she holds you close at night when you sleep over, which you do more and more recently because you’re worried about her, and sniffles softly when she thinks you’re asleep. when the salty tears wake you by landing on your skin, you both know what’s going on but she hates to feel like she needs to be taken care of, so she just makes a joke about being a big slobbery mutt who can’t help herself but drool on you

If you really think about it, Tiresias suffered the most out of any other character from Epic: the musical/the Odyssey

First he was forced to live as a woman for 7 years, during which he married and had children. The reason for being forcefemmed? He saw two copulating snakes and struck them, thus pissing off Hera who turned him into a woman as punishment.

Of course, this isn't so bad. Still bad luck imo. Like imagine hitting two random snakes and boom! You're a woman.

Next, he got blinded by Athena because he saw her bathing. Athena, the virgin goddess, naturally didn't like this and took away his sight. Feeling bad for cursing him, she gave him the gift of prophecy.

Another myth, however, tells a differeny story. According to it, Tiresias was called by Zeus and Hera, who were in the middle of an argument. They were trying to decide who felt more pleasure during sex: the man (Hera's claim) or the woman (Zeus's claim).

Since Tiresias had lived as both, they decided to ask him to settle the debate. Tiresias answered the woman and that, of course, made Hera mad so she blinded him. Zeus could do nothing but compensate by giving him the gift of prophecy.

He died from being impaled by Apollo's arrow. As if that wasn't enough, he couldn't catch a break even after death. Our favourite captain just had to come and pester him for more prophecies (which he didn't even follow btw so thanks for making this dead man do extra work for nothing, you royal dipshit).

what I can't stop thinking about with Nimona is... the cannon. the cannon made to protect the citizens from monsters. the cannon the director aims AT the very citizens it's meant to protect. the cannon the director orders fired anyway, "to protect our way of life," even when it's clear to everyone that the threat no longer exists... because somehow this way of life (built on a lie! the monster never destroyed a town! the people did that themselves, and fearmongering did the rest!) is more important than the lives of the people she's supposed to uphold. what a metaphor

anyway. data startrek is trans coded because he's constantly being dehumanised and misgendered (called 'it') and told he can't possibly understand things that are supposedly inherent to the human (cis) condition and asked invasive questions about the way he works by complete strangers and talked about like he isn't standing right there and legally does not qualify as a person and is told even by his friends and coworkers and allies that no offence, data, you're a machine. he's also just transgender in general but that's not my point here

I hope we never learn what Crowley's name was before he fell. It seems so intentional that it was left out, and I love that choice. Because that's not his name. That's just the name God gave him. He chose the name Crowley. And that name represents who he is now. He's not that angel anymore. He's changed. You might even say he's transitioned to a different part of his existence.

I have a little pin on my badge that says she/he/they and it generally either goes unremarked or i get a 'hey cool pin' from a patient. More often if someone comments on it it's actually a familymember of the patient who tells me as an aside that they appreciate that i'm wearing it and it made the patient feel more confortable. Which is why i wear it, really.

Today i brought a patient to their room and told their partner to go get a pass from security; they said 'yes ma'am.' When i later walked the partner back to the patient's room they said 'thank you sir' and then said 'oh sorry can we get another blanket too?' I said sure, brought back another blanket from the warmer, and they took it with a 'thank you again ma'am.' I was partly out of the room when i went '...wait' and the partner must have noticed my pause, because they were like 'oh, i guess i should have asked, i just saw your button and i figured, you know,' - and i waved it off and was like 'no, absolutely, that's fine. I just think that's the first time anyone's done something like that intentionally.' A gently weirdly nice little interaction, i guess.
