Kitten Regressor! Alastor Headcanons!

Ft. Auntie Rosie!! :D

🐾 Kitty alastor is definitely the temperamental type. He will refuse to interact with you if he doesn't get to know you first and will only interact if he comes up to you first.

❤️ Little Alastor is also extremely picky on who gets to touch/pet him. His cg or Auntie Rosie are the ONLY ones allowed to touch him, especially without asking.

📻 He isn't into playing in the typical way you'd think he'd do. He's the kind where he'll "hide and stalk" whatever he deems as his "prey" and attack it when he feels ready! He's a lil kitty hunter!

🐾 Because he's a cannibal it can be a bit difficult to get him to eat foods especially the stuff he's usually used to. BUT, Auntie Rosie always has some snacks handy! Just a pinky finger or two maybe x]

❤️ If it's naptime, Alastor will ONLY allow himself to be tucked in and put down for sleep if you cuddle up, hold him and pet him until he's snoozing away (his cg is NOT allowed to move until he's awake again)

📻 When Alastor is upset he's not the crying type, he lashes out and isolates. He can be a lil violent that's because he doesn't know how else to express himself when he's so deep in kittyspace! Give him time/patience. All he needs is love and safe space ❤️

🐾Not necessarily a kitty alastor headcanon but I like to think he'd play with his shadow self when he's alone! He's not fond of many people in that headspace so why not? ^^

❤️ Alastor isn't a fan of pacifiers when he's regressed BUT he does like chew toys like teethers! Especially the ones with liquid in them! The only issue is getting some that his pointy teefies won't puncture :"]

📻 Kitty Alastor doesn't like talking much BUT his personality is very similar to how the Cheshire cat would act! (And he absolutely loves watching Alice in Wonderland for that exact reason too! But only on vhs)

🐾 He absolutely does make muffins but only if no one is looking

❤️ He loves to play dress up with his Auntie Rosie! She'll play his favorite music on the radio and talk to him for hours and hours while dressing him up in a outfit she "just had to see him in"

📻 Alastor has a hard time expressing himself and saying "I love you" more than anything so! How does he get around this? A slow double blink and a soft head but to show he loves his cg❤️

The Maid and The Elf

Hi, I have a story on AO3 Called The Maid and the Elf which is a Bright Fan Fiction Focusing on the my own OC’s with some main characters in the film coming to play.  I just wanted to post the first chapter here but if you want to read the rest of the chapters. Chapter 1

The ride into the elven neighborhood was far from silent as Amanda had hoped. It wasn’t that she wasn’t expecting it but more of that she had hoped that in the early morning that she could enjoy some semblance of peace within it but it seemed to be the exact opposite.  She leaned against the seat and closed her eyes. She was glad, she had taken her medication before getting on the bus today. The smell of sweat, alcohol, and perfume wouldn’t have been overwhelming to her especially right after she had a migraine. When the bus began to slow, Amanda began to rise with the others following them out of the door and onto one of the nearby streets. They all walked in lines as they entered the well-guarded neighborhoods near the elven district. Amanda kept a steady pace as she made herself grit through the aching pain as she moved towards the farthest house in the neighborhood.

It was also one of the more expensive houses. A beautiful Classical style house painted in white and detailed with a dark grey roof with beautiful roman columns and pediments. As she walked up the neat but natural stone walkway of the house towards the large white fence that protected their yard. Amanda reached out her hands across the planted flowers that circled the gate; she picked up the newspaper that laid hanging from the mailbox.

She unlocked the service door with her key before placing her purse and outdoor shoes within the closet and her indoor heels on. Amanda moved quickly washing her hands and grabbing items from the pantry and refrigerator. As she began to set out ingredients for the small breakfast for the family they worked for Amanda could hear the awakening footsteps of those above. As she set small scones into the oven, the shower turned on and as she placed the pot of oatmeal to boil, she could hear the sound of clothes being picked up from their drawers. And, she chopped up the fresh fruits and blended the fresh cinnamon. She could hear the sound of heavy footsteps as they walked across the floor above she hurried towards the dining room where she set the newspaper along with the table and ready the babies high chair in the corner.

