In this scene, Aizawa Shōta is talking to Aoyoma Yūga, his student who was revealed to be a traitor for the villain One For All. He is also speaking about his friend, Shirakumo Oboro, who died and was genetically engineered to become a villain called Kurogiri. In addition to that, he is touching on the major points of Boku no Hero Academia (BNHA) surrounding forgiveness and redemption.
I can certainly write up a whole thing on BNHA and redemption, however that would take a while, so I'll just focus on this little moment.
What Aizawa is saying to Aoyoma, he is also saying to Kurogiri. Between him and Yamada Hizashi, he is shown as the friend who consistently reaches out to Shirakumo. He believes that Shirakumo is in there, whereas Yamada has his doubts.
"You will still walk alongside the friends who still reach out to you." He will never stop trying to find what remains of Shirakumo inside of Kurogiri, despite the fact that Kurogiri is a villain and was a major player at the USJ, where Aizawa was pretty much almost straight up murdered. He's still reaching out to Kurogiri and he is never going to stop.
And he's saying to Aoyoma, you fucked up, but that doesn't have to be the end. Pretty much everyone in 1-A is willing to reach out a hand, even going against the police and the faculty to do it.
You are still worthy of redemption. You are still worth saving. You are not done yet. The main plot of the Final War arc is about that. Uraraka, Aizawa and Yamada, Shōji and Kōda, the Todorokis, and Midoriya and the previous One for All users plots are all about that.
Bakugō's personal character arc is all about that. Growing as a person into someone who is better. He is not done when he tells Midoriya to kill himself. It's fucked up, but he is not done yet. He grows. They all grow. Aizawa is offering Aoyoma a chance to take this outstretched hand and make things right. And I just think it's really great.

I had a conversation with a commenter MrTicklesMMM over a year ago about how All for One seemed like the type to pull an Aizen. We had the exact same thought about the Uraraka construction company. It's been a while so I might not remember perfectly but here are some other ideas for AFO responsible for every evil ever:
-Katsuki was a very kind boy until AFO used a quirk to make him hate Izuku.
-AFO has been quietly stealing cookies Rikido Sato's bakery for years.
-AFO swapped out Denki Kaminari's quirk for LOLs and gave him one that fries his brain when he uses it.
-With subliminal messaging, AFO turned Minoru Mineta into a perver.
-He cyberbullied Momo to destroy her confidence.
-He separated Eijiro Kirishima from his twin brother, Tetsutetsu, at birth so that they were raised by different families.
-AFO shot Sero’s uncle, who then told Sero that with great power comes great responsibility. This was specifically a Spiderman tribute. He did it to Daigoro Banjo too, because he also seemed to have sorta weblike powers.
-AFO mutilated Mezo Shoji’s face.
-Somehow, he gave Koda Koji his bug phobia.
-He dumped estrogen into the Asui family water supply resulting in Tsuyu turning female (yeah, that's a thing that happens to frogs.) She's the only one who doesn't care.
-Yuga Aoyoma wasn’t born quirkless. AFO stole Yuga’s original quirk, Glitter, partly to use him as a traitor later but mostly because he wanted it.
-AFO swapped Dark Shadow and Fumikage Tokoyami: their personalities are at odds because the quirk was originally the human and vice versa. Fumikage realizes that he was always destined for the darkness and the now ironically named Dark Shadow is a being of the light.
-He’s the one who sent Gigantomachia after Mina’s friends.
-AFO was behind Enji and Rei's quirk marriage. When Shouto points out that this is technically a good thing from his perspective because he wouldn’t exist otherwise, AFO says that he also inflicted Dabi upon the world. Shouto sighs and nods.
-He's the reason Toru Hagakure can’t turn her power off. He obtained a quirk a long time ago that can alter the classification of other quirks. Toru’s ability was supposed to be an at will power, but he made it a mutant quirk.
-AFO was behind the music industry raising the price of online songs. He hoped to convince more people to pirate music. Kyouka Jiro nearly claws his eyes out.
-He gave fake info about Tensei to Stain, “proving” that Tensei is a corrupt hero. He hoped Tenya would become a murderer to take revenge and it almost worked.
-Ojiro Mashirao asks what AFO did to him, and AFO is startled. He admits he never even noticed Ojiro is in Class 1-A. Ojiro is much more upset than if AFO had ruined his life.
For the villains:
-AFO hired Muscular to eliminate the Water Hose duo.
-The Sludge Villain only went around committing crimes because AFO promised to swap out his awful quirk if he came up with enough money.
-AFO convinced Re-Destro to follow in the footsteps of his ancestor by saying he personally knew Destro and his last wish had been for his descendants to carry on his mission. Except with even more violence.
-For Dabi, the same except Dabi is upset AFO caused Shouto to exist.
-AFO cyberbullied Spinner as practice for Momo.
-He killed the real Twice and swapping him with a clone for LOLs.
-He tricked Compress into thinking his ancestor was more about randomly killing people and less about wealth redistribution.
-AFO told Toga's parents they should starve her of blood and that would cure her craving and cause her to switch over to craving fruit juice.
P.S. It's all a lie. AFO did not do most of those things, he just claims credit for everything that goes wrong ever.
AFO having a construction company, what are the chances he has something to do with the way Uraraka's parents are bankrupt?
... Headcanon accepted. That bitch is the source of all evil.

