I think about the article "Don't Call Me Mister You Fucking Beast" from 1972 a lot. It was written by Transvestite, Transsexual and Drag Queen group of the Gay Liberation Front, the British organization. Among its authors was Roz Kaveney and Rachel Pollack. in fact I discovered the text by reading Kaveney's obituary about Pollack, where Kaveney says Pollack was the major mind behind their manifesto.
Now "Don't Call me mister" is a fascinating and important text in general, and a part of trans history. The Gay Liberation Front is often remembered as a cis gay organization, but the fact was that trans people were a part of it, especially transfems. As the article mentions, their group didn't have transmasc members at the time, it was all people we today would describe as transfem. Contrary to some claims in the transmisogynistic British press, transfems were a part of the modern UK queer liberation movement from its beginnings.
Also transvestites and transsexuals were organized together. There is no "medicalism", distinctions are made between those on hrt, those who want it but don't have it yet (in large part due to medical gatekeeping) and those who don't want it, but it isn't treated as important. The claim of "mere" transvestites to be women is treated as valid. The text openly speaks of "transvestite, transsexual and drag-queen women."
The writers also see their struggle as women as part of the broader feminist wave going on at the time. "Think how much more inspiring and beautiful the women's revolution will be when it joyously includes all women." The text in many ways anticipates the concept of intersectionality.
The discussion of passing too is complex, and defends wanting to pass from the young who are "quick to say be militant, don't hide." because the reality is "if you pass you're treated as a human being, if you don't you're treated as a pervert or a roadshow." But the text also notes "Yet there are also thrills to not passing, or more precisely, not caring if you pass." and defends that as well. And the text notes that not all of them conform to feminine stereotypes and that there are butch transfems among them.
I was most recently reminded of this article due to the recent f1nnster discourse, because the article discusses that question as well. "Why is Danny La Rue [a popular drag artist of the time] a West End institution, when we get kicked out of our flats for wearing a skirt? Apparently it's all right if you're doing it for money, but perverted if you do it for personal satisfaction." And that about sums up the divide between men who crossdress as part of a show, and ordinary transsexual women and transvestites even today. Crossdressing as a gag or part of a show has always been more accepted than crossdressing for personal reasons, or transitioning.
The values of the text holds up well overall, and reveals that the "old-school transsexuals" of the 70s often had similar views about medical gatekeeping and passing that young trans people today often have.

Letterless preview pages for Marvel Voices: Pride a.k.a. X-Men: The Wedding Special have been posted.
Main Wedding Story by Kieron Gillen, art by Rachael Stott
Betsy Braddock/Rachel Summers story by Tini Howard, art by Phillip Sevy
Wolverine + crew story by Tate Brombal, art by Emilio Pilliu
Rogue/Gambit story by Wyatt Kennedy, art by Jenn St. Onge
Emma Frost Pre-marriage counseling story by Yoon Ha Lee, art by Stephen Byrne
source here
Personal thoughts:
I gotta say, I'm still feeling incredibly ambivalent about this book.
I mean, a Mystique/Destiny wedding is great! Ya love to see it and its long overdue, but I think this would've been better served as a one-shot alongside the main pride story this rather, rather than in place of it.
Most of these stories sound really fun, like for example: a Rogue/Gambit side story involving a wedding band mishap! That sounds hilarious!
But, for a Pride-centric issue, its really lacking in the Pride department. No one outside of the x-books this year, and even the x-couples are lacking!
I mean, to name a few: Northstar and Kyle, Rictor and Shatterstar, Iceman and whoever he's dating right now (lol), Cerebella and Escapade, Akihiro and Aurora (he's still bi, straight-passing relationship or not), the list goes on!
I don't know, I'm just frustrated. The stories themselves seem fine, its just the branding/packaging that's rubbing me the wrong way, if that makes sense.
Except the Wolverine story. We literally have a confirmed/canon queer member of the snikt fam (who, at bare minimum, has had a flirtation with Mystique as well), and he's still ded :(
Like, if they wanted a Wolverine-centric story, why not have Gabby finally explore her sapphic feelings for that girl on the bus? Let her have a little heart-to-heart with Akihiro, drag Logan to a Pride parade (then, he accidently gets roped into a side quest involving a group of short trans-mascs, ending with Logan buying them a round of beers). My point is, there are ways to add your money-maker character into stories while still respecting your target audience.
I don't know. My feelings are complicated.

