Hiii again!!
These are my drawings from my first post, and I thought I would post them separately, as their kinda cute 🌙🤍🌟
This is an aged up version of the Gaang, except Zuko, because he was busy being the fire lord to travel with them. My head-cannon is that this is set a couple of years after the comics, so they’re just about young adults.
I might redraw it once I get a better grip on procreate, and know my own way around it.
These were my first finished drawings on digital, and I’m honestly pretty proud, and I like! And I hope you’ll like it too!

Hey there, Beifong family enthusiast!
Who's your favorite Beifong? And who do you ship them with?
First of all, I already love you to the 'yue' and back for this ♡ Ty, I'm virtually holding your hand rn!
"Who's your favorite Beifong?" Now that.. requires a huge @$$ long answer, babe! Grab a coffee and seat down. ☕️ — I have three different answers to this, organized by category, because I can't simply just choose one Beifong, so.. ◇ My favorite based on "emotional attachment" is definitely Suyin (kinda of an unpopular choice). I simply can't help but love every aspect of her, she's so beautiful, bright and collected - I love how against all odds she overcame her traumas the healthiest way she could, rebuilt her whole life, never gave up on reconnecting with the people she loved and missed after all, etc. I have an immense amount of respect for her - she's the personification of growth, maturity and forgiveness. And I love that for her for many reasons! Her adult self reminds me a bit of Sokka in a way, that probably helped to establish my "emotional attachment" towards her as well! ◇ My favorite based on "complexity and strength" would be obviously Lin. Lin is the character I validate and understand the most too, I enjoy analyzing her whole story and personality. I'm a Psychology student, so it makes sense to me that I loved her instantly and so much (apart from being a Toph seed), she was presented to us as the typical tough character ofc but I was amazed how many layers she turned out to have, how profound and complicated her traumas, choices and path turned out to be. I love and respect Lin for reasons that are completely different from Su (they are completely opposites). Lin's psychological strength (physical too, ofc), courage and endlessly emphaty always get me. I would fight anyone just to protect her! ◇ And of course, my number one girl.. Ultimate Favorite in the entire franchise.. the ORIGINAL Beifong; TOPH!! I don't even think I need to explain myself on this one, do I?? Everything I listed about her daughters comes from Toph Beifong and even her imperfections are kinda perfect to me, she is one of the most brilliant characters in the franchise hand down. In fact I believe their daughters inherited a lot of Toph's values, beliefs and characteristics. They are her legacy in a way, probably part of the reason I love them so much too. But anyways.
That's my favorite Beifong; TophLinSu!♡
"And who do you ship them with?" That's piece of cake! For Su; Suyin/Baatar Sr. ◇ For Lin; Linzin & Kyalin, maybe Linzumi too — I do think Lin & Tenzin are soulmates who could never be though (This is actually a can of worms, 'cause I have A LOT to say regarding this entire ship!). ◇ And for Toph; Tokka yesterday, Tokka today and Tokka for always!♡ I can't actually picture Toph with anyone else, for some reason. I tried (with her other love interests and all).. But It's just not it for me. Kanto we've never even seen & Satoru was more of a simp - nothing against it but it kills the mood for me that he's a fanboy who'd spend their whole relationship praising her & kissing the ground she steps on, not into that for Toph (or any human being) in a relationship. — While with Sokka (even tho it was just a childhood crush & he was a bit older) I think they were a perfect match for a future relationship; They were opposites in the right amount, but also pretty similar (in terms of sense of humor and some values). I love how they completed each other in their dynamic, how Sokka was so kind, supportive and understanding - they had a real profound bond and he was always offering to help her out (if needed) or trying to protect her, even tho she hated to be treated like that; he was her exception. And Toph genuinely respected him (jokes apart) & would consider his opinions, even embracing his stupid ideas. It was simple and sweet. Not to mention the fact that Sokka would never pick fights with her (not that I remember), whenever Katara would ask him to intervene in their fights he'd be like "Nah, leave me out of this" and I do think that that's what intrigued Toph, he would listen to her & validate her feelings since Day 1. Then we cut to TLOK; at Yakone's trial when Sokka is giving that sentenced speech and start praising Toph for developing the Metalbending skill by herself; his facial expression immediately changes to something more affectionate (genuinely smiling at her), then Old Toph telling Korra about when she taught Aang earthbending and feeling the need to mention what happened to Sokka that day (should've been insignificant, but she kept that memory from that day) and then Suyin & Lin's small details or characteristics that were related to Sokka in ATLA (Like their usage of adapted metal swords to fight, Su's collection of meteorites, how Sokka was always praising Toph for inventing the Metalbending and later Su building a whole city out of it where Toph's achievement would be praised and immortalized for once and all, not to mention Su & some members of the family looking like Sokka, I'm pretty sure that was purposely done by the creators in a way to keep Sokka's design, idk & it makes me the happiest that it was done in the Beifong family). It's impossible not to acknowledge the impact Sokka had on Toph, they truly loved each other and loved being around each other. Romantically or not, canon or not - it's impossible for me not to ship them.♡