When she knew the oatmeal was finished and the scones were golden brown. Amanda set them up neatly and beautiful upon their plates and bowls. She carried them carefully to the table being extra careful not to spill the meal upon herself or the floor. When she heard the clicking of heels, Amanda kept her head down and set the spoons upon either side of each bowl. The first member of her employer was Lady Syvais. Syvais was a tall blonde with light ice blue eyes and clear white skin. She was dressed in a beautiful red sheath dress. Her make up was impeccable as usual and for a moment Amanda couldn’t help but feel jealous because she knew that she would never look like that. She was human and humans just couldn’t pull off that near ethereal look like elves could. She was the first to take a seat. She gave no smile or no thanks; just a simple bend forward and taste of the oatmeal. That initial taste of that oatmeal always made Amanda worried because it was a walk the plank moment. It was a moment when Amanda could possibly lose her job just because the Oatmeal wasn’t seasoned or the fruit wasn’t as crunchie. When she put the spoon down, Amanda tensed. But instead of her dismissing Amanda. Syvais turned to look up the stairs and watch as her husband brought down their young daughter. Syvais didn’t smile or greet her husband but instead, she simply looked at her daughter and husband with a distant almost disapproving look before turning back to her food. Amanda tried not to swallow and show her unease but she could feel the tension in the air. It was a heavyweight upon her own frail emotions and she couldn’t help but which to exit the room.  A soft laugh echoed for a moment drawing Amanda’s attention to the little girl in Lady Syvais’s arms. Arien was a beautiful baby girl who was gifted with that unique eye color associated only to elves. She was chubby but adorably sole with platinum blonde hair like her mother. She reached out from her father’s arms for her mother but the woman only seemed to ignore her.

That made Amanda a little upset and melancholy. She had remembered when her own mother uses to do those things. At least, Her first mother anyhow. She remembered asking for attention to only have it ignored or turned away. Airen reached for her mother again, this time crying a little louder and this time Amanda heard Almar’s deep voice. He spoke in övüsi towards Syvais then and from the tone, it didn’t sound exactly happy. What transpired was a shouting match in övüsi that made Almar hand off his daughter to Amanda and the two elves leave the room.  Amanda rubbed the child back as she watched the girl's parents disappear into another room.

The little girl looked back at Amanda and reached for her cheek, her need for attention now met by someone she knew. Someone she had at least some close relationship with that was similar to her mothers. Amanda gave the baby a soft smile before she moved towards the table and began to feed spoonfuls of cinnamon and apple oatmeal to her. She hummed with praise as Adrien ate with gusto. Amanda had first started when Sylvais had been pregnant with Airen. Elven pregnancies were strenuous upon their bodies. And, Since Elves had also had such a difficult time getting pregnant. It seemed it was best for the family to hire a housekeeper while Slyvais was pregnant. But, Now that Airen was here Amanda couldn’t help but feel as though she had overstayed her presents here.

Amanda was halfway finished feeding Airen when Alamar returned to the room. Airen gave a happy smile completely ignoring the spoonful of oatmeal for her father. Almar reached out taking Airen from Amanda’s arms and walking out of the room. Then the place was empty and silent, Amanda was left alone with an empty bowl of oatmeal and the feeling of being completely alone.

She sighed, cleaning up the room and moving the full bowl of oatmeal to the side so that she might eat after she finished cleaning up the house. The house was a typical two-story with actually very little mess as Elves weren’t a messy race but sure enough, they weren’t incapable about leaving messes especially children. The work went by quickly. There were very little clothes and toys left around and mostly what took up most of her time was the news. About two months, a cop was shot in the robbery of a bodega. Usually, That sort of thing didn’t draw her attention because sadly these things happened a lot in L.A  but there was something about that cop, and no matter what the name Daryl Ward wouldn’t leave her head. Amanda finally copped it up to her natural obsessive behavior of anxiety and tried to distance herself with something better to do such as doing the laundry. By the afternoon, she was starving and took to her bowl of oatmeal with gusto before then beginning her way into making dinner preparations. Elves were scientifically apex predators and were taken to eating larger amounts of meat then plants compared to humans or orcs. So Most of the meals involved a large roast, steak, or fish that the family could consume equally with smaller portions of veggies, fruit, or grain. Today’s menu was a large Prime Rib served with Mash Potatoes and Glazed Carrots.

She was stabbing holes into the roast so that she could add seasoning and butter into the dish when she felt a searing headache take hold. She grasped for the edge of the island as the pain moved from the center of her head towards her eyes, making them ache. She gasped as the ache became so intense that it caused her to drop the knife in the sink and run to the bathroom that lay open across from the kitchen. She slammed the door with some force as she struggled to get to a safe spot as her world began to disappear and grow dark.

The first time she had these episodes she had finally thought the things her biological mother had stated about her had been true. That she was actually insane. Maybe she was in some sort of way. Because Normal people didn’t see what she could see. Normal people couldn’t feel what she felt.

The world erupted into a world of color and like a movie. A scene began to play before her.  

Two beings stood outlined in shadows, their voices muffled. They were like low echoes in the raging storm of her mind. They stood outlined in a field of black and red snakes.

Has she shown no promise?

