while botw was about you feeling lost in a strange world with neither you nor link knowing anything and both discovering it as you go, the theme of lonelyness and isolation, freeing the spirits of dead friends you need toremember again, in the end finally reuniting with one of the only friends still alive, after a 100 years

totk should have been about community, about working together with zelda at your side, as a companion, after having been seperated for so long, and seeing nothing of the time between titles, this should have been her travelling alongside you, after botw you'd WANT to spend time with her and get to know her more, her being the diplomat, the archtitect, the scientist, the translator of old texts, a historian trying to find out the truth about what her fathers kingdom was built on, to right old wrongs perhaps, for a better future- theres so much that she should have been, so much of her character was primed to go into this direction- and instead she is a pretty prize with no personality you get at the end like this is an 80s cartoon still

(this is disregarding the whole fact that ganondorf, AS WELL, should have been a giant factor in all this, in the history of it all, to explore his character and his actions, to have zelda research and find out about histroy clearly written by the victors- theres so much potential depth here that it dirves me crazy, botw was such a set up for more that was wasted, utterly wasted, for something i wouldnt even want to call paper thin bc even paper has more depth than anything in totk)

Do you write Astarion as asexual in Perfect Slaughter? Tyrus and him would be quite compatible in this regard then.

Hi anon! Buckle in, I love this topic so my answer is hella long 😂

Astarion is not asexual in Perfect Slaughter 😊 Perhaps not so evident because it's not in his POV, but he finds Tyrus physically attractive immediately in ch2, and imagines being intimate with him again (minus the obligation of their first encounter) by ch6! Of course, that all goes to hell in a handbasket by ch7 as we know, but even if it hadn't, I think Astarion both in bg3 and PS is great representation for people who may display as somewhat ace because they're sexually traumatized.

In PS, he's often forced to go out multiple times a month to whore his body and is at the same time being preyed upon at random by Cazador, so he’s getting way too many sexual encounters for all the wrong reasons and that trauma has somewhat suppressed his desires in the midst of falling in love with Tyrus, who is a safe haven from those obligations and horrors. But sometimes his attraction jumps out at him (ch12 or 17, anyone 😏) in moments when he feels uncommonly safe and loved, and in those cases we see more of what he'd probably be like once out of this terrible circumstance and with time to heal. He hasn't actively pursued sex with Tyrus because the act has terrible, visceral associations for him still right now (and due to his worries of manipulating and hurting Tyrus). He both desires it, and is terrified by it.

One of the reasons I really like pairing him with a demiromantic asexual but still sex-positive character is because Astarion gets the chance to be loved without physical attraction and sexual desire even coming into play at first. Tyrus is endeared to him right away, wants to be closer to him, and enjoys giving and receiving physical affection, all without sex coming into the picture on his end. But Tyrus being sex-neutral/positive means that one day, if and when they finally feel safe enough, Astarion can also enjoy the sexual intimacy he still desires in PS (and clearly does in bg3, too).

Basically, I'm showering our pale boy with every single goddamn thing that he says he desires in a partner in bg3. He wants a caring partner who doesn't think of him in terms of sex? I'll write it. He wants to wake up next to a handsome virgin every morning? I'll give him Tyrus 💙

I went through some of your older posts bc I'm obsessed w your art style and I noticed you referenced Gortash ripping out pages of books that Vatil reads once or twice. I'm so curious what's up with that? Does he do it for petty reasons lol?

It is entirely possible that I'm making this up, but I swear in one of the previous patches, Gortash had a smutty book in his room that had most of the plot-related pages torn out (which in hindsight ties in nicely to the whole "babygurl doesn't have time" thing lololol)

Anyways, whether I made that up or not, it stuck with me sdasdsa- I don't think he does it intentionally to piss Vat'il off, but he also doesn't stop when Vat tells him to- and honestly wouldn't be surprised if he starts doing it on purpose specifically to make him upset

So we are approaching what is probably going to be Scary’s lowest point, but oh god I think there is so much opportunity for Terry Jr to reach out to her right now and I really really need that to happen.

