Hey! Could you do Tom Holland x reader one with #3 from the Autumn prompts list plz đ The setting could be that the reader came over to Tom's house when it's pouring rain outside.
Warmth : Tom Holland x Reader
Description: 41.k wc fluff fic for the prompt "letâs get you out of these wet clothes". Y/nâs boyfriend cheats on her and her best friend Tom is there to help her through it.
Warnings: mentions of readerâs boyfriend cheating, angst, breakups, confessions, kissing, pining, a few curse words I think.
As y/n walked through the damp streets of Kingston upon Thames, the rain blended with the tears flowing from her puffy eyes.
The streets were sparsely populated, cold, wet, and all around grim at this time of night.
Yet, she continued her lonely journey through them.
She was desperate for solace.
She longed for the consolation only her best friend Tom could provide.
Y/n had been walking for over an hour already tonight.
Her clothing was beyond drenched thanks to the insistent downpour the universe cruelly deemed necessary.
To say the universe was against her might seem dramatic.
However, after the events of today, y/n would beg to differ.
Her day had started out rough but salvageable.
It didnât stay salvageable though.
First, she overslept.
Then came the burnt bagel and expired cream cheese of breakfast.
On her way out the door, sheâd forgotten her phone.
Sheâd locked her keys in her car accidentally when they had fallen unbeknownst to her during a desperate attempt to rush back inside for her phone.
She wanted to merely crawl back into bed and call in sick.
But she let her optimism get the best of her and decided to stick it out.
Unfortunately, her day didnât improve.
In fact, things only managed to get worse.
Although sheâd made it to work after only a short delay, she got a speeding ticket on her way.
She then had to skip her lunch break to make up for her late arrival.
The one thing sheâd held on to was knowing her boyfriend was going to be cooking dinner for them tonight.
She looked forward to the change, usually being the only one cooking or doing any housework.
Heâd moved in a few months earlier but quickly took advantage of her already established routines sheâd see for herself.
She hadnât noticed at first that heâd let her do all the work, since sheâd been so used to it already.
However, a few weeks ago after her best friend Tom asked her about it, she realized her oversight.
As such, she calmly requested that her boyfriend begin contributing.
Tonight was scheduled to be the first night he came through on that arrangement; having had multiple excuses arise before.
Yet, her night chose to match the rest of her day.
Upon arriving home she discovered there was food made.
Seeing this, she felt small glimmer of glee
That glee quickly turned sour when she noticed the two sets of dishes had both been eaten off of.
As her eyes turned to the bottle of wine and the two wine glasses on her dining room table, she felt the rest of her optimism extinguish.
One of the wine glasses had lipstick on it; and not y/nâs typical shade.
Left with no other choice but to face the inevitable, she dropped her bags and entered her house further in search of her boyfriend and the mystery woman.
Lo and behold, she found them red handed; in an extremely compromising position in y/nâs bedroom.
The argument that followed suit wasnât much fun either.
But, she felt a twinge of pride upon promptly terminating the relationship and kicking him out of her house then and there.
That pride diminished as shame and dejection soon took over.
She didnât want to be alone.
Nor did she want to be in this house right not.
While it was her house, it was tainted with the all too fresh sense of betrayal.
She knew there was only one person who she felt safe enough confessing her ex-boyfriendâs indiscretions to.
Her best friend Tom.
So, sheâd quickly located her keys and made her way to her car.
However, evidently the universe wasnât done with her yet.
As, it now just so happened that her car wouldnât start.
When her keys were locked inside earlier, the lights were running.
But she didnât worry about the battery as it started up enough to get to and from work.
Yet, thatâs seemingly all it has left in it.
And without her ex boyfriendâs car here, she couldnât jump start it.
So she decided to call Tom and see if he could pick her up.
Only, her phone was dead.
She wanted to scream and give up.
But she couldnât get herself to go back inside.
Nor could she ignore the strong desire to see Tom.
So, she decided to walk to his house instead.
Even if it was an hour and forty five minute quest.
Hence why she was out on these desolate roads this late at night in pouring rain.
Most people wouldâve turned around or not have begun the journey at all.
But Y/n needed to.
She needed Tom.
So, despite her Converse having been soaked through within minutes, she stubbornly didnât let up.
While she was understandably shivering and would likely be sick, she knew it was worth it.
Only a few more minutes and sheâd be at the door of her best friendâs house.
Only a few more blocks and sheâd be able to be in Tomâs embrace.
ââ
Y/n bit her lip and began to wring out her sweater as she waited for Tom to come to the door after she knocked.
âY/n?! Love, whatâs going on?!â He gasped instantly, his eyes sorrowful and concerned.
Y/nâs lip trembled as she attempted to answer, but Tom just shook his head and tenderly pulled her inside.
âShhh, Iâve got youâ He promised, shutting the door behind them.
âAre you hurt?â Tom asked as he held her shoulders and looked her over.
She shrugged, ânot physicallyâ.
Tomâs body released some tension momentarily before it snapped back to its alert state.
âEmotionally?â He pressed quietly.
She gave him a weak half smile and looked down at her soppy shoes.
Tom sighed to himself before rubbing her arms, âweâll fix that. But first, letâs get you out of these wet clothesâ.
Y/n looked up and into his sympathetic eyes, âYeah, sorry⊠I should-â.
He placed his left pointer finger over her lips, âshh, none of that. Iâm glad youâre hereâ.
She sniffled and that was when Tom truly noticed the red puffiness of her eyes,m; clearly caused by tears and not the rain he hoped accounted for all the wetness on her cheeks.
âIâve got that jumper you love, the purple one?â Tom said hoping to cheer her up, âletâs get you into that instead?â
She nodded and grabbed his hand as he led her down the hallway.
While he slipped away to get her some new clothes, she stood before the mirror in his bathroom.
When he came back in, he saw the look in her eyes and knew sheâd been scrutinizing herself and appearance.
âWhat did he do?â Tom asked, standing next to her.
âWhat?â She questioned, not looking at him.
âIâve never seen you look at yourself that way before Y/n. Iâm assuming y/ex/n did or said something idioticâ
She sighed, âYeah. But Iâm just trying to understand why, and maybe -â
Tom cut her off as she stared at her reflection harshly, âmmm mmmm no, weâre not doing that. Whatever he did or said, itâs got nothing to do with you or your looks loveâ
She turned to him and gave him a soft smile, âThank you Tommyâ.
He nodded, setting the dry clothing down for her.
âI wasnât sure what kind of trousers you wanted so I bright a few options. Iâll be on the sofa when youâre doneâ he told her, squeezing her hands.
âOh,â he stopped in the doorway of bathroom, âicecream?â
She giggled faintly, bringing a smile to Tomâs face, âyes pleaseâ
âYouâve got it loveâ He nodded.
Y/n combed through her damp hair, drying it with the towel Tom left on the counter for her.
She quickly changed into the clothing heâd left her, opting for her favorite hoodie of his and a pair of his drawstring gray sweats.
Fortunately, the thickness of the sweater and jeans she had on earlier were enough to keep her undergarments from being soaked.
They were cold to the touch and perhaps faintly wet but barely noticeable.
She dabbed at the smeared makeup on her face before groaning when it didnât budge and only smeared more.
Recalling the last time sheâd spent the night at Tomâs, she knew she had some makeup wipes in one of his bathroom drawers.
She let out her first sigh of relief as she looked at herself in the mirror
She still looked down but not as pathetic as she did when she first entered the bathroom.
âThank you Tom, this is so much betterâ she mumbled, stepping into the hallway.
Tom looked up from the living room at the end of the hallway and smiled at her, standing up as he began to walk to her.
âAre you warm?â He asked, his eyes scanning her again as he neared.
She nodded with a soft appreciative smile and slightly forced laugh, âmuch warmer, and less of a hideous messâ.
Tomâs eyebrowâs furrowed as he reached her, a pout on his lips, his arms now crossed over his chest.
âDid y/ex/n say that?â He asked, voice dripping with protective venom.
She shook her head, âno, I just saw my reflectionâ.
She laughed softly as he sent her a slightly irritated glare, âbut also, can we not say his name?â
Tomâs gaze softened as he nodded and closed the distance, pulling her in for a warm hug.
She immediately melted into his embrace, her arms wrapped tightly around him to keep him close.
Tom held her back and cradled her head as he rubbed her neck.
She sniffled into his chest, making him wince and frown more.
âIâve got you love, come onâ he whispered, guiding her to the living room slowly.
Tom felt his heart clench as she walked awkwardly with him, refusing to let go of him for even a few seconds.
As he made it to the sofa, he aided her in sitting down beside him.
He still had his arms around her as she sat down and curled into his side.
ââ
After holding her in silence for several minutes, he gave her cheek a tender squeeze as the doorbell rang, âthatâs the ice cream, Iâll be right backâ.
âPlease donât let me goâ she whispered, Tomâs breath catching as he saw the embarrassed look she gave him over her request.
Tom leaned back into the sofa, moving to cup her face in his hands, âneverâ.
She sniffled and her gaze silently scanned his face before settling on his eyes, âpromise?â
Tomâs left thumb trailed her cheekbone, âI promise y/n. Love, youâre stuck with me, alwaysâ.
She curled her lips up softly at him, âthank you. I-I just really need youâ.
He nodded, smiling tenderly at her, âyou have me y/n/n, youâve always had me. Just tell me what to doâ.
Wiping her eyes she sniffled, âthis is enough. This is everything, Tommy. Thereâs no where else Iâd rather be or anyone is rather be with right now, thank you for letting me inâ
Tom hummed, pulling her back to his chest, âIâll always let you in y/n, you never need to question that loveâ.
âI wouldnât have blamed you. I showed up unannounced, at an ungodly hour, looking like a drowned sewer ratâ she giggled, tracing shapes on his chest beside where she was resting her face.
Tom rolled his eyes, rubbing her back, âyou looked just fine love. Youâre always beautiful y/nâ.
She snuggled closer into him, âsee, this is why I needed you, you always make me feel betterâ.
He smiled to himself proudly, âitâs my job, and I accepted that job with honor and deep responsibilityâ.
She giggled, still absentmindedly drawing imaginary shapes on his torso, âwell, thank youâ.
Tom hummed, âlove, I have to askâŠâ
She nodded against him, signaling he could ask whatever was on his mind.
âYouâve made several negative comments about your appearance tonight, thatâs not like youâ he frowned, âwhy is that?â.
Y/n sighed, âIâm just questioning a lot about myself tonightâ.
Tom paused, looking down and analyzing the way she was clinging to him.
âLove, I know you donât want me to say his name⊠but is⊠your boyfriend⊠is he the reason?â He asked hesitantly.
She leaned back, looking shyly into his eyes, âheâs not my boyfriend anymoreâ.
Tomâs eyes widened, âthe arsehole wasnât truly daft enough to end it! Was he?â
Y/n shook her head, making Tomâs eyebrows raise in confusion but he kept his gaze soft.
âSo⊠then, you ended things with the tosser?â Tom asked.
Y/n bit back the desire to giggle at the way Tomâs British vernacular and accent always shown through more when he was emotionally impacted.
Instead, she merely kept eye contact and nodded, waiting to see his reaction.
Tom visibly relaxed, but stroked her cheek as he asked his follow-up inquiry, âcanât say Iâm disappointed. You know Iâve always said he didnât deserve you, Iâm glad you see that now. But, what happened?â
She bit her lip and broke eye contact, now nervous to admit what transpired.
She hadnât had time to process or determine why it had happened.
So now she was worried how it would make her look if she couldnât keep a boyfriend happy.
It didnât help that y/n had long ago developed an unrequited crush on Tom.
She elected to push those unspoken feelings aside in the interest of their friendship and tried to move on.
But she didnât care for the idea that he might understand why y/ex/n seemingly grew bored with her.
Tom watched y/n tenderly as he waited for her to answer.
He could see the hesitation in her eyes as she seemingly debated whether or not to answer.
ââey love, why I donât I get the ice cream and then we can watch y/f/m?â He offered, changing the topic for her comfort.
She nodded, hesitantly sliding out of his arms.
âIâll be right back âere in a secâ loveâ he promised, bending to kiss the top of her head as he stood up.
Y/n bit her lip at the familiar feeling sheâd missed.
He would always kiss the top of her head when she wasnât feeling well.
That is, unless she had a boyfriend; as he didnât want to overstep or risk her partner suggesting y/n and Tom needed space.
However, she missed the behavior every time she needed comforting.
Feeling it again now only reminded her of that.
It also reminded her that her choosing to give y/ex/n a chance had been the reason sheâd gone without the loving action.
Y/n frowned to herself as she regretted her decision to try and move on even more upon realizing that.
She knew it was likely platonic, but it still meant the world to her and made her feel bubbly inside.
Even if it was platonic, she wasnât sure she ever wanted to give it up again.
Yet, she didnât know what to do about that since she couldnât just never date anyone only to be able to have him kiss her head when she wasnât well.
ââ
âWoah, sweetheart, whatâs with the increased sadness?â Tom frowned, suddenly before her again.
She blinked as she came back to the moment, realizing she was nearly in tears again.
Y/n rubbed her arms in embarrassment and shook her head.
Tom sighed but nodded softly, âokay, come âere thoughâ
Y/n complied and cuddled back into his arms as he held the ice cream tub behind her.
She shivered slightly from the cold of the dessert and Tom promptly draped the blanket from the back of the couch between her body and the ice cream.
âOpenâ Tom hummed softly, bringing a spooonful of ice cream to her lips.
She looked at the spoon and smiled widely, making Tomâs heart soar, âis that y/f/f?!â
Tom huffed, ââcourse love, what else?â
She giggled and cupped his cheek before pulling his face to her shoulder, âthank you Tommyâ.
As she released him, he lifted the spoon to her lips, smiling as she accepted the offering with excitement.
ââ
Tom stared as y/n rested on his chest while they watched y/f/m.
He sensed something, likely whatever happened with y/ex/n, was still bothering her.
But he could tell she was feeling much better than she was earlier tonight.
As he shifted his arms around her, she glanced up and smiled softly at him.
He smiled back before she turned around to watch the movie.
ââ
âDarling, are you sure you donât want to talk about it?â Tom questioned, pouting as she glared at her phone.
Y/ex/n had called several times, resulting in her blocking his number and feeling dejected again.
âI⊠IâŠ. He⊠he-â she sighed, peaking up at him with sad eyes.
Tom pulled her to his chest, pressing his lips against her hair as she snuggled into him.
It took her a few moments of silence before she confessed what happened with y/e/n.
âY/ex/n.. he cheated on meâ she admitted, her voice so soft Tom barely heard it.
Yet, he felt his body go rigid with anger at her words.
Tom took a few shallow breaths as he tried to keep his anger at bay so he could focus on comforting her as he knew she needed him.
âTom?â She questioned faintly, slowly leaning back to look at him.
He saw the look of not only sadness, but⊠worry in her eyes.
Why was she worried?
âDarling, I-â he sighed loudly, âI donât know what to say. Iâm so sorry y/n-â.
She shook her head, âitâs okayâ.
âNo, itâs notâ Tom grumbled, âyou deserved better. You deserve someone who returns your love, not some wanker who acts like thatâ.
Y/n hummed softly, âI didnât love himâ.
âWhat?â Tom asked in shock.
She took a deep breath and looked into his eyes as she repeated herself, âI didnât love y/ex/nâ.
âYou didnât?â He questioned.
âNo. I donât know how he felt, he never said he loved meâ she shrugged, âbut I didnât love himâ.
Tom nodded slowly, still a bit shocked.
âI tried to. I just didnât feel for him in that wayâ she admitted.
âItâs not something you can force or control y/n, thatâs not your faultâ Tom assured her.
She nodded, âbut I.. I thought I might be able to at some point. And I though I was enough for him⊠but-â
Tom shook his head, hoping her face âyou are enough. You are more than enoughâ.
She bit her lip and blinked shyly, âif I was, he wouldnât have cheated Tomâ.
Tom closed his eyes tightly and sighed, âhe didnât cheat because you werenât enough. He cheated because he was an arsemonger who evidently couldnât appreciate your valueâ.
Y/n hummed quietly, Tomâs eyes opening as he watched her, âmy value?â
Tom nodded, his breath hitching before he elaborated, âDarling, any bloke should be honored to be chosen by you. You are by far worthy of more than you seem to realize. I know one day youâll find someone who sees that and wouldnât ever hurt youâ.
Y/n smiled and blinked away some tears as she gazed up at him.
âNo, Iâm sorryâ Tom gasped, wiping her tears.
She shook her head, âtheyâre happy tears Tommyâ.
He sighed in relief and pulled her back to him, his lips lingering on her head as she focused back on the tv.
ââ
Tom was frozen as he watched y/n suddenly pull away from him and face him with her eyes full of love.
Before he could ask what was on her mind, her lips were on his, her hand on his cheek.
Tom tensed momentarily in shock but quickly relaxed into the kiss, having wanted a moment like this with her for years.
But, as he felt her still damp hair, he recalled the situation they were in.
Her boyfriend ex boyfriend, just cheated on her.
She was far too emotionally vulnerable and confused to be cognizant and intentional on her actions.
He reluctantly pulled away, hand on her shoulder to distance himself.
She opened her eyes and he saw fear, regret, and despair swimming in her irises
As he opened his mouth to explain why he pulled away she covered her face with her hands.
âOh my godâ she gasped, âIâm so sorry Tom. I⊠I⊠I shouldnât have kiss you like thatâ
Tom tried to embrace her as she tucked her face to her chest, hands still hiding her face from him.
âI canât believe I did that,â she sighed, hand tugging on her hair, âfuck Iâm an idiot. Iâm s-sorryâ
Tom ignored the pain in his chest over her feeling stupid and regretting the kiss so deeply.
âY/nâ Tom began softly, reaching for one of her hands.
She shook her head, âI-I didnât-â
He sighed tenderly, âI know you didnât mean anything by it. Youâre dealing with a lot right now. Donât worry about it y/n/n, we can pretend it didnât happenâ.
She rubbed her hands aggressively down her face before finally lowering them and looking at him for the first time since the kiss.
âIâŠthatâs not⊠am I not⊠was it bad?â she whispered.
Tom shook his head, âno, love. Iâve always known the man who wins your heart would be so bloody lucky, that only added more reasons â.
She felt her cheeks warm but sniffled as she stared at him, âthenâŠ. Why..? Why did-â
Tom sighed, grabbing her hand in his, âWhy did I pull away?â
She nodded, but held up a hand to stop him before he could answer.
âDo you⊠was it always platonic?â She sighed, feeling embarrassed for having misread the situation.
Tomâs cheeks flushed as he rubbed the back of his neck, ânoâ.
Y/n wiped her face, stopping as Tom moved his free hand up to take over the action himself.
âBut it is by now?â She asked shyly.
âY/n, I donât know that youâre in the right place to have this discussion righ now darlingâ he warned tenderly.
She took a deep breath, âI think now the perfect time because, if I didnât do it now⊠I might not have taken the jumpâ.
Tom sucked in a breath, âwhat?â
âIâve tried Tom. Truly, I have. I tried to not feel this way, I mean weâre friends. Best friends. And I love thatâ she said her voice shaking.
Tom squeezed her hand and stroked her cheek as he listened to her.
âI donât think I can be just friends with you. Even if you donât feel the same way anymore. I⊠I will always see you differently and want to be moreâ she whispered, closing her eyes.
Tom felt his lips grow into a wide grin and bit his bottom lip to control it.
âY/n/n,â he began softly.
âIâm not saying we canât be friends. I donât want to lose you Tom. I canât lose you. But, I donât think Iâll ever not see you as something else, somethingâŠâ
âMore?â He asked for her.
She nodded, opening her eyes to gauge his reaction.
He smiled softly at her and took a deep breath.
âLove, Iâm honored to hear you say all of that. But-â he began.
âButâ she sighed, shaking her head and looking away from him in disappointment.
Tom tugged her hand, his other hand tilting her face back to look at him, âplease. Please just listen to meâ.
She nodded and blinked slowly at him in silence.
âYou are everything. Everything. There isnât anything I wouldnât do for youâ he confessed, stroking her cheekbone.
âI mean, bloody hell love, it hurts me just how much I ache for you. And to watch someone else be with you, especially someone who is idiotic enough to risk losing you, it kills meâ Tom admitted, voice wavering .
âIâm so very in love with you y/n. But right now, you need time. Time to heal and move on from what he did. Iâll be here the whole time. And Iâll be here afterâ he said.
She sniffles, a small smile on her lips, âso, youâre not mad I kissed you?â
Tom chuckled and shook his head, âif I were your boyfriend, Iâd pepper you with kissesâ.
Y/n bit her lip, âbut you donât want to be my boyfriend..?â
Tom lifted her hand to his lips, placing a soft kiss on her knuckles, âyouâre not hearing me love. I want to focus on consoling you right now. If you still feel this way about me after⊠We can talk about us later, okay?â
She smiled, pressing her lips together to keep them from displaying an embarrassingly large grin, âus⊠I like the sound of thatâ.
Tom grinned, âas do I darling. But for now, movies and cuddles?â
Y/n nodded, âmovies and cuddlesâ.
He pulled her back to his lap, wrapping his arms around her tightly as she cuddled against his chest.
As Tom began the next movie, Y/n hummed softly, enjoying the warmth Tom instilled in her heart.

© VETTELSVEE (2024). please, do not steal, copy or translate my works. thanks for reading!
You pulled the flush and got up, being careful not to get dizzy. You took some paper and wiped the corners of your mouth to remove any possible traces of vomit. You headed to the sink automatically, quickly pulling out the toothbrush youâve gotten used to carrying since nausea became part of your daily routine. You really tried to get rid of the acidity in your throat and the bad taste in your mouth, but as you expected, and knowing you've been experiencing this more times than you'd like in the past month and a half, it was impossible.
"Y/N, are you still there? Are you okay?" Britta's voice, accompanied by a few knocks on the door, snapped you out of your trance. You startled and forced yourself to answer, even though it was the last thing you feel like doing.
"Yes, Iâm coming. Just a sec!"
"Donât take too long," she replied. "Not that I donât want you to take your time, but Seb is worried."
Panic-stricken, you suppressed a laugh that almost escaped.
If only he knew what you were about to doâŠ
"Donât worry, Iâll be right out," you answered.
You stared at yourself in the mirror, contemplating your own reflection longer than youâd like. Minutes passed, and you almost completely lost track of time, aware that you needed to put an end to the intrusive thought that was telling you that what you were about to do was, wrong but inevitably the best thing.
You were going to break away from everything youâve wanted since you were a child just because things hadn't turned out "right." Seb was at the peak of his professional career, constantly surpassing himself in every race, making history, while you remained stuck in your hometown, working at a bar, dealing with drunks and immature kids pretending to be adults daily, because you didnât have the luck, or perhaps the financial means, to study what you had dreamed of since you were a child who just wanted to make music.
You leaned on the sink, feeling the cold starting to penetrate your body. A great tremor shook you, and it became increasingly difficult to stay on your feet. Your eyes filled with tears as you confronted the reality of what you were about to do, of the decision you'd made.
Since your boyfriend began not only achieving his dreams but making a name for himself, you thought you didnât deserve him because you were heading in the opposite direction. Now that youâve gotten pregnant by him, possibly because the birth control pills you were taking failed for some unknown reason, you felt like this even more.
Despite the love you still felt and possibly always will feel for Sebastian, since you took the pregnancy test with Hanna at one of the most secluded malls in Heppenheim, you knew that letting him know he was going to be a father was never part of your plans.
"Come on, Y/NâŠ" you told yourself, still staring at your reflection. "This is for Seb. You're doing this for him and his career."
You took a deep breath a couple more times, feeling the knot in your throat choking you. You looked at the girl full of insecurities you were one more time. Her eyes reflected doubt and, above all, fear, and you sadly sensed that it will continue to be this way from now on.
Trying to control yourself, you slowly opened the bathroom door, as if wanting to torture yourself. Britta was sitting in one of the chairs, reviewing something in a notebook until you closed the door a bit harder than you meant to.
"Are you really okay?" she asked again, giving you an uncertain look. "I've been hearing you vomit for several weeks now. Donât you think you should go to the doctor?"
The knot in your throat seemed to tighten even more. See a doctor⊠Of course youâd been to the doctor! Four weeks and, as of today, four days pregnant was the answer, but no one beyond your parents and your best friend could know.
"Yes, Iâm fine," you replied quickly, trying to fake your answer as best as you could. "Donât worry. Itâs probably just a bit of stress," you added, praying she believed you. "I haven't had time to see a doctor, but I assure you, with all my heart, that everything is fine."
