Look I get that we all want to relate to one another. I really do. But seeing people on my post about how shitty it is to exist as a visibly deformed & disabled person in public say things like "that's why i don't stim in public" or "that's why i'm scared to bring my cane in public" is just... You're missing the point.
Some of us cannot mask our disabilities. You can simply not stim if you can supress it in the first place. You can leave your cane at home if you're doing that already in the first place. A knee brace doesn't make you look like a "freak". You do appear abled otherwise.
I cannot. Many people I know cannot. I can't just "hide" my deformities and abnormal gait or convulsions to appear abled. I *need* my crutches everywhere I go. I can't supress my tics. Full-time wheelchair users exist. High support needs autistics exist. Schizospecs who cannot mask exist. People with William's Sydrome, Down's Syndrome and various obvious deformities exist. Little people. People with severe chemical burns or otherwise or scarring. People with Parkinson's, Tourette's, Huntington's, Cerebral Palsy, every disabled person who looks "abnormal".
We can't just "turn it off" like you. People WILL stare at us. Point their fingers at us. We have no power. They used to put us into freakshows. Not you. Not you who can hide your disability to "appear normal". That post was not for you to "relate to". I and many people are sick of many invisibly disabled people claiming they "want to look disabled" so they'd be "taken more seriously". It's not an invitation of you to declare you leaving your mobility aid at home or shit like that. It's not the damn same.

Tics and stims have always and will always be clinically separate things.
Stimming, while it may feel involuntary, are stereotyped and often rythmic movements which are used to self-soothe or express emotions. These include, hand flapping, tapping of objects, rubbing feet together, rocking, bouncing, humming, etc.,.
Tics on the other hand, are involuntary movements, sometimes preceeded by uncomfortable bodily sensations. They tend to be variable and changing in nature, and can happen regardless of environment and emotional state (although it is more common to tic while anxious, tired, or stressed). These include symtoms that are grunting, random vocalizations, excessive blinking, facial grimacing, extremity movements, etc.,.
While Autism is comorbid with Tourettes sydrome, it does NOT cause tics. And stims are not tics.
I hope this makes things clearer.

Okay here's another idea what if Yandere pearl had a Y/N with tourette sydrome
Hmmm ok I’ve never written about a s/o with a disability before but I’ll try my best here if I write it badly inaccuraly or offend anyone I would like to apologize in advance but I’ll try my best 😃
Yandere pearl x Tourette’s syndrome reader
Tw: ableism
Tourette’s ? What’s that
At first she might just think its some quirky human thing that is until maybe they hit themselves or have a really bad tic and she asks freaks out asking what’s going on
She would have no idea what that is at first her darling would probably just start getting tics one day and pearl would get confused
After they tell her what it is she will do everything in her power to both accommodate for it
And exploit it
After her research she would find out that tics can be triggered by external forces so that would be the perfect reason to keep you inside
No you can’t w-what if you get stressed out their and it triggers your tics what if you start hitting your self and I’m not their to help you what if you start swearing and some people dont understand and hurt you please y/n your safer here why don’t we just cuddle together and watch a movie together hmmm dosnt that sound nice you can pick
Now if her darling does start having tics and starts hitting herself or doing something harmful the she would just grab them and restrain them even if it sent them into a tic attack she would justify it in her mind as for their own good

Antipsychotic drugs masterlist
Disclaimer: I'm not a doctor, this is from a book about pharmacology. If you want more information ask a proffesional.
Phenothiazines
This action of antipsychotic drugs are complex. The ability of antipsychoticts to block D2 dopamine receptors correlates with their clinical efficacy. Animal studies have shown that dopamine synthesis and metabolism increase with acute treatment and receptor upregulation occures after a few weeks of antipsychotic adiministration. It is likely that these effects occur as a regulatory response to the drug-induced decrease in dopaminergic trasmission.
