What was most likely a neat head of brown waves was mussed, sticking up in a fluff as if he’d fisted his hands in it.

“What.” It was not a question as much as a snarl.

Poirot blinked at those piercing, pale eyes. Mon dieu, what an evening this was going to be.

“Bonsoir. I am Monsieur Poirot, this compartment is to be mine as well?”

1. How many works do you have on ao3? 270! I used to be very prolific in high school, but I've slowed down since college XD

2. What’s your total ao3 word count? 910,686

3. What fandoms do you write for? Tower of God, and MCYT, mainly Hermitcraft and hermit-adjacent series (Life Series, Evo, MCC, anything where a hermit may be featured)

4. What are your top five fics by kudos? The two fandoms I write for have a pretty huge fandom size difference (based on fics alone, Hermitcraft has about 4x the amount of ToG's), so the kudos difference is very drastic. Also, since I've been writing ToG for quite some time now, my most kudosed ToG fics are just the first ones I've written, since they've been around the longest. So I'll just post my most kudosed Hermitcraft fic, and my two most kudosed ToG fics, one for pre-anime and post-anime (due to the fandom explosion in between)

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? I do my best! I like interacting with readers :D

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Ooo, hmm... *filters my fics by Angst tag* *67 fics appear* Uh. Thus Kindly I Scatter is one of my first angst fics ever, and evidently it's hurt a lot of people XD. But I'll go with Ache, the first fic for one of my month challenges. That one was fun to write :D

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? I haven't written many multichaps, so I don't really have one that builds up to a happy ending. But Memory Lane is a nice fluffy one ^^

8. Do you get hate on fic? Not really, I think most of my comments have been pretty chill. And I'm not too active on social media, so I don't really pay attention if anything's been said there.

9. Do you write smut? Best part of turning 18.

10. Do you write crossovers? Not really, unless you count stuff from different MCYT series. I think it can be a big vague on what constitutes a crossover, because ccs can be part of different series

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I know of, and I hope not.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Yes! It's always an honor when someone wants to translate/podfic/create other derivative works off my own <3

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Yes! Kings and Prophets as a raffle gift fic for a fandom event. It was very fun to write (and ended up about 9x the original predicted length). Still one of my favorite fics <3

14. What’s your all-time favourite ship? KhunBam, what else XD Started with them, still hung up on them

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but probably won’t? Last I checked (a few years ago), I had 136k words worth of WIPs in my graveyard, and it's only grown since. I did have this one Gods AU KhunBam fic called Post-Immortem that I remember planning extensively, but unfortunately, I only got a few chapters in before I got bored XD. Multichaps tend to be difficult for me.

16. What are your writing strengths? I really like worldbuilding! Fantasy has always been my favorite genre, so I love writing AUs. I think I'm also decent at writing action scenes (Doing martial arts for most of my life has helped, I think)

17. What are your writing weaknesses? Characterization can take me a while to get, and also I'm not very good with writing multichaps. Long plot buildups aren't really my thing.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I've never done it extensively for a long fic, but I've done it in a few oneshots. I have some knowledge of Spanish from school, and I can speak Mandarin, but my writing is ehhhhh. I think it's fun!

19. First fandom you wrote for? Tower of God, whoo! And it hasn't changed XD

20. Favourite fic you’ve written? Oh hmmmmm, Like Seeds Scattered Across the Sky probably (beloved fae fic :3), but Dear Fellow Traveler is pretty close as well, although that one isn't finished yet. It's taken me a long time to finish, but if all goes to plan, it'll be done by the end of the month ^^

honestly not sure what conclusions can be drawn here. i try to start with a little punch but doesn’t everyone. i like starting with pronouns or names i guess. hmmm. i do try to match the energy of the first sentence with the tone of the story, but i dunno if that comes across. maybe!

Thank you so much for this fun ask!!  So cute, and hopefully no one minds me sharing more details about each piece I picked - only because I know I genuinely enjoy hearing about the creative process and what an author got out of it, or their essential “why’s” so I’m gonna list seven from the TOG fandom (because no joke, I calculated it, 96% of my stuff on ao3 is TOG lol), and with three bonus ones from other fandoms - because I have some 86 works listed on AO3 (though plenty are fanarts), but yeah, I just couldn’t narrow it down more than that lol.

