I think them as a childhood group of friends cold be very fun! Like they kinda work as a Scooby Doo/Solve It Squad kinda group except most of the crimes are actually supernatural and connected to the occult (I’m sure that’s a thing i guess Gravity Falls?) thinking of calling them the Hatchet Catchers or something like that?

Anyway Duke mostly handles the “civilian” stuff (talking to witnesses and adults) and patches everyone up with the first aid kit he keeps in his bag. Holloway is also very good with adults but she mostly handles research and take-down. Wiley is more the action type but he has a way with cult members that can get kinda creepy at times. He also sews which is fun! Sheila is best as long-cons and waiting shit out, she’s also very good to have in a fight.

I have hollered about this before, but what CQL does with Empathy is legit one of my favorite production choices—not just because da-ge is subjecting WWX to his horny goggles while he is trying to solve a murder, but because it’s so clear that his memory should be treated the same way you’d treat a primary source text: extremely valuable, offering insight into the author’s mindset as much as the events described, but not to be treated as indisputable objective fact. The memory versions of events are all different from the versions we see, and while sometimes this is due to receiving extra information—portions of the scene not previously shown to us—the difference is just as often due to the omission or alteration of things we did see happen. It’s fascinating!

So it is ENDLESSLY IRRITATING when people treat the Empathy versions as the “real” versions of the events. Like, bro, we saw that and it wasn’t from JGY’s perspective. Who do you think was lying to you before, the omniscient third-person narration?

seriously starting to get annoyed by people equating sad and tragic endings with meaningfulness. happy and/or hopeful endings don’t mean less. they’re not silly or less impactful. i'm just really tired of people telling me that the tragic ending is more romantic or beautiful or interesting or that the main character needs to "learn" something from the loss of a loved one.