Pharmacokinetics: PO/IM/PR Absorption of oral forms is erratic. Distribute to tissues with high blood supply and cross placenta, half-life = 20 - 40 hrs. Metabolized by liver to primarly inactive forms. Elimimation varies with age of the pacient.
Tolerance/Dependance: Not addicting. Some physical dependance may occur. Tolerance develops to sedative effects. Some cross tolerance, but drugs are not easily substituted for another.
Drug interaction: Enhance the effects of central depressants, sedatives, analgesics, antihistamines, alcohol and morphine. Increases respiratory depression caused by meperidine. Inhibits actions of dopamine agonists.
Chloropromazine (thorazine) and promazine (sparine): used for psychoses, including mania, acute idiopathic psychoses and acute episodes of schizophrenia, nauseas and vomiting, hiccoughs. Side effects: acute dystonia (abnormal muscle tone). Parkinsonism, malignant syndrome, akhathisia, tardive dyskinesia, jaundice, sedation, orthostatic hypotension, anticholinergic effects, adrenergic blocking effects and allergic reactions to drugs.
Tiflupromazine (vesprin): used for psychoses, nausea and vomiting. Side effects: more anticholinergic and adrenergic blocking than chlorpromizine.
Thioridazine (mellaril): used for psychoses and hiccoughs. Side effects: fewer extrapyramidal symptoms and adrenergic blockind effects than chlorpromizine. More anticholinergic effects. Retrograde ejaculation, decreased testosterone, retinopathy.
Mesoridazine (serentil): used for schizophrenia, alcoholism, psychoses. Side effects: non.
Fluphenazine (prolixin): used for psychoses. Side effects: less orthostatic hypotension and adrenergic blockade but more extrapyramidal signs.
Perphenazine (trilafon): used for emesis. Side effects: non.
Prochlorperazine (compazine): used for nauseas and vomiting and psychoses. Side effects: less orthostatic hypotension and fewer exteapyramidal signs than chlorpromizine.
Trifluoperazine (stelazine): used for schizophrenia, acute psychoses, schizoaffective disorder, paranoid syndrome, nausea and vomiting. Side effects: less sedative effects and orthostatic hypotensiom, but more extrapyramidal effects than chlorpromizine.
Antiemetics
Dopamine stimulation of D2 receptors in the chemoreceptor trigger zone (CTZ) of the medulla mediates some forms of nausea and vomiting. Several antipsychotic agents antagonize D2 receptors in the CTZ, suppressing nausea and vomiting due cancer chemotherapy agents and other drugs and radiation therapy. Dopamine antagonists are not the only class of drugs employed to treat nausea and vomiting. Serotonine (5-HT3) antagonists are potent antiemetics, particularly useful for chemotherapy-induced nausea. A few cholinergic antagonists and histamine antagonists reduce emesis and control motion sickness. The neutral pathways influenced by these antagonists have not been clearly identified.
Thiothixene (navane): used for psychoses. Side effects: less sedative and hypontesive effects than chlorpromazine. Pharmacokinetics: PO/IM. Not recommended for children under 12.
Molindone (moban): chemically unrelated to classes listed above, but similar actions. Used for psychoses. Side effects: sedative or extrapyramidal effects, no hypotensive effects. Some anticholinergic effects.
Loxapine (loxitane): used for psychoses. Side effects: sedative, extrapyramidal and hypotensive effects. Sedation lasts up to 12 hrs.
Clozapine (clozaril): antipsychotic mechanism unclear. Blocks dopamine receptors as well as cholinergic, adrenergic, serotonergic and histaminergic neurotrasmission. Used for schizophrenia in those whom traditional antipsychotics have failed or have produced intolerable side effects. Side effects: very few extrapyramidal effects, Potent antimuscarinic effects. Agranaculocytosis in 2%.
Olanzapine (zyprexa): used for psychoses.
Quetiapine (seroquel): higher affinity for 5 HT2 receptors than D2 receptors. Used for psychoses. Side effects: few EPS.
