I still donât have a definite answer for myself but itâs either three or one. I absolutely LOVE the setup of three, how Reanâs a professor and taking on a whole new Class VIIâŚbut the first one, even though it starts off slow, is also so good. So much shit happened that I canât really give a coherent explanation of why I like that one a lot đ
But I do.
Also Iâm curious as to where four will place because personally, I think I hate that game đ Iâll have to replay but it was def my least favorite. Itâs not that I didnât like the conclusion; I did. Iâm glad these kids get to rest and finally enjoy life after everything theyâve been through (though I guess thatâs not entirely true since thereâs a fifth game lol).
However, and this is coming from a person who absolutely loves high fantasy, it was WAY too magicky. Multiple times I had to paise the game and go âhuh?â because I had no fucking clue what they were talking about. It felt way less grounded in reality than the others (but three was definitely dipping into that territory).
(Donât read past this point unless you wanna see an unhinged rant. Itâs not related to the poll.)
And I hated that curse shit!!! It felt like they were saying all the atrocities committed in Erebonia werenât actually the perpetratorsâ faults; it was just an age-old curse making them act up. FUCKING NO. HUMANS BE EVIL. THIS IS FACT.
Also also it doesnât help that the fourth game is also where Rean CALLS OSBORN âDADâ OR SOME SHIT NEAR THE END AND WEâRE SUPPOSED TO BE OKAY WITH THAT. HELLS NO. HE KIDNAPPED BLUDâS SISTER. HE TRIED TO KILL ALTINA AND IT RESULTED IN MILLIUMâS (temporary) DEATH. HE SHOWED NO SYMPATHY OVER KEEPING HIS GODDAMN SON CAPTIVE FOR WEEKS ON END WHILE HIS MENTAL STATE WAS FUCKING DETERIORATED. FUCK OSBORNE. NIHON FALCOM, THAT SHIT AINâT FUNNY. I DONâT CARE IF HE LOVED A WOMAN AND ONCE LOVED REAN. I DONâT CARE IF HE WAS ULTIMATELY DOING A GOOD THING. HELLS. FUCKING. NO.
Also also also also ALSO that shit with Black Alberich?? No??? Not everyone needs to have super secret super evil relatives???? Fucking stop????? AND THAT GEROG BULLSHIT????? (That mighta been three but stillâI hated it).
Anyway. Sorry and happy voting :-)

I am getting closer to finishing Trails of Cold Steel II and boy is it hard for me to play this game at the current point of the story. After what I fought was the final battle there is a lot more stuff happening and due to certain things happening in the plot, itâs super maddening and also super sad for me. I thought about a certain trope (too bleak, stopped caring) because I think this is part of what I feel like at the moment towards the Cold Steel series. Especially this little part of what is written here makes me very scared of even continuing to the third game.Â
(The screenshot is a bit cropped since I did not want to look at spoilers from III and IV since I am playing blind).
Like I bought Cold Steel III and IV, but if all that awaits me is despair and death, then oouch -.-). Idk...Â
I donât want to be spoiled, but is there hope or not?
#trails of cold steel#kiseki series#cold steel ii#i dont even know what to tag this since I dont want to see any kind of potential spoilers#in any case i am screaming at rean and everyone since a certain someones death#and f*** Osborne#very tired of this dude#go to gehenna

UM, EXCUSE ME, WHAT?
Heavy spoilers for a bunch of stuff, but if youâve played Cold Steel I and II, feel free to watch this and learn about something that youâll apparently need to know for Cold Steel III when it comes out later this year. Because you probably missed all of this information (I know I did!)

Prisoner Of Love (Ikesen Kenshin - NSFW)
Description: Can two victims of circumstance find their way to love? Warnings: NSFW/18+: Explicit/graphic language â reader discretion is advised.  Spoilers for the first half of Kenshinâs MS. Potential trigger warnings: angst, imprisonment, mild mentions of injuries, self-harm and death, self-loathing, anxiety, possessiveness (it IS Kenshin after all đ¤Ł), slight dub-con elements, profanity, vaginal intercourse, squirting Word Count: ~3100 words (~17 minutes of angst and smut) Authorâs Notes: Sending out a super giant thank you to the incredibly kind and gracious @azuchi-princessâ for commissioning this Kenshin piece from me.  I cannot tell you how honoured I am to have been entrusted with writing for your husbando! đĽ°đ It was an absolutely wonderful process working with you, and Iâm so glad to have been able to indulge in my need for angst and smut at the same time!
(SPOILER ALERT!) This story takes place shortly after Kenshin has MC (read: YOU!) placed behind bars as his âspoils of war,â but I have taken creative license in altering the events that occur afterwards.  Moreover, the perspective shifts between that of the readerâs and Kenshinâs in the hopes of delivering that optimal punch of angst đđźđ¤Ł
Please note the warnings listed above â especially the potential triggers â and avoid this read if anything makes you uncomfortable.  Otherwise, dear readers, I sincerely hope that you enjoy this piece! đ
Chapter I (Kenshinâs POV)
Betrayal.
Cutting deeper than the sharpest blade.
