In the Realm of the Damned (Vampire Hunter D)| 2024 | Traditional inks/CSP When in doubt, drown your sorrows in elaborate fanart! More of my favorite anime dhampir in his big stupid hat (affectionate). Inked on paper. Corrections, color, and retro, folded-poster-that-came-with-your-DVD overlays done in CSP. It had been a long time since I inked a full piece by hand, with washes and everything, and I had to re-learn a lot of forgotten tricks. But ! I've loved returning to physical media, even with the challenges it presented, and want to do more steps away from the computer over time.
Is it convenient? No! Is it good for me? Yes!
Anything for anime men.

Wake up, little dreamer
You've fallen asleep again
Wake up, little dreamer
There's no use in trying to pretend
Darling, don't you see?
That these stories only exist in your dreams

📜✒️When Paper Kisses Ink✒️📜
This drawing was finished last night, the effects and filters were done today so that's that, it's also heavily inspired off of traditional ink paintings, may not look like it at first, but it is. I think I'm going to draw Captain Song next, because I've been thinking about it.
Also, the title is just for aesthetic purposes, this isn't ship art. No lore for me to share about Nina or Mangkhut today, because her backstory is a work in progress.

BIOGRAPHY
( cw  ;  brief/vague mention of parental death )
The Mori family lineage comes from the sea. Salt in their veins, eyes steady like the horizon. A third generation Japanese-American, third generation sailor, born and raised by the seafront, and toiled to stay there. Hiroshi didn’t always plan to fall into line with the rest of the men in his family. When he was a kid, he wanted to venture off into the world, to some big city; to be his own boss, a big name artist who has art in museums, and his art on the cover of magazines. But little by little it was chipped off of him like worn paint. His families disapproval, the way his dream tore his mother and father’s marriage apart. Always fighting over where he belonged in the world. dreams aren’t worth it when they disappoint and devastate those around you, he decides. Right out of high school, he works with his father; a fisherman with the Sawyers, long time friends of the family, diligently. A young boy amongst the men of the sea. He never went on to college like most of his friends, and any art he did was only in his free time. And he might have stayed that way forever. In a perfect world, being a simple fisherman would have been enough for him, enough to make his family proud. He could continue being a simple, salt of the earth man, to take care of his ailing father and sweet mother. Continue seeing them day in and out, to work with the Sawyers. He found himself a love, a light of his life that functioned as a lighthouse (wc). She kept him grounded, she helped him forget just how unhappy and stagnant he felt. He poured so much of his unhappiness and discontent into her, and she soaked it up like a sponge. And when his fiancé then clearly would never stop asking him to finally follow his dreams, to let his father’s wishes for him go and be who he wants to be, he shrank away from her. He called off the marriage, he called off his heart. His father was elderly, the Sawyers were happy with his contributions. He didn’t want to be happy at the expense of others. So he let his love go. And he stuck to his guns.  But when his father passes away a few years later, it rocks his world. His old man died proud of him, Hiro can at least say that much for himself. But… what else is there? He can’t admit out loud that his ex-fiance is right, but he feels it in his heart. Now that he’s let the love of his life go, he can finally admit it– years late but better than never. He can admit his ex-fiance was always right.  His heart had been empty, his eyes tired, his dreams forever washed to the wayside. He can’t do it anymore. He puts in his resignation only a year after his father dies. At the age of 25, Hiro finally gives himself permission to be the man he wants to be. He presents his work to museums, he posts it online, he even goes to the ink riot to train and put himself into art. He’s a late bloomer, but he’s still attempting to let himself be happy. A difficulty. His greatest enemy is himself. Every time his mother calls with that sad, disappointed voice, every time he sees the Sawyers, he second guesses himself. Is the work he does now any more important than what he was doing before? No, but it feels better, it frees his soul. Even still…There’s a conflict within him, between his nature and his desire.

Here is my inking pack for Procreate!
It features several wonderfully textured, slightly sloppy (maybe very) brushes to get a realistic look with your digital art!
✒️ Link at the top 🖊️
Includes…
14 Inking Brushes
1 Ink Wash Brush
2 Drippy Stamps
and 4 High-Res Paper Textures
✒️💜🖌️
When I was making these I aimed to emulate the bumpy look of fountain pens, streaky organics of brush pens, and delicate precision of fine-liners. Some have a dried out texture, and others have a subtle grain.
And with the ink wash, drip stamps, and paper textures, you can take that realism even further!

