These assholes know each other WAY too well and have SO MUCH weird history between them (both in terms of like... actual historical ties between the French and the English and centuries of personal interactions from the manga/anime) and they still keep hanging around each other no matter how many times one or both of them claims to have had enough of the other's bullshit. They're terrible people with no idea how to be normal about each other and thus could not be more perfectly matched.

holy shit it is so funny how polar opposite my opinion is on bill in the canon vs in this fanfic. let him be silly he's just a silly lil guy!!! vs I Need Him To Get Hit By A Bus. every word that comes out of his mouth and even when he is not talking and is literally just existing pushes me further and further into hopelessly wishing for his death and feeling depressed because i know he will not die. but i still need him to die.

i think everyone should have That One Fanfic that they've read so many times over that they've memorized the words to heart and they think deeply of it even if it is not great or is very dated. for me it would be this gravity falls fanfic from like 2015-2016 that i read not too long after it finished and connected with it so deeply that i ended up rereading it so often i straight up could recite it by heart (it was 100k+ words). its not my favorite gravity falls fanfic let alone my favorite fanfic in general and it uses a lot of tropes specific to that fandom that i dislike but god if my soul is not still intertwined with it 7 years later. it's been a couple years i should reread it again