Count it off!
It just occurred to me. Thanks to various canons over the years, TMNT media now has enough mutant turtle characters that we could make a fighting game with the full roster, at minimum, to consist of nothing but turtles.
There's the balanced character
Tumblr media
The speedster
Tumblr media
The defensive fighter
Tumblr media
The glass cannon
Tumblr media
The berserker
Tumblr media
The glacier
Tumblr media
The spellcaster
Tumblr media
And the assassin

you know what. facts time
why your ship isn't canon:
zutara - the show is a) not 7 seasons long to fit all that development and b) not titled The Last (Southern) Waterbender. but you guys ignored those facts, took every zuko interaction and made it yours. and I can respect that.
tokka - bataar jr does indeed look like sokka and there was a blush that one time but unfortunately it is a little known fact that beifongs just. happen. (lao and poppy are outliers- married to become even richer together and to avoid talking to other rich people at boring parties. but make no mistake toph was brought by a badgermole)
mailee - the creators were cowards
zukka - the creators were cowards
tyzula - can only work as role play flirting and that would really strain the actresses' vocal cords, be nice
taang - do people really wanna see two little girls fall in love
sokkla - the visual would've been lethal to everyone around (except maybe aang and momo. appa would've eaten someone tho. crunch)
jetara - here comes the boy with his wheat and confidence and eyebrows. an actual threat to kaatang, sentenced to death by rock (the ONLY time someone is hit with a boulder and doesn't brush it off)
jetko - the comedic potential of this one was too great to make the final cut
azulaang - sir this is a kids show
azutara - ......zero surviors. the recording booth is either frozen or cinders. damn
azuredeem - the creators can't write that far
azufirenationempireclassbattleship - the creators were COWARDS

What Your Ship Says About You
It’s so interesting how certain ship fandoms behave relative to their characters.
Zutara fans are deeply passionate and ready to fight at any moment. They don’t care what canon (authority) says, they’ll fight them too. They also have very creative souls and explore possibilities that others wouldn’t have even considered. However they can be hotheaded and their passion can turn to aggression. Just like Zuko and Katara.
Kataang fans are more peaceful usually, content to bask in the zen of being canon. But if you drag them into a fight, they’ll bring the fury like they’re in the Avatar State! They strive to find coherency for the canon couple and accept what they cannot change rather than fight a fruitless battle. Just like Aang and Katara.
Ty Zula fans are fierce and sometimes they say things that don’t make sense to others because it’s based on “vibes” (auras). But if you insult them, they’ll come at you with the full force of their collective might. Just like Ty Lee and Azula.
Toko/Zutoph fans don’t care about the rules and are happy to enjoy their ship without feeling the need to defend it as canon. They’ll hit you over the head with their love for the ship in their memes or stealthily lure you in with fanart. Under their rash surface though, there’s some heartbreaking and vulnerable metas. Just like Toph and Zuko.
Zukka fans are just fun. Although sometimes there’s the occasion where they slip into taking themselves too seriously, and need to remember they have nothing to prove. They’re fine the way they are even if it’s not canon. Just like Zuko and Sokka.
Sukka fans are lovely and I haven’t ever seen them start fights with anyone, and yet Bryke continues to do them dirty and neglect them, even going so far as to imply this ship has broken up. Just like Suki and Sokka.
Maiko fans handle criticisms with smug dismissal and apathy a lot of the time, but set them off and you’ll see another side. It has ardent defenders but most of it seems like a defensive reaction against much more stable ships. Just like Mai and Zuko.
Taang fans are myths of epic proportion. Can’t tell if they never existed or if they simply vanished. Just like Toph and Aang.
Tokka fans are fun and most people will get along with them. But if you’re one of the few to get on their nerves or find them annoying? You’re gonna have a bad time. Just like Toph and Sokka.
Sokkla fans are tactical. They don’t usually get in fights for the ship, they just slowly lower your defenses with beautiful fan art. Sneaking in past your walls, once they’re in they’ll bring the receipts with their metas and brainwash you to their side. Just like Sokka and Azula.
Ty Suki fans are perfect and correct and deserve a giant gay island all to themselves and their girlfriends. Just like Ty Lee and Suki.