None my lady. I have shown her your wand. Allowed her hands to touch it and it shows no sign of her being able.

And, Then try again. Our numbers a little and if we chose to survive the dark lord. We will need many. Try again with your mate.

If I may, my lady. I don’t believe Alamar shows any promise providing me with the young we will need for our lord.  I plead for another.

And, Your current Mate and Child.

There was silence then the snakes stopped shifting and moving and turned and stared right at her. Blood began to pool at her feet soaking her shoes and her hands.

Kill them both.

The snakes swarmed her and as they began to attack her body and consume, she could see the outline of a dark figure looming over them all.

(I have an addiction to it and I apologize deeply)

It was another year, a new Moonfire Faire, Angelique had only experienced it once and at the time she had done so alone at the tail end of the celebration. This time around she had been so surprised to be surrounded by amazing friends, allies (which a handful of them were city state leaders). In fact she had been so enthused by the inspiration that she had to pull some strings with Gegeruju to let her rent out one of their more high end cabanas close to where the festivities would be taking place. With most of the adventurer’s guild being paired off with two per room (three if she counted Ardbert with Shuri and Estinien). Honestly, she was nervous because she had never done this with anyone much less with friends and more so someone that she genuinely loved as something more.

“And...done!” Laurelis spoke after helping Angelique tie off the back of a summer top making sure it was pleasantly secure and the Hyur took a look and smiled a little at the soft ocean colors that covered most of her skin. “You look beautiful, I was thinking you were much more for green, but I daresay blue looks quite fetching on you.” The pink haired Miqo’te was certainly someone with good fashion taste, and lightly she would pat Angelique’s shoulders and would turn on her heel, making mention she was going to be joining the others on the beach. Angelique glanced over to her path and lightly waved over to Haurchefant who had been waiting for Laurelis to finish up and flash her a smile before placing an arm around his love’s shoulders and they went out to the sounds of where the ocean was crashing against the shores.

“G’raha?” Angelique called over curiously to one of the doors that was still firmly shut, but she still heard some faint shuffling behind it. “Everyone’s gone ahead, are you certain you’re comfortable with this? You didn’t have to come if you-.”

“I wanted to.” his voice filtered through the door followed by nervous shuffling, possibly just his feet. “But...you know me, I’ve been covered up so much my entire life that something like this just feels so...exposed. Besides, how could I allow you to be disappointed and being here alone at the festivities? Understand, you have your friends here, but I know you wouldn’t be happy on your own when they started pairing away to do more...couple-like activities.” That was when the door clicked open and slowly G’raha Tia stepped out, a fresh bloom of red on his cheeks that could have matched his hair as he stood there in an open white shirt and red swim shorts, as well as a pair of simple sandals.

“You aren’t wrong, but it is silly of me to be jealous of them. However, I won’t deny, coming here with you certainly will give it a bit more of a meaning.” Reaching over she brushed part of his hair back a little when she approached him, and she pulled away one of the hair clips that he used to brush some of his bangs out of his eyes and replaced it with a similar one only this one had a little artisan craft cherry bomb on the end. “Now, if we’re both over our insecurities...how about we join the others and have fun, hm?”

G’raha chuckled softly as she took his hands in hers and her lips graced his knuckles. “Very well. Though I must ask...where did you come up with the gil to afford such a luxurious place like this?” He wondered as they were starting to leave the cabana, Angelique gave him a wry smile, lightly nudging his shoulder with hers.

“Those treasure map ventures were helpful, and Gegeruju owed me a favor, so it was somewhat at a discount, but for the love of the Gods, do NOT under any circumstances let Illya know.”

It was that level of luxury.

The Moonfire Faire had begun in earnest and as always it would seem the Lalafell in charge spared no expense for the fun. Much like last year he had put up a wooden platform jump course. It had taken some convincing for most of the men who were more athletically inclined to try and race to the finish, with the exception of Alphinaud who was perfectly content with keeping his feet in the sand with Illya, who was looking pretty in a white swimsuit and a straw hat on top of her equally white colored locks. G’raha took a deep breath as he could feel himself bounce a little on the fronts of his feet, he had been working out with Angelique, mostly for stamina training and endurance. Certainly he would be okay with this. Though he was surprised that Ser Aymeric had chosen to partake, if only for the mere fun of it. Everyone else from Estinien to Thancred were...more understandable at best.

“Ready?” Kiya questioned holding up a satchel that held some shards that would go off together with the correct incentive. 

“You got this G’raha!” Angelique called from down below as they were prepared in starting positions, and though he smiled a little to himself, his tail couldn’t help but flick in response.

“Go!” came the dark haired Miqo’te’s call as suddenly a spark of red shot off into the air, a star forming against the blue of the sky and like any race the guys took off at first in what appeared to be a dead heat. 

