i like to think the only major change in class 78 was one of them (readers choice to who) got a tramp stamp during their lost time. it however never comes up bc they cant see it on their back
i think there's only a few viable options here. let's be real
#muse talk#anon#dangantag#togami is the obvious funny answer#but i do not think he would. like jokes aside. he gets better but he's still a Fucking Pretentious Prick#taka gets to stay bc i think mondo would be a bad enough influence to get him there eventually#the other three are obvious. i think

Just so you know this isn't hate, i'm GENUINELY askin' because i want to understand
Why do you ship togafuka ? Because i can don't really understand the appeal ?
You're free to ignore this text, you don't own me anything, i just want to know (It's kinda my goal to understand everyship i don't ship)
Hello! I don't mind you asking.
from an older curiouscat answer:
I’ve always understood why many people don’t like togafuka or dismiss it outright, and I don’t really take issue with this point of view. I obviously like them, but these are two characters with a lot of issues, and so the way they interact with eachother (or with anyone) is going to be bound up in all that until they change. Actually, in a way I think this is part of why I like the ship - it’s hard to see Byakuya interacting with, for example, Chihiro without feeling bad for Chihiro, and when Makoto is trying to befriend Byakuya I can tell it takes a lot out of him just to be around him, and I want to think Makoto deserves to spend time with someone who respects him more. But because Touko and Byakuya are both nasty people, having them spend time together is kind of like a quarantine, haha. We see in DR1 that both Touko and Byakuya often exclude themselves from the rest of the class, and so they end up “excluded together”
While I like Touko and Byakuya’s interactions during the killing game, the way they are during this period is clearly not conducive to an actual relationship. Even though they seem very different on the surface, however, I think they actually have a lot in common - having difficult childhoods, preferring a blunt way of speaking rather than delicacy, you know. As they change as people independently, I imagine that their relationship to eachother could change as they may begin to see eachother in a different light. I think Touko already sees and thinks of Byakuya a bit differently by DRAE, and as Byakuya becomes better at forming sincere connections with people (which he is incapable of in DR1) he may begin to admire things in her he previously dismissed. (<-this does not necessarily mean he has to return her feelings - they could just be friends, or two people who are otherwise mature enough to exist in eachother's lives without it being a problem. but i think its cooler if he wants to kiss her grossly) To be honest, I also just find them really funny. I like that Touko gets to be a funny female character, and I like that in their dynamic it reveals a bit of Byakuya's gap moe ignorance and he can get flustered. Its fun (and endearing in a mean way) to imagine them bonding over insulting and gossiping about the rest of the cast together.
I also find them to be aesthetically pleasing to draw together; I like the contrast in their designs and mannerisms, and independently they're both the kind of character I find fun to draw (Togami, being a cool, mean, princely guy and Fukawa being a loud, pathetic woman.) "They're my type" wouldn't be enough to explain why I've been obsessed with them for 7 years straight but they're also appealing to me in a way that is kind of obvious in my mind. It didn't take 'digging deep' to make me like them!

Started Danganronpa 3
Some initial thoughts. I haven't reached the first murder yet; Just got past the fakeout where Monokuma died and then respawned the following day. Some thoughts. Spoilers after the jump.
So, I may have figured out the twist. I know there's usually a twist regarding the outside world. In Danganronpa 1, the twist is that the school is actually a safe space, and the outside world is on fire. There are no homes to go back to. In Danganronpa 2, the twist was that Jabberwock Island was a simulation all along.
Here, we have a school building under construction that seems overrun with greenery. There are giant mechs being used by the Monokubs. We're surrounded by huge walls and, not only that, but the whole thing is inside a massive birdcage.
What got me was Gonta talking about the lack of bugs. There are no bugs. Absolutely none. This is a bug-free environment. And that seems odd, right? There's no possible way that there wouldn't be bugs in an open-sky environment like this. That's only possible in a sealed-off space.
So I'm looking at the bars of the birdcage while thinking about that. And I'm thinking, why is there a birdcage? What is the point of the birdcage? It wouldn't just be there for no reason, right? It's not like the birdcage is keeping us in; That's what the walls are for. Why is it there?
And I'm looking at the sky that I can see through the bars. I start to think, what if I'm not seeing the sky beyond the bars? What if I'm seeing the sky between the bars? What if that's not a birdcage, but a dome? What if those are panels?
So here's what I'm thinking. I think we're in space. Maybe a satellite in Earth orbit or something. The overgrowing greenery is for oxygen production and the Exigal mechs are for construction and maintenance. There's no bugs because this a controlled atmosphere.
I don't know why we're in space. I don't know how we're in space. I don't know how we're going to leave space. But I think we're in space.
Regarding the characters, my first impressions are as follows:
Kaede Akamatsu, Ultimate Pianist - Ooh, female protagonist. This is the first core Danganronpa title to have one. I'm surprised that she has a "real" Talent, so to speak; She's neither the class's obligatory Lucky Student nor ???. This feels very different.
Kirumi Tojo, Ultimate Maid - Oh, this character can go a variety of ways. She seems like the most dangerous, but dangerous can be either good or bad. She could be a major asset or a formidable Blackened.
Himiko Yumeno, Ultimate Mage - This character is precious and I want to keep her forever. I love the running joke that her "real magic" is just stage magic but it's TOTES REAL I SWEAR. I hope they never decisively answer whether or not she can cast real spells.
Maki Harukawa, Ultimate Child Caregiver - This character is an asshole. She's probably never going to be a Blackened. The obvious asshole is never the culprit. For reference, see Byakuya Togami.
Tenko Chabashira, Ultimate Aikido Master - Her dynamic with Himiko cracks me up. Extremely distrustful towards men specifically but given the context, I can't exactly criticize. This is a killing game. You do what you need to do to keep yourself safe, ma'am! If anything, be more paranoid. You're leaving yourself open to 50% of the potential Blackened.
Tsumugi Shirogane, Ultimate Cosplayer - This character freaks me out. She seems nice and sweet and kind and all that, but she freaks me out. She's Ultimate Cosplayer. Her entire persona could be a cosplay. I still remember when Mukuro Ikusaba cosplayed as Junko Enoshima. No thank you. I have my eye on you, cosplayer.
Angie Yonaga, Ultimate Artist - I love her. I'm going to be really sad when she dies. I don't know why, but I just feel like she has tragic victim written all over her. She's a fairly simple character with a funny joke that she retells every time you talk to her. And it's funny every time, but it doesn't seem like it lends the character much longevity. I mean, the same could be said of Gundham Tanaka, but he didn't exactly make it to the endgame either.
Miu Iruma, Ultimate Inventor - I'm still figuring out what to think about her. The way she breaks down at the slightest criticism makes her mean girl attitude seem totally artificial. She's definitely obnoxious to talk to. Maybe she's going to be the Byakuya asshole we never get rid of?
Shuichi Saihara, Ultimate Detective - I'm sorry, Ultimate what!? Oh, you'd better buckle up, Shuichi, because those are some big shoes to fill you're stepping into. Kinda nervous because he's the starting round buddy-buddy to hang out and help you out. One of those characters tried to frame mine for murder and the other was Nagito Komaeda, so that's not a role I trust easily.
Kaito Momota, Ultimate Astronaut - When he first told me his Talent, I was like, "Haha, whaaaaat?" But now that I think I've figured out this whole space station thing, his skillset suddenly seems extraordinarily relevant. We need to protect this guy with our lives. Unless he's the Mastermind. Shit, that's a possibility.
Ryoma Hoshi - Hahahaha deep-ass fucking 40-year-old voice coming from a 5-year-old body. That's hilarious. This toddler's been in prison!? XD This character is a very funny joke. 10/10 Good job.
Rantaro Amami, Ultimate ??? - He has to be our Lucky Student, right? Every class has a Lucky Student. If it's not him, then we don't have one. That wouldn't make sense. Also, he seems to be the only character who is actually familiar with the Killing Game. I think he may have seen Junko's broadcast? I'm intrigued.
Gonta Gokuhara, Ultimate Entomologist - This character is precious and I want to keep him forever. He's a sweetheart and I adore him. I rank him 9 out of 10 on a trustworthiness scale. The only way I could conceive of him ever being a Blackened is by accident.
Kokichi Oma, Ultimate Supreme Leader - Also a potential candidate for the "It's never the obvious asshole" tag. He calls himself Ultimate Supreme Leader but I think he's full of shit. I bet you money this guy's the Ultimate Liar, because every word out of his mouth sounds like an exact inversion of what he really thinks.
Korekiyo Shinguji, Ultimate Anthropologist - He's just so weird. I don't know what to think of him. He rubs me the wrong way. Reminds me of Mikan.
K1-B0, Ultimate Robot - Oh hey, it's Genos from One-Punch Man! This character is precious and I want to keep him forever. He doesn't deserve to face the kind of robot racism that Kokichi subjects him to. I wonder if he's connected to Alter Ego in any way?
So that's where I'm sitting. I tried to complete the obstacle course of doom by save scumming, but wound up giving up on it anyway. Too intense for me. If you can beat it, all respect to ya, but I had to throw in the towel.
Looking forward to getting to the first murder. Monokuma promised there wouldn't be a class trial for the first one? That can't be right, can it? Junko Enoshima would be spinning in her grave to hear that we're skipping the trial. That's like 80% of the Killing Game's appeal!