Like the parallels are right there, and I think that Terry is uniquely in a position to reach Scary where she is—being manipulated by a father figure purporting to care about her but really just using her for his own ends. Like Terry has been there and lived it and almost got the people who love him killed because of it.

I think that maybe Terry forgot how he felt about Ron at first, how hard it can be to have someone come into your life without your decision and without your consent and then try to love you, because it seems like from the moment they bonded in the forgotten realms they ended up having a pretty good relationship (because Ron’s emotionally available now!). And I think that maybe he blocked it out or softened his memories and that’s why he’s struggling with Scary—he doesn’t remember how hard it was with Ron to start with and he’s just projecting the good relationship they ended up with onto Scary. But this might be a wake up call as to how far she’s slipped away. He’s watching the past repeat itself, but now he is in a position to help her.

I feel like Link is really going to struggle with forgiving Scary because his dads are everything to him and he already spent so much time worrying about Marco, and now Scary has just dragged him into this world by facilitating a murder at his dinner party. And if Grant was hurt during the escape (“you should see the other guy”) I think it would be really hard for him to come back from that. The two people he cares most about in the world have been seriously hurt by Scary’s actions and this might be a breaking point for him.

Normal I think will really want to forgive her and bring her back to them but I think he has too much of the Oak anger in him and even though he’s trying to control it, I don’t think that he’s ready for a situation like this, where Scary is probably going to do everything she can to push him away and hurt him. And I think that without Link’s support he probably won’t have the confidence to try and reach out by himself.

Taylor would probably be the most okay with the actual murder, but the fact that Scary did it without talking it through with them may seem like evidence that his dad is right and he can’t even trust his friends, and he might pull away. While I can see him trying to talk to Normal and Link about Scary’s point of view (clearly trying to be Tony Pepperoni’s friend wasn’t working, and they had already spent 2 months trying with no result, and I think that the Close-Foster-Swift family has a kind of maybe cold practicality to them at times when it’s not their loved ones getting hurt), I don’t see him reaching out independently to her. He’ll also probably be more focused on what this means for his mom and if she’s going to be safe, now that he’s seen Willy kill someone when they become inconvenient with no regards to consequences.

So I feel like it will really need to be Terry who reaches out to bring Scary back from Willy and offers her another father figure but on her own terms, and help to bridge the gap between them. Having Terry Jr look at her after what she’s done and tell her I see you, I know you (I am you), and I still love you would just be so powerful. I’ve seen the worst of you and I’m still here.

He’s not the step dad, he’s the dad who’s going to step up.

One of the biggest misconceptions I see about Laura is that she’s mean/doesn't care about anyone. Laura Kinney is not mean, and she does care about people!!! I want to make that very clear!!! She is not mean and my god, she's fucking loyal! She is literally a young woman (timeline dependent lol) who was brought into this world to be a weapon. She had no other purpose in this world besides killing, maiming, and destroying — just like all other weapons of mass destruction. That said, it’s important to note that all this affects how Laura views the world, people, and society. She doesn’t trust people easily — not even superheroes, especially after her joining X-Force and dealing with the repercussions of that. (Being shunned by the majority of the X-Men/making her feel they knew her better than she even knew herself.) After years of isolation with only her abusers/those she was made to kill, versus being thrust into this world of superheroes/supervillains where she essentially... has to pick a side when she, herself, not too long ago was the villain/monster of people's stories. It obviously creates a lot of tension, not to mention the amount of responsibility/notion of self-control Laura has to have weighing down on her shoulders... She's not mean, she's simply just... learning? And, if you're part of that core group she's loyal to, she will do anything in her power to protect you? Even if it means dying herself, which she has done for people multiple times? She literally has chopped off her own hand to save someone before — the girl cares more than anyone even recognizes. I think that's also something worth noting in this little post: Laura does not get the credit she deserves.
