On the train home from Toronto last night my friend and I watched Moulin Rouge! and I couldn't help but think of dear little Dan way back in the day, watching it on repeat.
Then, inspired by his genuinely impressive musical theatre skills I witnessed at TIT, I imagined a far in the future Daniel in a Moulin Rouge stage production
Picture it: Dan as Harold Zidler, surrounded by bonkers queer can can dancers and fruity waiters 😍
Anyway, new fantasy for me!

The day after-Saturday the 14th
Daniel hated his job. If he had his way, he would have quit a long time ago. But the rent, utilities, and student loans weren’t going to pay themselves. They pay was overly generous, but that was not the problem. It was the actual work.
The job in question was simple housekeeping duties at Blackburn hill house. It was only for one day out of the year, but that single day was the absolute worst.
It was early morning when Daniel arrived. The house looked the same as ever: monumental, weathered, and forlorn on top of that bare and ominous hill. The front door creaked as rusted hinges moaned. It fully opened and Daniel was hit by a ballast of warm, musty air.
Thin, quivering shafts of light poured through the gaps in the shutters and curtains. In the gloom were the outlines and shapes of upturned tables and broken chairs. Shards of glass glimmered like diamonds, and everywhere were dark stains mingled with bits and pieces of goodness knows what.
“ What went on here?” Daniel sighed with much annoyance. “The place is absolutely trashed. Much worse than the last time.” He grumbled quietly to himself as he gingerly avoided stepping in the mess. If the entrance hall looked like this, what was the state of the rest of the house?
He made his way to the side of the grand staircase. There, there was a cupboard of cavernous proportions filled with brooms, mops, buckets, dustpans, soap, black bags, bleach, and almost every cleaning product imaginable. Daniel found a handcart nearby which he then loaded with as much stuff as it could carry. Then he went to the kitchens to fill one of the buckets with water before he began his work.
Slowly and methodically, he worked his way through the house. Into the bags went dust, broken furniture, spider webs, glass, and the odd bone and bit of mangled flesh. All the dark puddles were mopped up, and any place that was stained or smelled was bleached. And of course all the blood splatters and messages were meticulously scrubbed off the walls. Any clothing was to be put on the dumbwaiter and sent to the basement. Loose cutlery was to be returned to the kitchen, and all the axes, scythes and shears were to be put back in the garden shed.
The morning gave way to midday, which slowly faded into afternoon. It was an hour before dusk when Daniel finished his work. The house was cleaned, the skeletons were back in their respected closets, and the gouls were pacified. Everything was back to as normal as it could be. He let out a cry of relief then made his way to the front door.
He had made it as far as the foot of the stairs when he heard heavy footsteps on the creaky floorboards mixed with the plod of a cane. They went from distant to close as the old beams sang.
“Ah, Mr. Bradshaw. You’ve returned.” Daniel’s voice was flat and expressionless.
Stepping into the light was a gentleman who was neither old nor young in appearance. Only a few wrinkles crossed his face, and his hair was chestnut brown with no sign of grey. It was hard to ascertain the build as his body was almost entirely concealed in an old fashioned coat of high quality. All his other accessories, from his cane ,to his high boots, to his top hat and watch on a silver chain were all exquisite, albeit two centuries out of date, fashion wise. He usually wasn’t around on cleaning day, having to attend to ‘business’ that needed the entire day.
“My business concluded early, so I thought it prudent to return and check in on your work.” Mr. Bradshaw said. Even his voice and mannerisms were old fashioned.
“I have to say, I am impressed at what you have managed to accomplish. It is impeccable really, how you manage to clean up this place. Even after all these years, I am impressed.”
“I know that this year was a lot for you to take in.” He added apologetically. “My guests this year had been particularly rowdy and excitable. They really do not mean to cause you extra work.
“Listen, I know you do not think too highly of this job, and you have not since the first year, but I appreciate it greatly.” From inside a coat pocket, Mr. Bradshaw produced an envelope.
“Inside is your wages for the work that you put in. I’ve included a raise and a bonus for putting up with everything I ask of you.” He smiled as he extended his hand.
Daniel took the envelope gingerly. It was closed but unsealed. Without thinking he opened it and looked over its contents. Inside was a check for half a million dollars. There were also some antique silver coins, and a green diamond on a fine gold chain.
He couldn’t believe it. The money in the check alone would be enough to erase his debts. The coins and jewelry would fetch as least twice as much money, if not more.
Daniel felt overjoyed, and grateful. He wanted to say something to Mr. Bradshaw. But when he raised his head, he found that his employer had vanished.

OP, I take my hat off to you for level of commitment 👏
A small thing I have to add: I always noticed that Daniel wears neither braces (suspenders) nor a shoulder holster in AC, going rather for a belt with belt holster. I may be reading too much into it, but I always assumed this was because the former would have been uncomfortable with the crutch, and the way it kind of twists his upper body. (Of course, with the prosthetic, he's actually got belt on top of belt, which must be its own kind of uncomfortable, but they may not have thought of that because the actor isn't actually wearing a vintage prosthetic under his pants 😆) I hadn't observed that he'd moved onto braces by AoS S7, but I wonder if the cane and accompanying improvements in his gait have finally made it a possibility for him?
Some Thoughts About Agent Carter Costumes: On Style and Level of Comfort
aka ‘you won’t believe who actually is the little diva fashionista’
So in 2021, I set myself a little challenge: emulate the characters’ outfits so I can understand first-hand how they move and what historical outfits feel like. It’s been more than a year since I began that project, and I have some interesting findings…

Netlfix, seriously, just go ahead and announce season 2 because we ALL want it. I NEED it so badly just, do it do it do it.
In all seriousness, as for as YA book adaptation, this is top notch if not the best adaptation I've seen. The cast was A+, nailing the characters so beautifully and bringing life to some that I really didn't fully appreciate in the books. Specifically Archie with Mal, credits to him and the writers (and Leigh) for really working to make him a stronger, fully developed character. It was so well done and I am really rooting for them more so than I was in the books.
Crow wise. Brilliant. Absolutely fucking brilliant. Kit, Freddy, Amita, Danielle, Calahan; literally the most perfect casting. Period. I was so incredibly nervous when the show was announced how casting would go for the crows. They're my favorites, ones that I really treasured and when I tell you just the cast photo I had a feeling this was going to go well. Well was an understatement. I was absolutely blown away by how well they nailed the Crows. The humor, the small gestures, the teasing and comments; absolutely perfect. I have only one complaint, the same as Kit: GIVE ME WYLAN!!!
Also,Jessie as Alina, round of applause as well. I didn't mind her character in the book, but in the show I felt more connected and really was cheering for her and I have to give that to Jessie. Like Archie, she did a great job bringing the character to life and making her enjoyable, more fully developed tbh. I don't even need to go into Ben because I despise the Darkling as much as I did in the books so I'd say he was fucking brilliant.
The fact their budget was limited, they somehow was able to create a world so beautiful so incredibly well done and oddly inviting. The costumes, the sets, even the Fold looked nearly inviting. It all seemed so well done, so well put together and as I imagined it for the most part. The display of Grisha power was not corny but subtle and well created, not overdone like some like to do. It was believable and so cool to see displayed on tv.
Honest to god this is, to me at least, by far the best YA book adaptation in a long, LONG time. This coming from a HP, Twilight, Series of Unfortunate Events fan. I've seen YA books fail so badly (Euragon, ugh the heartbreak of that disaster) or just, be so flat it hurts...looking at you Twilight. Some having a cast that just, despises the entire book and movie all together, others so well connected and done so brilliantly only for the story to be torn to bits in some parts that you're left wondering if you read the same book at times (HP, never forgive you for that final battle scene, wtf was even that??). But for real, this had the perfect cast, perfect sets & editing, amazing music, fantastic writing to piece it all together and overall was just...absolutely amazing. Definitely going to be something I rewatch over and over and over again till the next season.
Thank you for not fucking it up <3

Daniel surprising his girls with reindeers ~T
Friday, December 10, 2027
Daniel’s father instincts went off the moment he picked up his girls from school, Penelope climbing into the backseat in tears with Clementine following right after. He glanced over his shoulder to her as she buckled herself into her car seat through her sniffles and sobs.
“Hey, bug, what’s wrong?” Daniel asked softly, reaching back to brush the tears from her cheek.
“Christmas is ruined!” Penelope cried.
“Why ruined? What happened?” Daniel unbuckled his seatbelt so he could turn a bit more in his seat to face her.
“How does Santa get to everyone’s houses?” Penelope asked softly, her voice wavering.
“In his sleigh. You know that.”
“He can’t when reindeer aren’t real!” Penelope sobbed.
“What? Who said that?” Daniel frowned.
“A kid in my class!” Penelope wailed, a fresh wave of tears flowing down her cheeks. “He said they don’t exist!”
Daniel thought for a moment, watching his middle daughter nearly drowning herself in her tears and his eldest sitting quietly beside her, staring at her hands in her lap. He sighed, looking between the two of them.
“They don’t exist, do they, Daddy?” Clementine mumbled sadly.
