One hell of a chapter, the horikoshi foreshadowing paid off and toga gut checks ochako with her knife. Tsu and jirou are getting fucked up as kamui does his best to hold out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We get more flashbacks for toga and she was a really fucking weird kid while her parents handled it about as well as we expected. The impromptu therapy session is also going as well as we expected with toga stabbing ochako, but ochako is still gonna gamble on toga anyway and try to reach out to her.
The jirou and tsu togas look horrifying, they got those feral and crazy eyes. Tsu feels a bit shoehorned in here but it is interesting to see her take on ochako gambling with toga. Also the paralleling shot with hawks back when he confronted twice does a nice job of setting up the old heroes being realistic contrasting with the new shonen generation.
It's wild the parade is still this potent even though they can't use their quirks, they're basically just crushing the heroes under waves of meat. Really makes you wonder how the first war would have gone if twice had pulled off his parade, probably total victory for afo honestly.
Like the little twice asking her about a villain name, reminds me of bakugo and his waiting for best jeanist to reveal his hero name. It's a nice touch.
Lol of course horikoshi had to have the twice toga grab uraraka by the titty.
This will probably wrap up in the next chapter or two, and honestly I'm pretty happy with it. While it certainly feels like toga and ochako are getting the shaft I think it works in their favor, if they had cut the todofam arc back a couple chapters they probably both would have been the perfect length and felt more balanced. In a good way. I'm happy with how things have gone and I'm excited to see where toga ends up

BNHA 407 : AFO is a lying liar who lies
Today is a very sad day because I am about to do something I genuinely dislike: I am about to defend All for One. In order to cope, I shall make fun of him the whole time.
AFO and Yoichi's backstory is finally out, with AFO narrating it, and there are two possibilities: he is either completely lying about it (boring) or he is lying a little about it (very in-character for him) because he is also lying to himself.
Lie number 1: AFO was born evil.
The narrator (AFO, seriously, it's AFO) says things such as "The baby drained the lifeforce of both his mom and his brother.", "It was born an arrogant baby." and such but it really reads at AFO villifying himself to add to his own legend.
Tumblr media
That's what babies do. Children, before they're born, kinda have to take their strength from their mother. That's why pregnant people aren't supposed to do anything taxing.
AFO and Yoichi's mother didn't die because baby AFO drained her like a vampire. She died because she was a homeless woman who had access to nothing and had to go in labor alone.
Tumblr media
Same thing here: during twin birth, a twin is often bigger than the other (well, probably not to extent of Yoichi and AFO, but you get my point).
Lie number 2: AFO, as a demon baby, is shown killing for no reason, just because he can.
Tumblr media
(First slaughter by Baby AFO shown in that chapter.)
There are two things that are strange in this scene (apart from... you know.... a baby murdering people...)
AFO had no reason to go after them because they don't have any quirks to steal.
It makes no sense for someone to attack a group of people with nothing to gain. I doubt that's the kind of behavior you have when you're in survival mode as you're barely surviving in the street.
However, a previous panel points at some context we might be missing.
Tumblr media
The same panel that indicates that those guys don't have a quirk to steal also shows that they are wiling to do some "preventive attack" on a bunch of quirked people who might or might not be those who assaulted a protest group (reminder that in this context, that protest group are protesting the rights for quirked people to exist).
I could be wrong but odds are that they did something to be qualified as a threat to All for One and we are missing the additional context.
Tumblr media
(Second slaughter by Baby AFO shown in that chapter.)
Now, the poor souls who just got absolutely wrecked by a toddler wearing what I suspect to be a garbage bag have quirks, which makes more sense than the previous scene.
However (and thank you for @aimportantdragoncollector for pointing that out to me), we also have this panel.)
Tumblr media
Yoichi is shown with bruises on his face and might be broken teeth.
Probably because those same people AFO is shown killing attacked him.
Lie number 3: AFO never loved Yoichi because he can't love, he just considered that he was his. That's all. Nothing more.
Tumblr media
(Just... Just ignore the rats.)
AFO didn't care about Yoichi so much that the very conscious first act of his life might have been to swim a river upstream while dragging his brother above the surface with what must have been the deathgrip of all deathgrip.
Tumblr media
AFO didn't care about his brother so much that Yoichi was fed and clothed by an AFO who was malnourished enough for his ribs to show and who wore what's basically an improvised toga.
But he just keeps sacrificing what little he has for someone he doesn't care about one bit, that's just his first possession. Nothing more.
Tumblr media
Okay, I am going to be clear: anyone who sees that panel and thinks that it's the proof AFO didn't like his brother... You just outed yourself as an only child.
Siblings punt each other for no reason. (There is a reason why the first recorded murderer was an older sibling.) In this case, the reason was Yoichi throwing a can at him.
Tumblr media
AFO: "You're not inviting me to a fun activity? You're leaving me out, in the cold, unable to partake in brother bonding activity? Oh, vault for Little Brother! Vault for Little Brother for one thousand years!"
Tumblr media
AFO: "Nevermind, we're reading together. All is well, I guess."
Lie number 3: AFO killed the glowing baby for power, because he could, or because the Glowing Baby didn't deserve it
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Still laughing about AFO's flawless reasoning... "Comic books heroes' life suck. Better to be a villain. I already did the whole struggle thing, I want an easy life."
AFO killed the glowing baby because he was jealous. It's as simple as that. The glowing baby was considered the first official quirked individual (even though it's not true), was protected by his family (if I remember correctly, the mother of quirks was his mom) while AFO and Yoichi had no one but each other (EDIT: I was wrong, the Mother of Quirks was Destro's mother. thanks to the people in the tags), and had a ton of people following him (while, for some strange reason, people start running away screaming when AFO shows his quirk... What a mystery...).
