WHAT HAPPENED SO FAR

The Payne family is so excited to see what this new season of life will bring! We're a Watcher-honoring family raising our ELEVEN children in Newcrest in a Watcher-honoring community, and a servant's heart is such a big theme in our family! We love serving the Watcher!

My husband Jacob was recently elected into the Newcrest City Council to be a Watcher-honoring presence in politics, making sure that the right people and businesses move to Newcrest, and to champion faith-based policies! I am so proud of him for putting the Watcher first in all of his endeavors, and for serving the public. His duties sadly take him away from our family more than we're used to, and when he's at home, he has to decompress in his woodworking shed, but we're all adapting to this new season of life together, and the children barely miss their dad anymore.

Our oldest son Aaron, who is 23 now, has taken up the family tradition of serving the Watcher by spreading the gospel through his music. He is a talented musician who is awaiting his big break in the business, and currently working a number of odd jobs to help provide for our large family.

Our second son Jason, 19, is preparing to enter university. He is called to be a doctor and serve our community that way, and while sending him to get an advanced education is a large expense, we have faith in him doing well after his excellent results at his Watcher-based school.

Our oldest daughter Joanna (almost 18) also has such a servant's heart! She is not very pretty, but she works so hard, taking care of her younger siblings and helping out with chores. I'd be worried how I could get anything done without her if she got married, but luckily, there are no young man asking for her hand yet!

Bennett, 16, is a bit of a problem child. He just doesn't have the right temperament to be a good leader and provider, like his brothers, and while he works, he chose food service instead of a more manly occupation, and I just don't know what to think about that!

Cordelia, 14, and Cecilia, 12, are like twins, they are so inseparable! They're best friends, and both have a servant's heart and help out with chores. But Cecilia has a really special talent for art, and she draws so well already for her age! She loves glorifying the Watcher in all that she does, and I've made sure that she has fewer chores and less schoolwork to do so she can work on that Watcher-given talent.

Nolan, 11, is another problem child! He is just so willful, and no amount of punishment makes him stay on the straight and narrow! I'm so concerned that he'll turn to a life of crime and drugs if we don't manage to break his spirit soon!

Eleanor, 9, Avery and Brianna, 5, and Elizabeth, 1, are our four little ones. Eleanor has such a servant's heart like her other sisters, and Avery and Brianna are as close as two twins of opposite gender can be, spending all of their time together, while Elizabeth is our smiley little baby (for now!).

Of course, we would love to welcome another blessing from the Watcher to make us a family of FOURTEEN (a dozen children, how amazing would that be?) and I'm diligently praying for the Watcher to open my womb again and bless us once more.

Northanger Abbey Readthrough Ch 19

Catherine's greatest strength is also her greatest weakness: she thinks the best of people. In general, Catherine is a lot like Bingley, she is outgoing, happy, and looking for a good time, but I think in this trait she's more like Edmund Bertram. He is also unwilling to attribute bad motives to bad actions at times...

Catherine does have the best of intentions, she wants to help her brother, but she is unwilling to see that Isabella and Captain Tilney are doing this on purpose. She is unwilling to accept that a person who behaves like Isabella Thorpe is showing their true colours, not merely confused!

She wished, by a gentle remonstrance, to remind Isabella of her situation, and make her aware of this double unkindness; but for remonstrance, either opportunity or comprehension was always against her. If able to suggest a hint, Isabella could never understand it.

Baby girl... take a hint yourself!

Isabella could not be aware of the pain she was inflicting; but it was a degree of wilful thoughtlessness which Catherine could not but resent.

There is something very similar between Isabella's conduct here and Henry Crawford's during the play in Mansfield Park. The common thread between Catherine Morland and Fanny Price is their focus on the suffering caused by these flirtations, Fanny thinks of Rushworth and Julia, Catherine is focused on James. Unlike Fanny, Catherine becomes very focused on action, but then Catherine is coming from a much more secure position and she's far more among equals than poor Fanny. We will see though, there isn't a whole lot Catherine (or Henry) can do.

Now I haven't talked about Captain Tilney much yet, but he seems to be a very similar man to Henry Crawford from Mansfield Park. Catherine generously worries that Frederick will be harmed in the end, but I suspect as with Henry, he "did not mean to be in any danger!" It's a game, Isabella is pretty and Captain Tilney is bored. As with Maria Bertram, her engagement might make it all the more fun and easier for Frederick to get out of.