However, it wasn’t until the platforms split off into two different direction did the real competition reel out, some took the more safe space with wider platforms, but the more nimble took the riskier way. Of course, Estinien was the one that had forged ahead leaping from beam to beam with utmost ease as if he simply stood on a branch. G’raha though wasn’t too far off from him, but his ears flicked at the occasional splashes from those who lost footing and were disqualified like Ardbert and surprisingly Hien had taken a tumble too. In the end though, after Shuri had fired off the golden star prism did the first competition end with Estinien taking in the first place, Aymeric had done surprisingly well all things considered to get into a second place next to his friend. G’raha had come up third, if he hadn’t fumbled during the climb up he would have at least met up with Estinien.

After a quick reprieve and swim back to the main shore, they continued their little races with the ladies and Kiri had come on top, still claiming to be the better dragoon than Estinien, Angelique had taken to second on that one because of her archer’s instincts. They even attempted a carry back for pairs, but that...didn’t really end up going very well with most falling into the ocean below. It eventually started to devolve into just a competition between Kirishimi and Estinien, fun for the first couple of rounds, but eventually the group had decided to go and do some other activities while they would try to blow off whatever steam that had built up.

“Let’s go get something to eat!” Meeps spoke up excitedly, her long black tail flicking a little bit as she caught the scents of freshly cooking meals, most likely fish dishes and other tropical favors from Limsa Lominsa. “You’ll share with me right?” Her eyes darted over to Asahi who looked rather startled by the sudden turn of his love.

“I...well…” he stammered, reaching for words, but he watched as this very cute smile started to form on Meeps’ lips.

“I love you~.” she cooed sweetly, Angelique had to stifle a chuckle behind her hand with a cough. Then again this wasn’t an uncommon trait, watching as the Doman Hyur groaned and reluctantly agreed. It was the charm of the Miqo’te, weapons of mass destruction right to the heart. When he had agreed, she would wrap her arms around one of his and happily go over to one of the stalls that was starting to gain an audience with the delicacies served. Apparently though the group had worked up an appetite. Eventually Shuri with Estinien and Ardbert in tow, and Kiri who had come with a soaked Hien joined them.

Conversation and stories were shared around while they sort of sat in this big group circle away from the crowds for a little while. The ones most popular were the experiences they had ended up sharing in the First, more so the more light hearted ones. Angelique smiled a little to herself as she munched into a skewer of fruits, listening as Thancred lamented that he couldn’t bring Ryne for a little trip here. Or even bring something to her, but those being a Warrior of Light who could gain access to and from the First always offered to run anything they could to her on request. After all she had become part of this family. G’raha smiled to himself and lightly nudged his shoulder against Angelique’s, setting his head down on it for a moment, “Do you still have that item from Valentione’s day?” he asked softly and her cheeks brightened to a shade of red.

“If you’re talking about the moogle toy with a heart for the pom then yes, you would know. It’s in our room back at the Rising Stones.” She muttered softly and he gave her a sly smile to show that he had indeed been aware that it was there. “Geez, you’re lucky you’re cute.” she muttered softly as she would hold out the skewer to him and he just chuckled softly moving over and took a piece of melon that had been the closest one to get at. 

“It’s still odd to be genuinely hungry.” he replied softly and Angelique smiled, knowing that when she cooked for him at times, it was mostly just to make her happy. It wasn’t that he couldn’t taste it, no he loved everything she did, but the appetite to really be classified as hunger wasn’t there at the time. It was the same with resting and exhaustion. “But it feels good to genuinely work up an appetite.” 

It was apparent he was having fun, and that was a good thing.

After they had their fill, the group still played a few games related to the beach until the sun started to set. Laurelis was the one who called for the group to go get dry and cleaned from the sand, she had some surprises at the cabana for them. As it turned out she had come prepared with plenty of summer themed wear for everyone, some were yukata and others were happis, all were from Othard in origin. They came in a variety of designs like blue and silver for Alphinaud, pastel pink with white flowers for Illya, it was apparent that Laurelis was someone who thought her friends were worth every bit of gil. She even got Angelique a kimono that went to her thighs in pastel green this time with a variety of bright and colorful flowers stitched across it. Of course she had given her some tights to wear underneath it for modesty’s sake. Shuri had gotten a kimono in blue and white with snowflakes stitched across it, and the list went on until all were dressed for the evening.

Dark was upon them though as they were gathered around the shorelines, Asahi and Meeps were setting off a few sparklers with others, just having a good time until there was the announcement that the fireworks would begin soon. At first the group had been discussing options, but then G’raha would lightly tug on Angelique’s hand to get her attention. He wished to take her elsewhere and at first the bard was unsure, but Shuri smiled and shooed them off, after all they had been together most of the day and if they wanted to split off that was fine too.

