Giyuu wasn’t deaf. Grieving or not, he could hear. He knew. They spoke of him. Often. His mind, so overcome with pain, had been unable to comprehend the words at first, catching them in his mind to save for later. But deep in the night, when he had run out of tears, he curled in the sheets and remembered.

Many of the whispers were of concern. For the poor orphan boy with no blood relatives and only the fiancé of his dead sister. The meek, little child going through the worst years in his life.

Others were informative. That small kid, yeah, that one? Said he saw his sister die. Really? Poor thing.

But the accusations. Cold, terrifying accusations. He killed his sister. I bet he’s lying. Probably stabbed her. Jealous boy, he is. Always knew he would end up a bad apple. I heard they were shipping him off to some distant relatives, some doctors. Hopefully they’re psychologists. He needs to go to a mental hospital. Or better yet, dead. He said a demon. Hah. Yeah. Schizophrenia, I’m sure. Scared of the dark and seeing things. Thought his sister was this ‘demon’ and drove a knife into her back. Poor girl. And she’d been about to be married! It’s the boy’s fault. Protect your children tonight. You don’t know if he’ll go after them next.

Giyuu didn’t understand why they wouldn’t believe him. He had always been kind to them. He had made sure to never complain. He’d kept up the good manners as Tsutako had instructed. So why? Why would they even suggest that he would kill her? She had been his everything!

And yet… And yet, maybe the whispers had some merit to them. Maybe it was Giyuu’s fault. Maybe he could’ve saved her. Maybe he’d caused all of this, maybe the monster had been after him and she’d saved him and because of that she was dead. Maybe he really was at fault. Maybe- Maybe—

Maybe he deserved death.

Maybe he should die.

No, not maybe.

He should die.

He should.

He would.

really cannot overstate that in the expanded universe, boba fett gets out of the sarlacc pit by 1) realizing the sarlacc pit has psychically connected itself to him for Torture reasons, 2) considering his circumstances and very deliberately deciding, "i am going to stop repressing my emotions for like, two minutes," and 3) consequently giving the sarlacc, a creature that literally feeds off suffering, a fucking seizure

Instead of Dick or Tim, Red Hood straight up goes for kidnapping Bruce Wayne and keeping him hostage just to see how desperate the birds get in trying to find him.

It’s a foolproof plan. Batman won’t blow his cover unless absolutely necessary, and “Brucie” would never know how to slip away from a crime lord of Red Hood’s caliber. It’s foolproof. It’s perfect. Jason can keep dropping hints and make threats towards the birds and watch Bruce squirm without consequences if he plays this right.

But then “Brucie” keeps begging him not to hurt his kids…

Prompt:

After Red Hood stopped killing and someone leaked footage hinting that he's the second Robin, he expected to fight for every morsel of territory, for everybody to desert him and the murder attempts to triple.

And, well. It's not like he doesn't find himself in a rigged warehouse on Monday, walking off that one explosion with singes on his back. It's not like on Wednesday, a bullet pierces through a hole in his armour and he's losing half his blood in an alley. And sure, someone takes advantage of him throwing his helmet away on Friday (he was out of grenades and needed a bigger bomb) to fear gass him, but it's fine, he can function normally under fear gass nowadays.

Except. Except nobody deserts him. By Monday, the attempts have completely stopped. He walks into a meeting with his men and sees his goons' hands won't stop shaking, and even his lieutenant won't look him in the eyes.

Jason is confused, and so are the other bats, but soon the rumours reach their ears: you can't go after the Red Hood, because no matter what you do, once you've targeted him it's over, like a dog with a bone, he'll get you eventually- no matter how you shoot or how many explosives you use. It doesn't matter that the Red Hood doesn't kill, because the Red Hood doesn't die.

Eddie spends a month trying to tell Steve that he’s gay without actually saying it because Steve has decided as his adult male best friend that he needs to get Eddie a girlfriend. Eddie does not want a girlfriend.

Eventually he’s just like, “You know how Robin is…Robin? I’m like that, but Eddie.”

“Riiiight,” Steve says but what he’s apparently thinking is, ‘Eddie likes alternative chicks. Should’ve guessed that.’ Because the setups don’t stop.

Everything comes to an eventual point and Eddie just explodes like ‘gay! gay!’ His noodle arms are flailing all over the place so Steve thinks he’s gesturing at him.

Steve’s just like, “No, man. I’m not gay. I like girls too.”

“What now?” Eddie stops. “Too? I had a chance this whole time?!”

“What are you talking about? I’m not a girl.”

“Oh my god.”
