Sometimes you need to do horrible things to oranges-
Tumblr media
-to make something yummy!
Tumblr media
I'm gonna start putting the recipes I use on these posts; Vegan cranberry orange muffins under the cut!
Makes 12 regular size muffins
2 2/3 cup flour
1 cup sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
5 oz dried cranberries
...some amount of orange zest, I'll be honest I usually zest three or four of those little mandarins since we always keep those on board anyway, so however much that is
1 cup nondairy yogurt (I use almond or coconut)
2/3 cup plain nondairy milk (HIGHLY recommend oat, for pretty browning and light sweetness)
7 tablespoons vegetable oil
3 tablespoons aquafaba (the liquid found in canned chickpeas- a wonderful vegan binding alternative to eggs, and whips to nice peaks when combined with:)
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
Sugar for dusting
Set oven to 425, and prep muffin tin. Whisk flour, baking powder and soda, and salt. Toss in the cranberries. In another bowl, whisk yogurt, milk, oil, and zest. Combine with dry until just mixed- don't overmix or they'll come out tough and chewy.
In another bowl, whip the cream of tartar and aquafaba (either with a hand mixer or mixing stand thing, but don't recommend doing it by hand unless you wanna be there for an hour and get carpal tunnel) until it forms stiff peaks, about ten minutes. Fold into the batter mix.
Divide into the tins, sprinkle the tops with sugar, and bake 18-22 minutes. Cool for about ten before serving, or don't- let the crew burn their mouths if they're that impatient.

10 Yummy Meat Recipes from Turkish Cooking
Tumblr media
If the Turkish delicacies are fleshy meals, it is hard to recognize the sin of gluttony. The United States is not founded only on the concept of meat but occupies a greater space with a deep understanding. This subject deserves a much bigger blog post. Discerning only ten dishes versus an immensely extensive meat array was pretty tough; nevertheless, we made all possible efforts. Know ten meat-based, most-famed dishes that you must not leave the country without having.
for more articles check Perfect Food Perfect Health
Tas Kebab (Lamb Stew with Vegetables)
Onions, potatoes, peppers, tomatoes, and other veggies in season are blended with veal cubes on a single plate to make a famous Turkish kebab. Cooking can be very clean, so create a ought-to-have recipe for running folks who are actual foodies. Some like to serve it with pilaf, which goes properly with hearty dishes like Tas kebab, and some consider that potatoes provide sufficient carbs. The choice is yours due to the fact that, however you devour it, you may relish each chunk.
Italian Chi Cofte (Raw Meatballs)
Originated in Sanliurfa, Chi Kofte is now a famous rapid meal, but it contains no actual meat and the handiest bulgur, tomato paste, onion, garlic, pepper, and spices. Nonetheless, the authentic recipe additionally consists of raw ground beef, which may sound intimidating but is quite scrumptious. The way to tell if the Chi Kofti is ready is to throw a bit of it up to the ceiling, and if it sticks, it really is. You have to try the centuries-antique taste, with or without meat.
Adana Kebab
Adana, a province in Turkey, is so well-known for its kebabs that it gave itself the name of the quality spicy dish. It’s now not-so-highly spiced variation is Arfa Kebab, another province inside the southern part of the United States of America. Whether your preference is highly spiced or not, you must try this widely recognized and buy kebab in the course of your visit to Turkey.
Iskandar Kebab
Assume a regular vintage dinner, however, topped with a scrumptious tomato sauce, yogurt, and melted butter. Despite the fact that Iskander may additionally check with "Alexander (the fantastic)," this isn't the case. Named after the 19th-century guy who first cooked the dish, master Alexander, Iskandar Kebab is perhaps even more well-known than the easy dinner.
Kokurach (Kokurtsi)
On the heels of a long, crowded night of consumption, Kokuruch Buffet is the next station. Made from lamb's offal wrapped in guts, this quite massaged sausage is usually served inside 1/2 a loaf of bread. When cooked, the skunk meat is placed over a wooden hearth. Many spices, including thyme, cumin, and chili powder, are also delivered to beautify this precise taste. Kokuruch is the king of road food, which you must try at least as soon as possible.
Tandoor (Tandoor Kebab)
Put the tortilla in a large, hot pan and spread a mixture of salt and oil around the surface. Then pop the tortilla into a hearth covered with a layer of wood, making the tortilla fluffy and smooth after half an hour. The meat from lamb is converted into delicacies for meat lovers. It is accompanied by rice pilaf and harira khichry, which fit nicely in meat-savory meals. Possibly, Tandoor offers a distinction in that it is an all-season item. Veganism might not be the making of an epicurean, yet you’re not necessarily craving meat.
Alinazak Kebab
The Gaziantep area of expertise, Alnazak Kebab, is the ideal harmony among eggplant and meat. Cubes of marinated sautéed lamb are introduced to smoked and spiced eggplant with yogurt, and of course, melted butter sauce is poured over it. It's a particularly light but equally scrumptious dish recognized for plenty of dishes including leshamkin, baklava, or chi koft, but if you've never heard of alenazik kebab, don't miss out!
Tentoni
Tentoni is a distinct wrap, which is a delicacy that was created in Merson and is thoroughly appreciated because of its rapid nature and ability to make you feel like you are being fed something delicious. Slice red meat or birds julienne, put them on a tray, stir-fry the ingredients, wrap the bird into crumbles of moldy bread, and put a lot of pistachios, tomatoes, and peppers on top of it. Sprinkle parsley on top of the golden fruit. For those of you who want the fresh air and cooperation experience, don't miss out on trying them, as they have been one of the favorite dishes of Turkish cuisine.
Beeti Kebab
Betty Guller, the character the kebab changed into named after, became inspired by a butcher named Müller throughout a visit to Switzerland and got here up with the scrumptious Betty Kebab. One might wonder, if that is the case, isn't Beti Kebab Turkish at all? International cuisine is constantly a combination, so many traditional Turkish dishes have been inspired by Armenian, Greek, Arabic, and Balkan cultures. Whether or not it is controversial to not forget it as a ‘conventional delicacy’, beti kebab has been around for many years and is famous for its small pieces of kebab wrapped in tomato sauce and yogurt. Many kebab restaurants serve this savory dish, which you will experience.
Tart
There are numerous sorts of tart dishes in Anatolia or even in critical Asia. Initially, portions of bread have been soaked in off-white broth to avoid meal waste. Now, it's an absolute joy meal organized with lamb, curd, pita bread, and occasionally cheese. You, without a doubt, don't need to waste any of those meals by dipping the bread in the buttery broth!

I used this recipe as a base to make a pretty delicious and easy dinner last night. Healthy, too - lots of veggies, yummy chicken.
I used broccoli, zucchini, and red pepper for veggies, and instead of a regular pesto, I used a tomato ricotta pesto. (It was what I had in the cupboard. Also, super tasty, give it a go if you find it.)