“Yes, and I like her the better for it. An engaged woman is always more agreeable than a disengaged. She is satisfied with herself. Her cares are over, and she feels that she may exert all her powers of pleasing without suspicion. All is safe with a lady engaged: no harm can be done.” - Mansfield Park (Henry Crawford)

Henry Tilney is very delicate in his responses to Catherine's requests about his brother. He must know that her heart is in the right place, he's trying to make it clear to her that this isn't her battle. I am curious about how the younger Tilney siblings feel about their older brother. I can't imagine that Henry or Eleanor likes what he is doing with Isabella!

Now obviously, much harm can be done, and while Isabella is not quite as careless as Maria Bertram, who basically dropped all her attention to Mr. Rushworth, Isabella's divided attention is too obvious not to be noticed. James is visibly hurt and jealous.

No man is offended by another man’s admiration of the woman he loves; it is the woman only who can make it a torment.

I love this quote so much, because it's so true. And what Henry says next is also true: if Isabella won't be faithful with James on her own, removing a single source of temptation will not save their relationship!

This line says a lot more about Henry than Isabella & John:

Their hearts are open to each other, as neither heart can be to you; they know exactly what is required and what can be borne; and you may be certain that one will never tease the other beyond what is known to be pleasant.

Henry Tilney knows when to tease and when to be serious. As he understands how distressed Catherine is about this situation, he gives her increasingly clear and serious answers (within reason).

Catherine would contend no longer against comfort. She had resisted its approaches during the whole length of a speech, but it now carried her captive. Henry Tilney must know best.

Dying of cuteness once again. But also, lovely phrasing. I don't understand people who say the prose is bad in Northanger Abbey! Comfort carried her captive ❤️

1970. Chicago. A young woman and an older man haul supplies from their van into a rented office building. Despite her size, the girl carries much more than him.

One of the first things Charles talked about after getting out of that suit was games. Down in Rapture, he had created a marvel of computer engineering, a fully self-intelligent computer that could think, feel, and plan. The basic computing components had been copied and recreated to help Porter and Tenenbaum solve the final mysteries in curing the side effects of ADAM.

But he had a side project. A little game that could be run on the terminals of Rapture Central Computing, called Spitfire. It was simple. Just a shape, shooting at other shapes that were shooting back. But it was unique. New. The first application of computers for the sake of fun, not data processing. Charles was already decades, if not more, ahead of the rest of the world in computer science when Eleanor was just a toddler. And now, her at 19, with the rest of the world still not caught up, he could make a fortune commercializing home computers. And he still might. But it's not what he really cares about right now. He spent far too much time worried about systems, management, data, security... He wanted to use his survival as an opportunity to create joy in this world.

Eleanor took to his explanations of computers as well as he himself did at her age. She had spent half her childhood taking things apart, examining them, and wondering, when her mother was busy with her affairs. Getting to use that interest, especially to try to bring smiles to people, was almost a relief, that she wouldn't have to learn to be something entirely new to find her place up here.

"It will be hard, you know." He has a firm, rich voice. His full recovery is a point of pride for everybody involved. "Things have improved since I graduated, but... They're still not perfect. Most successful companies aren't run by a woman and a black man."

"I know we can do it." Eleanor's optimism shines past the stack of boxes in her arms full of office supplies and computer parts. "I'm not the best example I know, but I've still never experienced anything like your game before. All we need to do is manufacture it and get it into people's hands. It will do the rest." Charles laughs, softly.

"Well, I hope you're right."

Book Review

I found this book at Barnes & Noble a year ago, and I finally just read it. I was immediately drawn to not only the cover, but also the dates and years at the top of each chapter as well as several online chats and text messages throughout the story. I love books that have any sort of journal or epistolary quality to them!

The last time 39-year-old Meredith Maggs left her house was 1,214 days ago - that's over three years. She has a panic attack every time she tries to go outside, so she stays in her safe haven and keeps herself occupied by working from home, doing jigsaw puzzles, baking, and spending time with her cat whose name is Fred. She orders everything she needs online, and her best friend Sadie comes to visit her frequently. It is important to note that this book takes place from November 2018 to the following September 2019 before COVID-19 happened, so the pandemic has nothing to do with why she has isolated herself for such a long time. So what's the reason she lives a secluded life?

Flashbacks to various points in the past reveal some tragic experiences that she had growing up with her older sister named Fiona and their dysfunctional mother who neglected and emotionally abused them. The flashbacks include scenes from Meredith's childhood, teenage years, early adulthood, and a traumatic event that occurred the last time she left the house in 2015. In the present day, we watch her develop new friendships with Tom from an organization called Holding Hands and Celeste from an online forum called StrengthInNumbers who both help her begin the healing process as she also offers them emotional support in return. The reader will root for Meredith as she makes progress on the road to recovery and also faces some setbacks along the way. Eventually, Meredith is able to repair her complicated relationship with Fiona, gain the closure she needs, and slowly start to interact with the outside world again.