In no particular order: 

Their souls were knit together (and he loved him as himself) 

I sort of consider this one my magnum opus of all the pre-canon JoexNicky pieces I had written before then.  It’s like each and every fic/meta/post/research piece led me to this one that I embarked on in the fall of 2021 (and even with some academic and religious studies, still spent a few extra weeks on research just to ensure I had a few key pieces in place).  I’m a history nerd at heart, what can I say lol.  The religious symbolism is thick and they fall in love slowly, so then, sprinkle in some historical contexts from Genova, Tunisia, Constantinople, and Crete, and it sort of snowballed to 88k in three months lol.  But there are definitely scenes from it that I’ve re-read several times over, because yeah, it just speaks to me on multiple levels, and I’m glad it seemed to resonate for a few others as well ❤️

Called you by name 

This was one of those pre-canon ficlets I was referring to just above, and looking back, I think this could easily be a sort of soft sequel for TSWKT (even though I wrote CYBN beforehand) - but it���s essentially an existential one-shot, stand alone of Nicky returning to his home land about two centuries after he had left it.  I projected a lot, but in the end it’s about faith but also the freedom to label your own identity.  I still look back at it fondly.

The Returning 

This is more of a drabble piece, based on a tumblr prompt, that I wrote for Nile - which is still one of my favorites.  Nile is a character I would have loved to explore more about/through/with due to me being a military brat, and my father being a wounded vet (my father had his TBI 20 years ago this August, and for all intents and purposes, died that day).  Between that, and her faith, there were actually quite a few meta posts I had wanted to write up, but I kept it personal to a few friends instead after seeing some discourse.  So, writing a canon adjacent Nile, instead of the modern au’s I had been doing up until then, and finally explore even some of that?  Yeah, deeply personal and I’m glad I had the opportunity to 🥹

Precious Days 

I think some of my favorite pieces are the ones that I make with others (whether that’s by a prompt suggestion, plotting together, making a fic based on art, or vice versa - and I’m so grateful for people who allowed me to sort of practice with them before deep diving into fandom events lol).  Now most of my fandom collabs have been art (but also podfics??  Who am I lol) - but yeah, this was one of those giggling with a friend in DM’s over plot ideas kind, that I still look back on fondly.  I was grateful for the opportunity to write something as a birthday gift, but also have some fun trying a different trope, and looking at it from a different perspective/lens that I normally tend to write in.  It was like this fantastic experiment, dedicated as a gift, but somehow still resonated with several readers, and it’s also one of the few fics of mine that I sometimes re-read scenes from.

Promises, promises 

One of my absolute faves because I got to explore one of my favorite subjects - interfaith dialogue - through the whole team, in this modern au, which was also a bit of a rom-com <333  Some scenes and dialogues were projected from my own experiences, and discussions, and though niche as heck, also resonated with some fellow LGBTQIA+ religious readers 💒

Should we call it TOG-adjacent?  Lol.  I adored writing Daan and Paolo, and the found family trope was THIQ within this FIC yo.  Plus, getting to write a teenager, and a preschooler?  And exploring those dynamics of building a family together?  Yesh, please - there are so many scenes from this one that I re-read just to bask in the serotonin because it’s probably one of the sweetest fics I’ve written, uplifting, romantic and soft 💕

Mixing It Up 

My Steddie fic!  I binged ST, resonated with Eddie Munson hard, and projected some aceness onto their potential dynamics.  I’ve received some of the sweetest “I feel seen” comments with this one, and some are saved on my phone on days when posting anxiety tells me not to bother.  Write the stories your teen self would have loved to read, because I guarantee there are others out there who it will speak to, too.

Pretty Ballads Hide Bastard Truths 

This was one that has fallen on the back burner due to other fandom events/projects but I promise it’s outlined and ready to resume come late summer.  Like, it’s on my list - I’m itching for it!  I adored Calanthe x Eist’s scenes in the first season, and I wanted to devour more of it, and with some loving encouragement I was glad to dedicate this one to Claz.  It’s still one of my favorites for the worldbuilding, and little nods to canon throughout, but just that exploration of growth, healing, and coming together over the years that has yet to leave my brain.  I’m looking forward to finishing it and allowing the story to come full circle.