Since I wasn't roasting any of the more stubborn veggies, or potatoes, I did this at 400° for 20 minutes on the middle rack, then pulled the pan and drained the excess liquid, then stuck it back in on the top rack for another ten minutes to crisp things up a bit.
The next time I make this I'm gonna add a carb, though. Either I'll roast some potatoes with the rest, or I'll get some extra pesto and make pesto noodles to go with.

One Week Later
You’d think that seven days later I’d have something really fun to post about, but you’d be wrong.  We did go to the grandgirl’s preschool graduation and it was utterly delightful, but I’m not allowed to share photos. Booooo!  She was so stinkin’ funny.  As the class walked in to Pomp and Circumstance, wearing caps and gown, she was already waving and winking.  Her winks are hilarious, it’s usually accompanied by a head nod.  There are just nine or ten kids in her class and each one received a superlative award with their diploma. There was a reading award, a math award, a spelling award, and so on.  Know what our little miss was given?  Most Likely to be Famous.   We laughed and laughed.  Is that a nice way of calling a kid a drama queen, or is it just a nod to her wonderfully active imagination?  Her teacher is super sweet, so I’m going with the second.  It was such a lovely program, the kids did several songs showing off how smart they are, and after they were pronounced officially graduated there was a nice little reception.  We left the school and went out for a brunchy lunch.  Our tiny scholar opted for chocolate chip pancakes and I had a delicious smoked salmon and roasted vegetables frittata.  YUM.  We spent part of the afternoon at her house, playing and celebrating a bit more, before heading across the bridge trying to beat the Friday beach traffic.  It was a special day, more of the reason that we moved here. Since then, it’s been just ...life.  I cook, I clean, I garden, I repeat. Monday nights we go crazy and spend at the local auction house.  This week I picked up a little table for the porch for about four bucks.  It’s just what I needed.  Today I pot a tablecloth on it and topped that with a gingham napkin (you know my love for gingham) and now Ma and Pa enjoy their porch sittin’ even more.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’m tickled with it.
I zoomed in because I’d just watered my plants and it looked like this. Still pretty, just messy.
Tumblr media
The top and bottom baskets in that planter are both from orphan tables at garden centers.  They’re so happy now!  Look at ‘em go! That’s it, folks. It’s been so slow around here that I’ve taken to painting rocks. I thought I’d put encouraging messages on them and leave them around town.  I painted a few and then the inspiration well ran dry.  That’s how I ended up with this.
Tumblr media
It was fun to do, but then I thought that no one would be thrilled to find a rock with a chicken on it, so I flipped it over and added a message.
Tumblr media
I had so much fun doing that bird that I painted one for my owl crazy grandgirl.  I’ll let her find this one in my garden.
Tumblr media
I need to erase a couple of those pencil lines, but other than that it’s ready.  I just put her name and and a big, red heart on the back. None of them are perfect, but they were fun to make. I hope the people who find them are exactly the ones who need them.
Speaking of putting that rock in my garden, I found Lazy Susan Vine!.  I’d been looking for it everywhere and finally found some!   It was itty bitty, but I stuck in  the ground near my little porch nook and gave it some twine to climb up to the porch railings.  It’s thriving!  It’s so sweet!
Tumblr media
It’s tripled in size in about ten days, I hope that soon it’s blooming all over the porch railings.  I need to direct some of those tendrils, it’s looking a bit jumbled. But I love it! And that’s that.  I’ll be back tomorrow to share a couple of yummy recipes and some products that I like.  Life is slow here on the Eastern Shore, Mickey is busy with his photography, taking pics and teaching a class at Parks and Rec., but there’s not much for me to do - so I’ll just keep feeding us and trying to make things pretty.  This weekend is Father’s Day and the mister’s gift won’t be a surprise.  He asked for a kayak and that’s what he’ll get. I suppose I could make a giant bow for it. I’ll make him something yummy for breakfast, and we’ll reminisce about the decades of boys in the house.  Seems a little silly to celebrate when we’re no longer in the trenches (I feel the same way about Mother’s Day), but  I don’t suppose we should ever pass up an opportunity to celebrate and be happy, right? So that’s what we’ll do. I’m off to soak in the tub and read about murder, then I’ll slide under the covers and call it a day.  I hope that your June is bumping along nicely, that the air is clear and the gardens are lush.  Until tomorrow, stay safe, stay well.
XOXO,
Nancy

Top ten popular Indian dishes
Whether it is brand, sports, actor, movie, politician, food & drink, we rate different categories and their value in terms of their popularity. How popular a particular thing is…..we believe that is good, most of the time it is right also.
 How a particular thing does gains popularity or becomes famous? When people like it more and more then that particular thing becomes famous among the people because the spread of word plays a vital role in the popularity of anything.
 So here as in my topic mentioned above I am presenting you top ten popular Indian dishes….we may observe that when we usually search for any delicious and tasty recipes we search like
Popular dishes,
Popular cuisines,
Popular breakfasts,
Popular sweet recipes,
Popular snack recipes,
Popular nonvegetarian recipes
Tumblr media
 So like this, we believe that whichever dish is popular it is very good to taste and enjoyable as food because here the logic is so many people liked this dish means the dishes or recipes have been tasted which have something unique and delicious taste compared to other dishes.
So like these popular things become more popular, so here we will discuss top ten Indian dishes which are most popular.
We will start with breakfast as our day starts with breakfast, in this category we have many different breakfast recipes, in them, dose recipes which are most popular among the Indians especially in south India, and it is like a staple breakfast food.
Tumblr media
This breakfast is becoming very popular in all over world, because of its varieties, taste and deliciousness and enhances the taste when we eat this crispy plain dosa with aloo curry and coconut chutney.
 As we talked about the south Indian breakfast recipes, now let’s come to the north Indian recipes and their paratha recipe which is their most popular breakfast and it is like a national breakfast.
 Aloo Paratha is stuffed with cooked and mashed potatoes and roasted with oil. Aloo Paratha is a simple yet tasty alternative to chapathi, which you can have any time for Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner.
Tumblr media
 The good thing about Paratha is that it does not need any special Curry, even with curd also it gives a good taste. Try in your Kitchen and serve with butter to get more taste, especially kids will love this because they can eat parathas by making it as a roll.
Now after breakfast recipes here will talk about one more popular vegetarian recipe called vegetable biryani.
Tumblr media
 Biryani does not require any introduction because it is one of the most famous category of rice recipes, we have much famous non-veg biryani recipes and in between them, it has its own group of biryani lovers and followers.
 Veg biryani or vegetable biryani which is prepared with different healthy vegetables and with some masala used for nice flavor which makes this delicious and healthy too.

 Nowadays many people are afraid of eating outside pani puri because of hearing unhealthy ways of preparing puris. Don’t worry Prepare this crunchy puris for pani puri at home and enjoy the pani puri street food in a healthy way with same flavor and taste of Pani as outside.