And that's why you're leaving the love of your life today.
Britta seemed to hesitate for a moment. Her lips remained slightly open, as if she wanted to say something. Her look gave you the feeling that she didn't quite believe what you were saying.
"Whatever you say, Y/N," she finally said, standing up from her seat. "But seriously, if you need to talk or anything, Iâm here for you."
"I know."
"Well, seeing that you're as calm as a lake, weâd better hurry up," she told you. "The last free practice session is about to start, and Seb is probably worried why we havenât come back yet."
You prepared to leave the room with her. You were more than sure to go with her, but as you were almost out the room, you realize it was now or never.
You stopped before going from the driverâs room to the garage, watching Britta hurry down the stairs, probably aware that you were running late even though there were still about forty-five minutes before the session started.
"Wait, Britta. Just a sec!"
You were convinced your shout from the top of the stairs was heard by more people than youâd like. You wished you could turn invisible as you saw some eyes on you, including Brittaâs, which made it hard to speak, and not to mention the variety of emotions you were feeling inside you.
You needed to calm down and act a bit better, or everything youâd been mulling over will end up falling apart.
"Iâd like to talk to Seb⊠alone," you finally said.
"Y/N Y/L/N," she said your name much more seriously now. "Youâve told me that everything is fine, but⊠are you sure it really is? Are you sure nothingâs wrong?"
No, everything is wrong, and yes, more things are happening than Iâd like.
You knew you could trust Britta completely. You were sure that if you told her the news before you did to Seb, she wouldnât say anything, at least not right away. You wanted to do it; in fact, youâd love to do it because she was like a second mother to you, but you knew you couldn't because, once you left, thereâs a really high chance she might end up telling him everything in a moment of weakness.
"Yes, yes, Iâm fine. Itâs nothing serious, donât worry," you replied with a sigh, trying to console the PR woman and yourself. "I just need to talk to him about⊠well, a minor issue."
"Of course. Go get him, Iâll wait here. Heâs probably talking to Rocky or Horner about who knows what. He hasnât gone far, especially considering how eager he was to see you."
"Can you get him for me?" you let it out casually.
You ignored her last comment because now, your nerves were eating you alive. Britta seemed to notice your anxiety, so you were grateful she ignored it and acted as if nothing is wrong.
You sighed in relief when you saw her nod, and you couldn't stop thanking her out loud for what she just did for you.
"Lie down on the physioâs couch and try to rest a bit, you look a bit pale," she insisted. Reluctantly, and after repeating it a couple more times, you finally listened to her. "Seb will be here soon. You know heâll drop everything when it comes to you."
And it was true. Once she left, you remained lying down, drawing small shapes on your stomach with your index finger. As you whispered things to what would supposedly be your child, a whirlwind of varied thoughts flooded your mind.
A small pressure settled in your chest as you became aware that the idea of breaking up with Sebastian was becoming a reality. You didn't want to face it and largely refused to, but you knew that for both of you, especially him, it was actually the best.
Hiding the truth from the guy youâd loved longer than youâd like to admit is exactly the opposite of what you should do, but because he was the most important person in your life, and you knew him almost as well as yourself, you knew he'd have time to play moms and dads in real life.
This year, the only thing he should focus on was winning his fourth Formula 1 World Championship, not learning how to change diapers or feed a baby.
Your thoughts vanished when the door opened abruptly, startling you. Seb appeared with his suit hanging at his waist, hair completely tousled, and a face revealing worry matching the situation you havenât told him about yet.
"Sunshine! Britta told me youâre not well. What happened? Do you want to go to the doctor? I donât care about missing the free practice: youâre the most important thing."
The German quickly took your cheeks in his hands. You hadnât even sat up, and he was already trying to warm your face with his palms, moving it from side to side and examining you as if he was a doctor with the solution to your problems.
"Iâm fine, love, relax," you said, breaking free from his grip.
"I know you better than Iâd like, Y/N. Youâre pale," he pointed out. "You rarely get pale. The last time I saw you like this was when the police chased us after they caught you doing an illegal concert in the school square."
Your anxiety grew more at his perception. You couldn't hide the lie you concocted with Hanna for much longer.
"Seb, really, Iâm fine," you insisted, swallowing hard as you tried to find the right words.
He didn't seem to agree with your answer once again, and he didn't seem willing to let it go easily.
For a moment, you were tempted to tell him the truth, especially when you noticed his eyes fixed on you, not intending to look away until he found out what you really wanted to say⊠As if he wants to know that he was going to be a father next January if your gynecologistâs calculations and the latest technology were correct.
You mustered the courage to look him in the eyes. His concern overwhelmed you completely. When he made a move to hug you and you fell into his arms, you knew you couldn't keep dodging the truth.
"SebâŠ" you started to say, slowly pulling away from him, "the truth is that... well, there's something wrong."
He clenched his jaw and got very serious.
"Tell me, Y/N. Whatever it is, you know you can tell me."
"I know, love. I want to tell you everything, butâŠ" you began calmly, your voice breaking. "This is different, and itâs going to be a bit difficult."
"What do you mean by different and difficult? Y/N, whatâs going on?"
Your hands fidgeted nervously as you tried to find the best way to cause him the least harm possible. You noticed that the German's nervous and worried tone had dissipated, and now it was anger that seemed to be consuming him.
"I want to tell you, but I donât know how to do it without hurting you," you admitted in a whisper.
There it was, you had let it slip.
You didnât know what else to say, so you decided to wait for Sebastianâs response. Anguish had taken hold of him, and you knew he was waiting for your words as much as you were waiting for his.
His behavior wasnât helping you; on the contrary, the feeling of guilt was consuming you, as you had foreseen, but there was no turning back now.
It was impossible for you to even think coherently enough to say something that made sense.
You watched as your boyfriendâs gaze turned into pure pain, a pleading search for answers that you didnât dare to give him.
"SebâŠ" you spoke again, struggling to maintain your composure and reaching for his hand at the same time. "I need you to listen to me, please."
"I just want you to tell me the truth, Y/N," he called you by your full name. That was the indicator that things werenât going well and wouldnât be again. "Whatever it is, Iâll be able to deal with it."
"I donât want us to be together anymore," you declared. "Iâm not in love with you anymore. I havenât been for about a month or so."
The silence that flooded the room after your false confession was too uncomfortable. His eyes filled with tears; yours did too, but for a different reason than his.
He thought you had stopped loving him when, in fact, you loved him more than ever, especially now.
"Why are you telling me this? Why, Y/N?" he wanted to know. "I thought we were great⊠I really believed we were better than ever."
"I donât know, Seb," you murmured between sobs, trying to hide your face so he wouldnât see how truly affected you were. "There are⊠there are couples that stop loving each other, and thatâs what I think has happened with me. With us."
"What can I do to make you fall in love with me again? I canât lose you. I canât lose the sunshine of my life, not when we promised each other a life together."
"You canât do anything, Seb, and Iâm really sorry," you falsely admitted with sadness, trying not to succumb to his desperate plea.
"Sometimes things stop being what they were in the beginning, and, well⊠ours is no longer what it used to be."
"Of course, itâs not what it used to be! Everything was getting better until you decided to drop this on me, Y/N!" Sebastian yelled at you.
"I was even going to ask you if you wanted us to getâŠ"
"And thatâs why I feel itâs better if we move on, but each on our own path!" you interrupted with another shout.
Itâs not real, Y/N. Everything youâre saying is a lie.
You inhaled and exhaled more times than you would have liked, but it felt necessary. This charade to try to make Sebâs life a little better was not only costing you your relationship but also your mental health in the long run.
"Is there someone else, Y/N?"
Vettel's voice denoted anger. Rage consumed him at the possibility that there was an answer he didnât want to hear. His fists, clenched tightly and turning his knuckles white, were proof of it.
"No, not exactly."
And once again, the camouflaged truth.
"What are you saying?" he spat at you, getting closer and closer, consumed by anguish.
"I mean not exactly, but⊠yes. There is someone else, Seb," you admitted.
The shouts, full of reproaches, insults, and slurs, flooded the room.
You tried to turn a deaf ear. You thought this was all part of a performance and tried to convince yourself that in the future, everything would be fine when you knew it would be the opposite.
"How could you do this to me, Y/N?! How could you cheat on me after almost seven fucking years together?!" Sebastian shouted, taking out his anger on a vase on his desk, throwing it to the ground, spilling the water and the flowers he had given you just a day ago.
"Weâve been through so many things together. Weâve grown up together and fulfilled our dreams together, and now youâre leaving me for some guy you must have slept with on a whim?!"
"Do you think this is easy for me, Sebastian?" you replied, your words true for once. "Stop lying, okay? The only person who has fulfilled their dreams here is you," you said, showing your disagreement on that topic that you knew hurt you and that he had mentioned to hurt you. "While youâve been living your life as a driver and being the center of attention, Iâve kept working in the same disgusting bar full of creepy old men Iâve been working at since I finished high school," you shouted, furious. You knew this kind of stress wasnât good for the baby, but right now you didnât care. "Iâve been saving as much as I could to build a prosperous future even though my salary was a pittance, composing songs and singing them with the hope that theyâll reach someone someday and not be forgotten."
"Iâve told you a million times that you donât need to work in that fucking bar full of drunk old men who fuck you with their eyes to have a good life," he protested, now much calmer. "With what they pay me we can live comfortably. It's more than enough for both of us."
"I know," you responded calmly, though you were on the verge of an anxiety attack, "but I also know that I can achieve things on my own without anyoneâs help."
The blonde let out an ironic laugh. Immediately, he crossed his arms, lifted his head, and looked at you.
"Youâve always been too stubborn, Y/N. Now I see what your future expectations are. After all, I understand: if you never got into the Berlin Art Academy on your own, and youâre still working at the same place after so longâŠ"
You stood still, not knowing what to say or do because you knew exactly what he meant with every word that came out of his mouth. It felt like your feet were cemented to the ground; his words continuously hitting you, wanting to hurt you more and more.
"How dare you to say that to me?"
If you were already shaken and almost broken after this whole conversation, now you were completely sunk. Seeing your reaction, tears streaming down your cheeks non-stop, he seemed to regret it.
Quickly, he approached you, opening his arms intending for you to bury yourself in them. You, as stubborn as he said you were, refused not only the hug but any physical and non-physical contact he wanted to have with you.
"Y/N, Iâm sorry⊠I didnât mean to say that," yes, that was clear, but it had already been said, and the damage was done. "I was wrong. Please forgive me."
No matter how much he kept talking, trying to apologize and make amends, there was nothing else to do.
Without saying anything else, you began to gather all your belongings from the driverâs room of who could now be considered your ex-boyfriend. You didnât want to do it; you didnât want to start the zero-contact phase with the boy you had loved since you were ten years old, the one who had loved you like no one ever had before and like no one ever would.
You were saying goodbye to the father of your child to venture into raising her alone so he could pursue his dream in peace and achieve all the successes he so longed for.
âWhat are you doing, Y/N?â
âPacking. Iâm leaving.â
Your eyes were fixed on the floor, your hands fumbling with the few belongings left to pack in the small backpack you usually took to the paddock. Now, you would have to return to your hotel room and quickly pack everything into the suitcase, rush to the airport, and pray you didnât miss the flight.
âWhat do you mean, youâre leaving?â the blonde frowned, incredulous. âItâs Friday, Y/N, we have the whole weekend ahead of us.â
âWell, from now on, youâll have all the weekends to yourself,â you shook your head, unable to bear his comments trying to make you stay. âFrom now on, you wonât have me here on weekends, nor in your life. Iâm leaving your life, and Iâm not coming back,â you repeated, emphasizing the finality of your words.
Vettel was speechless at your declaration. He kept shaking his head, approaching you, trying to take your belongings, but you stopped him.
No matter how much you wanted to, you werenât going to stay.
âWhat do you mean by âleaving my life and not coming backâ?â
âIt means Iâm going back to Heppenheim, Sebastian,â you turned to him, trying to maintain composure. âIâm going back, youâll also end up going back even though we live⊠you live in Switzerland,â you immediately corrected yourself, âbut I hope we never see each other again.â
The firmness behind your words scared you. Everything was a lie that, as the conversation progressed, had grown until you doubted what was real and what wasnât.
âI really hope you achieve everything you are working hard for,â you continued, insisting to yourself not to break down right there. âI hope you win the championship this year and get the four consecutive ones youâve wanted for. You, more than anyone, deserve all of it, and I know youâre capable of that and much more.â
You said nothing more because you had stopped being strong. You left, without looking back, the room where you had spent much more time than imaginable, and one of the many places that made up the story starring Sebastian Vettel and you.
You carefully descended the stairs. You walked with a false sense of security through the RedBull garage, dodging any questions about why you were crying, where you were going, and if you had argued with the teamâs golden boy, including the endless questions from Britta Roeske that you were trying to ignore at all costs.
You felt curious eyes following you wherever you went, but you didnât care in the slightest. It was all done.
Now, it was just you and the little pea, or whatever size the baby was.
âY/N, wait!â
Sebastianâs desperate shouts echoed behind you, getting closer.
You stopped dead, clutching the only strap of the backpack hanging over your shoulder. You slowly turned toward the direction the voices seemed to be coming from and saw the driver running to you, almost choking, as he wiped tears from his cheeks and even those still falling from his eyes.
âI love you, Y/N.â
His voice was choked, and his hands acted on their own. Still, it didnât stop him from taking your face in his hands and pulling you into a kiss that unleashed a whirlwind of emotions, where you tasted each otherâs tears as you had done many times in your relationship. Where you silently said millions of I love yous that only you and he knew perfectly.
âPlease, donât go, sunshine,â the German expressed. âWhatever it is, we can work on it, but please, donât let us end.â
âI love you too, Seb, but thereâs someone else.â
You finally confessed⊠not in the most ideal way, but in the right one, especially considering what your goal was after all this trail of lies.
âThereâs a new person in my life, and Iâm afraid to say that no matter how much I love you, I love them more than I love you, and I always will,â you continued, knowing that every word you were saying about your baby was true. âI love you, Sebastian Vettel, and Iâll never stop loving you, but that person is my main priority right now.â
âHave you been unfaithful?â
Sometimes silence is worth more than a thousand words. In this case, it was the exact opposite.
You stood in front of him for a few seconds, debating internally whether to answer or leave as calmly as possible, without attracting more attention than you already had. You decided on the latter because you couldnât speak, and the tears wouldnât let you see clearly; not to mention your judgment was so clouded that you couldnât think clearly about the next step to end this nightmare.
You finally directed one last look at Seb; whispered that you loved him and always would, even though it was over between you.
All it took was for you to lower your head, turn around, and continue walking, fighting not to look back, to realize that you had made the biggest mistake of your life and would never, for anything in the world, be able to forgive yourself.
And you knew perfectly well that Seb wouldnât either.

pairing: chris hemsworth x male reader
request: Chris Hemsworth x twink!reader in a full nelson position? Size difference, degradation, rough sex and daddy kink please. Could it be that Chris discovered that reader was sleeping with other men like Chris Evans, Tom Holland, Will Poulter, etc? Chris is reader's sugar daddy and Chris is married, so technically they weren't dating. But Chris got so jealous (and very horny) when he found out reader was a whore that after the intense sex he promises to leave his wife for him and make it official. Even letting other men continue sleeping with reader, only Chris is now part of it now.
warnings: smut, rough sex, breeding kink, daddy kink, sugar baby reader, slight degradation, cheating!sugar daddy!chris, mentions of reader having sex with other actors, size difference
"you think its cute to be whoring yourself out to them huh" chris bellows while plowing into at a relentless pace, your back firmly placed against hid big chest while his hand wrapped around you neck drawing a gasp out of you "no" you yelp trying to slow chris' thrusts by pushing him back but he just grabs you hands and pin them to your back and pushes your face into the bed with your ass up in the air.
"then who does this sweet pussy belong to" he questions as his hands pushes your face further into the bed "yours daddy only yours" you breathlessly say as tears drip down your cheeks from the hours over over stimulation chris has put you through "and who's dick is the only dick for this hole" chris asks slapping your ass a couple times "yours sir" you say trying your hardest not to faint "yeah thats right no man is ever gonna pleasure your slutty ass the way i do" chris spits slamming into you with big thrust, a loud clap coming after each one.
"please chris i cant take it anymore" you beg "shut up, you weren't saying that when you were going around and letting those other men use your body like a prostitute" he says huskily, pounding you deeper into the matress "if you dont stop im gonna fucking break" you try and convince him "good then those others bitches wont get to use you anymore" chris snarls "please i need a break" you plea "shut up whores like you dont get breaks, whores that let other men use their hole raw" he roughly says.
you felt like your whole core was on fire for the countless hours of chris fucking you but it was your fault for letting chris, tom, and will fuck you, but how could you deny them with their hunk bodies and huge dicks, it was impossible but this is the consequences of your actions.
"i should fill you up so much it'll look like you're pregnant so they know not to fuck you" chris grunts grazing the good spot in your hole for the hundredth time, and you moan to chris' words "you like that, the idea of me getting you pregnant you walking around with a belly full of my cum" chris laughs at your reaction making you moan more and more to the idea "yes" you lightly say.
"speak up, y know i cant hear you when you're getting ruined like this" he says pulling your head up by your hair to face him "please ruin my hole, fill me up with you cum, i wanna be pregnant by you" you beg thrusting your ass back on his dick, "im gonna ruin your tiny body so much" chris growls through shut teeth "please do daddy" you plea "yeah now who do you belong to baby" chris asks as he slams into again "yours daddy" you answer sloppily "thats right and im gonna make sure you remember that" chris smirks pinning your arms behind you.
"my wife's pussy could never compare to you" chris says trowing his head back in ecstasy "thank you" you cry out as chris fills you up for the fifth or sixth time, he groans loudly as you milk the cum out of his dick, still so tight after so long of fucking session.
chris plops next to you with a light grunt "you okay" he asks sweetly, moving the hairs that are stuck to your forehead by sweat "yeah... just a little tired" you huff "dont worry ill buy you whatever you want after this" he coos "thank you chris" you say "and i promise ill leave my wife so we can be together for the rest of our lives" chris says rubbing your back"
"yeah okay" you say turning away, chris had said that same thing every time you guys fucked but never went through with it "hey look at me" he demands turning your face towards him by your chin "i promise this time" he says kissing your forehead "and you know what i guess you can continue fucking the other guys but-" he says but before he can finish you hug him "thank you chris" you excitedly say.
"hey now let me finish, you can continue fucking them but only if im their" chris emphasizes the but "fine i can deal with that" you huff playfully before kissing chris deeply "i love you" chris says pulling you into a cuddle "i love you too" you reply laying your head onto chris' chest and falling asleep.

THE DYING EMBERS OF A FLICKERING FLAME.
Drew Starkey x Reader.
DISCLAIMER: This oneshot is in no way a reflection of these people in real-life. This is only for fun and dramaticized for entertainment. No one in this story is disliked by me, I like them all a normal amount.
Warning: cheating, bipolar emotions, inaccurate depiction of Drew's personality, cuss words, implied sexual acts.
WORD COUNT: 21468 words.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The hum of the gathering buzzed softly in the background, a mix of laughter, clinking glasses, and distant conversations. Odessa leaned against the doorframe, her eyes narrowing as she scanned the room. Her lips pressed into a thin line when her gaze landed on the girl waving at Madelyn from the bar.
Or rather, the woman.
âIs thatâŠ?â Odessaâs voice trailed off, her bushy eyebrows drawing together as her chest tightened. It couldnât be. Her gaze swept over the figure in disbelief, studying the sleek haircut, the sharp-edged confidence in her posture. That couldnât be Y/N.
Y/N, with her wide, pleading eyes, her constant hovering around Drew, the girl Odessa had always written off as a pitiful rival. Y/N, who once had the nerve to think she could compete for Drew. Odessaâs stomach churned as the wound of insecurity reopened, her possessive side flaring like a long-dormant flame suddenly fed fresh air.
The girl was gone. In her place was a woman.
Cool where Odessa was warm. Composed where Odessa was vibrant. Polished where Odessa was raw.
Odessa tore her gaze away, muttering something under her breath, but the unease stuck with her, threading itself into every movement she made.
In the kitchen, Drew stood at the charcuterie board, selecting a slice of brie with absent focus. He glanced up at the soft sound of someone approaching. His eyes widened slightly when he saw her.
âHey, Y/N,â he said softly, his voice tinged with surprise.
Her gaze flicked to him, calm and unreadable. She nodded, offering a polite smile. âDrew.â
Drew faltered. The change in her was sharp, cutting. This wasnât the girl he rememberedâalways trailing after him, laughing too hard at his jokes, hoping for scraps of his attention. This woman was different, a cool presence that unsettled him in its unfamiliarity.
âYouâre⊠different,â he said, tilting his head as he studied her. âHuh?â
Y/N frowned slightly, straightening her posture as her hands clasped the whiskey in her hand. âSorry?â
âYou just seem different,â Drew clarified, raising an eyebrow. His gaze swept over her again, almost searching. âA good different. Youâve grown up. Yeah, thatâs it. YouâWow.â
Her smile tightened. âThank you?â
The sharpness of her tone caught him off guard, and he furrowed his brow. Where were the puppy dog eyes? The shy, desperate eagerness? Instead, she looked at him like a stranger wouldâpolite, distant.
âYouâre welcome,â he muttered, stepping closer. He gestured to the spread in front of them. âSo, what have you been up to lately?â
She tilted her head thoughtfully. âIâve had some shoots done recently. Worked with Tom Holland for his campaign, âBero.â Heâs a great guy. And Iâve been flying around a lot. âOne Pieceâ is shooting again, and I wanted to support Tazâyou remember Taz Skylar, right?â
Drew blinked. âWait, you were in the One Piece adaptation?â His surprise was genuine, but it quickly twisted into something else.
âNo, no,â Y/N corrected with a laugh, her tone warm. âI just went to support Taz. Heâs amazingâsuch a sweetheart.â
Her fond smile lingered, and Drew felt something stir in him. Irritation, maybe. He couldnât place it exactly, but the way the conversation shifted entirely to her world, her accomplishments, her effortless confidenceâit grated on him. He suddenly felt like an extra in a story where he used to be the lead.
âSo, youâve been busy,â he said, forcing a casual tone. âWorking and all. Been seeing anyone?â
She opened her mouth to reply, but before a word could escape, Brooke Starkeyâs arms wrapped around her in an exuberant hug.
âY/N!â Brookeâs bright voice cut through the room, drawing eyes as she squeezed Y/N tight.
Y/N laughed, her expression softening as she returned the hug. âBrooke! Itâs been ages. How are you?â
âIâm great!â Brooke beamed, pulling back to flash her braces. âOur sisterâs kids are growing up so fast. Seriously, theyâll be taller than me soon!â
Y/N chuckled, shaking her head. âThey grow like weeds, donât they?â
Brookeâs grin turned sly. âWhat about you? Whatâs new? Any guys?â
Y/N's laugh was light, breezy. âFunny, your brother was just asking me the same thing.â
She glanced at both of them with a subtle arch of her brow, her smile polite but distant. Drew swallowed hard, sensing the shift in herâone he wasnât sure he could keep up with.
The energy in the room shifted, tension crackling subtly beneath the surface as Brookeâs teasing voice broke through the hum of chatter.
âHe was?â she asked with a smirk, glancing between her brother and Y/N. âYouâre always so nosy.â
Drew rolled his eyes, glaring half-heartedly at his sister. âJust curious, is all,â he said, the corner of his mouth twitching upward despite himself. âAlways need to know whatâs going on.â
Y/N's tilted her head, her tone sharp yet calm. âNot always.â
Brooke looks between them awkwardly, before excusing herself. âIâm just gonnaâyeah.â
Drew chuckled, the sound low as he met her steady gaze. âOkay, not always,â he admitted. Then, leaning slightly closer, he added, âJust when itâs important to me.â
Her expression didnât shift, but her narrowed eyes betrayed her disbelief. âWhy would it be important to you?â
Her words hung in the air, and for a moment, Drew hesitated. Why was it important? The truth lingered on the edge of his mind, taunting him, but he wasnât about to admit it.
âBecause weâre friends?â he said, his tone light but his jaw tight. The answer felt hollow, and he knew it. Friends. Thatâs what he was supposed to believe. So why did it bother him to imagine someone else making her smile the way she used to smile at him?