I'm sorry but if u make art of Rachael Lindt and u don't make her trans, u will not see the kingdom of heaven. that is real and true and factual I fear.
also if u think "make her trans" means "draw an otherwise cisfem body but put a bulge in her pants" u are guaranteed to see hell.

text from link:
On October 16th, “detransitioned” anti-trans-healthcare zealot, Chole Cole spoke at the Iowa Memorial Union as part of a nationwide wave of transphobic speakers at universities. Despite more than a hundred counter protestors marching in the street outside the IMU, police only targeted trans people for arrest. Six of those facing charges received their arrests a month after the protest and another protester two months post event. Since the Johnson County attorney decided to prosecute the “JoCo7” a city councilor, county supervisor, and the Iowa City Human Rights Commission have described the nature of the charges as discriminatory and authoritarian. We are clearly facing an infringement of our First Amendment rights to Assembly and Free Speech. We endorse the Human Rights Commission’s findings and call on county attorney Rachael Zimmerman to drop these charges!

im so horny lately and ultimately want and need love with someone whos not weird about my pussy and hasnt spent more than a few days projecting onto me
and i kind of rly got over the trans panic its so culturally charged and its giving human-android separation and ive spent so much time in anticipation of falling into the uncanny vally but actually androids are human just different.
i think the concept of beauty and its connection with realness/authenticity is the poison of our time. that obsession makes us not only feel inauthentic as women but also ugly
but like at the end of the day thats simply not true. we literally arent uglier by default or maybe i should say we arent less real by default
im just like Rachael for real

List of Every Brandon Rogers Characters Ever
Tumblr media
I don’t know why I did this. It took 4 hours. I haven’t seen ever Brandon Rogers video (shocking, I know) so some are missing. I purposely didn’t add any parody characters (the Kardashians, Annabell, M3GAN etc), but if you notice any BRCU characters missing, please comment so I can add them.
And obviously the characters not credited are played by Brandon Rogers.
David July is credited as David Burton on this list. I’m not sure when they changed their name, as they are credited as both on Brandon’s videos.
I can’t remember who Debbie and Doyle are but I must of put them on this list for a reason

No one was credited in this video and most were personal friends of Brandon’s and not content creators so are nearly impossible to find. I had to stalk Brandon’s Insta to find these people.
BTW, Bazil (who plays Cheshire Cat) is a trans man who goes by he/him. Just letting people know because people are misgendering him and I assume it’s because they don’t know his pronouns.

Thank you for your time, Rachael

last book i...
thank you @bonheur-cafe for the tag! I'm really trying to get back into reading books more, I'm lacking this year.
bought: house of hunger - alexis henderson
what can I say? lesbian vampires. that's all you need to say and I'll buy it.
borrowed: into the drowning deep - mira grant
this is the latest request from the library, as to not repeat books on this list.
was gifted: she gets the girl - rachael lippincott, alyson derrick
my sister gave me a signed copy of this book for my birthday last year, I really love this book, and I think it's a very soft, beautiful must read for any sapphic out there. I'm not a huge romance reader and loved this.
gave/lent to someone: the ballad of songbirds and snakes - suzanne collins
I don't lend books out a lot, I think I let my sister borrow it, then she never read it and gave it back lol
started: wolfsong - tj klune
I just started this and was influenced by a certain someone *wink wink*, I've only read a couple chapters but really enjoying it!
finished: a short history of queer women - kirsty loehr
ugh this book. i was told every lesbian needs to read this book. I read it. and was greatly disappointed. the information was decent, but it was written in a very millennial humor style and it was cringe. this book failed to discuss trans or poc in queer history, we'd be nowhere in the queer community without poc trans women so I take a lot of issue with that. let's just say I forced myself to finish it and didn't give a nice rating.
gave 5 stars: we have always been here: a queer muslim memoir - samra habib
now this book, i loved. I've been on a nonfiction kick this year which is not usual for me. this is really a beautiful book and I think every person ever should read it.
gave 2 stars: the housemaid's secret - freida mcfadden
this book was just horrendous, a generous two stars honestly. it was a sequel and I didn't love the first one I don't know why I even read this one, the plot twist is incredibly predictable and almost a carbon copy of the first book with new characters.
didn't finish: one last stop - casey mcquiston.
please don't attack. i just really don't think contemporary romances are for me, I just didn't care enough
I really don't know who here reads books but no pressure tagging some people I feel like I've seen post about books before?:
@captain-gillian @your-catfish-friend @carlos-tk @pt-soulmate @welcometololaland @chicgeekgirl89 + open tag!

Rachel oats be like:
Rachael oats: mental health awareness is soooo important, we should NEVER share others mental health struggles without permission. 🥺
Also Rachel oats: * doxxed member of trans mental health support group putting their private mental health struggles out there knowing her audience would attack them because they made her upsetty *
Ppl were understandable calling her out on why that's disgusting behavior and how she needs to apologize for the damage she did towards this person's mental health.
Rachel oats: * starts falsely reporting people * BUT WHAT ABOUT MY MENTAL HEALTH?!
{ there's literal a whole playlist of terrible things she did against the trans community if you wanna see it just comment and I'll link it to you }