“They most certainly do.” Daniel answered.
“But I’ve never seen one!” Penelope argued loudly, shaking her head as if to prove her point until her messy brown hair fell over her tear-filled eyes.
“Do you want to see one?” Daniel asked.
The girls only blinked at him.
“Yeah. We’re gonna go see some reindeer.” Daniel said, as if confirming with himself as he turned around and buckled his seatbelt again. “We’re going to get Mommy and Lucy from home and we’re going to go see some reindeer.”
Penelope sniffled, wiping her nose on the sleeve of her coat and looked out the car window as they started for home, snow falling gently from the grey sky. It wasn’t far to home and Daniel parked out front of the apartment building and called Florence to get her to head down to meet them and moments later, they were all set to head to wherever their destination was. The mood in the car was melancholy as Penelope and Clementine were still sad and disbelieving – almost sure that Christmas was ruined – but Daniel wasn’t ready for his daughters to lose their belief of Christmas magic before even hitting ten years old.
Lucy was unphased at three-and-a-half, yelling for Daniel to turn on the music from the middle seat in the back, kicking her legs against the front seats until Florence had to tell her to sit still. Daniel turned on the Christmas station and turned up the volume to try and liven the spirts of the girls in the back – well, other than Lucy who was gladly screaming along to the lyrics the best she could – as he drove towards their destination.
About an hour drive later, they were far out of the city and near rural farmland that was coated in crisp snow and Daniel pulled into a long driveway trimmed in Christmas lights and framed in tall trees and he parked with the few other cars that were there. Florence and Daniel stepped out of the car, sharing excited smiles together before getting their girls out. Penelope sniffled as she stepped out onto the snow and reached for Daniel’s hand with her smaller gloved one.
“Where are we?” Clementine asked quietly, taking Florence’s other hand that wasn’t claimed by the youngest.
“We’re going to visit some real reindeer.” Daniel said as he locked the car and led his family towards the barn.
The property was used as a reindeer farm in the winter where you could go visit and feed the animals and the people who owned it made it all magical for the kids who came too. The barn was trimmed in Christmas lights and was packed with a few people and shy Penelope shuffled closer to Daniel as they walked inside. They found a spot right by the small fence that housed a couple reindeer, each with a red Christmas ribbon around their necks.
Penelope’s eyes went wide and she took a step closer to the fence to get a better look. Daniel petted her hair back from her tear streaked face and brushed it down her back to tame her natural waves, smiling at her shocked expression. Clementine joined her sister at the fence and stepped up on the bottom pole to see over the top and Penelope copied her carefully.
“Horsey!” Lucy shrieked excitedly from Florence’s arms, pointing to the animals.
“They’re reindeer, Lucy Lu.” Florence chuckled, pressing a kiss to her pink cheek.
“Daddy.” Penelope glanced up at Daniel and he leaned forward against the fence so he was bent closer to her height. “Are these Santa’s reindeer?”
“They sure are.” One of the workers answered for him as she walked over to join them, decked out in her festive farm clothes and topped with a red Santa hat. “Santa let us borrow them for a few days so you could come see them!”
Penelope gasped, her face breaking into a grin and she looked back up at Daniel before turning back to the animals.
“Do you want to feed them?” the worker asked the girls.
“Yes, please!” Clementine nodded, jumping off the fence to hold out her hands and the lady passed her a bit of reindeer food from her pocket and then gave a bit to Penelope and Lucy too.
“They’re really friendly but you have to be gentle.” The lady instructed as she called over one of the reindeer. “Hold your hand out like this and he’ll munch it right out of your hand!”
Clementine eagerly joined her with her arm through the fence, watching with an excited grin as the reindeer sure enough licked up the food from her palm. Daniel crouched down beside Penelope and held her hand out with his as she shyly hesitated but once the food was softly eaten up, she was asking for more to do it again.
Penelope’s mood was much improved by the time they finished at the farm, saying goodbye to each reindeer and giving the one they fed a gentle pet on the head. Each girl even got a candy cane as a parting gift and Penelope sucked on hers happily as they headed back to the car, hand still tucked in Daniel’s.
“Daddy.” Penelope looked up at him through her candy cane.
“Yes, Penny?”
“Can I please have a reindeer for Christmas?”
“Where would we keep it?” Daniel chuckled.
“In my room.” Penelope answered, scuffing her boots through the snow of the parking lot.
“I think we should leave the reindeer for Santa, don’t you?” Daniel said.
“Maybe.” Penelope mumbled.
“Do you believe in reindeer now?” Daniel asked as he opened the car door for her and helped her climb in.
“Yeah! I can’t wait to go back to school and tell everyone!” Penelope smiled.
“Tell everyone that you met Santa’s very own reindeer. How cool is that?” Daniel added, leaning over her to buckle her up and then help Florence get Lucy settled in the middle seat.
“So cool.” Penelope said.
He pulled back out of the car and leaned down beside her, “Would I ever lie to you?”
Penelope shook her head, hiding her shy smile behind her candy cane.
“Exactly. Trust me next time. I know what I’m talking about.” Daniel winked at her and pressed a kiss to her cheek before closing the car door behind him.
With all the girls buckled in, Daniel and Florence got back in the front and Daniel started the car and the music.
“I want everyone singing until we lose our voices!” he instructed loudly, turning the volume up loud before starting back for the main road towards home.

Who is Dr. Facilier?
Why am I envisioning writing a book about Dr. Facilier?
I’m a long time fanfiction writer (I officially started posting online in 2016) with a passion for doing writing as a fun hobby. I’ll never get famous from doing my work, but if some people enjoy it, then that’s all that matters. I might never finish said book, but you bet your bayou blues I’m willing to try. There are several reasons why I suddenly feel the spark after so many years.
After watching The Princess and the Frog (2009) for the nth time, it really got me thinking about the New Orleans culture and other potential sides to the characters. Dr. Facilier was a great villain people loved to hate...he was willing to harm those around him just to get the green. We all know how he lived and how he got dragged into the Guinee, the voodoo land of the dead. This earned him a high ranking on the Disney villain list, though he still remains criminally underrated in comparison to other villains.
When I listened to the Bayou Boogie soundtrack, several songs stood out: “Shadow Man,” “Do What I Wanna Do,” and “Love is a Magical Mystery.” As you may have guessed, all three songs are sung by Keith David, the voice of Dr. Facilier, but only ”Friends On The Other Side” was the catchy song he sang in the film. “Shadow Man” described the character’s suave sneaky ways of leading people astray. Like the shadows, he follows you around and you don’t even know it. “Do What I Wanna Do” depicts how Dr. Facilier manipulates people with false promises and the fact that he enjoys being a deceiver. He only wants what’s best for himself, the concerns of others don’t matter to him. In “Love Is A Magical Mystery,” love is more complex than any spell or potion. Although the song describes Dr. Facilier tricking people into knowing all about love, it may also refer to a lost love in his past.
But who is Dr. Facilier anyway? Never mind that we don’t know his first name.
In Princess and the Frog, Dr. Facilier mentions being a descendent of royalty through his mother (which implies that she may have been a Voodoo Queen. He might even be related to Marie Laveau.) He is African American with French origins. We don’t know whether Dr. Facilier was born in New Orleans or if he immigrated from elsewhere with his family. But there are a few things we do know. He practices both Hoodoo and Voodoo. Dr. Facilier had a poor upbringing, being surrounded by poverty and racism. Over time, he grew envious of the rich who either mistreated him or ignored him. The resentment toward mostly whites and the upper class led to his desire to take over New Orleans. Despite Dr. Facilier’s skill at manipulating and scheming people, he still didn’t make enough money to sustain himself…more than likely, he wanted to live a luxurious life. Life simply was not fair. To achieve his goals further, he needed help…from the other side.
Another thing we know is that Dr. Facilier encountered a group of dark Loa and formed an alliance with them, granting himself the ability to perform black magic. Loa are the spirits of Haitian Vodou and Louisiana Voodoo. They are intermediaries between humanity and the supreme creator Bondye. The Rada, Petro and Ghede Loa are three types of Loa nations. Dr. Facilier’s design is inspired by the Ghede Loa of the dead, Baron Samedi. The Loa aren’t necessarily “good” or “evil” but the Petro Loa are more aggressive and warlike. It is likely that Dr. Facilier made deals with Baron Samedi, Petro Loa Met Kalfu, and Papa Legba, Loa of the Crossroads. In the film, the Loa are inaccurately portrayed as evil Tiki heads served by living Voodoo dolls and shadow monsters. (Let’s assume that Met Kalfu allowed darker spirits to “cross over” into the living world, the beings “personifying” as Loa.) Dr. Facilier relies on them to use his magic, but if he doesn’t pay them with souls from New Orleans, they would take his instead.
Dr. Facilier is portrayed very differently in other TV shows and novels as well. However, they don’t reveal anything about his past. In the case of the TV shows, he is not depicted as the same kind of villain.