Honestly seeing (mostly kataang and maiko shippers but not just them) say ppl need to move on from what Bryke did with book 4 air makes me genuinely mad.
When I first started watching the show I was basically bullied out the fandom for drawing Zutara fanart. I was either 11 or 12 at the time and it was during 2020. A bunch of people older than me were mocking me for my fanart, not even because it was bad (not that if they did it would have been justified) no, because it was of a ship they like. I was called a whole bunch of colourful names and slurs and got accused of some horrible things just for liking Zutara and it did affect me.
Now, imagine 12 year old me finding and watching Book 4, do you think that just because that was in 2008 it didn't affect me? No! Of course it did! If anything it made me feel worse, so much so I left the fandom for two years and I only got back into ATLA when I was 14, even then I have only recently started engaging with the fandom again. Just because it occurred in 2008 doesn't mean it doesn't affect people now and I'm sure I'm not the only kid who has been discouraged by that video. If you were a kid at the time or not, the video can and has had an affect on people.
Also, it's not like Bryke were kids when they did that, no, they were full grown adults using children's fanart to mock them. It was disgusting and the fact they have never apologized, as far as I know, is gross. It doesn't matter how long ago it happened because it happened and still affects people, I don't think people should be forced to move on just because you believe that it isn't a big deal or it was ages ago so they should be forgiven. If you don't care that's fine, but don't try to force people to feel different to how they feel.
If your a Zutara shipper who's fanart was in that video, I am genuinely so fucking sorry. That is horrible and I can't imagine how it could have affected you. I know if I was in your situation I would still be upset about it to this day because of how discouraging the video was. I know your probably not reading this but if you are I feel for you.
Also I'm writing this after trying for about two hours to complete the gosh darn pachinko machine level in super Mario sunshine so if I sound a bit emotionally charged it's because I have just spend the past two of so hours in agony ✌️
Edit: I forgot about the Azulaang and Tokka scenes in the video since I hadn't watched it in ages, you guys too I'm so sorry, that was so cruel for you guys too.

Venus in my interation :33
More info under cut‼️
Venus or Vee for short
She/it maybe, idk her sexuality or gender at the time of making this
She's a Leatherback sea turtle, Wolverine frog and red eye tree frog all Frankensteined into one with the help of some "super" mutagen
Her style is a combination of Visual kei goth and Frankensteins bride
Age is unkown but physically older then all the turtles. She's a black and white thinker, and sometimes gullible and easily manipulated
She sees Baxter(her creator)as a father and calls him that, he's the one to manipulate her the most and has a somewhat toxic relationship with her with his unhealthy clinginess while still enforcing the thought of her needing him and nobody will love her like he does. She takes care of Tokka and Rahzar as if they were her own brothers
Out of all the turtles it's only close to Donnie, none of the others including Mikey trust her but Donnie has hope that she'll change. I gave them somehow of a 2012 Donnie and Pulverizer relationship to fill the void but more of Donnie considering Venus as a sibling, older then them or not