“G’raha where are we going?” Angelique asked as they had gone pretty far away from the group, but he was smiling a little bit as they came to one of the huts with a sturdier roof than some of the ones built from straw appeared to be. Shifting a few crates he would climb onto them ascending to the roof and would hold out a hand to Angelique with a small smile.

“Do you trust me?” he asked and she looked a little bit confused before nodding, taking his hand and with his help pulled her onto the top. “Just be careful where you step, it’s sturdy, but don’t want you falling through.” he spoke as he moved over to take a seat as she followed suit, and there was no mistaking the reason why. The view was beautiful, the entire beach stretching out before them. Angelique could see that indeed their group had split off into their own little spaces for them, she could just barely see Alphinaud holding Illya in his lap, Shuri settled between both Ardbert and Estinien like a petite princess, Kiri and Hien were close with an arm around her waist...everyone just being together in their own worlds if only for a time. Carefully she would pull her knees to her chest, staring out at the smooth dark surface of the ocean.

“This is nice.” she spoke softly after a moment of silence. “Last time I came here it was on the tail end of the festivities...and I was alone.” she gave him a small smile, “After all I couldn’t very well drag a pool back to the First.” 

G’raha chuckled softly and reached over to lightly brush his fingers against her hair, “It wouldn’t surprise me if you tried.” he spoke calmly, smiling a little. “But from what you had given me during previous festivities despite the distance, I was happy you attempted to include me at that time. Though some of them I often wondered what drove you to do certain things. Like wearing that dress for All Saint’s Wake and...that one attire that is shut away forever to not be seen again.” He slid his hand away for a moment and sighed as he stared out at the water for a moment. “Though I think my favorite holiday was celebrating the day you came into the world…and I’m not speaking of the First, I mean you.”

“I know, I think my nameday was one of my favorites too. After all I wasn’t wanting for a ceremony or anything large...I was fine with just allowing it to pass. But it seems that you wouldn’t let it be.”

“Still won’t.” he replied with a smirk, “Now that I truly get to spend these times with you. I wish to experience everything with you, like here and now.”

“Raha…” Angelique spoke softly, but any other words failed as they came to silence as a high pitched shriek echoed through the air and a burst of color followed right after and cheers from down below. Looks like words would have to wait as the display began in earnest, but she glanced over to G’raha as he placed an arm around her shoulders and gently pulled her in close so she could rest her head against his shoulder, his hand sliding down to her waist, the weight of his cheek pressing to the crown of her head, an ear flicking on occasion to the loud pops and explosions. And really it made Angelique happy just being in the company of her friends and G’raha...marking this as one of the best days she has had since indeed her nameday in the First.

Before you have left, you wrote a letter to Jungkook explaining why you were leaving. At the time of writing this letter it was the right thing to do. But you didn’t know that you would be regretting it.

Jungkook kept that letter and read it again.

Dear Jungkook,

We’ve been married for a year now, after you brought me from that auction sale. We’ve had good moments and bad, more bad than good and I’ve been on the receiving end of the stick with all the punishments you’ve given me. However, I have had enough of this and shall be leaving not on my own as you were able to give me something special that I shall be waiting for nine months. It’s such a shame that I’m not the only one despite the fact that I’ve always been nothing but loyal because if I did cheat on you, God knows what you would’ve done to me.

Jungkook had killed every women he had ever impregnated (which were the maids), feeling extreme guilt for cheating on you as you never cheated on him. Yet, he felt a sudden urge of anger that you thought you could leave with HIS CHILD. You were sorely mistaken as he has finally found you.

Well one of his many men found you, at the spa that you work at, when he was collecting his wife. That man got a huge pay raise for his services of locating you and Jungkook had tailed you the whole entire time not wanting to lose track of you.

You routine was simple send your twins of too school, work, finish work, collect your kids and take care of them.

When Jungkook laid eyes on the two boys he was shocked on how similar they looked to him when he was a child, the big brown eyes and their bunny smiles. Clearly, he had strong genes.

He was at the park, watching you playing with the boys. The only thing he knew about his kids were their names, Jae and Dae.

Time passed slowly, as he was watching the three of you without being noticed. However, when you had turned your back for a second Jae ran off to go play somewhere else as Dae was still standing next to you.

Jungkook saw his child running around without even Y/N knowing what was going on. Until Jae ends up coming towards, staring at him laughing. Jungkook smiles back.

Jae: Why are you alone?

Jungkook: I’m not alone I’m watching someone

Jae: I know you’ve been staring at mummy forever

Jae was quick and very intelligent for a four year compared to his brother whose face always lost in a dream like state.

