After Final Resting Place, a lot of fic writers grappled with whether Nureyev intended his invitation to sound like an ultimatum (run away with me now or I'll leave forever) and usually they fell on the side of him not meaning it quite that way.

Following the Next Page I propose that is WAS an ultimatum, just not for Juno, for Nureyev.

He couldn't stay, he couldn't stop, but he loved Juno. His only hope was that Juno willing to get on that ride. It was selfish, but it was his only chance. Now Nureyev is asking the opposite of Juno for the exact same reasons. He loves him.

Relistened to What Lies Beyond (part 1) today and had a terrible thought during the wedding vows...

Knowing what we know now about Slip and the Executives and what they did to Nureyev, what do you think was going through his mind when Buddy said this:

When Buddy describes feeling as though she's in a dream? I can imagine the panic, the kick of his flight response. That's the last thing he really hears from them before he disappears. It's almost a confirmation that he can't stay, he doesn't belong here.

And he probably shares Buddy's fear, that he'll wake up one day and find out that he's been tricked again, that Juno and the rest of the Family were all just another dream. A pretty lie, a fabrication of his mind.

look look, you're not wrong and it was funny

but if I can offer a tiny defense of poor Juno (who'd had a tough month) one time he swallowed a rock and spontaneously developed mind-reading, another time a soup obsessed old lady grew tentacles and tried to kill him, and another time he drove out of town for like 72 hours and came back to his whole home neighbourhood having been demolished and rebuilt and everyone was running on mind control chips. That's without talking about the shapeshifting robot.

Yo totally random and highly unlikely thought, but what if Slip is alive? What if this season ends with him showing up at Junos door step asking for help. What if Nureyev is in trouble and they have to work together to save him? Wouldn’t that be neat.

Enough of us noticed that Nureyev seemed particularly stressed during the Mega-Ultrabots of Cyberjustice (looked the title up because I never get it right) even before the mystery call that a LOT of fic (my own included) focus on the broken leg, Nureyev feeling trapped or incapable. That's all still valid but...

Shapeshifting robot. Something that could look like Juno but wasn't Juno. Did Nureyev wake up? Did he know something was wrong? Was Rita the next the person to say his name, making him sure he was truly in the real world?

Idk if anyone has brought it up, but I decided to relisten to S3 after getting round to S4 like a year later, because I miss my crime family okay?

And it stuck out to me at the end of The Man In Glass, knowing what we know now about Slip and Nureyev's debts, how excited Nureyev gets when Buddy tells him about the family's plan to steal the Curemother Prime.

I just... The idea that he may have access to the one thing with the potential ability to cure any illness, to possibly be able to bring someone back from the very brink of death, after 20 years of carrying these debts and this guilt with him.

it was so terrible to see him so low, and the way he cries while they escape kills me

imagine spending years pushing back the person that you used to be, only to be fed drugs directly into your system again while in captivity . he is so ashamed of the unnatural disaster and then the people most dear to him see him in this state .. man