Unforgiving like Himetsuru-Ichimonji, severing the red string of fate as quickly as it is drawn from its scabbard.
So why was it that Kenshin still couldnât bring himself to hate her?
Footsteps echoing along stone walls in the bowels of Kasugayama Castle â the very place where he had her cast behind bars â Kenshin wanders, trapped in a hell from which there was no escape.
For the confines of the mind were impervious to even the God of Warâs sharpened steel.
And in between each beat of his thunderous heart, he hears her: gentle tears rolling down that delicate face to fall on packed earth, the groundâs inhospitable chill reaching up through limbs to rob even the final vestiges of warmth from bone.  Her every shuddering breath is a weight upon his chest, suffocating until Kenshin clings to the reins of reason holding him back from storming her cell like a madman, animated solely by the fire commanding him to see, to touchâŚ
âŚto love her.
Hands clenching into tight fists, Kenshinâs knuckles blanch whiter than his already pale skin when he slows to a stop. Â Round the corner and there sheâll be.
Woman of the Oda. Â The Devil Kingâs own.
She, who had lied in the same breath that commiserated with him as they waited for Sasukeâs return. Â She, whose tears left him dazzled, catching the light of the fire like precious stones even as their salt stung, seeping into his open wounds. Â She, who had held his hand within her own, caring not about sullying her perfect skin with his tainted blood.
Because tainted is what he is. Â It is what he deserves.
And yet, he canât help but see the moonlight in her gaze, shimmering like a spectre every time he closes his eyes. Â Canât stop himself from desiring the tender warmth of her smile. Â Still wonders at her fearless bravado in the face of a man who brought nothing but death and destruction upon friend and foe alike.
Isehime.
No.
No, he will not see her, Kenshin thinks, gaze frosting over as he wills the ice in his veins to freeze a heart he no longer wanted to feel. Â He walks away, forcing himself to believe that the sound of her sorrow growing faint was nothing more than mice in the walls.
Chapter II (Readerâs POV)
Ethereal moons beckon from scrolls depicting each of the four seasons â resplendent colours discordant against the drab stone walls on which they hang.
Cherry blossoms flutter against gold-foil skies; delicate petals frozen in time as they float across a folding screen.
Even the futon in the corner of your cell seemed fit for a princess at court, much more luxurious than the one in which you had slept at Azuchi.
The Dragon of Echigo had took it upon himself to see that his spoils of war would want for nothing, and yet he would deny you the one thing you truly desired:
The man himself.
Sasuke, Shingen and Yukimura would visit â sometimes together, sometimes in turn â graciously sharing their company for which you were so starved.  Your ninja friend swore with as much emotion as he could muster to do anything and everything possible to persuade his lord to release you, or at the very least, agree to see you.  Yukimura couldnât stop shaking his head, the expression on his face indignant to see you treated thus, âboar womanâ though you were.  As for Lord Shingen, he likened you to a bird in a gilded cage, trying to tempt you with offers of freedom and a ready smile on his face that surely wouldâve moved any woman to see itâŚ
âŚany woman but you, that is.
For in your eyes, there was only ever Kenshin â the man who came to your rescue time and time again without knowing your true identity. Â Intoxicating like the finest sake, each and every moment spent by his side became a precious embrace of a memory, emblazoned in your mind until it was impossible to forget:
The black cape that flowed from broad shoulders like a powerful wave, trailing behind him that night he saved you from those thugs in Azuchi. Â The way your feet dragged behind his footsteps, moving slow just to watch him cut swift through tall grass with all the seasoned grace of a dancer. Â His porcelain skin glowing from within as if lit by the light of his own moon.
And in his eyesâŚsorrow as unfathomable as the sea was deep, rising like smoke from sapphire and emerald in those rare moments the Dragon of Echigo let down his guard.  But alas, no more.
You had broken his trust.
How many nights have you lain awake, seeking out pinprick stars through the sliver of window high above your prison and thinking about how things might have been different? Â What if you had disclosed your relationship with the Oda at the very start? Â Would the press of the cold steel of his blade be more of a consolation against your neck than the heartbreak spreading from chest to limb every time you lay down to sleep?
Sleep?
No, that was not forthcoming these days â rest a luxury you couldnât afford until the moment you could face Kenshin for yourself and tell him that you never meant to hurt him, never meant to lie.  That though Nobunaga found you first, you had no ulterior motive in approaching Kenshin other than the fact that youâŚyouâŚ
âŚsimply couldnât stay away.
No matter what anyone tried to say about him.
For even on the battlefield, every nerve singed as the stench of freshly spilt blood filled your nostrils, you still couldnât tear your gaze from the one they revered as the God of War. Â Like an immortal stepping from an unfurling scroll, Kenshin moved with the fluid grace of a master painter wielding his brush, completely at one with his sword as he dispatched his enemies with a precision that terrified and awed all at once.
And when he held you in his arms that night â the same hand which had claimed countless lives bleeding into your own as you clasped it in prayer for Sasukeâs safe return â you had felt no fear; only the wish that time would stretch into eternity so that you might forever have him near.
