Danny#Dan goes by Dante and Dani goes by Ellie#they use the trans Danny being their mom thing to cover up the clone/from future thing#adding in a note here for clarification:#the mom thing is not always misgendering if it is allowed by the person being called it#if you're ever ok with jokes about cis men being called mom by their kids(like batman ones I've seen) then this should be no different#sometimes kids-when in healthy raising environments-will do this sort of thing#mess around with the titles their parents use#tbh thinking of what i had in mind when writing this Dante and Ellie would use both dad and mom and even renny and other ones on a whim#if it fit at the time and/or was funny they'd do it#but just a final gentle reminder that the author is trans and writes own stuff into writing a lot

Hey,
Ask your writer friend about how her book is coming along. Ask her to tell you about it. Be excited about it. Listen when she talks about it. Encourage her to keep writing.
Writing is one of the hardest arts to share with friends because reading a book is a big time commitment, so you have to ask or she’ll think no one cares and stop trying.
You gotta ask.

These excerpts are from Damien Hagen’s “Regeneration and trans possibility in Doctor Who,” which was published in the most recent issue of Transformative Works and Cultures, OTW’s open access journal. It’s free to read… here (click the button that says HTML)!
Here’s what the editors of the issue had to say:
“Damien Hagen focuses on Doctor Who fandom and the way in which the Doctor's regenerative capacity provides the means for queer and trans fans to explore trans possibilities and gender euphoria. Long before the Doctor's ability to change genders became canon in Doctor Who in 2018 with Jodie Whittaker's Doctor, trans fans have been drawn to the series for its emphasis on changeability, malleability, and bodily fluidity. Through an autoethnographic lens, Hagen argues that Doctor Who can be read as a trans media object—one that is not necessarily explicitly transgender but instead opens up gendered possibilities in which trans fans can imagine otherwise. Hagen further draws on other trans fans' queer and trans readings of a variety of canonical moments in Doctor Who to argue that the ephemerality and liminality of the series can be particularly pleasurable and gender affirming for trans and nonbinary fans who are undertaking their own processes of regeneration. While the series might never have been intended as a trans narrative, Hagen argues that through fannish interpretations and queer readings, it has the potential to provide a mechanism for survival, self-love, and gender euphoria.”
In the plainest terms, Hagen discusses his own/other trans fans’ experiences with Doctor Who as a tool to understand and love their transness. Themes of the show that trans people may relate to include:
Emphasis on change as a good thing (and lifesaving).
Carrying previous selves into the future, loving previous bodies and selves.
The specific experience of ‘creating’ a new body (the Doctor’s ability to regenerate), acceptance of/excitement about those bodies from oneself/others.
Doctor Who, Hagen argues, is a “trans media object,” or a piece of media that may not have explicitly trans characters but allows viewers to see transness reflected in other ways. For instance, when the Doctor and other characters accept their new body, it can feel affirming to a trans viewer who is also navigating the experience of a changing body. Hagen writes, “The regenerations weren't about gender, but my nascent transness felt them as such.”
Do you have a similar experience with Doctor Who? Or are there other media you have felt similarly about?

Hey, it's been a bit since we've heard from you guys! Hopefully things are going much better for you both? I hope so, but Pokemon Masters EX is releasing sygna suits for the twins! Have you guys seen? What do you guys think? If not, I just wanted to let you both know.
Hello!! Sorry for the lack of updates...
We actually decided to take a break from the coding and implementation side of things until Stardew stabilizes. 1.6 has been a bit of a pain and I kept getting discouraged having to go back and fix things because of all the update patches... It was frustrating trying to make progress only to learn that I would have to go back and redo things.
The content in 1.6 is set to release November 4th, but from the beta of 1.6.9, I've heard that there's quite a few mod-breaking changes that I'll need to look into... later. I'm sure there will be more patches once mobile/console players can explore the new content (and report more bugs...). So... mod progress is on an indefinite pause while we wait for the game to be stable (and also get the motivation to work on it back... the thought of having to refamiliarize myself with the modding changes and fixing the broken content kills that a lot.)
In the meantime- we're still very much excited for new submas content!! I love their fancy new outfits... We're especially excited for new stories and dialogue to reference when writing them in more mod content!!
▷ Station Steward Thylak
#mail car connecting line#Still in our burnout era... curse you 1.6#Slight change of plans but the next focus would be to get Emmet's 10 heart event done#After fixing things... I think we have enough content for an unfinished beta of sorts#But well... that requires Stardew to settle down#Chandelure is trans in the mod confirmed (pokemas has Ingo's chandelure as male)#I ALSO HAVE ONLY ONE JOB NOW YAYYY#Work and life is still keeping me busy but I actually have time to do creative stuff again#Kade recently moved out too!! Still needs furniture but well... it works#so many mod authors gave up after 1.6 haha#apparently 1.6.9 is a mess

