It was nerve-wrecking, for the both of them. Amy because she didn't know why Rory was setting her down with such a serious expression and saying that they needed to talk. And Rory because well... how do you explain to your wife and best friend since childhood that you didn't identify as male?

And so as Rory sits down and she's messing with her hands Amy looking at her she just blurts it out, "Idon'tidentifyasmaleandi'dliketobecalledyourwifeandnotyourhusbandand-"

"Rory, can you speak slower? I can't understand you."

She can feel her body still but breathes out and remembers to annunciate, "Amy... I don't identify as male and, I- I'd like to be called your wife and not your husband and... do you, still... do you still love me, knowing?"

Amy's eyes soften and Rory is acutely aware of her thundering heartbeat. Her Amy moves forwards and cups her face, leaning in close she whispers, "Of course I still love you, you dunce."

And all of a sudden every worry that Rory had is gone, all that's left is joy and she can't help the smile that breaks out across her face.

Hot take: River and the Doctor having a father/daughter relationship would have been WAY more compelling than a romance arc. I mean, you'd also have to adjust a lot of shit in Season 6 for it to work but like imagine. Amy insists on the Doctor letting her come with him to search for their daughter. River Song is not Mels but rather straight from the astronaut plot. Picks the name River Song herself because she likes the ring of it and that's how she kicks off her new regeneration- with a new name instead of comments about checking her weight. Let's Kill Hitler where Amy encourages River to save the Doctor because the Doctor has been searching for her as much as she and Rory have, where River decides to save him not because She Is River Song and River Song Wants To Marry/Kill The Doctor Timey Wimey Sexist Bullshit but because she can see that the Doctor can't be evil if her parents love him and he spent so long trying to find her.

Then, instead of entering archaeology to "find a good man," decides to become an archaeologist to make her own path outside of the path that the Silence set for her. Not about the Doctor, but about her own desire to learn, to find something permanent, to discover things in her own way outside of the TARDIS.

Let the bittersweetness of the River&Amy&Rory&theDoctor dynamic come from that. Not because Amy & Rory stopped caring after River had saved the Doctor's life, but because River insisted on getting to figure out who she was outside of the path set for her. And the fact that River will outlive her parents by mere virtue of the whole half-time-lord-DNA thing makes her relationship with the doctor tragic and compelling not because she doesn't think she'll ever live up to him but because they are the only two people that understand each other's grief

Hear me out, right? I made an AU, where Jevon gets older and they have kids with some lore behind it, along with Lexy having a little cousin that stays with her.

Thus, let me explain their sexualities and genders.

Rory, on the spot, is def androgynous. But usually prefers he/him pronouns, and is a pansexual. Which is weird, considering his personality contradicts the sterotypes for pansexuals when you think about it.

Riley, I’ve had many upon many changes for our girlie, and I think her and Rory look like the gender ends of eachother, so she’s definitely trans femme and leaning on the gender-fluid side, and she’s bisexual.

Renee is seven years old, so she doesn’t know what she is yet.

Caroline strikes me as a aroace cis girl, like sex repulsed and not really into romance.

Ian is definitely a closeted bi guy with a TON of internalized homophobia that he’s gonna need at least 5 years is therapy for, and he’s also cis.

Saskia, if given the terminology, would id as non binary and/or gender non-conforming. Her connection to womanhood is rather loose, and while being read and treated as a woman doesn’t exactly bother her, she’s not comfortable with traditionally feminine clothing and such either. She’s someone who insists she’s first and foremost a person (or, well, a dragon lmao). Modern Saskia is 100% a she/they person whose presentation-- clothes, mannerisms, etc.-- falls more on the masc side.

Villen is genderfluid, and his own openess to gender expression is what created a comfortable envirnoment for Saskia to explore hers. Sometimes Villen is a man, sometimes a woman, sometimes neither or both or everything in between-- but all of it is him. While he has a slight preference for masculine forms, there’s really no way to misgender Villen and all pronouns are fine by him. Modern Villen insists his gender is twink.

Oles is a trans man. He’s known this since he was a child and brought it up in a conversation with his foster mother/aunt when he was about twelve, recieving her full support. Being savvy with herbalism and medicine, she was able to create the magicky equivalent of HRT for Oles. Later, he perfected the formula himself and still takes it to this day. In private, he likes to put on make up or dresses and mess around with all that, but in public he expresses his masculinity rather traditionally.