I'm waiting for the boot to drop. It has to drop, right?
We wouldn't. Actually skip it. Right?

Twenty Days of Tum, Day 3 - being in denial of weight gain
Tags: weight gain, M/M, teasing, Stuffedrompa
In which a certain To.gami has certainly not gained weight. Even though he was asking his chefs every day to just make a little bit more and had to ask for his tailors to loosen the seams of his pants. But maybe a certain lucky student could use his talent to get the truth out of him.
“Me? Gaining weight??” Togami asked incredulously, seeming shocked by the sheer thought of it. “Makoto, you and I both know that I have not gotten any bigger since I re-established the Togami name.”
“Uh-huh,” Makoto answered in a rather dry tone, though he was undoubtedly smiling at the heir across the table from him. It was a bit hard to take the man’s words seriously when he was currently making his way through a rather large slice of cheesecake. He knew that Togami was enjoying the luxuries of wealth once again, and though it didn’t bother him, it was somewhat funny to watch him deny the fact that he now sported a little pot belly.
“Well then, prove it,” Makoto said simply.
Togami raised an eyebrow at his former classmate’s words. “How are you proposing I do that?”
“Simple. We take measurements now, chart them down, and then I’ll come back thirty days from now. If I win, and you have managed to put on weight, you pay me by however much you gained. If you win, and you’ve managed to lose weight, I’ll pay you by however much you lost.”
Togami seemed to process the deal for a moment, then sat back in his chair. Makoto could hear it creak ever so slightly as he moved.
“Well, now I’m intrigued. You seem to be so certain of your victory,” Togami pointed out.
“Hey, if you do win, you also get bragging rights. You get to tell everyone that you were right the whole time, and I was wrong. And I know how much you love proving me wrong.”
Togami went into a silent contemplation once again, then finally gave a smirk as he nodded his head. “Fine. We have a deal, Naegi. Let’s hope this doesn’t hurt your pockets too much.”
—///—
The hardest part of the whole ordeal was getting Togami to stay still to get the measurements they needed. They decided to go with two measurement— his weight alone- and the two amounts would be added or subtracted at the end of the month.
Always being one to be official about everything, Togami even managed to convince Makoto to sign a written contract. The two of them signed, and the deal was set.
Part of Makoto felt a twinge of guilt for tricking Togami into such a deal— but he knew the only way Togami would learn is if it hit his pockets.
Meanwhile, Togami chuckled to himself as he polished off his second slice of cake for the day. He was confident that he would win.
—///—
“Twenty-five pounds?!”
The incredulous outburst from Togami sounded more like a shrill bell instead of his normal composed tone. The month had passed quickly, and Makoto had finally returned to finish their bet. And the triumph he felt when he saw Togami’s face go from shock to embarrassment was palpable.
“No, that can’t possibly be right!!” The heir scowled toward Makoto, his face flushed a bright pink— a color that was rare for Togami.
“Well, a deal’s a deal,” Makoto said with a shrug. “Signed the contract and everything.”
“You— you rigged this somehow, didn’t you?” Togami took a step toward Makoto, but he stood his ground. He was soon just a few inches away, peering down at Makoto. And now that Togami was this close, Makoto noticed that when he tilted his head down, he saw a very tiny roll form right at the base of his chin.
“We both know I wasn’t allowed here for the last month,” Makoto stated simply. “And if I was, I’m sure your staff would have told you. And I don’t think anyone here even knew about the bet besides the two of us. That scale’s been sitting in your bathroom this whole time.”
This scenario was definitely familiar, but he hadn’t seen Togami lose his composure in such an obvious way.
“Admit it, Byakuya. You’ve got a gut.” To emphasize his point, he poked his finger into Togami’s softened middle. The mere action took him by surprise, and he stepped back in shock.
Togami was truly at a loss for words. How else could he even explain this? He hadn’t even looked at that damn scale since he was forced to stand on it a month ago. And now here he was, twenty-five pounds heavier, and Makoto was grinning like an idiot.
“How about I use that twenty-five dollars to buy you some comfort food?” Makoto offered. “I won, but I’m not in it for the cash.”
Finally, Togami took a step back, his face still as pink as it had been minutes before. “F-Fine,” he mumbled. “Not my problem if you want to waste your money like that.”
Makoto gave him a nod, then turned and left the bedroom. Probably best to let Togami calm down a little bit…

Naegami Beauty and the Beast au omggggg it's even better when half-French Togami is a popular hc.
I know the obvious answer is that Togami is the beast and Naegi is the beauty. But my first thought was that Togami is literally designed to be eye candy and Naegi is supposed to be average so I thought of Togami as the beauty and Naegi as the beast.
Which is so funny cuz Naegi would be an angel of a beast and be like "oh no im scaring everyone they all think i want to kill them I'm gonna go live in the woods"
And then this a-sshole just shows up to his castle JDKDKDK

This blog has been a mostly-Danganronpa blog for a few years now so I surely mentioned this anecdote once or twice already, but here it is, again maybe, just in case I haven't.
I'm not sure how obvious my favourite characters are to my followers and the majority of my mutuals, but I'd say some I've made pretty clear over the years. There's one character I think I don't mention all that much though, and that would be Byakuya Togami - and Togami is the only DR character for whom I almost died.
(I don't know if I would willingly give up my life for the sake of Togami but the more I think about it, the more the answer sounds like "maybe". Anyway,)
When I first watched DRtA and then a Let's Play of Trigger Happy Havoc, Togami was one of my favourite characters by far. There was nothing special about it - which I have to mention since my Ultimate favourite DR character was also the character I hated the most at first - I just really liked his characterization and quickly started to love the bastard. I was lucky enough to enjoy all of DR, until V3, completely free of spoilers, so needless to say, when SDR2 introduced a now obese Togami, I was stoked to see him again and have him be part of this new cast. I was so interested in what caused his weight gain and how much time could have passed, and especially enjoyed comparing his attitude towards SDR2's Killing Game to that of THH's.
Kodaka must have known what he was doing when he killed him off in Chapter 1. And at that point, I genuinely thought that Togami, this atrocious prick from THH I loved so much, had just died in Chapter 1 of a new 6-chapters-long game even though he was obviously trying so hard to keep such a tragedy to happen again. Togami being the one to act this way meant a lot. So it hit me real hard.
So hard, in fact, that I quickly found myself unable to breathe. I was unaware that I suffered from anxiety back then and during the surrounding few years only had very few and far between anxiety attacks, but looking back, the experience I had in this exact moment was probably one, or at least very similar to one. I found myself in a pure state of shock and unable to control my breathing - not understanding what was happening to me. This would have eventually calmed down, however, it was highly worsened by the fact that back then I suffered from a MSD which caused my ribs to (roughly speaking) close down on my lungs and inhibit my breathing capacity. Again, not something all that dramatic, but added to what seems to have been an anxiety attack - I was in fact finding myself unable to breathe and started to panic, which of course only made it worse.
Now keep in mind - this was all because Byakuya Togami had died. I hadn't even been able to consider he, I mean, we're talking about Togami here, could die, and this sudden event caused me this immense physical reaction.
So this is me almost d y i n g. Truth be told, a MSD isn't all that dramatic and I would most likely have fainted, which would have allowed me to breathe slower again. But saying "I fainted because of Togami" makes me sound like a completely different type of fan, and still, who knows, I was on top of an inverted mezzanine, I could have fallen to my death somehow--
In any case, I didn't faint either. I immediately shared my reaction with my best friend at the time and though I have absolutely no memory what I actually told her, I know that I let her know I was having a big physical reaction, couldn't breathe and was starting to panic. For her to react this way must mean I was being very worrying, but she actually ~saved my life~ in a simple manner - by spoiling me the Imposter's actual identity.
I do love the Imposter so their death in SDR2 is still sad, and this was my first DR spoiler ever, but boy, I wasn't mad. Just knowing that this wasn't actually Togami, even though I had no idea if he would ever show up in person again at that point, suddenly made me feel a lot better. This might seem like a random story about some hardcore stan overreacting to a fictional death, but I think I simply can't convey the genuine shock and panic I experienced, followed by sudden and complete relief.
All of this goes to say, Togami undoubtedly means a lot to me (for some reason). The same can be said about Danganronpa in general. I can't say this was a positive experience but I'm impressed by the strong emotions this series was able to make me experience - and I have never felt so involved in any other game than I did in SDR2.
In the end, Togami survived the entire Kibougamine arc, and that makes me happy. Interestingly, I was persuaded while watching DR3 that Togami would be the one to die, with all this "someone is going to die because of Naegi" stuff. With the building exploding during the rescue, I even thought he did. Part of me couldn't accept it, but I was waiting for the reveal, for Hagakure to find his body in the ruins-- aaaaa. I knew it would have been so good, in a dramatic way. But I also knew that if that happened, I might have to take a break off Danganronpa. It would have been that big of a deal to me.
Evidently it didn't happen, and I think it's funny that Togami is the only character I've documented feeling this way about. Kirigiri was actually the one to die, and to be completely honest, I'm pretty sure I like her a lot more than I like him, but somehow I don't remember her death being “that” big of a deal. I mean, it still was - I was so shocked and confused, but I don't remember my entire body making me feel like I was going to die, effective immediately. Part of it might have been that I was already persuaded there had to be a catch, because something was missing. But still, I was able to continue watching, maybe even a little relieved, while I knew I wouldn't have been able to accept Togami's death at all.
