one thing about me to note is that the headcanon that the riley brothers look exactly alike (except with the smallest of differences) is So. so good. (not twins but close enough, right..?)

then when simon is dead and becomes Ghost. his brother is a testament to what he would've looked like. if he had not. you know. undergone torture..

something happening on a mission, something personal that has soap spiralling; panic and rage making him reckless, thoughtless, and ghost has to draw the line

“you’re compromised johnny; you know what that means?”

“you’re not pulling me out,” soap immediately snarls. he turns on him and ghost barely recognises him; venomous fear turning his eyes to unyielding ice. "you're not sidelining me; i need to be in this-!"

but ghost has never been afraid of venom; spat or dripped straight from bared fangs.

he snakes out a hand grip the back of his neck, jerking him in a rough shake. "if you can't think, you can't be a soldier," he growls and he flinches like he's been struck.

his lips quiver as they twist in a sneer and he wrenches, trying to free himself of his hold.

ghost doesn't let him.

"it means you give your body to me because your head ain't fucking attached to it anymore."

soap stills, body trembling beneath his hand as he sucks in shaking breaths.

he tightens his grip, pulling him closer and digs his forehead hard into his. “it means you give yourself to me so i can have the weapon that you are and use you the way you're meant to be used."

the ice in soap's eyes fractures.

ghost’s voice drops to a whisper, spoken only to johnny, not this facade of vengeance and pain, and wills it to reach him through the glaciers.

“so i can keep you safe ‘til it’s done and i can bring you back.”

alive riley family dynamic knowing their way around all sorts of prescriptions, obviously they have experience with some illegal substances, but mostly just them all having varying medical histories and end learning what’s what

riley family sharing prescriptions when one person runs out or is waiting on a renewal is a bit of a small comfort. they all know what they can and can’t take by this point so while not recommended it’s not like they just taking whatever

Im going to be crazy about Tommy Riley for a moment. Something in me ACHES after that fucker. If he ever gets a game adaptation?

He and Simon should be absolute CUNTS to eachother. Since Soap knew Simon, he hasn’t seen a single piece of technology in the man’s hands. But he started keeping a phone recently.

And he can’t resist peaking; Sue him. Simon’s a man in pieces, — you can’t wait for an opportunity to know him. You have to take it when it’s there.

“…Abortion #2? Who’s that, LT?”

Simon sees an opportunity to be funny as hell and he takes it. “My baby sister. She’s coming to see me today and thinks I don’t know, the daft slag.”

Tommy gets revenge by showing everyone 7th grade Simon with flaming red cheeks and emo eyeliner. (He refuses to comment on why he has a scrapbook kept in perfect condition.)

tommy being the new villain after soap's death. laswell looking grim as she tells ghost her group recovered some 'intel' regarding him that had to be private. she hands him a ziploc containing a single photograph with words scribbled in a red sharpie.

it's a dark photograph with two people brightly lit up. what catches his eye first is soap--but then the other person, he comes to recognize, who is holding soap blindfolded and tied to a chair, beaten up and bloody--looking at him, as he sits with a joyful expression beside the tortured mactavish--is the face of his long-dead brother, tommy.

The words 'MISS ME, SIMON?' are written in big, flamboyant looping lines, along with doodles on soap's face with a sad face and drawn tears.

i was holding out hope that wanda would come back and possibly in this series, but it seems like it won’t be happening. they seem to be pretty certain that wanda is dead. so now that the rest of the names are filled in on the credits, i’m very disappointed. i thought for sure that either wanda or tommy would be one of the other credits. (i already asssumed one of them would be miles gutierrez) but i’m glad evan peters is back even thought i’m unbelievably upset about it getting spoiled for me. i hope he sticks around.

a thing that sucks about cbm is that you can’t always use every character like you can in a comic book. by the way it’s going, it seems like billy is waking the road to find tommy at the end instead of his whole family, which narratively would have been better.

also it’s so sad that wanda’s son was just a town away from her and she didn’t even know it. (instead, she kidnapped a teenage girl and tried to break apart the multiverse…)

i love how it's just now Fanon (canon) that simon is mrs riley's favourite while tommy is mr riley's.. like i don't think it's particularly favoritism on anyone's side, but maybe it's just that tommy was more amiable to becoming like his father in the comics and simon leaned to his mother more,. personally my own interpretation (delusion) is that maybe tommy just liked animals more than simon (simon being the 'scaredy-cat' in the comics.)

hello okay so we just wanted to say we love your cod fics of tommy and simon's relationship lord it just scratches an itch in our brain andit's so Scrumptious. the pining, the sibling angst, the familiar trauma. you write them so well gdyuhkjfkdfjas So Good ..the soul craves the angst but the flesh is weak.. what hobbies do you think tommy would have?