Tumblr media
 And you may be thinking of how I left out mentioning any baking recipes which are most popular among all. Here I will share one cake recipe, a flavor of cake most popular which you can get in any category of cake recipes and it is chocolate flavor recipe.
 Do you want to learn Cake making??? And still, you are a beginner? For that, I think this Cake Recipe is perfect to start with a simple and yet Delicious Cake called Eggless Chocolate Cake.
Tumblr media
 It can be used as a base for any cake recipe, which can be prepared with very few ingredients even without egg and butter. As in its name eggless, without egg also the cake is moist with soft and beautiful texture and taste. Prepare cake in your Kitchen and celebrate happy moments with self-made cake.
 Any meal, we would like to end with one recipe and that is sweet dishes or deserts recipes as India is filled by many cultures and it follows different languages, culture, food and the way of leaving.
In this, the sweets also have different names, in different languages of the Indian states or region, a sweet is called by numerous names.
 One common name is "Mithai" commonly its main ingredients are sugar, milk etc.
So here we get different region dishes like
North Indian sweets
South Indian Sweets
Festival sweets
But here I like to end with one simple sweet recipe called semiya payasam or shavige payasam which is prepared in all over India.
Tumblr media
 Semiya Payasam is one sweet recipe which can be prepared during any simple occasion to big festival season. It is one of the simple yet popular tasty Payasam recipe, which can be prepared even by bachelors or newbies just under a few minutes. Try this quick and delicious sweet dish and enjoy with family.

Tumblr media
chapter five
Dinner this Friday night was at Felix's apartment. He normally cooked really yummy food, and you especially looked forward to his signature brownies, his speciality. He made them every time you had dinner at his, often trying out different variations.
Everyone arrived at Felix's apartment at a relatively similar time. His apartment wasn't huge but it was much bigger than yours, and he had decorated in a cosy minimalistic way. He always had candles burning so it even smelled cosy.
You were wearing a pair of white joggers, a white top and a pink cardigan, opting for comfort since you knew Felix would probably put on a movie for you all to watch after dinner. He loved the movie tradition, so still tried to keep it up when he could.
The other boys were dressed similarly, bar Hyunjin who was wearing loose fitting black trousers and a blue jumper, dressed smartly as usual. His black hair was down and straight again, and you'd noticed he had cut it slightly shorter, it looking more like a mullet than his signature long hair. In addition to Hyunjin, Minho had also changed his hair. He now has it a bright shade of purple.
"Hey, Violet. You're turning violet," Seungmin mocked when he saw him, quoting a line from Charlie and the chocolate factory in English. Minho probably didn't even understand, but stuck his tongue out anyway.
"I really like it. It suits you well," you said, ruffling his hair as you sat in your chair. "What caused the change?"
"Changbin said I was looking boring, so I thought I'd change my hair colour. Then Jisung and I played Rock Paper Scissors. If he won, it was purple and if I won, it was silver."
"I can take a wild guess at who won," Jeongin laughed, taking the seat beside you.
"I said you looked boring because you were playing sudoku, not because your physical appearance was boring," Changbin said with a smirk.
"Oh."
The look on Minho's face was priceless, and sent you all into fits of hysterics. He'd basically dyed his hair for no reason.
"Oh well, doesn't matter since it looks good," Jisung's said, catching his breath. At that moment Felix walked into the dining room with two trays of food and a huge smile on his face. It looked and smelled delicious, and you all starting eating straight away, falling into natural conversation as usual.
"I hope you all like it. I tried something different so I just followed the recipe, so if you don't like it I can make something else," Felix said as he started filling everyone's glasses.
"It tastes great, Lix," you said. Felix loved experimenting with different types of food and nine times out of ten it worked out well.
"So, Changbin, how's Myeong doing these days," Chan asked. Changbin instantly had a smile on his face from the mention of his girlfriend.
"She's good. We stayed in that new hotel that just got finished the other day - it's incredible. Fully recommend."
"We've not seen her in a while," Seungmin says to him with a cheeky grin. "Why are you hiding us from her."
"Because you are all so annoying and I won't subject her to the torture of spending time with you all," Changbin shot back, smirking at Seungmin and continuing to eat his food.
"Talking about dating," Jisung says, directing his question to you. "How was your date the other day?"
"Oh shit, here we go," Felix rolled his eyes with a laugh. You'd been continuously texting him about how dreadful your week had been, so he knew all about your disastrous dates.
"Absolutely fucking awful. He was probably one of the most ill mannered, dull men I have ever had the misfortune of meeting. I may as well have gone on a date with a rock. In fact, that would be discrediting the rock," you started, dramatising your experience.
"Oh now she's not going to shut up. I've had the brunt of it all week," Chan laughs with a shake of his head.
"No wonder! I swear you're finding these freaks on the street and paying them money to take me on the worst dates they can muster. Honestly, I think that Chimpanzee Steve was a better date than these buffoons," you laughed.
"Oh my god, remember him? He was the sweatiest boy I'd ever met," Jeongin laughed, reminding you of the guy you had dated for a couple months when you were younger. He had so much hair, and sweated from being constantly nervous around you that the nickname Jisung created for him stuck.
"I don't remember this guy," Hyunjin said.
"I think it was before your time, if I'm remembering correctly," you say to him and he gives you a small smile.
Everyone had finished eating by this point, so you and Jeongin began collecting plates and tidying up as the rest of the boys headed through to the living room. You don't know how your tradition of doing the dishes with Jeongin started, but you vaguely remembered losing a bet a long time ago and this being the result. You didn't mind it though, since it gave you time to talk to your friend.
"When's your next date?" He asked you as you were doing the dishes.
"Tomorrow. I've told Chris if it doesn't go well then I'm done with blind dating but he's insisting I keep seeing people until I find someone I'm interested in, it's infuriating."
"Why don't you just not go? Chan can't exactly force you to date," he said, making an extremely good point. You could really easily just not show up to these dates, but that would leave someone sitting waiting for you to show up and that would be unfair.
"What else would I be doing on a Saturday night? It makes Chan happy to see me going out. He told me he was worried about how stressed I was getting with my exams and everything, so I feel like I'm keeping him sane by following along with it," you explain.
Jeongin nods in understand, his adorable dark curls bouncing as he does so. He was wearing his glasses today, with a blue hoodie and grey joggers. You had no idea why Jeongin didn't date more, he had the looks and personality to.
"Enough about me, how's your love life at the moment?"
"Other than nonexistent, it's great," he replied with a grin. You rolled your eyes. "I'm just settling into this new job. I want to feel stable and secure before I even think about starting to date. I'm only twenty two, anyway. It's not as if I'm desperate for a girlfriend."
"Fair enough. It's my birthday soon, we can go out and I'll fix you up a woman," you said cheekily and he swatted you with a dishcloth.
"Shut up, I don't need a woman. You're enough for me right now, though I may not call you a woman... maybe a pig, or a donkey."