The last panel was basically AFO saying "I want to be loved' but not having the frame of reference to even know what love is.
In conclusion...
While AFO is definitely a bad guy and a monster, he didn't begin his existence as one. He just wants people to believe that. Because his pride and his ego can't allow him to admit that he lived a childhood full of horrible trauma where he was a victim abandoned by society (to an even greater extent than the LOV) or he would probably combust out of rage and mortification.
Ergo facto, AFO is a lying liar who lies, especially to himself.

Fundamental Flaws
So one interesting thing i noticed about the League's flaws, is that the things that kept them from working together at the start, remained the basic flaws that prevented them from helping each other overcome their own flaws.
Namely that they all joined together out of convinience, and they never really got to the level where that actually changed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Himiko joins the league, she introduces herself with her seemingly rather confusing motives, namely that she wants a world that is easier for her to live in.
Tumblr media
Shigaraki does not understand her wishes at all, and of course lashes out shortly after this after dabi has introduced himself as well, having deemed both of them as not the sort he wants to hang around him.
Tumblr media
Dabi by contrast doesnt even try to explain his motives or goals beyond the very vague "fullfill stain's will."
Tumblr media
The end result of this is that Shigaraki doesnt even attempt to understand either, and decides to just kill them.
The funny thing is... this kinda attitude never really changes.
Tumblr media
Compress even notes it as one of the main reasons he loved the league so much. it didnt pry into his backstory and just took him in regardless.
This attitude is what managed to bring the league together as a force... but it also prevented them from truly truly growing as a group.
Tumblr media
Because of the fact nobody wanted or even tried to learn each other's backstories and deeper motivations, none of them ever managed or tried to Help Dabi make a possible future for himself where he could get his vengeance on Endeavor, and still get to live afterwards, instead they just let him burn on, even encouraging him to do so, with the end result that he came to a hellish innevitable march towards death.
Tumblr media
Dabi himself tried to help Toga emotionally by setting her childhood home ablaze and rally her heart towards vengeance and freedom, because that's what he is motivated by, but he completely failed to understand what she actually wanted out of life, the reason why out of the entire league, the only person she was able to transform into was Twice, because he was the only one who actually tried to understand her.
Tumblr media
This in turn means that Toga ultimately ended up seeking what she truely wanted amongst the heroes, and finally found in uraraka, what she had been afraid to seek/never got from most of the league.
Tumblr media
Something that ultimately cost them the war.
Tumblr media
this is best showcased when Shigaraki actually lays out his motivations and feelings for villainy, and the rest of his crew(other than spinner) is either completely disinterested, dissapointed or confused.
None of them actually cares about Shigaraki's motives other than spinner, not even Twice.
Tumblr media
only spinner and the doctor(who doesnt give a shit about Shigaraki himself) actually cares at all.
Tumblr media
of the rest, the only one who even attempts to understand Shigaraki is Toga, and not because she cares about how he feels about it, but because she begun to realise that her goals and interests are ultimately incompatible with shigaraki's(something that would come to fruition during the final arc).
Tumblr media
Out of the league, the only one who even tried to understand and did care about shigaraki's motives, and attempted to figure out how they allign with his own wishes, is spinner, and it's not a coincidence that at the very end, he is the only one Shigaraki left his final words to, even if Shigaraki loved the other main members of the league.
Tumblr media
The five people Shigaraki Tomura truly cared about in his hearts of hearts at the end... But even here where his feelings are laid bare, there is also another, sad truth.
Kurogiri, the man who effectively cared for Shigaraki as his own son isnt included amongst them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kurogiri is a rather complicated character, but it's clear by his final words, that he truly loved the league, just like compress did, and hoped they would be reunited in whatever came next.
It's not clear WHY shigaraki felt like this(maybe once he learned the man was a Nomu that pretty much sealed his ability to think of him as an actual person) but it goes to hammer in the fact that the league was just on a fundamental level not able to try to reach out and understand the motivations of each other.
Tumblr media
the main exception to this, and the only one who seems to at least have wanted to understand everyone else is Twice, withouth any doubt the true heart of the League of Villains. The only one who everyone, even cold, brutal dabi considered a close friend.
he is the only one who understood Toga, who always opened his heart bare for the entire league, and when it seemed Hawks was about to join that number, he did everything he could to make him feel welcome and to actually understand what hawks was teaching him.
it's not a coincidence that it is when he dies, that the league really begins to come loose at the seams.
Tumblr media
Dabi completely loses it in a way he hasnt done since the time he snapped and tried to kill shoto as a baby, and afterwards any and all morals and reservations completely evaporates in his heart, which is is replaced by a fire that doesnt go out until he literarily cant do anything anymore, having become a burnt out husk.
Tumblr media
Toga as to confront the fact that she is living in a fantasy and has to actually commit to the league and it's goals or go her own way.
Tumblr media
Mr compress tries to step up to fill in the void Twice left behind, but the grandpa of the group ultimately realizes that somebody is gonna have to sacrifice it all, and decides that like any good father figure, the duty will fall to him. Thus any wisdom he might have been able to impart to the next generation is lost when he becomes the next leaguer to fall right after twice.
But he could have shared these bits of wisdom at any time before this... his goals, his background, the origins of his unique insight into the world. But he didnt. only here, at the very end is he willing to put all of his cards on the table for the league he loved so much.
Tumblr media
Spinner doubles down of his friendship to shigaraki, but in the process lets all of his other relationships in the league falter in the hour when they matter the most, when everyone needs to stick together, and by doing so ultimately fails shigaraki as well by not reaching out to him as he's suffering.