🔥 anything tog discourse or discourse adjacent~

One of the things that I find very irksome about much of the discourse and narratives around J/N (and especially who fucks whom) is that it feels very patriarchal and heteronormative and very decidedly not queer. One of the things that I value about being queer and about queer romance stories is that we get to reject the models and expectations of society and forge our own roles and relationships with each other. So much of how the fandom seems to talk about and relate to Joe and Nicky casts them as a heteronormative married couple. And yes Joe and Nicky are boring, relative to the other characters in tog. They’ve been happily together for almost a century. But that doesn’t mean that they’re “married” or they’re dads” or whatever. And that doesn’t mean that conflict in fics about them must either stem from miscommunication (yawn) or external oppression (ouch). Furthermore, the whole who’s allowed to fuck who thing is predicated upon the assumption that penetration is an act of masculine violence/dominance, which, yes, is baggage a lot of queer people carry, but is ultimately bullshit. Penetration can mean whatever the partners involved want it to mean.

Anyways, all of that is to say that The Old Guard is amazing queer rep (because the queer characters are committed and boring and not the main characters) and the discourse around it is hardly queer at all. And that’s a damn shame.

“Pierre, what time was it last night when I rang you?” Mickey looked up at him with a sheepish smile that felt jagged on his lips, out of practice and exaggerated. The whole damned thing set his teeth on edge— he could feel himself acting in a way he rarely used to before… before.

Now, those wide eyes fixed down on him as if he’d spoken Cantonese, and Mickey was fighting the urge to squirm under the shrewd inspection from across the table from him.

“When I rang last night?” He let the edge of panic slip into his voice as irritation. “For the extra blanket?”

Pierre blinked, and it seemed as if the gears behind those eyes finally turned again. “Ah, oh oui. I must apologize, Señor— it has been a taxing morning.”

Once he settled into it, he was surprisingly not a bad liar. Mickey had to bite his cheek against the full brightness of his smile, concealing the annoying thump in his chest. According to Pierre, it had been nearly midnight when Mickey had rang him. He fetched him an extra blanket.

Poirot hummed. “On these trains, so criminally heated?”

Mickey opened his mouth, only for Pierre to smile placatingly at the man. “It’s hardly uncommon with our passengers from warmer climes, Monsieur.” He said.

Not a bad liar at all.

really i have no productive thoughts following the old guard time loop. but yeah. like groundhog day. or- have you ever seen/heard of happy death day? i feel like. That Would Be More Tog Style. but ultimately just. the immortals in a timeloop (i know there are fics out there of booker stuck in a timeloop of the Very Bad No Good Day. and there’s ONE fic at least of joe & nicky being stuck in a timeloop of their death) but i just!! i love the concept of time loop!!! it could be canon compliant/adjacent or just totally it’s Own Thing. some concepts: the whole world enters a continuous time loop and only a select few people (the old guard) are fully conscious/aware of the timeloop.

the immortals are still a thing but every time a new immortal dies for the first time a time loop starts that can only be ended by the other immortals finding them or smth?

or a similar-ish route is that. yes. they are immortals but soley in that when one of them dies. the world resets to 24 hours previous- only the other “immortals” are aware of the reset or maybe only the one who died is fully aware?? idk but yeah. everytime they die it’s a restart (maybe 24 hours back is a bit long of a reset??? maybe it could depend on how “new” you are?? or it’s just like. make it shorter?? an hour??) and like they have to. not die to have time continue on normally???

idk i should really be trying to sleep i have a very busy weekend of waking up early but i just think!! time loops are neat!! (also i could be fully willing to just commit to a happy death day au bc that franchise is [chefs kiss]) -2ta

i HAVE heard of happy death day!! i never watched it but i saw the trailers, it looked good

theres this type of minecraft you can play where if one person on your server dies, everyone else is automatically killed and you all respawn at your spawn points. which obviously creates a lot of 'oh COME ON MAN' moments & im laughing imagining that happening with the squad.

booker gets drunk and trips on some stairs and breaks his neck and rewinds 19 hours worth of a very important painting joe was creating.

nicky gets shanked in an alleyway and booker finds himself no longer standing in the middle of a dark club but rather in a public bathroom & missing his pants.

nicky has to take an exam 3 times in a row because andy kept insisting she could beat this one dude she met in a bar at a knife fight but she was drunk each time & fucked up and kept getting stabbed

Two shot: I don't know what this is referring to. Is this a fic type?