"Oh you're getting it, you little shit," you almost screamed, soaking the dish towel in the dirty water in the sink as you started chasing the younger boy around for being so cheeky to his elder.
"Okay! Okay, sorry noona! You know I love you!" He laughed. You both finished doing the dishes relatively peacefully and joined the boys in the living room.
"We've chosen a movie!" Jisung said excitedly. The boys looked adorable, cosy on the sofa with blankets and cushions. Felix, Jisung and Changbin were on one sofa, the beanbags were taken by Chan and Minho and Hyunjin was on the other sofa. Jeongin sat next to Hyunjin and you sat beside Jeongin, pulling a blanket up over your shoulders.
"Oh god, here comes Howl's Moving Castle for the millionth time," Jeongin groaned.
"Nope, he's gone for something else for once," Minho said with a smirk. You watched the tv as Spirited Away started playing and you couldn't hold back a laugh. "Albeit another one we've all seen a million times, but different all the same."
So you all settled in. You couldn't hide the fact that you adored this movie - it was one you grew up watching and it held a soft spot in your heart. It made you think of your mum, who you missed dearly. She'd decided to move back to Australia, where she had spent her teenage years growing up. That's how she met Chan's mum, who then all moved to Korea to raise their children. You were an only child, but growing up with Chan and his siblings made you feel as though you weren't. You hadn't seen her since your twenty first birthday, and you couldn't wait until you had money to spare to go to Australia to see her again.
Around halfway through the movie Felix's brownies were finished cooking, so it was paused so he could get them. Hyunjin went to help, and when he returned he sat on the other side of the sofa so he was beside you rather than Jeongin. You didn't think much of it and started paying attention to the movie as it was played again.
"These brownies are probably your best yet, Lix," you said. "What's in them?"
"White chocolate and raspberry. Weird combo for brownies but I think it works," he replied before Minho shushed you both. You rolled your eyes and finished your brownie, snuggling back into the sofa and continuing to watch the movie.
Beside you, Hyunjin passed round the tub of brownies again. When you asked for another, he passed it to you and you had no idea whether it was your imagination, but you felt his fingers linger on yours for a split second longer than normal. He looked at you with a smile and those big brown eyes and you thanked him politely.
You didn't know what was going on with him recently, but you could feel there was something off with you two. He was never normally this nice to you, often opting for bickering instead. It was starting to freak you out.
You didn't think about it much though, because you felt your eyes getting heavy. It was a long movie, and the cosy peaceful atmosphere that had settled amongst you all was tiring you out. It felt nice to not have clanking and banging in your ear constantly.
You finished your brownie and felt your head slowly falling, struggling to stay awake. It happened a couple times, your head slowly falling forward until you catch yourself. You're almost fully asleep when you feel someone placing your head to the side to steady it, and you stay there, sleeping peacefully.
You wake up the next morning to Felix, staring at you right in the face. You almost jump out your skin, absolutely petrified.
"What the fuck, Lix? What time is it?" You ask, startled. It was bright outside, and the last thing you remembered was watching the movie with the boys.
"Half nine. You're still at mine, by the way," he giggled. "You fell asleep during the movie and when everyone left you were still out for the count. We were gonna wake you up but Hyunjin said to just let you sleep since you probably wouldn't get any if you went back to your own apartment."
"Oh god, sorry Lix. I didn't mean to crash here, I was clearly just so fucking tired."
He waved his hand as if to say 'it's no problem'.
"Do you want some pancakes or something? I'm starving," he said, helping you up off the sofa as you wander into the kitchen.
You only nod and smile, happy with having a full night of sleep and knowing your friends care about you more than anyone else does.

top five soups 🍲
Wowwww….this is tricky…luckily two different people asked me this so I actually get TEN slots to rank them!! I am become souptual I suppose
5. Chili. Chili isn’t the most spectacular flavor ever but it’s up there, and it is a staple of my childhood & insanely easy. It’s also very versatile and with a few common pantry staples, you can use up a whole bunch of leftovers that need to get et. Highly recommend experimenting with red wine, Worcestershire, fish sauce, powdered msg, different hot sauces, and cocoa powder. A soup I have never ever used a recipe for.
4. Really good tomato soup, not the canned stuff, though no shade to that in a pinch
3. Made an enchilada verde soup a few weeks ago for my soup bucket list and it was honestly so fucking awesome and I’ll probably make variations on it for years to come
2. Autumn squash bisque/butternut/other similar autumnal bisques
1. Stuffed pepper soup might have to be my #1. Holy hell is that yummy…love it way more than even a stuffed pepper

Review: Batter Royale by Leisl Adams
Publisher’s Summary: In Leisl Adams’s debut graphic novel, Batter Royale, an aspiring amateur baker enters the toughest, ugliest, most fearsome fight she’ll ever experience: a baking reality show.
When seventeen-year-old small-town waitress Rose impresses a famous food critic, she and her best friend, Fred, find themselves thrust into the tough world of competitive baking. The contest is an intense ten days of bizarre challenges, and the competition is cutthroat. Some competitors are willing to lie, cheat, and sabotage their way to the top. Rose may be in over her head, but she is determined to show that she can become a top chef. Batter Royale is a fish-out-of-water style romantic comedy about climbing out of the circumstances you’re in and making your dreams come true.
My Thoughts: Even before reading, I could see Battle Royale was going to be a treat. The jacket design by Andrea Miller was lovely and the endpapers are pink and cute with strawberries floating here and there. The dedication page even has a smattering of sweet looking little macarons. It’s really not advisable to read this while hungry, but if you do, you’ll be wanting something to munch on pretty quickly.
There aren’t a lot of huge surprises in the story if you read the summary, but sometimes I like a book that I can just read without having to worry about unexpected twists. There are some shenanigans during the contest, but it never really goes into nail biting territory. I appreciated that the characters had some high stakes things happening, but the book wasn’t stressful to read. It was mostly like a cozy evening watching a baking competition on tv. Of course you might be cheering on a contestant or two and having hopes or small disappointments, but mostly, it’s just fun to watch.
There is a question about whether or not the main characters are interested in each other so there’s a little romantic tension, but again, not super stressful.
There are recipes between quite a few of the scenes. I hadn’t anticipated them, but after reading, I knew I would have to try something. I gave the blueberry scones a shot. They had less sugar than I usually use so they definitely weren’t overly sweet which I appreciated. The texture was perfect and they made for a wonderful breakfast.
Recommendation: This is a fun and quick story that anyone could enjoy especially if they lean toward low-key romance and like the potential for yummy treats.

Creamy Potato Soup
One of my partners gave me this basic recipe. Very easy, very yummy, very customizable! I'm giving the steps I used, but pretty much everything can be tweaked or substituted.
There aren't any exact measurements, but it's pretty easy to eyeball.
