5. if we're thinking about a bit of an older au, an unhealthy obsession on Dib's end is a very VERY fair idea to consider, especially with his stalkerish tendencies towards Zim in the actual show.

in conclusion, zadr is an awesome ship with lots of potential that was screwed over by it's creator. i hope this post gets through, i hope the "zadr is a proship" people dont get ahold of it (both the proshippers that ship zadr and the zadr antis) and i hope i convinced you that zadr is okay to ship and a good ship to like!! thank you for reading :3

idk if this is a topic welcome on this blog but i GOTTA rant about it somewhere it’s driving me cray cray!!

the way lairy has been so widely accepted/normalized in the HFJONE fandom genuinely drives me crazy. it’s disgusting, distasteful, and inherently mischaracterizes both airy and liam.

i keep seeing excuses everywhere where people will say “it’s just toxic yaoi!!” or “you just can’t handle dark/unhealthy relationships in fiction!!” which, not only is boiling both them down to ‘toxic yaoi’ a disservice to their characters & nuances and just inherently distasteful, I’m not scared of exploring toxic/unhealthy relationships in fiction. I think it’s IMPORTANT to explore darker subject matter in fiction, and it’s also interesting to think about how dynamics between characters like Liam and Airy would be like.

it draws a LINE, however, when you start ROMANTICIZING the toxic/abusive relationships you’re portraying. Which, by SHIPPING THEM, you’re inherently doing by the very NATURE of shipping and ship culture. And even if you want to argue “shipping isn’t romanticizing”, the way lairy shippers talk about it/portray it IS!! Saying shit like “omg husbands.. they’re such an old married couple >_<“ or “boyfriends!! they’re so toxic yaoi ^o^” or wtv is SICKENING.

there is no conceivable way that lairy would be a healthy relationship, or that they would be in one at ALL. and to show otherwise is quite frankly a bastardization of both their characters. Even if it’s an “au”, portraying them like that is just inherently distasteful given it’s STILL derivative of the og source material, and therefore the CHARACTERS.

not to mention there are so. Many. More. INTERESTING WAYS to interpret/portray their dynamic. I’ve seen people portray them as brothers, father/son, hell even just CODEPENDENCY in general. While i might not be a huge fan of some of these portrayals, it is a MILLION times more interesting to think about. And. It doesn’t inherently glorify/romanticize the toxic aspects of those dynamics!! Shocking!!

Plus, just in GENERAL lairy shippers are some of the weirdest mfs in the osc, ESPECIALLY when it comes to the content they make regarding the ship itself. The weird Stockholm Syndrome shit, the literal 🍇 F**T1SH CONTENT EVERYWHERE (ESPECIALLY on sites like AO3, it’s genuinely so disgusting the amount of fics like that. That you can just find scrolling through the main fandom tag.).

idc if you ‘don’t romanticize it’, idc if you ‘don’t portray it like that’ or are just ‘neutral about it’. you’re a weird mf and do NOT have a valid place in the hfjone fandom or the osc as a WHOLE until you sort out the OBVIOUS issues you have if you actively partake in that content.

Art / AU Notes:

The Scars on Harley are from Yarnaby.

OC's name is Esther Stag, uses He/They pronouns and are masculine/neutral.

Esther eventually becomes Harley's caretaker and was "forced" to help with the change ( #toxic yaoi ).

Before that, they help discover scientific discoveries related to the body exchanges, but usually fails.

Esther does get turned into a toy against their will later on.

Harley looks like this because this is based off of Headmate Exomemories, meaning it was based off headmate/my exomemories. But also before i knew who the VA was, i may make an alternative for canon as this is an AU anyway.

Harley WILL use crutches before and after body change. I am disabled and i will always project disablility to my and other characters.

I just need to ramble for a minute, but I'm always internally grieving how the majority of constructiprowl fics (which is already not many 😭💔) really only seem to use the dynamic from the early stages of their relationship where Prowl was still pushing the constructicons away and resented them. And on the one hand, I understand the appeal bc an antagonistic relationship is fun to explore, and I love fics where they start off that way and then develop a better relationship out of it.... but, I also come across a lot of fics where he hates them way more and for MUCH longer than he ever did in canon, or where that's the only dynamic they'll ever have. There's a sentiment, I think, that it would be impossible for him to ever warm up to them and continuing to hate them is the only realistic option.

And that's alright if it's your preference, like far be it from me to get in the way of people's toxic yaoi hdbsbds, but they DID move past that in canon and it feels like a shame that's not really acknowledged as much. Mostly bc I wish there was more stuff that explored the dynamic they had later on once he decided he wanted to be in control of Devastator and was keeping them around willingly..... idk just that specific period of time in their relationship was so funny and endearing to me djsbhs, I need more of him being their boss and bringing them everywhere with him to everyone else's dismay lmao

They still had a lot of issues at that point, Prowl was power tripping like crazy and injuring himself by pushing an unstable gestalt bond too much/too fast, with the nosebleeds and the Scrapper moments, so they still had a long way to go. But what I'm getting at is mostly just that by then he was long past hating them or trying to make them go away, and was actually trying to keep them around and make things work. In the end he was only forcibly separated from them against his will too.... the worst thing Starscream ever did fr nsnbndnsms

I think he was essentially neutral on the constructicons as individuals... he was mostly just treating them like all the subordinates he'd had before, as pawns in his schemes. THEIR devotion and adoration of him was definitely very different to anything he'd experienced before (and extremely gay lmao), but canon didn't really give him the time to notice or react to that.