Most popular multi-chapter: A Matter of Choice! As of 29 June 2021, it has 3271 hits, 220 kudos, 135 subscriptions and 57 bookmarks (13 secret).

Actual worst part of writing: Getting the first 100 words of the day written. God, the agony of starting - especially after a break.

How do you choose the titles: Badly. My thing recently has been either one-word nouns (Faith, Conviction) or quote extracts (A Matter of Choice, A Great Big Canvas, An Ever-Fixed Mark, etc.)

Do you outline: Yes, to an extent. I'm what would be called a plantser and I write in order, start to finish. I plot out the big movements and then see what the characters do in scene. If something isn't working, my subconscious will NOT let me move on until it is fixed.

Ideas I probably won’t get around to but it would be nice: The dozens of original fics I have languishing in my hard drive will probably languish forever.

Callouts @ me: You said you would write 200 words a day. Please stop taking days off because you're """"tired"""". Everyone is tired. That's no excuse. Also, stop playing The Sims.

Best writing traits: I always know how to start strongly.

Hello ❤ In honor of the anniversary of the movie coming out this month, I am so excited to share a little project I’ve been working on - a sort of love letter from me to the fandom - that’s about celebrating some of the fic writers we have.  I quite enjoy sharing fic recs, reblogging them, hyping, etc, but seeing as it’s been several months since I’ve made a huge fic rec list (you can see that here if you’d like), I figured I’d compile another one (that features 50+ fics!). 

Because I really wanted to celebrate the broad range of characters, pairings, and find a little something for as many people as possible, here’s the layout/goals I had in mind:

Divide by Canon vs AU.  Canon adjacent were included, as well as pre/post, basically if everyone was still an Immortal, the fic ended up under this section.  Anything else, was placed under the AU section, for any time period, or world (fantasy, historical, or modern)

I further divided by the following pairings (whether canon or fanon): Andy x Quynh, Joe x Nicky, Book of Nile, and Other (which includes such pairings as OT3, OT5, or say, Andy and Nile, etc - I really tried to find at least one of each of these, for as many ratings as possible but they are rare pairs in some cases and I unfortunately was a bit limited in that regard).

Each fic is listed in descending order, starting with General Audiences, and going down to Explicit within each category.  All are completed status, and I included both one shots, and multi chapter options.

I strived to find fics, and authors, I have not personally recommended before, as well as ones who maybe haven’t received very many hits (>2k), or comments (though there are a handful of exceptions that are higher, and some authors are on here twice) - by now I know there’s some popular names out there within the fandom, and I definitely have some of those authors bookmarked and subscribed to, but I also wanted to help some less known authors/not as well known fics be seen, too 😘

Where possible I also added the author’s tumblr handles, if you see your story below, feel free to comment/reblog and let me know and I’m happy to add it  

As with any fics, mind the tags, and ratings, and if you ever need to know how to curate your AO3 search results, here’s some links that could help:

Hellooooo! I wanted to share a different part of this, but it’s not quite ready yet. Neither is this one, to be fair, it feels a little off to me, but I wanted to give you some introspection from our beloved Pierre 🥰

There is nothing for me to say but that I am sorry. I am sorry, and I hope that you can forgive me. There is nothing else I can do to make them believe me, and I will not be their scapegoat— not for this. Not when sweet Daisy’s killer walks free.

I was innocent, Pierre. Innocent in all but leaving you.

Please, make me this last promise— do not let this kill you, too. Live a life, mon petit. You’ve lived too long for others.

It wasn’t signed.

He didn’t need her to sign it. Hell, he didn’t even need to open the page and read the words. He could picture them behind his eyelids, hear her voice in his mind. He could feel the way his fingers shook, like it was the first time all over again, reading the last words of a ghost.