Haloperidol (haldol): similar to phenothiazines. Used for psychoses, tourette's syndrome, behavioural problems in children, hyperactive children (short term), huntington's disease. Side effects: sedation, anticholinergic effects and alpha-adrenergic blocking effects. Rarely hypotension. Extrapyramidal side effects may be dramatic.
Pimozide (orap): blocks dopamine receptors. Used for tourette sydrome. Side effects: extrapyramidal disorder, tardive dyskinesia, sedation, headache, sensory changes, hypotension.
Risperidone (risperidal): mechanism unknown. Binds as antagonist at serotonine, dopamine, alpha adrenergic and H1 histamine receptors. Used for psychoses and behavioural problems. Side effects: extrapyramidal disorder, tardive dyskinesia, sedation, hyperkinesia, somnolence, constipation.

Bringing about social change is the onus of every citizen of the world and not just of a handful of those who are in powerful positions, says actress Rani Mukerji, whose films “Black” and “Hichki” have been instrumental in transforming people’s outlook towards those with special needs. As a celebrity with over two decades of experience in the world of Indian showbiz, Rani has also immersed herself in philanthropic works. While she finds it gratifying, she feels this is not something for actors or businessmen to do alone.”I think we all being citizens of the world, have a responsibility and it’s not just for the sake of doing certain things because I am an actor, socialite or a business person.”I think what’s important is that apart from the careers we choose, it is our basic duty as human beings to able to help other human beings… Or help in a cause because that’s what makes us truly citizens of the world,” Rani told IANS in a tete-a-tete here. Her film “Hichki”, in which she plays a woman with Tourette Sydrome has been widely lauded for spreading awareness on a little known nervous system disorder involving repetitive movements or unwanted sounds, with an entertaining and emotional story at its core.At the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) here, Rani was awarded the Best Actress for her role in the film. She feels when a film like this wins an award, it helps in pushing the awareness it sets out to spread. When “Hichki” had released, Rani had said she won’t take long gaps if the movie works. So when do we see her on-screen again?”I will be doing projects, and you will be getting to hear about them soon,” she said. Will she pick another issue-based movie?”Let’s see… I don’t want to say much. So wait for the announcement,” the actress, looking resplendent in a black ensemble by her forever favourite designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee, said with a smile. Her Melbourne trip was special. More so because her daughter Adira, who was born in December 2015, was travelling with her. She took the little one to the aquarium, zoo, a ‘bouncing garden’ and amusement park to entertain her.”I got her all the way to Melbourne and it was my duty as a mother to entertain her as much as I could. I took her to an amusement park and it was the first time she sat in a roller coaster. And she is really brave. ‘Mumma, I want to go again’. So, she’s quite a daredevil like that,” Rani said.Is that like you?”Yes,” said the proud mother, who is married to filmmaker Aditya Chopra. As a mother, patience is one virtue that Rani has realised about herself.”When you are a working professional and when you’re working round the clock, I think you forget the word patience. Also, I think we as actors are used to the phenomenon because a lot of times we are waiting for shots in the vanity vans and waiting, waiting, waiting till the next shot comes.”Being a mother I realised there’s no time to sit ideal. For me, it’s 24*7 work and attention. The only time when Adira will not need attention is when she is in deep sleep. The rest of the time I have to be all attentive for her.”Rani is glad she was able to break the cliche around actresses who become mothers. It was her husband who pushed her to work. But what about being directed by him?”I think there are some things that we should just leave for later… Probably Adira will make that phenomenon happen… I guess, all in time.”The Mid.day.com ; 18th. Aug,18

Could You Have ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder)
Truth
I’m going to tell you a little secret. I received a promotion to advertise for Fidget Spinners. Originally this article was going to be all about purchasing the toy and being able to join the “Fidget Spinner Craze”. Now I will still add a link or two as an option to purchase one, it is with a totally different reason. While researching for this toy I learned alot about why the actual toy way made and what it’s actual purpose is supposed to be. Fidget spinners were created for
attention issues and for people who suffer from ADHD and Autism. These “toys” help keep the hands busy and help people that have ADHD focus more. There are more products out there as well such as Koosh Balls, Stress Balls, Klixx toys and Gidget Widgets just to name a few. Even some classrooms are allowing special needs children to have them in class to help with focus and concentration. I have learned a lot that I didn’t know about ADHD preparing for this article. So instead of an entire page promoting a new toy that is sweeping the nation I thought I would write to you and tell you what I have learned instead.