The first half of atla comics written by Gene Yang weren't bad because he shipped zutara. They were bad because he just wasn't that good of a writer(for Avatar, at least I haven't read any of his other works). Like shipping aside all the characters were ooc and their stories were taken in poor directions. Yes through his writing there was bad kataang and maiko moments but there was also bad zutara moments. First of all they barley interact at all and secondly one of the only times they do interact zuko manhandled katara to the point were she said he was hurting her. Does that rlly sound like an ideal zutara moment to you? No.
A lot of the times reading those comics is just sitting there thinking to yourself "their ass would not do or say that" not only about zuko in that moment but also about aang, katara, mai, azula, sokka, etc.
Most writers have their own shipping preferences like the current atla comic writer, Faith Erin Hicks, ships tokka. Her comics, although not perfect, are much better than Gene Yang, and it has nothing to do with her ships but just because she understands the characters better.

my god tier order to watch tmnt in is this:
watch rise to get into it and fall in love w the concept, then watch it all chronologically.
when i say chronologically i DO NOT mean 87 -> 1990 -> Secret of the ooze -> TMNT 3 -> 2003 i mean watch 87 until you hit the release date of 1990, then keep watching 87 till you hit the release of secret of the ooze, go back to watching 87, then watch TMNT 3 then finish 87.
the reason being the show predates the movies but the show goes on for 10 years so at some point movie stuff is referenced in the show (like the characters referencing "who would watch a MOVIE about TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES", tokka and rahzar showing up, etc)
and its the same for every other show, 03 comes before 07, but 07 is referenced (in style) in s7. 12 predates the bayverse movies, but the bayverse movies are referenced in 12 later on. so take breaks in each show to watch the movies that come out in between seasons.
and dont skip the next mutation. even if you dont like it, watch it because it finishes out the goofy vibes of the 90s so you can appreciate what comes after it. also cuz your brain will be broken already cuz red sky seasons are a boring slog (which you ALSO cannot skip because they are referenced later on) so you'll appreciate the light-hearted goofs.
like i cannot stress this enough, youll have a better time and more appreciation for the franchise if you experience it in the order it all came out cuz you get to watch it grow! then watch rise again and you'll see how much of the essence of the characters is in there.
although my one cop out to the chronological thing is end it with Batman vs TMNT, as you'll end on a fun amalgamation of the characters which will bring you a lot of joy

87 Splinter is being hard to write because his thing is being Wise and Calm, but out of all Splinters he should be the least prepared for the stuff he winds up guiding the turtles through. He's just a guy who was teaching his clan's ancestral martial arts for cultural reasons. It doesn't seem like he was ever a soldier or a crime-fighter, definitely not an assassin (87 just straight up ignores what ninjas actually are a lot of the time). Despite his insistance on calling Shredder his "ancient enemy" Shredder was a surprise, there wasn't an evil guy who needed fighting until Splinter's student suddenly betrayed him and allied with an alien warlord.
Some of Splinter being Calm and Wise and always knowing the Right Thing To Do has to be a pose, right? He can't be feeling Calm and Wise all the time. He can't always be sure he's doing the right thing, although he certainly never apologises when he ends up hurting the turtles with his lessons.
Considering how gentle he is towards the turtles 90% of the time I feel like it must be intended for their sake. In an uncertain world he thinks they need an authority that can always tell them the right thing to do. His own uncertainty is something he can't show (and the few times we do see him uncertain it's on missions, especially ones where the turtles aren't present).
When I think about it the turtles are darling little guys, but they're also bigger than Splinter, capable of ripping through sheet metal, and went straight from animals to adolescents. Maybe that's another reason why he can be rigid about the moral code he imposes on them and about his own authority. We see mutants like Tokka and Rahzar and Slash who can cause a lot of damage without real ill-will just because they were suddenly thrown into a world they were unprepared for without guidance. Even though the turtles are never accepted into society properly, Splinter is very insistent on them seeing themselves as part of society, emphasising their usefulness to others as something they should be glad of. (Which actually strikes me as a very Japanese attitude, but since it's also an attitude seen in a lot of 80's cartoons that's probably a coincidence. It's certainly a contrast to the morals seen in Rise about "being yourself" and how it's a mistake to try to conform.)
I'm left with the feeling he'd be a very interesting character if the narrative didn't always go out of its way to agree with him. But I'm also at a loss for how he'd handle the kind of situations the narrative of his own show would never put him in.