This book is on the heavy side because it deals with some sensitive topics and mental health issues such as anxiety and depression, but it also has some lighter moments. It's very realistic that sometimes Meredith takes one step forward and two steps back during her journey of personal growth. My only complaint is that I had a little trouble keeping track of all the flashbacks because they were in a random order. It would have been easier to follow if they had been in chronological order instead of jumping around, but I see why the author did it that way - it mimics how healing is not linear and illustrates how something in the present can trigger a memory from the past. Overall, it was a beautiful and uplifting story about strength, survival, bravery, courage, and hope.

This book reminds me of Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman so if you like that book, give this one a try or if you like this book, give that one a try!

"Ha, ha, ha. You are so funny, Eleanor" Roberta says. "But you could also come visit me, you know?"

"I know" I sigh. "But it looks like when I'm not busy you are, and when you aren't busy I am."

"And we had told ourselves that we would never become that type of friends that forget about the other when they get boyfriends."

"I don't have a boyfriend" I chuckle.

"Then what is Declan? Your secret lover?"

"Honestly... It does look like it, yes."

"But you want him to be more than that, right? For him to be your boyfriend."

"I do. But it is... complicated."

"No, it isn't. You just ask him" she shrugs.

"Roberta, Dec and I aren't like you and Mason. I am not like you. Like any of you" I whisper.

"Eleanor..."

"Look who has decided to grace us with her presence!" Sophie says, walking into the room. "Wait, did I interrupt something?"

"Nothing, don't worry" I quickly say.

"Mason finally set you free?" 

"You also are so funny, Sophie" Roberta says, rolling her eyes. "Must run in the family."

"We got it from our dad. Anyway, why are you here?"

"Can't I just come visit my best friend and her sister?"

"You can. But are you here just for that?" 

"I actually am not, no" Roberta says with a big smile.

"Oh... She's planning something" Sophie laughs.

"I am, yes. Are you girls free next week?"

"I... think so" I say. "Why?"

"Because we are going... to Paris!"

"What?"

"It’s been ages since our last girls trip, I miss it! Besides, I heard they've opened a new vintage store that is like super exclusive, and we must visit it."

"And the fact that next Saturday England is playing against France in Paris is just a coincidence, right?”

"Maybe" Roberta smirks. "C'mon, Eleanor. It'll be fun! We'll properly catch up, enjoy our time together, and then end our trip watching our men be sexy on the pitch. Maybe find Sophie a nice French lover too."

"I like how the last part of your plan sounds" Sophie smiles.

"What about that girl you were texting? Maggie was she called?" I ask.

"Wait, the last thing I heard was about a guy called... Finn?" 

"They both are in the past" Sophie says. "But having a French lover until Leah finally answers my dms sounds fun."

"Leah? Who is that?" Roberta asks.

"Leah Williamson, the football player. Sophie is in love with her."

"I'm not in love with her, but I do like her. A lot. Though she seems to be more interested in you."

"What?" I laugh.

"Oh, c'mon Ellie. Haven't you noticed the way she looks at you every time you've met?"

"No" I shrug.

"I sometimes hate you."

"The feeling is mutual" I smile.

"Imagine both of you dating football players. Your mum would go crazy" Roberta laughs. "But let's go back to what is important right now. Who is coming to Paris?" 

"I'm in" Sophie says, lifting her arm. "And maybe that new vintage shop has your birthday dress, Ellie."

"Your birthday dress?"

"The birthday dress. The one Declan likes thinking about when he..."

"Sophie!"

"What? He basically confessed it" she shrugs.

"He did" Roberta adds. "But let's make that our Paris mission: find the dress so Declan can take it off you."

"And find me a French lover."

"And find Sophie a French lover. Do we have a deal?" Roberta asks.

"Deal" Sophie answers.

"Eleanor?"

"Deal" I sigh.

"If they don't have it here, I'm giving up."

"No one is giving up" Roberta says. We've been in Paris for a few days already, and we've visited most vintage shops in the city looking for my birthday dress. They've called some of their contacts, taught us how to search for it online and even asked the brand who made it. But nothing. It's like the dress never existed.

"If mum hadn't done that cleaning a couple of years ago..."

"It still would not fit me" I shrug.

"But maybe you could have had it fixed or something."

"Good news" the shop assistant interrupts us. "We know about someone who has that dress."

"Really?" Roberta, Sophie and I say at the same time.

"Yes. It's part of a private collection, but when we told the owner that it was for the Princess of Wales, they couldn't say no."

"That's amazing!" Roberta says, clapping her hands in excitement.

"When could we get it? We are leaving in a couple of days, and it may need alterations" I say.