Tumblr media
Withouth twice and compress, Shigaraki in his most critical hour, when the question of wheter he or AFO will rule this new body, has nobody who has no reservations about reaching out to him to try to be his emotinal support, with all the rest of the league literarily just standing by listening/staring at this mental battle as he suffers.
In essence, all of the leagues problems and weaknesses could have been solved if they had actually been willing to talk to each other to understand their respective ideas and goals in life.
Instead, they did the opposite of what the members of 1-A and aizawa did, and let everything foster and grow until the rot destroyed all of them from the inside out.

MHA chapter 419 rant
What the actual hell is this chapter ?!?!?!? What is going on horikoshi?!?!??
So suprise AFO IS BACK👎👎👎 seriously what the hell I knew he was gonna come back but he is so boring and I hate him as a villain like wdym you only pulling up with a plan that failed multiple times cos you have thing for your brother like!?!? The doctor and the hero comission could of been better villains. My point still stands AFO being the main bad guy even though this mf was killed and injured by everyone is lame and stupid 😭. Like can AFO just disappear out of existence already like?!?! Also I really doubt that dfo is true considering this guy just loves to act like a season 1 bakugo and call Izuku useless every breathing moment he gets. Also at this point afo out here using shigaraki like a wet human suit thing and that's it
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shigaraki is dead?!?!!!? Vile. Y'all telling me that shigaraki is basically dead this guy basically killed himself after a little fight (it wasn't little that's a hyperbole it was huge he deserves better than this disservice) sigh so shigaraki died with all his memories and the truth of his own origin which is completely sad and wow the amount of retconning for this is insane. Wdym to tell me that AFO needed someone emotionally weak to take advantage of so he chose kotaro, befriended the guy and manipulated him into having Tenko and then used Tenko as his little thing to make the perfect vessel!?!???!? DAM SHIGARAKI IAM SORRRY HORI DID YOU LIKE THIS
Tumblr media
Izuku lost two arms and is getting the worst end of the stick as always. As an izuku Stan this isn't it for me like what are you telling me that HE LOST TWO ARMS AND THEN PEOPLE DO COME BUT I AINT SEEING NONE TRYNA HELP THIS GUY. ALSO IZUKU IS NOW ARMLESS AND QUIRKLESS WHATS GOOD ON HERE??!?????!?!? Also looks like izuku out here being the only one who doesn't actually get a full heart to heart with their villain at least ochako and toga were treated better and got that little sob scene where they called eachothers names out and what not but izuku and shigaraki gotta be sentenced to pure suffering for no reason 🤦‍♀️. Also the whole page is Hella and I mean Hella creepy and off like wth is this it's too gory (I know that's not valid criticism but this is my opinion) Izuku out here being the only one who can't be a proper hero like the guy couldn't even stand up to AFO unlike bk this is just mountains and mountains of disrespect and disservice . SOMEONE CHECK UP ON POOR INKO AND IZUKU
Tumblr media
The quirks the backstory the things?!?!. So basically overhaul had the oh quirk or whoever the guy in the picture manga panel thingy which looks like OVERHAUL. This guy had an op quirk like he had the power of destruction and reconstruction but then afo takes that away and then has the doctor somehow somehow genetically modify it ( istg i still dont know how that works or how he could do that) and then TOOK SHIGARAKIS OG QUIRK WHICH (what was his og quirk we arent ever told) and then proceedes to set this child who wanted to be a hero for pure failure. Also what is going on with AFO and kotaros relationship and why does the description of kotaro being mentally/emotionally weak heavily remind me of inko midoriya. Also the RETCON LIKE OH AFO IS LIKE HAVE A KID FOR ME OR SOME BS AND HE HAS A KID AND THEN KOTARO APPARENTLY FULLY LOVES HIS FAMILY HOWEVER IT LOOKS LIKE KOTARO LOVES AFO More THAN HIS FAMILY
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eraserhead making a comeback and finally apologising (or not). I mean at least Eraserhead is back and apologising to his student for failing to be a teacher to him which ok cool cliffhanger I guess. Also where is mic I don't think I can take it if mic is secretly off screened especially cos Eraserhead is crying why is the guy crying like is he crying for izuku which dam as he should your student is dying but he was legit shouting left and right for bakugo 🤷‍♀️. Also Eraserhead has a lot of apologies for izuku considering how he treated the poor dude. ALSO DOES THIS MEAN OBORO IS BACK TO THE PLOT SOMEHOW ( I love oboro) but how does this work how did it happen how did he break free Iam so confused did much due for oboro or something.
Tumblr media
Sato, ojirou and sero out here coming in clutch. but none y'all running to see if izuku ain't gonna die from blood loss or something. Cool entry I guess everyone can take a good fight with AFO but Izuku because hori doesn't like izuku and izuku just sucks!!!. I get it 1A is too big so hori out here needing to give everyone their little moments but like?!?! This just makes afo seem so weak it first went from only all might being the one to even fouch and defeat afo and now its everyone thats not the ofa users which great (sarcasm if you couldn't tell). ALSO THIS MOMENT DONT WORK BECAUSE IZUKU LACKS DEVELOPMENT AND SO DOES 1A and their whole dynamic?!?!?!!!!!???!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I Have ALREADY SEEN THE SHIGARAKI MIGHT COMEBEACK COS AFO CAN HEAR HIS ECHO BUT I DONT WANT HIM BACK AND IF HE DOES HE SHOULD DIE WITH IZUKU COS I GENUINELY GIVE UP
In conclusion, I hope both izuku and shigaraki die and izuku to be remembered as the greatest hero and that's it honestly!!