âKenshin.â
You say his name onceâŚtwiceâŚthe syllables rolling off your tongue to echo down the hallway like a ghost, lonely and forgotten in the dungeons of Kasugayama Castle.  What was freedom to you when you couldnât bear to break the shackles chaining you to a god who would never look your way again?
Chapter III (Kenshinâs POV)
âKenshin.â
Her voice halts him in his tracks, one hand shooting out to rest upon the cool stone wall as Kenshin bolsters himself against the sudden weakness in his knees. Â When was the last time he heard her speak his name? Â Had it always sounded so melodic, caressing up the spine to curl gently upon the lobe of his ear?
That she is calling for him at a time when she shouldâve been fast asleep is a source of elation and anxiety all at once, She is thinking of me tempered by the dread in knowing that she wasnât getting the rest her body needed.  And slowly, slowlyâŚthe scales start to tip: if she didnât sleep, sheâd become too exhausted to eat.  And without eating, she wouldâŚ
âŚdie.
The nightmare would begin anew. Â Except this time, it would be her blood on Kenshinâs hands, spilling crimson over the scars left behind by Isehimeâs lifeless body.
Sheâll slip away from you like the other, the voice in his head chastises, full of malice as darkness begins unfurling from the corners of his mind, tightening the vice in his chest. Â They come hard and fast, thoughts tangling one over the other like a labyrinth of vines from which there was no escape:
Poison runs through your veins. Â Loving her would only doom the girl to misfortune and regret.
If she is not yours, could you possibly surrender her to anyone else?
You cannot outrun your curse. Â All those you hold dear will end up like Isehime: sleeping in the cold earth.
No one must lay eyes on her beauty, witness her elegance, know of the rare flower blooming in the depths of this dungeon.
No one but you.
Fist pulling back, Kenshin releases the full force of his strength in a punch to the wall. Â Bruised bone and shredded skin send blistering pain to interrupt the cacophony in his head, silence reigning supreme once more until
âKenshin?â
âŚshe calls for him again, voice coloured with anticipation this time.  He hears a shuffle, sees her in his mindâs eye â throwing off the covers of her bedding to press against the bars, straining to peek around the wooden slats that kept her from freedom.  Kept her from him.
âPlease, KenshinâŚis that you?â
He knows not why he does it, body moving before his mind is even aware. Kenshin had managed to make his way to her cell undetected every night since he put her there, standing silent in shadowy corners just to watch her sleep, allowing the rise and fall of her breath to soothe him with the knowledge that she was still very much alive.  But now, in a single moment of thoughtlessness, he had thrown it all away.
She gasps to finally see him and even the sound of that is beautiful, resonating clear like the note of an expertly plucked koto. Â His gaze falls on her tightened grip around the bars, follows the solitary tear gathering starlight as it rolls down her cheek. Â And when her eyes widen in horror to look upon the state of his injured hand, Kenshin feels it:
A shift deep within, barely perceptible but wholly significant, like ice cracking beneath the surface of a frozen stream.
And the rush of waters that follows drowns the lovers in a flood from which neither was capable of nor willing to escape.
Chapter IV (Readerâs POV)
Perhaps he really was a god, answering every prayer that ever slipped past noiseless lips to materialize before you in that prison. Â His white kimono is pristine beneath that black cloak, as if emphasizing the sanctity of his being, the unalterable distance between Uesugi Kenshin and a mere mortal such as yourself. Â But then the rivulets of red run down that swollen hand to tell you otherwise; the revelation bittersweet because maybe now, there was a way for you to be together, complicated though circumstances were. Â
So you reach for him through the bars and he complies, watching as you lay kisses upon bruised fingers, feeling the familiar sting of your tears as they seep into wounded flesh and broken hearts â full of sorrow, full of joyâŚand impossible to stop.
âPush me away.â
His voice is soft for the hard edges of his words. Â Head lifting, you meet those striking eyes, focused and still. Â Yet, you felt the storm brewing in those blue and green depths, turmoil barely concealed beneath the ice of his gaze. Â And there, standing before the man whose very blood stained your lips, you refuse.
Lightning flashes in those eyes and suddenly, his fingers are curling tight about the sleeve of your kimono, Kenshin pulling you close through the bars in one swift motion until the stilted rhythm of his breath is dancing hot over your skin. Â
âSay it. Â Say you hate me, that you want absolutely nothing to do with me. Â Do it now or elseââ
âNo. Â Never. Â How could I ever bring myself to hate the one I loveââ
The grimace on his handsome face cuts you off, the great Dragon of Echigo trembling at the very word, love, like it was dirty, taboo. Â And as the final threads of control slip from his grasp, Kenshin is moving once more without thought â his body a slave to the dictates of the heart. Â Yanking on the ring of keys hanging from his tapered waist, Kenshin throws open the door to your cell and in an instant, he is by your side.
âFine. Then Iâll make you hate me.â
His whisper is a promise.
The keys clatter as theyâre thrown to the ground, but all you could hear was the rush of blood in your ears, deafening with every pounding beat of your heart to feel his lips on yours for the very first time. Â The insistent tongue pushing into your mouth carries a hint of sake, the fervour of his kiss leaving you intoxicated and desperate for more.