And I genuinely don't know why that is.
Anyway, tl;dr: you might not have known that, but Togami is one of my favourite Danganronpa characters.
#danganronpa#byakuya togami#togami byakuya#sdr2#long post#I didn't expect to write something so long djdkks sorry I'm being dramatic#Hope you enjoy the read

Do every single one from the danganronpa ask meme. All of them. Every question
HE HE HE…
obviously spoilers for entire danganronpa series under the cut, along with very specific character hate, a TINY dash of ship “hate” which should not be taken seriously, me being indifferent about characters you might like, and also me being fairly morbid. my opinions are all over the place! boy do i have a lot of them. some of them probably won’t be yours, because people can have opinions. all kinds of em! fascinating stuff. please oh please, let this post not somehow make someone start arguing with me because i didn’t put a thousand asterisks everywhere
1. Favourite game?
sdr2 is the best just like factually speaking
2. Favourite Protagonist?
i tried to answer this and my answers were “komaeda. wait he isn’t-- KIRIGIRI! wait no” so there’s that. i like all of them though
3. Favourite antagonistic character?
i assume this means the Rival characters right... i like komaeda and ouma. in my danganronpa rp server, i had my oc rob and also humiliate and cyberbully togami, and drew a squirtle on his stupid bald head because hagakure asked him to, so there’s that
if antagonistic also covers the characters who are murderers + masterminds/villains, then... ok gonna be real here? there’s only one character i am familiar with who i know i hate and it’s t*ruteru
4. Favourite character?
entire sdr2 cast (except t*ruteru), most of the dr1 cast (hifumi is gross, i don’t honestly care either way about leon or sayaka, and for clarification i like togami as a character but dislike him as a person), most of the v3 cast (i haven’t actually played v3 yet and once i do it’s probably gonna be more like all of them or all of them except one. i do know the general plot and characters, it’s just that i get way more emotionally invested when i actually play the game)
5. Best girl?
don’t you go making me choose...
6. Best boy?
the same as above except the answer is komaeda and we should all hurry up and acknowledge this
7. Favourite class trial from all the games?
i have multiple favourites but because it was the first one i thought of, i’m gonna give kudos to the third trial in sdr2. it was especially interesting because the murderer seemed obvious if you only took in the basic facts, but when you know what kind of person mikan is, it seems completely preposterous that she’d do such a thing-- which makes the solving of it all the more DELICIOUS... oh it was so good i loved it... the whole time i kept searching and searching for any answer other than mikan and coming up with nothing, and knowing that, i knew that it had to be her, but i couldn’t fathom the why and that alone was enough to keep me in doubt for ages... the very end when she starts to break down eliminated my doubt but my questions of “why” only increased tenfold and it made it even MORE delectable i fucking LOVE puzzle’s and mystery’s
8. Least favourite character?
i am physically incapable of summoning empathy for t*ruteru even with his sad backstory. i hope they tossed him in another volcano after the dr3 anime was over
9. Least favourite class trial?
i actually legit keep putting off playing v3 because i know who dies first and it makes me so mad
10. What would be your Ultimate SHSL Title?
HMM... i think i’d be a shsl ??? which i understand isn’t a real title but like... that’s sort of just... how it’d be, considering my personality and the existing characters i kin... later would be the reveal of my actual title, though i’m not too sure what it’d be myself. probably something like shsl detective, shsl writer/storybuilder, shsl puzzle/mystery enthusiast, shsl kinner of mysterious smart autistic bishies with pretty hair and ptsd... something along those lines
11. Favourite cast?
sdr2. next
12. Favourite Danganronpa 3 character?
the teacher, the large gay bodyguard guy, the small gay animator guy, and the chick who komaeda went to for his constipation issues
i don’t remember any of their names
13. What’s your opinion on the Danganronpa 3 anime?
forgettable but the parts with sdr2 kids’ school life is blessed and so is the happy ending
14. What do you think about Danganonpa 1 anime?
i saw it when it first came out and not once since. i will probably not watch it again because i prefer a more hands-on mystery-solving experience, even when i already know the answers
15. Your absolute OTP?
OUMAMI!!!!!!!!!!! IS CANON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
also komahina good
16. Your absolute BROTP?
sdr2 cast is all best friends. some of them are also dating but most importantly, they are all friends
17. Do you have an OT3? Which one?
i probably do but i can’t think of any serious business ones because i’m too busy thinking about a ship that came from rp called “horsepack” that consists of souda/momota/hinata
18. Favourite rare ship?
okay get ready for this: fuyuhiko/chihiro
it came to me in a dream once. fuyuhiko was like yo chihiro check this out and he showed her a box with a bunch of mice in there and she was like :O! and then the two of them just like. took handfuls of mice and hung out like that. it was good.
the laws of shipping fuyuhiko and chihiro are these: fuyuhiko is a trans boy and bi, chihiro is a trans girl and also bi, and they have to hold handfuls of mice together at some point
19. Who do you think is an underrated character?
i refuse to acknowledge the fandom for long enough to notice which characters are classified as underrated for the most part because i live in my own brain palace where i can love every character and that is all that matters. that being said, i think it is fairly obvious that hoshi from v3 is underrated just... factually speaking? people do not pay attention to him very much it seems but it also seems he is a good little man. i know little about him, but that is the technical definition of underrated, so that is my answer i guess
20. Who do you think is an overrated character?
again i don’t know if he even IS overrated in the fandom but i think leon is kinda boring. i don’t hate him or even dislike him necessarily because i don’t... care enough about his character for that... i could probably be influenced by someone who is passionate about him, but right now he’s just kind of existing
21. Favourite voice actor?
megumi ogata snatched me bald. megumi ogata didn’t even leave me with my scalp
22. Favourite talent?
shsl luck is a neat concept to play with, shsl adventurer is flat out aesthetically Pristine, shsl detective is fun, and shsl ??? is delicious and interesting even if it’s not a real title
23. Favourite mascot?
my brother got me a monokuma plushie for my birthday and the first thing i did was choke it. also, monokuma is hilarious and i hate his slutty little ass but love to watch it go, which is the same opinion i have about dimple from mp100
also, i’m really sleepy writing this and i don’t know what the fuck i am saying right now
24. Favourite Monokub?
i haven’t played v3 and i already know the answer is none
25. Least favourite mascot?
none probably? maybe?
26. Favourite execution?
okay this question INVITES morbidity so. like. i get to be morbid.
the ones that make me laugh the most are celestia’s and (look i was very sad but i can explain) alter ego’s because ... when i see them i can’t stop thinking about two specific vines. celestia’s execution is funny on its own but when i think about this fucking vine it gets worse and HERE. LOOK. I LOVE ALTER EGO BUT THIS MAKES ME GO HAM
the most brutal and ultimately chilling? leon’s, by far. it was EXTREMELY well done and sets the tone for the game so well
the one i like because the character deserved it? gee i wonder if it might be t*ruteru’s just can’t tell
and then there is only one that fills me with a sort of mysterious, enigmatic emotion-- very strong, but indescribable and neither positive nor negative. junko’s. really, junko in general elicits this emotion from me, she’s very interesting. what an excellent villain
27. Least favourite execution?
gonta didn’t deserve that and he definitely didn’t deserve such a weird-ass fuckin execution either
28. Favourite unused execution?
i don’t know any actually El oh el
29. Which character should survived in your opinion?
rantaro and ouma actually ARE alive and v3 is fake
oh also... all the characters i like. those ones should have lived
30. Which character would’ve deserved to survive?
hey i dunno how this question is different to the last one so i’m just gonna say that actually, you know how in sdr2 everyone is in a virtual reality and they’re shsl despairs being cured? the same is true in v3 and izuru also revives all the v3 kids. this is fact, and kodaka signed the rights to danganronpa over to me
31. Is there a character you think who shouldn’t have survived but did?
t*ruteru
also, realistically? like not because i dislike him. the opposite is true, i like him a lot. just realistically speaking. the fact that souda somehow survived sdr2 without dying seems almost unrealistic, not because anyone would have killed him but because he’s a dumbass
32. Least favourite protagonist?
none
33. Character with the best clothing?
take a wild kinnie guess
34. Best character design?
celestia, sakura, chihiro, sonia, gundham, gonta, touko, korekiyo, kirumi, chiaki, and junko
and once more, take a wild kinnie guess
35. A character who should’ve got more character development?
all of them lol
36. Character who looks amazing but you don’t like?
i mean. junko sucks as a person, does that count even though junko as a Character and villain is immensely interesting to me
37. Favourite minor character?
komaeda’s pet dog
38. Favourite eyes?
*kinnie answer*
39. Smartest murder plan?
once again, while it’s really obvious the most likely culprit is mikan, the DRASTIC contrast between her personality and the concept of murder ITSELF, let alone the way she went about it, is enough to cause some pretty goddamn severe doubt, though not enough for her to get away with it
actually all the murder plans from mikan’s onwards were really smart and very fun to solve
40. Favourite culprit?
(i count sakura and komaeda as victims, not culprits, and kaede and chiaki are also excluded)
culprit who as a character i just love dearly: gundham
culprit who made things the most interesting: gundham, mikan
culprit who offed a character i didn’t like: celestia
41. Person you’ve never expected to become a culprit but they became? (Doesn’t include Chiaki)
mikan, gundham, and... junko probably counts, eh?