Still, Pierre felt close to her again when he could trace the loops of her elegant handwriting, hold the crumpled piece of paper she’d held.

It felt like reaching through the veil, touching her sister’s hand to his own through time and space.

Susanne had died terrified. That little baby had died terrified. That family was destroyed— Pierre’s family was destroyed.

At least that monster had died terrified, too. Pierre had seen it. He had looked into his bleary, drugged face, and he knew that Cassetti felt every second, wanted to run, wanted to fight, and he was trapped. Trapped like Susanne. Like poor little Daisy.

He would never be able to scrub that face from his mind’s eye.

And now he had to see it again. It was his job to find the body.

The entire Istanbul-Calais coach had dropped ten degrees in temperature by the time the plan demanded Pierre’s action. God, but it was cold, so cold. A shudder rippled through his whole body, and once it hit him, he felt as if he couldn’t ever be warm enough again.

Edward— that man’s valet— had approached him not a few moments ago, passing the proverbial baton as he came from his master’s door to request that it be opened. It was nearly the end of petit dejeuner, and if Mr. Ratchett intended to dine, he would have to wake soon.

They were the lowest of the low, The Help; and the morning had already been so overtaken with the drama of the avalanche. No one in particular paid them any mind, but their little scene was necessary. Nothing could be left to chance, not with the… unforeseen circumstances— the snow, the detective, the bystander.

The only pair of eyes that Pierre could feel on him were from one of the only quiet people in the room.

Señor Àngel had given no real protestations to the bad news of the avalanche. He didn’t look overly pleased, and Pierre saw the tension in his shoulders mounting. The way his lip twisted. But, there was no sign of the state of agitation he had been in about sharing a compartment.

He was their only audience. Pale, sharp eyes fixed on him as if he was looking for something, watching from over the lip of his coffee cup. Pierre didn’t dare wonder what he saw— what was there to be seen? He was cleaned and pressed, his uniform as pristine as ever. The red-rimmed tightness around his eyes looked like no more than tiredness by this point in the day, could be ascribed to any number of things.

What was he looking at? It prickled under his skin.

Pierre mentally shook himself, focusing every part of himself on this next task— the valet was passing him the baton, Pierre risked them all if he fumbled it.

Sorry for the bummer— poor Pierre 😩 thanks for playing, friend!

Misc Fic Folder:

“untitled document” - where I’m working on fictober fills so I have word-counts for my GYWO tracker. I am not working on these because Brains Are Dumb and also Going Back To Work Is Exhausting

I made a file called “YULETIDE!” which has nothing in it but I’m determined to finish this year so that is definitely technically a thing in the Unending WIP List of Doom worth mentioning. (Tho obviously that’s all I could say even if I had started, because anonymous.)

“coda-fics, rewatch!” -yes, that exclamation mark is important! it’s to keep me motivated! (it didn’t work). Much like untitled, this is for putting stuff so I can do word count tracking even if I don’t know what I’m doing. Currently I think it just says “MARYSE” because I was working on my SH 1x6 coda-fic and then got distracted and haven’t typed anything up yet. (Yay notebooks? Boo notebooks? Not even sure at this point.)

WNIP (works not in progress) Folder:

“TOG” - I had one vivid mental image of how Nicky & Joe met (blood-stained evil smiles?) but then no idea for a follow-up story and also the fandom is insane and I’m not sure I want to deal with all of *gestures vaguely* all that

“Shan Xia Notes” -for a TTRPG that never quite got off the ground; she was a semi-tragic selkie who was still in love with the evil queen/lady who stole her skin and I got to play her for like one session and she was surprisingly chaotic neutral, which wasn’t at all what I’d been expecting. But the game never really got off the ground, so I never had enough info to really delve into writing backstory fic

“post-Kruschev” -Kruschev’s List was the last episode of Scarecrow & Mrs King, and I was debating writing an epilogue in place of the s5 we never got, to try and tie up some loose ends, but the fandom’s three old-ladies in trench coats and I never quite worked up the gumption to get it anywhere

“Code Realize warm as silk sequel” -there is literally nothing in this file except “SEX! Only a little angst” because I wanted to write some “we can’t actually touch each other” smut but never actually did. 🤷‍♀️

BioWare (also all Not-In-Progress Anymore)

“seb/adelaide”, “Theia” & “DAI Erana” -these WIP folders were cannibalized for ficlets for the last few times I did fictober, and while originally I had ideas for longer epilogues for all three of them, at this point I don’t think any of the remaining bits could support a story any longer.