Long fingers thread through the silk of your hair, Kenshinâs grip gentle yet firm as he angles your head to deepen the kiss, bringing you closer and closer until the end of his exhalation marked the beginning of your next breath. Â And hadnât it always been this way, you forever chasing after the mystery that was this beautifully broken man? Â The intensity of his want is a spell that bewitches, inexorably pulling you into the crucible of his desire, passion matching yours flame for burning flame until all else was extinguished.
Good and bad, right or wrong.
Words insignificant like ash in the face of this all-consuming love.
âHate me,â Kenshin begs, teeth sinking into your lower lip until the taste of your blood mixed with his.  âPleaseâŚor else Iâll never give you up.â
Open-mouthed kisses now trailing wet along the column of your neck, your fingers find purchase in his golden hair, pulling hard as you yield to the sensation of his breath moving lower and lower still. Â Kenshin groans, the sound resonating from deep within his chest to send a rush of heat that dampens the sacred space between your legs.
Body ready and heart set, your mind had been made up long ago. Â So you grasp onto those shoulders â broad and strong â to pull Kenshin up before you. Â And in the silent space between the beating of twin hearts, you say with a conviction so strong there could be no doubt,
âI am yours.â
The sound that catches in his throat is guttural, almost feral as those eyes of emerald and sapphire train on you with the intensity of a thousand suns. Â A sea of emotions flit across that handsome face, subtly shifting until one finally wins out:
Need.
You barely feel it though it mustâve taken considerable force to tear your obi off, the sumptuous kimono he gifted you with slipping from your shoulders as the God of War sets you upon the futon fit for a princess. Â Elegant even in haste, Kenshin disrobes with the grace of snow falling on frost-covered pine, revealing porcelain skin stretched over perfectly sculpted muscle that beckons to your every nerve.
And before the dungeonâs chill could rattle your bones, he gathers you into the heat of his embrace. Â Skin to skin, the arms wrapped around you tremble when he whispers, âIâve wanted you so desperately, I-I donât think I can hold back.â Â
Head falling back onto your pillow, you will Kenshin to see the sincerity, the surrender in the darkened gaze that reflects his very image.
âThen give me everything.  I wantâŚall that you are.â
It tears a breathless gasp from your lips, mouth drawn open in a silent scream when Kenshin fills you to the hilt with a single thrust â the thick, hard heat of his cock testing the limits of your body with its size. Â Equally skilled in bed as he was on the battlefield, the God of War is a force to be reckoned with, the swing of his hips graceful even as they connect with yours, ruthless in speed and intensity.
He moves within your body like he belongs, pulling out only to dive even deeper into slick depths until pleasure bloomed pink along your skin, the hardened tips of your breasts so enticing Kenshin couldnât help but take them into his mouth in greedy turn as he continued thrusting, harder and faster until your legs began to shake.
âOh god, Kenshin!  You feelâŚsoâŚgood...ahh!ââ
Pants and screams echo down darkened corridors, the sound of your pleasure in being taken this way resonating in the corners of every prison cell until you think to bite onto the sleeve of your kimono. Â But Kenshin just shakes his head, the sweat of exertion glistening on his body as his fingers move towards your mouth.
âNo, I wantâŚhmmâŚto hear you.  Every sound you make isâŚprecious to me.  Let it out.â Â
With that, he removes the embroidered fabric, lips pressing to yours to swallow every licentious moan for himself as he props your legs up against his shoulders. Â All of a sudden, like pieces of a puzzle sliding into place, the motion awakens sensations you never before knew existed.
Unable to scream with your loverâs tongue in your mouth, your body responds in the only other way it knew how: convulsing beneath Kenshin until he is forced to pull out, allowing a flood of your arousal to cascade past swollen lips, spilling down the insides of your thighs in a lewd display that wets the bedding beneath your entwined bodies. Â And yet,
âMore.  Please, KenshinâŚI want moreâŚâ
âŚyou were insatiable.
The sight, sound and smell of you so undone ignites a fire inside the warlord, his mind scrambled by lust. Â And when he slides into you once more, he fucks with absolute abandon, yearning for complete union even as he leaves you breathless to finally spill into your depths.
* * *
You awake to moonlight glowing soft beyond shoji screens and the rhythm of a heartbeat, measured and slow beneath your ear. Â The robe you wore was fresh and soft; vague recollections of Kenshin gently caressing your fatigued body with a washcloth filtering in and out of your thoughts. Â At some point, he mustâve carried you to his chambers, sleeping now as you were upon his chest.
Lifting your head, you gaze at your lover in repose. Â It fills you with affection to see him â heart tightening to bind you to this man. Â And as his muscular arm winds about your waist, you knew you would forever be a willing prisoner to his love.