In the popular ABC’s Once Upon a Time series, Dr. Facilier is played by Daniel Francis in the Greenbacks episode. Tiana visits him and asks him to help her find a price. Facilier makes her think that a fraud named Robert is the prince. He ends up stealing a ruby from a medal and reviving Prince Naveen before teleporting him away. Regina, the Evil Queen, is his love interest. In Disney Descendants, he has two daughters: Freddie (Descendants Wicked World) and Celia. In Descendants: Isle of the Lost, Dr. Facilier appears as a headmaster of Dragon Hall, a school for the next generation of villains. Dr. Facilier appears as a less diabolical side villain to support the respective story arcs of the shows.
Vera Strange’s middle school novel “Chilled: Fiends On the Other Side” does an exceptional job in depicting Dr. Facilier’s sinister nature when his plan results in him becoming a militia in an alternate universe. (Tiana appears in her new restaurant from the end of the Disney film after Dr. Facilier’s official death.) The book centers on an African American boy, Jamal, who is jealous of his popular twin brother Malik. Jamal receives a skull necklace that warns him of danger. Dr. Facilier meets Jamal and offers him a chance to be popular. When Jamal refuses, the Shadow Man hunts him down and pesters him with cards and his own shadow. Dr. Facilier demands the necklace back, but Jamal steals his brother’s treasured trumpet and offers it in exchange. Although Jamal becomes popular, his brother becomes a shadow. Dr. Facilier eventually threatens Malik’s life, tricking Jamal into giving him the necklace. The two brothers become shadows, who are forgotten by their parents before they fade away.
Regarding Disney villain backstory films, Maleficent appeared in 2014, the sequel in 2019 and Cruella is set to appear later in 2021. If Disney enjoys exploring live-action remakes, then it should be no surprise that Dr. Facilier (and other villains) should get their own backstories as well. In addition, Disney is set to include cast member training at the Princess and the Frog Splash Mountain re-theme at Disneyland Resort and Disneyworld Resort. A backstory for this villain could promote this project and many others.
There are several noteworthy authors that have inspired me to delve deeper into the dark man’s past. The Disney “Twisted Tale” anthology is a collection of “what-if” tales that serve as spin offs to classic Disney films. The authors are Liz Braswell, Jen Calonita, and Elizabeth Lim, who have made ten books thus far. The titles of the books follow a pattern of being the name of a song: for example, “Once Upon a Dream” from Cinderella or “Reflection” from Mulan. The future Princess and the Frog inspired book will no doubt bear the title, “Almost There.” It’ll likely center around Tiana trying to earn her dream job of owning a restaurant, but with an evil Dr. Facilier attempting to manipulate her. “What if Tiana made a deal with Dr. Facilier?” Now that would be an interesting storyline!
Moreover, there are a series of books by author Serena Valentino that explore the backstories of Disney villains. She has written stories with extraordinary female protagonists. Thus, the author’s main focus is on the female Disney villains, with the Beast being the only male. Villains like Jafar, Hades, Gaston, and, of course the Shadow Man, don’t have their stories…yet. It is unknown if or when Dr. Facilier will get his own live-action film. Most of the fanfictions I have read are mostly focused on either Dr. Facilier in the TV shows or Dr. Facilier being in a relationship with Naveen or Tiana. (Dr. Facilier is in his 40’s while Tiana is in her late teens). No current backstory novel for a memorable Disney villain…something would have to be done!
The other part of how I got my inspiration comes from a unique adult musical web series that started on YouTube. There is a memorable villain who at first glance, appears to be a rip-off of Dr. Facilier. Behind the dancing demeanor, however, lies a diabolical demon every bit as charming and sly as Dr. Facilier. (Though the man could easily give Dr. Facilier nightmares) The man is Alastor from VivziePop’s 2019 web series Hazbin Hotel.
Alastor and Dr. Facilier share much in common. Both are from New Orleans in the 1900s and can do dark voodoo magic (complete with canes and top hats). They have French origins; Alastor is Creole. Both faced discrimination and racism, later doing evil acts to try and achieve their goals. They are both deal-makers and love to dance, sing and play instruments. Both have their own shadow minions as well. Yet, there are major differences too. While Dr. Facilier was evil in his life, he certainly was not a radio host and serial killer who later became a demon in Hell. I’ve made a dozen fan made stories for the demonic deer man, including a partially completed novel. Indeed, both my story ideas about their lives are sometimes intertwined. If Dr. Facilier’s sinister younger counterpart gets to be an instant icon, why not him?
So what would be the title of my book? “Shadow Man” of course!

Asaka Manato’s #1! - Part 1
In this GRAPH feature from 2016, troupe members were asked to vote on their favorite on- and offstage things about their top stars. Asaka’s was published in the November issue.
Since this is a long feature it is being posted in 2 parts to make formatting easier and more readable. Part 1 contains the troupe’s ranking of their favorite roles and revue scenes that Asaka has performed.
Note: Asaka’s commentary on the results is in italics.
Asaka Manato’s #1 - Part 1
What is your favorite of her onstage roles?
#1 - Jerry Travers, TOP HAT (23 votes) Eh~! I’m surprised!
“It was a role that let Maa-sama utilize her natural brightness and flirtiness 💖 (I was so happy to be able to play Jerry’s shadow ✨ Her tap dance and moves with the cane were also perfect 💖” - Hoshizaki Rio Hoshizaki-senpai! I wouldn’t have been able to do tap at all if it wasn’t for you!
“Maa-sama’s sunny aura made me so happy just being on stage with her!” - Kazuki Sora I liked Jerry too~ Although I didn’t know I’d have to do so much tap (laughs). But it looks like everyone was watching me take on the challenge, so that makes me happy!
#2 - Johannes Brahms, People Who Have Wings (13 votes)
“Maa-sama’s beauty and sensitive heart...I was really moved to watch her.” - Sorahane Riku I’m so happy!
“When I went to see it, my heart ached so much that I couldn’t get up right away…” - Akina Rui For real… (laughs)
This was another turning point role, like Jerry. The script, the direction, the cast, everything fit together perfectly...I really love this show, and I keep thinking I’d like to do something to surpass it.
#2 - Radames, A Song for Kingdoms (13 votes)
“She was glittering like the sun, and there were a lot of things about Asaka-san that were reflected in the character” - Yuuki Shion
It’s not often that you can play the same role a second time after a year, like with the Grand Theatre and Hakata productions, so it was a lot of fun!
#4 - Der Tod, Elisabeth: The Rondo of Love and Death (8 votes)
“I’d happily go to the underworld with him.” - Setohana Mari
That’s not right! (laughs)
#5 - William Shakespeare, Shakespeare: The Sky is Full of Endless Words (5 votes)
Other: Daniel, Melancholic Gigolo
“1) She was able to show off how she looked in a suit 2) That ‘tsundere’ feeling 💖 3) Even though he’s a gigolo, he’s actually earnest and reliable - It was perfect for Maa-sama 💖 💖 💖”
So funny~! (laughs) Stan (Makaze), you really love Daniel, don’t you (laughs).
From Misaki Rion
Jerry Travers, Top Hat I like all of them, but this one especially. Her wonderful dancing and her charming acting would make me so happy to watch her; was Maa-sama Jerry, or was Jerry Maa-sama! I love it.
Ah~ Mirion (Misaki) would pick Jerry, wouldn’t you! Yes, yes. It was such a fun show!
What is a memorable revue scene of hers?
#1 - HOT EYES!! scene 18, Forever EYES - EYE (FOREVER) (18 votes) I love it too!
“Her dancing by herself accompanied by the Chopin piano piece was so subtle and wonderful.” - Reimi Urara
It was difficult, but fun! The more I did it, the more I felt like I wanted to do things a certain way, so that was fun. Please look forward to the national tour starting in November as well!
#2 - Amour de 99!! - 99 Years of Love scene 15, The Passi Mansion - Gentleman Thief (13 votes)
“The tails of Maa-sama’s tuxedo moved so beautifully, and as she was smoothly dancing there she had the otokoyaku core and also a playful aspect, so it was the best.” - Sakuragi Minato
“THE PERFECT MIRACLE FLIRTY GENTLEMAN ✨” - Koharuno Sayo
Ahaha! What an amazing nickname I’ve earned! Thank you (laughs).

As for that, I actually got super into it… (laughs). At first I would just be standing on the stairs, but I felt like ‘that isn’t enough!’ and went all the way up onto the silver bridge, which ended up becoming a big conversation topic (laughs).
Other:
“There are too many, I can’t choose...Hm~m, Forever EYES, Energy For Tomorrow (from Citrus Breeze III), Salamander. I managed to narrow it down to 3… (laughs) 💖” - Makaze Suzuho

#2 + Sam/Jack, please
2. We were dancing but all of a sudden it’s a slow song and we’re standing here awkwardly staring at each other
part of the Sound of Music AU i am definitely not going to write
Jack grinned at the children spread out on the terrace, using broken bits of sticks as canes, laughing and giggling as they danced across the stones of the back terrace, tipping an imaginary hat to the crowd of Naval, Air Force, and Arm veterans inside the large Carter estate.