42. Honest opinion on Tsumugi Shirogane?
she’d have a really bad twitter account with a smug anime girl icon and do nothing but post just the worst tweets about the worst anime. she watches sword art online and thinks it’s a masterpiece
43. Describe Monaca Towa in 3 words!
didn’t play drae
44. Describe Nagito Komaeda in 3 words!
kin me id
45. Unpopular opinion?
komaeda doesn’t deserve to be treated the way y’all treat him and i wish you BEASTS would treat him with any decency considering he’s actually a very interesting character but no y’all just gotta treat him like a meme. fingers in his ass isn’t even funny, man... it’s really not... it’s like the epitome of Haha Sans Undertale Cringe Epic XD why don’t you calm down and find a real jokes
46. Unpopular headcanon?
all of my headcanons are popular in my brain palace, so actually i don’t have any unpopular ones
47. A headcanon you have about a character?
i have a lot but i’ll pick just one... uhhhh oh how about this fuyuhiko and nidai are both trans men and fuyuhiko is a lil jealous/Self Conches because nidai passes better than him but nidai is actually extremely supportive of fuyuhiko and validates him every time they see each other and they become buddies
also, nidai runs warriormale
48. Favourite OST?
sdr2 island 5 theme
also enjoy the intro theme, dr1′s execution & hangman’s gambit themes and... like, a LOT of the music in general. excited on the Stonecold Jam front for v3 that’s for sure
49. Favourite mini game?
i assume this means the in-trial minigames....? i actually kinda like logic dive especially because it also happens in ace attorney which is hilarious to me, also the end comic thing? but that one is less about the minigame and more about the ART STYLE they use for it... it’s so nice
50. Favourite game design?
you know the bonus parts where it’s basically just a dating game and nothing bad happens? ign 10/10
51. Character you thought you were gonna dislike but loved in the end?
i can’t really remember, probably ouma just because i saw him and was like “oh god his hardcore stans are gonna be terrible aren’t they” but turns out he’s my little rat baby and his boyfriend is rantaro
52. Character you thought you would like but disliked in the end?
t*ruteru... what a disappointing little wretch...
53. Favourite game end?
sdr2 because everyone lives
54. Least favourite game end?
v3 is fake, refer to my above True Facts about how it’s actually in reality sdr2 again
55. Favourite love hotel scene?
i haven’t played v3
that being said i like how rantaro’s isn’t even remotely sexual or even that romantic at all but if i went into my rantaro headcanons/analyses that’d take way too long, also i’m only halfway through this thing and it has taken forever and i am so very sleepy
56. Best free time events?
basically all the sdr2 ones but ESPECIALLY komaeda fuyuhiko and gundham, i haven’t done the dr1 ones yet..., also rantaro’s

didn’t play yet
67. Which character would you never want to meet in real life?
are you fucking kidding me have you PLAYED danganronpa even amongst the characters i love are ones i literally could not physically or mentally handle being around in real life for extended periods of time. if nidai came up to me screaming about shitting i’d cower like a tiny trembling mouse
68. Which character would you like to meet in real life?
sakura oogami... i can trust her
69. Choose one character which you would take with you on a trip.
sakura oogami again because i get tired easy and she can just like... carry me if my legs get bad

83. Least favourite chapter?
84. Which character do you easily forget?

Opinion on each zanki zero character?
While I’m here, I should also answer this fantastic ask:
Anonymous said: Are the Zanki Zero characters names as stupid as Danganronpa character names? ‘cause one of the characters is named after a type of tractor
I also need to post my feelings on ZZ in general, but so far it’s pretty cool. The characters aren’t really out of their introductory shallow stages yet but they show promise. I don’t care what the haters say, I find Extend TV amusing. The game’s premise is cool, the 3D character models look nice, and the system of exploring new islands that wash up as dungeons to gather resources and get story beats is cool.
This may be the closest thing I get to DanRon Mystery Dungeon.
While I normally don’t like stories where death is impermanent, this seems like it will tackle more the psychological strain of immortality and the goal will be to get your zanki (extra lives) to zero, linking the end/goal of the game to the way it started: with suicide. If so, I’m here for that.
Anyway, my thoughts on the characters.
Minor Spoilers!
Higurashi Haruto - Basic SpikeChun VN protag so far: kinda bland, ahoge, etc. I do like his glasses, though, and the fact he was an editor. That’s a unique detail. Aside from oversleeping once, hasn’t exhibited much slothfulness, unless you count his inability to act when he and Susukino took a ride on the Tentacle Express. As for his suicide attempt (completion?), I suspect that’s true of everyone, not just Higurashi.
How Stupid Is That Name?Low. Higurashi means living hand-to-mouth, which is very on the nose for this situation (also likely a reference to that other VN series…). Haruto, like all the given names in this game, doesn’t have kanji, so it’s a bit tough to assign specific meaning to it. You could write it as 温人, for instance, which would mean “warm person”. Both names are real names, and fairly common at that.
Hirasaka Sachika - All I can say is, thank god she has a side besides “adowable widdle gurl!” because I am not a fan of that. It is cool to have a disabled character though. So far aside from Higurashi being a bit tactless and presumptive, it’s been handled fairly well? Sachika’s clearly extremely intelligent, likely playing everyone (she’s the one who urges everyone to go inside Mashiro Garden Tower), and appears to be the only character who doesn’t age. Since she’s original sin, wouldn’t that make her knowledge? Interesting…
How Stupid Is That Name?Moderately stupid. Hirasaka is a real name, but if it’s written that way, it’s pretty rare. The kanji used are “compare, good, hill” which you could take as comparing how well the others reform and atone for their sins. Sachika is indeed a name, and it could include a bunch of different kanji, including the ones for “happiness” or “knowledge”. Sachika’s name is what I’d consider to be the DR standard level of stupid.
Mikajime Ryou - His design was one of the ones I was the least interested in, but so far he’s been pretty amusing. I hope he doesn’t end up typecast as the “protag’s best buddy” type from DR. Real jealousy explored in a game like this would be pretty dope though.
How Stupid Is That Name?Well, as far as I know, Mikajime is not a real name, so we’re already treading pretty silly waters. The kanji basically come out to read “three flowers tied up” which is fitting the theme. Ryou is a very, very common male name, though if I had to hazard a guess here, I’d say it’s in reference to 量, which means “quantity” (as in, how much you have in the way of resources, and could feed into the envy theme).
Susukino Rinko - As is often the case with things like this, I like her design but her archetype is one that puts my teeth on edge. Please shake this Yamato Nadeshiko BS please, girl. Also, assign Lust to the beefcake dude, you cowards! I did like that I chose her and Higurashi as my least faves that I’d be cool with killing to complete the cloning mission, and lo!
How Stupid Is That Name?Susuki is the Japanese name for Chinese Silver Grass/Zebra Grass, which is already pretty silly given that she’s a florist. The “no” part means field, so duh on that, but it often gets used in dumb animanga names to stand in for the particle の which will make it a possessive. The reason I bring this up is because susuki is sometimes called “maiden grass” and Susukino’s sin is Lust. While Susukino isn’t a real surname as far as I can tell, it is the name of a neighborhood in Yokohama! Rinko’s a pretty normal lady name with the ko almost always being “child” while the Rin part can be all kinds of stuff, like forest, cold, and interestingly enough, ethics. …it also rhymes with one of the Japanese words for “penis”.
Kubota Zen - I am sad that this guy will likely become the Cursed Character of this game, because I actually find him pretty interesting. It’s always great to have a wild card in the mix, and while he’s being a little too openly Komaeda/Ouma-like in this instigator department, it seems more clearly to come from a distinctly different place than either of them. I dig it.
How Stupid Is That Name?Look at this fucking normal-ass name. Sure, the Ku part of Kubota isn’t the usual one, instead being swapped for the legal version of 9 (…suffering…), and yeah, Kubota is a brand of tractor, and okay, it’s a bit openly ironic to have your Wrath character named Zen, but honestly this is one of the least surprising names here. (It could also be one of the other zens, like the one from nature or something.)
Setouchi Minamo - The only thing stopping me from fully embracing this character as my fave is the fact that Nate likes her best. Design? Fantastic. Lady cop? Hell yes. Speaks in Osaka-ben?! FUCK YEAH. I like that she’s Pride, too, which is considered the worst one of the bunch (aside from knowledge, I guess) since she seems like she’s so…Asahina-like. Setouchi is a fucking cutie and I love her, the end. Pride Month, baby.
How Stupid Is That Name?I swear to god, her last name has to be a reference to the Seto Inland Sea since it’s written in Japanese as 瀬戸内海 and is even colloquially referred to as “Setouchi”. It also just so happens to be located…in Kansai! In fact, it feeds into Osaka Bay and is a major transportation hub around the Kansai region. Minamo is a common girl’s name, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen it written with kanji before. I mean I guess the Mi could be “beauty” which might fit the Pride theme? Or you could read it as a pun that means “and everyone else too” or something? The jisho is telling me that it can be an alternate way to read the word for “water surface” which could fit with the theme of being named after a sea.