Y/N let out a laugh, sharp and incredulous. âFriends?â she echoed, shaking her head. âWeâre not friends.â
Her words hit him harder than he expected, and Drewâs smile faltered. His brow furrowed as he stared at her, his voice growing colder. âThen what are we?â
Y/N hesitated, her expression flickering as she thought back to the sting of rejection, to the way heâd brushed her off a year ago like she hadnât mattered. But she wouldnât let that show now. She wouldnât give him the satisfaction.
âNothing,â she said simply, her voice steady.
âNothing,â Drew repeated, the word dripping with bitterness. His jaw tightened as he stared at her, the muscles in his arms flexing as he crossed them over his chest. âSo Iâm nothing to you?â
Y/N sighed, shaking her head. âYouâre twisting my words.â
Drewâs frustration bubbled over, his tone pointed as he pressed on. âHow exactly would you want me to interpret that? It either means weâre friends, or weâre nothing. Those are my only options, and you just said weâre nothing.â
Y/N's eyes flashed, but her composure didnât waver. âI said we are nothing,â she clarified, her voice cutting but cool. âWe have nothing. So stop getting so worked up over it and go back to your girlfriend.â
She gestured casually toward Odessa, her tone dismissive as she picked up her glass and drained it in one fluid motion. Then, without another glance at Drew, she turned away, her indifference slicing through the air like a blade.
Drew stood there, rooted in place, watching her as his emotions churnedâconfusion, irritation, something he refused to name. Whatever it was, it left a bitter taste in his mouth as he realised Y/N had turned away from him without so much as a second thought.
The tension between them coiled tighter, the invisible thread of unresolved emotions threatening to snap as Drewâs dry laugh filled the space between them.
âIâm getting worked up? Thatâs funny,â he said, the bitterness in his tone unmistakable. His eyes scanned her face, her cool, collected expression only stoking the flames of his frustration. This wasnât the Y/N he was used toâthe shy, eager-to-please girl who once hung on his every word. Her transformation was unsettling, throwing him completely off balance. âSince when did you grow a backbone?â
She didnât answer right away. Instead, she tilted her head, a small smile creeping onto her lips as she regarded him in silence.
That smileâcalm, knowing, infuriatingâignited something in Drew. His jaw clenched as he fought to keep his composure, but the flicker of annoyance was impossible to hide.
âWhatâs that look for?â he demanded, his voice edged with irritation as his narrowed eyes bore into hers.
Her amusement only deepened. She leaned back slightly, her gaze locked on his, unbothered. âI really get under your skin, donât I?â she said, her tone light and teasing, though there was a sharpness beneath it.
She raised her glass and took a slow sip of her whiskey, her movements deliberate, her gaze never wavering.
âYou have no idea how much,â Drew replied, his laugh low and humourless. The words felt like a confession he hadnât meant to make. He stepped closer, his height casting a shadow over her, the air between them electric with tension. His voice dropped, almost a growl. âWhen the hell did you grow a backbone and lose all that clingy neediness?â
The question hung in the air, laced with equal parts irritation and disbelief.
Y/N's smile widened, but it didnât reach her eyes. She leaned forward slightly, her tone laced with mock encouragement. âThere you go. Keep it up, buddy.â She tilted her head, raising an eyebrow as she gestured subtly with her hand. âGo on.â
Her sarcasm hit like a match to gasoline, fueling the fire in his chest. Drewâs hands balled into fists at his sides as he stared down at her, unsure if he wanted to yell at her orâsomething else entirely.
She just kept smiling, completely unfazed, and Drew couldnât help but think that this new Y/Nâthe one who could meet him head-on without flinchingâwas both maddening and utterly captivating.
The tension between them was unbearable, crackling like a live wire ready to snap. Drewâs nostrils flared as his jaw clenched tightly. His glare burned into her, a storm of frustration and confusion swirling in his blue eyes. She was playing him, and he knew it. Worse, it was working.
âYou wanna know what I think?â he asked, his voice dangerously low, his hands balling into fists at his sides.
Y/N tilted her head, her eyes sparkling with amusement as a wide smile spread across her face. âWhat?â
âI think this new âmaturityâ of yours is a load of bullshit,â Drew spat, his tone laced with venom. âAll of itâthe new look, the new attitude, the new youâitâs just a game. Youâre still the same girl who was obsessed with me not even a year ago.â
Y/N bit her lip to hold back a laugh, nodding sarcastically as she hummed, âHmm, hmm, yeah.â
Her mocking agreement only fueled Drewâs fire. His temper flared as he stepped closer, his broad frame towering over hers. The noise of the party around them faded into a distant hum as his voice dropped to a sharp whisper meant only for her.
âSo why donât you drop the act, huh?â he hissed, his tone biting. âStop pretending to be some tough, cool chick whoâs too good for everyone. Because I know the real you.â
Y/N's eyebrow arched, her lips curving into a sly smile as she flipped her hair over her shoulder. Her voice was light and teasing. âIs that so?â
Drewâs jaw tightened further, his blue eyes narrowing with anger. âYeah, it is so,â he bit out. âBecause youâre still the same girl who was whining and begging for my attention every chance you got. You were obsessed with me.â
Y/N's smirk didnât waver. Instead, she glanced up at the ceiling thoughtfully, her tone now playful, almost whimsical. âObsessed. You know, thatâs a great idea for a new song,â she mused, already toying with imaginary lyrics in her mind.
The blatant dismissal, the way she made light of his words, drove Drew over the edge. His hands clenched into fists again as he stepped even closer, closing the already slim distance between them.
Grabbing her chin firmly, he forced her to face him, his large hand tilting her head down so their eyes locked. His voice was a growl, low and heated. âAre you even listening to me?â
Y/N's expression didnât falter. If anything, her smirk deepened, her tone dripping with condescension as she pouted mockingly. âOh boy! Big feelings!â she taunted, her voice soft and sugary.
That was the final straw. Drew snapped. With a sudden, sharp motion, his hand shot to her hair, grabbing a fistful and tugging it harshly, his fingers curling tightly in the strands.
âYou think this is a joke?â he hissed, his voice trembling with barely restrained rage. âThis is bullshit.â
Y/N grunted, her playful demeanour cracking under the sharp pull of his grip. Anger flared in her own eyes now, replacing the cool confidence sheâd maintained.
âGet off of me,â she growled, her voice low and dangerous as she shoved at his chest.
But Drew didnât let go immediately. His grip lingered for a moment longer, his anger simmering before he finally released her, the tension between them pulsing like a heartbeat.
The silence that followed was deafening, their heavy breaths the only sound as they stared at each other, both furious, both unwilling to look away. Whatever this wasâthis thing between themâit wasnât over. But neither of them knew how it would end.
The tension between them reached a fever pitch as Drewâs grip on Y/N's hair tightened, forcing her to meet his blazing gaze. His nostrils flared, his jaw locked with fury, and yet, beneath it all, there was something elseâsomething darker, more conflicted.
âOr what?â he hissed, his tone low and sharp like a blade, his eyes narrowing dangerously.
Y/N didnât flinch. Instead, her voice was steady, almost mocking, as she leaned closer, her breath fanning his face. âOr youâre gonna lose your girlfriend,â she said softly, her tone laced with quiet defiance.
That landed. Drewâs glare faltered for a split second as he glanced sideways, his eyes darting to Odessa. She stood a few feet away, watching the two of them with a steely gaze, her lips pressed into a thin, disapproving line. The weight of her stare shouldâve been enough to snap him out of it, to remind him where his loyalties lay.
But when he turned back to Y/N, the lack of fear in her eyesâthe way she looked at him like she had all the power in the worldâsent a fresh wave of anger coursing through him. His grip on her hair tightened.
âDonât push me,â he ground out through clenched teeth, his voice barely above a whisper, trembling with restrained fury.
Y/N's lips curled into a small, daring smile, her eyes glinting with challenge. âThen let go,â she whispered back, her tone taunting, daring him to make his next move.
The words ignited something primal in Drew, a mix of rage and something else entirelyâsomething he didnât want to name. His blood boiled, and for a moment, the idea of pulling her closer, of silencing her with a kiss that would burn as much as their anger, flitted through his mind.
The thought caught him off guard. What the hell? He thought, blinking as the realisation unsettled him. âI said, donât push me,â he repeated, his voice hoarse, trembling with more than just fury now.
Y/N's chest rose and fell with her quickened breath, her defiant facade cracking ever so slightly as she glared at him. But even now, with the sting of his grip making her scalp ache, she refused to back down.
Her lips parted as if to speak, but the moment hung heavy between them, a storm of unresolved emotions crackling in the air. Around them, the curious glances of partygoers grew bolder, whispers starting to ripple through the room.
Odessa shifted in her spot, her arms crossing over her chest as her narrowed gaze darkened. The storm wasnât just between Drew and Y/N anymoreâit was closing in on all of them.
Y/N's taunts sliced through Drew like a blade, each word sharper than the last, cutting straight to his pride. She leaned in closer, her voice low and mocking, dripping with venomous amusement.
âYou like it. Look at you,â she whispered, her smirk growing as her eyes flicked over his face, savouring the anger simmering in his expression. âI make you feel like a man.â
Her tone turned almost sing-song as she pressed on. âBrute strength and all. Guess Odessa doesnât let you take the reins, huh? Is she the one always on top? Orâor are you the one whoâs on your stomach?â
A soft, mocking laugh escaped her lips, private and husky, meant only for him. The fire in Drewâs eyes burned hotter, his jaw tightening as his grip on her hair became almost punishing.
Heâd never hated someone so much, so deeply, in his entire life. Not just for her words, but for how easily she wormed her way under his skin, how her taunts had him seeing red.
âShut up,â he hissed through gritted teeth, his voice low and feral. His free hand turned her around towards the door of the ballroom with a touch that felt both instinctive and entirely wrong. He yanked her closer out into the hallway of the hotel lobby, a few feet away from the party, the music from inside echoing through the halls. He roughly pinned her to the wall, towering over her in an attempt to make her feel small, his strength rough and unrelenting.
But Y/N was relentless. Her smirk didnât waver, her voice dipping lower, the mocking edge cutting deeper. âOh shit! So Iâm right?â she drawled, her tone all cruel amusement. âYou always were a little bitchâof course youâre taking it from behindââ
Drewâs nostrils flared as the words hit him, an image flashing in his mind that he wanted nothing to do with. His anger surged to the surface, his breath coming fast and uneven as the space between them seemed to collapse under the weight of their shared fury.
âSay one more thing,â he growled, his voice low and dangerous, his grip tightening until the tension between them felt ready to explode. âI dare you.â
But Y/N only smiled, her silence speaking volumes, her eyes daring him to make his next move.
Drewâs chest rose and fell with the force of his breathing, every word she spat at him fueling the fire in his veins. He knew exactly what Y/N's was doingâthe low, husky tone, the way she held his gaze with those fiery, unyielding eyes. It was a game she had mastered long ago, one she used to play when she wanted to crawl under his skin, break him down, and leave him craving her.
And damn it, it was working.
His hand shot out, gripping her jaw firmly, forcing her to look up at him. His fingers dug into her skin as his glare bore down on her like daggers. âGod, I still hate you,â he hissed, his voice barely above a murmur, though the heat behind it was unmistakable.
âGood,â Y/N snapped back, her whiskey-rough voice dripping with venom. âCause I fucking hate you too.â
Her words hit like a slap, but they didnât cool his angerâinstead, they stoked it. He had almost forgotten how intense she could get when they fought, how raw and unfiltered their arguments became. It reminded him of the past, of how their fiery clashes used to end in bruising kisses and desperate hands. The passion between them was always a double-edged sword, cutting deep but sparking something he couldnât ignore.
And now, here she was, standing toe-to-toe with him, her eyes blazing, her voice rasping with that whiskey-coated edge, and it was like a damn switch flipped in his head.
âYeah? You hate me?â Drew growled, his voice rough and low, his grip on her jaw tightening as he leaned closer. His breath fanned her face, the space between them crackling with tension.
âFucking hate you,â Y/N bit out, her tone raw and scathing, but there was something else there too. Her breath hitched as he leaned even closer, his body crowding hers.
The words were venom, but the heat between them was intoxicating, suffocating. They were locked in a battle neither could walk away from, their anger feeding into something dangerous, something electric. For a moment, it felt like the whole world had fallen away, leaving only them in their storm.
Drew's grip on her hair and hip was rough, possessive, but for a moment, he stopped pullingâhis hand just held her there, keeping her exactly where he wanted her. They were too close, much too close, his face hovering inches from hers, his breath warm against her skin.
"Say it one more time," he demanded, his voice hoarse and tight with restraint.
Y/N's eyes narrowed, and she gritted the words out, her voice cold and biting. "I. Hate. You." Each syllable cut through the air between them, a challenge, a dare.
Drew's body burned with tension, his mind clouded with thoughts he couldn't push away. The wild look in his eyes intensified, and for a split second, he imagined doing what he should never doâtaking her then and there. His hand tightened on her hip, pulling her closer, making her feel the raw heat of his desire. He didn't speak for a moment, just stood there, close enough to taste her, as his pulse thudded through his ears.Â
"I hate you, too," he muttered, his voice low and gravelly, brushing against her lips with every word. The heat between them was palpable, suffocating.
Suddenly, Y/N recoiled, her head hitting the wall of the empty hallway with a soft thud. Her eyes widened in disbelief, and she gave him a scathing look. "What-what the fuck is wrong with you? Is this turning you on?!" she demanded, incredulous, her breath shaky.
Drew's eyes flicked to the empty hallway, his senses sharpening. She was right-they were alone, out of sight from the party, hidden in the shadows of the house. His pulse quickened as he looked down at her, pinned between the wall and his body. His grip on her hip tightened again, dragging her even closer. She could feel the evidence of his desire, pressing against her as he trapped her, no escape.
"No... no, you're just an infuriating little tease," he bit out through clenched teeth, trying to stay in control, but every word she spoke, every inch of her body pressed against his, made it harder.
Y/N's lips curled into a mocking smile, and she crossed her arms, staring up at him with a fire in her eyes.
"Tell that to the boner in your pants, Drew."
Her words were a slap to his pride, and he couldn't even deny it. He was harder than he had been in ages, his body betraying him with every second that passed, every breath he took in her presence. He was so close to losing control, to slamming her into the wall and kissing her until they both couldn't breathe.
"I didn't realise I was so transparent..." Drew muttered, a dry laugh escaping his lips. His tone was rough, strained, and distracted, and it took everything in him not to just close the gap between them and end the maddening tension.
In the dimly lit hallway, shadows danced against the walls, cast by the flickering fluorescent lights. The air was thick with tension, twisted by the words exchanged like daggers in the night. Y/N stood with an air of triumph, her lips curling into a mocking smile, eyes glinting with a challenge.Â
âYouâre so pathetic." she said, her voice dripping with disdain. The room seemed to pulse with her energy, vibrant and alive. Each word was a sharp blade, cutting deeper into him. âDo you like that I hate you? Does it turn you on? Maybe thatâs what I shouldâve done a year ago, huh? Treated you like the pathetic little bitch boy you really are.âÂ
The mockery twisted in the air, echoing like the haunting notes of a forgotten song. Y/N tilted her head, pouting as if addressing a child caught in a moment of irreparable shame. âThat what you want, bitch boy? Odessa not treating you shitty enough?âÂ
Every syllable dripped with contempt. She was the predator, and heâDrew, in this momentâfound himself the prey, reduced to a mere shadow of his former self. He had always reveled in his dominance, in being the one to command the room, but now she toyed with him like a cat playing with a wounded mouse.Â
She watched him, delighting in the flush creeping up his neck, the way he struggled to maintain his composure, a veneer of arrogance clinging to him like a well-worn mask. Even as he feigned indifference, the truth was clearâhis body betrayed him with a raging hardness, an embarrassing truth he couldnât reconcile.Â
Drew, usually so untouchable, felt like a spectre trapped in his own thoughts. This interaction was all wrong; he was the one who held all the cards. She was supposed to be begging for his attention, not striding away with such confidence, and every fibre of his being recoiled at the sudden shift in their dynamic.Â
âYeahâyeah thatâs what I thought,â Y/N said, a self-satisfied smirk tugging at her lips as she assessed his silence, the power dynamics visibly shifting. She turned her back to him, her confidence almost palpable as she began to saunter elegantly away, each step an affront to his pride.
âThatâs it? Just walk away?â he called after her, voice rough, almost desperate. He watched her, torn between admiration and resentment at her breathtaking poise. The very foundation of their relationship felt like it was crumbling. âYou canât talk smack like that and then just walk away⊠come on, Y/N, thatâs not fairââÂ
For a moment, she paused, the corner of her mouth twitching in amusement. The challenge hung heavy in the air, and the lingering silence wrapped around them like a shroud.Â
ââWatch me.â
Without a backward glance, she raised her middle finger high, her posture exuding defiance, before disappearing down the hallway, leaving him with nothing but confusion and bitterness. The echo of her heels faded, but the imprint of her words remained, seeping into the very marrow of his pride as he stood there, feeling as though the world had turned upside down.
âAfter her performance of âitâs ok, Iâm okââ
The dimly lit bar thrummed with the sounds of chatter and clinking glasses, but for Drew, the world outside faded into an obscure blur. His gaze remained fixed on the small stage at the front, where she poured out her heart and soul, lyrics dripping with emotion that felt all too personal. Each note struck like a hammer against his chest, resonating with the enormity of the unspoken between them. He could feel the weight of her anger like a heavy cloak draped over their shared history, one laced with moments both exquisite and excruciating.
She stood there, radiant and furious, her voice slicing through the air. How could she hold such fury and beauty simultaneously? Drewâs heart raced, a mix of admiration and regret pounding in syncopation with the beat of the musicâa primal reminder of what had been lost, yet fluttering with the thrill of what might still be.
When the final note faded into applause, Drew found himself drowning in the swirl of bodies, each one like a wave that could sweep him away and drown him in the chaos. He was desperate for her, craving clarity amid the confusion swirling in his mind. After what felt like an eternity, he succumbed to the weight of mixed emotions and found himself at the bar, seeking solace at the bottom of a glass that appeared deceptively comforting.
He sank deeper into his thoughts, how the night had spiralled from exhilaration to frustration, anger to longing. The alcohol numbed the edges, turning his world fuzzy and warm, yet his heart whispered that this moment was anything but resolved. As he hunched over his half-empty glass, he barely recognized how much he had needed thisâthis space, the drink, and yet, most of all, her presence.
âHowâd you like my song?â Her voice chimed behind him, familiar and sharp, an electric current that coursed through his veins.Â
Drewâs eyes closed for a fleeting moment before reality crashed into him. He turned slowly, the room spinning with the liquor, and found her standing thereâan enchanting silhouette framed by the faint glow of bar lights. The formal black dress clung to her like a second skin, accentuating every curve he had tried so hard to forget. He swallowed hard, a mix of admiration and guilt knotting in his throat.
âWhich one?â he replied dryly, raising his glass as if it were a shield against the vulnerability mixing in his chest.
âBoth,â she answered, her smile cutting through the layers of tension like a knife through fog.
Drew felt a rush of heat surge through him, not just from the alcohol but from the intensity of her look, the challenge lingering in the air between them. They were two people caught in the eye of a storm, everything else around them fading, leaving only the truth of what lay unspoken. Drew could feel the weight of her gaze, the layers of accusation and yearning in her eyes. This night was far from over, and the melody of their tumultuous connection was playing on loopâa reminder that sometimes, the most painful songs were the ones that resonated the deepest.
The dim light of the bar flickered like a hesitant heartbeat, casting shadows that danced around them as if unwilling spectators to the emotional tempest brewing at their table. Drew leaned back against the cool surface, his fingers tracing the rim of his glass, which felt more substantial than the reality unfolding before him. He scoffed, taking an appraising measure of herâhis eyes flitted down her form, pausing on the curves that the fitted dress clung to like a second skin.Â
She was enchanting, even when she didn't mean to be, and in that moment, he was painfully aware that he should not be feeling this drawn to her. But the alcohol coursing through his veins blurred the edges of reason and made the alluring figure before him even harder to dismiss.Â
âThe first one was catchy,â he replied, the words spilling out dryly, laced with an irritation he couldnât quite suppress.
âYeah, it is. Itâs also very true. Iâm not into you anymore, Drew. Letâs just get that straight,â she retorted, nonchalance drenching her tone like thick syrup. A casual shrug accompanied her dismissal, further igniting the confusion simmering within him.Â
There was a peculiar sense of calm in her voice that unsettled him, like the eerie silence before a storm. The sharp pang of rejection mingled with anger, swirling through him like an unpredictable tide. How could she sound so composed about losing something she had once clung to with fervour?Â
âHow could you just suddenly not be into me?â he shot back, intensity sharpening his features as he turned fully to face her. His eyes narrowed in desperate search of the truth hidden behind her façade.
âSuddenly? Itâs been a year,â she countered, her incredulity palpable, as if he had just voiced the most absurd notion.
âYeah, but⊠you wanted me so badly, for so long,â he murmured, the frustration weaving through his voice like a thread pulled taut. He held her gaze, their eyes locking, battling emotions bubbling to the surface. Anger simmered within him at her apparent indifferenceâhow could she let him go so easily? Frustration gnawed at his insides, a bitter aftertaste lingering from far too many nights spent tangled in longing.
âWhat does it matter? You never liked me back in the first place,â she laughed, the sound edged with disbelief and tinged with hurt, and it cut through him like a blade, sharp and unwelcome.
In that instant, the chaotic undercurrents of their shared history surged forth, thrumming with unspoken words and buried feelings. He felt the walls he had carefully constructed around his heart begin to tremble, as the vulnerabilities and insecurities he had refused to acknowledge clawed their way to the surface. How was it that they could share so many moments yet stand so utterly apart? The tension between them had shifted, now a weapon forged of resentment and longing, and he couldnât tell if it was meant to hurt or to heal.
The air in the dimly lit room crackled with tension, a palpable undercurrent as she leaned back against the bar, a playful smile dancing on her lips. He stood rigid, a storm brewing inside him, every laugh that escaped her only serving to stoke the flames of his frustration. Her laughâlight and airyâfelt like a slap to his face, igniting a fury he didnât fully understand. His fingers curled into fists, his nails biting into his palms as he gritted his teeth.
"You were obsessed with me," he said, the words escaping his lips like venom. "You chased after me for the longest time, even when all I did was insult you and tell you no."
Her response was laced with sarcasm, infuriatingly calm. "Yeah. Iâm aware." She rolled her eyes, the amusement in her tone cutting deeper than any insult could. The way she carried herself, so detached and yet vibrant, made the air thicken with an unspoken challenge. "And? Did you expect me to stay âobsessedâ with you forever?"
He felt his blood boil, each casual laugh of hers striking a nerve. It was as if she were mocking him, dismissing everything they had once shared, reduced to mere jokes. "I expected you to care," his voice dropped to a low murmur, laden with the weight of unfulfilled emotions as he locked his gaze onto hers, searching for any hint of regret, any sign of the girl he once knew so well.
The moment hung between them, electric and charged, until her smile softened, a fleeting glimpse of vulnerability breaking through her facade. She tilted her head, regarding him with a mixture of pity and something else he couldnât decipher. "I did care. And I paid the price."
In that instant, his heart stuttered. The walls he had built around his emotions began to crumble under the raw honesty in her gaze. She had cared, and yet somewhere along the way, the passion he had craved had turned cold, and now it was as if they were two strangers in a missed connection, trapped in the ruins of a past neither could escape.
Drew leaned against the polished wood of the bar, his heart racing as he watched her. The light that had once danced in her eyesâso bright and full of affectionâhad flickered out, leaving only an unreadable expression. She had once been head over heels for him, but now she seemed to regard him like a stranger.Â
He swallowed hard, feeling the weight of his emotions settle in his throat. âIf you cared,â he said, his voice quiet yet laced with desperation, âthen how could you just stop caring? Just like that?âÂ
She turned slightly, her eyes drifting back to him with an unsettling calmness. âI realised my worth,â she replied, an edge in her voice. âMet someone who could handle the way I loved.â
Her casual tone felt like a slap to his face, and he could feel his blood begin to boil beneath his skin. With every word she spoke, the anger rolled through him like an incoming tide, threatening to drown his better judgement. âSo I wasnât⊠good enough?â he asked, his voice dropping to a whisper, ice forming around his words. âI couldnât handle you?â
âYes. You treated me like shit, and we were only just friends,â she shot back, the bruise of her words hitting him hard. âYou used to laugh with Odessa about the fact that I genuinely loved you. So no, Drew. You definitely donât have the maturity to love the way I do.â
He could hardly breathe as the truth of her words hung in the air between them, heavy and unforgiving. The burden of their history crashed down on himâa million moments, a myriad of shared laughter, shattered in an instant. She downed her glass, the sound resonating like a closing chapter, and turned to walk away.Â
The sight of her retreating silhouette ripped through him. Drew froze for a moment, the realisation settling cold in his chest. She was walking away as if their connection had meant nothing, and that thought cut deeper than he wished to acknowledge. Her casual dismissal ignited a fury inside him; the anger morphed into desperation, and he felt something inside him snap.Â
As she moved effortlessly towards the hallway, her head held high, it felt like the final straw. The need for confrontation surged forth, drowning out his reservations. With a swift movement, he slammed his glass onto the bar, the noise cutting through the murmur of the crowd like a scream.