I am glad I found someone that is highly critical of the LOV, because I have to be honest, that’s all these guys needed up being: destroy the world because we want to! If they wanted to prove the glaring flaws in society, I’d be willing to at least understand why I should care about them. But nothing about their actions makes me care about them. Yes they had sad backstories, but that only goes so far.
I wanted your opinion on something.
I have been especially critical on Toga, because no matter how many times I try to understand her, she only seemed to harm and ruin Ochako’s character more. In my perspective, people always seem to criticize Ochako for being nothing more than a satellite character to Izuku (where THAT honor goes to Bakugou), and I feel Toga’s part of the problem for this critique because that is literally their ONLY connection together: their shared feelings with a boy.
People will say both of them have repressed feelings and that Toga helped Ochako feel she can express those feelings.
As if Ochako isn’t surrounded by other characters that are expressive and outgoing or that she doesn’t have alternatives, like I don’t know, her parents, a teacher, Tsuyu, or Mina. People a lot more stable and less murdery in “expressing themselves”. Their whole reason for being foils just seems so forced and it drives me up the wall what happened to Ochako.
And the stans of Toga and the shippers don’t help. Especially when they seem so content on reducing Ochako to being nothing more than a love interest for Toga that is just meant to be her personal food source and to make it all about her.
I don’t hold it against Ochako for wanting to help her as she is a hero, but how it was written and how she feels responsible for Toga when it was in no way her responsibility for Toga’s actions.
Am I wrong for thinking this way?
Absolutely not!
One of the things I criticize most about Horikoshi's writing aside from the contradictory character development lines, is not having a consistency outside of panels when it comes to ALL the characters.
This theme of Uraraka and repressed feelings also enters into Hawks' plot which consists of heroes being able to have free time (i.e. personal lives).
From the first year she represses her feelings and adapts to the current conditions of heroism which are reduced to serving the public as a security tool against villains of all kinds and catastrophes
And she's not the only one, the entire class stops having a personal life and extracurricular activities from the moment they start at UA, and it's something that Horikoshi points out in SBS mentioning that those who enter the hero course can't even enter UA clubs.
In order for Uraraka to realize that what she does is wrong, since the performance of a hero is not tied to his feelings or relationships, I think the right people would have been Midnight and Mic.
And I don't say this only because they, unlike Aizawa, know that students are still children and not soldiers, but because they are already experienced heroes who were unable to properly build a life after graduating.
Furthermore, it wouldn't be out of the ordinary if thanks to those two the things changed for class A. In canon, Horikoshi makes the teachers stay out of class A's problems because Aizawa is the Homeroom Teacher, but logically and according to the personalities of the teachers, Aizawa should have been dismissed from his position between the final exams and the provisional license tests.
Having Midnight or Mic as Class A's Homeroom teacher means that they could slowly vent about their responsibilities and worries.
(Yes, Aizawa "helped" Yaoyorozu with the trust issue, but other than that it was a "fix your own problems" thing.)
With them being treated like people her age, Uraraka would realize that being a hero doesn't exclude you from having at least a moment of life and lets her feelings be free like her whenever she can, and this triggers the doubt in Uraraka's head about "who saves the heroes if they are also people?" little by little transforming into "how is a villain born?"
This is shared with Midoriya (at this point you can imagine that they are a couple in their first steps or that Uraraka is preparing to ask him out) and from here both of them do introspection on the subject to the point where they ask themselves a question that they should have asked since the camp arc:
What happened to the league to end up like this?
I'm not saying anything about them immediately deciding to save them, but that with time and thanks to Tsukauchi and All Might they discover on their own the origin of Toga, Shigaraki, Spinner and Twice, and think about those problems sharing it with the class in their free time or among themselves
You can imagine that over time they both decide to help the league, but with the same result, since as I said Horikoshi has written to the league to point out the flaws in the hero system and still die because his characters don't have the common sense to have a logical evolution.

Worst Case Scenario: Deku defeats AFO with the help of Shigaraki/Tenko, who's sabotaging AFO from the inside, because seeing everyone support Deku made him feel like supporting Deku too (because Deku saved his heart by validating his existence for being born with Decay even after he accidentally killed his family). Heroes are cool again to him. Shigaraki/Tenko is grateful to Deku for being so heroic as to save a sinner like him, but because his life and purpose and feelings were all fake from the start and none of the rejection was real but he's done such evil things, he's got no reason to keep going, so he destroys himself along with AFO. The League all dies too, paying for their sins. Deku tears up, but realizes it's for the best. He saved that little boy, who's gone on to redeem himself, all because of Deku's effort. He's the greatest Hero. Hero Society is revived, except it's nicer, because now, if a Villain acts appropriately traumatized and sad, Deku knows to save them by beating their traumatic backstory out of them. All other villains can rot in Tartarus 2.0 though. The world is a better place.
Best Case Scenario: Deku tries to fight AFO, but ends up in a stalemate. When he realizes Shigaraki/Tenko is still inside, he decides he's gotta get Shigaraki/Tenko's help too in defeating AFO. Deku gets the League on the scene to call Shigaraki/Tenko's soul back. Somehow this also involves Deku realizing that Shigaraki/Tenko wasn't completely wrong about the flaws of Hero Society, and it's good that he wants to be a Hero for the Villains, it's still necessary, and so promises to change things. Shigaraki/Tenko, regaining a sense of hope, helps destroys AFO-vestige from the inside, and is able to get his body back, with AFO as his quirk now. Shigaraki/Tenko pulls a Toga, saying that while he's grateful to Deku for not giving up on a sinner like him, he's still gonna skedaddle. Shigaraki/Tenko grabs his League and disappears, and it's implied that after he takes the quirks out of Spinner, replenishes Toga's blood, heals Dabi, and breaks Mr. Compress out of jail, they become vigilantes that operate in the blindspots of new Hero Society. Deku lets them go, realizing it's for the best. He saved that little boy, who's gone on to redeem himself, all because of Deku's effort. He's the greatest Hero. Hero Society is revived, except it's nicer, because all the Heroes gathered together to analyze the war and the villains and realize serious reforms are needed, so they change things like prison rehabilitation and quirk counseling and passing laws to prohibit quirk marriages and heteromorph discrimination and create social safety nets. All of this is a block of text in three panels in the epilogue, but hey, it's something. The world is a better place.