Jungkook: I was not

Jae: Yes you were, lots of men stare at mummy because she got a big butt

He begins to laugh.

Jungkook doesn’t find it very funny though, just hw many men have been staring at you? Just how many men have you allowed to touch you? How many men fucked you?

His blood began to boil.

Background Story - Nursery years and “Big School”

So firstly to give you some background to the author.

I was born Jonathan Lee Hart September 21st 1982 at Hyde Terrace Hospital, The Eldest of  2 children on my Mothers side and Third born of 11 on my Fathers.   Both my parents lived in Beeston. I was raised at 3 Cardinal Square on the council estate where I lived initially with My Mother, Grandad and Grandma and 2 of my Aunts who then moved out in my early primary years as they went about their adult lives.   My family have lived on Cardinal Square since the day the houses were first to complete, something which is true in the case of both grandparents I grew up with, My grandfather Les lived on the “Little Square” just 5 doors down from where he then made his Marital home with Hetty, who grew up at 105 Cardinal Square with her parents, one of my earliest memories is going up the street with her to see my great-grandma Young every now and then, in later years my Aunt Janet moved into 103 and My mother Carol still lives at number 3 to this very day, where she previously grew up with her Brother Ronnie and her sisters Susan, Janet, Diane and Linda. Janet still also works in the area at Cardinal Court just behind where she grew up. My Grandfather on my Dads side also spent his final years on the neighbouring streets following his retirement from the city centre pub trade.

I spent much of my early working life in the area, from evenings on the phone at Weatherlite Windows,  Abbseal and then later Royal Mail at Holbeck Delivery office,  I can still be seen in the area usually playing the guitar at one of the local pubs or clubs with The Mercs many times a year when we are not in the midst of a Global Pandemic. Beeston is in my blood.

My closest friends from the street the Richmond, Giles and Naismith families go back 3 generations, our parents and grandparents were friends since childhood, the estate has been called a few names over the years but in my history growing up it was a close-knit area, many friends from there I have kept to this day, it made me who I am and I would not have changed that for anything.

This page is more focused on my memories of school days, less so on individual pupils but more the type of education we got and the teachers we encountered,  I hope when complete others can contribute theirs from their times, most prominently on the teachers at the schools who helped to shape the lives we now live and the ways we learnt and types of lessons.  

Tied into this also will be the local clubs I got to take part in and the many great volunteers who gave up their time for us in and out of school, So let’s get cracking and go to Beeston Primary School Nursery. Starting with Key Stage one for today's episode, one thing I am short on is photos of the days, I am in the process of tracking them down and then will update the page as I get them to hopefully create a bit of an archive, the idea of this is to recognise the efforts of the teachers and people in the area who invested the time in ourselves our education but also to allow our future generations to have an idea of how school life has changed so much in a few decades.

Nursery

As far as nursery goes from memory it felt like one day I was spending days watching tv, going out on the Cardinal Field or playing with my pals round at the twins Duane and Danny’s house, then suddenly I was told “you’re off to nursery tomorrow” by my mother, so off I went, I remember first seeing the building, much of which has remained the same to this day with its dark brick oblongs with the white frames and fascias, I used to come up past the old Convent of The Most Holy Cross and Passion on Town Street, where you could see the building in the distance then we would go up the winding path by the terminus to the nursery. In those days we used to be scared of the Nuns as some of them almost had a ghostly appearance but in later life whenever we said a good morning to them they were always found to be most polite.

At this point that was the only “Hut” at the school, the portakabins were still to be dropped in. Of course, the first job of the day was getting your pumps on duly brought in our pump bags, I had the same one all through primary school hand made by my Aunty Diane.   We were taught by Miss Holgate and Mrs Allen, Miss Holgate had a patient calm and welcoming manner, at nursery I don’t think I ever had a day when I didn’t want to bound in and look forward to it.  

Miss Holgate was one for engaging the group in creative activities, most of which used to involve those old little white gluesticks and pots of glitter, or plenty of scribbling with crayons, Mrs Allen's forte was in storytelling, she was at both that school then Hugh Gaitskell all through my primary years, she had a preference for dressing in trouser suit/waistcoat combos when at Beeston Primary, with her short cut and tinted glasses, we must have been one of her early classes before she moved into single class teaching.  She could be calm and soft-spoken with a slight depth to her voice but did not take any nonsense and the tone she used if there was any made that clear to not go too far.  