🌟Introducing myself🌟
Tumblr media
Hi new friends! My name is Nova Pax. I am a nearly 30 non-binary bard, i.e. a witch and poet. I've been writing since I was a child, but only became a witch in 2016. I consider myself a Modern Traditional Witch (see Weave the Liminal by Laura Tempest Zakroff) and am devoted to both Persephone and Brigid. I enjoy doing divination and sigil magick as main parts of my practice, but am also exploring more devotional aspects to incorporate. As a poet, I often write about queerness, neurodivergence, grief, and spirituality. My work can be found in Ink&Nebula, Sonder Midwest, Tickets to Midnight, and The Gorgon's Guide to Magical Resistance.

I am diagnosed AuDHD and DID after being misdiagnosed for 17 years. My special interests are Pokémon (Pikachu is my forever Partner Mon), Marvel (Carol Danvers is my queen), pop punk (The Wonder Years for life), and Tangled. My autism and dissociative diagnoses are fairly recent, so I might blog about learning to live with them both.

VolpeBlue‘s fountain pen is alight with gothic inspiration ✒️ If you’re into some supernatural horror, do look forward to her latest comic project. All traditional ink!

Let's get the ball rolling, shall we? Meet Walter & Agnes, the prominent characters of the comic I'm working on. Walter comes from the city, he's a quiet and intelligent youth, curious and thirsty for knowledge, following his late's father footsteps as a ghost hunter. Agnes is soft-spoken and elegant, kind and reserved, with a deep sense of duty. She may seem the perfect woman of high society, but coming from a family of hunters, she bares secrets of her own... Prologue pages coming soon! - Main Blog -

The Literary Tarot Major Arcana - Alternates, Ink, Other
The Moon - The Rabbit in the Moon
Card Backs
Five of Ink - Sir Percy Blakeney, The Scarlet Pimpernel
Ten of Ink - Hester Prynne, The Scarlet Letter
Tarot Cloth
0 - VIII / IX-XVII / XVIII-Alternates
The deck and a booster pack of alternate Major Arcana cards are available for preorder now, plus the artbook, tarot cloth, select postcards and a cute little pin!
If you want to see more about any individual card, the links over their names will take you to the reasoning behind each card’s subject and design, plus WIPs from the design process!
The tarot cloth and the card backs both depict the deck’s four suits: Ink, Quills, Light, and Parchment. Explanation of how they correspond to the traditional suits below cut, if you’re curious.
The Literary Tarot being themed around classic works of literature, we divided the Minor Arcana into the different components involved in creating such a work: the tool one writes with; the ink that makes the words material; the pages that hold these words; and the light that must illuminate the page for anything to be read or written.
✒️Swords become Quills: the suit of action, change, and communication, relating to how we parse and structure the world. Quills were chosen because they represent the act of turning ideas into something tangible, structuring the chaos of your own mental landscape into something that exists outside of yourself. Whatever comes of your ideas, for better or for worse, it begins with you picking up whatever tools you require and setting yourself to the task of realizing them. As a bonus, Swords is also traditionally a suit associated with air, which meshes nicely with the feathers quills are made from; and a suit of double-edges, visually upheld by a feather’s split-down-the-middle structure.
⚫️Wands become Ink: the suit of passion, inspiration, and willpower, and above all, creativity. Ink in this deck represents the unlimited, fluid potential of inspiration. An inkwell holds entire novels, poems and worlds in potentia; it could become anything. It waits simply to be given form. In the deck, this suit is depicted with the most variability among the Minor Arcana - while the others have set motifs, Ink is worked into the illustrations in many forms, a nod to the suit’s focus on originality and changeability.
📜Pentacles become Parchment: the suit of material concerns, and the impact we can have on the physical realm. Parchment represents the means by which our inner world interact with the outer world: ideas committed to the physical page can be replicated, shared, and collected by others, becoming something tangible to people you may never even meet. But the satisfaction of holding a final draft comes hand in hand with the material hurdles of creating it, the format specifications and editing and other hoops you must hypothetically jump through. Parchment is a suit concerned with your resources: turning matters over from the dreamer to the realist, taking stock of what you have to work with, and what’s possible and sustainable based on that.
🕯Cups become Light: the suit of emotion and intuition. Where Swords/Quills deals with making the internal world external, Light is all about how we bring external influences into our internal lives. The suit has some overlap with Wands/Ink, in that both touch on imagination, but where Ink is the idea driving a story, Light is its heart, the emotional core. But Light is not just required for the creation of a story, but for the consumption of one. The finished book is illuminated, page by page, as the reader goes through it - in the same way the original manuscript was lit as it was written, page by page. It’s a suit that heavily emphasizes empathy, compassion, and how one reacts to others, which we thought meshed very well with the experience of being completely transported by a story, understanding the characters’ emotions and their worlds as if they were your own.