Filo walked with Tao, holding on to her hood. They had flown on a cloud, but decided to walk the rest of the way. Given how Tao had tapped on his phone earlier, he might have already told Shigaraki they were coming. Maybe even asked him to make a connection to All for One. She had lots of questions to him, and Tao no doubt had them as well. Looking up, she spotted Magne already waiting for them and ushering them inside. The rest of the League was gathered, a laptop standing on a table in the middle. All for One's face, or what was remaining of it, was on the screen. "Good morning, Tao. And your friend must be Filo then. Apologizes that I can not attend this meeting in person, I have businesses that can not wait", the man spoke. Filo hummed, the voice sounded somewhat familiar, but she couldn't place her finger on why. She took a deep breath, standing straight. "Hello, sir. We wanted to speak to you regarding the second traitor in our class, Yuya Aoyoma." Given how Tomura whipped around, he hadn't been aware of this. Which calmed Tao down immensely, he hadn't been lied to by Tomu.
"Further, I'd like to discuss Tao's mother with you", Filo continued. All the good feeling was punched out of Tao. He had questions about his mother, yes, but, not like this. He didn't even know how exactly he'd ask things, or what he'd ask in the first place. If he ever asked, and not stopped, intimidated by All for One's presence and the fear of more experiments. The man on the screen hummed, clearly intrigued. "His mother? Go on, I'm curious what you want to discuss about her." Filo hummed. "Tao told me she abandoned him, but that is not true. Not completely, at least. One doesn't simply find you, Sir. So I conclude she already knew you. She was one of your agents, like Kurogiri currently is. But the missions were dangerous, and when she became pregnant, she left. Without telling you first, of course. You had her hunted down and blackmailed her, with her son's life. Probably took Tao away right after he s born, she never even got to hold him. And then you had your scientist experiment on him, which resulted in this chimera quirk. She either couldn't recognize him anymore, or couldn't bear to look at him, seeing herself as a failure of a mother. Having been unable to protect her son. And then, when she was no longer of use, you had her experimented on as well." Filo hummed low, her eyes going sharp, "And I'm willing to bet money she is the exact Nomu sitting behind you. Am I wrong, Sir?"
The room was silent. Everyone felt a different kind of dread. And then, All for One smiled. "Clever Girl. Giving you that second quirk was a brilliant idea." Filo blinked, completely caught of guard. "What?"
“Sherlock Scan quirk. Where do you think you’re able to get such valuable information from someone?” All for One held a proud grin. Everyone in the room stared at the screen, completely thrown off. Mainly Filo and Tao. “Y-you gave her a quirk- wait you know him?!” Tao asked. Filo glanced at him and shook her head. She could swear she hadn’t ever met the man, as far as she knew. Or maybe she had and blocked it out? That could be why she felt as she remembered AFO’s voice. “I’d given you the quirk when you were only months old, Filo. Your mother is a business partner of mine.” His smile grew. “She didn’t try to run away, so you never had to undergo experiments. Lucky you, hm?” Filo stood still, processing the information. Her mother was associated with AFO? “Y-you..monster..” Tao cried, voice shakey and cracking. He’d been to focused on this new information about his best friend, that all about his mother he forgot was said. All for One tilted his head. “You’re entitled to your own opinion, I suppose. From what I’ve seen, the quirk has immensely helped Filo.” He seemed to be getting somewhat of a kick out of this. Was it seeing the dread, confusion, sorrow, pain on their faces? “How long has my mother been a business partner to you?” Filo asked. All for One hummed. “Awhile now. Your family has long been associated with me, so there was really no way out. She’s a very compliant and easy to work with woman.” He added. Again, the room fell silent. Everyone either was still processing all of what was said, or thinking deeply.
“I would stand to say, the quirk I gifted you helps you. I heard from Shigaraki of a girl able to find full stories with just bits of information. I’m glad to know it is you.” Filo couldn’t bring herself to look at the screen anymore, instead looking just below it. She didn’t know what to think. This was all such shocking news especially to her. This whole time she had a second quirk? That AFO knew her? Her mother did business with the man?! Why couldn’t she just have normal teenage girl problems?

