J. K. Rowling vs David Tennant: where is the truth and where the lies?
Probably everyone have read something about an unpopular opinion posted by J. K. Rowling on Twitter (cough, I mean X), where she decided to go after David Tennant. She claimed that during an interview Tennant was talking about whinging f**kers who need to just shut up. These whinging f**kers who he is referring to are women who’s rights are being oppressed, according to J. K. Rowling.
Tumblr media
Unfortunately, Tennant didn't say anything against oppressed and abused women. Actually, Rowling is *again* pursuing her personal crusade claiming female-only = no trans-women. Tennant, after accepting an award, took the microphone and gave a speech about the state of LGBTQ+ rights in the UK, and the sad need for awards like the one he received (he was honored at the British LGBT Awards with Celebrity Ally award).
During the speech, Tennant also targeted UK Minister for Women and Equalities, Kemi Badenoch, who had previously said she would exclude trans-women from single-sex areas. Tennant said:
“I suppose if I’m honest I’m a little depressed by the fact that acknowledging that everyone has the right to be who they want to be and live their life how they want to live it as long as they’re not hurting anyone else should merit any kind of special or award or special mention because it’s common sense, isn’t it?” Tennant said in his speech. “It’s human decency. We shouldn’t live in a world where that is worth remarking on. However until we wake up and Kemi Badenoch doesn’t exist anymore — I don’t wish ill of her, I just wish her to shut up — whilst we do live in this world I am honoured to receive this.”
Tennant’s speech started a war of words with Badenoch, who later took to social media to say she would not shut up as the actor suggested. She went on to call Tennant “a rich, lefty, white male celebrity so blinded by ideology he can’t see the optics of attacking the only Black woman in government by calling publicly for my existence to end.”
Tumblr media
Which, again, is a... Ehm... Lie, since Tennant didn't attack Minister Badenoch for her ethnicity or threatened her life. Tennant speech was critical of her position regarding trans rights and not her personal life. Tennant was calling out government bigots for their political opinions regarding social issues and not attacking anyone on personal basis and NEVER - NEVER said anything about institutional racism (which Minister Badenoch herself claimed it's not a problem in UK) and violence against women (both cis and trans) not being major problems.
In a separate red carpet interview on the awards ceremony, Tennant was asked to say something to the trans youth. He responded to don't feel judged or unloved, because transphobic politicians are just a little minority: “It's a tiny bunch of little whinging f**kers who are on the wrong side of history, and they’ll all go away soon.”
The whole interview is available under here and it's sweet and heartwarming:
youtube
As always, J. K. Rowling and conservative politicians are strumentalizing LGBTQ+ awareness contents to make the community and it's allies look like evil terrorists (“gender Taliban”) and therefore pursuing their anti-trans goals while also belittling abuse perpetrated on women in religious states and systemic racism. Since violence against women is overwhelmingly committed by cisgender men, why are the Tories blaming LGBTQ+ community and it's allies?
J. K. Rowling and Minister Badenoch demonstrated through their words, how danger narratives can be invoked not only to obscure (hetero) cis men’s violence and abuse against cis and trans women, but also justify violence against the whole LGBTQ + community in the holy name of (cis-hetero) women's safety. [Here my previous post about this]

VOTE
Even if you live in a ‘safe seat’ area for the opposition
Even if you live in a ‘safe seat’ area for the party of your choice
Even if you don’t like any of the options (you can always spoil your ballot)
You cannot bitch about the outcome (or celebrate it) if you were not involved.
And be kind to the polling station volunteers.
Don’t forget your ID - it can still be used even if expired as long as you still look like the picture.