âWait!â he called out, pushing himself to his feet and following her, determination pooling in his gut.Â
Each stride felt like a battle against the storm of emotions swirling in his chest. He navigated through the dim corridor behind her, heart pounding as his thoughts raced. The shadows around them seemed to warp and bend, echoing the spiralling connection they once had.Â
The hallway stretched before them like a chasm, a barrier between desire and heartbreak. She sauntered forward, each step purposeful, her mind focused on escapeâthe lift at the end of the corridor promising a momentary sanctuary from the eruption of emotions that swirled inside her. But behind her footsteps, the sound of his hurried movement pierced through the tension, igniting a flame of defiance within her.
Drew was relentless, his heart pounding in sync with the fury that ignited his every nerve ending. He chased after her with an urgency that seemed almost desperate. Reaching out, he grasped her arm roughly, pulling her back so that she faced him, their eyes locking in a collision of unrefined emotion.Â
âYou didnât even deny that you loved me,â he accused, his harsh tone slicing through the air between them. The fiery intensity of his gaze burned into her, but beneath it lay a tumult of guilt and regret that he couldnât hide.
She stared back, unflinching. âI donât have to deny it. I did love you, Drew. Iâm not ashamed of that,â she snapped, her voice rising in defiance. âThe only thing Iâm ashamed of is all those damn years I spent being your friend, putting up with your ungrateful ass while you treated me like I was gum beneath your shoe when Odessa was around.â
With a fierce yank, she pulled her arm from his grasp, stepping back, the distance between them not just physical but emotional, an abyss that felt insurmountable.Â
In that moment, realisations flooded over him like a wave. He couldnât deny what she was saying. The truth struck him hardâhe had treated her poorly, clinging to denial and ignorance while pushing away the very love and adoration she had offered without condition. The weight of his actions bore down on him, a heavy cloak of regret that he felt unworthy to wear.
But his anger was a tangled mess, fueled by more than just her accusation. He was furious, not only at her for seemingly moving on but at himself for being the one who had driven her away. Matted feelings of jealousy and inadequacy mingled within him, and he seethed in frustration. How could she have let go so easily? How could she walk away when he suddenly longed for her presence?
As silence enveloped them, punctuated only by the soft ticking of time, she shook her head in disbelief, capturing his attention. He stood there, dumbstruck, the expression on his face a painful mix of confusion and vulnerability that sent waves of exasperation coursing through her.
Ugh, she thought, incredulity taking over. The sight of him standing there, lost and torn, made her roll her eyes in irritation. She turned away, dismissing the pull of his despair.Â
With a storm of unresolved tension swirling around them, Drewâs grip tightened as he spun her back to face him, the weight of his anger palpable in the air. The wall was cool against her back, a stark contrast to the fire igniting in her chest.
âDonât walk away when Iâm talking to you,â he growled, his voice a low rumble that echoed in the narrow hallway.Â
In response, she felt the fury that had simmered for too long rise to the surface, bursting forth in a desperate rage.Â
âI should have turned my back on you ages ago!âÂ
The words shot out of her mouth, a battle cry against the years of pain and frustration buried deep in her heart. In a moment fueled by raw emotion, she shoved him away with all the strength she could muster.
The force of her push stunned him, a harsh scoff escaping his lips as he stumbled back, disbelief momentarily erasing the anger etched on his face. But the shock quickly transformed into something far more potentâa surge of rage that pulsed through his veins like wildfire.Â
âYou donât get to just shove me like that!â he shouted, his jaw clenched, hands curling into fists at his sides. Drew stepped toward her again, closing the gap, invading her space. âYou shouldâve run from me a long time ago.â
âWell I did it now, havenât I?!â The incredulity in her voice matched the intensity in her eyes. âAnd Iâm SO glad youâre not in my life anymoreââ
Her laughter, sharp and scornful, cut through the tension like a knife. She placed a hand on her heart, mocking the very relief she felt.
âI mean seriouslyâIâm so glad I am not faced with having to deal with your bitch boy attitude anymoreââ She snapped at him, the words infused with the bitterness of their shared history.
His breaths quickened, tension coiling tightly in his chest. This was not how their exchanges used to go; usually, she wouldnât strike so hard or hit so true. She was saying the kind of things that wouldâve rolled off his back once, but now they burrowed beneath his skin, igniting the innate frustration refocusing his fury.
âYeah, youâre so relieved,â he shot back, his voice low and edged with venom, his eyes locked onto hers with an intensity that could ignite a fire. âBecause youâve found someone else now, right? Someone who can handle all your BULLSHIT!â
âYeah, ya know what? I did!â she retorted, each word an arrow aimed straight at his heart. âAnd he is so much better than you as a person! Because you suck! You suck, Drew! Youâre only nice to people you CHOOSE to be nice to!â
They stood there, their voices overlapping in a symphony of anguish and wrath. Each accusation only fueled the otherâs fire, a volcanic eruption of raw feelings that had been trapped beneath the surface for too long.Â
âLook at you,â he spat, his hands shaking slightly as the fury coursed through him, battling against the flicker of vulnerability that threatened to break free. âYou think youâve found better, but I know this is all youâve got. You think you can just toss me aside like yesterdayâs trash?â
She shook her head, disbelief mingling with irritation. âYou were the one who treated me like that! You made me feel like I was nothing, like I didnât even matter. And now youâre angry because I finally left?âÂ
There was a silence, charged with the weight of everything unspoken, their breaths mingling in the tense air as they stared each other down.Â
Drewâs heart raced, his insides a whirlwind of regret and unresolved longing. âYou just donât get it, do you?â he murmured, the bitterness in his tone fading ever so slightly. âI pushed you because I didnât know howâhow to deal with how I felt. I didnât mean toââ
âDidn't mean to what? Hurt me?â She interjected fiercely, crossing her arms defiantly. âYou didnât think I deserved more?â
The truth in her accusation hung heavy between them, and Drew clenched his jaw, the realisation hitting him like a punch to the gut.Â
âMaybe I didnât,â he admitted, voice dropping to a whisper, tinged with the bitterness of truth, âbut Iâm not okay with how this ended. With you hating me.âÂ
The subtle change in his demeanour caught her off guard, causing her to falter for a brief moment before the armour of anger enveloped her once again. "Hate you? No, Drew, I canât hate someone who never gave me the chance to matter.âÂ
And with that, the fight seemed to deflate, leaving a hollow echo of what had been. Their breaths mingled in the air, emotions boiling just beneath the surface, each of them facing the remnants of their once unbreakable bond.Â
The fluorescent lights flickered overhead, casting a cold glow over the small, confined space where tension had accumulated like a storm cloud. With each breath taken, the air thickened, pregnant with unspoken words and grudges long held.
âYou think heâs so kind?â Drew spat, his voice dripped with scorn as he advanced, changing the subject and closing the distance between them until their bodies nearly touched. âSo sweet and gentle? He probably lets you walk all over him!â
âWalk all over him?â she shot back, incredulity fueling her retort. âIs that your critique? Because if anyone knows about being pushed around, itâs you!" The memories swirledâa past of her always acquiescing and succumbing to his whims, even when they were merely friends. âYou let Odessa walk all over you, and now, you think youâve earned the right to judge me?â
A flicker of hurt crossed his features at the mere mention of Odessa. His jaw clenched tightly as her words stung like barbs. The fact they were even being compared grated on him, invoking a deep, seething anger that coursed through his veins.
âDonât pretend to understand my relationship with her,â he shot back, his fists clenching at his sides, his presence a looming shadow.Â
âYou donât know anything about me!â she replied, each word like a bullet aimed at his heart. âStay in your lane, Starkey.â
He leaned closer, the heat of their animosity palpable. âYou brought up my relationship first,â he hissed. âIs it jealousy that has you acting like this?â
âJealous? Of what?â she spat incredulously, the disbelief evident in her tone. âYour irresponsibility? Your immaturity? Your utter disregard for anyone but yourself?â
âJealous,â he reiterated, the word hanging heavily in the air between them. âJealous because I never cared about you like you cared about me. You wasted years of your life chasing after a guy who never saw you for who you are.â
His words pierced through her defences, causing some invisible emotional shield to crumble. For a moment, she stood there, stunned, a smile of painful acknowledgment flickering on her lips as she stepped back, her heart heavy with muted anguish.
He met her gaze and instantly recognized the devastation heâd unleashed. A realisation crashed down upon him: hurting her felt worse than he could bear. It was as if he had lost something he hadnât even realised he valued until it began to slip from his grasp.
âI knew this was a mistake.â She whispered to herself.
âWhat are you talking about?â he murmured, the edge of his voice softening as a hint of vulnerability broke through his bravado. He searched her eyes for some reassurance, for signs that the damage wasnât as profound as he feared.
âYou are my biggest mistake,â she whispered with quiet finality, stepping away from him, leaving a chasm filled with their unspoken words.
The truth of her statement sent chills racing through him, and the realisation unsettled him. He had chased after her anger, thrived on her attention, yet now was confronted with the stark reality that the chase had come at a devastating cost. âWhat?â The word escaped his lips in a breath, almost a plea.
âI wish Iâd never met you.â The weight of her words pressed upon him like a leaden shroud. âYouâre a bad person, Drew. I canât believe I fell in love with you.â
His chest constricted painfully, as if she had reached deep within and squeezed the very essence of him. Here was a woman who had loved him, who had given and sacrificed, and he couldnât recall ever treating her with the reverence she deserved.Â
âYeah. You and me both,â he replied, the bitterness in his tone betraying a deeper fracture seeping through.
An oppressive silence stretched between them, heavy with unfulfilled longing and regret. The air crackled with tension as he finally summoned the courage to ask what heâd long avoided. âWhy do you think Iâm a bad person?â
âBecause you enjoy hurting me,â she said, her voice steady yet piercing.
Her honesty hit him like a wave, oppressive and unrelenting. For so long, he had struggled to understand their tumultuous connection, always toeing the line between love and contempt. She had always returned to his side, accepting his jabs as part of their cruel dance, yet in that acceptance now loomed the haunting realisation that he had reveled in her pain.
His throat constricted, the truth too heavy for denial, as he swallowed hard against the bitter tide of her words. And then she added, as if the weight couldnât get heavier, âAnd you liked it when I kept coming back.â
His jaw clenched, her revelations spiralling through him like shards of glass. âYeah, well,â he murmured, reluctantly admitting defeat as self-loathing crept into his heart. âYou always did.â
âBecause I loved you,â she replied, a wistful tone mingling with the bitterness of those memories.
The admission landed like a heavy stone, ricocheting wildly within him. She had poured forth her heart, unearthing a part of her he felt dangerously unworthy of. âHow could you have ever loved me?â he whispered, barely audible against their shared past.
âI donât know.â The shrug she offered was faint, the defeat palpable.
âMaybe youâre just stupid,â he snapped, the bitterness rolling off his tongue like poison, but it was directed at himself as much as her.
âDonât take it out on me because youâre angry with yourself, Drew.âÂ
She turned, moving to leave, yet he caught her wrist, pulling her back, both pained and desperate. âYou donât get to judge me!â he growled, the edge returning to his voice, his grip a frantic plea for her to stay.
âJudge you? You think this is me judging you?â She scoffed, the lightning tension between them palpable. âIâm just pointing out the facts, asshole!â
âDonât call me that,â he warned, his voice low, not wanting to lose her, even as he felt the weight of his own words pressing against his conscience.Â
âWell? Whatâs that to you? Thatâs in the past, Drew! I donât love you anymore!â she shouted, the truth of it cutting through the spiralling chaos.
âGood!â he snapped back, a childish retort, fueled by anger rather than sense. âI never loved you!â
âGreat!â she responded, the sharpness in her voice echoing his emotions, yet hers felt like a sword piercing through.Â
âFine!â he exploded, even gathering up the remnants of his anger. âYou were just a nuisance to me, I tolerated you! You were a good little lapdog, always ready, but I never loved you. I never will!â
As his words ricocheted back at her, she blinked rapidly, her heart a battlefield of anger and disappointment.Â
He held her gaze, the tumult of self-loathing spilling over. Sheâd always been there, nurturing and steadfast, but he had carelessly dismissed her. âYou were convenient,â he spat. âI only kept you around when I needed you.â
Without thinking, she yanked her arm free from him, feeling the rush of freedom. âThank you. This is exactly what I needed from you,â she said, sarcasm dripping from her words, a protective armour pulled tight around her heart.
He winced, anger and frustration flooding his veins again. She was turning away, and a wild impulse kicked within him, wanting her back, yet all he could muster was a jaded response. âYouâre welcome,â he retorted, crossing his arms defiantly.
âGreat!â She pressed the lift button with a force that echoed the tumult within their hearts.Â
The atmosphere in the elevator was charged with tension, heavy enough to suffocate. He stood still, arms crossed defiantly over his chest, eyes fixed on her as she furiously jabbed at the buttons. Each clang echoed in the confined space, a symphony of frustration. It was self-destructive, he knew thatâhe was playing the villain and hurting her on purpose. But deep down, beneath layers of pent-up anger and regret, a soft voice whispered a desperate hope: let this moment stretch.Â
âFuckingâfuckââ She cursed under her breath, her voice laced with irritation, each word like a knife slicing through the heated silence.
He couldn't help but observe her with a mixture of anger and concern, the way her fist clenched around the metal button, the sharp exhalations that escaped her lips. His heart raced as he internally warred with himself, torn between the urge to reach out and the need to remain aloof.
BANG. BANG. BANG. She slammed her palm against the buttons again, masking her tumultuous emotions under a façade of fury, but he could see right through it.
With a gesture of resolve, he loosened his arms, letting his hand drift delicately toward her wrist. The moment felt electric, the air vibrating with unspoken truths. âStop,â he commanded, his voice gravelly, a plea disguised as an order. âStop hitting the goddamn button. The elevatorâs not going to come any faster.â
âFuck you,â she shot back, rolling her eyes with enough disdain to match the fury swirling around them.Â
He knew he had it comingâthe searing rebuke was hers to give. But the words clawed at him, stirring something dark and volatile within. âI know I deserve that,â he admitted through gritted teeth, trying to suppress the anger simmering beneath his surface. âBut you need to stop acting like a toddler.â
âYou donât know what you deserve,â she retorted, her eyes flashing with indignation. âYou deserve to have someone take a shit in your mouth for how filthy you speak to me.â
A wide grin crept across her face as she delivered her insult, but he felt a flicker of admiration amidst the anger. âYeah? Well maybe you deserve to have somebody take a piss down your throat,â he snapped back, unable to stop the venom slipping from his lips.
âPlease, Iâm not the one who canât make a decision on his own because he's too busy with his thumb up his ass like a good little boy,â she shot right back, the mocking tone hanging in the air like thick smoke.
Her words dug deep into him, striking a nerve he thought he had buried. The truth stung, a bitter taste in his mouth. âI never had any trouble making a decision when it came to you,â he countered fiercely. âI chose Odessa over you every single time!â
âOh brother, say something new. Ya boring,â she scoffed, impervious to the storm clouds brewing in his chest.
Heat ignited within him, a furnace of rage fueled by her calm demeanour. She was infuriatingly nonchalant, dismissing everything he said as if it were little more than a passing breeze. He stepped forward, closing the distance until they were inches apart. âYou're a pathetic, annoying pest,â he snarled. âYou were always buzzing around me, pestering me. YOU always did what i asked, i never asked for your helpâ
âExactly, because youâve never had to work for anything, I always did it for you. Seriously, you couldnât even send back food without me.â she laughed mockingly, but the laughter echoed with an undercurrent of pain.
What she said ricocheted around his mind. It was true, but hearing her articulate it so plainly made him feel exposed, like an open wound. âYeah, maybe Iâve never had to work,â he admitted grudgingly, âbut Iâve never lowered myself to being a doormat. Iâve never let myself love someone so blindly to let them treat me like dirt.â
âSo, you do acknowledge that you are a bad person?â she taunted, a smirk playing across her lips.
His heart lurched at the truth of it, and he flinched. The walls he'd built to protect himself began to crumble. âYeah, Iâm a pretty shitty person,â he snapped. âIs that what you want to hear?â
âItâs exactly what I wanted to hear. You are such a pushover, and you do exactly what people say because you canât think for yourself. Exhibit A!â She gestured between them theatrically, but the underlying pain was evident.
Her words struck like daggers, twisting deep inside him. âA pushover?! Youâre one to talk!â He stepped closer, fists clenching tighter as he confronted her. âYou spent years following me around. You never once had the guts to say no, to stand up for yourself!â
âWell, Iâm standing tall for myself now, and you canât stand it!â she yelled, eyes blazing with defiance. âBecause you cannot live in a world where I am not obsessed with you! Admit it! You want me to still be in love with you!â
A moment of silence engulfed them after her words. It felt as if the air had been sucked out of the hallway as reality hung heavy between them. His chest tightened, and he was left grappling with the realisation that maybe she was right.
He took a step back as laughter filled the silence, but it wasn't joyous; it was strained and bitter. She was right; she was strong now, but somewhere within him, that nagging ache for her was still alive. He clenched his jaw, frustration and yearning warring within him, and as the weight of the moment settled over both of them, he realised there was no escaping the mess they had created together.Â
Drew stood there, his breath catching in his throat, as she faced him defiantly. The tension hung between them like a thick fog, almost suffocating. Her stance was strong, unwavering, and it filled him with a strange mix of emotions. A wave of relief washed over him at the realisation that she wouldnât back down, that she still had the fire heâd once admired. But then she pierced him with her wordsâyou want me to still be in love with youâand it hit him like ice water on his skin, jolting him with its truth.Â
âWhy the hell would I want you to still be in love with me? What would I gain from that, huh?â he snapped, bitterness spilling from his lips as he tried to mask the tightening in his chest.
âI dunno, Joseph. Youâre the one who feels that way,â she shrugged, the movement light and dismissive, her back now turned to him as she turned toward the elevator doors. A part of him wanted to scream, to chase after her, but he stood rooted to the spot, anger and frustration coursing through him.
âI do not!â The words left his mouth harsher than intended, and before he knew what was happening, his hand shot out, grabbing her wrist with a mix of desperation and rage.Â
âI donâtââ he started, but just as quickly as the words began to flow, they rushed to a stop. The air felt thick, and he swallowed hard, grappling with himself in a torrent of conflicting thoughts.
âDonât. What?â she growled, her eyes narrowing, a challenge simmering just beneath the surface, daring him to continue.Â
Every heartbeat thundered in his ears as he fought against the tremor in his voice. âI donât⊠Iââ He was caught in a web of his own making, words choking him, the truth stinging at the back of his mind.
âWhat? Say it. Open that pretty mouth and say it.â She raised her eyebrows, mocking him, her tone dripping with the satisfaction of having backed him into a corner.
He hesitated, that penetrating stare causing him to falter. She was right there, baiting him, and yet the truth felt like a heavy stone lodged in his throat. All he could do was swallow again, helpless, his heart racing so violently he thought it might just burst from the strain. He felt trapped, cornered by her words and his own emotions.
âFuck you,â he retorted, his gaze fierce as it locked onto hers. But even as he said it, the strength behind the words felt flimsy, like a wounded puppy trying to growl.Â
âYeah. Thatâs what I thought,â she tilted her head, her expression one of triumphant satisfaction, as if she held all the strings in this dangerous game they were playing.
Drew felt the weight of her gaze, each heartbeat echoing the truth he was too afraid to voice. She was right. Somewhere deep down, he craved her affection, wanted her to still care. Her indifference cut deeper than any insult, striking at the core of who he was.Â
Drew clenched his jaw, palpable frustration radiating from his rigid frame. His hands curled tightly into fists at his sides, each knuckle white with agitation. How dare she stand there so calmly, so smugly, while he wrestled with the turmoil inside?Â
But there she was, unyielding and unapologetic, challenging his authority without uttering a single word. It set off a fire within him, a mix of anger and an inexplicable allure that drew him toward her. The thought of her defiance sent a surge of adrenaline coursing through him. He needed to regain control.Â
With a sudden movement, he stepped forward, closing the space between them. Before she could react, he wrapped his arm around her waist and yanked her against his chest, trapping her in his hold.Â
"What theâ" she gritted out, shocked and bewildered.
The moment she pressed against him, warmth radiating from her body, it was like a flicker igniting a flame within him. Here she was, against him, familiar yet inexplicably foreign. Beneath all the fighting and the harsh words, this was an undeniable truth: he had missed this physical connection.
He swallowed hard, battling a tumult of emotions, his heart racing in sync with the electric tension. Looking down into her wide eyes, he realised he was losing his composure. In a raw, hoarse whisper, he muttered, âJust shut up.â
âMake me!â she snapped back, her eyes gleaming with challenge.
Drewâs breath hitched at her audacity, the defiance only stoking the fire of his frustration and something deeper, something he had no intention of admitting to himself.Â
The elevator dinged, an unsettling sound that reverberated through the hallway, but the tension between them was far thicker than any surrounding noise. He stood there, fury and desire coiling within him like a tightly wound spring, and before he could even think about what he was doing, he acted on impulse, grabbing her and pulling her harshly against him.Â
âWhat theââ The words barely escaped her lips before he cut her off, crashing his mouth against hers with a fervour that could set the world ablaze. The kiss was anything but tender; it was a maelstrom of frustration, resentment, and longing. His tongue slipped into her mouth, tasting her as though he were drowning in the very essence of her.
She pushed weakly against his chest, her breath hitching as his lips moved fervently, a mix of anger and passion improvising a wild rhythm between them. Did she hate him? Did she even know? It was all an emotional hurricaneâhis heart raced to scary, new peaks while his mind spun backward into memories of every argument, every tense word exchanged that had led to this very moment.
He couldnât restrain the frustrated noise that slipped from his throat as she struggled. With a sudden, voracious need, he shifted his grip, letting go of her chin only to tangle his fingers in her dark hair. He tilted her head back, forcing her to surrender, deepening the kiss fervently while their breaths intertwined, filled with desperation.
Then, as if hours had passed, he pulled away, just long enough to gasp for breath, a fine line of saliva tethering them like a fragile connection that felt both thrilling and terrifying. His gaze locked onto hers, and in that instant, he caught a glimpse of disbelief painted across her features, her lipstick smudged and her wild hair dishevelled, an intoxicating sight that made his heart thunder violently.
She blinked slowly, eyes wide in shock, tracing the remnants of their kiss that lingered on his bottom lip. A full rush of heat surged through himânot of embarrassment but a quickened realisation. He hadnât captured her to silence her; he had kissed her because, for that single moment, he couldn't contain the need anymore. He wanted her, wanted to bridge the chasm of emotion that surrounded them.
âIâŠ,â she stammered, then broke away, forcibly shoving him from her as she stared at her hand, as if it could shield her from the reality of what had just happened. "What the hell was that?"
He watched her scramble, the panic on her face igniting an uncontrollable anger within him. How dare she act as if she could erase this moment? The space between them wobbled with unsaid words and unresolved feelings. His heart wasn't sorry, nor was his body, but his frustration boiled hotter, mingling with the unwanted sensation of regret. He took a step towards her.
âDonâtââ She snapped, pointing at him in a desperate demand to stay back, but it only sent a flash of indignation through his veins. He wasnât about to yield.
âDonât tell me what to do,â he growled, a rough edge sharpening his tone. Each step he took toward her amplified the tension, the space constricting tighter around them like a noose.
âFuck you!â she shot back, anger and disbelief casting sharp daggers in her eyes as she thrust her hands into the air.
He couldnât contain a twisted smile that bled more contempt than amusement. It rippled through him, igniting everything. âNo, you fuck you. Youâre the one acting like you didnât enjoy it too. Donât pretend you have any moral high ground here!âÂ
âGod! Youâre so fucking delusional!â Her words hung between them, heavy with anger and frustration, every syllable echoing an undeniable truth that tied together all that they had become.