Playtimes were spent between us all either trying to cram ourselves into the little wendy house in the playground, throwing coits on to poles, playing with the rocking horse or other similar toys or trying to get first dibs on an old fashioned metal tricycle so we could dash around doing circles of the yard, it was much faster than all the other plastic bikes and push cars and made you feel a bit more grown-up. The days were always finished off with a little story on the carpet and it was just a really enjoyable introduction to school life. 

The one-story I remember in particular then we were read a few times was "Funnybones" with the opening line of “in a dark dark house on a dark dark night” Mrs Allen did a great interpretation of it. Some of my longest and oldest friends were in this class including  Ben Woodburn, Shayn Thomas and Phil Mitchell, we all grew up on the Cardinals and Waincliffes and in Ben and Phil's case spent our entire school years in the same schools. Some of the other kids locally would go to the nursery in Cottingley at that time, who would then come and join us for “Big school”.

Beeston Primary Reception Class 0W / RW

For my introduction to mainstream schooling reception I was taught by the then Miss Harriet Wood (later to be Mrs Ansell-Wood), she was a fantastic teacher, she had a very calming presence, Tall with a blonde bob, a smile for everyone and welcoming manner about her, in later life she also then moved on to what became Hugh Gaitskell primary after the middle schools were abolished in the area, in what has become a recurring theme over the years some of my friends who came from different parts of Yorkshire, and even Europe became work colleagues with her in their early teaching days and every one of them has nothing but kind words to speak of her.

One particular time I was falsely accused of filling a crisp packet full of water and throwing it on my older mate Duane's head, a likely story indeed I wouldn’t even know how to do that back then, despite being an unproven allegation I was taken inside for a dressing down,  At first I was just defensive and angry in my reaction to the point of being hysterical due to knowing I'd not done this. I remember Miss Wood did a marvellous job of calmly settling me back down, giving a reassuring hand until I could explain myself and all was forgiven. Kindness and understanding always live long in the memory.

We would work our way through the colours and levels of our maths books, learning to read via the Collins “one two three and away” books, learning about the Village with 3 corners and its inhabitants Roger Red Hat, Billy Blue hat and Jonathan and Jennifer Yellow Hat (The first Hart to Hart reference in this series).

We learnt to put words and sentences together using “Letra sets”  that were in giant binders and looking back on it reminded me a bit like a more word-based version of having your scrabble letters out but filling in the words!  

We would go to the main hall and take part in “music and movement” which involved  sort of classical piece from the sound system playing while we would attempt various shapes or swop from hopping to trotting, skipping or other such movements to the soundtrack. With a few games of musical statues thrown in at the end for good measure!  

If we did PE then the old blue mats would be brought out for doing little forward rolls and the old balance beams with the hooks on and various other bits of apparatus would appear, all the time this was carried out barefoot which in winter was freezing as well as being very sore on your feet and not so fun a landing if you took a wrong step.

On my little table, I was sat with Richard Leach (who met his wife at the school who are happily together to this day), Matthew Jeffers, James Ratcliffe, Sophie Grant and Stephen Hullock.  

Stephens grandfather was the school caretaker for many years, there were a lot of days you would see him when we were out in the playground, he would be on the roof of the school retrieving various footballs and items that had been dispatched to the roof the night before by the kids from the Heathcroft estate during their football games or whatever other antics they chose to partake in, he would be greeted by a cheer as some of the balls were thrown back down into the playground. Talking of which Ste’s Grandfather on his dads' side was none other than Leeds United legend Jimmy Dunn, his other grandkids also went to our school and you can find his name on Bremner Square at the ground, check it out and if he is a player from before your time read him up and learn about his career he was a top player.

From those days to I can still visually picture how we all looked and were, the top music star of the time was Michael Jackson and Shayn Thomas is always shocked to remember that when I can still picture that he used to have his “thriller” T-Shirt on at school (no uniform at BPS in those days we could wear what we wanted).  

The year group was based at the back end of the school that faces the Heathcroft Estate, the classrooms would usually have one wall separating them at the side with a large curtain at the end of each classroom being our way in and out which would then be closed for privacy at reading times our more “creative” play and lessons took place in what was known as the “Wet Area” where we would be able to get up to the more messy types of play, such as sandpits and making Papier Mache items by sticking bits of old newspaper to balloons, the area was overseen by Miss Barker (she still had her maiden name then) who also had the job of patching us up if we fell in the playground complete with that yellow spray that used to sting like mad and leave you smelling like TCP.  Miss Barker always had a bit of glam and somehow managed to work in the messiest part of school yet always be dressed immaculately and still end the day still resembling Joan Collins.

