It had been a few hours since they strung him up from the rusted metal pillars of the old warehouse. At first Whiskey had tried to stand on his own despite the unbearable pain on his ankle, screaming and taunting and calling them every swear word in the book.

As the minutes ticked into hours, however, that veneer of bravado slowly decayed until there was only exhaustion and pain left. He's too proud to beg, but it's clear he's faltering. By the time Baxter finally arrived, he was unconscious.

"Did I miss all the fun?" He laughs, tosses his jacket aside in a show of excitement. A balled fist connects straight to his captive's broken ribs. The lack of response makes him try again, kicking the compromised ankle out from under him. No response either.

Before he can escalate the behavior, Baxter is interrupted by a smug looking man. Joseph.

"Might wanna cut it out for a sec there, Bax. Not worth spending all your energy just yet."

"He in there?"

"Hard to say. The lights are on but…seems like no one's home. If he's lucky he won't wake up again."

Lucky. Joseph thinks the mutt is lucky. What a joke. How's that been working out for him?

"He'll wake up. Might as well give him something nice to wake up to, don'tcha think?"

Another punch connects.

they are actually really good games. some of the love interests are really profound and moving characters, some are annoying assholes from hell, some are regular guys and some are really fun and cute.

Just realise that TMGS3 that got ported to switch is the ds version and not the psp premium version…that’s sucks :/ like there’s no live2d, no angel/devil mode, no special after date scene where you got those mini “episode” thingy, no boy’s life so you can see what those boys are doing, no extra cg & adv and you can’t unlock the exclusive secret character??????? Konami is so ass, it’s too bad because GS3 is peak!!! 😭

Also they didn’t change much of GS1 and 2, they’re not different from the original version. The homemade chocolate mini game sucks and the boys are as sensitive as ever in GS1 especially when you’re going after Kei’s route…

As for GS4 imo it’s just plain bad…especially because of the dlcs, it’s just not worth it 🥲

Bought some Tokimeki Memorial Girl’s Side 4 x Sanrio Characters collab goods today

I headed over to the nearest Animate to buy these floating pens. The images on the inside of the pen move as you tilt the pen. You also get a random AR postcard for every 1100 yen spent. I scanned the QR code, and though I was going to see a 3D model of the guy as per the 3DS’ AR cards, but all it did was to just overlay the guy’s portrait over a camera app for you to take photos with. And apparently it’ll only last sometime until June 2023. The links don’t seem to be unique/one-use, so if you want to take pictures with them, here are the links from the QR codes:

Vic presses knuckles to aching eyes, rubbing until he sees technicolor in the blackness, blotting out the constant flicker of information in his heads-up display just for a second. It’s been making him lowkey disoriented all day—like, it’s like it’s one of those optical illusion things where he swears there’s a pattern in the data, but it disappears the second he looks directly at it. Christ. Leave it to him to code himself into a migraine.

You good? Despite being right next to him, Rex’s voice comes over their private comm channel instead, low and steady into his brain. He breathes out, willing his heart rate to regulate.

Yeah, he sends back. Just need to defrag or somethin’. Tired.

Rex grunts, but doesn’t press it. He’s unnaturally still, posture ramrod straight thanks to the steel alloy drilled into his spine and the discipline drilled into his soul, the metronome twitch of his bladed tail-tip the only giveaway that something’s alive in that hulking body. He’s telegraphing, Vic realizes, projecting his stable vitals across their connection, trying to coax Vic’s deep-fried nervous system back into the green like one of those dogs they make hang out with cheetahs in the zoo.

It’s very sweet. And it’s very not working.

He absently chews at a fingernail as the display chatters away in his periphery. Coordinates, wind speed, adrenal output, H̴̩̔Ę̶̏L̵͈̍L̶͎̚O̸͇͗ ̴̪͊T̸̗͒H̶̥́E̸̤̽Ȑ̴̙E̵̞͘, ammo load—hold the fuck up.

His eye twitches.

…Hey, jack in here with me for a sec. Seein’ ghosts.

Rex doesn’t respond, digital or analog.

Big Dog. Yoo-hoo. Read me?

Nothing. For the first time in months, Vic’s alone in his head. He’s suddenly very aware of the eerie stillness of the oven-hot desert air, of the beads of sweat sliding down his back under his flak vest, of the silent ringing building in his ears.

“Rex, something’s…” He trails off as the display begins to expand, filling more of his vision, error messages stacking up. CONNECTION UNSTABLE. CONNECTION LOST. RECALIBRATING. H̴̩̔Ę̶̏L̵͈̍L̶͎̚O̸͇͗ .

No. Fuck. God. No. This can’t be happening. His stomach clenches, mouth going dry. Their chrome is clean, he wiped everything himself, rebuilt their mainframes from the ground up with Vargas and Bjornsson’s help. Mal’s gone, he can’t hurt them anymore he can’t he can’t he—

CONNECTION LOST. H̴̢̃e̶͎͛l̴̬͌l̷̗̐ơ̷ͅ. H̶̼̑ę̴̓llo. Hello, Montez. He can’t hear you. It’s just you and me.

Instinct sends him to the ground a millisecond before the gunfire does. He doesn’t even hear the shots ring out—his fucking audio is offline—and his field of vision is compromised, errors on glitches on errors, but not enough to save him from seeing Rex’s back arch unnaturally, arterial spray vivid against the acid-blue sky as his body spins, then falls, bare meters away from Vic. It might as well be miles.

He’s alone. And he can’t even scream.