They were caught in an unyielding storm, each determined to stand their ground, knowing that the truth lay just beneath the surface, waiting to erupt.
The air between them crackled with electricity, thick and oppressive, as he stood there, eyes blazing with an intensity that hung heavy in the small space surrounding them. The lingering taste of their kiss was the last remnant of what had just transpired, yet here they were, locked in a battle of words that mirrored their entwined feelings.Â
âYouâre delusional if youâre trying to tell me that you didnât just forget every single thing for a moment when I kissed you,â he snapped, his heart pounding in a rhythm that echoed the truth he was reluctant to face. He was painfully aware of her reactionânot just in her eyes, wide with disbelief, but how her body had yielded to his just moments before. She had enjoyed it, just as much as he had.
âYouââ Her voice trembled with a furious indignation that only seemed to stoke the flames fanning within him. âYouâGOD!â The words rushed from her lips in an exasperated gasp.
He revelled in the way confusion painted her features, watching as she grappled for words through the haze of frustration. It was a twisted satisfaction he couldnât deny; she had become a puzzle he had long wished to solve, and he felt utterly triumphant at having thrown her off balance.
âGodâyou know why I would never date you!?â Her finger jabbed in the air, punctuating her rhetorical question like a knife.
âWhy?â He shot back, a scoff escaping him, his fists coiling into tight balls at his sides. He could already predict her answer, but he craved to hear her voice it. This was the moment he had yearned forâher cornered, finally stripped of her defences, with nowhere to run.
âBecause YOU. DRIVE ME. NUTS. STARKEY!â she screamed, her fury palpable, as her nose nearly brushed against his.Â
âAnd youââ he retorted with ferocity, âdrive me nuts! You make me crazier than anyone else in this entire world! You, with your big eyes and stupid dark hair and your dumb laugh and goddamn stupid smile! You drive me insane, Y/N, and you have for years!âÂ
The words were tumbling out of him, each one ratcheting up the tension between them, an unfiltered outburst of pent-up emotion.Â
âYeah?! Well it sure sounds like youâre obsessed with me!â she yelled back, fire blazing behind her eyes, daring him to deny it.
âI am obsessed with you!â he shot back, his voice going an octave higher, the veil of carefully guarded emotions finally torn away. âIâm obsessed with the fact that you followed me around for years and I never realised that you were in love with me! And now that I do know, I canât do anything about it because youâve finally moved on!â
The words hung in the air like an ominous cloud, and as they slipped from his mouth, he felt a moment of disorientation, stumbling as her expression shifted from anger to pure disbelief.Â
âWhat?!â she managed to utter, her eyes wide, searching his face for any sign that this was a cruel joke.Â
He abruptly stopped shouting, taking a step back, a bewildered silence enveloping them. He hadnât intended to let that slip, hadnât meant to lay bare the vulnerability buried deep inside of him. But there it was, floating between them and demanding acknowledgement.
âYou heard me,â he said, voice low and rough, the weight of his confession settling over them like a heavy cloak.Â
Y/Nâs incredulous look bore into him, a tumult of emotions swirling in her gazeâshock, anger, realisation, and perhaps something more unabashedly raw. It was all there, and for the first time, he could see the layers of misunderstanding beginning to peel away. She opened her mouth to respond, but no words came, leaving them suspended in that moment, the world outside forgotten, as the truth hung like a thread dangling waiting to be pulled taut.
âNo. No, I donât think so.âÂ
Her voice was steady, defiant, as she crossed her arms, every muscle in her body radiating cold rejection. He could feel her glare cut through the air between them like a knife, sharp and unyielding.
He clenched his jaw, grappling with the pounding in his chest as he took a step closer, invading her space. âYes, you did,â he shot back, his voice sharp and strained. âYou heard me; you just donât want to admit it.â
âI did hear you. I also know that youâre a big fat liar, and I fucking hate you,â she snapped, the words biting and raw, echoing with her fury.
âIâm a liar?â His voice lifted incredulously, eyes narrowing in disbelief. âYou think Iâm lying when I say that Iâm obsessed with you? That you drive me nuts? Iâm being honestâfor the first goddamn time in my life!â
âWell, I donât believe you! Because youâre a liar.â Her voice quaked, and she shrugged as if her disdain could physically push him away. âAnd you are the worst kind of liar. Because your lies sound so much like the truth that itâs impossible for me to tell the difference.â
Her words struck deep, and for a moment, silence loomed between them. He felt his chest heave under the weight of her accusationâshe had hit too close to home. She was right: he was good at weaving deception into convictions so convincing they could easily ensnare even the sharpest minds. But with her, that manipulation folded under the pressure of something more profound and real, something he couldnât fabricate.
âIâm not lying,â he managed to breathe, his voice a rough whisper, each syllable laced with urgency.
âI. Donât. Fucking. Believe. You.â She seethed, her nose nearly brushing against his, every word a challenge, a proclamation laced with the tumult between them.
He could feel the intensity of her gaze, the fire and disbelief swirling in her eyes, leaving no room for doubt. She was so close that every detail of herâevery curve, every quirkâwas amplified in his vision, and with the intoxicating scent of her skin flooding his senses, he fought a desperate urge gnawing at him.
And yet, beneath the fury and resentment, something deeper shimmered in her gazeâa flicker of vulnerability that tugged at his heart. Goddamnit, he wanted her more than he'd ever allowed himself to admit.
âGod, look at you,â he muttered, his eyes sweeping across her face, drinking in every nuance of her expression, grappling with how close they were. She was a force of nature, fierce and untamed, and at that moment, he couldnât take it anymore.
The world around them faded into oblivion; all that remained was the air swelling between them, thick with unresolved tension. He took another step forward, closing the space between them completely, surrendering to the magnetic pull that drew him to her.
As she inhaled deeply, he felt it. The moment hung suspended in time as she leaned in, eyes fluttering shut, and that was itâhe broke. All restraint slipped through his fingers like loose sand. He was done with the self-imposed barriers, the hesitant games.
He cupped her face in his hands, capturing her mouth in a fierce, passionate kiss that demanded response. It was desperate and needy, an unguarded collision of emotions that echoed the storm brewing in his soul.
Her reaction was instantâa gasp escaping into his lips as her hands clenched tightly against his dress shirt, caught in the whirlwind of conflicting feelings. Part of her wanted to push him away, to reject everything she feltâand yet, another part was drawn to him, willing to pull him closer, to drown in this moment that teetered between love and hatred.
They were no longer debating the lies; instead, they were entwined in something he had tried to keep buried for far too long. With every push and pull, every heated breath, the truth that had been hiding in the shadows came rushing forth, demanding to be acknowledged. And now, there was no turning back.
He groaned low in his throat, the sound muffled against her lips as she gasped. But he didnât pull away. No, instead, he pushed himself against her, feeling the heat radiating off her body. His hand slid into her hair, tugging gently but insistently, as if to remind her how long he had been waiting for this moment, how hungry he wasâfor her.
Months of pent-up desire unleashed in a feverish kiss, rough and unapologetic. He plunged his tongue into her mouth, deep and urgent, while his other hand slipped beneath the neck of her dress, skimming over the bare skin of her shoulder.
She reluctantly sighed into his lips, pouring out all the anger and hurt that had accumulated over the months. She grasped his jaw, tilting his head as she took control, kissing him back with a fervour that surprised even herself.
He groaned again, the sound rising from deep within him, and closed his eyes, wanting nothing more than to savour this moment. Finally having her in his arms ignited a fire he thought he had long extinguished. But even in this bliss, he wouldnât concede dominance so easily; he had been waiting too long for this.Â
His hand slid from her cheek down to her throat, holding her in place, arching her neck back slightly, a silent command for her to surrender to him.Â
Her lips parted in pleasure beneath the sweet pressure of his grip on her neck.
He seized the opportunity, pushing deeper with his tongue, pulling her flush against him, their bodies merging. The heat between them blazed, and he let out an involuntary growl at how wild this felt, how desperately he craved her.Â
âDrewââ She panted against his mouth, feeling dizzy with hunger and want, squeezing his hand around her throat lightly, as if daring him to tighten his hold even more. She had forgotten the world outside, the blaring music from the after-party just a few feet away. All that existed was him and this intoxicating moment.
Her moan was a sirenâs call, so deliciously erotic it stole his breath. He felt his fingers grip her throat tighter, and when he opened his eyes slightly, he registered the reality where they still stood in the hallway. The thought of someone witnessing their gasps and murmurs sent a thrill mixed with a touch of anxiety coursing through him.
He wanted her with an urgency that was bordering on madness, but this wasnât the place. Reluctantly, he pulled back, panting heavily as he spoke, his voice growling with need. âCome to my room.â
Dazed, she blinked lazily up at him, confusion flitting through her. âWhat?âÂ
The whisper fell from her lips as her hand tangled further in his tousled hair, an instinctual plea for him to come closer again, to kiss her.
He saw the need in her gaze, the way her hand curled through his hair, and it almost broke him. Almost. But he fought the urge, forcing himself to maintain some semblance of composure. His hand slipped from her throat, a wary truceâor perhaps a promise of what was to come.
âMy room,â he repeated, his voice deep and almost primal, as he nodded towards the elevator down the hall. âCome with me.â
She closed my eyes, surrendering to the pull of his voice and the electricity crackling between them, letting him guide her.
In that instant, he released her, intertwining his fingers with hers, a tangible connection that anchored them both. Desire thrummed in his veins as he tugged her toward the elevator, every instinct screaming for him to kiss her again, to press her against the wall and lose himself in her. But he forced himself to stay calm, though his heart raced in anticipation, each beat echoing with the promise of what awaited in his room.
The elevator doors opened with a soft ding, and together they stepped inside, the cramped space encasing them like a cocoon of unfiltered tension. The world outside was a distant murmurâone filled with laughter, music, and vibrant lifeâbut here, it was just them and the palpable hunger that hung in the air, waiting to be unleashed.
The moment the elevator doors slid closed, a wave of urgency surged between them. He backed her up against the back wall, his firm body pinning her in place, his hand resting powerfully beside her head. With every breath, he could feel the space between them charged, electric.
His chest heaved with anticipation as his eyes traced her features, roaming from her flushed lips to the vulnerable skin of her neck, and lower, where the tantalising edge of her backless dress teased his senses.Â
He couldnât wait anymore.
Y/N sighed into his lips, feeling the heat of his body pressing into her as her hands explored the tantalising contours of his shoulders, feeling the rigid muscles beneath his suit as she hopelessly leaned into him. Y/Nâs backless dress shifted as he pulled her closer, their bodies colliding in a passionate urgency.
A low growl rumbled in his throat with every stroke of her hands over his back, and he kissed her harder, capturing her mouth in a possessive and desperately needy embrace. When she sighed against him, letting her fingers trail up over his stomach, something inside him snapped, igniting a wild hunger. His hands began to roam her back, fingers sliding beneath the fabric of her dress, caressing the skin of her bare back with a fervour that bordered on madness.
Y/N arched into him, surrendering completely as she kissed him as sloppily and fervently as sheâd always wanted to. The taste of himâheady, intoxicatingâconsumed her completely.
His hand that had rested against the wall slipped down to grip her waist, pulling her flush against him once more. He could feel the heat of her body through their clothes, a tantalising friction that sent a rush of desire coursing through him. He ground against her as his tongue thrust roughly into her mouth, seeking something deeper, something primal. His other hand slid lower, finding her thigh, where he squeezed her delectable, soft skin.
Y/N whimpered into his lips, overwhelmed by the craving that surged through her, and when the elevator door opened, she found herself instinctively walking him backward out of the lift.
Emerging from the elevator, he allowed her to walk him backward, their bodies still locked together. He could feel her every inch pressed against him, the warmth of her skin igniting a fire within. His lips detoured from her mouth, moving downwards, kissing her jaw, then to the tantalising curve of her neck, where he found the rushing rhythm of her pulse and suckled on it hungrily.
âRoomâkeyâDrewâkeyââ Y/N panted desperately, tilting her head back to give him more access to her skin, her body aching for his touch.
Frustration mingled with a raw need, and he fumbled to retrieve his key from his pocket while kissing his way down her throat, his teeth scraping over the sensitive skin where her heartbeat raced. âFuck, I want you so bad,â he growled hoarsely, his voice low and rough with desire. He finally managed to extract the key card but was so lost in the moment that he nearly missed the slot.
She growled in frustration at his clumsiness, seizing the key card from him and swiping it swiftly, determined to get inside.
When the door swung open and they tumbled through, he fell on top of her, his entire body covering her, pressing her into the cool floor. With the weight of his desire and the overwhelming passion igniting every cell in his body, he couldnât take it any longer.
He pressed his lips against hers, and the world around them faded into oblivion. Just the two of them remained in that intoxicating moment, tangled together in the depths of their longingâan insatiable need that demanded to be fulfilled.
Under the dim glow of the evening light, the air between them crackled with palpable tension, the world outside forgotten. It was a moment suspended in time, one where anything seemed possible and every heartbeat echoed the impending explosion of desire.Â
Drew's hands found the hem of Y/N's dress, a seemingly innocent movement that ignited a wildfire of longing within him. He tugged the fabric upwards, inch by tantalising inch, until it glided up her thighs, exposing the delicate lace of her underwear pressed against him. The warmth radiating from their bodies created a magnetic pull, drawing him closer as he pressed against her, his body a whisper away from hers.
âGod, you feel so good, Y/N,â he breathed, the words heavy with an intoxicating mix of desperation and longing. His lips found the delicate skin of her neck, where her pulse raced beneath his touch, drawing him in like a moth to a flame.
The heat of the moment surged through her, a moan escaping her lips. âDrewâŠâ It was both a plea and an exclamation, a desperate urge to bridge the chasm of anticipation left between them. Her hips rolled upward, seeking the friction only he could provide, her surrender evident as her head fell back against the plush carpet.
Drew focused on the intoxicating connection, each thrust of his hips eliciting primal instincts, sending waves of pleasure rippling through them both. His breath quickened, eyes darkening as he nibbled at her neck, wanting to lose himself in her, wanting her completely. âYouâre driving me crazy,â he growled, his voice a low rumble as he lavished her with the affection of his lips.
Yet, amidst the fervour, a nagging voice echoed in her mind: Stop wasting time. With a spark of determination, she pushed his blazer off his shoulders, the fabric fluttering to the floor, her fingers fumbled in haste raging against the barrier separating them. âI want to feel you,â she panted, urgency edging her voice.
Drewâs response was a throaty groan, a sound that vibrated through the air between them. His fingers tightened around her thighs, igniting the fire that blazed within him. But he knew they were running out of time. He couldnât contain himself any longer. With a swift movement, he rose to his knees, fingers finding the buttons on his dress shirt. Each button opened like a promise, revealing skin beneath, of a body yearning to be touched.
Her eyes glimmered with hunger, like a predator poised to pounce. She propped herself on her elbows, watching him almost intently, her lips parted as she savoured the sight of him shedding the fabric that separated them.Â
He swallowed hard, a wave of desire crashing over him at the sight of her back, bare and inviting. The way she teased himâthe straps of the dress slipping down her shouldersâalmost sent him spiralling into madness. âTake your dress off,â his voice was rough, almost primal, drunk on the gift she presented.Â
With a lazy smile, she complied, the movement slow and deliberate; it was a seduction in itself. She revealed her back, gloriously exposed, her every move pulling him deeper into a void of yearning. His eyes traced every contour of her body, captivated by the graceful arch of her back, the gentle way her shoulders shifted, the enticing curve of her waist.
The sight of her rising onto her knees was enough to send his mind racing, raw desire coiling in his stomach. Drewâs breath hitched as he moved instinctively to the button of his slacks, his heart pounding like a war drum.Â
Y/N lowered her face to the carpet, her back arched enticingly, a vision of perfect temptation. The growl that formed in his chest was primal, a manifestation of his desire. He could no longer resist; the intensity of the moment had taken on a life of its own.
As he lowered himself beside her, Drewâs hands found her waist, pulling her closer, the weight of their need threatening to consume them both. Time ceased to exist as they fell into each otherâs orbit, two bodies uniting in a symphony of passion that awaited a crescendo.
                                               âTIME SKIPâ
In the dim light of the hotel room, a cocoon of warmth enveloped Drew and Y/N on the floor, sheets tangled around their limbs, staving off the chill of reality just outside their embrace. The air was thick with remnants of their shared moments, tangled breaths and whispered confessions hanging like incense in the air, suffusing the space with a heady sense of intimacy.
Drew surrendered to the blissful stillness, his arms cradling her against his chest, feeling the rhythmic beat of his heart sync with the soft cadence of her breathing. With his cheek resting atop her head, he inhaled deeply, intoxicated by the scent of her hair, a mixture of shampoo and something uniquely hers.
Y/N peppered kisses across his bare chest, her hair spilling like silk over him, enchanting him with every gentle touch. She was ethereal, a living embodiment of the very dreams he hadnât dared to voice. He sighed softly, letting her warmth seep into his skin, a balm for the unresolved aches of his past. His fingers moved instinctively, tracing the delicate curvature of her waist, basking in the softness of her body pressed against his.
âMm, hey,â he muttered, the tender sound barely escaping his lips as he caressed her skin.
âHey yourself,â she whispered back, teasingly nibbling at his jaw, her playful gesture igniting a low groan from deep within him. He tilted his head, granting her more space, surrendering to the wave of indulgent languor that washed over him.
âMm, I want a cigarette,â he murmured quietly, a simple desire that hung in the air like the sweet scent of their bliss.
Y/N smiled, her lips brushing his once more, igniting a fire within him that begged for more. âWe can do that,â she promised sweetly, before asking, âWhereâs your pack?â
With an easy confidence, he leaned forward, punctuating the moment with a nuzzle against her neck, his breath fanning against her skin as he replied, âBathroom, on the counter. Could you get it for me?â
âOkay,â she mumbled against his lips, a teasing sparkle in her eyes as she rose, the sheet slipping down her form like a whisper. He watched her walk away, captivated by the graceful sway of her hips, the way the soft glow outlined her silhouette.Â
As she padded barefoot to the bathroom, Drew lingered for a moment, soaking in the serenity that followed their passion. He replayed their wild entanglement in his mind, each moment infused with unspoken words and forbidden desires. A calm settled over him that he hadn't felt in months, a rare treasure amidst the tumult of his life.
When Y/N returned, the creaking floorboards announcing her presence, Drew opened his eyes, leaning back on his palms, a smile spreading across his lips when he saw her. She was radiant, like sunlight filtering through clouds, the pack of cigarettes in one hand and a lighter in the other.
She lit one for him, and as he took the first deep drag, inhaling the smoky tendrils into his lungs, he let his gaze roam freely over her. The glow of the room found its way to her skin, illuminating the beauty before him. âIâm obsessed with youâ he recalled almost wistfully, the admission coursing through his thoughts.
Y/N took his cigarette from between his lips, her soft laughter cascading through the space as she took a drag herself, her hair framing her face like a halo. The act alone sent a surge of raw need through himâshe exuded an almost magnetic charm that was impossible to resist.
âWhat?â Y/N asked with a small smile.
âJust looking at you,â he muttered, awash in a blend of admiration and possessiveness.
âJust looking?â she teased, creeping up towards him, her delicate hand resting on his thigh as her lips approached his, igniting a fire that burned hotter with each passing second.
That playful banter shifted the atmosphere, the air thick with tension as Drew let out a breathless laugh, his heart racing. âThereâs a lot more I can do than just look,â he responded, seriousness edging into his voice.
âHmm,â she hummed, capturing his lips for a fleeting moment before playfully withdrawing. He yearned for her closeness, his hands instinctively seeking her, pulling her back into his embrace as their kisses deepened.Â
Amid the heat, a sudden wave of vulnerability washed over him. âStay tonight. Please,â he whispered into the air, each word laced with desperation.
âI canât,â she confessed, a flicker of pain betraying her steady voice as she met his gaze. âThis was fun. But it canât happen again.â
He felt the rush of hurt flood through him, the weight of her words like a physical blow. âWhy?â he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
âBecause we hate each other. It wouldnât work between us. And besidesâwhat about Odessa?â she explained, her voice heavy with reluctance.
The tension in the room was nearly palpable, a heavy weight that hung between them like a dark cloud. Drew's breath caught in his throat as he felt Y/N shift slightly, searching for that emotional distance that had once divided them, yet now felt as fragile as gossamer.Â
âI donât hate you,â he said softly, the words sounding almost foreign in his mouth as his hand reached out, fingers brushing against her waist. It was an instinctual move, one that tethered her back to him, if only for a moment.Â
But as Y/N uttered Odessaâs name, he felt himself recoil slightly even without moving away. The mention of the woman he was supposed to love felt like a physical blow, and he turned his gaze from her to the ceiling, trying to avoid the piercing look in her eyes that held both hurt and clarity.Â
âThings have been rocky between me and Odessa for a while now⊠I donât know if weâll last,â he confessed, the confession landing heavily in the silence that stretched between them.Â
âYeahâI donât hate you either. But I donât like you either, Drew. You really hurt me. I canât forget that. The things you saidâjust tonight was a weakness,â she whispered, the vulnerability in her voice snaking straight to his heart.Â
Her words cut deep, and he could feel the damning truth within them. He had wound himself up so tightly that all it seemed to take was one moment of weaknessâa mere slip in the gears of his carefully constructed façadeâand he had let her in. He had wanted to be strong, to deny the magnetic pull between them, but here they were, two people caught in the wreckage of their past.Â
âI know,â he muttered, his fingers instinctively tightening around her waist. He didn't want to let her go; he couldn't face the idea of her slipping away again, not after everything they had just shared. He still couldnât comprehend how he had lost control so completely, how the moment had come to thisâshe had agreed to be with him, had agreed to bare herself to him, and all the while, tangled up in the complications of their history.
âJust stay tonight,â he pleaded, a hint of desperation lacing his voice, breaking the silence between them. The air in the room felt thick, suffocating, pulling at his very chest as he attempted to keep her close. He was all too aware of how pathetic he sounded, how desperately he needed her to choose him even for an evening, but he couldnât help himself.Â
âI canât. If I stay, weâll have sex again. What if Odessa comes up here after the party is over?â she explained softly, her voice steady even as it shattered his already-fragile composure. Her logic was undeniable, and it sent a ripple of impatience through him.Â
Drewâs eyes closed, and he let out a frustrated groan, teeth grinding against the discomfort clawing at him. He knew she was rightâshe was being rational, logical, and he was being reckless. But the thought of losing her company, of letting this moment slip through his fingers, made him feel utterly desperate.Â
âJust a little while longer then. Come here,â he muttered, yanking her back down towards him. He crushed his lips against hers, the kiss born from longing and need rather than passion in that moment. It was all he could think about, a primal need to feel her against him again, to dissipate the agony of reality that was threatening to pull them apart once more.Â
As their mouths met, he felt the world fade away, the blinding light of clarity drowned in a haze of longing. The taste of her lips rekindled the fire they had fanned for too long in the shadowsâa fire he feared would only leave devastation in its wake. But for now, he didnât care. The moment enveloped them, and all that mattered was the intoxicating warmth of Y/N, wrapped in the sheets like the complex threads of their tangled past.
Yet even as they lost themselves in each other, a creeping sense of dread clawed at the edges of Drew's mindâthe knowledge that when the dawn broke, the ghosts of their mistakes would begin to hover in the light once again.
The tension in the air was thick and electric as she kissed him back, her lips moving languidly against his, each connection igniting a deeper hunger within him. The way her hands tugged at his roots sent shivers down his spine, awakening every nerve in his body. Drew groaned into her mouth, lost in the moment, returning each of her tender kisses with a mix of desperation and fervour, savouring every stolen second.
But as the kiss deepened, reality began to intrude upon their blissful refuge. Reluctantly, he pulled away, his breath coming in ragged gasps, eyes searching hers for an answer he feared he already knew. âWhy? Why does it have to be a one-time thing? Why canât we keep doing this?â He felt a pang of urgency clawing at his chest, a mix of longing and confusion.
âBecause thatâs called an affair,â she murmured softly, her voice a mix of teasing and pain, as her lips brushed against his ear, trailing down to suck gently on his earlobe, igniting a fire within him.
Drewâs eyes fluttered shut, overwhelmed by the sensations, the sound of her words echoing painfully in his mind. âI donât care,â he mumbled, desperation lacing his tone. It was true. At that moment, he didnât care about the consequences, the messy entanglements of their lives. All he could think about was her, the warmth of her body against his, the taste of her lingering on his lips.