Most likely scenario: A mix of the two, leaning more towards the worst case, but in the most bizarre way possible.

Tired of normal guy readers, where are my fucked up little guy readers? Where are my psychopaths and yandere readers? My monster readers??
I’m tired of being the damsel in distress I wanna be the one who kidnaps the princess- I don’t give a shit if I win I wanna be a silly little guy who killed millions just so a silly man in overalls can come beat my ass!
I want to be the villain!! I wanna be the bad guy!! Wanna write some crazy readers…
In the same vein, better insane rep! Sure the crazy psychopathic laugh this is always great, a tried and true method, but what about my quiet crazies? The ones who use pretty privilege to get away with stuff? My calm crazies? I want more variety!!
Let the inane have no sad backstory, let the crazies do their stuff while knowing full well that what they are doing is perfectly wrong, POS (pieces of shit) who do the things they do just because its fun! I’m gonna write readers like that one day just you wait… just gotta stick with chaotic ones for now - ease into it…
And before anyone says anything, I love BSD - Nikolai is BBG, Danganronpa was one of the first fandoms I was truly in - Junko/Monokuma are two of my highest kins, Mahito is my favorite character in JJK, Toga and Twice were the only things keeping me with MHA, I would die for Undertaker in general, Dottore & Douma, Beam from ChainsawMan was one of my first introductions to that franchise. I know my crazies and I’d push them into oil fires. I love them very much.
Now if you excuse me I’m gonna go nurse my insane and psychopathic readers until the time is right to release them into the world. Also I need to go to sleep-

I think the biggest thing I've learnt from the more critical side of MHA is: don't let your favoritism affect your story. I think it's natural that you're gonna like more characters than others. But if it's like noticeable to a point where the audience sees it, it's a big problem. Or if the character is a fan favorite, they'll praise it to sky heaven. The fact that Izuku VS Shigaraki has been oddly side lined so much in favor of Bakugo VS OFA or him rescuing All Might is... weird to me. Like, I get it. He was dead for a year in our time. But... this IS Izuku's story not Bakugo's. Even if Bakugo is a deuteragonist, he's still not the MAIN protagonist. Shouldn't we be shifting more or less to Izuku VS Shigaraki? MHA has been building up their final fight for 8-9 years, and we're oddly all focused on AFO and Bakugo? And for AFO's backstory, I care less for the potato man. Shigaraki is the villain of MHA, not potato man. Such as Izuku is the protagonist of the story, Bakugo isn't. And it's so baffling to me to see MHA twt praise this series to high heaven and just don't oddily notice that Izuku is just oddily fucking quiet through out this fight?? I know he's focused on stopping Shigaraki, but nothing???? Like the Toga and Uraraka and Todoroki Family arcs got all the attention they deserved, so why tf isn't Izuku and Shigaraki?? I understand they were gonna be last, it IS the final battle after all, but it just seems it's gonna go downhill from there.
Plus, how tf is Izuku gonna be able to save Shigaraki?? Izuku is at his witt's end, and Bakugo said he would take care of AFO. Because if it's ACTUALLY Bakugo & Izuku VS Shigaraki. I'll just- I'll be so done. I get the whole "Izuku doesn't have to do everything on his own" but like- Shigaraki literally KILLED Bakugo and got revived from his goddamn blood exploding. (That shit is still funny to me.) like good Lord, can Izuku just have HIS moment??? If all of the cool power ups and cool moments go to Bakugo instead of Izuku, and Bakugo somehow saves the day.
The fucking ending is gonna be ruined by favoritism. Again, this is just an IF. But I felt crazy reading twt's and no one noticing Izuku hasn't said anything of a) Bakugo being brought back to life b) or just reacting to anything. It just seems like Izuku is just there as a device to carry us towards the ending, at this point.
You're right and you should say it.
Mind-boggling how people will look at this shit and still say Horikoshi doesn't favor Bakugou. Like, what? He is 1-v-1-ing the big bad of the series. The villain who killed almost every past OFA user (would also like to add that these are the same users he insulted and looked down on, so if he is the one to finish AFO, that's a slap in the face to every single one of them). The man who incapacitated All Might. The Demon King who's ruled the underbelly of Japan for the past 200 years.
And you mean to tell me that Katsuki Bakugou of all people is his final boss? That's just embarrassing for AFO tbh.
But the fact of the matter is, yeah Izuku's fight with Shigaraki should have been the main event. Instead, it's being treated as a side quest. Hell, it's being treated as less than a side quest as both Uraraka & Toga and the Todorokis & Dabi were given more attention.
It's sad, not only for Izuku but for Shigaraki too. Horikoshi was so close to making him a complex villain, only for all of his character progression from Deika to go down the toilet. He can't be saved because he's been written to be so completely detached from his humanity.
In general, Izuku and Shigaraki should have had more moments together throughout the series. This interaction between them is meaningless because Izuku doesn't understand Shigaraki enough to save him. It's why he's getting frustrated because there's really no feasible way for him to save Tomura. He isn't Eri or Kota who were just kids in danger and who wanted to be rescued.