Aw thank you! That's very sweet to say, and I'm touched my writing of the brothers touches yous :D

With the current Tommy in my head (father, labourer, ex-tattoo artist apprentice), I'd say art would be his main hobby. It used to be someting he pursued as a career, and probably something he still can, but with him settled in his current work, art takes the backstage as a decompression and fulfilment thing. I can see him very handy with graphite and simple ballpoint pen on paper, experimenting with the odd brush pen and watercolour. Doesn't have the patience nor desire to paint. He keeps his work pretty small-scale, rarely going above A4 pages in size and preferring to keep sketchbooks that are easily kept in a pocket. Although he once made a large back-spanning tattoo design once during his apprenticeship.

I like the idea of Tommy defaulting to drawing a lot of traditional tattoo subjects out of habit, animals and ships and tools and such. But I imagine there are more than a few pages filled with drawings of his wife, Beth, and then of his son, Joseph later on as well. His style is typically american traditional-esque, but he has a good handle on realism and stylisation of features. When he draws Simon it's usually a little scowling, cartoon version of his big brother, and intended to poke fun at Simon.

While Tommy in my fics does do the brunt of the cooking in the household, I would go and say that too is a hobby of his. It was a source of reprieve and distraction during his recovery, and while the habit stuck and became his responsibility in the house, I can still see him experimenting with meals and cooking techniques when he can + playing around with presentation.

I've also grown very very fond of the idea of (in a kinder life) Tommy running cooking classes for addicts, addicts in recovery, and then eventually for veterans who are freshly discharged and lacking in lifeskills after their service. He strongly disagrees with agree with the army and what it stands for (and is deeply suspicious of its intentions)(leads to a lot of complications with his and Simon's relationships, usually becoming something that's actively avoided as a topic), in my interpretation of him, but he also recognises servicemen are left to the side of the road when they can no longer serve the institution. May as well extend his practice of harm reduction to them (and who knows, maybe someday he'll be able to teach his brother how to cook more than fried eggs)

Headcanons about Tommy and Simon Riley that give me 3rd degree burns:

. While they’re terribly aware neither of them were loved children, they’re also aware their father, in his own fucked up way, had a favorite. And they both knew it wasn’t Tommy.

Because he speaks out, he rebels, he defies. He’ll hurt the hand that hurts him. Their father made a fighter out of him, and he’ll pay the price for it.

That’s what makes Tommy the protector. I know a lot of people categorize Simon as the scapegoat, the wall between their father, and I do think it’s case. It’s a silent agreement between Tommy, Simon, and Sarah.

Simon takes the hits for Sarah, and Tommy takes the hits for Simon. And Tommy keeps it to himself.

Tommy and Simon say ‘I love you’ a lot; Just not in a traditional sense, not through verbal tools.

Simon says ‘I love you’ every time he keeps watch while Tommy makes out with that asshole rugby captain behind the school.

He says ‘I love you’ every time he lands Tommy a shirt of his after their father burns his clothes as a punishment.

“Why do you smell like beans and misery?” “Shut up, mate.”

Tommy says ‘I love you’ every time he gives Simon the good slice of bread while he eats the moldy one. Their dad always had a creative side, he guesses.

Tommy says ‘I love you’ every time he drives for hours to pick Simon up from whatever spot their dad dropped them off at. Either AM or PM.

Tommy grew a beard because their gay next door neighbor had one. It was his own way of coming out (and piss off their dad, because kids don’t stay kids for ever, and he can throw a good punch now)

Simon became deathly afraid of animals, but Tommy loved them, so he’d sneak them into their room. “Come pet your nephews, they’re cute!” “They’re bloody possums, Tom!” “They look like you.”

I like to imagine Simon feels so shitty about ‘failing’ Tommy as a brother, but Tommy is quick to shut that shit down.

“Simon, if I had the choice, I’d be your brother in every life.”

When Simon enrolls in the military, Tommy’s quick to follow him, much to the annoyance of the older Riley. Like in high school, he’s charming, and chatty, and magnetized people so easily.

They look alike; At least that’s what Simon gets told. He doesn’t see it. Tommy’s eyes are spring green and his laugh is like a storm of sunshine.

Tommy agrees. He may or may not make his own balaclava and pretend he’s Simon to fuck with people. But imagine Tommy pretending he’s Simon when they get separated during a mission.

“You Riley?”

“…Yeah, that’s me.”

Tommy vanishes for 8 years. Simon doesn’t know what to do with himself after.