But there was a faint voice in the background, warning him to be cautious, to think clearly. âYouâre not thinking straight,â she reminded him, her hands trailing down his shoulders, instilling both comfort and chaos within him.
His heart raced as he replied again, more insistent this time, âI donât care.â Her gentle bite on his bottom lip sent a wave of need crashing over him, blurring the lines of right and wrong even further. It was intoxicating. The desire for her felt like a drug coursing through his veins, urging him to abandon reason.
He looked into her eyes, his breath suddenly catching in his throat, his voice dropping to a near whisper filled with longing. âPlease, Y/N. Just stay. No sex. I just want you.â The plea hung in the air, heavy and desperation-laden. He knew it sounded foolish, like a man clinging to the edge of a cliff, but he didnât care.Â
âThatâs a lie,â she replied, shaking her head, the softness in her gaze contrasting sharply with the reality of the situation. Her fingers danced along his skin, leaving trails of warmth and desire but also doubt, reminding him of the fragile state of their connection.
Drewâs heart sank at her words. He wanted to argue, to proclaim the depth of what he felt, to dismiss the methods of logic and reason that had brought them to this moment, but all he could do was stare into her eyes and wonder if the yearning could bridge the chasm between them.Â
Drew gazed deeply into her eyes, his heart racing as he spoke, âItâs not,â he insisted, desperation lacing his voice as her hands found their way to his shouldersâsoft but steady, grounding him. âI justâ I just want to hold you. I want to keep kissing you, Iââ His breath hitched, words tumbling from his lips, âPlease donât go. I donât want to go back to being at each otherâs throats.âÂ
Y/N faltered, surrendering to the weight of his plea, a sigh escaping her lips as she sunk back onto his thighs. The air between them thickened, a mixture of passion and pain, electric and heartbreaking.Â
âThen what do you want, Drew?â she asked softly, her voice a melange of hope and hesitation.
His heart thundered as he observed her, every detail of her etched in his mindâthe way her hair fell slightly to one side, the way her lips curved when she spoke, the flicker of vulnerability in her eyes. âI want to keep doing this. I want to keep kissing you and holding you and touching you,â he confessed, the emotions spilling from him in raw waves. âI want to be able to talk to you again without wanting to strangle you.âÂ
She broke their gaze, her thoughts swirling, and Drew could sense her resolve faltering. âThatâs just who we are, Drew. We drive each other insane,â she reminded him, her voice soft yet firm, like a whisper meant to break through the tension, but it only deepened his urgency.
He shook his head, a frantic determination igniting within him. âWe donât have to be,â he argued, as if his words could alter reality, his eyes searching hers. âWe canâwe can learn to get along. Donât you remember how good we used to be? You were my best friend.âÂ
A wistful smile flitted across her lips at the memory, a fleeting moment that warmed him, a brief balm against their turbulent history. âYeah. We were,â she admitted, her gaze softening, but doubt still lingered in the air, lingering like an unresolved note in a symphony.
Encouraged by that spark of nostalgia, Drew leaned into it, allowing a small, sad smile to graze his features. âWe can be again,â he murmured, conviction lacing his words as he slowly moved his hand to her thigh, a gentle gesture imbued with longing.
But even as he made that bold move, the shadows of their past loomed large, whispering doubts and insecurities. Would they really be able to navigate their twisted history filled with resentment, lost moments, and tangled feelings? His hand rested thereâ a silent plea for not only closeness but for a chance at something more, something that felt so close within reach yet impossibly far away.Â
And in that dimly lit room, the fabric of their connection was fragile, stretched between the weight of what had been and the hope of what could be. Drew held his breath, feeling the fine edge of desperation, longing for her to take a leap with him into the uncertain darkness, to trust him once more, and to break free from the cycle of anger that had defined them for far too long.Â
He could feel her hesitation, the weighing of his words against the chasm of their shared history, and he silently begged her to understand. To take that leap with him. Because he couldnât imagine a world where she walked away, where the possibility of themâhowever messy, however complicatedâwas abandoned in the silence of the night.
The mood in the room was heavy, each heartbeat echoing like a distant drum, underscoring the distance left unspoken between them. He could feel the warmth of her body so close to his, yet the chasm between their hearts was the most frigid void he had ever faced. Drew could sense it in her eyesâthe hurt, the betrayalâbut it was the fire of that pain that seared through him. He needed to say something, anything, to bridge the gap that had formed since the moment he had pushed her away.
The room was thick with tension, the kind that coiled like a spring, ready to snap. Drewâs heart raced as he gazed into her eyes, overwhelmed by the whirlwind of emotions cascading between them.Â
âIt wonât be the same though,â she began, her voice a pained whisper, trembling with the weight of the memories. âYou really hurt me when you rejected me so harshly, Drew. And you did it for Odessa.â With each word, the stinging in her eyes threatened to spill over, but she held back her tears, resolute.
âI know. God, I know,â he responded, his voice cracking like the fragile state of their connection. It was agony, watching pain flicker across her face, knowing he was the architect of her hurt. The chasm he'd created yawned before him, and he didn't know how to bridge it. Slowly, his hand began to inch up her thigh, desperate to soothe her anguish, and to heal the rift that had torn them apart.
âYou never apologised,â she reminded him softly, her gaze unwavering.
âIâm apologising now,â he murmured back, his voice deepening with sincerity as he stared at her, his hand pausing at the crescent of her thigh. He swallowed hard, continuing, âYou have no idea how long Iâve regretted that day. How many times Iâve replayed it in my mind and wished Iâd handled it differently.â
âMmm,â she nodded, urging him silently to continue, and their chemistry ignited once more. She ground against his hand, igniting a fire within him that was both thrilling and painful.Â
âI was an idiot,â he confessed, shaking his head shamefully as he looked deep into her eyes. âI regretted the moment I said no. God, I just wanted so badly to take it all back.âÂ
âTell me more,â she murmured, sinking down on him, her body pressing against him as she gripped his shoulders tightly.
He couldnât help the groan that escaped him; it came both from his yearning for her and the heartache of their past. âI should have said yes,â he admitted, a pained resignation lacing his words. âI shouldnât have pushed you away when youâre all I wanted to pull closer.â
âMore,â she encouraged him, moving her hips with an intoxicating rhythm that nearly stole his breath.
âAnd I shouldnât have been a dick,â he replied, gasping for air as she ground against him. âI shouldnât have saidâoh, God, Y/Nââ His voice faltered, catching in his throat as the sheer force of his desire nearly overwhelmed him.
âAnd?â she teased, excitement dancing in her gaze as it egged him on.
âAnd I should have been gentler,â he continued, each word a confession steeped in longing. âI should have made it clear that it wasnât because I didnât want you. I wanted you so bad. God, Y/N, I wanted you so bad.âÂ
âMore, Drew. Tell me,â she whispered, her breath hot against him as she pushed him to the brink.
âAndââ he strained, thoughts dissipating with every movement. âI-I never meant to make you feel like I didnât want you. I did. God, I did.âÂ
His hand crept further up her thigh, coaxing her to keep the intoxicating rhythm alive.
âGo on,â she urged, her lips grazing his as her pace quickened.
âAndâand God, I hate myself for making you feel bad, for making you doubt yourself, forââ He let out a deep groan, his mind consumed with the heat of the moment. âOh God, Y/Nââ
âThere you go, babyâgo onââ she coaxed, tugging on his hair to pull him closer.
âAnd Iâoh God, I-I never wanted you to think I didnâtâoh God,â he stuttered, the vulnerability in his voice nearly bringing him to his knees. The mixture of pleasure and regret sent him spiralling, his heart laid bare before her. âI love you.âÂ
The relief of those words hung in the air, a balm soothing the wounds of their shared history. It was exactly what she wanted to hear, and as he spoke, she doubled down on her movements, a sly grin spreading across her face.
His moans grew louder, the stakes rising as she encouraged him further. âI love you so much,â he gasped, his body trembling from their fervent exchange, âIâve never stopped loving you.â
With a triumphant grin still dancing on her lips, she pushed him to his limits, the palpable connection sparking a resolve deeper than either had anticipated. Their hearts, once fractured, now beat in sync, reverberating through the electric air, the crescendo of emotions reaching a fever pitch. The path ahead was uncertain, but in this fiery moment, they were undeniably, irrevocably bound.
The air between them was electric, charged with a tension that had festered for months, and finally, words long buried broke the surface. As she rewarded his truth with renewed vigour, Drew felt a wave of relief wash over him, mingling beautifully with the heady pleasure she was provoking. âThere you goâgood boyââ she murmured, and he could do nothing but surrender to the moment.
Their bodies moved together like a well-practised dance, each thrust speaking the words unsaid for too long. Drew's voice was choked with desperation when he declared, âI love you so much.â Each word was an acknowledgment of the yearning he'd harboured deep within, a confession that he had feared would never escape his lips.
Underneath the rush of emotions, she rewarded him, her own movements quickening, each thrust drawing him closer to the precipice. He was a man unravelling at the seams. âIâve never stopped loving you,â he gasped, tears pricking at the corners of his eyes, a mix of relief and raw vulnerability dancing within him.
âShhh,â she commanded gently, sensing how close he was. Drewâs shuddering breaths betrayed him; the waves of bliss coursing through his body were almost too much to bear. Yet he didn't want it to stop. Not now. Not ever. The anchors of their past had finally loosened, and a euphoric freedom enveloped him as he clutched her tighter.
âYou love me?â she asked, her voice a gentle whisper that pierced through the haze clouding his mind.Â
âYeah, I love you,â he breathed, the admission anchoring him in this moment, grounding him with a stability he had craved for so long.
But then came her words, softly spoken yet cutting deeper than the sharpest blade. âI donât love youââ
Those words sliced through him, a cruel reminder of what had been lost, and instinct pulled him closer, burying his face into her neck, seeking solace in her warmth. âI know,â he murmured, the acceptance hitting his chest like a lead weight.
Yet amid the storm of disappointment, a glimmer of hope flickered through their haze. âBut I can try to remember how,â she said, a tentative smile breaking through her vulnerability, a hesitant light in the midst of their dark past.
His grip on her tightened, fingers instinctively curling around her waist, a lifeline in turbulent waters. Hopelessness waged a war with yearning as he struggled to articulate his emotions, each breath a battle against despair. âYou want to try?â His voice trembled, heavy with an almost childlike hope.
The silence hung in the air, a fragile bubble filled with every unvoiced confession and lost promise. In that moment, both of them understood: love was a journey, not a destination, and they stood on the precipice of a new beginning, teetering between fear and the desperate desire to dive in together.
âYeah, baby. But only after you break up with Odessa,â she whispered, her voice teasing yet serious. Her movements were deliberate, pulling him closer even as the gulf between them threatened to drown them both.
His breath hitched, and he nodded, his frustration mingling with a desperate need. âIâllâIâll break up with her,â he stammered, urgency lacing his words. Each grind of her hips sent a shockwave through him, igniting desires he thought were buried, stifling the guilt wrapped around his heart. âIâll break up with her tonight if you want. Justââ He groaned, surrendering to the passion between them, his arms tightening around her, their connection swirling into something electric.
âJust what, baby?â she cooed, her nails scraping lightly down his cheek, each touch sending shivers down his spine.
The question lingered in the air, but he was powerless to articulate an answer; the fire within him flared too bright, too hot to extinguish. The ache for her drowned out all rational thought. âJustâkeep moving like that,â he breathed, surrendering to the glorious indulgence of their moment.
Her laughter was a melody that wrapped around him, intertwining with his desires as she shifted into a slow, deliberate grind. âLike that?â she asked seductively, every syllable brushing against his senses.
He moaned, louder this time, each sound a testament to his surrender. âJust like that,â he mumbled against her neck, his world narrowing down to the sensations coursing through him. The pleasure built like a tidal wave, crashing against any remnants of restraint.
As he lay there, body quaking from the previous release, he blinked through the haze of bliss, staring up at the ceiling as though it held the answers he sought. Reality faded into oblivion; nothing mattered but her and the warmth that enveloped them. With deft fingers, he traced her thighs, slowing, savouring the contact, each caress igniting embers that flickered to life all over again.
When she leaned down to kiss him, it was a soft, sweet connection, yet filled with promise. His hand found her cheek, a magnetic pull that kept her close, and he ignited her senses as he explored her mouth, lingering in the moment and letting the world outside slip away.
âGo break up with her. Iâll be waiting,â she said, slipping from him and into the shower, her voice echoing in his mind. The door clicked shut, and just like that, a sense of urgency surged within him.
His heart raced as he gulped down a breath, excitement colliding with a stark terror that gripped him. He scrambled off the bed, gathering the clothes strewn across the floor like remnants of a life he was ready to leave behind. Each piece felt like a chain shackling him to a life he no longer wanted.
He dressed quickly, fingers trembling as his mind ran a mile a minute. In the mirror, he paused, staring at his reflection. A part of him whispered to retreat, to forget this moment and its consequences. But he couldnât. Not now. He felt the weight of possibility, felt the shift in his heart, a call to step into the unknown.
Taking a deep breath, he steeled himself. This was it. He would break free tonight; he would reclaim what was his. He opened the door, crossing the threshold into the unknown, determination igniting within him as he made his way toward the end of one chapter and the beginning of another.
The door creaked open, revealing Odessa, draped in a robe that did little to shield the tension hanging between them. Her eyes narrowed, suspicion glinting in their depths.
âDrew, where the hell have youââ
He didnât give her room to finish, his voice cutting through the air like a knife. âI need to talk to you. Can I come in?â
There was a moment of hesitation as she searched his face, an eternity that seemed to stretch out as their shared history flickered in her gaze. Finally, she relented, the door swinging wider to let him in. He crossed the threshold, heart racing, palms clammy with dread.
The instant the door clicked shut behind him, he felt the weight of inevitability crashing down. âWe should break up.âÂ
The words escaped him before he could process their gravity. Odessa stood frozen, her expression morphing from shock to a raw, jagged hurt that pierced him straight through. He swallowed hard. âWeâre done. Itâs over.â
Silence fell, heavy and thick. She remained motionless, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears, the depth of her pain reflected in every flicker of emotion that danced across her face. It hurt him to see her like this, and yet he steeled himself, convinced that breaking her heart was far better than the agony of continuing a lie.
He took a step toward her, battling the instinct to reach out for her, to pull her close. âThereâsâthereâs someone else.â The admission felt like gravel in his throat, grating and uncomfortable.
Odessaâs breath stuttered, eyes wide and searching. âIââ
His hesitation echoed in the space between them, a chasm of uncertainty. âI didnât mean for it to happen,â he confessed, anguish lacing his words. âIâm sorryâI donât want to hurt you. But I canât keep pretending that things are okay when theyâre not. Iâve been lying to myself for months, pretending that I still loved you in the same way, pretending that I didnât miss someone else, pretending that I wasnât completely miserable.â
The confession hung in the air, a heavy cloud suffocating and inevitable. âYouâve been so good to me, Odessa,â he continued, pushing through the tightness in his throat. âI really do love you. But not in the way I used to love you. Not in the way you deserve.â
His voice faltered, the guilt washing over him like a cold wave. âI-I just canât keep going like this when weâre both wasting our time on something thatâs not working out. Iâm sorry.â
The silence stretched, agonising. He searched her face, desperate for any sign, any spark of the girl he once knew. âSay something, please,â he finally muttered, voice raw and pleading.
He stood there, paralyzed, eyes locked onto her, seeking an answer in her expression. Yet, all he found was a reflection of the pain he had inflictedâa mirror showing the fragments of trust shattering beneath the weight of his words.
Odessa blinked, the brave facade brimming with unsaid words crumbling under the tidal wave of devastation. He wished there were more to say, some soothing melody to mend the discord between them, but all he could do was wait, heart in his throat, engulfed by the fallout of his choices.
Drew stood at the threshold of a moment he could never take back, his heart thundering against his chest like a desperate prisoner seeking escape. As he took a deep breath, he felt the weight of the world pressing down on him. âIââ His mind raced, scrambling to formulate the words that would change everything. âI still want to be friends. I think youâre an amazing person, and I still want you in my life.â
Odessa's brow furrowed, her eyes searching for some trace of the affection that had once sparked between them. The warmth that had once enveloped their bond now felt cold and distant. âAnd Iâm gonna be there for you in whatever way you need. I justââ He swallowed hard, anxiety clawing at his throat. âI need you to understand that Iâm done lying to myself. I canât keep pretending that I donât want someone else.â
The words spilled from him, raw and desperate. Guilt slithered through him like a snake, coiling tighter with every syllable. âI donât have any right to ask you this, but I hope that, in time, youâll forgive me for this. I justâI hope youâll be okay. I still care about you; god, you have no idea how much this hurts me too.â He hesitated, agonising over his next words. âBut I need to be honest with you. I canât keep lying to both of us. I canât keep pretending that I donât still loveââ
ââY/N.â Odessa finished for him, her voice gentle but firm, like a quiet storm brewing on the horizon.
His eyes widened, caught off guard by the strength of her understanding. âYou knew?â he whispered, dread pooling in the pit of his stomach.
Her gaze held his, steady but pained. âYeah. Not in the beginning. But these last few months, itâs been obvious. I just didnât want to believe it.â
Closing his eyes, Drew felt the crushing weight of her admission settle on his shoulders. Each word felt like another nail in the coffin of their relationship, sealing something precious inside. He balled his hands into fists, anger and frustration boiling within him for the agony he had inflicted on someone who had once been the light of his life. âI wasnât trying to lead you on, I swear. I didnât realize what was happening until recently.â
                               âTIMESKIPâ
As he stepped into the dimly lit hallway, the echoes of their shared laughter reverberated in his mind, mocking the heartache of the moment. He could feel his heart shattering into a million pieces, each fragment a reminder of the love that had turned into a burden. Guilt gnawed at him insatiably, promising that this ache would linger long after he had left.
But even as he retreated into the shadows of his own making, Drew knew he would return to her. Each step felt heavier, like walking through molasses as he contemplated the full weight of his choice. He had shattered something beautiful, and now he must face the shards of their fractured reality, unsure if he could put together even a part of what they once had.
The remorse settled deep in his bones, a dark weight echoing with every beat of his heart. He steeled himself, knowing that this was merely the beginning of a new chapter forged from painâone that would test their connection in ways he never anticipated. And yet, somehow he held onto a flicker of hope that, amid the shards of their past, they might reassemble into something new.Â
Outside the room, Drew paused, anxiety coursing through his veins like wildfire. His hands trembled slightly as he took a moment to steady his racing heart, inhaling deeply before finally summoning the courage to push the door open.
The sight that welcomed him took his breath away.
Roses scattered across the bed, their rich red petals inviting him into a world that felt surreal. Candles flickered softly along the edges of the room, casting warm shadows that danced collectively within the intimate space. And there, standing amidst it all, was Y/N, a box of chocolates cradled in her hands, her eyes glinting with earnest emotion.
Drewâs breath caught in his throat, his heart pounding wildly in his chest. He felt frozen, awash in a tumult of emotionsâa piercing beauty in front of him, juxtaposed against the uncertainty that swirled in his mind. She looked stunning, radiating warmth and hope, yet the weight of guilt settled heavily on his shoulders.
âY/N, what isââ he began, his voice trembling softly, laced with confusion and vulnerability.
âI know it must have been hard for you,â she interrupted gently, meeting his gaze. âAnd Iâm sorry I pushed you to do it tonight. But I want to do this right with you. That means no more lies and secrets.â
Her sincerity punctured through the heaviness in the air, and he nodded slowly, taking another deep breath. As he took a shaky step forward, his eyes roamed over herâevery detail, every curveâunravelling the beauty that had stolen his breath away.Â
âYeah, baby,â he murmured, his voice a low whisper, resonating a mix of reverence and remorse. âNo more lies or secrets.â
With a tender smile, she beckoned him closer. âCome here.âÂ
He stepped forward, taking her outstretched hand, feeling the warmth envelop him as she pulled him into her embrace. She wrapped her arms around his neck, grounding him, and he returned the gesture, his hands finding their place on her hips. The world beyond faded; all that mattered was the gentle connection between them.
âIâm so sorry,â he breathed out, searching her eyes for understanding, his heart relentless in its frantic rhythm.
âI know,â she whispered softly, her face radiating both pain and compassion.
He ached to express every remorse, each regret getting lodged like stones in his throat. The ambiance of love mingled with melancholy weighed heavily upon him, and it struck him anew with every passing moment. His gaze fell to her lips, and without thinking, he reached out, cupping her cheek with trembling fingers, brushing his thumb tenderly over her soft skin.
âCan you forgive me?â he asked, vulnerability colouring his tone as he looked into her eyes, earnestness saturating every syllable.Â
âIn time,â she reassured him, laying bare her honesty, her voice almost a caress amidst their turmoil.
He felt the tightness in his chest ease slightlyâa glimmer of hope igniting a small smile on his face. In this small reprieve, he moved closer, cupping her other cheek as he gently tilted her face up towards his.Â
With hearts set aflame by emotions unspoken, he pressed his lips against hers, enveloped in warmth and hope.Â
Y/N responded to the kiss, slow and tender, their souls meeting in an unspoken promise. With each brush of their lips, the burdens of their past weighed lessâthey felt lighter, almost dreamlike. Drewâs heart leapt, pounding in time with hers, each kiss a balm against the ache of guilt and uncertainty, transforming it into something sweet and intoxicating.
In that moment, nothing else mattered. The roses, the flickering candles, the shadows that danced around themâall of it faded into the background. All that remained was the indescribable feeling of being embraced by forgiveness and the fragile threads of a love that, despite its quarrels, was still so beautiful.
The moment his lips brushed against hers, the world faded into a hazy blur, leaving only the two of them in that intimate moment. He felt a rush of warmth and familiarity, her presence wrapping around him like a warm blanket on a cold night. It was intoxicating, a heady mix of longing and need that made his heart skip a beat.Â
When he finally pulled back, the space between them crackled with unspoken words. His fingers lingered on her delicate cheek as he pressed another gentle kiss to her lipsâsoft, exploratory, like he was tasting a forbidden fruit. He could feel the sincerity in every touch, every breath.Â
âI love you,â he muttered against her lips, the words spilling out before he could rein them in. The vulnerability in his voice hung in the air like a fragile ornament, bright and beautiful yet precarious. âI love you,â he repeated, desperate and yearning for her to mirror his devotion.
She pulled away just enough to look into his eyes, her gaze searching, probing. He could see the flicker of contemplation behind those eyes, like she was weighing his admission against a heavy scale. The silence stretched between them, an anxious chasm filled with possibilities and doubts that threatened to consume him whole.
His heart raced as he held her gaze, the intensity in the depths of her eyes swirling with uncertainty. He craved her reassurance, her love; the longing felt like a fire in his chest, refusing to be doused.Â
âSay it back,â he urged, a raw urgency in his voice. It was a plea, a wish hanging in the space where four simple words could bridge the segment of their hearts torn apart by insecurities and unspoken truths.
âIn time,â she replied, her tone soft but resolute, the air between them thickening with what was left unsaid.Â
Her answer was both a balm and a dagger to his heart. He swallowed down the impulse to press her further, the ache inside swelling painfully. Instead, he nodded, trying to mask the vulnerability that threatened to crack him open. âOkay, baby. Take your time.â
Before he could dissect the weight of her response, she covered his mouth with hers once more, her lips warm and inviting. He surrendered instantly, kissing her back with a fevered gentleness that spoke of everything he feltâpassion, desperation, hope. The kiss deepened, slow and torturous, making his entire being ignite with longing.Â
Every beat of his heart whispered of her; every brush of their lips sent electric currents dancing beneath his skin. He drowned in her taste, the way her breath mingled with his, the unrelenting pull drawing him closer. His whole body felt alive, ablaze with the need for more of her, greedy for each precious moment she was willing to share.
But within the depths of her mind lingered an unyielding truth. Little did he know, she had never planned on saying it back. Not yet. Perhaps not ever. A tangled web of fear and uncertainty gripped herâa fear of what those words could mean, of the weight they carried. The unromantic reality was that love came with burdens, and at that moment, she wasnât ready to shoulder hers.Â
As they kissed, the room spun around them, filled with soft candlelight and the scent of roses, but beneath it all lurked the heart-wrenching truth. One heart was open and willing, while the other remained shrouded in shadows, trapped in a gentle, yet unyielding silence.
The End.

man I've tried writing this post like 3 different times b/c how the hell do I explain Triage the gay groundhogs day time loop romance mission from a Literal Angel set to the dance pop Lady Gaga track of an organ trafficking hospital factory?