Ichiyou Mamoru - Right now he’s leaning a bit too hard on the Gonta gap-moe thing, where he’s an intelligent sciencey type who’s also mega buff, but I like the idea of him being actually really anxious underneath his go-with-the-flow exterior. As long as he develops into a more round character, I will like him a lot. Also, he’s tied with Setouchi as hottest character. Not really sure how the Greed thing comes in yet though. Ugh, he should’ve been Lust, SpikeChun, get it together.
How Stupid Is That Name? Not very. Ichiyou means “one leaf” which evokes (in me at least) the idea of an Adonis statue with a single leaf over its groin. Ichiyou is a real surname, and Mamoru is very much a real given name. The most obvious meaning being 守る, “to protect” which in this case can mean his patients or maybe his dragon horde because Greed.
Mashiro Yuma - She is my favorite character right now, because hot damn, do I relate. This game is so fucking diverse for a Japanese game–a disabled girl and a chubby chick?! God, it’s like Togami and Celes had a daughter who was raised by Sagishi and I fucking love her. The Gluttony thing is pretty surface level right now, though I suspect that she’s going to be fairly relevant to the story given how important the Touwa Mashiro Group is in this world. She’s right behind Setouchi and Ichiyou for character I’d be most attracted to irl, cause I like thicc girls. Not a big fan of her fashion sense, but everything else is fucking great.I especially appreciate that she’s not really that spoiled or nasty, either? Like she’s snarky, yeah, but not the full Togami. Anyway I love Mashiro.
How Stupid Is That Name?Mashiro means “pure white” which could refer to a lot of things–being free from sin, being ironically NOT free from sin, etc. Pretty sure Mashiro is a real last name. Yuma is pretty uncommon, though. The kanji that you can use for it often include ones for “freedom” or “friend” or “kind” and so on for the “Yu” part, while the “ma” could be “center” (making her name end the way it begins), “hemp/cannabis”, or “jasmine”. It would be really funny if her given name was written as “freedom cannabis” since it would be like “free to be high”.
Terashima Shou - He’s a boke and I think his unnervingly Tezuka-like art style is kind of fun. I dunno, like I said, I don’t care what you kids think, I love manzai.
How Stupid Is That Name?I need to assume that they intend to write the surname as 照島 (illuminated island) considering the catchphrase and the locale, though I guess you could also interpret it as like “tereru” for “embarrassed”? Shou’s usually written as “soar”, but I suspect that this is just a pun based on the English word “show” (as in, TV show). Might also be a little nod to best friend Genocider.
Mirai - The straightman of the manzai team. I like her too–I think she does a great job of being expressive and her comedic timing is pretty good. She’s also fairly cute, so like Nate said, I wouldn’t mind merch of her.

What's the favorite pokemon of each person in the main cast of THH? Why?
Pokémon? While we all know some stuff about pokemon, I think we have a fair chance at thi-
W-what tHE FUCK?
You are severely under qualified to answer this ask!
… and who are you?
I guess people would know me as the one referred to as “Honorary Mod Kirigiri”, though the honorary part seems unnecessary now.
In any case, none of you know Pokemon as well as I do, so I’m taking the reins on this ask. Some characters will have more in depth reasoning than others, but I had some reason at least for all of them.
Long post, so below a cut.
I suppose I should note that I’m treating this ask as if it’s a Pokemon they have, as in Pokemon exist for real in the world for them and not just as a game. Sorry if this isn’t what you meant, but the opportunity is too good to pass up on.Makoto Naegi- RockruffRockruffs are generally seen as sociable and persistent in what they do. If there’s any claim that Naegi has to his character, it’s his unending optimism and hope, as well as how easily he gets the other characters open up to him. Even more reserved or less sociable characters like Togami or Kirigiri talk to him more openly then they seem to with others if you pursue their free time events enough. Also helping is Rockruff’s appearance, which I think few can deny that they resemble one another.Honorable mention to Eevee for Naegi though. Naegi having a normal type would be a given with how plain he is. Rockruff just barely beat it out though.Sayaka Maizono- JigglypuffI doubt this needs to be explained too much. I hate being so obvious with this one, but it just works really well, even in ways you may not have thought of. Maizono mentions how hard she’s worked to achieve her dream when you talk to her, and at the same time I can’t help but think about the Jigglypuff in the earlier episodes of the Pokemon anime. You know, the one that never gave up on it’s hope that someone would stay awake to hear it sing?I won’t deny it being a strange connection, but it kind of works. And if nothing else, they have the shared passion of singing.Honorable mention to Espurr because… well, the psychic joke was translated as esper in the version I saw.Leon Kuwata- MonfernoLeon seems like the type that would get into trouble for causing mischief, or “monkey business” if you will. Monferno is the perfect balance of still being cute enough that it would probably like to prank others, while still having the badass appearance that Leon would want in a Pokemon. It having hands it can use would be helpful as well to his talents and interests. Whether it’s trying to get Leon to actually practice for once in his life by trying to encourage him by throwing some baseballs or going along with his dream to be the ‘Ultimate Musician” by trying to play with him, I think Monferno fits well as a partner for him.Chihiro Fujisaki- RotomThis was a toss up between Rotom or Porygon, but ultimately I picked Rotom. The idea of Rotom getting Chihiro to laugh when feeling down or stressed out by possessing some kind of appliance or device was too good to pass up on in my eyes.
Rotom would be able to help Chihiro by doing that as well. Need help with a program? Rotom’s got you covered. Maybe there’s physical damage? Rotom can find that too and help find a way to fix it, if it’s possible. As mentioned before, honorable mention to Porygon. It would definitely be on Chihiro’s full team if I were doing that.Mondo Owada- Klefki…*Insert fierce key jingling here*Kiyotaka Ishimaru- RuffletIshimaru was one of the harder ones to pin down. My first thought was a flying type, but which one? Then, I found Rufflet and Braviary and knew that was it. For one, appearance wise, the feathers on its head reminded me of his hair. But it was the Pokedex entries that really got it: they never back down from a fight, taking on opponents much stronger than them without fear.He doesn’t get into physical fights, obviously, but Ishimaru is very willing to stand up for those he believes in or the morals he follows. Braviary, the evolved form of Rufflet, it willing to get into fights for those it considers it’s friends. While those fights would more likely be in verbal form in Ishimaru’s case, I think a Pokemon with that dedication is the kind of Pokemon worthy of being with the Ultimate Moral Compass.
Hifumi Yamada- SmeargleYamada is an artist, as is Smeargle…. There really isn’t any more to this pick beyond that. It just kinda goes together.Moving on
Celestia Ludenberg- GothitelleI think appearances alone could establish why this one would be Celeste’s; it goes with her aesthetic perfectly. But even beyond that:
Gothitelle is a psychic type.Celeste is a gambler.
While I don’t doubt she has an amazing amount of skill on her own, I think that the two of them together would be quite a tag team. Gothitelle is able to see the future, which could allow Celeste preparation time before going against her opponents if nothing else.(Also, sad HC: Gothitelle are able to see the lifespan of their trainers and cry when they find them out. Imagine the killing game still happening and it finding out her time left is short, and just bawling. All the while, Celeste can’t figure out why)
Sakura Ogami- ToxicroakMaybe not the fighting type you were expecting, huh? Well, obviously she needed a fighting type given her martial artist background, but I couldn’t quite give up the idea of also incorporating her death to it too. Thus, the only poison/fighting type for Sakura. I’ve no doubt Toxicroak could more than keep up with Sakura in terms of training.
Personality wise, it fits as well. It’s Pokedex entries describe it as usually laid back and willing to go with the flow, but fiercely determined when in a fight. I fell that’s Sakura’s personality as well: while she never entirely gives up her stoicism, it does drop off occasionally when she allows herself to have some fun.
Kyouko Kirigiri- EspeonPerhaps not the most unique Pokemon to give her, but I’m hard pressed to deny that Espeon really fits her. Appearance alone, Espeon matches Kirigiri’s color palette really well, and it’s movements carry the same amount of grace Kirigiri seems to have. I think Eevees in general would fit with her family; they’re super adaptable to the needs of them and their investigative styles.
Espeon, being a psychic type, has the intelligence necessary to keep up with her and her deductions and could assist in the investigation. Espeons also have the ability to sense danger, which can be seen as similar to Kirigiri’s ability to sense death approach. It also is fiercely protective of those it’s loyal too, which would be helpful in the dangerous job that Kirigiri has as a detective.
Honorable mention to Absol. It’s ability to detect natural disasters could manifest in other ways, such as the death sensing ability.…Also honorable mention to Detective Pikachu. I haven’t played the game myself yet, but the other mods found it funny.
Yasuhiro Hagakure- ExeggutorWe’ve got the character who’s more than likely a stoner, and a pokemon with the typing of grass/psychic. How can I not pair them up?
His fortune telling would probably require a psychic type anyway, so why not?Honorable mention to Slowbro for also being a very Hagakure seeming pokemon. Weed tree just wins over it because… weed tree.
Byakuya Togami- SerperiorSerperior has that smug sense of greatness befitting of one of Togami’s Pokemon. It’s got the elegant look that would probably be required to be a Togami Pokemon, as well as a massive amount of power to back itself up. Also, I mean, it’s called Serperior, so it’s fitting based on that alone.
Honorary mention to Persian. It just seemed a little too obvious. Definitely would be on a full team of his though.