Comrades-in-Arms .II
Warnings: Potential 5.x spoilers regarding Garlemald. Part [1] Imperial Garlemald | Leviâs Theme
âThe whole damn countryâs gone to hell in a hand-basket, boys. Now, I donât, and I mean this from the bottom of my heart, say this to be an alarmist but...just look at the facts. Losing royalty left and right. People disappearing in the dead of night. I mean I love this country as much as any true son but weâre eating ourselves from the inside out, and it doesnât seem to matter what side youâre on anymore. I know you can feel it. The noose tightening in around the neck. The cross-hairs on the back. Weâre coming up to the point of no return. Loyalist...or otherwise.â
The windstorm comes on much quicker than theyâd anticipated and it makes those last few malms a miserable journey for the small unit. Even fully suited the harsh winds cut through the layers of their like phantom swords and moving became a matter of necessity to keep the chill at bay. Even silver-spoon Leviticus found it necessary to walk eventually.
Companionable moods from even minutes before seemed to lessen at the same rate their visibility did. The snowy haze of the blizzard made seeing more than five fulms ahead a near impossible feat after a time and were it not for the pulsing red light of the old guard tower beacon ahead they mightâve surely been lost to the white.
Eventually, they came upon an impenetrable wall of steel that seemed to simply rise up out of the snow. It wasnât exactly the kind of sight that most would consider welcoming with its clinically grey exterior, and structured lighting that barely seemed to shine through the thick coat of hoarfrost that had built upon its metal surface. What bliss it would be to leave this place behind.
âNow, talk of insurrection is on the winds...and Iâm not saying I support it but I DO understand it. Youâre kidding yourself too, if you think Iâm the only one who sees how this is going to get. Everyoneâs thinking it, even if no oneâs out right saying it. I mean...civil war...When its neighbor against neighbor....friend against friend...Brother against brother...Itâs only a matter of time before you have to -really- start asking yourself -- Well, who can you really trust?â
A kind of tense silence seems to sweep over the convoy by the time the magitek vehicle rolls to a halt in front of the castellum gates. It starts as the usual routine first: the declaration of ranks, unit and business into a blue screen that takes their information. .
Albina quo Silvius. XIth Auxilliary. Supply drop.
The terminal flashes, and then beeps in acceptance of the credentials provided. With an almighty, groaning, screech of moving metal, the barricade begins to lower itself. Sinking into the earth like some kind of retreating monolith. The ice along its frame spider-webs and cracks, before falling away.
They are waved through, just past the barricades where two armed guards walk forward to greet them. Little more than a skeleton crew was necessary to keep the checkpoint appearing operational. Papers were exchanged and one guard points something out to verify it with the other. They nod, and then the first guard lifts his rifle up to Bastilleâs chest, and fires twice.
âTimes like this, might SEEM like you canât trust anyone at all. Like you got to keep your guard up to keep the knife from sticking in your back. Like its all you can do to keep it from twisting... You might even feel like youâre alone. Like the whole world is pitted against you. Well, Iâm here to tell you that you are NOT alone. Thereâs people you can trust. â
It was absolute chaos.
Gunfire erupts from behind them and the team scatters. Albina shoves Quintus just as the second guard opens a volley of fire where heâd previously been sitting. Her weapon is drawn, and she cuts down one of the soldiers before he can fire again.
Tatius tackles one of the castellum guards as two more flank them from the gates. Cicero dives for cover, taking Levi with him as he goes. He screams for Crispus to radio for help while theyâre pinned down by fire. Leviticus thanks the man by flossing the space between his ears with a bullet.
His unit starts to fall, one by one. Tatius manged to take on with him before he is pulled into a chokehold and he struggles until he doesnât. Everything happens so fast, Albina barely has time to process as she pulls her blade from the body of an imperial soldier. It begins to dawn on her though, as she turns to her treacherous fiance.
âWhat did you do?â
âMatter fact, theyâre right here in this very room. Take a look around boys, to the left, and to the right of you. Ahead and behind. Look around and witness them - your family! Us whoâve slept together. Whoâve bled together...Killed together. -Trust- in them. Your fellow brothers-in-arms. Trust...in me.â
She knows before theyâre even at each others throats. She knows the man sheâd intended to marry so well she empowers him in moments and backs him blade tip first into the caravan. She knows that somehow this is his fault and doesnât understand how she could have been so blind.
Leviticus only answers with a shameless smirk, but she catches the flick of his silver eyes and turns in time to be impaled by Crispus. He had always been quiet, and she had thought, dependable. She realized now, just not to her. Albina slumps to the ground. The battle is over and the damage done as quickly and as suddenly as a lightning strike.
The world starts to muffle and fade into black. Albina hears her fiance say âTook your sweet time.â As he brushes off his uniform and looks to the two remaining guards. He steps over her body, pausing long enough to tell her âConsider this an end to our engagement, darling. Itâs not that its me, itâs just that itâs you. Quintus -- you can come out from hiding now.â
Harsher blows couldnât be dealt as the young medic crawls out from the mud and snow, shivering as he stands and looks Albina in the eyes as they close. âR-really, Levi. Sh-she was your fiance.â
âI know! What was I thinking? Marriage never would have suited me.âÂ
âYou see, commitment is important. How long have we been at this -game-, Family? Four years? Five? Because thatâs what it comes down to. Our lives, are a -game- to...to these people! Heartless, and arrogant leaders who care more about their image than those who make them -look- good...Who are so quick to kill their own loyal brothers and sisters, if it makes them look good. Greedy, selfish leaders. Thatâs what they are.â
âLoad those supply crates in that freighter there. Weâll need all the money we can get across the border and these weapons will flip for a pretty gil piece there. Especially now.âÂ
Equipment is quickly transferred and stored within the cargo hold of a small airship, none of which Levi lifted so much as a finger for. The ship itself was weaponless luxury class and couldnât pass for militaristic if it tried. Too spacious. Too comfortable. Being royalty had its perks, and no one said escaping couldnât be done in style.