The annual Veteran’s Ball was underway and he and the children had been relegated to the back garden, out of sight. He adjusted Jonas on his hip, rubbing the back of his index finger alongside his soft, chubby cheek. “Don’t fall asleep yet, little one,” he said gently. Jonas blinked blearily up at him, frowning for a moment, before cuddling back into his shoulder.
Jack felt a tap on his arm and he looked down to see Daniel peering up at him, holding out the larger stick for Jack to take. “Dance with us?”
For a moment, Jack hesitated, looking down at the sleeping toddler in his arms. And then Teal’c was at his side, quietly taking his younger brother into his care. “Show us how it is done, O’Neill,” the teen intoned, nodding his head.
The rest of the children gathered round, backs to the entryway to the house, the party and officers forgotten at the prospect of Jack putting on a show for them. Jack sighed and stepped into the middle of the terrace, putting on a face of despair. “I don’t know, munchkins...I just don’t think I have it anymore.”
The kids looked concerned at the tone of his voice and he knew he couldn’t hold out on them anymore. With a dramatic twirl of his cane that had the children cheering, Jack began an approximation of tap dancing, rolling and swinging his cane between his fingers, tossing it up in the air and catching it behind his back.
He bowed dramatically to the sound of his favorite children’s laughter and clapping. He handed his cane off to Cam who was already doing his best to impersonate the moves he’d just seen Jack do. He ruffled the boys hair and looked down fondly at him--the boy wanted to badly to be like Jack.
“What about that kind of dancing, Jack?” Vala asked, bubblegum popping and smacking in her mouth and thumb jutting over her shoulder towards the crowd of waltzing officers.
Jack hesitated, hand running through his hair. “Gah, Vala, I haven’t danced like an overstuffed peacock since I was--”
From the side of the garden a new voice joined the Carter family and their nanny. “What Jack meant to say was that he’d love to show you, Vala.”
Jack stared at Colonel Carter, her dress blues sharp and cutting a hell of a figure against the bright lights of the party behind her. Her makeup was light but dark eyeliner smudged against her waterline, bringing out the blues of her eyes. Her medals and ribbons gleamed in the light and he had to admit he was impressed at the accolades.
He grinned at her, “Oh, yes. That’s what I meant. C’mon, doll,” he added to Vala, outstretching his hand. She reached to take it before a gleam came across her eyes and she looked between her mother and Jack. Her hand fell to her side and she put on a falsely sweet voice.
“Why don’t you and mother show us, Jack?”
Jack swallowed hard and turned sharply to Colonel Carter, eyebrows raised. She’s your daughter, he seemed to say.
Carter grinned at him, shrugging slightly, a pink blush staining her cheeks. He liked the way her skin looked in this light--liked it maybe a little too much. He shrugged and offered her his hand.
“Care to dance, Colonel?”
His voice was low and husky, soft and inviting. The force of how much he longed for her hand in his startled him and he quelled the feeling, smiling softly at her.
She hesitated for just a moment before slipping her hand into his, allowing him to lead her out into the middle of the stone terrace. He winked over her shoulder at the kids who huddled together, eagerly watching the dance and movements of their mother and caretaker.
“Take notes, kiddos.”
They giggled at his exaggerated eyebrow waggle and, to his surprise, so did Colonel Carter. She turned in his arms and squeezed his hand lightly. “I’m ready to take notes, too, Jack,” she murmured quietly, glancing up at him.
His mouth went dry and his mind reeled. Was she flirting with him?
Wrapping an around around her waist, feeling the gentle curve of her hip against his palm, he pulled her closer and brought his lips to her ear. “Ready?”
“Get moving, flyboy.”
The music from the party filtered out into the garden as they danced, providing background to their movements. She moved with grace, her heels clicking softly against the stone and providing a tempo to their dance steps.
Jack led them in a steady pattern of steps, flashing back to his own military days of old fashioned balls and waltzes. He grinned and pulled her closer when he heard Carter keeping count under her breath in a sing-song voice. “One, two, three, one two, three...”
“I thought all Colonels knew how to waltz. Don’t they teach it at the Academy anymore?”
Sam scoffed, her breath warm and condensing on the skin of his neck. He shivered and pulled her even closer, their bodies brushing together with each step. Her hand in his tightened momentarily as her medals caught on the lapel of his jacket and then she relaxed, turning her head and nose brushing against the cut of his jaw.
“I think they got rid of waltzing sometime after World War I,” she murmured softly, turning mischievous eyes onto his. “So, just after you graduated, I suspect.”
He barked out a laugh. “Leave an old man alone, Carter.”
The hand on his shoulder curled into the fabric of his jacket, shifting alongside his shoulder and brushing along his neck. She turned thoughtful, her movements slowing as they stopped dancing a traditional waltz and instead opting for a gentle sway around the stones.
“Not so old,” she said softly, eyes meeting his before dropping briefly to his mouth, the tip of her tongue wetting her lips. He swallowed hard, suddenly acutely aware of how beautiful the woman in his arms was, how he had stopped listening to the music a long time ago, how everything had faded into the background--become soft and blurry, leaving only Sam behind, sharp and clear and perfect.
“Sam,” he said softly, the taste of her given name filling his mouth.
They stopped moving altogether, the moment hanging between them, eyes flicking down to the other’s mouth.
A dark-haired teenager popped up beside them, startling them from the moment. “Uh, hello? Mom? Jack?” Vala waved a hand between their faces, grinning slyly. “The music stopped like, a few minutes ago.”
Jack stepped back from the Colonel, straightening his jacket and running a hand through his hair nervously. He hadn’t blushed since he was eight years old, but here he was: blushing at the thought of Samantha Carter pressed into his arms, mouth on his and--
“You should get back to the party,” he said to the Colonel, eyes darting away from her. “I’ll get the kiddos ready for bed.” He forced a smile up at her, willing the awkwardness, the heat and tension, to dissipate.
He had a good thing going here--a family of sorts and a group of children who loved him, who needed him. For the first time in a long time, he felt like he had purpose, had a home.
The Colonel stared at him, searching for something in his face. Whatever it was she was looking for, she must have found because she smiled softly and nodded, leaning down to press a kiss to the top of her children’s heads.
“I”ll see you tomorrow,” she said to Jack, turning sharply on her heel and rejoining the festivities inside her estate.
He watched her go, eyes drifting to her rear and admiring its shapeliness for a moment, before a small smile stretched out over his mouth. See you tomorrow sounded like a hell of a promise, a promise of a tomorrow and a next day and a next day...
Maybe he’d dance with her again.

REALLY LONG CHARACTER SURVEY.
BASICS. FULL NAME : Aristide Javert NICKNAME : n/a AGE : ~50 is default, generally 40s-50s BIRTHDAY : January 1 ETHNIC GROUP : Romani. NATIONALITY : French. LANGUAGE / S : French, Romani; with the addition of some Spanish in modern verse. SEXUAL ORIENTATION : Bisexual. ROMANTIC ORIENTATION : Demiromantic. RELATIONSHIP STATUS : Single (verse dependent) CLASS : Working class. HOME TOWN / AREA : Toulon, France. CURRENT HOME : Paris, France. PROFESSION : Law enforcement in nearly every verse, except when he’s in the army. or a werewolf
PHYSICAL. HAIR : Very dark brown, which fact is most noticeable in bright sunlight; otherwise it tends to look black. It’s long, lustrous, thick and surprisingly soft with a slight wave, nearly always pulled back in a simple ponytail. In canon this is done with ribbons, sometimes in silk and color for special occasions. EYES : Deep-set almond shaped eyes of a striking, even unsettling silvery grey hue. They give off a strange impression of glowing at night. NOSE : Large, flattened-looking, seems broken in at least one place. Prominent and very big nostrils. FACE : Broad and squareish with a generous cliff of a jaw surrounded by copious whiskers and not a lot of forehead. LIPS : Thin lips, slightly darker than his skin with a pinkish cast. COMPLEXION : Light copper with a slightly cool undertone. BLEMISHES : Birthmark on his right heel, oddly shaped. SCARS : Several shallow scars on his hands and arms, one long scratch on his neck, one deep stab wound on his chest. TATTOOS : None. HEIGHT : 6′4″ WEIGHT : 190 lbs. BUILD : Large. FEATURES : Rectangular, blunt, heavily covered with bushy sideburns. ALLERGIES : None. USUAL HAIR STYLE : Pulled back in a tight ponytail. USUAL FACE LOOK : It’s less severe in modern verse, but it’s a question of degrees. He always seems to be frowning. He looks formidable, forbidding. Like he’s not someone you want to cross. Of course, that mostly goes for lawbreakers. He rarely smiles; while on duty, it’s reserved for moments of great success. Those who see it and are not also with the police will be unnerved at the least. USUAL CLOTHING : No matter the century Javert always looks immaculately put together, with inexpensive but meticulous clothing. In canon era he’s almost always wrapped in a long coat; underneath it is black and white outfits, leather stock or a simple white cravat. Capping him at either end are black leather boots and a top hat. In modern, at work he always wears a variation of the same outfit, cheap wool suits with shirt and tie. The only variety comes with the colors— the suits are usually black or grey, but the shirts besides white also come in pastels, and the ties in rich hues like maroon, navy blue, etc. Outside work— rare but it does happen— he wears more comfortable clothes, jeans and t-shirt, hoodie. For the non-existent dates, he’d wear another suit but in a rich color like royal blue.