In the third movie of bnha, I think the traitor is going to be revealed. In the original three musketeers story, one of the musketeers finds out his wife is alive and also evil. If Horikoshi stays with his love of parallels like for star wars and superheroes, he's going to stick to the main plot points of the three musketeers. So the traitor will be reviled and it's going to be someone close to tododekubaku. My money is on izuku.
⚠️ Manga Spoilers ⚠️
Despite Horikoshi saying that he forgot all about the traitor theory- I am betting fully that he’s now trying to incorporate it because we as a fandom are so god damn insistent 😂
I’ve seen so many theories revolving around who could the traitor possibly be- from Kaminari, to Kirishima, to Midoriya (by accident thanks to the AFO theory), to Todoroki, to Uraraka, and to Aoyoma.
I love the traitor!Denki theory because of his code name, given by the fandom, as The Distraction. He’s also done so many sketch things in the manga that point to it (which hurts since he’s one of my favorites. Emotional support dumbass)
The traitor!Kirishima theory, I believe, revolves around them(the villains) threatening his friends/family? I admittedly have only seen a few posts about it.
Listen- I love villain!deku. I do. I’d love that plot twist of him saying that he’s gonna be the worlds greatest villain. But I also love my sweet bun and desperately hope it isn’t him. Though nothing would be funnier than Inko telling Hisashi all about Izuku’s endeavors and Hisashi (AFO) being like “this is nice”. We really did pick the shittiest person in the anime to be Izuku’s dad huh.
I want to see Todoroki go absolutely batshit feral, okay? He deserves it. He deserves to go dramatic like his older brother. I would condone villain!todoroki. Fuuuuck can you imagine them revealing him as the traitor and it turning out that he and Dabi planned the entire reveal? That depending on how the people would react they’d stop or continue.
I love traitor!Uraraka because of her original goal being to be a hero for money- however due to recent events I can see that she’s trying to be a genuine hero. Deku is her inspiration- which I find admirable. If she is a traitor- this current arc has shown her what heroes go through and might even make her switch sides.
I’m not fully sure where the traitor!aoyoma theory came from but I do know it’s a thing? I don’t really have much opinions on it- but I did see a good theory post where Aoyoma knows who the traitor is and was trying to tell Deku.

ok people are pointing out similarities between aoyoma, mic, and gentle and I just wanna make a list of like similarities between him and mic that fuck me up
The same goddamn eyes, like besides gentle’s extreme eye makeup
big ass pointy noses
gentle’s moustache is just mic’s but bigger and better
blonde (probably, at least light haired)
I feel like their face shape is similar? like mic has a smaller/less pronounced forehead and brow but it still feels similar
even though mics not smiling in this pic they both have those fuckin triangle mouths
loud, showy, flamboyant dudes that love attention
its not shown really but they both got really high collared jackets
just absolutely radiates gay energy
looks directly into the camera
Tumblr media
anyway the point of this is if horikoshi is making them so similar to reveal mic is in league with him/the traitor I will destroy him with my own two hands

Awfully presumptuous of a man that hasn’t seen his son in a long time, to think he knows how to get him to fall in love with someone. It’s probably horribly inaccurate dating advice or always ends up backfiring.
Afo: buy him expensive stuff that he likes
Aoyoma: proceeds to buy izuku expensive all might merch and cheese.
For real tho, he’ll probably be acting so weird the whole traitor things get out within 2 days.
Alternatively, since Aoyama is a skilled actor, he nicely translates AFO’s 1541-step script into a something workable.
Within two days, Yuuga and Izuku are engaged and they are sending AFO the bill for the their wedding plans.