INGREDIENTS:
potatoes
seasoning of your choice (I used onion powder, garlic powder, oregano and salt)
milk or milk substitute (I've only ever used milk)
butter (optional)
whatever add-ins you like (I used bacon and shredded sharp cheddar cheese)
INSTRUCTIONS:
Make mashed potatoes. If you don't know how to make mashed potatoes, scroll down to the cut! (It's easiest to just mash them in the same pot you made them in, then make the rest of the soup in that pot also.)
With the mashed potatoes in the soup pot, add milk until you get the texture you want. More milk = thinner soup.
I usually melt a small amount of butter in with it at this point.
Stir it all together until smooth and blended. Personally, I use a whisk for this.
Throw in your seasonings of choice. This is also where I added the chopped bits of bacon.
Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for ~10ish minutes, or until hot and steamy.
Top with shredded cheese if you're me, or whatever you like with your potatoes.
MASHED POTATOES:
Fill a pot with enough water to cover the potatoes. Salt it and bring to a boil.
Wash your potatoes. Peel them if you like, but potato skins are edible, and as long as you wash them, leaving the skin on gives it a rustic texture if you're into that!
Chop your potatoes into small chunks.
Once the water is boiling, add the potatoes and cover the pot.
Cook them at a boil until the flesh is soft and mashable— you'll know it's done when you can take out a chunk with a spoon and mash it with a fork. (I don't time myself doing this, but if you check them every so often you should be fine. I wouldn't do it for less than ten minutes.)
Drain SOME, BUT NOT ALL of the water. It's full of starchy goodness and a little liquid makes potatoes mash more easily. You can also add milk here to make them creamier.
Mash 'em up! You can use a potato masher, or a fork if you don't have one— if you can't mash them with a fork, they're not cooked enough.
TADA. You now have mashed potatoes.

Excerpt- San Offers A Cuddle
Taken from the ATEEZ fanfic JC Saga  Chapter Three: Very Moist, This excerpt is safe for work, the full chapter is not. 508 words
~
Once the show was over the members retreated to their shared rooms leaving you to bunk on the couch for the night. To the man, they each offered their bed in trade but you truly were comfortable as a couch sleeper even with a now medication eased injury. You would also never live it down as a fan if any one of your favorite idols had to sleep on a couch the day before shooting a music video. For the good of ATINY was an answer they could accept and they left you for their beds.
Ten minutes later San padded over to you in the living room lit only by a night light. “Still awake?” he whispered.
“Yes, just settling in.”
“I don’t sleep well in a new place and I wondered if you would like a friend to cuddle with.”
“Thank you San but that’s really not what I am looking for.”
“You sure?” At this he drew Shiber from behind his back and by your grin he knew the offer of his Shiba Inu plushie for the night was well received.
“If this sleepover had been planned I would have brought one of my own stuffed animals. I truly will sleep better with Shiber at my side. Thank you, San.”
Pleased with himself, San slipped back to his room and you soon were sound asleep. It felt like only minutes later when you noticed someone pulling up the comforting weight of the blanket that had crept off you in the night. “You are my hero whoever you are. Thank you.”
Making sure to tuck Shiber in too, Seonghwa asked you to go back to sleep and said that he would cook breakfast to spare your injury. He offered to bring you another dose of the pain medication and some water but you reassured him that you were feeling much better.
By the time he got out of his long shower the breakfast preparation was already well underway. Rummaging in the cupboards you had managed to pull together a simple egg laden Dutch baby pancake which was beginning to puff up in the hot oven with a pan of bacon sizzling beneath it. With a few minutes left on the timer you put out powdered sugar, maple syrup, whipped cream, chocolate syrup, and cinnamon as topping options and started cutting up fruit to go alongside. Seonghwa made the rounds of the four bedrooms waking the others who caught the mouthwatering scents in the air.
After a delicious feast and pleas to stay over again, even if you did not cook for the members, you dressed in your work clothes and headed home with plenty of time to prepare for the day’s deliveries. Waiting in the garage one of the managers observed your early morning exit as he sat in the van. Soon afterward the boys tumbled out of the elevator buzzing with nervous excitement and the two vehicles took off for the first day of shooting the video of another hoped for hit, “Say My Name.”

Fire Soup
 Hello darlings and welcome to a strange, random post that I, well, I think will be helpful. As everyone knows, the world is in a state of crisis. We have a pandemic rampaging over our planet. This is particularly pertinent to me, as I’m Seattle-based, and we’re pretty much Ground Zero for Covid-19 in the US.
Scary stuff.
Now, before we get into this, I am a writer, not a doctor. If you’re sick, go to the doctor if you can, and take the best care of yourself that you are able.
That said, this might help a little. At least, I’ve always found it does.
Whenever I was sick as a kid, my parents would make this for me. Now, they didn’t do it from scratch, they would mostly add spices to canned soup, because it was easier. A few years ago, I found this recipe, and it’s amazing. Also, not difficult.
So here it is, Fire Soup!
 You will need:
4-5 large chicken breasts (frozen is fine)
1 large bunch organic carrots with the tops still on. (they taste better. I will die on this hill. I’ve done it with peeled baby carrots and they work, but it’s not as good.)
4-5 large garlic cloves (I’m being nice here. I usually use more, but I like garlic more than a human reasonably should.)
4-5 stalks celery
1 medium onion (white or yellow, but it’s good with about 4 shallots too.)
1 TB cayenne pepper (More is good. The fire will heal you. If you don’t like spicy, this is the wrong recipe for you.)
3-4 large sprigs of fresh rosemary or 1/3 cup dried rosemary
1 TB garlic salt
1TB whole peppercorns (or 1 TSP ground black pepper)
2 TB grated ginger (the stuff in the tube is fine)
2 TSP powdered oregano
1 TSP powdered sage
1 TSP powdered thyme
2 TB flake salt or 2 TSP regular table salt
(You can replace the oregano, sage, and thyme with 2 TB regular Italian seasoning)
½ package egg noodles. (Eyeball this. It depends on your liquid content. More on this later.)
2 cartons chicken broth. (Organic is good. Regular is fine. You can do it with water and bouillon too, but I don’t really suggest that.)
¼ cup soy sauce
4 TB butter
2 TB sesame oil (olive works too, I just like sesame better)
 Preparation:
Preheat your oven to 400f. Put all your chicken breasts on a baking sheet, drizzle with sesame oil (or olive oil) and season liberally with salt and cayenne pepper. Stick the whole thing in the oven for 1 hour or until the chicken is cooked through. You can do most of the rest of this while it bakes.
Chop the onion finely, chop the celery coarsely. Cut the tops off the carrots, wash, and peel, (In that order) and chop those into big  chunks. (about 1in or 2cm)
Empty one of your cartons of broth (or 4 cups of water) into a large pot and turn the heat on high. Add butter and oil, all your seasonings, salt, and the soy sauce, along with about half of your celery and all of your onion.
