📚 Five Feet Apart by Rachael Lippincott with Mikki Daughtry and Tobias Iaconis

It took me way too long to read this book, and by that I mean that I had this book on my shelf for probably years before I ever took it out and opened it. Obviously, that was a stupid move because this book is amazing. I watched the movie first, and I loved it, but the book is so much better. The book is way more in depth with their feelings and inner conflicts, and the character development is more pronounced. There is some cursing and sexual conversation to be aware of, but I highly recommend this.

I loved this book from start to finish, Stella Grant is just so funny, and Incredibly fierce, and will Newman is you Cynical schmuck, together they make a incredible love story both have got Cystic Fibrosis, and are trying to make something last longer than their time,  I love this book so much I Read it twice and now I'm reading it a third to Annotate my favourite parts as well as my Favourite quotes, because my god there was alot in this book I loved.  Would I recommend this book to people? - Absolutely. if your a sucker for sick girls falling in love and trying to juggle life and other situations, Always this book.

Eli Roth’s THANKSGIVING is coming to theaters on November 24, 2023

Eli Roth’s upcoming horror movie “Thanksgiving” has been given a release date of November 24, 2023, which is the day before Thanksgiving. The movie is described as a slasher film that takes place during the holiday, and it is said to be inspired by classic horror movies from the 1970s and 1980s

The script for “Thanksgiving” was written by Roth and Jeff Rendell, and Roth will also direct the movie. The article notes that Roth has previously directed horror movies such as “Hostel” and “Cabin Fever,” and that “Thanksgiving” is his first feature film in several years.

The release date for the movie is said to have been chosen to capitalize on the popularity of horror movies during the Halloween and holiday seasons.

Evil Dead Rise director, Lee Cronin, has lined up his next horror feature, THAW, for New Line

Lee Cronin, known for directing “Evil Dead Rise,” is set to write and direct a new horror thriller called “Thaw” for StudioCanal and The Picture Company. The plot details for the movie are being kept under wraps, but the article notes that the project has been described as a “claustrophobic thriller” that takes place in an isolated setting

“Thaw” is Cronin’s first solo writing effort, as he previously co-wrote “Evil Dead Rise” with filmmaker Sam Raimi. The movie will be produced by The Picture Company’s Andrew Rona and Alex Heineman, and StudioCanal will handle international sales and distribution. No casting or release date information has been announced yet.

Paramount will release the upcoming HE’LL COME KNOCKING scarefest from director Patrick Brice

Paramount Pictures has acquired the rights to “He’ll Comes Knocking,” a horror package that includes a script, a novella, and a short film. The package was created by filmmaker Tobias Iaconis, who is known for his work on the horror movie “The Uninvited.

The script for “He’ll Comes Knocking” was co-written by Iaconis and his frequent collaborator Mikki Daughtry, and it is said to be a “visceral and suspenseful” horror movie that takes place in a small town. The novella and short film that are included in the package are said to provide additional context and backstory for the movie.

The package was highly sought after by several studios and production companies before Paramount secured the rights. The studio is said to be fast-tracking the project for production, with Iaconis attached to direct and Daughtry attached to produce. No casting or release date information has been announced yet.

Blumhouse acquires the rights to the paranormal tale, “MR. ENTITY: The Moffitt Family Haunting.”

Blumhouse Television has signed a multi-year overall deal with writer-producer Deborah Jessica Moffitt. As part of the deal, Moffitt will create and develop new TV projects for the production company. The article notes that Moffitt has previously worked on shows such as “Criminal Minds” and “The Vampire Diaries,” and that she has a background in psychology, which she incorporates into her storytelling. Moffitt’s first project under the deal will be a supernatural thriller series called “Mr. Entity,” which is being developed for the streaming platform Peacock.

The series is described as a “creepy, character-driven supernatural thriller,” and it follows a woman who begins to experience strange and terrifying occurrences after she takes a job at a mysterious corporation.

book review | Five Feet Apart

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Quick note: I went into this book not knowing it was a novelization of the movie/screenplay. I haven’t seen the movie, so I cannot give any strong opinions on it. Thus, this is a review of the novelization and overall story, not the movie.

Five Feet Apart is about two teenagers with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) which is a genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system. During a hospital stay, Stella (who is determined to fight the disease as her lung function worsens) and Will (who is sick of hospitals and treatments that aren’t working for him) meet and fall in love despite the fact that they have to maintain physical separation to avoid potentially fatal cross contamination.

Read on for the review. Be warned, this includes spoilers.

This novelization ended up being a less pretentious version of The Fault in Our Stars (not to say this is a copy of TFIOS, they just have similar vibes). I knew going in this would be a star crossed romance (and to be honest, star crossed romances are a guilty pleasure of mine). 

What I liked:

-Romance that was not overly physical (of course) and had some really meaningful moments. I am so glad it wasn’t insta-love or overly sappy. The interactions were realistic to the characters’ ages and experiences.

-Good character arcs. Minus a few side characters, I feel like everyone in this book changed in some way or was dynamic. I especially loved the relationsip between Will and his mom--the “overbearing-to-understanding parent” trope worked well here.

What I gained the most from this was an increased awareness of CF. After finishing this, I was pushed to research more about the disease and the people who are fighting it/have fought it. I do not have the authority or experience to say this novel was a perfect super accurate representation of CF, but I can say it did a great job of getting me interested in it.

What I’m still hung up on:

-Poe completely dropping out of the story after his death. I really hoped for some sort of mention of a memorial service or tribute. I get that the focus of the novel was the romance as the story progressed, but it would’ve been nice to give some weight to the absolutely wonderful platonic relationship that Poe and Stella shared. 

-I really needed more Barb in this. I feel like her character had so much potential. I could get where she was coming from with the whole “I forbid your romance thing because you could die”, but that made her an antagonist that lacked depth because she was rather one-dimensional (except for the part about her former patients).