âDid we really have to...do all this?â Leviticus looked over to Quintus, who stood anxiously over the body of Bastille. He seemed like he was having second thoughts, and Levi couldnât have that.
âHaving doubts, are we? You know they never would have hesitated for us. Even my loving fiance was too committed to the country for us to ever work. It still hurt me, having to do this to them. Him though...I never liked Bastille. It might be terrible but..Itâs true. He always acted like he was...better than all of us. Better than you.â Bastille croaks and Levi considers it the definition of a corpse turning in its grave.
âI...oh jeez, I think heâs still alive..?â
Leviticus passes the young man a knife. âYou said you could kill for a bath, right? Well, how bad did you want it?â
"Was it those officers starving in the cold beside us while they shouted orders from the back lines? Hm? Was it them? Huddling in the trenches, never knowing if theyâd see the light of day? Do you think they care? What about the people. We serve citizens that donât even care for the sacrifices we make. Who spit on us when we marched in the cities. They donât know what we had to do, to survive. What we -will- do.â
They staged the scene, positioning the bodies of their fellows more deliberately. Stripped the castellum of its valuable supplies and spilled a trail of ceruleum around the encampment with whatever excess they could find.
A more immediate guess once discovered might lead the assumption of an encounter with savages and he relied on the fact that resources would be stretched too thin to make an in-depth investigation. It wasnât perfect but it would do.
The four loaded themselves onto the new convoy, an airship no bigger than standard fare civilian transport and luggage but it was enough for them and their haul. At the hatch, Leviticus turned to look behind him. Struck a match off his chest, and tossed it into the shimmering pool of oil. Blue fire spreads like spilled ink over thin cloth. Leviticus leaves brimstone in his wake, and it makes him feel divine.
If he can do this, he can do anything.
âThe hand that claims to feed, has only ever taken away. Everything we did, we did for nothing. But I promise you...if you follow me...if you trust me...trust the man on your left, and on your right...Nothing, is whatâs going to stand in our way.
The ship full of defectors takes off from a blazing outpost and veers off into the distant sky.
                                           To be continued...                                                   Â

Unorganised thoughts on Trails of Cold Steel II:
they still havenât told me why itâs Class VII
So I liked this WAY more than CS1, thumbs up
I am annoyed that the only new location was Ymir (WHAT A COINCIDENCE that all the important places in the war were specifically ones Rean had been to already)
I just really wanna go to Parm idk
Bless Anton for showing up right at the end and giving me just enough AP to make A0
(fav Anton and Ricky subplot yet, god I love those guys)
I LOVED how tactile all the reunions were! I love it when fictional characters hug it makes me happy
I found it extremely funny that the final boss straight up tells the characters âhey, thereâs literally no point to fighting me, youâll gain nothing except closure I guessâ like thatâs VERY on the nose and meta for a final boss
The game does have some real ending fatigue though, I donât think we needed the epilogue
I did like the final boss though - up until that point, I had become so good at using my Dream Team of Rean, Elliot, Machias and Jusis (or Nuke-sis, as I call him, for his insane levels of arts damage output) that everything had got kinda dull for me. But final boss was actually a challenge, I had to think rather than just using the strategy that had worked on everything else
Which was Rean delays, Elliot heals/deals arts damage, Jusis drops arts nukes, and Machias does miscellaneous support/uses his link ability to keep Jusisâs EP topped up
Oh yeah I had them linked through pretty much the whole game and they hated it and it was super funny
So OH MAN, in their linked victory battle ending screen thing, Jusis goes ânot bad, you actually held your own for onceâ
And itâs a little muffled, so the first time I heard it I swear I thought Machias responded with âyou know what you can hold? Your damn top! and I dropped my controller. Had to go out of my way to win another battle with a link attack because no, no way-
He
Um
He said âtongueâ
Anyway, characters!