Living in the UK as a trans woman is finding the most "trans supportive" party to only be the ones that view us as an annoyance instead of a threat.
It's having to spread warnings about the Guardian, a Left Wing source, as they are some of the constantly worse in trying to demonise us.
It's holding hope in the Scottish or Welsh governments, just for them to turn on us in the drop of a penny
It's sitting here helplessly as Dr. Cass removes in a single report, what we have worked so hard to gain in Thirty Years.
It's the knowledge that it feels as if there is a deep and intrinsic TERF culture running throughout this country.
It is seeing 'allies' agree that we are so much better than the US with trans people and then seeing zero backlash to the removal of all Puberty Blockers.
It's seeing The Guardian go after DIY, and the response is "to wait it out"
It's having a 48% suicide rate that nobody cares of, and is entirely dismissed.
It's the hopelessness and the dread. We know others have it so much worse. But there's just. this overwhelming feeling. That this is the way it will be for us forever.

If you’re in the UK and of voting age please make sure to be aware of your polling location, what you need to bring and when you need to go. Also please look at polling in your area and tactical voting plans. I know none of the options are great just now, but we cannot let apathy allow even worse candidates to take seats from the Tories.

Something that I wish more people understood is that this election is no longer about who forms a government. That is a forgone conclusion at this point unless shit really hits the fan. This election is about who leads the opposition.
If the conservatives are allowed to get away with second place, they will still have the platform to poison our politics and rebuild to come back down the line.
If the lib dems get to finish second instead, they will get to set the narrative, the media will be forced to platform them more and the conservatives less, and we actually stand a chance at having the labour government held to account. Polls show that this is on the cards.
We are so close to a seismic shift in politics in this country.
But to do it, we need to vote tactically. We need to the number of lib dem seats where possible, but realistically they have a ceiling of support at around 70-75 seats. So the other half of the equation is to reduce the number of conservative seats as far below 70 as we can. There is no such thing as a safe tory seat this election, with enough tactical voting they can all be wiped out.
To that end, here are two resources that can help:
^^The most reliable tactical voting site with the greatest track record, proven to be legit unlike some of the fake ones that the tories have set up, and the only one that I know of purely focused on getting the tories out of power and out of the opposition.
^^An initiative to try to beat the tory and reform uk bot farms at their own game.
Together we can reach net zero tories

something that pisses me off is how you can never be left-wing enough. no matter what a government does for its people and their welfare and all that, if you’re not living in some fucking utopia, it’s never enough. all the right has to do is not be total dictators because nobody expects them to care anymore. but if/when labour get elected in july, if the country isn’t fixed by august there are going to be people saying how this proves socialism doesn’t work and hey at least we weren’t under any illusions with the tories.
do i hate starmer with every fibre of my being? yes. but is he and, more crucially, a labour government, a far better option than five more years of sunak and his cronies?
of fucking course.

i keep seeing anti-labour memes about how they're just tory lite and listen. listen i fucking get it ok they suck ass they do. sure kier starmer is flawed as fuck and labour is diluted conservatives sure. but diluted. is still LESS. if this election is gonna be a pick the lesser of two evils situation u gotta nut up and fucking vote for the lesser evil. i don't give a shit. srsly I dont care. I know it sucks I know its bad but u can't. u can't sit it out. u can't protest vote. it won't work. and the tories will stay in power
no matter how much u can hate on starmer (and trust me I hate on him a LOT) he will be better than the tories.
blair was also a labour leader considered tory lite and u kno what? yeah he sucked ass but he got Some shit done. the NHS flourished a lil under his leadership u can hate him all u want for not having been a left enough leader but he was a damn sight better than the tories wudve been
so when the election rolls around u gotta fucking suck it up buttercup. I hate seeing this kind of anti-labour rhetoric even in meme form cus it's just gonna either discourage voting especially among the left, or it will completely split the vote. and then we will b truly fucked.
vote smart. vote labour if u have to. unseat the tories and fucking get them the fuck out of power

Labour are on track to win a landslide victory,
you can vote green and know you aren’t enabling a Tory back door victory, I myself am planning to vote snp as a voter in Scotland
the tories will have been in power for 14 years next month their time in power is done everyone in Westminster knows it’s why the tories are in burn mode,
it’s going to be a starmer coronation so it’s important that it’s tempered by a left wing since he’s forced all the Labour left out