BNHA AU Concept: Transmigrator
Midoriya Izuku, a normal - if rather sickly - japanese boy of 15 years old passes away just after finishing the final volume of Plus Ultra! a gritty, pre then post-apocalyptic manga about superheroes staring class 1A as their society crumbled around them following the death of the Symbol of Peace.
The whole thing was pretty bleak, with members of the class dying off pretty regularly until only 12 remained, teamed up with other heroes trying to defeat the big villain, All for One. The ending was a downer though - the heroes were all slain and it was left ambiguous at to if All for One survived that last strike or not.
Then he wakes up in the body of Midoriya Izuku, the background character with whom he, unfortunately, shared a name, right before he was killed by the sludge villain, kick-starting Bakugo Katsuki's whole tragic backstory. Not wanting to be the first person to die twice in one day, he holds on until he's saved by All Might (whom he fanboy's hopelessly about), ends up saving Bakugo Katsuki from the same villain, and getting offer All Might quirk - confirming one of the biggest fan theories of the series!
Well. Looks like he's got a chance to save some of his favourite characters and stop this whole world from ending - pretty lucky his first life gave him a great pain tolerance and total disregard for his own life, huh?

Addams family Aizawa or adams family class 1A au
I love the idea of an Aizawa thats just a little,,, off. His smile too wide, his teeth too straight and square, his eyes never reacting to light, always a little brighter than the ambient light should allow for.
He tends to be given the powerful students, but this year he got something better: the weird ones. The ones like him, touched by something beyond the veil. A boy that sees too much, another with a living shadow, one part machine - unclear where student ends and metal begins, a girl with space in her eyes and gravity at her finger tips -
Just like him. His students.

desperately need a fanfic where aoyama finds out izuku used to be quirkless and panics about the poor boy being in debt to all for one
,,, AU where Aoyoma does the normal thing of googling people he’s just met on line and finds Izuku recorded in a news article from 10 months ago, listed as a ‘Quirkless Middle School Student’ and starts desperately trying to work out if he and Izuku are in the same boat, with increasing worry as more and more quirks appear

BNHA AU Concept
Silly BNHA AU where Izuku is two years younger than the main cast and this ruins the whole plot.
To start, Bakugo is fiercely protective of Izuku - he’s quirkless, tiny and sweet and, thankfully for Bakugo’s inferiority complex, not someone hes compaired to being a full 2 years older than the kid. There is no childhood ‘betrayal’, just Bakugo stubbornly making sure Izuku thinks he’s the worlds coolest person.
The slime villain happens without Izuku and All Might’s conversation before hand. He hears Bakugo call Izuku a quirkless dumbass while Izuku sobs and hugs him and All Might has a “aww, sweet!” moment. He files it away.
He ends up teaching Bakugo at UA, mentions the kid who saved him. “Oh yeah, Deku? He’s like 12 and a nightmare. Self preservation of a lemming.” Izuku then proves him right by getting kidnapped by Shigaraki durring the press break in - Izuku had a day off school and wanted to see UA so he walked with Bakugo - and then, when Shigaraki tries to threatern UA with the death of a child, Izuku fucking bites Shigaraki’s finger off and jumps out the window.
His childhood hero was Bakugo. It rubbed off on him a little.
All Might is like “hmm. i think i will have a heart attack now” but ends up giving Izuku his quirk because hes so stupudly heroic there is nothing else he can do. Bakugo is in on it and he visits UA on saturdays to train with All Might. Aizawa is convinced he’s All Might’s bastard child, as is Todoroki. They, somehow, bond over this.

