Really hope we get more Laura in NYX #6…

Honestly…while I do like Kamala and get that this was an EDITORIALLY MANDATED Ms Marvel team book… I don’t LOVE the “Kitty Pryde/Fish out of Water” aspects… and frankly I think Anole/Prodigy/Laura have more interesting character beats as senior X-Men than Kamala…

Marvel TRIED to copy Kitty’s success with Jubilee, Pixie, Armor, Blink, ect… and it’s in my opinion never worked…Jubilee was the closest character that was successful, and even Jubes struggled depending on the X-era to be consistently featured…

Local could definitely be a reoccurring X-23 character if they just developed him more…but I’m kind of worried he’s going to go the same route Dante is kind of going (pointlessly there).

I'm a little surprised Pixie got to be a co-protagonist of a Pride story and didn't have her sexuality labelled, but I'm choosing to headcanon her as biromantic asexual after this. She was explicitly bi in the AU story of Secret Wars Runaways and then almost kissed Nico in 616's Runaways and she also fails to read sexual subtext twice in this story and that is a #mood to me.

Also, uh, i don't think there's any aspec rep in the Pride special if this doesn't count, so let me have this plz.

A short story of Wolverine and the X-Kids (Bling, Pixie, Indra and Anole)

Pixie, Bling and Indra are coming up with crazy ideas on getting a gift for Mystique and Destiny. Meanwhile, Anole and Wolverine are hesitant about the idea of giving a gift and celebrating the wedding as they know Mystique more than the others. Also, Wolverine is a reluctant chaperone.

Personal thoughts:

I gotta say, I'm still feeling incredibly ambivalent about this book.

I mean, a Mystique/Destiny wedding is great! Ya love to see it and its long overdue, but I think this would've been better served as a one-shot alongside the main pride story this rather, rather than in place of it.

Most of these stories sound really fun, like for example: a Rogue/Gambit side story involving a wedding band mishap! That sounds hilarious!

But, for a Pride-centric issue, its really lacking in the Pride department. No one outside of the x-books this year, and even the x-couples are lacking!

I mean, to name a few: Northstar and Kyle, Rictor and Shatterstar, Iceman and whoever he's dating right now (lol), Cerebella and Escapade, Akihiro and Aurora (he's still bi, straight-passing relationship or not), the list goes on!

I don't know, I'm just frustrated. The stories themselves seem fine, its just the branding/packaging that's rubbing me the wrong way, if that makes sense.

Except the Wolverine story. We literally have a confirmed/canon queer member of the snikt fam (who, at bare minimum, has had a flirtation with Mystique as well), and he's still ded :(

Like, if they wanted a Wolverine-centric story, why not have Gabby finally explore her sapphic feelings for that girl on the bus? Let her have a little heart-to-heart with Akihiro, drag Logan to a Pride parade (then, he accidently gets roped into a side quest involving a group of short trans-mascs, ending with Logan buying them a round of beers). My point is, there are ways to add your money-maker character into stories while still respecting your target audience.

I don't know. My feelings are complicated.
