Her name is Lavinia, and she's just a little goober. Her markings have been fading as she's getting older, so she puts on makeup to keep them looking bright. After she came out as trans, she decided to get more creative with her markings. On her forehead she loves putting space related markings, her favorite being a star.

Speaking of space, she LOVES space. Just like her twin brother, the amazing Donatello, she has autism. Her special interest is space. She loves anything and everything about it. It's the only science she could listen to for hours and still not be bored.

Her pronouns are well.. She/Her/Herself. Though she would be cool with space related neos too!

The rumor come out: Does Lavy is Gay?

Lavy is both non-binary and gay! Though they didn't come out with the former until after they'd died. You can imagine coming out with that in the 1920's wouldn't be ideal- and you know, internalised transphobia.

This is a good time to say what the inspiration for its name is! "Lavender" is based on the nickname that the old 20's called gay men. They were commonly referred to as "lavender boys". Lavy took that in stride and decided to be called by that. Even if they were a closested trans, they were NOT a closeted gay in the slightest.

Reading Umineko for fun and profit? hopefully?

multiple of my twitter mutuals love this game and talk about it all this time. and it looks really interesting, doesnt it, despite its incredibly intimidating length.

so, there is very little going in that i know about! and i am excited to experience it. :) (assuming i can fight my way through the whole thing) apparently they are all on an island. and someone dies. or something like that. if you are around people who love the game, it is inevitable to know some of the main characters, at least on a surface level. there is obviously beatrice, the woman in the painting, who my (similarily clueless friend) once called "the joker for trans women", which accurately describes her vibes. (i mean this in the most positive way. i am on the edge of my seat) otherwise i really only know battler because of his stupid name (its like hes a shonen protagonist - he has to BATTLE. FIGHT MAN) and the two girls who frequently get drawn alongside each other (the blond and the blue one) that aside, i had the vague mind to ask my friend for specific content warnings i usually look out for and they arent actually in there! even though my friend described the game as "well, in theory, umineko needs a bucket full of content warnings but if i were to list them like an encyclopedia, it would spoiler half of the thing" (great sign)

anyway, so i will write whatever thoughts i have about it. this absolutely will involve spoilers. the version i have is english and has newer sprites. (sort of sad, i actually genuinely think the original round boxxing glove artstyle has an incredible amount of personality to it and despite being wonky, the facial expressions are great)

intro + opening

kinzo in his musty dusty study talks to danjo, his doctor. despite them being friends, their relationship as a doctor and resisting patient is likened to a game of chess. and kinzo is obviously losing. i really like the analogy. his struggle with alcohol and health and his inability to improve his habits are direct moves against his friends medical advise. yet he is also framed as a very wealthy character, a king of sorts. so either way, whether he lives (the doctor convinces him) or dies (he succumbs to alcoholism), the king is lost. is this purposeful? who knows. really paints a picture of him though; there is nothing he wishes to write in his will, he needs no advise, he is actively destroying himself, and he wont leave any inheritance. so adding to his physical health, he really isnt doing well mentally, huh... makes me wonder How Much Of his sickness is related to drinking. it seems like something else is going on, too. him dying to alcoholism would paint a different picture than him being terminally ill and choosing to end his life this way (while still suffering from alcoholism but! you know). maybe then the lost king makes sense - he is lost either way, but he could still choose to make a few last good moves. also he made some sort of contract with beatrice and she has him wrapped around her pinky. well, we shall see.

this line specifically does not seem to bode well. beatrice what are you going to do to those people.

also i didnt watch the opening. my friend told me to watch this one instead :) good music

"father issues damage you but mother issues rewrite your dna" or however that post goes. i absolutely believe in this. its horrifying. knowing battlers mother died and then he lived with his grandparents AND THEN THOSE DIED TOO. hey trans guys/folks on testosterone, tell me if this is common knowledge or if my prev doctors were just Not Good: it’s apparently recommended that you’re supposed to also take estrogen blockers while injecting testosterone since estrogen levels raise with testosterone levels, and elevated estrogen levels can contribute to things like weight gain and insomnia. like obvs it’s good to have a healthy amount of estrogen for stuff like bone health, but too much alongside testosterone is generally not great

Positive Education

Title: "Fostering Flourishing: The Power of Positive Education for Wellbeing"

In a transformational approach to education, positive education prioritises the overall development of students' well-being and resilience over traditional academic accomplishment (Hasanuddin & Mappaompo, 2024). Positive education, which has its roots in positive psychology, seeks to develop a pleasant school climate and provide students with the abilities and perspective necessary to succeed in all facets of life.

Understanding Positive Education

Stressing the development of students' strengths, resilience, and overall well-being, positive education incorporates the science of positive psychology into classroom instruction (Ellis & Robson-Kelly, 2018). Positive education acknowledges the value of developing students' emotional intelligence, character traits, and social skills in addition to emphasising academic achievement (Cabanas & González-Lamas, 2022). Utilising Martin Seligman's PERMA model and the Values in Action (VIA) categorization, positive education integrates traditional educational concepts with the study of happiness and well-being (Millacci, 2024). One of the pioneers of positive psychology, Seligman, has integrated positive psychology into educational models to improve the well-being and happiness of younger people and reduce depression (Alam, 2022). The purpose of educators and practitioners utilising his PERMA model (or its extension, the PERMAH framework) in schools is to support instructors and students in having positive mental health.

Evidence-based Practices of Positive Education

To improve and enhance students' resilience and overall well-being, positive education makes effective and appropriate use of a variety of research-backed strategies. These particular practices cover a broad spectrum of activities, exercises, and tactics intended to strengthen character traits, encourage a very growth mindset, and encourage pleasant emotions.

Positive emotions are essential for improving learning, encouraging creativity, and reducing stress (Diener et al., 2020). It has been demonstrated and illustrated that activities including blogging about gratitude, doing random acts of kindness (Ellis & Robson-Kelly, 2018), and practicing mindfulness may foster and enhance happy feelings and enhance general well-being.

Characteristics like compassion, persistence, and resilience are very crucial for overcoming obstacles and issues in life and reaching one's greatest potential (Lavy, 2020). To help and assist students feel much more purposeful and accomplished, positive education programmes very frequently include activities and interventions that target recognising, and strengthening these qualities in their pupils.

Resilience and academic achievement are based on a growth mindset, which is defined as the conviction that skills can be acquired with practice and effort (Anderson et al., 2020). Through techniques including rephrasing obstacles as chances and opportunities for development, accepting failure as a normal part of learning, and offering much more constructive criticism that emphasizes effort and advancement, positive education promotes the development of a growth mindset.

Overall, by very significantly putting students' resilience and well-being first, positive education has the potential to drastically change the educational system. Schools may provide and offer supportive environments that enable children to flourish and foster academically, socially, and emotionally by using evidence-based strategies with an effective foundation in positive psychology.