An au where stain is just someone hired by the hero commission to kill heroes who speak out against the hero commission and killing false hero’s is just a cover story
Wait this slaps, I love it. Is Stain an agent, just acting out his cover story? Is he an actual villain the commission hired to do this - do they have leverage over him or is more dead heroes exactly what he wants? Or is he the HPSC's own version of a nomu, constructed for covert assasinations, mindlessly following orders?
I really do like the idea that he was a villain they hired who disliked heroes anyway. Stain thinks he's going to betray the HPSC when they run out of targets to give him, but they already know of Stain's plans and are one step ahead of him.
oooohh!! Imagine they stage a prison break for him after he's captured by Izuku and co, and they tell him to 'do away with the kid'. Stain flips because 'dude what the fuck hes like 15, you dont pay me to kill kids' and the HPSC is like 'ah. is see we have reached an impass' and he has to rip off the armoured collar they gave him because its started to heat up ever so slightly. he throws it to the ground where it pops with a deceptively small explosion, right where his jugular vein would have been.
He then runs to UA in a half-blind panic to do the only thing he can think of - warn the kid. He's already a dead man walking if the HPSC want his head, but that poor kid has a life ahead of him. Nezu, who does not trust the commission as far as he could throw the whole building that housed them, decides to listen before letting All Might punch him into the sun, and is quickly horrified by how everything lines up.
Queue an arc where Stain is pretending to be a sidekick and teachers aid at UA for cover while they try to work out how to keep Izuku safe, all while Izuku is the only student who is like ",,,am I losing my mind or is our new teacher's aid the hero killer???"

Aoyoma traitor thing: I just remembered the scene where they try to invite him to lunch with them and he declines saying the cafeteria food doesn't agree with him which is why he always eats his own in the classroom. This was Hori broadcasting that Sparkly wasn't with the rest of the students during the media break in ruse and I completely missed it until months after the reveal. How does he keep doing this?
It’s the power of foreshadowing and planning the story ahead.

I'm torn on the UA traitor. On one hand I'm glad it's not Aoyoma because he's my favorite, on the other it wouldn't be impossible for Hori to pull a fast one on us. If I'm being honest that leaked 'image' of Twinkles sitting in front of the creepy shadow gate is still looming over my head. But how else are we going to get character development out of an invisible girl whose only trait has been comedic relief and (somehow)fan service.
The leaked image of Twinkles sitting right next to the UA gates, looking guilty, while a shadow is slipping through the cracks, is living rent-free in my mind!
As for your question... Wouldn't we get character development from Hakagure if she is the one who discover who the traitor is instead of being the traitor?