PSYCHOLOGY. FEAR / S : Failure, uncertainty ASPIRATION / S : To uphold the law and remain beyond reproach himself POSITIVE TRAITS : Diligent, hard-working, intelligent, motivated, honest NEGATIVE TRAITS : Stubborn, rigid, narrow-minded, impatient, unsympathetic MBTI : ISTJ ZODIAC : Capricorn. TEMPERAMENT : Choleric (phlegmatic a close second). SOUL TYPE / S : hunter/leader ANIMALS : Wolf, bulldog, hound, tiger VICE HABIT / S : Occasionally a pinch of snuff. In modern verse he smokes cigarettes often. FAITH : Agnostic— without proof one way or the other he’s not willing to say God doesn’t exist, but if he does, it’s as a distant creator. Mostly he doesn’t care because it’s irrelevant to his work. GHOSTS ? : No. AFTERLIFE ? : No. REINCARNATION ? : No. ALIENS ? : No. In an X-Files AU, he’s the Scully. POLITICAL ALIGNMENT : Conservative. ECONOMIC PREFERENCE : He’d prefer to be comfortable, but he doesn’t have many needs and beyond that he doesn’t care. SOCIOPOLITICAL POSITION : Working class EDUCATION LEVEL : mostly self-taught in canon era, baccalauréat(/high school) and some night school classes in modern.
FAMILY. FATHER : Fermin Xabier, thief and general conman MOTHER : Inès, fortune-teller SIBLINGS : Unknown EXTENDED FAMILY : None he knows or cares about. NAME MEANING / S : Aristide comes ultimately from the Greek for “best” and a patronymic suffix. Javert is the gallicized form of his father’s surname, meaning “new house.” (To be precisely accurate it should have been Chabert or Chavert but he wanted as much separation from the man as he could get without actually denying the truth.) HISTORICAL CONNECTION ? : As newly created name, Javert has none; Xa(v)ier was the name of a saint. Aristides the Just was known for his integrity, called “the best and most honourable man in Athens.”
FAVOURITES. BOOK : He reads, but not for fun. The closest he comes to this is probably a law manual. MOVIE : He doesn’t watch a lot of movies or love the ones he does. Something where things are pretty black and white and the good guys win by honest means. Especially ones with solidly moral lawmen, of course. True Grit, maybe? 5 SONGS : “Remember the Name” - Fort Minor; “Run Run” - Indila; “Le Chat” - Pow woW; “Twist and Shout” - the Beatles; “Livin’ La Vida Loca” - Ricky Martin DEITY : indifferent, would say God though. HOLIDAY : Halloween MONTH : None. SEASON : Autumn. PLACE : Ile de la Cité, the quais WEATHER : just before a storm SOUND : fire crackling, the crunch of boots in the snow, the tap of a cane on pavement SCENT / S : leather, sandalwood, fresh rain, fungi TASTE / S : blood, spicy, dark chocolate FEEL / S : cool marble, calloused hands, suede ANIMAL / S : wolf, tiger, dog, hawk NUMBER : No comment. COLOUR : royal blue
EXTRA. TALENTS : investigation, disguise, obeying authority. BAD AT : compassion, feelings, not being a judgmental asshole. Failure. TURN ONS : directness, honesty, good character; literal turn-ons: hair-pulling, the chase, dominance, power play, biting & scratching, strength, playfulness. TURN OFFS : crying, dishonesty, crime, poor people, filth, disorder, waste. HOBBIES : savate, stars. Is reading technically a hobby if he hates it? TROPES : Well, naturally there’s the Inspector Javert; also Boomerang Bigot, Awesomeness by Analysis, Badass Boast & Big Damn Heroes in the same scene, Black and White Insanity, Celibate Hero, Deadpan Snarker, Driven to Suicide, Evil Cannot Comprehend Good, Face Death With Dignity, The Fettered, Kill Me Now or Forever Stay Your Hand, Knight Templar, Redemption Equals Death, Sherlock Scan,Troubled Sympathetic Bigot,Turn In Your Badge, Two Roads Before You, The Unsmile, Villainous Breakdown AESTHETIC TAGS : idk what this is. GPOY QUOTES : “He who labors diligently will never know despair, for all things are accomplished by diligence and labor.” “Not only did you violate the rules, you also failed to understand the principal lesson.”
FC INFO. MAIN FC / S : Anthony Perkins, Benjamin Bratt ALT FC / S : Javier Bardem, Edgar Ramirez OLDER FC / S : Adrian Schiller? YOUNGER FC / S : Tyler Posey, Adam Rodriguez, Daniel Radcliffe, Richard Armitage VOICE CLAIM / S : don’t ask me to choose but a selection— Ignasi Vidal, Tam Mutu, Jacques Mercier, Norm Lewis, Earl Carpenter GENDERBENT FC / S : None.

Write a fic about dan and phil and the babadook
oh god i knew this would happen —-A Ball-Badook by dangoghsWord count: 1850 (i hav no lif)A/N: WH Y,, also dan and phil basically go to a gay ball with the Babadook as their chauffeur/host. Also I have never seen the movie and I dont know whether he actually talks and if he does he probably doesnt have a Russian accent but uh oh well—-When it happened, it was 11:59 pm and Dan and Phil were having cuddles on the couch while watching a Lord of the Rings movie. Phil had his arm around Dan and they were very cozy, with a mound of blankets surrounding them and the faint voice of Gollum yapping about the ring. Phil was leaning in for a quick kiss when the clock struck twelve, and then…something magical happened. The TV turned to static. The windows opened on their own. Their blankets ruffled and the furniture shook. And then they watched as an odd black creature with a top hat flew in. No, not flew in. There was a rainbow going through their window, which it appeared to be walking on as if it was solid. How a rainbow was visible in the middle of the night, neither of the boys knew. The creature stepped off of the rainbow and onto the soft living room carpet. Dan and Phil were shaking more than the furniture was now. What was this thing? How did it get in here? The black creature had a pair of terrifying, round eyes, and a mouth of small teeth that was permanently open. Its hands were spindly and as black as the night sky. “Hyello, children. I am the Babadook.”The Babadook, the Babadook! What a horrific name. Dan quivered in fear and squeezed closer to Phil. “Why are you here?” Phil questioned, always calm, always collected. He was scared, but he wasn’t about to show it.“Do not wurry, my chiyuld. I am here only to delyiver you to my yearly ball.”“What ball?” Phil replied. Dan was clinging to his boyfriend and staring at the Babadook like it was an alien. Which it very well could’ve been, to be honest.“Vell, my yearly Ball-badook, of course! Come, children. Stand up,” the Babadook ordered, waving with its spidery hands. Dan and Phil were in too much shock to disobey it, and they reluctantly disentangled and got up from the soft couch, still holding each other in latched fingers. Suddenly, after the Babadook twitched its hands again, the air became a rainbow prism swirling around the boys. Red and yellow and blue swarmed in all directions, with beautiful sparkles in every corner of the living room.“Danyul, vut is yoor favoreet color?” the Babadook asked.“Uh-uh-black?”“You are lying. I can tell. It is obviously peenk, baby peenk. Color of squooshy baby bottom.”“WHAT? N-no-”“Dan? Is he right? I thought you hated pink,” Phil chimed in. “I-uh-”“Does not matter. Please stand very straight, Daniel, or else this will not vurk.”Dan quickly straightened his back in fear. The Babadook swished its finger and sparks flew deafeningly towards Dan’s torso. Phil’s boyfriend shouted over the roar of the magic, “WHAT’S HAPPENING TO ME?” Phil couldn’t see his boyfriend anymore as he was completely enveloped in swirling glitter. “AHHH!”“What are you doing to him? Is he hurt?” Phil demanded the Babadook. If this fugly thing had inflicted even the slightest paper cut on Dan, Phil would grab it by the neck and toss it out the window.“Yolki palki, I am just changing his clothes! He is very weak boy, can’t stand a leetle discomfort!” Changing his clothes? Was this Cinderella or something? Then the sparkles parted with Dan and Phil could see him again. Except, his pajamas were gone, replaced by a lavish pink suit with a bedazzled tie. “There we go!’ Said the Babadook. "You look fabulous!” Dan adjusted his tie, blushing heavily. “Th-thank you? How-” he articulated, but was interrupted by the all-business creature.“Now, you, Pheelip. You like blue, no?”“Yes,” Phil agreed.“Okee.” And then, the magical Babadook did its thing, and there stood Phil in a dapper blue tuxedo. He had a rainbow bow tie about his neck, a foil to Dan’s sparkly. Dan couldn’t look away, because the ensemble matched Phil’s eyes perfectly.“This is amazing! How did you do that? Wait, how do you know our names? For that matter, how did you find our address?” “Eet is secret. Now, we must go, or else you vill be late.” Dan and Phil looked at each other, overwhelmed by this glorious Babadook, but they were curious as to where it would lead them, so they simply follow the Babadook to the magic carpet-like rainbow waiting at the window. It took off the black top hat it had worn on its head and gestured to the rainbow like they were supposed to just step on it. “But how does it work? What if you are tricking us and it’s an illusion and then we will fall and die?” Dan inquired. He squinted at their herald with suspicion. Why would this monster thing deliver them to a ball?