I hate to say it, but Izuku hasn't had enough development to be able to save Shigaraki. It's not his fault (it's Hori's), but it's true. For him to understand Tomura, he needed to broaden his worldview and Horikoshi hasn't allowed him to do that.
It's an utter disservice to both characters

My Hero Academia: Animation Exhibition
Quickly rising from the grave to share some pictures from the My Hero Academia exhibition that is currently being held in Japan!
It's called My Hero Academia: ANIMATION, an exhibition that highlights some of the biggest moments from season 6 through various forms of art. 99.9% of the photos I took are villain only of course but obviously the exhibition features the heroes too. So if you would like to see them just keep reading!
Outside the exhibition were two posters to promote the exhibition. The photo on the left is the villain poster. The photo on the right is the ticket and a character sheet that everyone gets. The character you get is random so I was SO lucky that I got Toga!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Inside the exhibition, they start out with a compilation video of the season. Then, you get to the main part of the exhibition, where they have various ways of highlighting some of the most important scenes of the season.
They start out with a cardboard cutout of a few hero characters before having this screenshot compilation to have you be sad right away.
Tumblr media
After that you turn a corner and look... I don't like him, but this was actually such a cool display! The feathers were hanging down on a string so they had actual movements!
Tumblr media
Moving on we get to one of my favorite parts of the exhibition! They had a screen where they had a tribute to Twice and Toga, with a screen that played some of their shared scenes accompanied by sad music. Around it were panels of them and pieces of dialog they exchanged was hanging around the screen as well... (the second one reads "thank you for saving me"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think after that they had some sketches from the season, but you're not allowed to take photos of those so skipping to the better part:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fun fact: right after this they had the tank Shigaraki is in on the wall as a photo spot and one of the employees pointed at it and was offering to take a photo so I said thanks and quickly escaped to the next part lol. So you go to this small hallway and on the walls to the left and right they had these panels from little Tenko which was suuper cool. I was a big fan of the fact they had all these 3D (is that what you call this?) versions, which made it feel more real.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And going straight you walk right up to him.
Tumblr media
Shortly after they had a screen showing Shigaraki fighting against the heroes. Right next to the screen they had cardboard cutouts of Deku and Endvr, and on the left they had cardboard cutouts of Shouto and Bakugou, with light effects choreographed in tune with the music of the fight! I had like a split second to take this shot.
Tumblr media
They also had this panel and quote compilation afterwards:
Tumblr media
Then, we get ✨the girls✨
Tumblr media
And now... moving on to the one and only:
Tumblr media
After this short scene introduction they had the COOLEST thing ever and I need to own this for personal reasons. It's a Touya cutout, with LED-lit light to really bring his flames to light. In the background it has the "the past never dies" quote and an image of each of his family members. The light was going dark and bright which was really cool and I took a video of that too but here are some photos:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was really glad they also included Dadpress!
Tumblr media
They had some moments from Touya's backstory highlighted as well, but I HAD to take a photo of this summary, because at the end it says that he is "standing up once more from Shouto and his family's words" - standing up is just not the word I would've used for the guy's pathetic reaction but suuuuure.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyway, that was it for the villain moments in the exhibition. At the very end they had this huge Deku figure and I had to take a photo because it looks like he's about to beat me up.
Tumblr media
Fortunately, he didn't land a blow so I made it out safely, where I was walking up to see the gang:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And yes, they also had a merch section, where I got some nice stuff!
Tumblr media
Overall, it was a fun little exhibition and I was happy to see the villains being included so much. Unfortunately, merch-wise it was mainly Shigaraki, Touya, and Toga but I got a villain washi tape, which has one screenshot of each LoV member so that's super cute!
That's it - hope you guys enjoyed the few photos. It was definitely cooler in person and it was difficult to edit some of the photos due to the lighting in the exhibition, but I hope this post somewhat conveys the atmosphere.

Everyone is going to hate me, but—
I think Horikoshi made the right choice killing Tomura.
He still had autonomy when he made the decision to be a mass murderer. No amount of AFO gloating that he designed Tomura’s life takes away from the responsibility still falling on Tomura for what he’s done. Within the world of MHA, someone who is a mass murderer doesn’t just get off scott free. It’s Tartarus or you die in the fight.
It would have been really easy for Horikoshi to pull a deus ex to bring Tomura back: Eri somehow can do it, AFOFA somehow brought his body back, or even some random Quirk we’ve never heard of just showing up at the right moment.
But he didn’t.
He took the hard path, knowing fans would be upset, because he knew it made sense within the world he’s crafted. Izuku says in the newest chapter that Tomura wasn’t going to give up the LOV(this is base translations so I don’t know how it’ll be worded when we get fan then official) and it’s implied that means he wasn’t going to change his ways if he had survived. Instead, his “soul” (Tenko) was saved and set free.
Here’s a good example to make this easier to understand:
Darth Vader still had to die.
At the end, Vader became Anakin again, saving his son and “killing” the Emperor. He turned back towards the right path(the light), but it STILL didn’t absolve him of what he had done. Lucas explained that, regardless of him turning back to the light, he had done terrible things and still needed to die. Murdered millions, probably billions, when working for the Empire. Lucas actually wrote the scene where he goes to kill the younglings specifically because Vader’s backstory is so incredibly sad that he was worried fans would try to excuse the entirety of what he’s done or misunderstand the reason Vader still had to die in the end, even though he IS the main character of Star Wars.
And may I remind you, since I know people are going to be groaning about everything AFO did to “create” Tomura—
Anakin was a fucking SLAVE. A CHILD slave.