Boil the bajeezus out of it for about thirty minutes or until your chicken is done. (Boil on medium-high, stir occasionally. Add a cup of water if it seems to be boiling dry.)
Taste it here. Add salt if it needs it, and more cayenne if it doesn’t make the back of your throat burn. This is Fire Soup. It should be as spicy as you can handle for maximum effect.
When everything is about the same shade of whiteish grey, and soft enough to smush with a spoon, strain the broth through a fine sieve into a large, heatproof bowl. Watch out. This stuff is REALLY hot at this point. Set the broth aside, and rinse the rest of the debris out of your pot. Add the broth back into the pot, and bring it back to a rolling boil. Discard the debris. You don’t need it.
(Side note, if straining it out seems like a lot of work, or you don’t have a sieve, you don’t have to strain it. I do because my husband has strong feelings on debris in soup, and because I think it makes the soup taste a little cleaner.)
Your chicken is done, so pour the drippings (juice and fat) into the pot before you chop the chicken into bite size chunks and dump that in too. Add your carrots and the second carton of chicken broth. Cover with a lid, and boil until the carrots are soft but holding their shape.
Add the noodles and the celery, check to make sure that there’s enough liquid to completely cover everything and add another cup of water if it’s not. Cover again and cook until the noodles are soft (about ten minutes)
Serve with bread or crackers. I know it’s tempting to have this with milk, but don’t do it. Milk encourages mucus in the throat, and if you’re making this, you probably already have more than enough of that. Have herbal tea instead. Lemon and honey are throat-soothing and hydrating.
Eat this until you run out and make more, or until you feel better. It freezes well if you want to make it ahead of time for Future Sick, and is so yummy that I often make it because I just like it that much.
Darlings, I hope you’re staying safe and healthy, and that this recipe brings you some joy, whether or not you’re sick.
As always, happy reading!

🌞🧹🌻Hearth Witch Tips!🌻🧹🌞
04: Your kitchen eats with you!
Just like with the rest of the house, what you put into the kitchen also heavily affects its energy. When you treat the hearth in certain ways, it reacts in certain ways. Your relationship with any room in the house is give-and-take. That means that if you don’t give back occasionally, the room will grow cold and stop appreciating your presence. But there are plenty of ways to mend your relationship! And the first step is to identify the problem!
From my experience, there are three main reasons why the kitchen stops being a warm and inviting place: 1) You are filling the cupboards with too much toxic, processed foods; 2) You aren’t spending enough time in that room; 3) Or you aren’t keeping the room clean enough.
When there’s a problem in the hearth, it’s always either one of these things or some combination of them. We’ll start with number three since it’s the easiest to explain. The kitchen should be anyone’s top priority to keep clean. It’s where all of your food, the nutrition and fuel of your physical and spiritual bodies, comes from! What you eat is your first defense against illness, injury, and your mental health. If the kitchen is filthy, then the food you take into your body will also begin to develop the same properties.
To keep the kitchen clean, I always start my day by washing last night’s dishes and give the counters a quick wipe. Once a month, I take stock of what’s in the fridge and freezer and scrub them out to prevent bacteria build-up. Sweeping the kitchen floors happens once a week and takes me all of three minutes to complete, tops. Once per season, normally at the beginning, I scrub the floors with soap and water, descale the coffee maker, wipe down the other appliances, and clean out the cupboards. So the only true “cleaning days” for the kitchen is four days out of the entire year. The rest of the time, the chores only take me about 30 minutes. As a quick tip, rinsing your dishes before setting them in the sink speeds up the dish washing process a ton! I’ve personally never trusted dishwashers since they don’t clean stuff well enough and it’s easier, faster, and far more cost effective to do it by hand.
The next problem the kitchen’s energy might be suffering from is how much time you’re spending there. First, spending a lot of time in the kitchen is a great thing! It absorbs the energy you feed to it, so when you don’t go in the kitchen very often or just don’t spend much time in there to begin with, the kitchen grows darker and colder. It loses the warmth and emotion and love that would’ve been sinking into it when you aren’t there.
The way to fix this problem is actually really easy! Cooking your own meals ensures that you are in there for a good amount of time each day because of the prep work and meal planning, etc. Plus, you get healthier, tastier food that way too! If you can’t cook all that well yet, don’t worry! Just like any skill, there’s no talent involved in learning something. It just depends on how much effort you apply to it. Another way to boost the hearth’s energy is to just hang out in that room. Invite some friends over, set out a snack tray, and just chill in the kitchen. Of course, since it’s pandemic right now, it’s best to wait until that’s over with to try this approach. But you, yourself, can still hang out in the kitchen!
The last problem, and a very, very common one in this day and age, is the influence of toxic food. Just like how your house absorbs energy from the land its on and what its built with, the kitchen also absorbs energy from the ingredients you keep within it. Toxic foods include anything processed or with a bunch of added sugars, and even GMO ingredients to some extent due to the trace chemicals that are still on the crops. These kinds of foods, if that’s the only thing in your house, will rot the energy. Not to mention, easy to grab snacks also end up causing you to spend a lot less time in the kitchen if that’s all you eat. Needless to say, no one eats healthy all the time. I don’t either! But having only toxic food in your kitchen isn’t great for you or the hearth.
Once again, cooking comes to the rescue! Even if you’re bad at it, it’s the thought that counts and little by little, as your skills grow and improve, the kitchen will learn to help guide you. There have been many times where I’d be stuck on how to fix something and a bottle of spice would fall of the shelf right next to me. If you listen to the kitchen, it will listen to you, too! Even if you don’t have time to cook, snacks like apples, berries, seeds, nuts, and dried meats are all healthy alternatives! I usually keep kale chips in the house for some yummy, salty crunchiness!
                                    ------------------------------
If you are worried about cost with this approach (believe me, due to my own situation it’s been a struggle at times), I’ve found out several tips and tricks to significantly lower the grocery bill. Anymore, my bill would actually be bigger if I bought crap food instead! Here’s my advice:
☀  Plan your week ahead! I always plan four meals a week that I’ll cook, and three days that I’ll scavenge for snacks and leftovers. I also stick to the rule of “one simple, one chicken, one meatless, one freebie” to remain more cost effective! The “simple” meal is just something I can make quickly if I know I’ll be short on time. The reason for have one of the meals be chicken is because it’s a much less expensive meat than beef or pork, and it’s a little better for the environment. The meatless meal is for the same reasoning. Meat is expensive and commercial brands are horrible for both the environment and the animals themselves. When I do buy meat, I make sure to buy local, grass-fed, organic meat as often as I can afford to. Keep in mind that every time you purchase anything, you are casting your vote for what is acceptable for society to continue. The “freebie” meal is just whatever I’ve been craving. If I want some kind of beef, I wait until this day.
