My teenage dream of working for Fish and Wildlife is pretty much as out of reach as becoming a movie star, and I’m baffled by it. Who’d have thunk “I want to spend my career as a public servant, stewarding the environment of my country and the world” would be something literally made unobtainable within like… the last year of my graduate education, lol.
I just wanna wear that dorky brown uniform and work with salmon, dammit.
Anyway all this to say that I’m feeling like this might be the end of my career (not my job mind you… my career) and I may have to reset the track of my life and abandon my dreams, which is a big bummer after having achieved Step One of getting a job in the field.
There’s just no upward mobility here, and with the state of things, and the number of people who might be out of a job, far more experienced than me, and now competing for the same limited number of positions? I may just be cooked.
I’m trying to stay hopeful and print dragons, but I guess a contingency plan might have to be made. I might have to engage with my passions via volunteer work instead of making a career of it. Sucks. But what can you do.

Lately I've felt just so tired, and so I've been dozing on and off through my days. 😴
I know it's springtime and all, which in my case usually means depression, but c'mon.
#personal#i attented this one teams meeting today and had serious talk#and this one guy told me he's happy to hear i'm looking ahead and thinking about education and all#but what he's hearing is that i'm worn out and i should be looking into that instead#maybe talk to a doctor or think about joining some therapy group that focus on this kind of stuff#before i try to push myself into another school or work related thing#and that got me thinking#i attended a rehab since last august and did job training for 4 months and i barely got any sleep during that time#it was supposed to activate me but it ended up exhausting me even more#and the doctor there did write this statement about my health. that i'm likely to be partially disabled permanently#but because that statement alone isn't enough to do anything apparently#the unemployment office worker i met last friday said the only way they can make it 'easier' for me is that i get an actual retirement#which. in my age. is probably gonna be difficult as fuck *sighs*#especially with how our current government operates now and all#so i don't know#i don't have a contact in the psychiatric clinic in my city anymore#so i might have to give this a serious thought and maybe try to get an appointment with an actual doctor at the health center#if not for sick leave or other stuff then. maybe they could run some blood tests at least#i haven't eaten that well either so i wouldn't be surprised if i'm lacking some vitamins besides being depressed and all maybe#it's getting a little bothersome if i'm honest

I know I've been quiet despite there only being 12 days left until shutdown, but there hasn't been a lot of news until now.
Long Story short . . . they are going to pass a CR. No one knows how long of one, but it will be until at least early February so it'll be under President Trump. The Democrats are asking for three things for their vote on a CR:
$100 billion for disaster aid
renewal of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act
renewal of the Older Americans Act
Now we wait.

The first social worker I met on this job, who was also probably the first social worker I’ve ever met in general, was a man. I’ve met a lot of social workers since then, but I don’t think I’ve met or even emailed any other male social workers so far at all. Apparently the field is 85% women.
#WAIT NO there were 2 at the thingy I had to go to#the training for anyone who works in ‘The Field’ in the county#I am not a social worker but I do work in ‘The Field’ so I ended up going#can I define what ‘The Field’ is? not really#kinda just…accepting money from the government to help people one on one with…things#whatever the government decided they would pay to help them with#so for me: helping adults with disabilities get good jobs basically#but a social worker who specializes in child psychiatric patients is also in The Field

I haven’t even had a minute with him yet. I only got to confirm that he exists and request his access for one of the system he will use. I’m supposed to have a 1-on-1 with him but he’s busy with HR paperwork and NDAs and shit I have no idea. Like other people are busy with him and I’m just having my own little EXO party by myself I guess I’ll talk to him when I talk to him idkkkkkkkk

#.txt#i need to reread lonely castle and asfit SO BADLY#and yami-hara#god tsujimura mizuki is such a phenomenal writer#also i forgot that one of the characters in asfit is ALSO named tsujimura mizuki#and she's like. the one creating the whole situation they're in#the implications that could have for bsd tsujimura (who's named after her mother and has her ability) are CRAZY#because so far in bsd all the characters we've seen who were named after other characters and not authors are sort of unimportant#and lack abilities#but TSUJIMURA#she DOES have an ability but it's not her own#and her whole life has been dictated by her mother#also i've read 3 tsujimura mizuki works so far and all of them have themes of teenage depression to varying extents#and i just. i don't know#considering how invested bsd tsujimura is in action movies NOW...it would not be surprising for to have been bullied growing up#her mother 'died' when she was 19 and she joined the special division not long after#she's been on the ayatsuji job for 2 years so i'm assuming she had to have spent at least 2 years in training and stuff#and like. at 19 she should be in college#it would be difficult to juggle college coursework and being in a secret government agency#also correct me if i'm wrong but i'm pretty sure she was scouted for the special division#what (besides her existing ire) could cause someone to drop out of college to join some secret agency? an unfriendly environment maybe?#i don't know i'm basically clutching at straws here#i used to have more detailed thoughts about this very topic but i either failed to write them down or they're buried in old discord message#gaidenposting

my parents are so fucking frustrating sometimes
#i got an paid internship/job offer IN THE FIELD IM STUDYING#all because i made a good impression and worked really hard at my last internship and the girls i worked with recommended me to this firm#and all my parents care about is my commute if i were to start working there#because its either 45 minutes by train + 25 minutes by car OR 1 hr 15 minutes by train + 20 minutes by FOOT#and i just dont feel like doing the 2nd option in the middle of winter but apparently i should suck it up bc 'fuel prices'#did i mention id only be doing 1 day a week?#so yeah fuel prices REALLY matter#and on top of that they only see the negatives and expect this entire thing to fail. for whatever reason#the firm designs stuff for the local government. there is no fucking way itd be sketchy. and it isnt#the fact they still want to hire me even for 1 day a week is amazing in and of itself like what job fucking does that#but they just dont. fucking think about it like that at all#no good job for my grades no congrats for this. nothing#it just feels like im their only child and im still the least favorite#why is it so hard to just say good job and at least act like youre proud

telling my friends my elaborate genius plan on how i will manage to raise my salary to unprecedented heights by jumping thru different hoops and loops for years to cheat the system. and then realising that my imaginary dream salary in like 5 years time as a nurse will still be so low that the government wants to deport me