Rory is a non binary trans woman. She definitely has an affinity for everything traditionally feminine with a goth twist, but doesn’t necessarily think of herself as a woman. At least, not all the time. For Rory, her gender is inseparable from her attraction towards women exclusively and her identity as a lesbian. Modern day Rory might describe herself as a high femme non binary lesbian.

oof that’s really hard to say? Writing wise, I mostly prefer stuff that’s more or less canonverse, with some slight alterations at times (mostly that everyone’s suddenly very queer and usually pretty chill about it lol). In reading, it depends: I love ridiculous AUs like coffeeshop stuff or modern AUs (if it’s classics or historical fiction) or AUs with various rom com tropes, or youtube AUs, or.... the list goes on forever. Especially if the canon is pretty dark and/or my faves suffer a lot, I love fluffy AUs where they only suffer from being oblivious and love-sick. But a huge elaborate canonverse fic that makes my otp canon in a way that vibes perfectly with the og source? dude I LIVE for that shit!!

Favorite of all time probably not, but here’s three I’ve been thinking about again recently:

& it’s hard for me to say by adhdjess (lesbiankavinsky) in which Jess Mariano is a trans boy and Rory Gilmore is the only one he talks to about it. My heart aches every time I think about it (and not only because it last updated in 2018). A lot of my self-discovery in terms of sexuality and gender happened via fic (there’s a Sherlock-fanfic out there where I can pinpoint the exact sentence that made me realize i’m on the aromantic spectrum when I read it. let’s not talk about that one tho) and this one was so meaningful and important to me in my gender journey that I literally had dreams about it. Also it was written by Kit and I love them and you should absolutely read every single thing they’ve ever written.

It’s a Legally Blonde: The Musical fic in which Emmett Forest is a butch and Elle takes her shopping for a dapper suit. I think about this every time I listen to the musical, which I happened to do today, so here you go! (Also, Elle Woods as a femme lesbian makes SO MUCH SENSE)

I’ve Got Nothing To Do Today But Smile (The Only Living Boy In New York) by gyzym Now this one I don’t need to suggest to you because I’m pretty sure you were the one who suggested it to me long, long ago - but maybe other people don’t know about this and they should! This is the prime example of a coffeeshop AU for me - whenever I think of this trope, I think of this fic. It’s an Inception fic - in 2020? you better believe it! - in which Arthur is a lawyer with a tendency to stress-bake and Eames owns a hipster coffeeshop across the street from Arthur’s high-end law firm. It’s got everything: disaster gays, oblivious pining, mental breakdowns, a cute side story with Ariadne and Yusuf, and yes, it’s unbearably sweet and funny! And there’s also a wonderful podfic of it which I highly recommend.

i am attracted to fictional characters regardless of gender, but i have a preference for men + enbies, probably due to my irl preference in attraction.

a: i'm extremely gnc (gender non-conforming) and i'm a femme. i actually dislike looking super masculine - the only reason i wear masc stuff irl is so i pass. however, since my s/is are fictional, i can have them wear anything i want, and they will never be misgendered no matter how feminine they are!

also, all of my s/is have had or end up having top surgery (or the magic equivalent), so i don't usually draw them in binders unless i'm drawing a backstory. this is partially to relieve my dysphoria (i desperately want top surgery lmao) and partially to open up new outfit options. but hey, if you were wondering what the scars on my s/is chest in every canon are from, now you know!

bpd (borderline personality disorder)

hpd (histrionic personality disorder)

trauma, possible c-ptsd (complex post-traumatic stress disorder)

anxiety disorders (generalized and social)

schizophrenia/psychosis

mdd (major depressive disorder)

did (dissociative identity disorder)

also, as mentioned in my about, i'm on the autism spectrum.

some of these are professionally diagnosed, some i'm in testing for, n some are self diagnosed.

a: i have scoliosis + other crap that causes me chronic pain. a lot of activities are difficult for me because of that. i tend to be very self-consious about my disability, n hide it well, even when my symptoms and pain are really bad. i would consider myself to be "invisibly disabled".