“Shut up. You are a gud child, the world tyells me that, but you also very annoyeeng. I like you-”-he flicked a finger at Phil again-“byetter. Daniel, do you want to go to ball or not? Styep onto the rainbow.” Dan surrendered. “Fine!” he huffed, and stepped on the translucent rainbow carpet that stretched across the sky. Phil hurried after him, and lastly the Babadook came, closing their window behind it. They only had a moment to look out on the London skyline before the rainbow, like it was being pulled in on the other end, rushed away from their apartment building. “WhOAAAA!” Dan and Phil screamed. The Babadook simply stood stoically on the red stripe of the magic ribbon rainbow, and glared at them. “Whiny children. You make a fuss of nothing,” it remarked, leaning onto a metal cane blacker than even its dark hat. Even though the ribbon was moving at lightning speed, the three of them weren’t even wobbling. It was akin to the movement you would experience in a high-tech sideways elevator. In a couple of minutes, the rainbow finally stopped.Dan and Phil looked away from the Babadook and gasped. Rainbow columns and glorious staircases stood all around them. Guests danced dressed as colorfully as the Babadook had wardrobed them. Buffets lined the halls, where bodacious cakes of different pride flag color schemes and pizza for all resided. A disco ball refracted colorful little specks on the walls of a ….. magnificent rainbow palace. “Vyelcome to my house. A haven for everyone in LGBTQ plooss community.”“It’s…beautiful,” Dan murmured, memorizing every inch of it. “Thyenk you. Enjoy the Ball-Badook.” And with that, the Babadook bound away. Dan and Phil were both relieved to be rid of its horrid face and direly unnerved from cluelessness. “Should we…mingle?” suggested Phil. They appeared to know none of the people, and the other guests were very preoccupied with their friends and partners. Dan scrunched his pink-clothed shoulders from intimidation. “I-uh-can we not? If this is only an annual thing, I don’t want to be so preoccupied with meeting new people that I don’t enjoy it with you.” Phil shyly beamed, for he didn’t actually want to talk to the crowd either and because his boyfriend was being cute. “Of course.” With that, he took Dan in his arms and pulled him to the dance floor, where “Love Someone” by The 1975 was playing. Dan was startled with Phil’s spontaneity. How did he amaze him every time? They slow danced for a few songs, bathing in the rainbow reflections and soft atmosphere. The night had been quite wacky so far, but now the couple fekt safe and peaceful. It didn’t do harm that each of them couldn’t stop looking at each other because of their lovely custom outfits. In that moment, they were just in love with no one else in the world, and Phil leaned in for a snog and Dan leaned in too, and their lips were almo-“HEY NOW! YOU’RE AN ALL-STAR!” The tranquility was short-lived, and the calm harmonies of “For Him.” by Troye Sivan were interrupted by All-Star and the Babadook’s wretched voice. Dan and Phil broke apart, shocked. The second time their moment had been interfered with by this thing!“HYELLO MY VUNDERFUL GUESTS! VYELCOME TO THE BALL-BADOOK! IT IS NOW TIME FOR A SHORT DJ SESSION OF MY ALTERNATE PERSONA, DJ DOOK!!” tne Babadook shouted over Smash Mouth. “HYERE IS MY BOYFRIEND, SHREK, THEME SONG! ENJOY OR I WEELL KYILL YOU!”Somehow, Dan and Phil were not surprised that the Babadook and Shrek were lovers. They just grumbled in annoyance for the loud music. How long was the DJ Dook going to play for?“We might as well dance!” Phil yelled, chuckling. He grabbed Dan’s hand and twirled him round. They danced through “I’m a Believer”, “Mambo no. 5”, “Ice Ice Baby”, “Friday”, and “Spooky Scary Skeletons” before they were finally ‘ryick rolled’ by the DJ Dook. As “Never Gonna Give You Up” came to an end, Phil offered to grab them some drinks. Dan applauded the Babadook for a playlist that was simultaneously iconic and irksome. Phil returned shortly with two margarita glasses of a rainbow liquid. The bubbles inside wibbled and wobbled with the faint movements of Phil’s palms. “I’ve never seen this before. What’s it called?” Dan asked.“It’s called 'Liquid Love’. The barwoman said it was crafted by the Bar-Badook, the Babadook’s other persona.”“Uh. Okay. Toast to the Babadook?”“Sure.” They clinked their glasses, making the drinks fizz shimmeringly, and took a gulp each. What they didn’t know was that Liquid Love affected your heart, not other organs. Every emotion in it would be multiplied in power by 666. For Dan and Phil’s hearts, which were already bursting a lot more than the average couple with both love and lust for each other, this was NOT a good idea. “Whoa. I suddenly feel…extra gay. Phil, wanna climb on that chandelier and make out?”“Me TOO! You look like the hottest man on earth right now, Dan. I love your pants. Can i have them? Like now. As well, I comply one hundred percent to your chandelier concept.”——–
When they woke up, it was noon, and the rainbow of the palace had vanished. So were their gorgeous suits. Dan lifted his eyelids first to feel the comfort of blankets and his old couch. Phil was drooling on his chest. “Phil,” he whispered. “Mmmm??” Phil snuggled even closer. “Phil, it’s morning, and I don’t remember anything past when we took those weird drinks. Do you recall?”There was no response, so Dan took a totoro pillow and whacked him with it. “PHIL!”Phil opened his own eyes and looked up at Dan. He yawned adorably and stretched, accidentally hitting Dan in the nose. “Mmm… just that I felt really infatuated with you.”Dan narrowed his eyes playfully. “But aren’t you always, babe?”“Yes, but like extra.”Dan laughed. Suddenly he noticed a pastel rainbow post it stuck onto the couch. Scrawling handwriting in black ink was spurted across it. “You are byest guests I have hyad in a vile. You owe me nyew chandyelier, but eet ok. Sincerely, Babadook.”

CANTLON: WOLF PACK OFF-SEASON VOLUME 3
BY: Gerry Cantlon, Howlings HARTFORD, CT -Much is going on in the hockey world. You would think the hockey season is coming to a close with the playoffs in the conference finals, but the hockey world is not slowing down. The hockey hotbed of North America in May of 2019 is actually North Carolina. The red-hot Carolina Hurricanes knocked off the defending Stanley Cup champions Washington Capitals and followed by sweeping the New York Islanders, but have been derailed from their express to the Stanley Cup Finals by the Boston Bruins in the Eastern Conference finals. The Bruins have won the first three games in the contemporary version of a Hartford Whaler - Bruins, Adams Division rivalry redux some 22 years later. Meanwhile, the Hurricanes AHL farm team, the Charlotte Checkers, who were the league's best team throughout the regular season, have been true to form in the playoffs. They took out the Boston affiliate, the Providence Bruins in four games, and then swept the red-hot Hershey Bears, who ironically enough are the Washington Capitals affiliates. Charlotte scored seven goals in Game 2. That was the first time Hershey has surrendered seven goals in a playoff game since 2012. They scored two late goals in the third period of Game 3 to take a 3-1 win. They won Game 4, 6-2, with Aleksi Saarela, a one time Rangers draft pick, scoring a hat trick. Ex-Pack defenseman, Bobby Sanguinetti picked up two assists. The seven wins in eight games came despite the Checkers losing their leading scorer, Andrew Poturlarksi, for two games to an undisclosed injury. They also had to deal with briefly losing their goalie, Alex Neidljkovic, who was recalled to the big club in Carolina. They lost top defenseman, Jake Bean, for the rest of the playoffs as a result of the Hurricanes Trevor Van Riemsdyk’s season-ending shoulder injury that required surgery on the Hurricanes. Bean got replaced by a sixth-round ‘Canes prospect, Jesper Sellegren, whose Swedish postseason was over. The Checkers will meet up with the Toronto Marlies, another scorching hot and unbeaten playoff team in the Eastern Conference Finals. Without disrespecting the other teams in the race for the Championship, the battle between Charlotte and Toronto is the real Calder Cup final. It will be played starting in Charlotte next Friday and they'll play in a 2-3-2 format. Should Carolina find a way back into the series with Boston, or Charlotte were to win it all, or both squads capture gold, there is one person to thank, former GM Ron Francis who was unceremoniously demoted and let relieved of his position by new Carolina owner, Tom Dundon, last year. Most of the players in Carolina and a vast majority of the Charlotte team became part of the organization under his watch. As if the franchise's success weren't enough with both the NHL and AHL teams in their respective conference finals, the Hurricanes ECHL team, the Florida Everblades, are playing the Newfoundland (St. John’s) Growlers in one of the ECHL semi-finals. In the other two series, each has a big Game 6 on Monday. The Chicago Wolves lead the Iowa Wild three games to two winning Game 5 on Friday 7-4 with a Curtis McKenzie scoring a hat trick. The balanced scoring saw three Wolves players register a goal and assist. The contributors were Stefan Matteau, Gabe Quinney and Daniel Carr. Iowa was led by Ryan Donato, the son of ex-Pack/Sound Tiger, Ted Donato, who tallied his first two AHL playoff goals. In Game 4, Iowa won as Gerald Mayhew scored his AHL playoff best 9th goal and was rewarded the next day with a new, two-year, two-way contract. It will pay him $700K-NHL/$100K-AHL in the first year, and $700K-NHL/$150K-AHL the second year. In the Pacific Division final, two of the AHL's higher scoring teams have been just that with the Gulls up three games to two on Bakersfield Condors. The Gulls newest addition paid off big dividends in the first two games. Maxime Comtois fresh off a seven-game QMJHL series with the Drummondville Voltigeurs scored the game-winner, his first AHL playoff goal in Game 1 ending the 5th longest playoff game in AHL history at 4:20 of the 4th overtime. He scored the game-winner in a 4-1 Game 2 victory the following day for San Diego. Bakersfield Joe Gambardella