The next day was a Saturday, and many had left UA to go visit their families, spend the weekend there. But before Tao could do the same, Filo had passed him up, asking him to come to her room. He had followed, of course, having intended to ask her if she'd join him and the League for the day. But before he could voice it, surprise took him over. They were not alone in the girl's room. Aoyoma sat on Filo's bed, looking as surprised as Tao did. Tao knew Aoyoma was one of the people Filo didn't really click with, not maliciously or anything, they just had nothing in common. They were polite around each other, but never hung out. Filo sat on her chair, humming. "Years ago, a quirkless boy was born", she began, irritating Tao. Why was she telling a story? "The boy asked his parents why he was quirkless, as he got bullied for it. The parents wanted their son to be accepted and loved, to be not different and a target. So they contacted someone society deems a monster, but who could provide the young boy with a quirk. In exchange, the boy's family had to work for the man, and if they ever disobeyed, they'd be killed and their son used in experiments. And now, the once quirkless boy is stuck with a quirk his body isn't adjusted to, one which hurts him. Forced to pretend to be a normal student, spying for All for One."
Tao felt ice-cold shivers run down his back. Was this his story? Were his memories wrong and this was actually his past and Filo was exposing him? But that wouldn't make sense, she had been so nice to him all the time! She had been nice to the League! And he knew what was true and what wasn't! Before more doubts could invade his mind, Filo turned to Aoyoma, who looked at her with shock and dread. "Tell me, Yuya. How much of your past did I get correct?" Tao stared. Slowly, his gaze shifted from his friend to the blond, who looked frightened, close to tears. AfO had a second spy in UA? A second spy in this very class? Why would he need Tao then, if he already had Aoyoma? Why put him under such stress and emotional baggage? Was this some sort of loyalty test?! Questios Tao had no answer to. But answering, Aoyoma did. He swallowed, then lowered his head. "All of it. All of it is true. How did you find out?"
Filo explained. How she was able to listen and piece the puzzles pieces together. “It wasn’t too hard.” She said. Honestly, it was almost as if she had some sort of second quirk. Aoyama sat in shame, head still lowered. Tao sat with wide eyes, brows furrowed together. His eyes landed upon Aoyama. “You know..Sensei?” Tao asked in quiet voice. The blonde flinched and looked up at him, now crying. He never was able to stop himself from crying in situations like these. He only nodded. Tao held his head in his hands. He had to speak to All for One. Had Tomura known about this? Surely not. He told him absolutely everything. “L-look..You’re not alone.” Tao said. Better to just tell him now. What would Aoyama do? Rat him out to the teachers? He’d be too frightened of revealing his own traitorous status. “We have pretty similar circumstances..I just don’t know why he didn’t tell me about you..” Tao ran a hand through his hair as he thought more. He couldn’t come up with any excuse. Wouldn’t he want them to know each other? Create a bond and plans if anything went wrong? Tao didn’t know. It hurt his head to think about it. All he knew at the moment was he needed to go to the League, as well as Filo. All he knew was he needed to confront AFO. He didn’t want to face him, to see the tall scary man. But he was at the point he had too many unanswered question. His mother, the experiments, why he was a spy at UA since now he learned Aoyama was just like him. Was this all some sick game? Was he just being used by the man who sheltered him for as long as he could remember?
“We won’t tell anyone..if that’s what you’re worried about.” Tao reassured as he stood, glancing at Aoyama who tried to dry his tears. “But I need to go..I-I have a lot of questions. Filo, you should come along..” Was all he said as he hurried out the room, putting on his hood. The day was a cold and stormy one. Fitting for the circumstances.

I know you decided that traitor is hagakure but hear me out: aoyoma didnt say ANYTHİNG to deku at all while hagakure at least asked him and iida if they are okay and told izu about ua barrier. What happened to aodeku friendship? Tatarus breakout thats what! Even all his speech bubbles are all shakey
this is all very true. but as I said in my most recent U.A. Traitor post, I'm pretty certain at this point that Aoyama witnessed something at USJ that led him to realize Hagakure was a traitor. this doesn't necessarily mean that he's an accomplice, but he is definitely tied to this plotline, and lately Horikoshi has been dropping a lot of hints about this. first there was that picture from the DRAWING SMASH art exhibition earlier this year, where he was pictured sitting with a creepy, blank expression in front of a massive door (very much like the ones used in the U.A. barrier) which was in the process of being forced open by a huge Noumu-looking creature. (just fyi, people have refrained from posting HQ versions of this image online out of respect for Horikoshi during the exhibition period, but you can find some low-quality images by googling if you're really curious. I’m not normally one to use official art as evidence for theories, but this is one case where I really can’t think of another explanation for this picture lol. it’s just so out of left field, and genuinely unsettling.)
and then as you said, during the Deku VS Class A battle, Aoyama and Hagakure were the only two characters who lacked a meaningful interaction with Deku. for a brief moment it looked like Kirishima might also get dragged into that whole mess, but then he got his scene with Deku in the very next chapter, so now it's back to just those two. so we had a whole scene with Endeavor telling them to go off and hunt down any stray civilians, which then turned out to be completely irrelevant since they reappeared in the very next chapter. so that scene pretty much existed for the sole purpose of shuffling them to the side just long enough so that Horikoshi could handwave their Deku intervention speeches. it doesn't get much more conspicuous than that.
and now that we're back at U.A. (where I do think they're going to stay, once Ochako lays into those asshole civilians and gives them a piece of her mind next week), I definitely think the traitor plot is next on the agenda. Rat Principal and the rest of the heroes are placing an awful lot of faith in the amped-up U.A. Barrier, and it seems like the perfect opportunity for AFO to once again make use of the long-dormant spy within U.A.'s walls. so yeah, calling it now -- we are going to get the traitor reveal very shortly, and it's going to directly tie in to the final battle. I for one can't wait to see the entirety of reddit being all surprised Pikachu lol.