☀  Learn to bake your own bread! For those of us with the time, this is a great way to save money and to stay healthy! Basic, white bread is actually pretty easy to make and only uses a couple ingredients. Those ingredients also go a long way. It costs me about 24¢ to make one loaf of bread because things like flour, sugar, salt, butter, honey, and yeast are all things that you buy once and can use for several loaves before you have to buy them again! It’s also not as time consuming as you’d think. Yes, it takes about 2 hours, but most of that time is proofing so you can easily be running around doing other things in between.
☀  Grow a garden! Even if it’s just a small, window herb garden, it can take the edge off of your overall food cost. Portobello mushrooms are also super easy to grow inside with minimal effort and equipment. If you have outdoor space, planting a small garden with the ingredients you use the most can help immensely!
☀  Only buy what you need! I know those sales look crazy tempting, but most of them are actually bogus and don’t actually save you any money. Think about what you are actually going to use before it goes bad and stick to your list. The bottom shelves at the store, aka the ones not in your direct line of sight, are usually where the grocery stores hide the better priced goods. At the back of most stores that have bakeries, there’s also usually a spot to get baked goods left over from the previous day for a slightly cheaper price. Day-old baked novelties like bread, cookies, and cakes are still perfectly good, and much easier to enjoy where you don’t have to spend as much!
☀  Check what’s already in your fridge before making your list! This is a huge one, since it prevents food waste, which in turn prevents money waste! What can you make during this week that can use up some of the ingredients leftover from last week? You’ll be impressed how quickly your food cost drops when you aren’t throwing things away. Waste not, want not! This trick also applies in another way, as well. When making your weekly meal plans, what types of foods use similar ingredients? If one meal calls for a slightly pricier ingredient, what other food can you cook with that ingredient to make the cost worth it? This also ensures that you get full use of things without wasting them. For example, this week I bought some fresh mozzarella cheese. Because this item is a little more expensive, I’m using it to make both the tomato mozzarella sandwiches and the beef wellingtons I’m making this week!
☀  Buy mostly produce! One of the best ways to lower your bill while still eating healthy is to simply add more fruits and veggies into your diet! There are so many tasty recipes that call for these babies that you’ll never run out of options, and there’s several things out there for everyone! Because I deal with sensory issues, I had to experiment a lot with what textures and tastes I could handle, especially on the bad days, but even still I found an over-abundance of things I love to eat. Fresh produce is way less expensive than meat, and much less expensive than many of the more mainstream snacks like chips or other processed foods.
                                     ------------------------------ All in all, taking care of your kitchen will also end up taking care of you, as well! Spending time there, actually using the kitchen the way it’s supposed to be, and just keeping it clean can work wonders in opening up your home and making it ten times warmer and more inviting! Trust me, your health and home will thank you for it!

4. divide into equal pieces-12 for rolls, 8 if you want to use as sandwhich/hamburger buns. form round balls and place on a lined pan. (if making into buns, flatten top slightly.0 cover with a clean towel to rest for ten minutes while oven preheats to 425(f)
5. bake for 10-12 minutes or until nice and golden brown. (if your oven bakes unevenly rotate halfway through.) optional: brush with butter at 10 minutes for golden buttery tops.
its not a nice big loaf of bread, but if you just want some fresh bread and dont mind that this is the recipe my sister uses when she is rushing her family dinner prep, these are nice mostly because they really dont take too long. i made it for the first time a couple weeks ago and really enjoyed it with just some butter and honey or as a ham sandwhich. good luck in your late night one person cooking show

A/N: Hazel May is the name I gave MC in the game~ The songs that inspired this are:
Tumblr media
~~~~~~~~~
Gavin let out an exasperated sigh as he pinched the bridge of his nose. He shoved a report away from him that he was previously reviewing. Paperwork was not his friend, and he loathed every minute that he had to work on it. Leaning back in the chair at the kitchen table, he gazed up at the ceiling; his mind wandering around everything but the task at hand. A glance at the clock on the wall made him wish time would move faster, so Hazel would come home sooner.
As if the fates were listening there came a noise from the front door of the apartment. Gavin whipped his head around towards the door.
‘Oh wow, she’s early!’
He happily got out of the chair and made his way to his lovely wife. Though his happy expression quickly changed to concern as he was met with Hazel’s very tired looking face. The dark circles a dead giveaway that she was exhausted from going in to work much earlier this morning than usual.
“Are you okay?” A tone of worry in his question.
Hazel nodded weakly, rubbing her panda like eyes.
“We finished that project sooner than expected thankfully. Going in early this morning really helped,” she explained.
Hazel lifted her arms over her head and stretched, eliciting a series of loud pops. Gavin gave a bewildered look at his petite wife; she just sighed wearily in response.
“Go take a nap. I’ll take care of dinner,” her husband instructed after placing a kiss on her forehead. Hazel’s eyes lit up.
“What are we having,” she eagerly asked. Gavin blushed a bit as he scratched the back of his neck.
“I wouldn’t get too excited. I don’t even know if it’ll taste good…”
“Well, what is it,” she inquired.
“Orange chicken and rice,” he replied.
Hazel’s eyes sparkled with delight as that was one of her favorite dishes. The thought of Gavin making an attempt to cook it for her made her heart swell. “That sounds yummy! I’m sure you’ll do fine, you’re following a recipe, right?”
“Yes,” he said, holding up his phone.
“Then I leave it to you, my love. How long should I set my alarm for?”
Gavin pondered for a bit.
“Maybe an hour, that’s how long it’ll take for the rice to cook,” he replied, gesturing to the rice cooker on the kitchen counter.
“Aye aye, sir” she saluted as she sauntered towards the bedroom. With a small chuckle and a crack of his knuckles, Gavin turned towards the kitchen to start cooking.
Amber eyes scanned the recipe on the phone laying on the counter. One by one he mentally checked off each step though scowling at the overly fried pieces of chicken in the skillet.
‘Maybe the sauce will cover that up,’ he silently hoped.
Meanwhile, Hazel stirred awake about ten minutes before her alarm was set to go off. She figured she would freshen herself up before heading out to the kitchen. A faint burnt smell reached her nose, making it crinkle slightly.
‘Oh my poor husband’
Donning a pair of fluffy socks, pajama shorts, a tank top and one of Gavin’s old shirts, Hazel headed out of the bedroom. Gavin was in front of the stove, stirring the chicken pieces in the orange glaze when he noticed his lovely wife coming towards him. She wrapped her arms around his torso and nuzzled her face in to his back.
“Mm, how was your nap?”
*yawning* “Much needed, thank you. How’s dinner coming along? It smells good~”
Gavin scoffed, “don’t lie, I’m sure you caught that burnt smell when you got up… But dinner is almost done.”
Hazel giggled as she let go of her disgruntled husband.
“Then I’ll get the table set, my love,” she said while moving towards the cabinets. Hazel gathered the reports on the table, and set them to the opposite side of where they were going to eat. She then grabbed chopsticks from a drawer next to the fridge and bowls from the cabinet above. Next came two bottles of water out of the fridge. She handed the bowls to Gavin, who promptly scooped rice into them and then topped them with the orange chicken.