”whispers in the dark” -Maia Ryder never really got much fic at all; the cancellation of any further Andromeda stuff was really disheartening, and at this point I’d have to play the game again, and I don’t think I’m gonna manage that any time soon

”TSP” -a Mass Effect 3 Shepard AU collab project that kind of went off the rails, and our mutual brains/lives never quite seem to line up so we can try and rebuild it ”Ngaio & Tane” -my one truly ruthless Shepard (Alliance background, who romanced Traynor) whose father Tane Shepard was, I think, in PsyOps, and I wanted to figure out their complicated relationship but never really did know where I was going with it

”JE Zu & Yaling” -so I’ve rambled about my Tragic Sagacious Zu Romance Thoughts regarding Jade Empire more than once (#Icy Yaling should have most of it) but apparently I want to yell about it more than I want to actually write it? Whoops.

”CI sequel: 5 times fic?” -Cruel Intentions is a kinkmeme fill that I started and then it sat for like five years before I actually finished it, and I liked the ending, but it does leave a giant fucking question mark in terms of how those people got from there to where they are after the game, and I kind of wanted to write a proper h/c fic rather than just... leaving them wallowing in all that trauma?

But I didn’t. I don’t even remember for sure how I wanted to frame the 5/1 of it all, besides it being something sad about allowing people to see you or touch you in some way. (Prayers maybe, since I think there was definitely some Sebastian & Fenris & faith stuff going on in there.)

“candles” -Merribela prompt fill that I never was happy with? Not sure what I might do with it at this point, so it’s just sitting there all sad and lonely and neglected-like.

Shadowhunters

pt1: WIP LIST ONLY

“Persuasion” -so I keep trying to write Persuasion AUs in many fandoms because it’s my favorite Austen, but I think I like it too much, I have no real solid concept of how I’d transform it, and if I don’t have anything else to say about different characters within that framework, I have no push to actually write anything? Also this SH version of it suffered from MASSIVE scope creep when I started outlining and it got too big for me to handle so I like, killed it twice? Whoops. This one is really probably never gonna happen.

“oosdt sequel” -I wanted to write more about the Forest That Eats People and Magnus & Alec as Guardians Between Worlds, and also some background Magnus’ Found Family & Lightwood Family Feels (maybe some clizzy?) and I left a Madzie plot-thread dangling from the first one on purpose even but I think this one had too many ideas and not enough focus so it’s sort of sprawling all over a doc with a lot of “???” in it

“procedural-ish” -this was originally going to be a sex-farce. and then it turned more serious. and then maybe kind of copaganda which was uncomfortable in terms of the Everything That Is The News in 2020, and then maybe it was more a Mafia AU and at that point I had self-inflicted tone whiplash and I wished the voices in my head were a little more forthcoming about their plans so I stopped before I brained myself on my computer monitor in frustration.

“I had rather a rose than live forever” -I started a reverse!verse Malec (Shadowhunter!Magnus, High Warlock!Alec) for bingo last year, and I couldn’t quite get it together in time, so I made a moodboard inspired by the bits I’d started instead. I may see if one of my prompts from Bingo this year help me finish it?

“fall fright fest (practical magic  au)” -exactly what it says on the tin! almost exactly a year old & neglected! IDEK ANYMORE (I talked about this one with the WIP meme last time tho: here)

“priest!kink theology?” -I thought it was gonna be smut? I like priest!kink. I have made other people like it and yell at me even! But then I kept diverging into demon!Magnus thinking about Priest!Alec’s faith and as usual, IDEK ANYMORE *laughs*

(If they’re remotely canon-adjacent or divergent, a bunch of these are in here because I need to rewatch the show to get the pacing/timing/tone right and I haven’t, and I don’t know why, because I enjoy the show, but BRAINS! Are Dumb! So I guess that’s it?)