Anyway Tin the protagonist has the energy of one of those fluffy slightly mangled looking older cats that would yowl TWAS I WHO SET THE HOUSE ABLAZE and bites the hand of everyone except his 5 chosen humans
Forget the uni BLs you've seen before because baby Tin is stuck in a thoroughly exhausting gay version of groundhogs day crossing over with an episode of house without the ironic homophobia set in the greys anatomy hospital all to save his Influencer Love Interest from increasingly concerning deaths with the power of having absolutely zero lying skills and negative rizz like Tom Holland levels no rizz ass having, which Zendaya's his Influencer love interest ANYWAY through the sheer power of romantic hyper fixation and being a top tier level 98 slow burn obsessed weirdo with a skill buff of STARE LONGINGLY that usually only appears in accidental gay kdramas like Devil Judge or Hannibal
In the end the day is saved with some the tongue action cheat codes that cure time loop amnesia so they can return everybody's kidneys back to their rightful owners so the hospital can just be a hospital instead of an organ trafficking factory for the chicken soup soul
oh and Techno from Tharntype is here too

instead of you [part twenty-five] || l.mh
pairing:Â [best friendâs brother] lee minho x college!reader ft. han jisung
summary: you didnât expect to spend your summer pretending to be your best friendâs girlfriend- then again, you didnât expect to fall for your best friendâs brother, either.Â
warnings:Â swearing, angst, mentions of sex (mdni)
word count: 5.7k
a/n: revamped my tom holland series from my main blog ( @wazzupmrstark ) to try and motivate myself to finish it!!
series masterlist | early access to the next chapter on ko-fi
Your cheeks were hot with embarrassment, but you nodded in understanding even though you didnât want to have this conversation. You were ashamed enough already, you didnât need to be reminded of what a shitty best friend you were. You wondered what Minho must think of you. How could he still be attracted to you when you were practically throwing yourself at your boyfriendâs brother? How could you be attracted to him when he was willing to fuck his brotherâs girlfriend- well, almost fuck his brotherâs girlfriend. Minho was clearly the better person here, because he was the one whoâd stopped it from going any further. Not only that, but he was the single one here. Being a homewrecker wasnât great, but at least he wasnât the one cheating on his significant other.Â
Of course, you werenât actually cheating, but he didnât know that. What you were doing was breaking a whole bunch of rules youâd agreed to with Jisung and going behind his back and breaking his trust-
âI wonât tell him if you wonât,â Minho suggested, putting your spiral on pause.Â
You sighed and crossed your arms over your chest. âWe canât keep doing this.â
âI know.â
âIâm surprised you stillâŠâ you trailed off. What were you supposed to fill in the blank with? Iâm surprised you still want to fuck me? Talk to me? Acknowledge my existence? You settled for âwant to be around meâ and left it at that.Â
âWhy?â
âYou must think Iâm a horrible person.â
âWeâve already been over this,â he pointed out. âIf youâre a horrible person, Iâm a horrible person.â
âYeah, but, I just feel like itâs worse on my side.â
âI donât know about that.â
âWhat do you mean?â
âI donât know if I can explain it in a way youâll understand.â You must have made a face because he was quick to backtrack. âNot in that way! Like, I donât think youâre dumb or anything, itâs just that- god, Iâm a fucking idiot. I donât know how to explain-â he was fumbling, but you werenât sure how to help. You werenât sure if you wanted to help. âI thought that if we- if we, just once, then Iâd get it out of my system, but I donât think I can do that.â
You didnât have any idea as to what he was talking about, but you had a feeling it wasnât just about his brother anymore. âI thought you said this was about Jisung.â
His lip twitched, eyes widening in thinly veiled panic. âIt is! Thatâs why-â
âWhat do you mean by âgetting it out of your systemâ, then?â you pushed.Â
Minho winced. âI donât- uh, theyâre probably wondering where we are by now.â
He was right, but you werenât about to let him off the hook that easily.Â
âFine, but this isnât over. We need to have this conversation.â
âI thought we were keeping our distance from each other,â he tried.Â
âYeah, and look where that fucking got us!â you hissed, leaning toward him. âWeâre clearly not very good at avoiding each other so itâd be better to just talk about it, right?â
Minho didnât look convinced, but he nodded anyway. âI guess. But not right now.â
âYeah, whatever,â you huffed.Â
You knew he could tell that you werenât happy about the compromise, but you didnât care. It was obvious that he was running away from confrontation, though you didnât understand the reasoning behind it. Sure, it was going to be an awkward conversation to have, but you both already knew you were attracted to each other seeing as you had almost just fucked in the bathroom of a bar. It may have been more than just stupid hormones for you, but you werenât about to tell him that.Â
âYou go back to join them,â you said, smoothing your dress. âI-I canât see Jisung right now.â Minho nodded in understanding. âTell them that you ran into me back here and that Iâm going back to the room. Just make something up, but donât say that Iâm feeling sick or Jisung will want to come up to take care of me.â
âOkay,â he agreed. âI can do that.â
You both took another moment to freshen up, checking your reflections in the dim light. You wiped the smudged lipgloss from the corners of your mouth, not missing the way that Minho tucked his dick into the waistband of his slacks before heading for the door.Â
âWait, shit, I donât have a key,â you muttered to yourself. âJisung brought his for both of us.â
âTake mine,â Minho offered. He turned back around and reached into his pocket, fishing out the plastic card and handing it to you.Â
âThank you.â
âDonât mention it.â
You waited for a beat after Minho left the bathroom to follow, not wanting to get caught leaving together. Still, it felt like everyone knew. You felt like everyone was watching you as you made your way through the barâs lobby to the elevators.Â
You didnât have time to dwell, too paranoid to even check if your suspicions were correct.Â
The penthouse was thankfully empty when you returned. The main area was empty, at the very least. Nikki and Dom were either still out or had already gone to bed. Either way, you were relieved to be alone. You werenât sure how long it would be until the boys got back so you took advantage of the solitude and jumped in the shower.Â
It was nice not to have to worry about taking too long, or someone waiting to go after you. Sharing a bathroom with three men was more of a hassle than you had expected, but maybe that was because they were all high maintenance.Â
You washed your hair and your body, but you didnât focus too much on it. You knew there was no amount of scrubbing that could make the dirty feeling on your skin go away. It was ridiculous, how far youâd let this get. You didnât know what was wrong with you, what had made you lose all sense of control and boundaries when you were around him.Â
It was like you didnât care about throwing your friendship with Jisung away, but you did. It made you sick to your stomach to think about the damage this might do to your relationship. You knew heâd be furious if he found out, and you knew he might never forgive you. So why couldnât you stop?
The mirror was completely fogged up by the time you got out of the shower. You werenât sure how much time had passed, but your fingers were all wrinkly, which told you it had been a hot minute.Â
You hadnât brought a change of clothes with you again so you were forced to retreat to your room in nothing but a towel. Minho, Jisung, and Felix were clustered in the hallway having a conversation because of course they were, and all three of them turned their attention to you when they heard the door to the bathroom open.Â
âSorry,â you squeaked, and scurried off to your room, but not before catching Minhoâs eye and Jisung's smirk.Â
Jisung was right behind you, leaving the two other boys in the hallway as he followed you into the bedroom.Â
âSorry,â you repeated to just him. âI didnât know you guys were back already.â
âItâs okay. You always forget to bring your pajamas with you when you shower anyway.â
âI know! Why do I do that?â
He shrugged and took a seat on the edge of the bed. âYou donât like having to put your clothes on while youâre still in the bathroom because youâre all wet and the air is sticky.â
âYeah, but I usually just suck it up when Iâm with other people.â
âItâs not a big deal. I mean one of my brothers has already seen you naked.â
You scoffed, burying yourself in the task of pulling clean pajamas from your suitcase. âPlease donât remind me.â
âYou missed a great Meg cover,â he said, taking your request to heart.Â
âOh yeah?â
âYeah, they were a cute couple. They did that one song with SZA. You wouldâve liked it.â
âOh, bummer.â
Jisung laid back on the bed, training his eyes on the ceiling as you changed. It was a force of habit, something he still tended to do even though you had changed in front of each other and seen each other naked countless times. Honestly, it was an improvement from when he had used to fully turn away from you every time you started to strip, so you tried not to make too much fun of him for it.Â
âOf course, no one beat our performance.â
âOf course not. We were naturals up there,â you agreed, jumping into bed next to him once you were dressed.Â
âWe hit every note. The track was off, not us.â
âThe microphones warped our voices.â
âThe speakers were broken.â
Jisung chuckled and propped himself up on his elbows. âHey, we should probably have sex tonight.â
âWhy, did one of your brothers say something?â
âNo, no, nothing like that,â he assured you. âJust for consistencyâs sake⊠unless you arenât feeling up to it?â
âNo, yeah, we can totally do it,â you answered quickly. Stupidly.
You zoned out while Jisung gave you a hickey on your neck, trying not to think about how Minhoâs mouth had felt in that exact spot just a few hours ago. You moaned softer than you usually did, telling yourself that it was because you were sharing a space with Jisungâs parents, but you werenât fooling anyone.Â
You knew Minho would be able to hear you anyway, the walls had already proven to be awfully thin, and heâd see the hickey tomorrow regardless. There was no way around it. Heâd know that youâd run to Jisung when you werenât able to have him- except that wasnât the case at all. But what would he think? Why did you care so much?Â
You wished you could just tell him the truth, but then what would that solve? The whole reason you were on this stupid trip anyway was to convince Jisungâs family that he was in a relationship- Minho included.Â
-
He managed to avoid you almost entirely the following day. You spent the afternoon with all of the Hans at The Bund, Shanghaiâs most well-known attraction. It was a mile of skyline nestled against the Huangpu River with dozens of shops, museums, and galleries interspersed among the buildings.Â
Jisung geeked out over the architecture, rambling about how there were over fifty-two styles of it present in the area. You listened intently, while his brothers pretended to fall asleep. You knew they were secretly interested, but they couldnât let him know that.Â
The day was warm, a bit uncomfortably hot if you stood in direct sunlight, but it was manageable in the shade. Dom bought everyone popsicles from a cart parked on the promenade to cool down.Â
You shared with Jisung, trading your ice pops every few minutes. Heâd gotten blue raspberry and you chose cherry, making both of your tongues turn purple.Â
âThis is how they invented the bisexual pride flag,â you said, licking a drop of juice from your hand.Â
âYouâre full of shit,â Jisung sighed and shook his head.Â
âFine, it wasnât exactly like this. The inventor was at a party and they made out with a girl eating a blue popsicle and a boy eating a red one, and then when they saw that their mouth turned purple they had a eureka moment-â
âThere isnât even red on the bi flag!â your best friend pointed out. âItâs pink.â
âFuck.â
âYou forgot what your own flag looks like?â
âWould you have believed me if I said it was a pink popsicle?â you asked, ignoring his question.Â
âNo! It was a ridiculous story.â
âDamn.â
You stayed at The Bund until sunset, deciding to find a place to eat dinner when the sun kissed the horizon.Â
You tried to enjoy the sights, but Minho was making it difficult. Every time you tried to corner him, get him alone to talk to him about the night before, he managed to change the subject or slip away. Most of the time, heâd just call one of the twins over to join your conversation, eliminating any chance you had of bringing up the incident. You wondered if the giant hickey on your neck had anything to do with it. It was clear that he hadnât wanted to talk to you about it even before he thought you slept with his brother last night, but maybe that had made him even more hesitant.Â
You eventually gave up trying to get him alone, not wanting to raise any red flags. Minho seemed to relax once he realized youâd laid off. He was much more conversational at dinner and even cracked a few jokes with his parents, who seemed oblivious to any tension.Â
You didnât even bother trying to talk to him the next morning. It was too early for that shit and you wanted to have a good time at the aquarium without worrying about your best friendâs brother.Â
He said good morning to you in the kitchen as everyone was grabbing breakfast to go, but you ignored him. If he wanted to act immature, then you would too. It honestly seemed to be a better arrangement than whatever horny nonsense had been going on for the past few weeks.Â
The aquarium was beautiful. This one in particular was known for its underwater tunnels with moving sidewalks. They stretched on for what felt like miles, taking you through all the different sea life enclosures.Â
It was one of the more quiet activities, which you appreciated, and since it was so early it wasnât too crowded either. The only time the silence was broken was when either you or Jisung would point out a funny-looking fish to one another.Â
At first, Jisung had made jokes about spotting different kinds of fish that heâd cooked before, but that upset you so he stopped pretty much immediately.Â
To your surprise, Minho pulled you aside in the aquarium gift shop. You were looking at shark stuffies while Jisung was over in the book aisle so you assumed that he was finally ready to talk about that night, but you were wrong. Instead, he grabbed one of the sharks off the shelf and pretended to look it over before turning to you and giving you a very serious look.Â
âWhat?â you asked in annoyance, frustrated that you had to drag whatever it was out of him even now.Â
âDo you still have the postcard?â
âThe one you gave me in Italy?â you asked, cocking your head to the side. Minho nodded, rocking back on his heels awkwardly. âYeah, why?â
âI⊠kind of need it back.â
You blinked, honestly taken aback at his sudden key change. âWhat? I thought you said I could keep it even after we called it even.â
âI know, I just- changed my mind.â
âIs this about Jisung, because he knew you gave me-â
âNo, it isnât about Jisung,â he cut you off and looked away as if he was paranoid about someone listening in on your conversation. âI donât really want to get into it right now-â
âOkay, fine, whatever. I donât have it here, though. Itâs in my backpack back at the hotel so you can have it when we get back.â You folded your arms across your chest as you spoke, tone icy.Â
Minho winced at your reaction. âIâm sorry, itâs just-â
âDonât be. Itâs whatever.â
Instinctively, you turned to search for Jisung, seeking comfort in his presence like you had done so many times before. You could see the top of his head over the aisles so you made your way over to him, abandoning Minho amongst the stuffies before he could respond.Â
Jisung was still looking at books, seemingly trying to decide between a marine biology guide and a novel about a shipwreck based on the covers. He perked up when he felt you approach and turned around to face you, holding both of the books out.Â
âWhich one should I get?â
âI feel like Iâm biased because I hate survival stories, and a survival story at sea sounds even worse.â
He sighed, turning the hardback over in his hand. âYeah, youâre the hopeless romantic out of the two of us. Always reading love stories with the same tropes.â
âI wouldnât say Iâm hopeless,â you argued. âI found you, didnât I?â
âI donât think thatâs a great point for your case.â
You rolled your eyes. âShut up, youâre a great boyfriend.â
âWell, Iâm glad you think so.â
âAnd for what itâs worth, I donât only read romance.â
âOh yeah, you also read a lot of smut.â
âJi!â
âWhat? You do!â
âYeah, but can you not advertise that so publicly?â
He laughed and nudged your shoulder playfully. âThereâs no one around to hear.â
âIf no oneâs around, then why was I just hyping you up as a great boyfriend?â
âBecause I am one.â
âYouâre annoying, is what you are,â you huffed.Â
âYou say that, and yet continue to spend time with me.â
âBecause I have no one else.â
He grinned at you before gazing down at your hands. âThatâs cute. Are you going to get it?â
You looked down to see what he was talking about and realized you were holding a stuffed shark from the plushies section. You hadnât even noticed that you brought it with you when you walked away from Minho. Youâd been gripping it so hard that it was a little deflated and a couple of its felt teeth were turned inward.Â
âOh, um, I donât know. Do you think I should?â
âYeah,â Jisung answered with a shrug, âWhy not?â
He grabbed it from you and placed it on top of the marine biology book in the crook of his elbow, sliding the novel back onto the shelf.Â
âWhat are you doing?â you asked, following him through the store up to the register.
âBuying you the shark,â he said as if it should have been obvious.
âWhat, no! You donât have to do that!â you protested.Â
âY/n, how many times have we been over this? I dragged you all the way across the world, the least I could do is buy you a stuffed shark.â
âYou use that excuse with everything you buy for me!â
âYeah, because itâs true. And as your boyfriend, itâs my job to do nice things for you. Itâs literally, what, a hundred yuan? Thatâs like fifteen dollars.â
You knew you couldnât argue with him about it in the store, seeing as the only valid point you could make was that he wasnât actually your boyfriend.
âFine,â you muttered. You could Venmo him for the stupid shark when you got back to the hotel.Â
He smiled victoriously and placed both items on the counter for the cashier to scan.Â
âWhat do you want to name it?â
âI donât know. Do you have any ideas, since youâre the one buying it?â
He tilted his head back in thought, humming. âWhat about Shang? Because weâre in Shanghai? And Shang is also your favorite Disney prince.â
You bit your lip in embarrassment, suddenly wishing you had asked the question after purchasing the animal. Not only was his suggestion the most touristy thing youâd ever heard, but it was also exposing your crush on a fucking cartoon character in front of this stranger.Â
âWell, theyâre pronounced differently,â you pointed out quietly.Â
âYeah, youâd have to pick one and just know he represents both.â
You kept Shang tucked under your arm on the ride back to the hotel, letting Felix hold him when he asked how soft he was. It was a pain to hail a cab big enough for all six of you so Nikki made the executive decision to take two separate taxis. She and Dom would take the first, and then the four of you would squeeze into the next one.Â
You sat squished in between the twins while Minho took the passenger seat. You were surprised that he remembered enough Mandarin from tours years ago to exchange pleasantries with the driver. The driver was impressed too and laughed heartily at something Minho said.Â
âButcher it that bad, huh?â Jisung joked, earning a glare from his older brother.Â
âNo, it was a joke. He was supposed to laugh.â
Jisung smirked and nodded like he was unconvinced. You almost scolded him for giving Minho a hard time, but then you remembered you were still mad at him so you held your tongue.Â
âWhatâs for dinner?â you asked instead.Â
âI donât know,â Jisung replied. âWeâre either going to try and find a place to get xiaolongbao or Iâm gonna cook. Do you have a preference?â
âI am feeling a little tired, but I also have your food all the time. We should go out and get something while weâre here, right?â
âIf thatâs what you want to do, then absolutely.â
-
Once back, you set Shang at the head of your and Jisungâs bed, fluffing him gently so that heâd hopefully plump up again.
âItâs his bed now,â youâd announced to your best friend.Â
âAs it should be,â he agreed. âHe is a benevolent ruler and reigns over his kingdom of the bedroom with a gentle hand.â
âHow noble of him.â
Jisung nodded and yawned, stretching his arms over his head. âWhat do you want to do until dinner?âÂ
âHow long do we have?â
âFew hours, probably.â
âWanna check out the pool?â
âYeah, Iâll ask Felix and Minho if they want to join us.â
âActually,â you reached out to stop him, âcan it just be the two of us?â
He seemed surprised by your request but was quick to reciprocate. âSure, letâs go.â
-
Your hair was still wet by the time you were seated in the restaurant for dinner. You tried not to let it drip down the back of your chair, but that was proving to be difficult. Jisungâs hair had dried significantly more than yours had. It was damp, but only barely, and curling up at the ends. Each time he ran a hand through it, youâd be flicked with water droplets.Â
âWas the pool any fun?â his mother asked, sipping from her cocktail glass. Â
âIt was nice,â Jisung answered for both of you. âIt was really quiet because we were the only people there, but that was kind of a bonus.â
âThanks for the invite,â Felix muttered, making you feel a little guilty for specifically not wanting them to join.
âI wanted to spend some time alone with my girlfriend, sue me!â Jisung shot back.Â
You were thankful he didnât throw you under the bus, even though you knew he wouldnât anyway.Â
âYou get alone time with her every night, asshole,â his twin brother pointed out.Â
Your hand shot up to your neck, suddenly feeling self-conscious about the hickey Jisung had given you the night before. Next to you, he clenched his jaw but didnât say anything. Whether or not Felix had intended to make the innuendo was unclear, but knowing him it was easy to guess.Â
âWhat should we order, Jisung?â Dom asked, expertly changing the subject like he had so many times before.Â
You had noticed that anywhere you went, Jisungâs parents were always asking his opinion on what to eat. They assumed that because he was a culinary student he knew everything there was to know about food, and therefore knew what everyone would like. It was partly true, which was one of the reasons you always let him order for you. You were guilty of making the assumption too, but even though he acted annoyed by it you knew that he secretly liked being asked for his opinion.Â
âWe should get at least one order of the traditional xiaolongbao,â he suggested. âTheyâre pork dumplings full of soup, which is what Shanghai is famous for.â
âSounds good, anything else?â
You tuned out as Jisung listed off a few other dishes to get, watching Minho out of the corner of your eye. He wasnât paying attention either. He was scrolling on his phone, looking incredibly bored.Â
You nearly scoffed. He could at least pretend to be interested in what Jisung was saying. You knew Jisung had done the same for him God knows how many times.Â
You cleared your throat unsubtly, getting his attention immediately. Men were so easy. But you had also gotten everyone elseâs attention, stopping the conversation altogether.Â
âYes, dear?â Jisung asked, leaning in your direction.
âNothing, sorry,â you sputtered, still eyeing Minho. He held eye contact with you, eyebrows raised in question. âSwallowed wrong.â
Of course, you had to use the word swallow while staring down the guy you wanted to fuck. If he caught it, he didnât show it.Â
Jisung rubbed your back soothingly. âOh, you alright, baby?â
âFine, thanks.â
The conversation picked back up and you were able to fade into the background again. Minho contributed this time, presumably adding his thoughts on the food to the collective ordering process.Â
âDoes that sound good, baby?â Jisungâs voice snapped you out of your train of thought, and you realized you were still glaring at his brother.Â
âHm? Oh, sure. You know I trust your judgment on food.â
âI know. Half the time we go out you donât even open the menu.â
âI like to be surprised!â
He chuckled, the hand that was still on your back making familiar circular motions. âI know, I know. I just wanted to check to make sure there wasnât anything in particular you wanted.â
âIâm ok. Youâre very sweet, though.â You punctuated the statement with a kiss to his cheek.Â
âI know.â
âJesus Christ, I take it back.â
âToo late!â
âYouâre impossible.â
âThank you.â
-
After dinner, the Hans decided to attempt taking the metro back to the hotel rather than a cab. It took an hour longer because Felix misread the map and had all of you get on the wrong train at first, but eventually, you made it back to the square you all recognized and walked the rest of the way from there.Â
Jisung jumped in the shower first, and you followed him, washing all of the chlorine from the pool out of your hair and off of your body. You remembered to bring your change of clothes with you this time and threw your wet hair up in your towel so that you wouldnât drip everywhere as you had at the restaurant.Â
Shang was sitting on Jisungâs lap when you joined him in the bedroom. He was absorbed in the book youâd lent him, highlighter balanced between his teeth as he jotted something down in the margins with a ballpoint pen.Â
âShang better not end up in your room instead of mine when we go home,â you warned.Â
âBe prepared for him to go missing,â he mumbled.Â
âIâll just take him back!â
âYou wonât be able to find him. And youâll never be able to prove it was me.â
âWeâll see about that.â
You were about to crawl into bed next to him when Nikki calling for the boys stopped you. You werenât included in the roll call, but Jisung dragged you out into the living room anyway to see what was going on.Â
Felix had beat you there and was standing behind the couch where his parents were gathered around an iPad.Â
âItâs your cousin!â Nikki exclaimed. âCome say hi!â
The twins rounded the sofa and sat on either side of their parents, leaning into the frame so that the boys on the other side of the screen could see them.Â
âJeongin, Yoon! How are you?â
âGood! Itâs hot here!â the older one, presumably Jeongin, answered.
âWhereâsâhereâ?â Felix asked.Â
âFlorida!â the younger one exclaimed.Â
âWeâre in the States for vacation,â Jeongin explained. âI dunno how you lived here for so long, Jisung.â
âTo be fair, I was a little further north than you are, but yeah, summers are brutal. Oh, by the way, this is my girlfriend!â
You were still standing behind the couch, not wanting to encroach on their family discussion, but when Jisung mentioned you he motioned for you to bend down into the frame and introduce yourself.Â
You waved, hoping he could see you. âHi! Nice to meet you, Iâm y/n.â
Jeongin shot you a polite hello before addressing Jisung again. âI honestly thought you were lying when you said you had a girlfriend.â
Felix burst out laughing from the other side of the couch. âI miss you guys. Itâs not as fun to make fun of Ji without you. Minhoâs been lacking!â
âOi, at least I have a girlfriend,â Jisung butt in. âI reckon you four will be single for the rest of your lives.â
âI bet Jeonginâs found himself a summer crush,â Felix reasoned. âHeâs always had the most game out of all of us.â
The youngest boy scoffed. âYeah, okay. One of us is a famous K-pop dancer, but Iâm definitely the one with the most game.â
âTalent doesnât equal game,â Jisung added despite being roasted within an inch of his life seconds earlier.Â
âWhere is Minho?â Nikki asked the twins suddenly, looking around the room for her eldest son.