Aoi Asahina- FloatzelI will go beyond Mod Kokichi’s reasoning of the float is has looking like a donut and it liking fish.
Giving Asahina a water type is a no brainer given her love for swimming, so many water types could work. Ultimately, my reasoning for this one is because of it’s notable ability to save other from drowning using it’s floats. I think she’d benefit from having that kind of partner with how often she’s in the water.
Touko Fukawa- MimikyuFukawa was probably the hardest to come up with one for. I settled on Mimikyu for one key reason:
They both hide a part of themselves for the safety of others.
For Fukawa, that’s obviously her murderous other identity, but for Mimikyu, it’s true form has been known to and people into states of shock, or at worse, death. I think they’d form some kind of bond over that fact and accept that part of one another. As for Genocider… well, I don’t have anyone specific in mind for the moment aside from they have claws. A Zangoose or a Sandslash perhaps?
Mukuro Ikusaba- BanetteI admittedly don’t know much about her, given that I’ve only seen the first game and the anime and nothing else. But Banette seems like a fitting type for part of the pair that sent the world into despair. Banette is a Pokemon filled with pure hatred and contempt, and I think that would be a Pokemon capable of bringing the despair Junko wanted so much.
Also it’s voodoo doll theme fits in with her death.
Junko Enoshima- Zweilous
Most of Junko’s team would probably be the cutesy yet powerful type Pokemon you might expect from someone like her, but I also thought her having something unexpected like this would be great. Who would expect the fashion model to have the death and destruction bringing dragon?
It’s destructive nature would be perfect for helping to spread the despair it’s master yearns for so much.

my opinion on;
character in general: i adore touko fukawa, that’s just the facts. although, for the life of me, i really can’t remember her. like, i binged both the anime and the game in like january and was breezing through all the content, so i don’t have a solid opinion on her. i believe her to be very much relatable, although in a very sad way that i believe canon was trying to get some funny moments out of. she was pushed around a lot and undoubtedly abused by togami on top of it all, as well as having to deal with her own shit ahem i’m looking at you gensyo. she is definitely my favorite out of the survivors and she deserved her own fuckin’ game with a girlfriend to match, i know that diddly darn much.how they play them: i think i don’t have much of a fair say as to have an opinion on canon fukawa bc in all actuality when i think of fukawa, your portrayal is literally the first fucking thing that mind goes to. you are certain in your portrayal and you allow no room for anyone to sway you other, for no one to question your fukawa… your fukawa just is. and i absolutely! adore her! it’s absolutely fascinating to see that kind of life given to her where canon failed, it is incredibly obvious that you put much love into her and it shows. my dumb ass loves to hear you go on and on about her, even if you use heckin’ big words to do so and i understand none of it.the mun: ah,,, yes,,, this jesus-senpai loving heathen. you’re okay… i guess? you say that i put up with you when in all honesty, you do put up more shit from me. and i cannot accurately explain… how thankful i am for that. because you listen and you push me to explore my own portrayals, you won’t take half-assed answers and i really appreciate it. and, you know, so many beautiful thomas icons now in my possession is always a plus.
do i;
follow them: hmrp with them: hmmwant to rp with them: hmmmship their character with mine: kuzukawa is cano– definitely not canon. kuzukawa is not canon and not taking over my life, what makes you say that? why… why why why would you say that?

Ky-o-ko, Na-gi-to, Hi-mi-ko !
Thank you for the ask Serahne!!! I also appreciate you censoring the names for me ^^
From here: Send me a character and I’ll list:
Kyoko
favorite thing about them: She’s a very deep character, in that throughout the story, whether you go for the FTEs or not, there’s a lot revealed about her personality and her backstory (and you have to look past what is said. Even though I am someone who started Danganronpa with Danganronpa the Animation, she still left an impact on me. She acts like an Ice Queen, but it’s more like a facade of sorts. She seems to know everything, but even she can make mistakes and false judgements. Maybe people complain about her being too cold to care for Naegi (Which I really gotta question their biases, lol), but she does care very much for him, and the rest of the class as well. I like that she was important to the story, and you could figure out what she’s like and why she is like this based on things from the main story, rather than relying solely on FTEs (that said her FTEs are really not to be missed if playing the game).
least favorite thing about them: I think I may have said this before, but for whatever reason I never trusted Kirigiri, not until Naegi almost dies for her and she’s genuinely shocked. Honestly, it’s not even Kirigiri’s fault I had such a bias against her? For some reason, it was set in my mind she was or had been connected to the mastermind, or that she was hiding something. She was definitely hiding something, and for good reason, but I guess in the end, what I wanted was for her to have trusted more in Naegi? Hmmm, that doesn’t sound right. I also did not appreciate pinning the blame on Naegi in CH5, but upon reflection, she’d never considered the danger she was putting him in as they kept getting closer to the truth that the Mastermind was trying to get rid of her. She was genuinely, honestly appalled at what mistake she’d made, I still remember the face she made and her promise to Naegi when he was about to get executed. She has done her best to make up for it throughout the rest of the series. Honestly, she’s fine the way she is, considering it was a part of her development as a character, and a set-up for CH5′s Trial and “execution.”
favorite line: "At first glance, he probably looks that way. But when he needs to, he can be stronger than anyone. He’s always optimistic. He always thinks of his friends and never gives up. Even if it means ignoring his own needs. That’s what makes me worry about him, but… …that’s why I believe in him. Yes… Back then, it was only because he was there that I could…“ So there’s a lot of more profound lines, I guess, and this isn’t even about Kyoko, it’s about Naegi, but this is her true and honest feelings for Naegi, and I really liked it! A jewel of DR3 that gets buried in a lot of nonsense, but a jewel nonetheless!
brOTP: Naegi, Asahina, and Togami! For Naegi, it’s actually the strongest one I had after finishing the Animation, given that I didn’t do much romantic shipping at that time (or even after watching through a playthrough since I’d been more focused on the story than shipping, lol). By the end of the game, her trust and faith in Naegi was really strong, and their bond was truly apparent in the game. For Asahina and Togami, a part of it is that they were among the survivors (I don’t know, I can’t picture Hiro being close to the survivors outside of standing up for them and caring for them, he’s in his own world. And Toko is with Komaru in Towa City, and apparently was never even more than an intern in Future Foundation because of Syo) Another part of it is because of the potential in their interactions! I was really looking forward to DR3 having interactions between Hina and Kyoko (And it did! Not as much as I was expecting, but it was there!) Their friendship is something I found really sweet, and by this point, they had a lot of trust in each other (Makoto included). It broke my heart seeing Hina cry mournfully for Kirigiri. For TOgami, they really do seem the type to debate over things, especially with Naegi. Naegi takes a lot of risks for a supposedly “average” guy, since he’s ever so optimistic despite the dark times. I can picture these two kinda sighing after Naegi, steering him as close to safety as possible, while also arguing for, or against, his actions. DR2 kinda solidified this for me!
OTP: I suppose the obvious answer is Naeg/iri, lol. I only really grew to understand and appreciate it after DR3, weird as it sounds. It comes full circle with what happened when Naegi’s execution fails and Kyoko throws herself into the garbage dump to rescue him. There’s a lot of trust and understanding between them at this point. And I never mentioned this before, but I also have a fondness for KyokoxHina for the above reasons stated in the brOTP section. And I’m also a little into KyokoxHajime… if you want a reason besides them sharing the ??? “talent,” then it may be them having a kinship over trying to deal with the other character’s shenanigans, and that I feel Hinata did a lot more investigating and felt more in control than Naegi did during trials. Most of the time XD
nOTP: I feel like every single time I come across this section, my immediate response is “Junko” XD I mean there’s some ships that I still don’t really get the appeal of, but I definitely don’t hate them. So I guess I don’t have one?
random headcanon: I always headcanon that she had eventually made up with her father during the schoolyear she’d attended HPA, before The Biggest, Most Awful, Most Tragic Event in Human History. Playing through V3′s UTDP Bonus mode implied she never did, which is sad, but it’s also just another AU not indicative of their real relationship. Kyoko loved her father, but simply felt betrayed for good reason, and her father obviously loved Kyoko (but then, why leave her?) I can’t remember for sure if it is ever mentioned why he leaves her, simply that he left the detective work to become headmaster of Hope’s Peak Academy and left Kyoko with her grandfather. I want to imagine they do get along since in DR0, I do believe she goes investigating the First Killing Game from her father’s inquiry.
unpopular opinion: I like Naez//ono a lot, but that doesn’t mean I want to see nothing but Naeg//iri hate in that tag/search :( Like, all these arguments that “she’s cold, she was never friends with Makoto before DR1 so they can’t be a ship if they wouldn’t have been a ship without the plot of DR1, she never had friends before DR1 are all really annoying to see. I get it, you like Naez//ono or Naek//usaba… but what is the use in complaining about canon? The only ship actually canon in DR is Izayoi and Ruruka, and that ended pretty tragically. Oh yeah, and the couple in DR3Z that got stabbed through. It’s not exactly a good thing to be canon in a Killing Game atmosphere lol. Kyoko had a lot of character development in the Killing Game that makes a lot of what they say null. She’s actually a caring person, believe it or not, and wants what is best for her friends. (This is really more of a problem with Naek///usaba fans I’ve seen, though the Nae//zono fans tend to jump in and help the kiri bashin :( ). This said, I don’t diss on the Naez///ono or Naeku///saba ships/fans. I just really wish they’d stop the pointless jealousy over Naeg///iri. Naegi//ri fans should also stop antagonizing these “competing” ships because it simply proves their points.
song i associate with them: I hope it’s not a generic choice, but Believer by Imagine Dragons. I mean, thinking about it, this suits DR in general, but this one is about personal growth by acknowledging and embracing pain. THat said, I’m probably terrible at these parts of the meme XD
favorite picture of them:
Ummm, this is probably more accurate as “favorite scene of them,” actually, lol. But yeah, I liked this part a lot! I took it from DR3 because The Animation’s interpretation of this scene wasn’t exactly done well enough for my liking.