tallied five points (three goals and two assists) in a wild 7-6 OT win in which Bakersfield scored with 11 seconds left in regulation off the stick of the high scoring, Tyler Benson, who had his first playoff goal. It was also the first time the Condors scored a goal with an extra attacker all season! William Lagesson won it just 33 seconds into overtime for Bakersfield. The Condors won Game 5 in double-overtime 2-1 at 13:02 by Josh Currie. Big news from the top of the AHL mountain. Dave Andrews has informed the AHL Board of Governors that he will step down from his position after the 2019-20 season, his 26th season. Andrews has helped shepherd the AHL through some amazing growth and expansion from the 16-team league he inherited from the late Jake Butterfield. The timing of Andrews retirement It makes sense. It would come after the expected NHL work stoppage that will affect the AHL. The American League will see their respective rosters expand as they have during other labor intense times. They will be flooded with many top prospects and shine a very bright light on the AHL, especially if there is no NHL hockey for a potentially significant period of time. Andrews will be working with Seattle to plant the 32nd AHL flag in a North American city. He will have to help them resolve some team locations such as possible issues in Hartford and Bridgeport because of the unresolved XL Center issues and the expiration of the 20-year lease at the Webster Bank Arena which comes in two years with the building now run by OVG. When Seattle does make its choice it will likely initiate Vancouver switching from having their team in Utica move to out West as part of the final realignment of the AHL and North American minor pro hockey. It will also usher in a whole new era at the top and there will now be a significant search to find his replacement. This signals an end to one era for the AHL and the beginning of a new. It might even include a switch in league headquarters. Looking at the map since Andrews took over the AHL landscape, there is a greater concentration now in more Midwest and Western centered entities as money shifts to those parts of the US. The change in the center of the AHL axis is a potential byproduct in this tectonic plate change in the AHL hemisphere. With Ken Holland leaving the Detroit Red Wings for the Edmonton Oilers, it would seem that Ron Francis would be a perfect fit for the expansion franchise in Seattle with its current hockey advisor, also a former Whaler, Dave Tippett. With Holland’s departure, the newly named Detroit GM is Steve Yzerman, who was a playing legend in the Motor City. He brought in another former Whaler and Ranger great, Pat Verbeek with him from Tampa Bay. Verbeek will be the new assistant GM with the Red Wings, opening the door for Francis out West. In turn, the Lightning promoted former Wolf Pack, Jamie Pushor, to assistant GM/Director of Player Development. Pushor takes Verbeek’s spot and former Choate player and NHL’er, Mathieu Darche, was hired to be the Director of Hockey Operations after not being involved in the pro game at any level for eight years. The Flyers announced the new coaching staff for head coach, and former Ranger coach, Alain Vigneault. He will be assisted by Michel Therrien and Mike Yeo. The team returned former New Haven Nighthawk, Scott Gordon to be Head Coach for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms for next season. To nobody’s surprise, well, except for maybe conspiracy theorists, the Wilkes Barre/Scranton Penguins have signed a ten-year renewal of their lease at Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza. Their original twenty-year lease was set to expire at the end of June. Those conspiracy advocates who posted reports the team might move were, at best, ill-informed or at worst, just making stuff up. There is no way the AHL would ever let Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins leave the AHL orbit. It works out too well for its Northeast Pennsylvania corridor with Hershey and Allentown (Lehigh Valley) and the parent Pittsburgh Penguins and their ECHL affiliate the Wheeling Nailers in West Virginia all a perfect equal distance from each other for recalls. Former UCONN Husky, Max Letunov, might hold the unofficial pro record for being traded while not on a team. He just completed his first full pro season with the San Jose Barracuda, but his KHL rights in Russia were traded from Salavat Yulaev to Traktor Chelyabinsk. He signed a two-year deal initially with San Jose and on July 1st becomes a restricted free agent. While with the UConn Huskies, Letunov saw the St. Louis Blues, who first drafted him, send him, then in his sophomore year, to the Arizona Coyotes. The Coyotes then traded him to the San Jose Sharks at the 2016 NHL Draft just before his junior season. Salavat drafted him in the 1st round (26th overall) in the 2013 KHL Draft and have held his rights since. In addition, he was drafted by Swift Current (WHL) in the CHL Import Draft in 2015 but was drafted the year before by Youngstown (USHL) and he opted to play there to maintain his NCAA eligibility and go to UCONN after rescinding his commitment to the University of New Hampshire (Hockey East). Arizona State University, presently an NCAA Division I independent program, will become the first NCAA Division I school to play in China in July/August. Read the following story on this inaugural event HERE. WORLD HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIPS The Worlds are officially underway in Slovakia. A few familiar names dot the lineups and benches of the ten participating teams in the final major international hockey tournament of the 2018-19 season. The US squad has ex-Pack and current Rangers, Chris Kreider, and Brady Skeij as well as the team's newest signee, Adam Fox. Hartford GM, Rangers Assistant GM and Trumbull native, Chris Drury, is the team's GM. Ranger GM Jeff Gorton is on the Team USA Advisory panel. Canada has ex-CT Whale, Jonathan Marchessault, as well as, Sean Couturier, the son of ex-Nighthawk Sylvain Couturier, who is currently the GM of Acadie-Bathurst (QMJHL). Also, there is a late addition in Pierre-Luc Dubois, the son of ex-Nighthawk Eric Dubois, and current Rangers assistant coach, Lindy Ruff. Russia has current Ranger/Wolf Pack goalie Alexander Georgiev and ex-Wolf Pack/Ranger Artem Anisimov. Sweden has current Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist and William Nylander, the son of ex-Whaler/Ranger, Michael Nylander. Finland has Kaapo Kakko, who is expected to be the Rangers first pick, second overall behind the Devils, who will likely take, Jack Hughes (on the US squad) next month at the NHL Draft in Vancouver. The team also has AHL’er s from this season, Juho Lammikko (Springfield) and Niko Mikkola (San Antonio). The Czech Republic has ex-Pack and current Ranger, Filip Chytil, David Musil, nephew of ex-Whaler and Ranger Robert (Bobby) Holik, and the GM is former Ranger Petr Nedved. Ex-Pack defenseman, Petr Zamorsky, was among the last cuts for the Czech squad. Switzerland has ex-Pack, Andres Ambuhl, and Vincent Prapalan from this season’s Springfield Thunderbird (AHL) team. In a big surprise, ex-Pack, and Ranger, Raphael Diaz, was not on the final roster. One of Slovakia’s assistant coaches is ex-Whaler, Robert Petrovicky. Denmark has ex-Pack, Nicklas Jensen up front. Great Britain features goalie Jackson Whistle, the nephew of ex-Nighthawk, Rob Whistle. One of the best stories at the World Hockey Championships is France’s head coach and ex-NHL’er with St. Louis, Philippe Bozon, will be coaching his son, Tim Bozon, who played in Montreal and in the AHL for several before returning to play hockey in Switzerland. Tim Bozon’s only AHL penalty shot goal was scored in Hartford against his former junior teammate Mackenzie Skapski when he played for the St. John’s Ice Caps. MEMORIAL CUP The Memorial Cup Is set to begin on Friday in Halifax, Nova Scotia and the four teams are almost set to battle for the Canadian major junior hockey supremacy. The host team gets an automatic bye. In this case, that would be the Halifax Mooseheads, who lost to the QMHL President Cup Final to the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies in seven games. They have former New Haven Senator, Claude Savoie, on their scouting staff. The two teams will be the QMJHL representatives. The OHL representative will be the Guelph Storm who won the Robertson Cup in the OHL Final over the Ottawa 67’s in six games. Despite being down 2-0 in the series, they reeled off four straight wins and in Game 6 were down 2-0 after one period and ended up winning 8-3. Guelph features two assistant coaches with CT connections. Ex-Pack, Chad Wiseman, and ex-New Haven Senator, Jake Grimes. The WHL saw the Prince Albert Raiders and the Vancouver Giants go to a Game 7 on Monday night to win and become the WHL rep. The Raiders feature two former Springfield players as coaches in Marc Habscheid (Springfield Indians) and Jeff Truitt (head coach with the Springfield Falcons) and have former Whaler, Dalla Guame, as one of their senior scouts. Vancouver has another former Falcon in Assistant coach, Jamie Heward and Bowen Byram, the son of former Springfield Indians, Shawn Byram. The tourney can be seen on the NHL Network picking up the feed from TSN in Canada Game 1 on Friday is at 7 pm EST as Atlantic Canada is an hour ahead of the Eastern US and Quebec province will feature host Halifax playing with Prince Albert or Vancouver to kick off the tournament. PRO PLAYER MOVES No big surprise as we first reported now former Wolf Pack defenseman Julius Bergman’s move to