its so difficult to watch people go on about news on the hp show like its a neutral thing to report, like its not going to actively make a significant amount of my loved ones lives more of a hell than it already is in the uk, and when you point this out youre the insane one, but i think actually we should be fucking annoying and point it out on every post there is about this in ostensibly ""queer friendly spaces""
I remember that post that was like stop talking abt jkr im sick of hearing abt her shit (which is fair) but the problem is that if we dont people have even more reason to pretend that its neutral to hype up casting news and speculate on adaptational choices like it doesnt feed into the ongoing erosion of peoples rights im not sure how i can express how fucking dire it is in the uk and how right wing parties (the US, my country!) are looking to their success for strategies
you people couldnt even boycott chickfila etc etc etc
#the over-active spleen#not abt anyone i follow i lurk a lot of fan adjacent blogs for news#people i know are getting spat on in the street for being visibly trans women i actually think you have a responsibility#to not engage with the works of this author and to take a stand is the bare minimum bc it has ZERO risk#it has ZERO RISK! and yet you cant do it"#how am i supposed to not fear for my friends when it becomes worse?#i have a friend who cant even piss at her job anymore bc they have decided to already act on the supreme court decision preemptively#its like yeah thats the problem but shes funding it and if i dont see you actually out there defending trans womens rights to exist#you dont get to say that we shouldnt talk abt jkr bc there are bigger issues#i agree there are bigger issues but its also zero risk and zero effort to not fucking talk about this shit and to tell other people why you#wont be talking abt it watching etc

its interesting to me that the common sentiment appears to be that han sooyoung intended for jang hayoung to be trans. I think there's room for multiple interpretations, but I view being trans in orv as being inherently tied to the themes of self-actualization, as well as the idea that a narrative is unable to be fully defined by either author or reader. put more simply, jang hayoung is trans regardless of either kim dokja OR han sooyoung's intentions in creating her, or in how they each interpreted her. maybe the version of her in the novel was meant to be something else, but in the reality of this world, she is a trans girl. han sooyoung's intentions kind of don't matter there because the text has moved beyond its author
#narrates#orv#orv spoilers#i guess its like. its not Incorrect that kim dokja misinterprets her (this is a major part of their interactions obviously)#but the assumption seems to be that hes misinterpreted her all along and she was supposed to be trans. which. eh?#again i can see it but i like this reading a lot more#when i discuss characters paralleling kim dokja in some way it is always fully independent of my considering of hsys authorship btw#thats interesting for me to consider separately but i tend to just. enjoy parallels as parallels#as fun as it is to think about how hsys writing choices characterize her. i really like how deeply orv is influenced by death of the author#again it just feels more thematically appropriate to consider orv as a work created in a specific real world context#then to speculate on how writing comes from an author. as interesting as orv's in-text author legitimately is