Well boy, since I wrote a lot for Kiri, I’m putting Ko and Himiko under the cut XD
Nagito
favorite thing about them: Another very complex character! I know for most people, Ko steals the show from Hinata (I disagree with that, Hinata holds his own very well!), and yeah, Ko is probably what defines DR2, for most people at least. I like that he’s expected to be like Makoto from the start, being the Ultimate Lucky Student, claiming to be average, and he even looks up the students in the class from message boards, just like Makoto. He has a bunch of little funny moments when helping Hajime introduce himself to the rest of the class (Favorite part has to be “Bullying a girl? Not cool Hajime” XD). My first playthrough of the game, I didn’t pay very close attention to him, honestly. DR1′s strongest point had been the story, and not so much the cast (my opinion) so I expected much the same in DR2. I watched Cinnamon Toast Ken’s playthrough, so the only ones who stuck out to me at first were Hajime and Fuyuhiko. However, the second time, when I played through it myself, I actually paid attention, even went through his FTEs. Honestly, even without the FTEs, he was far more fascinating! The FTEs, however, did enhance my understanding. They were written in a way that you can believe them to be canon (this is super unlike FTEs like Ouma’s, for example, where it’s not convincing as part of the narrative). Komaeda’s mindset, his actions, and everything about him, you don’t necessarily forgive him, but you can at least understand him, to the best that you can. And that’s how Hinata feels as well. He’s a fascinating character to study, and it’s no wonder he’s really popular.
least favorite thing about them: The man has seen and experienced harsh reality, and that’s the reason for his warped perception. Still, I can’t help feeling more sorry for Hinata when he’s taking the verbal lashing that Ko gives him in Chapter 4. That really hurts, and it’s reason is not justifiable, although I understand why he did it. I’m sure that with what Ko read, the only thing he sees around him are monsters, with the worst offence being the one he thought shined the brightest. But it still kind of hurts, lol. I also dislike the self-depreciation. I kinda hope he eventually learns to love himself, given time and positive relationships. I also dislike how hated he is by everyone in DR3… like what is the reason? He didn’t do anything nearly so dangerous on purpose until he blows up the gym. If he did, we didn’t see nor hear about it…
favorite line: "It’s going to be fine… I’m pretty sure everything will work out in the end… After all…there’s no way hope can lose… Absolute hope that can break through any despair can never lose in a place like this! And not only that…I believe in you all. I believe in the time we spent together. And more than anything…I believe in my Ultimate Luck! So it’s going to be fine… As long as you believe in hope with all your hearts, the path should open…” The line gives me a lot to think about, how to interpret it. Given the context that he’s planning his own murder by the traitr, I wonder what he presumes? It gives way to theories, like whether he meant for the traitor to die or not. That said, SDR2.5 doesn’t seem to say that about him. If we go by his reaction at the end, he’s less than pleased for having been woken up by Hajime (although at the same time rather happy his classmates are alive if the smile is anything to go by haha).
brOTP: Hinata and Nanami of course. It’s pretty obvious with Hinata (and I’ll expand in the OTP section), but I do admit, a lot of the reason I like Nanami and Ko as friends/a pairing has to do with ignoring canon Nanami’s true feelings about Ko. I just think if Nanami was written in an honestly-a-kind-person way, with her goal set as watching over and trying to prevent the deaths of the former members of Ultimate Despair, then she’d be doing the same as Hinata in trying to understand Ko and keeping an eye on him (as opposed to ditching him when he actually tries to get a bit close to her in Ch4.) I always pictured Nanami giving the same amount of care to all of her classmates as she does to Hinata, and that’s where I started picturing the main trio of DR2 as best of friends! I get questions of why I like it and it doesn’t make much sense, but I just like happy platonic relationships! Not only that, but the idea of Nagito and Chiaki, the people with very strong ideals, challenging each other, is fascinating, too. Nanami is far more optimistic of equality and is ever the believer in the underdog, Ko sees the world in black-and-white, where you either are powerful and born powerful, or you’re just a mite to be stepped on by the powerful. That leaves a lot of debate, and you’d think Nanami is completely right, but Ko would have some hard-to-argue points. Hinata is somewhere in between and out there, where he’d want to believe in Nanami blindly, but can’t help but see some things in Ko’s point of view. That said, he’d have his own perspectives as well. I like the idea of them helping Ko sort out his true feelings, which he buries underneath a mount of self-deprecating thoughts, and Ko supporting Nanami and Hinata by pointing out their good and bad points (which he is good at doing when he wants to, I think). If you want runnerup BrOTPs, then Fuyu and Kaz! DR2.5 had a lot of great moments, and those AI versions of Kazuichi and Fuyuhiko really respected Komaeda was different, but not bad.
OTP: Koma/Hina(Nami)! I’ve talked about Nanami, so Hinata’s time to shine! I think Koma/Hina has the most complex and interesting relationship! I don’t see it happening during DR2 canonwise simply because there’s a lot going on and lots of mixed feelings. The start of those mixed feelings is just that Hinata and Komaeda start off in a good relationship. Komaeda is so helpful and Hinata seems him as a positive and supportive guy that he may even call his friend. Of course, that takes a turn when it’s revealed Ko had a part in the murder of the Ultimate Imposter. It’s now that Hajime feels betrayal: how could this nice and supportive guy turn out to be crazy? Maybe psychotic? Haji also has to deal with this underlying thought that if Ko was able to go through with his plan, the one he’d kill, the one who was the closest to him when he had the knife, was Hajime. There’s a lot of mixed feelings, and Haji wants to run away from that. He avoids Ko a lot, but being the kind of guy Hajime is, he still seeks to understand exactly what is going on in Komaeda’s head. He doesn’t want to be associated with Komaeda in fear of getting involved in Komaeda’s schemes, or even getting betrayed again, but he still wants to know where things go wrong, and why did it go wrong. I do think that Ko’s FTEs work well with canon, and that’s not my shippy mind saying that. Hajime has proven to want to seek the truth: he even tries to do something as dangerous as entering the Funhouse. I think that it is actually possible that he seeks out Komaeda in his free time in Chapters 3 and 4. He’s even about to forgive, or at least accept Ko at the very end of the FTE, until Ko backtracks. Ko sees Hajime, who is the leader of the class trial, who has somehow been able to get everyone by his side when it counts the most, and most importantly, does his best to be understanding of everyone, even Komaeda, and he can’t help but admire Hinata. I don’t think he even realizes his crush, at the very least not until much later. Hinata still remembers that Komaeda was so kind to him, and I’m sure it’s in the back of his head every time he sees or talks to Ko. I think people against the pairing tend to forget how appreciative Hinata was for those first moments. And honestly, it is as Ko says: These two are a lot more similar than one would think. Hajime is able to piece together what Ko’s plan was after his death because he was able to understand him, at least a little bit. There’s a lot unsaid between the two, and a lot yet unresolved (if you don’t count DR3 as a true resolution of course, hahaha). I think that, given time, after Ko wakes up, he and Hinata still have potential. They have things to learn about each other, and a world to shape and explore. I want them to be able to one day be comfortable and understand each other, because honestly they were pretty close to that even in such an environment and with such pressures. I wonder a lot about what would happen if Island Mode was canon (I mean, I can’t say I would have preferred it, but it’s a thought.) I can’t see Hinata letting Ko be by himself, ever, and I truly headcanon Hinata as willing to try harder with Komaeda. I can imagine them being able to help each other post-canon, since Hinata might not always be right when it comes to thinking in ideal situations, or maybe a part of him is still skeptical and wants to run for an easier solution. I see Ko as pointing out when the solution Hinata brings up is too ideal and will not work, or to bring up when a situation calls for a more direct approach rather than beating around the bushes. I see Hinata helping Ko accept himself and accept a happier ending, or striving towards a brighter future. It’s truly a ship that I’ve never really felt with any other pairing, with just how much longing I feel for it!