Frolunda HC, the reigning Swedish Hockey League champions was announced officially on Wednesday as a two year deal with the Indians after five seasons in North America. Bergman played just eight games with the Wolf Pack he was traded first by Ottawa to Columbus in the Matt Duchesne deal on February 22nd, then three days later after being assigned to Cleveland, but never played there, He was sent to the Rangers in the Adam McQuaid deal and then assigned to Hartford. Joining him on the AHL Euro list as a member of HV 71 is Emil Johansson of Providence and so is John Ramage, the son of ex-NHL/WHA defenseman, Rob Ramage, goes from Binghamton to Eisbaren Berlin (Germany-DEL). That makes just 12 AHL players, a relatively low number at this point, that have left for Europe. Mathieu Sevigny, the son of former Wolf Pack Pierre Sevigny, after an injury-riddled last season of major junior with the Victoriaville Tigres (QMJHL), has signed with HC Cholet (France Division-2) for next year. Chris Rumble, the son of ex-New Haven, Darren Rumble, switches German DEL team going from Fischtown to Iserlohn. Alexander Tarnstrom, the nephew of ex-Sound Tiger, Dick Tarnstrom, goes from Trangsund IF (Sweden Division-1) to Segeltorps IF (Sweden Division-1). Another ex-Sound Tiger changes their address. Johan Sundstrom goes back home to Frolunda HC (Sweden-SHL) leaving Kunlun (China-KHL). Five more college players have signed for play in Europe in the fall. Mathias Israelsson from Minnesota State-Mankato (WCHA) heads back home to start his pro career with Hanhala IF (Sweden Division-1). Then a pair of UMASS-Amherst (HE) players, Connor Wilson and Avni Berisha both sign with Mulhouse (France-FREL) for next season plus Madison Dunn Alabama–Huntsville (WCHA) and Mark Logan R.I.T. (AHA) both sign with Nantes (France Division-1). That makes 13 college players that have signed in Europe, a total of 199 college players to have signed pro deals in North America and Europe. FHL HOCKEY RETURNS TO DANBURY The FHL (Federal Hockey League) makes a third try in Danbury with the return of the Danbury Hat Tricks its the fourth time Single-A hockey will call the Danbury Ice Arena home. The previous incarnations were the Danbury Titans, Danbury Whalers and the ill-fated gang of goons called the Danbury Trashers (UHL) run by convicted mobster James Galante. In between, the Trashers and Titans, they had two semi-pro teams in the Danbury Mad Hatters (EPHL) and the New England Stars (NEHL). The team also announced its first GM/Head coach in Bill McCreary, III. McCreary comes to Danbury to take on his first professional Head Coach/General Manager role. A native of Southampton, Ontario, McCreary is a nine-year (2006-2015) Minor League Hockey veteran as both a player and coach. McCreary’s playing resume includes time spent with the Trenton Titans (ECHL), Huntsville Havoc (SPHL), New Mexico Scorpions (CHL), and the New Jersey Outlaws (FHL). He was part of championship teams in both Hunstville (2010) and New Jersey (2012) where he served the dual role as player-coach. Collegiately, McCreary played for both Providence College (Hockey East) & Curry College (ECAC-NE). Most recently, Bill has served as the Hockey Director for the New Jersey Colonials youth program out of Mennen Arena. In addition, Bill’s other coaching stops include the Watertown Wolves (FHL), East Coast Selects-Q, Portland Junior Pirates (USPHL), North Jersey Avalanche, Seacoast Spartans and the ISS Kings. He was a scout with Victoriaville (QMJHL) in 2017-18. On the youth level, Bill won National, State and International Championships. He played for Shattuck-St. Mary’s Prep in Minnesota where he was linemates with current Minnesota Wild forward Zach Parise. He played junior hockey for the Texas Tornado (NAHL) and amassed 45 goals and 71 assists in 98 games. For that season, he was named to the All-Rookie team and First Team All-Star. McCreary has a long family history of hockey players, coaches, and General Managers. His Grandfather Bill McCreary Sr., Great Uncle Keith McCreary, Father Bill McCreary Jr. plus cousins Ron and Bob Attwell played in the National Hockey League (NHL). He is also related to Bill McCreary, a Hall of Fame inductee as an on-ice official in the NHL and his son Mike McCreary who referees minor league hockey. As an added note, Bill has also been named Hockey & Coaching Director of the Western Colonials Youth Hockey program. (Parts of a team press release were used in this section) Read the full article

Academia AU
I'm not sure if you meant students or faculty, but I already did the other one and my brain went to "bickering faculty" on this one, SO they're all teachers at a small state college.
Peggy teaches history. She's tough but fair and really knows her stuff. But she clashes with the administration constantly and is very lackluster about grants/research; she'd rather spend time teaching. She really loves dealing with the students and doing the hands-on stuff. She either volunteers or gets volunteered for various advocacy positions mediating between the faculty and administration, even though "diplomatic" is not exactly her middle name, but she will kick ass on behalf of the faculty and students at the drop of a hat. (To be clear, the administration really, really does not want to deal with her, only slightly less than she wants to deal with them, but if you need some administrative ass kicked, everyone knows that Peggy is the one you call.) Her office hours are erratic, but she's always happy to spend two hours helping a student with their academic paperwork or attempting to tutor them in a field she doesn't even teach, or just lending a sympathetic shoulder to their romantic woes and making them a cup of tea.
English professor Daniel is the exact opposite. He's actually got a degree in Linguistics with a specialty in Middle English, but they're too small to have an actual linguistics department, so HEY CLOSE ENOUGH; he teaches introductory English/Lit classes and Ling 101 in the years when they get enough students for the class not to be cancelled. All he really wants to do is spend time in his office chasing down obscure conjugations of Norman French verbs, and he acts kind of flustered and confused when students show up at his office (which is behind the copy machine and has a window that looks out at the air conditioning unit, and is so stuffed with books that it's hard to find a place to sit down). Usually his office door is shut, even during office hours, with a sticky note that says "please knock." However, if you DO knock, he'll be friendly (though flustered and tongue-tied at first) and will go ahead and give students all the time and attention they need. He really likes helping them one-on-one and is a SUPER easy grader -- mostly because he doesn't really care and just wants to see them succeed. Half his students have a crush on him. He went into academia after getting back from Afghanistan, and walks with a cane.
Jason is the really nice chemistry teacher who is basically the entire chemistry department. 2/3 of his students have crushes on him.
Angie teaches theater and music, and organizes TONS of things, and has enough energy for three people, and literally NEVER can be found in her office (no one is even really sure where her office is or if she has one; the address on the syllabus is the costume sewing room for the theater department) but she's usually very easy to find and ALWAYS on campus.
Howard is the COMPLETELY FUCKING CRAZY physics teacher who never follows the syllabus (on those years when he actually has a syllabus and doesn't just download something off the internet the night before the first class and/or photocopy Peggy's even though she's in a totally different department). He builds insane contraptions in class that are likely to catch on fire, sometimes forgets to give a test or shows up to class drunk, and has been known to hand out pieces of an unknown device to his class and tell them to build it while he sits and scribbles away busily on notes for a research paper. His publication output is UNREAL. He rewards out-of-the-box thinking and his grading is all over the place. His students basically either hate him or love him, but the ones that love him are usually the smart iconoclasts who go on to study at MIT or CalTech, and he pulls in enough money to basically singlehandedly keep the College of Math and Sciences solvent, so nobody complains about him too much.
Jack teaches accounting math and plainly does not want to be here, dealing with undergrads, when he's got a degree from somewhere like Cornell or Yale and should probably be working for a Fortune 500 company. Nobody is entirely sure precisely *what* happened to cause him to end up here, but it clearly wasn't good. Right now he views his job as a stepping stone to the top (for whatever modest version of "the top" is available here). His rate-my-professor scores are sky-high for hotness and pretty low for everything else. He actually is pretty good at it and probably would be A+ at actually being faculty if he didn't spend so much of his time schmoozing with everyone on the administration level. On the bright side, when someone on the state legislature needs to be courted to try to get funding for something or other for the university, Jack's a pretty good person to send. (After the year when Peggy pushed Senator Billings into the duck pond in front of the state capitol building, no one sends Peggy.)
Dooley has been on sabbatical for two years and no one is entirely sure if he still works here. He was drinking pretty heavily before he left. Technically, though, he has tenure, so it’s an open question.