In lieu of Stuff Your Kindle day, can we talk about the issue of how the m/m genre of books, romance or not, is almost entirely dominated by women? Can we talk about how the most recognisable gay couples in media are written by women? Can we talk about how queer men can't even write about ourselves, how we are only allowed to exist when it's from the point of view of a straight woman sexualising us?
Can we talk about that? Or am I going to get called misogynistic for pointing out the disparity between who gets the writing deals, & who gets their books turned into movies, & whose shit gets popular versus whose doesn't? Can we talk about how m/m fiction is only allowed when it appeals to a cishet gaze, or is that too much for tumblr to take?
Can we also talk about how trans queer men are even more hated by publishing? Can we talk about how we get shit from both sides? Can we talk about how books about the experiences of being a queer man, written by queer men, never get the same recognition as books written by women on this subject (barring academia which has its own problems)?
Can we talk about that? Can we?
#booker speaks#no bloody clue how to tag this#this is for the tags only but#people would get up in arms if the f/f book scene was dominated by cismen only#why are we not extending this same energy to ciswomen writers of m/m?#why did we forget about the original meaning of own voices?#why are queer men pushed out of publishing in the way that we are?#& im not just talking about romance here#like there are fantasy & scifi & contemporary novels about men loving men that are written by ciswomen who have a very narrow view of what#m/m relationships are like. & this extends towards stuff like manga too but im not gonna get into that cause i dont read mangs/comics#can we talk about how hard it is to find queer masc authors nowadays?#saying this both as a reader & as a writer#can we also talk about how lists of queer & especially trans novels almost always forget to include anything by transmascs & gay transmascs#or if they do include us its 1 transmasc book to 1 enby book to 8 transfem books or books about the 'trans experience' in nebulous terms#can we stop reccing detransition baby & start reccing the spirit bares its teeth?#can we look at works written by queer masc people that arent just red white royal blue & stone butch blues?#go read cemetary boys#read alexis hall & max turner#read bloom if you like comics. or nimona#read my shit too!#im gonna be focusing on my writing blog way more this year#& im working on some projects that may or may not end up being published in physical form#read more queer masc stories by queer masc authors!

God grant me the strength not to reply “there are other books you could read and other films you could watch. Hope this helps 🤞” to all the HP fans whinging about JKR’s latest tirade, specifically because of how it affects their enjoyment of the franchise
#just to say like.. i get having mixed feelings and going through the denial-anger-bargaining of ‘death of the author’#and ‘well daniel radcliffe and emma watson support trans people so i’m supporting them and not her when i stream the movies’#but most of us had that realisation that her views were incompatible with ours and we didn’t want to give her money 5+ years ago#and most of us moved on to different obsessions#how many times can you reread the same 7 books and rewatch the same 8 movies? and what has even come out since then?#everyone hated the cursed child and fantastic beasts has got fucking johnny depp in it so i don’t even want to see that#what are you all even doing i’m sorry#if this is your favourite work of fiction please i am BEGGING you to branch out#i’m giving you permission to pirate stuff if that’s what it takes#she didn’t even come up with the concept of a magical school! she doesn’t have a monopoly over that concept!#wizard of earthsea; scholomance… fucking fourth wing basically did the same thing#hell read rainbow rowell’s carry on trilogy if you want harry potter slightly to the left#just stop giving money to a woman who is funnelling it into every far right movement that gives her the time of day#WHAT IS THE REASON. please help me understand#like i get being obsessed with something for a long period of time; believe me i do#i just feel like if the authors of any of my childhood obsessions like death note or skulduggery pleasant became the richest transphobe#in the country.. i mean bare minimum i would stop giving them money and consuming their new works. like#personal

i have the immense privilege of knowing quite a few cis women in positions of power & influence, and I'm... cautiously optimistic about things in the long-run. Gonna be painful and shite in the short-term. but i promise i PROMISE there are amazing people doing cool shit and changing minds and building networks and upskilling others to pass on the learning - they're just... not in the media. for obvious reasons.
pls seek out networks / community / events - generally just keep in touch with people in a way that nourishes you.
keeping informed of current events is optional. disconnect from the news cycle if it's making you feel worse. YOU ARE ALLOWED TO TAKE A BREAK (human beings, remember? we need breaks) and you can trust yourself that it won't be permanent. There are people who have actual paid jobs to stay abreast of these things and filter that info.
#if you need permission - i am explicitly giving you permission to take a break. days weeks months whatever you need.#if you feel like it needs to come from someone with some kind of authority: i've been doing direct action & community work since i was 9#i'm the elected chair of the board for an org with... well i won't disclose how many employees. more than 5 less than 15.#and during/after my last overt hatecrime i reached out to the groupchat of local trans folks for support and it made a world of difference#(in real life i have very little authority but. y'know. whatever helps)