Rean: Immediately upon starting up the game I found Ride Along Estelle in my DLC inventory and equipped it in the hopes that it would inspire Rean to be a better protagonist. It... kinda worked? I donât hate him anymore, and I was pretty hyped to learn he was Osbourneâs son
And then Lloyd showed up immediately afterwards and I was like âoh wait hereâs a protagonist I actually LOVE, nvm bye Rean lolâ
Alisa: I literally never use Alisa unless the game makes me lol she was there and I donât hate her but also I cannot remember a single interesting thing she did. Even during her one bit of plot relevance she was overshadowed by Angelica itâs hilarious that the marketing makes her out to be the deteuragonistÂ
Elliot: A GOOD BOY who served me incredibly well with his off the charts healing crafts, I canât believe I started CS1 not liking him much and thinking him useless. I love the little dance he does in his idle animation
Laura: I still like Laura, I wish she was more plot relevant. I donât feel strongly about her, but sheâs always a welcome addition to any scene
Machias: Unpopular opinion probably but I really like him, even if his outfit in this game was awful. So are his alt outfits. Fashion disaster. I bought him contact lenses from a shady highway business man because he looks better without glasses. I made him ludicrously bulky, if heâd just had some kind of taunt craft to protect Jusis (squishy mage) with heâd be a perfect tank
Iâm a fan of him in a âthis is my trash sonâ kind of way lol
Emma: Uhhh kinda boring which is impressive since sheâs actually important and pseudo-related to Vita and all. Btw I guessed she was a witch in chapter goddamn three of CS1 after reading the folklore book, and I find it extremely wild that itâs either a dragged out, foregone conclusion if you have read the book, OR witches even existing is completely out of nowhere if you havenât
Jusis: My favourite, because Iâm basic. But like, heâs seriously the most interesting of the guys, and I made him Reanâs best friend (only one I got to rank 7 with lol). And his bonding event in Bareahard was so gooood!
I find it incredibly funny that he insists he and Machias arenât friends because 1. Yes you are and 2. Do you even have any other non-Rean friends, guy? You literally never hang out with anyone else unless itâs plot related
Still low key ship it. Enjoy that Rean does too, apparently. Still reeling over their Trial Chestâs quote
His second S-Craft is ridiculous looking
Fie: Most interesting girl, love how she just doesnât get flustered ever, funniest character, best girl in the game, what the HELL was that outfit
Gaius: I keep forgetting Gaius exists lol. I donât dislike him, but heâs not very interesting to me. Heâs Zin, or Noel
Millium: Man do I want to know more about Millium. Her whole thing about learning to cry... so sad and SO fascinating. What is the deal with her and Altina?!?
Sara: I hated Sara at the start of CS1. Now I adore her. God sheâs just the best. Please let her interact with Schera please please please Falcom
Towa: Cutest! Sheâs so cute and I still love her and I did her final event even though she is TOO GOOD for Rean! She got to be a captain! I love her!
As for more minor characters - still think Angieâs great, just wish she wasnât kinda creepy about her love of girls, deeply dislike that the game ship teases her and GEORGE, who I still otherwise find inoffensive but also, you know, male, Alfin is great, Toval is great too and I still canât get over him being Toby, stop teasing Claire with Rean let there be one woman who isnât into him please, oh good Sharonâs here and they donât do that with her and sheâs awesome also canât believe I used to not like her, more Olivier always please, same with Mueller, Celine is Morgana from P5 except better in every conceivable way, Crow :(, all the Ouroboros lot are great as always, and Elise is easily my least favourite character in this franchise and can get in the sun for all I careÂ
I read a transcript of the drama CD and hey Reanâs dad can also get in the sun for saying that his adopted son isnât good enough to marry his biological daughter like where do you even start-
I love that Iâve gone from reacting to Ouroboros appearances like âoh shit oh noâ to going âoh shit itâs these fucking clowns (affectionate) againâ
Still love Beryl. Also love Lambert
When they mentioned âMuellerâs friendâ I thought it would be Julia and I was so excited and then so disappointed that it was Neithardt who I still donât like
Elliotâs dad looks ridiculous riding on top of that tank
I loved riding the bike around SO MUCH, even if it took me a while to get a hang of the controls Â
Aurelia Le Guin is just Edelgard Fire Emblem, right? And Bardias is Claude? Except I guess this game came first, so like, other way around
Man I loved flying around on the Courageous. Also I FINALLY got a map, all I wanted in CS1 was to see a map of the countryÂ
However, Act 1 was definitely my favourite part - the sequence where the kids have to sneak through the railway lines under the bridge to get to Garrelia is one of my favourite parts of this entire series. I kind of wanted the whole game to just be this group of teenagers trying to lay low and survive a civil war while also travelling and helping out from place to place
I uh... I want JRPG Life is Strange 2
Why is there a snowboarding minigame. I mean, I loved it, but... why is it there?
I still really miss the old battle orbment designs from Sky. The ARCUSs just arenât as cool :(
I watched the secret Black Records scene on YouTube and I am so happy to finally have an explanation for Rosine, it was really bothering me that she seemed so out of place at a military academy
Iâm very very hype to play CS3 based on the spoilers I have for who will be making appearances...
:D
Seriously why is everything in these games azure though just say blue-

Trails of Cold Steel II
I finished it! (Well - not completely, I still have the last dungeon to do - 17 FREAKING LEVELS - WHAT THE HELL?!!)
But hey, if the save actually transferred into III, I would be busting my ass to complete it.
Eh, never mind, it will get done at some point, I just really wanted to get a head start on III.
Anyway - my thoughts - undercut (in case of spoilers)
It broke me in so many ways.
It made me laugh hysterically - especially when it comes to Machias and Jusis, especially with the phantom thief stealing Machias.
And Olivert - never change - his message on the requests was hysterically, especially the one where he says to think of Jusis weeping with concern over the people of his town. That took me a while to actually get back up.
(I wish the team could have commented on his comments though. Imagine Jusisâ reaction to that comment).