What is ADHD
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is a mental is a neurodevelopmental disorder. The symptoms usually appear before the age of 12 yrs old. You will usually notice some signs such as, not being able to pay attention, excessive activity or having difficulty in controlling their behaviour. Signs that it could be ADHD will show for 6 months or longer. These symptoms also may result in not being able to pay attention, having difficulty in school
performance. It will cause problems in at least two or more settings such as; school, sports, or recreational activities. The exact cause of ADHD is unknown, it mostly occurs in children and adolescents, and affects between 5-7% of children. In 2015 it was estimated to affect around 51.1 million people worldwide and is 3 x more often in boys than girls. On average 30 – 50 % of children diagnosed with ADHD carry it into adulthood.
How to manage ADHD
ADHD management is treated differently in certain countries but usually involves some form of counselling, medication, changing diet and lifestyle. ADHD Subtypes ADHD Inattentive (ADHD-PI or ADHD 1 ) symptoms can include: Being easily distracted Missing details Having trouble focusing on one task Becoming bored quick and easily Can become easily confused Daydreams a lot Have trouble processing information or struggle to follow orders ADHD Predominantly Hyperactive – Impulsive Fidget and squirm a lot Talk non-stop Run around touching or playing with everything within eye sight Have troubles sitting still Difficulty doing quiet tasks and is impatient Blurts out inappropriate comments and often interrupts conversations Gets upset and annoyed having to wait for things like games and other activities ADHD Combined Type (ADHD – C ) Which is all of the above People with ADHD are more likely to have problems with handwriting, speech and language skills.
Associated Conditions
Around 2/3 of the time ADHD occurs with other disorders such as: Learning disabilities Tourette Sydrome Anti social personality disorder Mood disorders can include – bipolar, anxiety, depressive Substance Abuse OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) Restless Leg Syndrome Persistent bed wetting Sleep disorders
Cause
Most cases of ADHD are unknown. However; it is believed that it is inherited genetically by one’s parents. Genetic factors are also believed to be involved in determining whether ADHD will carry on into adulthood.
Foods To Avoid
While a proper diet cannot cure ADHD, certain foods can trigger it. Dairy Products Dairy products such as Ice Cream, Yogurt, and Cheese can trigger ADHD if they are hypersensitive to dairy. It can make them feel tired mentally as well as physically. Sugar Sugar strips the body of vitamins, enzymes and minerals that help stabilize your mood. We should all try to avoid sugars because it is extremely unhealthy, but extra specially unhealthy for people with ADHD. Coffee / Chocolate / Hot Chocolate / Caffeine These items all contain a large amount of caffeine. Caffeine is a stimulant that will trigger ADHD symptoms. High Mercury Foods High mercury foods can cause fatigue, insomnia and behavioral changes. People with ADHD should try to avoid these foods altogether Shark Swordfish King Mackeral Tilefish High fructose corn syrup Soda Pop / Fruit Juice These contain artificial coloring, sugar and caffeine. Try to avoid all together. Frozen Pizza Frozen Pizza is loaded with artificial colors and flavorings. Eating this can increase hyper activity and decrease concentration. If you want pizza from home try making it instead. It is way healthier plus you know all the ingredients going into it. Recipe for Meat Lovers Pizza YIELD: 1: 10-INCH PIZZA PREP TIME: 20 MINTES