Title: Dewdrops Tits
Summary:
Dew often sleeps shirtless when he's on his own, he tends to run hot since he became a fire ghoul. He wouldn't dream of parading around bare chested like the other guys did, but in the privacy of his own room his tits didn't bother him. Small and unobtrusive as they were he had opted not go with top-surgery. For one the recovery time wouldn't align with Ghosts touring schedule, and with all the layers they wore on stage it wasn't like anybody could notice his chest anyway.
or
Dewdrop sleeps shirtless, and in his drowsy morning state he forgets to cover up his chest before heading to the kitchen where all his packmates are already enjoying breakfast.

You should read Kimberlé Crenshaw. You should read Iris Marion Young. You should read bell hooks. You should read Kate Borenstein. You should read Angela Davis. You should read S. Bear Bergman. Ivan Coyote. Jack Halberstam. Leslie Feinberg. You should read Audre Lorde and Judith Butler. Miss Major and Sylvia Rivera and Marsha P. Johnson. Yes it is a lot of work. No I have not read them all myself either. Yes it is essential. I see people naming them all the time on here only to terribly misunderstand or undercut or tokenize them. If we are going to talk about feminisms we have an obligation to read feminists. Listen to their speeches and interviews. People have spent decades before us laying groundwork definitions and concepts. We do not have to accept them as they are but to do that work to accept, reject, or modify these theories and definitions and ideas, but we do have to actually take the time to read them ourselves and not just commentary on them, or excerpts or simplified summaries, whether that's in books or online.
#To be terribly blunt this is a list of reading which I believe is essential to supplement Whipping Girl#Now that I've finished reading it#We need to read Crenshaw on intersectionality. Young on forms of oppression.#Fricker on epistemic injustice. Borenstein and Stryker for history.#Black revolutionary women both cis and trans—try the Combahee River Collective for a start.#Transmasculine and butch theorists like Halberstam and Butler and Preciado#Transfeminine authors and activists like Miss Major and Sylvia and Marsha—not just biographies but what they themselves wrote.#I'll be reading also The Women's House of Detention by Hugh Ryan about imprisoned lesbians/transmascs and Stonewall#Beth Elliot and Sandy Stone as well—both have written fantastic refutations of radical feminism in the 80s and before#you probably should read some Foucault as well if you get the chance tbh because he's pretty foundational#this is not an endorsement of all of these authors nor what they have written#i have not read all of these pieces that i am recommending and recognize that maybe doing so is a bad idea#but more than anything i am trying to share what kinds of pieces of writing and work are out there#that Whipping Girl is in conversation with and which are in conversation in turn#also read more of Serano's later work and commentary on Whipping Girl including the afterword to e3 and such#just as you should read early Butler and then read later Butler's commentary on their adjustments to it#hell go and read Karen Barad if you want a feminist quantum/theoretical physicist's theories on gender and materialism#if someone reminds me to come back to this I will add more specific title-based recommendations possibly with PDFs or links#it's also important to read gender studies and work on masculinity theory—otherwise we acquiesce to the idea that ''man'' is not a gender#and that ''gender'' is something which only women and trans* folks experience and manhood/masculinity is a neutral or given#i am doing my best to log off of the discourse here and turn attention more to community and theory in tandem#all of my suggestions are also all anglo-centric and i desperately welcome non-anglo and decolonial/anticolonial recommendations#and while i've recommended theorists here it's also important to know about the gaps between feminist theory and feminist activism#and the different camps and circles and discussions and disagreements that can and have appeared