Just going off on a little side tangent but actually (as a shipper lmao 🤧) I like to think he could have become fond of them over time. Actually I think Prowl and the constructicons have a lot more in common than was ever really explored? Especially if they had been allowed to have distinct personalities and demonstrate their intelligence a bit more lmao. Like they're always himbos (affectionate) to me, and I don't mind the way they spoke or anything, but I feel like they were just really underutilised in IDW1... like we never saw any fun science stuff from Mixmaster or any of Hook's medical skills for example. And speaking of Hook in particular, I think it's interesting he usually has a bad temper and a very kind of perfectionist, prickly and stubborn personality that makes him very Prowl-like in a way that would have been fun to play around with...

Anyway I guess this whole ramble was just to say I wish there was more happy/endgame constructiprowl content bc it could be so good and I'm yearning for it jsjsjds 😭😭

I have also seen a few people say this ship is inherently one-sided and depicting it any other way is ooc, and I disagree!! I think it CAN be, but it doesn't NEED to be in order to be true to canon.

Ok, to start this off, their story isn't completely worked out yet, but all of the important stuff is! Also, big thanks to @rowses and @thebearsthings for brainstorming with me!=DDD Also, they are the BIGGEST unreliable narrator, seeing as they barely remember their past, and have some perception vs reality issues. Im referring to my character as The Vampire(though they are not the only one) and the one who turned them and was their partner Their Lover. This is cause we dont know their names!! Also im referring to them both in gender neutral terms because The Vampire doesnt know much about Their Lover(nothing at all really) and they don't know that about themself(which ill get into later)

This will have talk of graphic violence and cuts/blood, and the vampirism is sort of a metaphor for sexual assault.

First and foremost, they are a vampire who travels as a bounty hunter. They get paid for killing the person, and that's how they feed. They are from the south, no particular time period, just before a time of internet. In being turned, they lost and forgot their entire identity, their name, gender, memories, and their lover, The reasons why will all be explained throughout. Bottom line, they're a mystery to themself.

Lets talk about the before, and how they got turned. For the years before, they were living in this beautiful Victorian home with their lover, that their lover "inherited" from distant relatives. In their mind, this relationship was perfect; soft touches, watching the sunset, kisses before a goodbye. (It was not, as a friend said "toxic yaoi (gender neutral)") Then, a kiss on the neck turned to teeth sunk deep. They started to feel drowsy, dizzy. (ill make a post about how i think vampires work if you want) They collapse to the floor as blood starts running down and their lover has betrayed them, after all this time. They almost jump to see if their lover is okay when they cut deep into their own wrist, but stops when the blood from that wrist is drained into their own mouth. They wake up in the dark, everything's too loud. They are covered in blood and alone. Alone in their own mind, too. As they walk around trying to figure out anything, they pick up notepads with dates written down and shorthand notes, little trinkets scattered around the house, a picture of them and their lover (?) but their faces are turned away. They run to find the closest mirror, but nobodies in it, nothings there. When they decide to leave the house, they stop in the pool of blood to see a ring sitting in the middle, the same on their lovers hand in the picture.

This is right after they were bit, that's their lover in the mirror (not really there obviously). They wake up with bleached hair, but as time goes on they try to go to their natural colour in hopes of being themselves, but really get further always from their starting point. They do this with a lot of the "clues" they were given, they just take them so wrong and end up even more unhappy. They can't even look in a mirror to see them self, or get close enough to ask someone.

They figure out how being a vampire works, need to eat so they bounty hunt for money for places to stay in, the cowboy gettup allows them to cover their skin in the harsh sun. They never stop moving, they just keep going and going. They usually take cases that might lead them to their lover. They just want to know. They need to know why they would turn them into this, why they would throw away their lives together, why they would leave, what were they like, what The Vampire was like. They can not and will never be able to know more about themself because they will always be looking outwardly and in the past. They mourn their old self and idolize them, want to be them. Their loss of self will never be gained back, for they will never think "but what do i wanna be called, what gender do i feel like, what hair do i want to have?" because they are too busy looking for clues of what they used to be, what theyre "supposed" to be. They look at themself from before as a cookie cutter they must fit into.

They will never be able to have a happy ending for this reason, they are a tragedy. They look for their lost lover in others, every relationship they get into ends on strange terms and each is wildly different. They are somewhere else, always kind of absent for these people. They try so hard to be normal, to find these relationships, but there's always an ever present "What if?" What if my lover liked this? What if I wore my hair like that? What if they also drank their coffee this way? What if x kind of person was my type? What if I dressed this way? They will always be dissatisfied, because in their story (not the aus ill probably make for character exploration:\) they never find their lover, they never find out what they used to be like, or any of their history outside of nightmares and deja vu.

They travel the land, hoping motel to motel, kill to kill, lover to lover, NEVER in relief, always under tension. They feel their past self hovering behind them guarding, watching, judging. The only thing pushing them forward is the hope that theyll one day find Their Lover. When times get tough, they look to that same ring that left a permanent bruise on them, being twirled between their fingers.

Gonna definitely add to this later, and PLEASE ask questions or comments or anything, they drive me up the walls!!!!!!!