“I do” -I have tried to write this damnable Malec arranged marriage fic like six different times. I have signed up for fic exchanges and bangs with it, I have rewritten massive sections, trying to change tone or structure or POV or whatever, and it basically comes down to they like each other too fast and I keep not gutting it enough to get back to a useful pace, but by the time I realized that I was on take six and kind of sick of it. I may get back to it eventually

“wing!fic” -canon divergent in early s1, trying to deal with the consequences of Simon’s kidnapping as the Truly Serious Event that it should have been. It uh. Got heavier than I expected with those consequences (considering it was originally just supposed to be Alec’s wings flirting with Magnus) and also see above re: rewatching for pacing.

“2x20 aftermath/date night/pandemonium porn“ -yes that is the actual wip title. It used to be “spite fic” because I was originally inspired by fighting against a lot of fic!Alec characterization that was clearly based more on the books and ATG syndrome than the Alec in the show, which is the Alec I know and like and want to read about. BUT, pacing and etc. again, I think. Also I have somehow entirely lost my knack for writing porn, which makes it difficult to finish something originally intended to be smut!fic. Or even teasing almost!smut.

“rubbish heap” -so this is about three different fics that I realized complemented each other really well so they’re now all in the same file as I try to turn them into the sequel of “with an if in its soul”. It includes amnesia, parabatai lore shenanigans, a s3 rewrite, and some truly awful Owl adjustments that make me wince in horrified authorly delight and pain. BUT, as with the other ones in this file, the scope is large and I normally write short-fic and I kind of just threw up my hands in exasperation. I may have to break it back up into the three different fics instead, if I ever actually want to write it. Them? But also I need to take better notes on s3 to make sure I have what I need in here.

SH Pt 2: Started posting or not yet in hiatus because it’s actually almost ready to be a thing in the real world! maybe!?

“kisses (firsts)” -I actually started publishing this one, a “series of firsts” that was supposed to be kind of relationship milestones and kind of an excuse for smut, and then there wasn’t that much smut and I lost momentum and also dear lords & ladies the timeline is stupid, wtf. I may not ever add to this one, tbqh. It doesn’t stop in a terrible place, and they’re all ficlets so they stand alone all right.

“clizzy epilogue” -this is blank atm, it’s more a reminder for me to keep poking away at my “girls who can’t breathe air, only fire” collection BECAUSE I WOULD LIKE TO ACTUALLY GET TO THE CLIZZY AT SOME POINT

"mer!alec" -pts 2-4 of a series, but apparently having an actual plan gets in the way of me *writing* the thing, and I haven't managed to throw the half an outline far enough away from my brain to be able to write again. Or something like that.

"ibhww" -if broken hearts were whole is a soulmate fic I started a million years ago, and purposefully set aside to finish some other WIPs because I thought they'd be quick, and now it's just buried under two and a half years of regret and shame so it's hard to get back to it

"iafy" -i am for you is a delightful & frothy semi-epistolary fluff piece that also just lost momentum because Life & 2020 & etc. It's far and away the most popular thing I've ever posted on AO3, which also makes me feel weird sometimes, and I feel like the fact that there's no grand conclusion planned, just a bit more fluff and settling in, might end up being disappointing? Basically, it's the first time I think I've psyched myself out about reader expectations, and until I get over that I'm going to have trouble finishing the last couple chapters. (There really are probably only two more chapters though. IT’S SO CLOSE, I wish I could just... write it. And yet?)

“fake-hating” -I do not like fake dating as a trope that much, I just do not get it, but I love outside POVs and arranged marriages and there’s this delighful tumblr post about how they wished there was more fic about people who were together but had to pretend they werent’, and uh. This may be that? Eventually? I’m not exhausted by my failure to finish it yet, so it’s still in the regular folder rather than the hiatus folder, even though nothing’s been posted for it.

AND I THINK THAT’S IT?

Not as terrible as it could be, but still. MANY WORDS THAT MAY NEVER SEE THE LIGHT OF DAY. Posting the equivalent of one’s old ratty sketchbook is always a weird feeling. :D
