Day 1 of being an infant involved a LOT of self-discovery for little Theodore.

one of the things i see not mentioned a lot abt covid and lockdown is how it severely hindered the development of really little kids. not outgrowing biting or self-injury, or, for kids who are physically capable of not using diapers, still having accidents despite previously showing promise in potty training, or seriously delayed speech for kids that have the ability to speak, or walking significantly later than the usual milestones, or just not meeting milestones in general. kiddos, especially ages 1-5, need to be around other children. they learn through interacting with other kids their age, and their parents' teaching/only interacting with parents isn't enough to help them meet milestones. an entire generation of toddlers lost access to their biggest support during their most formative years. I'm seeing 10 year olds who still bite or self-injure and 4 year olds speaking at the level of 2 year olds. covid hurt our kids, really, really hurt them, and we don't ever talk about it

so I know some people hc that Kirby’s parents used to babysit Sam and Tara right

so what if they babysat them for a long time like since Sam was a baby

and Kirby, being 4 years older than Sam, remembers some stories and stuff of little Sam that not even Sam herself remembers

now imagine the core 4 + Kirby together having a good time and vibing when out of nowhere Kirby decides to be a menace and bring up the absolute most embarrassing story of baby Sam she can think of just to piss her off and make everyone else laugh

Harvey upgraded Thomas’ crib to a toddler bed and Fern didn’t even have to ask him to do it. 😆 One of Fern’s excellent paintings hangs above Thomas’ bed. Unfortunately for Harvey he still shares this room with his son, one day he will get his own private study.

Dear Gus & Magnus,

After work today, I put Gus's new bed together with a little help from Magnus, who used his wrench on Gus's old bed, which instantly became his bed. It was fun to see you both upgrading. And surprisingly, Magnus slept all night in his new bed and didn't get out of it at all.

UPDATE (8.12.2024): It's been ten days since Mags got his new bed and he still hasn't gotten out of it a single time. Not even in the mornings when it's time to get up. We just keep checking on him until he is awake. I don't want him to feel trapped in it, but also, I don't want to give him permission to get out of it in the middle of the night over and over. A tightrope.

It clicked. We started Potty Training a little less than 2 months ago and 2 days ago it really clicked for my son.

He just went. We came home. He took off his shoes. Went to the bathroom. Pulled down his pants and peed in the potty. I did nothing. He didn't even tell me.

And it continued. He went on his own yesterday - even at daycare. No need to remind/ask him.

Before that I always had to remind him and tell him when to go pee. He however always told me when he needed to poop. Somehow that feeling was easier for him to spot. Which I understand. 😅

I'm so happy to finally see all my hard work pay off. 😅