His mindset, molded by slavers, stuck with him through his entire life. He was a slave…then a slave to the doctrine of the Jedi…then a slave of Palpatine’s. The only choices he REALLY made for HIMSELF was to marry Padme and save Luke’s life. Palpatine, after meeting him as a child, spent the rest of Anakin’s life prior to the suit molding him into the apprentice he wanted. He purposefully had the iconic suit made to inflict the most pain possible to a man turned into a quadriplegic with 3rd degree burns over every inch of what remains of his body.
And that dude STILL deserved to die for what he had done, Palpatine’s influence or not.
So, yeah, I think this was a bold, but honest move by Horikoshi.
There are still some chapters left before the entire series ends per a comment by Horikoshi, and the last page hinted at stuff having to do with Toga, Spinner, and Dabi. Will he turn around and bring him back anyway? Maybe, but I’d be very disappointed.
Stick to your guns, Horikoshi.

Hello how are you doing? What is your opinion about Tomura, Toga and Dabi?
Hello, I'm going good! Sorry this took me a second to respond to.
Dabi: I actually like Dabi as he is in the manga but I really don't like how the story around him has formed. I think a lot of people lost sympathy for Dabi when it was revealed that he wasn't the perfectly sad victim with torture porn people envisioned, which is disappointing. Horikoshi did this weird thing where he tried to make the LoV sympathetic by doing things such as have them kill a bunch of bigots and show them having genuine bonds and reasons for their actions, but then abruptly changed his tune and did something like depicting them as unhinged mass murderers, mainly to reestablish the whole black and white morality of the series when he was getting a bit too lose to implying there were serious flaws in hero society and the villains gasp had a point?! Anyway, I like him, but now that Endeavour is basically heading the Todoroki family plot, he's been kinda cast aside and made to take the blame for a lot of the issues they're facing rn when it's... literally all Endeavour lmao. Like I don't think he really had to be portrayed as particularly caring or nice for the narrative to acknowledge that he did have a point, and that similar patterns in the Todoroki family are being repeated again, with condemning him for being obvious about and exposing their dysfunction, instead of Endeavour for causing it. Also literally why did he need an ice Quirk as well the whole fucking point was he was an 'imperfect creation' why did he need that what was the point-
Toga: She's cool, kind of boring. Her character is pretty clearly based on some of Horikoshi's weird fetishes, but she's far from the only one, so whatever. I'm really not a fan of hers and Ochako's arc honestly - it feels like they're trying to queerbait without putting in any of the narrative work as to why Toga and Ochako would connect beyond girl and sure, Ochako might feel sympathetic towards Toga, but like her specifically? Villain hero relationships are cool because usually, the villain reveals a new side to the hero, maybe a foil that causes them to question their morality or the person they could have been (ex: Shigaraki for Izuku and Dabi for Shouto). Toga is... not this for Ochako, and Ochako is not this for Toga. Her implied backstory is interesting but I all in all think she's one of the least interesting League members and it's a pity, because we're not really given enough about her.
Shigaraki: I fucking loved his arc for a while there, then they ruined it. Seeing a villain who actually grows from an immature, whiny kid to a legitimate leader who even seems to care about his subordinates was fantastic, and his backstory builds up very well to who he is as a person now. Though, then they regressed him, bought in the inner child that's crying or whatever, and I lost interest. Shigaraki has a compelling character design, was a main villain who grew into the position which is rare, and his Quirk is awesome, and his motivation? Has merit! He had the potential to be a great main villain had they just let him actually grow past AFOs influence, like a mirror to Izuku growing past All Might. But well. They didn't do that. Imo they wasted Shigaraki - for a while there his writing was great and he was one of the best parts of the manga for me.

I think tooth anon is fine, here is my idea, or some part of it. This could take place in x-men evolution if u want.
Reader is the illegitimate child of sabretooth, who is similar to melon from beastars, storywise. Allow me to explain: when reader was born her mutation didn't began showing until she/they was around 5 yrs old. I'd imagine her mutant would be more prey like, similar to caprinae(weird, huh?), with little nubby horns and hooves and and a innocent, harmless demeanor, despite being a mutant. But as she was growing she dealt with severe hardships, her 'parents' being psychologically/verbally/physically abusive and neglectful, people degrading and mistreating her, her not being able to control her monster strength(similar to mitsuri kanroji and torako aikawa[look them up their strong as hell but lonely and viewed differently]) & her constantly trying to change herself to be or look somewhat normal, by hiding who she is(a bit harmfully). This continues until she is 12 where this poor, innocent, golden hearted child snapped, blacked out, viscoisly attacked her parents and ran away. Ever since then she has closed herself off, keep a severe distance from anyone who tries to get close to her & never being honest and hiding herself. Not just because she is angry, but because she's bitter, lonely and scared because underneath all of that, there is a child who yearns for true acceptance, to love and to be loved and treated equally, and live a good happy life in her own weird way without any complications. She probably joins apocalypse out out desperation and did horrendous things and at some point fights the x-men with Jean or professor peering into her mind by accident, and know are like 'this person isn't enemy, she needs help, we have to reach out to her somehow, ect'.
So they fight again with them trying to get her to see reason and she goes through the 5 stages of grief in the hardest, saddest way possible with her denying, getting angry and severly violent, trying to kill everyone, to finally opening up about everything and breaking down to finally realizing the x-men are genuinely trying to help her & it ending up nearly sacrificing her life and almost dying to save jean(or laura after finding out the truth about each other) and slipping into a coma.