âHeâs at the bar we went to the other night,â Felix answered. âThe one on the roof.â
âCan one of you go grab him? He needs to say hello to the boys.â
âI can do it,â you volunteered automatically without thinking. You didnât want either of the boys to give up time talking with Jeongin and Yoon, but you hadnât considered that you would have to see Minho and be alone with him if you were going to take their place.Â
âAre you sure?â Jisung asked.Â
âYeah, totally,â you replied, trying to control the shakiness in your voice. âYou guys stay here. Iâll go get him.â
You kissed Jisung before you could change your mind as if the decision had been sealed by your lips.Â
You ran back by your room to slip on some shoes and took your hair out of the towel it had been drying in, hanging it on one of the hangers in the bedroom closet.Â
The bar was only a few floors above the one you were staying at, but you decided to take the elevator anyway, not wanting to get sweaty after having just showered. You tried convincing yourself that being alone with Minho would be no big deal, even after what happened last time you were at this bar. Maybe you would finally be able to have that conversation you had been trying to have with him.Â
Doubtful. Heâd been acting weird all day. Certainly, heâd find another reason to blow you off and youâd be right back where you started.Â
As soon as the elevator dinged at the floor you were headed to your heart dropped into your stomach. You told yourself that the nerves were because of the height. It was a rooftop bar after all. But you had been perfectly fine the last time you were here, so you couldnât even attribute your anxiety to that. No, you knew exactly what it was. You just didnât want to admit it. Â Â
Even though the bar was dark, it wasnât hard to find Minho. The place was practically empty. He was seated on one of the plush velvet couches facing the windows, looking down at something that was in his hands. As you got closer, you recognized something beside him. It was a bag. More specifically-
âIs that my backpack?â you demanded, making him jump up in surprise.Â
All of the nervous energy dissipated instantly, quickly replaced by anger and confusion. Minho clutched what he was holding to his chest. His eyes were wide with panic and his cheeks were already turning pink.Â
âWhat the fuck, Minho?â you hissed, continuing when he didnât say anything. âCare to explain yourself?â
Suddenly, the shocked expression on his face fell into one of⊠what you thought might be anger, only confusing you further.Â
âI should be asking you the same thing,â he spat.
âWhat? What are you talking about?â
âI know I shouldnât have taken your stuff without asking-â
âYeah, you shouldnât have.â
âLet me finish,â he grumbled.Â
You rolled your eyes, honestly in disbelief that someone who was snooping through your things could have the audacity to be upset with you.Â
âI just went to get the postcard I gave you.â
The postcard. You had forgotten that he asked for it back. Still, that didnât give him any right to-
âYou said it was in your backpack so once we got back to the hotel I was just going to grab it from your room. I didnât want to have to ask you again since you were clearly upset about it, so I thought that Iâd find it myself. That was all I was going to do, I swear, but you had a lot of things in your backpack that looked like postcards, and some of them mentioned me so⊠I took the bag with me so that I could look at them all later, after dinner. I didnât know what I was looking at, at firstâŠâ he trailed off.Â
A slight shift in his hands revealed what he was actually holding. Flashcards. The flashcards. Fuck. The room began to spin and you genuinely thought you might be sick. You wanted the ground to open up and swallow you whole. You wanted to break one of the barâs windows and leap out of it, even if it meant facing your greatest fear. But you couldnât move. Your mind screamed at you to do something, say something to explain yourself, but you were frozen in place, unable to say a word, let alone string an entire sentence together.
âWhat are these, y/n?â he asked, taking a step toward you.Â
It was a rhetorical question. He obviously knew what they were. âDates, fun facts, stories about you and Jisung... either you have a really shitty memory, or youâre not actually dating my brother.â His tone was taunting, he was smirking, but the way he was looking at you, the way he clenched his jaw, told you that he wasnât amused in the slightest.Â
âI-â
âAre you really in love with Jisung?â
âI love Jisung,â you whispered quietly, desperately. You couldnât even look Minho in the eye.Â
âAre you in love with him?â he repeated. âDonât fucking lie to me.â
You sucked in a breath, forcing yourself to meet Minhoâs gaze.Â
âNo.â

A/n: I love this request because I love mafia AUs!! I sadly couldn't come up with any ideas as an actual fic, so I made headcanons for you to enjoy anyway!
Request: Hii, I hope you are having a good day! Can I request one with the mob! tom holland Ă reader where tom is really protective of his private life and everyone thinks he is non-committal and only hooks up for one night but actually, he has been with the same girl since he was 15 and they just get more in love every day đ„șđ«¶
Tom HATES sharing his personal life with the public
He will do everything in his power to keep his life private, especially from the newspaper
He only does it because anything can and will be used against him by many people who could easily take him down
So, even though the public yearns for details about him, nothing is really confirmed
There have been rumors that he sleeps around or can't keep a girl for more than a week
That's far from true bc this man has one love and it is you
He's been in love with you since high school before he became the powerful man he is today
Even though he can be intimidating and brutal, you know he's still the same dork that you met back in freshman year
He will do anything for you and only you
He refuses to let the tabloids know about your connection to him
He absolutely adores you in every way to the point where he won't denounce the rumors just to keep your identity hidden
He honestly doesn't mind being called a player because you both know he's far from it
At some point, the rumors about him sleeping around did bother you, but he quickly assured you that they'll never be true
Now, him keeping your private does not mean he's never in public with you
Quite the opposite, he's almost always in public with you
He just has people on the inside of the newsroom who do everything to stop headlines from running
This may seem like it's the opposite of privacy, but the public only gets information about him through the news
He hires people to block any photos that contain you and him, even at premieres or dinners
Not one paparazzi has successfully gotten a photo of him and you together
Even though he worries for your safety he would never lock you up and keep you inside
He enjoys going out with you, knowing he has other people keeping your identity safe
Not to mention his bodyguards admire you and are just as dedicated to protecting you
At the end of the day, you laugh at the rumors with him, pretending to catch him cheating and acting out dramatic scenes you saw in movies

âââ  ïœĄïŸâ: *.✠.* :âïŸ. âââ
summer had gone by in a blink of an eye, and before you knew it, it was fall. the start of junior year, the second to last year of your college education. the year where almost everyone starts to realize âoh, this shit is realâ and really whip themselves into shape.Â
you had gotten back to your off campus house before your two other roommates. you had met the two other girls you now call best friends during your freshman year. there was sarah, who was your roommate your first year, and mia, who was your neighbor in the dorms.
you enjoyed being the first one to the house. you could move in your stuff peacefully without having the other girlâs stuff in the way. plus, you could play music as loud as you wanted to. that is, with the exception of the open window and the other students looking up towards your room whenever they walked by.Â
and of course, just like it was last year, once the others girls arrived: chaos ensued.Â
âoh my god, the hockey team is throwing a party tonight,â mia practically yelled from the kitchen, âwe have to go!â
mia was the wild child, the party animal out of the three of you. sarah was a lot more like you, someone who would rather stay at home and watch a good movie than go out to a party. however, over the past couple semesters, mia has gotten you more out of your shell.
which she may or may not take a little for granted on some occasions.
you shook your head, âhell no.â
âwhy not?â she frowned. you rolled your eyes.Â
âbecause if the hockey team is throwing a party then you know, about 99.9% of the time, taylor and her posse are gonna be there.â
taylor harrison, the president of the sorority and the literal definition of daddyâs money. she's the type of girl who gets what she wants when she wants it, and if she doesn't then all hell brakes loose.
it didn't help that she was the girl every guy had their eye on. the girl, that for some reason, every girl wanted to be approved by her and be her friend. you couldn't understand why someone would want to get sucked into her toxic, little circle.Â
âbesides,â you shrugged, âjack and i have plans.â
the two other girls sent you playful looks, âplans?â
âoh, shut up.â
jack had been your boyfriend since the beginning of last year. the two of you were in the same class, he sat next to you and the rest is history. it was cliche and something that happens to everyone, but you could tell that it was different with him.
âwell then,â mia sighed, looking over at sarah, âi guess youâre forced into going to the party this time.â
sarah groaned, âseriously? thereâs a new episode of drag race i need to watch.â
mia gave her a look, âiâll buy you coffee for a week.â
sarah rolled her eyes before looking back over at you, watching as you slowly backed away from the conversation, âyou owe me.â
you laughed, hand on the knob to the front door, âsorry! gotta go!â
you quickly left the house before you were convinced to skip out on jack and go to the party too. you made your way towards the campus apartment buildings, giving small smiles to a couple of the familiar faces that passed you. you had made your way through the group of people in the quad, going inside the building and heading for the stairs.Â
you reached his apartment door and knocked, but there was no answer. you waited a couple seconds as you heard shuffling from the other side of the door.
you knocked again, âjack?â
with no answer yet again, you reached for the door knob and turned it slowly, but you wish you hadnât. you watched as a red headed girl held her shirt up, covering her chest and as jack froze in place in front of the door, shirtless with hickeys littering his collarbone.Â
you didn't know what to say, or how to react as the girl turned around and put her shirt on.Â
ây/n, baby, this isnât what it looks like-â
you cut him off with a hard slap across his face. the red headed girl gasped quietly. you sent her a look.Â
âdonât you have somewhere to be?â
she gathered her things quickly before talking to jack before she pushed past you, âiâll call you?â
he didnât answer her, just stood there looking at you. you watched her leave as she quickly made her way towards the staircase at the end of the hall, disappearing behind other people.Â
âhow could you?â you asked, your voice breaking as tears threatened to spill over your eyes.Â
âiâm sorry-â
âdon't,â you mumbled, âweâre done.â
he watched as you turned away from him, walking towards the stairs. you ignored his calls to come back as tears spilled out of your eyes and onto the tile of the hallway.Â
you took out your phone, sending a text to the groupchat with mia and sarah.Â
y/n change of plans, not going to jacks. you guys at the party yet?
sarah unfortunately what happened with jack?
y/n ill explain when i get thereÂ
mia YAY Y/NS COMING TO THE PARTY!!!Â
you locked your phone, shoving it into the back pocket of your jeans as you made your way towards the house party. most of the guys on the hockey team had done the same thing as you and your friends, they had decided to share a house off campus. it was the hotspot for all the parties and they were known to throw the best of them.Â
you walked up the path, people sitting outside with drinks in their hands as music boomed from inside the house. you made your way through the door, looking for sarah and mia, but they were nowhere to be found.Â
you sighed, making your way to the kitchen instead. you went through the different alcohols and mixed up some kind of concoction into your cup, gulping it down before reaching for another alcohol. you poured a heavy amount, someone walking into the kitchen and coming up next to you, grabbing a can of soda.Â
âdamn, rough day?âÂ
you instantly knew that accent. tom holland. the captain of the hockey team, the hottest guy on campus.
and taylor harringtonâs boyfriend. or ex boyfriend. it really depended on how she felt that day.Â
âyou could say that.â
he watched as you mixed the vodka with a can of soda. you didnât tense at his gaze, didnât immediately want to keep his interest. but something about you made his eyes linger a little longer than he wouldâve done with anyone else.Â
âyou alright?â he asked, still watching as you sipped the drink from your cup. you made eye contact this time, nodding as you swallowed.Â
ânot really, but itâs not like you necessarily care, right?âÂ
you didnât mean to sound like an ass, but you really didnât want to deal with taylorâs bitching if she saw you talking to tom. you were pretty sure that if she were to say something to you right now, youâd rip the overpriced extensions out of her bleach blonde head.Â
âi mean if youâre upset about something, i think itâs best if you talk about it. especially âcause it looks like youâve been crying.â
why's he so nice?
âand what? talk to you about my problems? no thanks.â
he shrugged, leaning against the counter, âcanât say i didnât try.â
you took another sip before looking back at him. you didnât mean for your eyes to linger around his jawline, but god he was hot. any girl, or guy, would say the same thing. he was easy on the eyes, extremely good at his sport and he got near perfect grades. he literally checked all the boxes.
thatâs when you noticed something was missing, âwhereâs your barbie girlfriend and her minions?âÂ
he laughed, ânot a clue, could care less to be honest with you.â
you raised an eyebrow, âwhat? did she break up with you for the 30th time today because you didnât get her a chanel bag?â
he smiled, ânah, i broke up with her. caught her sleeping with this other guy.â
your eyes widened, mentally cursing yourself for being such a dick, âoh, uhm- iâm sorry.â
âno, itâs okay-â
âitâs not, because i know what it feels like,â you said, your eyes meeting his brown ones, âit sucks.â
âhow long ago, if you donât mind me asking?â
you looked down at your phone, glancing at the time, âabout forty-five minutes ago.â
his eyes widened softly, âshit, iâm sorry.âÂ
you shrugged, âwhat can you do, right?â
he nodded, âsuppose youâre right.â
it was quiet for a couple seconds before he spoke up again, âis there a part of you that kinda wants them to be jealous? like see you with someone else and be like âdamn, i shouldnât have fucked that upâ? or is it just me?âÂ
you thought about it for a second. thought about the look on jackâs face if he were to see you with someone else, if he would even react. you thought about rubbing it into his face that you found someone better, someone who would never betray your trust.Â
âyeah,â you nodded, ânow that you mention it.â
your conversion was interrupted when mia and sarah made their way into the kitchen, ây/n! there you are!â
you smiled at sarah, clearly seeing a very drunk mia.
âhey,â sarah said, âso what happened with jack?â
âitâs a long story, iâll explain later,â you said, grabbing the bottle of tequila out of miaâs hands, âletâs put that down, yeah?âÂ
âbut âm not even drunk!â you were surprised you were able to make out the sentence from how slurred her words were.Â
you chuckled, âtrust me, you are,â you looked over at sarah, âwe should head back to the house.â
she nodded back at you, agreeing. tom spoke up once again, âhey, i could give you guys a ride back to your house.â
you waved him off, smiling politely, âno, itâs okay. itâs not that far of a walk.â
âno, no, i insist,â he said, fishing his keys out of his pocket, âjust tell me how to get there.â
you looked at him, âyouâre sober?â
âyeah,â he said, âi donât really drink.â
you nodded to him, knowing he wouldnât take no for an answer. you let sarah and mia walk in front of you, tom on your left. he walked up to a group of guys that you assumed to be his house and teammates.Â
âhey, iâll be back in a little.â
âsounds good, man.â
he nodded towards the door, placing his hand on the small of your back to lead you through the crowd. as you pushed through with tom following behind, you noticed the looks that got thrown your way.
of course everyoneâs eyes were on you, you were walking with tom holland, who had his hand on your back. of course it looked a little bit conspicuous to anyone who was watching.
once you were outside, he unlocked the audi that was sitting in the driveway, mia and sarah filing into the backseat as you climbed into the passenger side.Â
âso, where to, ladies?â
âweâre on lincoln, in one of the off campus houses.â sarah said, letting mia lean her head on her shoulder.Â
he nodded, putting the car in reverse. the music softly playing from the speakers as you found yourself staring out the window, losing yourself in thought as tom made small conversation with sarah in the back.Â
âhey,â his voice directed towards you as it pulled you out of your train of thought, âyou alright?â
you looked over at him, sending him a tight lipped smile and a nod, âyeah.â
âyou sure?â he looked back over at you before looking at the road in front of him, âyouâre not a very good liar.â
you sighed, âjust thinking about what you mentioned earlier, you know the whole âmaking my shitty ex jealousâ thing.â
he nodded, âyeah, itâs just the coming up with something that would bother them thatâs the hard part.â
you nodded in agreement, looking back out the window. you started thinking of ways that you could make it look like you were doing so much better than jack, something that would instantly make him regret cheating on you.Â
thatâs when it hit you.
âa fake relationship!â you said, tomâs attention turning back to you.Â
his eyebrows were furrowed, âwhat?â
âyou know, get into a fake relationship with someone. you go out and pretend that the two of you are dating, the other person would obviously know itâs fake, and the both of you could benefit from the ârelationshipâ. the best thing about it is that no one else would know you're not together, only the two of you.âÂ
he nodded, âdoesnât sound like a bad idea.â
âof course it doesnât, because i came up with it,â you smirked, âand iâm the mastermind.â
he let out a chuckle as you pointed to your house, telling him he could just pull up in front of it. he did as you had asked, pulling in front of the house and unlocking the doors so the three of you could get out.Â
âthanks for the ride, tom!â sarah smiled, helping mia out of the car as she led her towards the house.Â
âanytime.â
you watched your roommates from where you were standing by the open car door. once you saw they were inside, you looked back at him.Â
âthanks for letting me vent,â you smiled, âand for the ride, too,â you tucked a piece of hair behind your hair as the wind softly blew it in front of your face, "you know, she really ruined your reputation."
he smiled from the drivers side, âiâve heard that more than you think.â
you smiled back, âthanks again.â
âalways.â
you closed the door to the car softly, making your way to the front door. you had noticed he stayed in the car, making sure you made it to the door okay. you sent him a small wave as you closed the door, locking it and turning off the outside light. Â
you leaned up against the wooden frame, looking back at your grinning roommates, âwhat?â
âtom freaking holland just drove us home because of you!â mia said, âhow did that even happen?!â
you rolled your eyes, ânothing happened. nothings happening, okay? weâre just in the same situation.â
âoh, yeah,â sarah said as you made your way into the kitchen, âwhat happened with jack?â
you took a deep breath as you grabbed a water bottle, the two girls anxiously waiting for you to tell them why you were so upset.
âi uh, i went over to his apartment and he was fucking another girl,â you said, both of their mouths dropping open, âand i broke up with him.âÂ
âiâm so sorry,â mia said, âhe didnât deserve you.â
âwhat a dick!â sarah rolled her eyes, both of the girls walking over and wrapping you in a group hug, âwe love you.â
you smiled, âi love you guys.â
âââ  ïœĄïŸâ: *.✠.* :âïŸ. âââ
âwhat, so are they broken up or are they dating still?â you asked, watching whatever reality show sarah had put on the living room tv. she shrugged her shoulders.
ânot really sure.â
âif i was her, iâd break up with him.â mia said from her side of the couch. sarah nodded her head, pointing at her as a silent way of saying she made a point.Â
there was a knock on the door, pulling all of you away from the show. you got up from your seat, putting your drink down, âi got it.âÂ
you walked over to the front door, unlocking it as you peeked open the door. you opened it the rest of the way as you smiled at the brunette boy in front of you.Â
âstalker much?â you joked and he let out a soft laugh.
âhello to you, too,â he joked back at you, âdo you have a minute? i uh... have to talk to you about something.â
you nodded, letting him inside the house. sarah and mia watched from the living room, eyebrows raised as you shut the door.Â
âhey, tom!â
he smiled back at the girls in the living room, sending them a small wave as they sent you a look. you waved your hand in front of your neck, telling them to cut it out.Â
âweâre going upstairs.â you grabbed tomâs arm, pulling him away from the looks your friends were sending. he followed you up the wooden steps and into your room. he looked around at your room as you closed the door.Â
you sat cris-cross on the bed, waving towards the desk chair and the bed, âyou can sit wherever.â
he nodded, opting for the desk chair, âthanks.â
you sent him a soft smile, âso, whatâs up?â
âso, iâve been thinking about what you said in the car last night, the whole âfake datingâ thing,â he started, taking a pause to make sure you understood what he was talking about. when you nodded, he continued, âwhat if we 'fake-dated' each other? i mean, i know itâs kind of crazy beings we barely know each other, but you said itâs better to choose someone who knows itâs fake and someone who could also benefit from it. plus, you said you wanted to make your ex jealous too. you check all of the boxes.â
you raised an eyebrow, âi⊠i uh-â
âi know, i'm sorry to just kind of throw it all onto you at once, but iâve been thinking about it since last night. i mean, you are the mastermind, right?â he smirked and you rolled your eyes playfully.Â
at the end of the day, how bad could it be?
âwhat if i say no?â
he was silent for a second, âi didnât really think youâd be opposed.â
you let out a sigh, why am i doing this?Â
âokay, fine, you have a deal,â you extended your hand out for him to shake, when he reached for it, you pulled your hand back. he shot you a confused look.
âhowever, weâre doing it by my rules.â
he shook your hand, âdeal.â
you pointed to the notepad and the pen on your desk, âcan you hand me that, please?â
he nodded, grabbing the paper and pen off the desk. you turned to a blank page, writing at the top of the page.Â
fake dating rules:
âokay, number one,â you said, tapping the pen against the notebook as you thought about the first rule. when it came to your mind, you immediately started writing it down, âno strings attached. this is simply just to get back at our shitty exes.â
he nodded, âoh, you have to come to my games and the hockey team parties. gotta make it look like youâre an actual supportive girlfriend.â
"the games i'm alright with, but the parties?" you scrunched your face up. he gave you a look, but softened when he came to an agreement.
"okay, not all of them, but most of them."
you rolled your eyes, "fine."
you wrote down what he said as rule number two, âanything else?â
âone âdateâ per week. we get to know more about each other so it doesnât seem suspicious to anyone we talk to about our ârelationshipâ.â
you wrote it down, adding the last rule in all capital letters and underlined it, âno one knows itâs a fake relationship. absolutely no one.â
he nodded in agreement, watching as you made makeshift signature lines. you passed him the notebook as he let out a soft laugh, taking the pen from your grip. he signed on his line, your signature going next to his.Â
âso itâs settled, girlfriend.â you smiled, âitâs settled, boyfriend.â

Taken - Tom Holland
Tears threaten to spill as you watched his arm snake around her waist. Of course heâs a liar, all the boys that you like are. What else did u expect, this was THE Tom Holland and THE Zendaya. It didnât matter how many times heâd told you he loved you and ONLY you, heâd always go back to her. It didnât matter how many times heâd rolled over in bed and called you âhis girlâ, heâll always belong to her.
And so there you were, standing there just off the red carpet for Spider-Man: No way home sadness washing over you, watching the man you loved, the man you had given up everything for look at another woman the way you looked at him. Waiting there in your slightly too big, glittery, purple prom dress (thatâs all you could afford on your salary) watching Tom in his multi thousand dollar tuxedo and Zendaya in her low-cut spider web design ankle length dress feeling just as insecure as you did when you were 15, watching your boyfriend of the time cheat on you with your best friend.
Finally Tom made eye contact with you. He gave you an annoyed and tired look then smirked as if he was telling you that heâd finally got the girl of his dreams. With that you left not wanting to make your self endure the mental pain any longer.

You know what kind of DiaLuci fic Iâm in the mood for rn?
A superhero au but more like Henry Danger than Marvel.
Diavolo as Ray/Captain Man, Mammon as Kid Danger/Henry, Levi first finding out who Kid Danger is then Satan (Ik Satan is smart but I kinda want Levi to be the first to find out cuz Iâm in love with Mammon and Levi being as one of the best brother duos) and Lucifer as Henryâs mom (but instead of being married, he was engaged for a few months before finding out his fiancĂ (one e, not two) was cheating) đ€
Diavolo and Mammon first meeting each other being the same as Henry Danger but changing it up a little with the fake job/shop. Mammon is still in high school, Lucifer is an adult (obviously) Barbatos obviously being the one to alert Diavolo about the crimes and looking out for the lair, Lucifer doesnât know who is under the mask but finds the man kinda attractive (having a crush on him only after he ended his engagement), maybe sneak a little sex scene between Diavolo (as a hero) and Lucifer, but of course, Lucifer is oblivious to Mammonâs actual job.
Only reason Iâm in the mood for it is bc Iâm currently watching Henry Danger and Iâm literally on season 1 đ just cuz of an edit on TikTok got my interest and then wanting to see the scenes with Henryâs mom and Ray/Captain Man (and his crush on her cuz itâs just somewhat funny to me)
Ok but like, out of genuine curiosity, am I the only one who gets so inspired by a show/movie Iâm currently watching and just wanting to make a DiaLuci version out of it??
Supernatural, The Office, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Outer Banks, Superman (Tom Holland), Jurassic World (where Lucifer is Claire, Diavolo as Owen, and the two boys as Mammon and Levi, the others are with Simeon back home), and a lot more that I canât even think of them all rn.
I have so many DiaLuci fics in my notes but I havenât even finished a single one, not even the first chapter đ I think thereâs one that has been sitting in my notes since (late??) 2022. A majority of them only having a little bit of writing in it like atp why do I still even have them if Iâm not going to finish any of them or even work on them??