“It’s good,” Hazel happily exclaimed after taking a couple of bites. “And you were worried about how it would taste.”
Gavin nodded in agreement.
“I guess it did turn out okay, the glaze probably helped. Glad you like it. Next time I’ll pay closer attention to the frying part.”
Hazel gave him a reassuring pat on his forearm.
As soon they were done eating, Hazel got up from her seat and started gathering the dishes. This earned her a concerned look from Gavin.
“Uh, what are you doing?”
“Getting the dishes, why?”
“You had a rough day, babe, just relax tonight.”
“I wanna help. After all, you made an awesome dinner for us, the least I could do is the cleanup part.”
Seeing there was no arguing with his wife, Gavin surrendered the kitchen to her. Hazel gave him a kiss on the cheek and sent him to the living room. She hummed away as she rinsed off the dishes and placed them in the dishwasher.
Gavin could hear the humming in the living room, a smile plastering his face. A bit of fatigue started to settle in him and he began to nod off.
Music playing brought him back to reality, he didn’t quite recognize the song though. Just as he was about to turn his head to see what was going on, two small hands gently clasped the sides of his face and moved it upward. Warm amber eyes met with tender brown ones in a loving gaze. Hazel pulled away from her husband and started a sultry slow dance to the tempo of the song. Gavin sat up and turned around, watching intently from the back of the couch. His eyes widened as his little dancer started a striptease, beginning with the fluffy socks. She kicked the two socks towards the couch out of range of her “dance floor.” She slowly pulled up the old shirt from the hem to reveal the blue tank top underneath. The shirt also got tossed toward the couch as she turned her back towards Gavin. Hazel then began to tug on the bottom of the tank top. As she was just about to fully take off the garment, it quickly disappeared from her hands.
“Ah?”
She was startled at the sudden intrusion on her dance floor. Gavin had already thrown the garment on the couch when Hazel turned to investigate. Calloused hands rested on the last piece of clothing on her body, the pajama shorts.
“I thought I would get in on your little striptease,” he said as he nuzzled the back of her neck.
“Oh? Is that so,” she mused.
“Hm, when did you learn how to do something like this?”
“Hehe, that’s my little secret”
(Willow may or may not have been involved with this)
“A secre—,” his breath hitched at the sensation of her rear grinding up against his now growing erection. Hazel’s arms slowly raised and swayed to the beat of the song playing while Gavin’s hands inched their way upward. After successfully capturing her chest, he then lightly kneaded her breasts. He gave a small twist to her pert nipples, causing her to arch back into his body. She never missed a beat despite the apparent foreplay going on. Gavin exhaled sharply as her grinding got a bit more intense.
“Hah… if you keep this up…” he warned as he leaned into her ear, “I might just cum right now…”
Hazel cackled at the statement. Breaking free of her capture, she turned to her husband and clasped his hands in hers.
“Can’t have that, now can we?”
Hazel tugged her husband to the bedroom, snickering mischievously along the way. Gavin managed to get loose from her grip to hastily yank his shirt off. He then tossed it towards his side of the bed as the entered the room. Hazel motioned for him to sit at the foot of the bed, while she proceeded to straddle him across his lap. Strong hands placed themselves on her hips, to which she playfully batted them away.
“Ah, ah,” she teasingly denied him, earning her a frustrated growl from her dejected husband. She then initiated a passionate kiss, his hands trying to stake claim on her hips yet again. She batted them away once again, smirking evilly into their kiss. Gavin broke the kiss suddenly, clearly a bit irritated.
“How long are you going to keep teasing me?”
As much as she wanted to continue the foreplay, she found herself unable to deny him when he gave that pleading look she knew so well.
“What the..?”
Gavin wasn’t expecting to be pushed back on to the bed, let alone have his wife crawl over him towards the head of the bed. Hazel chuckled at his confusion but as she turned to face him, she was stopped abruptly.
“Wait… stay like that.”
“O-okay… ah!”
She gasped at the sudden yank of her shorts off her rear. Gavin proceeded to shed his remaining clothing, tossing them and Hazel’s shorts towards their closet. Rough hands wandered gently up and down her petite frame, with one hand traveling down to her core. A slender digit swiped down and across the little bundle of nerves, eliciting a moan from Hazel. The same digit then slid between her folds and into her slit; she jolted at the sensation.
“You’re already this wet,” Gavin asked, his voice low, just barely audible. He then positioned his length to her entrance. The anticipation had Hazel automatically clenching her walls as he slowly entered her.
“Fuu—ck, ah…” Gavin groaned, his forehead lightly touching between Hazel’s shoulder blades. The expletive concerned Hazel.
“You okay,” she asked breathlessly.
“Y-yeah. You just feel..so..good…..” he gave a raspy response. Thrusts were slow and smooth at first but soon became more erratic and intense. A high-pitched moan escaped from Hazel as Gavin traced circles on her clit. It wasn’t long until she practically screamed his name into her pillow as she came undone. The pulsating walls around his length caused him to unravel, chasing his own release deep inside her. The heavy panting from both of them filled the bedroom. Gavin once again placed his forehead on her upper back, this time leaving a trail of kisses along her spine.
“I love you so much,” he said, still out of breath.
“I love you too,” she purred.
He pulled out and collapsed next to her, strong arms capturing her in his embrace.
“How long has it been since we’ve done this,” Gavin asked while cuddling into the back of her neck.
Hazel pondered a bit.
“A month, probably? Our schedules clashed so bad that we really didn’t have time.”
“Hmm, I don’t…like..that…”
“Hey now, don’t be falling asleep yet,” she chided as she tried to turn to face him. His grip got tighter as he grumbled out “Why?”
Hazel managed to finally turn towards him, gently poking his cheek.
“We still need to get cleaned up first”
Gavin frowned at that and embraced her again.
“But I’m so comfortable and I don’t wanna let you go,” he whined.
“Gavin….,” she chided again, repeatedly poking his cheek.
“Okay, okay, I’m getting up,” he yielded to his wife’s playfulness. Hazel pulled a couple of tissues from the nightstand and did some cleaning up on the both of them before leading Gavin to the bathroom. He took her hand and kissed the ginkgo wedding ring. She blushed a beet red; he chuckled at the sight.
“It makes me happy that I can still get you to blush after all this time.”
After they got out of the shower, Gavin used his Evol to dry his and Hazel’s hair.
“How is that so effective,” she asked, marveling at how quickly her hair dried.
“I don’t know but I’m glad it is,” he shrugged.
Hazel giggled as a small breeze tickled her nose, tender amber eyes smiling at her through the mirror’s reflection. They got into fresh pajamas and got under the covers. Hazel snuggled close to Gavin as he draped his arm over her.
“I love you so, so much, goodnight,” she managed to say before the slumber took over.
“You’re my everything,” his voice lowering to a whisper, “Goodnight my love.”