…Well, I’ve said quite enough, I think, lol. XD
nOTP: I’ve said it before, but I just…. don’t like Jun///maeda. I don’t get the appeal or attraction in it. It’s rather sickening to me, lol/ I’m also not fond of romantic Kom//amiki. It’s got a little to do with this one guy, but also a lot to do with what Mikan says to him at CH3, he looks really stricken. Also, I don’t think it’s a good idea to put to people with a lot of issues together. Even without that awkwardness of what is to come after CH3′s interaction, I can only see Ko and Mikan enabling each other’s bad habits of self-deprecation. I can only see them as friends, where Mikan tries to help Komaeda for physical injuries and sickness. I don’t think Mikan is qualified for help in mental disorders.
random headcanon: Komaeda’s riches are almost all gone, with the only thing left after Despair is a house he never loved being almost perfectly intact (He didn’t keep any valuables after his parents death, so when people ransacked his house, there wasn’t much to steal. Fixing broken windows and doors is easy compared to the burnt houses that surround it.) His house was made into a safe-haven for the ex-Remnants of Despairs on the occasion that they had to hide. No one thinks to come to his neighborhood since there are no resources left. He has started a garden there, with food that easy enough to maintain even when he isn’t present. He’s also started to pick up books whenever he is not in the house and has set up a few shelves- barely a library.
unpopular opinion: I don’t headcanon him as homosexual. I headcanon him as someone who believed themselves incapable of love or being loved. He truly despises himself so much, he never considered once that he’d ever be in a relationship. Men and women didn’t interest him, the only thing that did was their talent and capabilities. Until Hajime, of course. Haji gave him so much to think about and feel, that he couldn’t understand why, even after learning the truth, he still harboured positive feelings for him. I can’t really think of any other time he’d been attracted to anyone other than Haji or Izuru, except if you count that scene with Makoto? (Even then, it seemed a lot more like admiration of a celebrity)
song i associate with them: SO I just put my playlist on shuffle and came across The Only Exception by Paramore, and while the first stanza doesn’t apply to Ko, I can’t help but think of this as his feelings to Haji, lol. It’s a nice song, the most different from any other Paramore song to date, I think! Maybe a bit mainstream/generic, but I like it!
favorite picture of them:
(GIF by @kruisu)
He’s so happy here to see his class again, alive and well :,) I got my problems with 2.5, but Nagito being happy is not one of them!!!
Himiko
It’s probably obvious, but if you made it this far and want to avoid V3 spoilers, now’s the time to steer clear!
favorite thing about them: You ever have a talent that you really really wanted to see in a Danganronpa game, but were pretty sure wouldn’t make the cut? Himiko was that for me. Kinda. I wanted a SHSL Mage/Witch, and Himiko introduces herself as that! How very lucky of me XD Plus, it’s no secret I like Nanami, and the one voicing Himiko in the English dub was also Nanami’s! It was more of a plus than it was a reason for me to like Himiko initially, but that’s about it. I liked that she was saying she was a mage, and I guess I have a thing for the sleepy/lazy personality. However, it wasn’t really just that. I was hoping Himiko could be a person that was kind and caring. It’s not something she showcases a lot, but I believe it when Shuichi hypothesizes that what matters most to her is seeing people smile. She isn’t doing the magic shows and protecting her belief in magic just for her: she associates magic with the happiness it brings to others! I think that this view is skewed mostly because her regular audience are children that still believe in magic, rather than people around her age or older, so i’s a bit of… culture shock? to her.
least favorite thing about them: Honestly, just the story in general with her. I’m kinda wishing they just did something else with her character. She’s just made useless most of the time, or is seen as a hindrance or annoyance to the truth. Granted, most of the characters are like that, but people like to focus on her in particular, especially for what happens in Chapter 2, with her insisting her magic trick was actually real magic rather than a trick. I’m also not terribly fond that character development became equivalent to being the one who feels guilty for a character dying for her, or that she had been the easiest to manipulate into joining the Cult/Student Council. She even says in CH1 that she wouldn’t believe in Angie’s god. Except she does, even agreeing to do something dangerous (I mean, we didn’t know the pirannas only ate caracasses at the time, but neither did Angie). And then of course, the thing with Tenko. I really wish Tenko could have been able to recognize that Himiko wasn’t interested, and then that Himiko was made guilty in not having like Tenko the same way :/ We didn’t put up with this when it was Souda around SOnia, so why are we allowing it Tenko around Himiko? Oh, we know the reason why. But it’s controversial. As for her personality change: I didn’t mind it! But I can’t help but miss the old Himiko and wish she could have been more helpful in trials. The writers definitely could have written her that way, but they didn’t. I guess, what I’m saying is that I rather liked the Himiko in the UTDP world than I did in canon.
favorite line: "Nyeeeh… Motivation is rushing through my entire body. Hiii hee hee hee! This is the power of hope!“ This is not at all inspiring but I love the way she says it lol.
brOTP: So it’s probably a weird thing but… oum//eno. Kokichi was the one who instigated her to cry for Tenko and Angie at the end of Ch3, and I wish there was more acknowledgement of that. I also have a headcanon that one member of DICE was actually like Himiko, where to protect themselves from harm, they built up a world of lies, only to come across painful situations they didn’t know how to deal with. I kinda wish more happened between them, even if it’s not romantic.
OTP: I honestly don’t really have one… the closest to it would be oum///eno, but I also just can’t picture it in canon at all. I have alternate universes where it could happen, but not in canon. Not in my mind.
nOTP: I have been pretty open about it, and I know you’re rather fond of it, Serahne, but yeah. I really hate Yuma//ga, romantic or platonic. Can’t stand it, at all. I’ve blacklisted it and stuff, and I don’t really feel like ranting on about it and wasting energy. Another one, I can’t say I hate it anywhere near the same degree, but because of the fanbase, I can’t help but dislike Ten///himi. I don’t see why it’s Himiko’s entire fault she doesn’t feel the same way Tenko does about her. Tenko was actually being creepy sometimes, though she wasn’t aware of it a lot. I think that Himiko could have tried to just tell her flat out instead of beating around it and festering in annoyance, but I also wish Tenko could have give Himiko space to think about how she feels about Tenko. I also hate the fact that people don’t realize why Himiko is crying over Tenko… I’ll get to that in unpopular opinion.
random headcanon: the reason why Himiko is so into magic is that it’s always been something that gave her happiness. She had been bullied as a kid for being weird, and so she took to fantasy worlds. She’s played and enjoyed fantasy RPGs and has read fantasy books about witches, mages, wizards, and warlocks. It wasn’t until she met her master, an “Archmage,” where she found a person who understood her. Since then, she’d seen other people laugh and smile at her magic, and has vowed to continue to make people smile through her magic.
unpopular opinion: Just the fact she’s one of my favorite charactes in the series is unpopular, lol… I get it. I came into V3 already loving her without knowing much at all about her, so I saw things with a hyperfocused lens on her. I acknowledge her mistakes, her character flaws, and just the fact that she’s not a perfect character. However I also feel that people are too harsh on her and her reasonings. People love Tenko, who’s also childish and in her own world. Tenko is not even that helpful during trials, and hinders them as much as pretty much any other character. Yet, people single out Himiko as the character who is useless. Tenko had the benefit of dying on a high note, which was that she inadvertently sacrificed herself for Himiko. She also started showing less hatred towards men, and that’s character development I will acknowledge. Himiko also grows up, though. The reason why Himiko cries for Tenko isn’t because she suddenly realized her love for her, or that Tenko was a friend. She cries because she almost died. She cries because she would have died, if not for Tenko changing places with her. She now owes her life to Tenko, and has no way of paying her back. She is feeling guilty, and the way the others talk about it, how they couldn’t believe Himiko never gave Tenko the time of day because Tenko was so nice to her is just absurd to me. I don’t think they were even watching what was happening! Only Kaede in her FTEs with Tenko acknowledges this. Himiko wanted to try to be friends with Tenko right before Tenko dies, and now that Tenko’s gone, she feels guilt for not having tried sooner. I just don’t think it’s Himiko’s fault entirely and I really wish people could try to understand that her crying over Tenko is not fake or rushed. She feels so bad for Tenko having taken her place, she felt like she should die. Then, her new resolution is to live for Tenko and Angie. The only way she can think of paying back Tenko’s memory is by acknowledging Tenko as a friend. When it comes to the relationship between Tenko and Himiko, I just really much prefer what I saw in UTDP. In that alternate universe, they had time to develop a friendship and sort out their feelings. What happened in V3 just makes me groan, and how people are taking it makes me groan louder.
song i associate with them: Sorry I just love Paramore, so here’s another song by them XD Brick by Boring Brick It’s about having your dream and fantasies rushed by reality. The singer said in an interview that it was “a story about a girl who escaped reality through pictures and fairy tales and anything that wasn’t the real story. This way, she’d look perfect to everyone else and we’d all think that she’s got it together. But being that it was all for show, it couldn’t last” (I copied from Genius.com) I think that unlike every other suggestion, this is the most like Himiko!
favorite picture of them
Just so… adorable ;v; I forget to mention that I would totally see Gonta and Himiko as a brOTP! And Gundham from UTDP mode opened my eyes that they’d make a great team!
#thanks for the ask serahne!!!#mehere#ask meme#a little ship negativity and v3 negativity and yonaga negativity#i don't think having just the first names puts the post in the tag#but i do really appreciate it! you know i don't really like putting these in public haha

@triggertruth punished hope! (Togami)
It was a funny thing, pride. It was a bastion against the hardships of the world, but if you fall from it, you get splattered against the cold ground. Togami was the kind of guy who wore his ego on his sleeve. It was obvious to anyone that he was a cut above the rest, especially to him. Junko Enoshima missed the bastion of pride completely, and just saw the height. How far he had to fall.
“Togami-kun! Hey, Togami-kun! Wanna help me with a school project? Huh?”
She knew his answer already, but the despair of rejection never failed to excite her. She could always count on him for that. Maybe she could knock him down a few pegs while she was at it. At the very least, maybe she could piss him off enough to yell at her.