But then there was Celdic - guys -- you could have at least warned me! I broke down crying over that town. I was ready to rip off heads for that. And for the Market Manager, dear god, why?!
But, dun dun, I got my Romantic moment with Emma and I even got an âI love youâ from Rean to his adorable witch.
Now I wonder why I canât transfer my II save into III
Ps - I also picked Emma for E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G as usual because sheâs my witch and she helps to dominate the battlefield.
Even got Rean to check her out in her swimsuit outfit and got called out by Sara *oops*
But, while Iâm swooning over Rean/Emma, I ended up swooning over some other pairings - for example, Neithart and Fiona - there was something there...plus I also ended up shipping Alfin and Towa - not really sure why, but I canât help it (Even though Iâm a major sucker for Alfin and Elise)
But I got my due for giving Celine all those milk! Rean finally got to pet her again!!!! Damn it, it so freaking long (almost a game itself) just to get that scene but seriously, I knew I would have fallen in love with Rean and Celine and I was right *Fist bump everyone!*
But seriously, Millium and Fie were so adorable together, and Millium giving Rean high-five was one of the highlights (even though she tells Machias that he is growing before her eyes and he points out that sheâs younger than him. so adorable).
Heehee and my battlegroup changed for this game.
I fell in love with Rean/Emma and Laura/Machias. They were getting critical left and right. Seriously - they were awesome on the field. I need to try and do a playthrough (probably nightmare) in ToCSI with those four (problem is, you have the field trips and that tend to take my characters *readEmma* away.
Anyway, on with the third game I go and hopefully I get my hands on Emma soon!! Because damn it, I want her back and I better get a damn good romantic scene with her.
And this game better transfer into the 4th one. They were to send out an update to let me transfer II into III, well, I wonât complain.
And I hope the 4th one comes out over here soon. The way the games are going, I have a feeling I might break again.

So, Iâve finally finished Trails of Cold Steel 3
Um, spoilers. Massive spoilers. Allllll the spoilers.
...What the fuck was that ending?! Like, that cliffhanger was even worse than the one in the first game! Oh god, if they donât bring Trails of Cold Steel 4 here, Iâm going to be infinitely pissed off.
That being said, some general thoughts:
1. Nice to see that the redux of the motorboat incident did not turn to be shit like it did in the first game. I ran into a post asking why folks hated Alisa, but not Juna for the same thing. Thereâs a slight thing that I donât think folks realize, and Iâm going to bold it for emphasis: When Juna apologized to Kurt, she never brought it up again. Alisa kept bringing it up, even after she apologized. There. Thatâs the difference. It made Alisa sound like a hypocrite and made her apology worthless whereas Junaâs apology turned out to be far more sincere and meaningful.
2. Gaius finally got some characterization and I am beyond glad for it. He spent two full games just being there, but now, heâs actually faced some change and some growth. I am beyond impressed with how he has changed and it honestly made me want to use him in battle way more.
3. Cedric is the fucking worst. I get where heâs coming from in terms of never wanting to be weak ever again, but he is seriously an asshole and I wouldâve loved to kick his ass in this game to take him and his sanctimonious attitude down several pegs. Oh well. Probably next time.
4. I love all of the new Class VII, with Musse and Ash probably being my favorites. It took me a little bit to warm up to Juna after The Motorboat Incident II: Electric Boogaloo, but by the end of the first half of the 2nd Chapter, I was on board with her and loved her immensely.
5. If there is a negative to this game, I would honestly say that I could nickname it Exposition Dump III: The Final Dimension because... hoo boy, this gameâs cut scenes and explanations can go on for-fucking-ever, even with high-speed on. It doesnât help that what the game explains is important because some of us (like myself) havenât played the other Trails games and two of those games havenât even made it to the States as of yet (and those games have everything to do with the incidents in Crossbell), so the exposition is absolutely needed to explain everything.
6. Bless Evergreens, the X-Stregas, the Zeus Gem, and enough Evade gems for turning Kurt into a Fie 2.0 easily. Pair him up with Fie set up close to how he is set up and theyâre both lethal and dangerous. Out of all of Class VII, he was my favorite to play with, just because he was built for speed.Â
7. What is Musseâs deal? Rean has her pretty pegged as some of skilled player in Xanatos Speed Chess or something along those lines. The fact that sheâs actually an heiress to the most powerful Noble family in this game only makes her more dangerous than pegged. But I have to admit that putting the focus on her and making her look more suspicious did draw some attention away from Ash. I was expecting her to be a witch, given her suspicions and knowledge. Turns out sheâs not, but damn, well played, Musse. Iâm still wondering what your deal is.
8. Osbourne is one evil, rotten son of a demon and I canât wait to kick his ass either.
9. Fuck George and his evil ass. Please let me kick his ass next game too, for Towaâs sake.
10. When are Crow and Rean getting married? And if not them, Iâm expecting marriage between either Rean and Elliot or Rean and Emma, maybe even Rean and Gaius? (No, seriously, that character development made him rise to the top to the point that I kind of ship Rean with Gaius now). Then again, Iâm pretty much on Team Anyone Else but Alisa or Elise.
Those are my thoughts.
