Help

To whom much is given, much is required. If you can put yourself in someone else's shoes, and truly try to see things from their perspective, you might be able to help a person who is in need. But if you do not try to put yourself in someone else's shoes, even when the shoe won't fit, even if the shoe is too small or too big, or when the thought process of someone else seems too foreign for you to fathom, if you can't see things from someone else's perspective, there is no room in your heart to help anyone in crisis. Seeing things from different points of view is how we become mature, it's how we are able to become emotionally and spiritually healthy, which is needed in every aspect of life. Those who can only see things from their own perspective are like children who throw tantrums and cry and pout when they don't get their way. Those who can see things from another's point of view and empathize with them, are able to connect with people more intimately. When you stretch your mind and heart, true empathy happens, when you don't stretch your mind and heart, judgement happens. If a person that needs help feels judged by you, the trust that they might of had in you will be diminished to the point of no return in most cases. Stretching the mind into thinking from another persons perspective is reserved for those who have a desire to understand the human experience on a deeper level, as well as wanting to inspire people to become awakened and to be, stronger, wiser, better versions of themselves, and not because you know so much in your own right that you are positively sure of what and how to make their lives better. God is the only one who knows what a person needs, and if God is going to use you to help people, it will be set up and arranged in a way that only The Almighty could arrange things. God will give you the right words to say and will give you the humility to understand that just because you are relaying the message, you are still just a messenger. If a person confides in you and they still don't change after you've given them the best you've got in the area of advice, it does not give you the right to get angry at them for not taking head to what you said or to count them out for not changing in your timing. You might just be there to plant a seed, leave it up to God to water it and it will blossom when it is supposed to. Helping people does not always mean giving advice, help can be the simple act of listening with sincerity, listening with your first priority being the intent to learn something and not necessarily to teach something. Helping people cannot be an avenue for personal gain, financially, or emotionally, it has to be genuine, from the heart and guided by the spirit. Helping people is being useful, doing something that will benefit someone else, so your approach can change from situation to situation. It's not about you being in control, it is about letting go and letting God be in control, asking God to use you in whatever ways he sees fit. Less opinion, less stereotyping less judgement, less of you and more listening, more empathy, more love and most importantly more of God.

Fabulous Friday, friend. This is my December holiday thrive challenge for all of us who maybe, possibly don't love the holidays as much as some of the rest of you. But all are invited to participate and I'd super love to hear the effects-good, bad, enlightening, freeing or otherwise. So here goes: the challenge is to give away the number of items of the date every day this month. So today is the 1st-1 item. Tomorrow the second-2 items...but I don't mean purchase items to give away, I mean give away, throw away, recycle whenever possible anything that is holding you back, not serving or something else to walk around or clean.
