He was some kind of a man… What does it matter what you say about people?

Touch of Evil (1958), dir. Orson Welles.
A movie so incredible I can somehow mostly get past the fact that Charleton Heston plays a Mexican.

forgot how difficult fandom is to navigate as an aro person. anyway. uh. friends can kiss on the lips. and it doesnt need to be romantic. and it's not queerbaiting because FRIENDS CAN KISS. like yeah okay maybe it is a missed opportunity for wlw rep. but. the entire movie is based around platonic love. and the way people are complaining about this is so arophobic. like i was really happy to see a platonic kiss confirmed as platonic and best friends being the most important thing in someone's lives (even when they have romance outside of that!!!) and there are people out here saying "friends dont do that so its queerbaiting".
please. aro people exist. hell, kissing your friends isn't even an aro experience. ive kissed three of my friends platonically before - none of them are aro, just me - and we're still friends. it doesnt detract from anything to have friends kiss, id argue it's a pretty big step in making platonic affection more normalised bc i genuinely dont think ive ever seen a scene like that in anything
i can understand the upset around agatha and sophie and the missed opportunity for wlw rep. and im not mad at people for headcanons or whatever. im just asking people to think of the way people are saying this, and i know im yelling into the void because aromantic people have been saying this stuff for years, but fandom is so so arophobic and god i wish i could enjoy participating but i am constantly running into arophobia

Hands of hips looking down shaking my head I don't know how to sugarcoat this so I won't but signs is so much better than nope. I don't know how people even say the movie aged bad. I think the feelings they have for the director cloud their view (I don't even know how either of his names). You got a 1:30hs movie vs a 2hs movie (I'm cutting the 10 minutes of credit for both) where in one you are never bored and are gripped by emotions and the other where you sit waiting for anything to happen. Like I'm sorry but there's no fight here. Hydrogen bomb vs coughing baby.

A Little Princess is the earliest memory I have of realizing what it looks like for a grown ass woman to be jealous of a child. Ms. Minchin would’ve got these hands if any of those girls were my daughter.

I feel like every review of the Barry series finale that's like 'it was just meh...' is intentionally missing the point cause if they actually had to confront 'hey we as a country venerate service members to an insane degree when, just like normal people cause that's what they are, some of them are bad people. we will jump through hoops to absolve any wrongs these people commit. the police do get it massively wrong sometimes. justice is not always dished out. and we will make a butchered spectacle out of a tragedy for ticket sales.' they wouldn't get many clicks.....