7 Stories for Genderfluid Visibility Week!
Tumblr media
This week is Genderfluid Visibility Week, so the Duck Prints Press rec list contributors present: 7 of our favorite stories with genderfluid characters! Note that, in a lot of settings, it wouldn’t make sense for these characters to label themselves with the words we use now, so it can be challenging to identify characters who are genderfluid. For several of the characters on this list, their gender identities are open to interpretation, and while the Press contributors who suggested these books have interpreted them as genderfluid, it would also be valid to interpret these characters as (for example) non-binary or trans. If you read these books and didn’t feel the character was genderfluid – we support you! But they spoke to us as examples of genderfluid characters, and so we’ve included them.
-
Dreams Bigger than Heartbreak by Charlie Jane Anders
They’ll do anything to be the people they were meant to be — even journey into the heart of evil.
Rachael Townsend is the first artist ever to leave Earth and journey out into the galaxy — but after an encounter with an alien artifact, she can’t make art at all.
Elza Monteiro is determined to be the first human to venture inside the Palace of Scented Tears and compete for the chance to become a princess — except that inside the palace, she finds the last person she ever wanted to see again.
Tina Mains is studying at the Royal Space Academy with her friends, but she’s not the badass space hero everyone was expecting.
Soon Rachael is journeying into a dark void, Elza is on a deadly spy mission, and Tina is facing an impossible choice that could change all her friends lives forever.
-
Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman
In Norse Mythology, Gaiman stays true to the myths in envisioning the major Norse pantheon: Odin, the highest of the high, wise, daring, and cunning; Thor, Odin’s son, incredibly strong yet not the wisest of gods; and Loki–son of a giant–blood brother to Odin and a trickster and unsurpassable manipulator.
Gaiman fashions these primeval stories into a novelistic arc that begins with the genesis of the legendary nine worlds and delves into the exploits of deities, dwarfs, and giants. Once, when Thor’s hammer is stolen, Thor must disguise himself as a woman–difficult with his beard and huge appetite–to steal it back. More poignant is the tale in which the blood of Kvasir – the most sagacious of gods – is turned into a mead that infuses drinkers with poetry. The work culminates in Ragnarok, the twilight of the gods and rebirth of a new time and people.
Through Gaiman’s deft and witty prose emerge these gods with their fiercely competitive natures, their susceptibility to being duped and to duping others, and their tendency to let passion ignite their actions, making these long-ago myths breathe pungent life again.
-
Heaven Official’s Blessing by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu
A GOD FALLEN, A GHOST RISEN
Born the crown prince of a prosperous kingdom, Xie Lian was renowned for his beauty, strength, and purity. His years of dedicated study and noble deeds allowed him to ascend to godhood. But those who rise may also fall, and fall he does–cast from the heavens and banished to the world below.
Eight hundred years after his mortal life, Xie Lian has ascended to godhood for the third time, angering most of the gods in the process. To repay his debts, he is sent to the Mortal Realm to hunt down violent ghosts and troublemaking spirits who prey on the living. Along his travels, he meets the fascinating and brilliant San Lang, a young man with whom he feels an instant connection. Yet San Lang is clearly more than he appears… What mysteries lie behind that carefree smile?
-
She Wears the Midnight Crown, an anthology of sapphic masquerade stories, specifically “Are you in love with the squid?” by D. A. Hernández
She Wears the Midnight Crown features 17 stories of wlw characters exploring their relationships as they develop, grow, and change during (literal or figurative) masquerades! Our contributors have stretched their imaginations to present innovative stories exploring what a masquerade can be…and, of course, tell rich, engaging tales of wonderful queer folk finding love, companionship, acceptance, the queer platonic relationship of their dreams, or the found family they deserve. The collected works feature characters in all the colors of the Pride rainbow, queer and genderqueer, and these diverse individuals inhabit worlds ranging from science fiction settings where everyone must be masked to breathe, to fantasies where no one wears a literal mask but everyone shows the world a false guise, to iterations of the real world where some people lean into deception.
-
Rust in the Root by Justina Ireland
It is 1937, and Laura Ann Langston lives in an America divided—between those who work the mystical arts and those who do not. Ever since the Great Rust, a catastrophic event that blighted the arcane force called the Dynamism and threw America into disarray, the country has been rebuilding for a better future. And everyone knows the future is industry and technology—otherwise known as Mechomancy—not the traditional mystical arts.
Laura disagrees. A talented young mage from Pennsylvania, Laura hopped a portal to New York City on her seventeenth birthday with hopes of earning her mage’s license and becoming something more than a rootworker.
But four months later, she’s got little to show for it other than an empty pocket and broken dreams. With nowhere else to turn, Laura applies for a job with the Bureau of the Arcane’s Conservation Corps, a branch of the US government dedicated to repairing the Dynamism so that Mechomancy can thrive. There she meets the Skylark, a powerful mage with a mysterious past, who reluctantly takes Laura on as an apprentice.
As they’re sent off on their first mission together into the heart of the country’s oldest and most mysterious Blight, they discover the work of mages not encountered since the darkest period in America’s past, when Black mages were killed for their power—work that could threaten Laura’s and the Skylark’s lives, and everything they’ve worked for.