Think of this as part one of the story in my head. I know its a little messy, but i'll work on it. The references I used to build this idea came from misturi kanroji from demon slayer whose backstory is sad, to torako from the manga "don't break everything torako"(characters with super strength 💪), melon from beastars(another traumatic backstory) and toga himiko from bnha (her fight with uraraka during the war ark was so beautiful). I wanted a creed reader to be somewhat similar to creed in sense of having a tragic/horrid life that changed them for the worse only this time, his child still might have a chance. Lemme know what you think, l8r🧡🧡🧡🧡
OoooooO... I don't know those animes very well, but I know what you're trying to say... I like this... They sound tragic, and in need of proper family... (and guess who'd gladly give it to them?)
And welcome to the platonic yandere xmen fan club, Teeth Anon!

I really dislike how Hori keeps trying to make us audience set aside the terrible things that the character has done ( Bakugo, Endeavour, Toga, Aizawa and etc... ) just cause 'sad backstory' or make a scene of them 'crying'.
All for the sake of forcing us to forgive them just by a snap of the finger. I would've found been okay if a character goes through redemption IF the narrative doesn't sugarcoat their misdeed, actually face the damn consequences, and that no one is obligated to forgive, nor be shamed for not wanting to help the people that wronged them.
Oh for sure. Now backstories and emotional moments can make showcase that a character is more than meets the eye. However Hori’s issue is that he expects us to suddenly like these guys and think they’re not bad people. It’s a lot of force feeding rather than letting the actions of the characters speak for themselves.

The Lov deserved better endings
Yeah they did.
I personally think the leauge of villains deserved better arcs in general because realistically if we tried to redeem them with how the war arc played out how would society react? Also how would the leauge themselves react? It's all complicated jumbo and in the end ITS HORI WHO WROTE THEM THAT WAY
like yes they could of been redeemed if hori wrote them to be saved but he didnt. Iam still incredibly pissed at how underdeveloped shigaraki is and his whole goal of being to destroy and not actually developing into "I want to destroy the HPSC/the corrupt society that has caused me and the leauge pain" still pisses me off.
Look I know this is an unpopular opinion but I don't mind someone from the leauge not being able to get saved and dies (but at least make the death well written hori come on man). Personally Iam a sucker for toga dying simply because of the way I have come to associate her character with red spider lilies, blood, cannibalism and pomegranates. Also it just adds to the tragedy of her character which is something I love when it comes to her writing.
On the other hand while I do think depending on the characters arc and actions some (and I mean also hero characters) should face concequences for some of their actions or attone for them. I think that twice, spinner and mustard were pretty redeemable characters.
Shigaraki and Dabi should of been written to be much more complex overall (well this mainly applies to shigaraki, Dabi just got his backstory retconned to make enji look good) and have hints of a redemption or something that still says they have good in them. Like Iam still pissed that we didn't get much of Shigaraki consistency in general and when it comes to Dabi I would of enjoyed hori to give us Dabi in all of his complexity and I mean all of it.
Iam mainly pissed at Dabis ending because why I mean why would you revoke all of his autonomy and agency and leave him stuck all alone, slowly dying and being stuck with his abuser that wants to dance in hell with him but enji doesn't even understand what Dabi has been through in total.
I would of enjoyed more of spinner and shoji's dynamic and I honestly wanted more of spinner in general but dam hori did done and went and ruined him. Like I wanted to see spinner, wanted to see more of the discrimination plot line, wanted to see more of his thoughts on stain and how he would develop out of it/create his own thoughts of what a true hero is. I wanted more development when it came to him and shigaraki because all of it felt out of place in a way. Idk just wasted potential when it came to him.
Don't get me started about kurogiri Iam still sad about his death (it was cruel to just have him die that was just cruel there was so much potential with kurogiri that never got done right)
Honestly would of loved to know more about magne but I would of wanted her to die either way.
I think we should of gotten more of compress and his whole robin hood style. It's a shame I really wanted to see him do stuff like steal from the rich and give to the poor or simply give him more development then him being just there.

My problem with the togachako plot line
I loved the togachako chapters as much as anybody else but something that really bothers me about their “fight” is how much it was focused on toga rather than the both of them and their similarities.
It was all why is toga sad? How did toga grow up? What are toga’s thoughts? Toga toga toga toga…. With next to nothing for ochako… it feels like ochako just a tool to develop others rather than being her own individual character which pisses me off.
Ochako literally grew up in poverty with her parents always stressed out and clearly burdened by work. Ochako seeing her parents burdened by work and so to not bother them further she grew a habit of locking away her own feelings, wants, and desire’s especially those she deemed “a burden” (ex: bottling up her feelings for Deku, hiding her sadness from deku after her match w/ bakugo, and even refusing to eat so as to not spend any money or waste food…). This is literally one of the things that connects her to toga… (miss candid and miss shutaway) yet it’s never explored or even mentioned in her fight with toga?
Tumblr media
Horikoshi is so creatively bankrupt that he genuinely can’t write more or explore ochako’s backstory more than that whole “I love seeing people smile” like what about her fear of being a burden so in turn locking away her feelings… or how she always undermines her own noble intentions and compares herself to people. Like, ochako undermining her intentions to be a hero for her parents and calling it “embarrassing” or being embarrassed about her speech, and even how after her fight with bakugou she went on to tell her parents everything she did wrong when they praised her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yes, her arc is about finding her strength and becoming a hero but it’s also about acceptance and self-love… while yes she ultimately accepted her feelings for Deku and admitted her admiration for toga’s ability to talk about the things she loves. However we never see root of these things that could be explored within her past and hit much harder… it’s such a waste honestly.
Like, what’s the point if THIS is all she’s given…? She doesn’t even touch on her own struggles, fears, desires… while the rest of the chapter is around toga.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyways, the togachako chapters benefited toga’s development A LOT as well as ochakos whole “who saves who” arc but it’s very half baked regarding her arc around “self-love and acceptance” (which was heavily ingrained into their arc)