The neighbouring class was Mr Johnson's class (later to be the Husband of the aforementioned Miss Barker).  Mr Johnson was a big part of the school for many years, he had a great positive influence on many of us growing up, he was keen on his sport and football which i will go into more in later chapters, in his younger days, he had a moustache to rival Nigel Mansell but a lot more hair on top, at playtimes our year group had the little playground facing down towards the hill where we would run around playing “What time is it Mr Wolf” or trying to do the hops skips and jumps on the painted sections on the playground floor, recreate our favourite superheroes by buttoning our coats into capes battling whichever poor soul was nominated to be the baddie. It was also in this playground where I first found out about one of my lifelong passions, before then I only knew of Everton and Liverpool as football teams (I was only 4 years old so only ever saw the cup final up to then, which you may recall was played out by those two teams in 1986), we always saw the old gigantic floodlights and stadium down the hill, you couldn’t miss them, then one day in the distance I noticed some men were running up and down Fullerton Park in white tops, when it was still the training ground, I asked Mr Johnson who was on Duty, in his normal attire of polo shirt and jeans with this white winter coat and coffee in hand, “what's that down there sir” to which he then told me it was a football team called Leeds United, I asked him if they played Liverpool but he said they played in division two, so I credit him with the introduction as from there I looked out for them on the local news or tv when football was mentioned and along with the encouragement of my neighbours from the Wales family i was set to be a fan for life. Nice one sir!

This fact was also further made clear to us throughout the years by Mrs Robinson, one of the teachers who lived locally, she was a class teacher of many of my friends over the years and occasionally took the odd lesson of mine, she was notably famous in school for having an array of Leeds United artefacts both in her car and in the classroom, she would also wear the Leeds Hats or Scarves if on duty in winter, She also had a fondness for collecting items relating to Owls, another symbol of the city, she had a great rapport with all the students in the school and was seen as being very cool, in those days everyone at school still supported Leeds and any other team was out of the question, much like it hopefully will again in this new rebirth we are seeing at the moment.

Going back to the “wet area”  this is also where the younger year groups would be served lunch as we had our first experience of “school dinners” the dinners at BPS were generally very good, the kitchen led by Mrs Willens and her team, which at then included Mrs Slight (who I now know as Gill, my classmate Amy’s mum and a good friend of my family Sunday afternoon pub trips and Darts and Dominoes) who later also then became a lunchtime supervisor.

We were served dinners on giant plastic trays that were split into segments, one for the main meal, one for your drink and biscuit (the second one after the then customary little bottle of milk in the morning part of the day) and one for the dessert or pudding as we say in LS11.

I used to love the puddings, Jam sponge or Chocolate Cake, always followed with a generous ladle of custard served from giant metal urns, and the top one which was the Lemon Meringue, which was like a new world to me in terms of food but I loved it, however, I was never as fussy about the main meal, which would get me into trouble from time to time, This is how we would also first encounter the famous Lunchtime Supervisor Miss Mary and her cohorts which at this point in time included Mrs Preston and Mrs Shipman (whose son Damian was also in my class) .

Once we had all dutifully lined up to get our dinners and then take them back to our places, in what became commonplace at the school the dinner ladies would circle the tables armed with their dishcloths, in between wiping up they would be checking first to make sure that no one was misbehaving or throwing food around, but their key function at that time seemed to be to ensure that we all ate properly or as much as possible, once we had reached however far we could manage with our main we would have to sit with our hands up and then ask their permission to “turn round” aka “I've had enough of that can I have my dessert please” in our inner thinking. t was at their discretion if we were permitted to do this unless you had eaten all the lot which meant you could turn round anyway.  

One of these particular times had a lasting impression on my food habits for many years. Pizza was on the menu, I'd never had it before, didn’t like the look, smell or taste of it (nothing like the ones you get in a shop) I couldn’t face it. Asked to turn round, Mrs Preston with her dark bob and circular glasses was not having any of it, neither was I, so 15 minutes later I was still sat there, in tears being told I could not leave my seat until I ate it, everyone else was in the playground by this time, it was a battle of wits and in the end, I was defeated and had to sit there and eat every mouthful of it until it was gone, at which point I was done in, had my pudding then got to join my friends for about 5 minutes before we had to go back in, red-faced puffy-eyed, it must have had a lasting effect, it was noted in future by my parents that I didn't like pizza and it put me off eating it until my mid-20s, it goes to show that some of Sigmund Freud's theories definitely hold some gravitas!

Although that encounter with her was a bit more traumatic, Mrs Preston was only doing what all the dinner ladies then would do, a few friends have told me they had similar encounters with the other dinner ladies with the foods they were not keen on, they were trying to ensure we eat and try different foods, she never held it against me as the rest of the time she was always a very approachable and had a neighbourly manner about her, she has been a stalwart and mainstay of the school for decades and moved into working in the school offices in later years. She has given decades of her life to that school and is to be applauded.