"We'll send someone in a bit to pick it up and take it to the dry cleaners. You can come tomorrow for a fitting."

"Thank you so much."

"Just doing my job" the shop assistant says with a big smile.

"I still can't believe we found the dress. And you look so good on it!" Roberta says while we get ready for the game. "Declan won't know what it him when he sees you. If 18-year-old Eleanor drove him crazy, the present one will... I don't know what you will do to him."

"But we can imagine what he will do to her."

"Sophie!" I say, trying to hit her but missing.

"Look at how red her cheeks have turned" Roberta laughs.

"I hate you. Both of you" I say while I try to focus on finishing my make up.

"Declan and Eleanor sitting in a tree... K-I-S-S-I-N-G! First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes baby in a baby carriage!" Sophie sings.

"Roberta, can I borrow your mascara? I don't know where I put mine" I ask, ignoring my sister.

"You lost it because you were thinking about Declan's thingy" she laughs.

"You can call it by its name, Sophie. She was thinking about Declan's di..."

"Roberta, your mascara" I insist, rolling my eyes.

"It's on my make up bag over there" she says, both her and Sophie giggling like idiots.

"Holy shit!" I scream, her bag falling from my hands.

"Please tell me there wasn't a spider among my things."

"Worse. Why do you have a photo of a dick on your make up bag?"

"What?" Sophie says, her eyes wide.

"Oh" Roberta chuckles. "I was wondering where that one had gone."

"That one? There are more?"

"Yup. Mason and I have been taking them since we first went to Italy. It's a way to stay connected when we are away from each other. We see the photos, and..."

"Wait, wait, wait. That is Mason's..." Sophie says, her eyes getting wider.

"Oh dear Lord."

"It's quite nice, isn't it?" Roberta says, looking at the photo.

"I mean..." Sophie says next to her. 

"Oh… Dear Lord" I repeat.

"C'mon Eleanor" Roberta laughs. "Are you telling me that you've never taken spicy photos?"

"Of course not! Have you forgotten who I am? Imagine the scandal if somehow someone found them."

"It would get nasty, yeah" she sighs. "Things already were like that with that paparazzi photo where it looked like Damiano was eating you out, so if they were to find one where that is actually happening..."

"Exactly. So you must be careful. If someone finds them and they recognize Mason..."

"I know, I know. We are being careful."

"Clearly" Sophie chuckles. 

"We are. This won't happen again."

"It better not. Because people will probably drag you and make you look horrible while defending him because he is a man. It's always the same" I warn her.

"I promise we will be careful, Eleanor. I will be careful."

"Great. Now, should we get a drink before we leave? I seriously need to forget about what I just saw. Especially when I'm about to spend two hours watching him run after a ball."

"Rude" Roberta laughs.

"It wasn't that bad" Sophie shrugs. "Can I see it again?"

"Sophie!" Roberta and I say at the same time.

"What? We haven't found me a French lover, but this can help... Somehow."

"Hell no. Mason is my boyfriend. That is my dick and no one else's. I'm not sharing."

"All yours then" Sophie says, sticking out her tongue. 

"Don't laugh, Eleanor" Roberta says. "She may try to go after your man next."

"Let her try" I smirk, making Sophie roll her eyes.

Gossip Girl Rewatch Final Thoughts

1. Eleanor and Lily are the best characters.

2. Serena is the dumbest girl in all the land.

3. Serena’s dad is such a loser idk why the writers made him get back with Lily at the end.

4. Chuck gave me the ick from seasons 4-6.

5. The writers stopped developing capitivating love interests after season 3.

6. Sage and her father was the most uninteresting storyline. And Serena being 20/21 (never clarifies their ages) is so gross and everyone just went along with it. Also, the writers making Nate date a 17 year old was so out of character for him.

7. I love Georgina. I wish we got more scenes with Blair, Serena, and Georgina. I hate how they made Georgina such a threat in the earlier seasons and then they made her somewhat of a joke in the later seasons. It was more exciting when Blair and Serena were actually afraid of her.

8. I’m confused why the writers just completely ignored the fact that the characters were in college from seasons 5-6. Why didn’t we get more storylines of Blair, Serena, and Nate at Columbia???

9. Dan being gossip girl is a total cop out. It should’ve been Nelly Yuki. I hate what they did to Nelly in season 6. I wish they made her a bigger deal than a fashion writer.

10. After rewatching for the 1000th time, I’m starting to not like Chuck. Idk if it’s because I’m older now but Chuck is so annoying and treats Blair horribly. Why are you wearing three piece suits???? you’re 19!!!!!

11. I honestly didn’t hate the Ivy Dickens storyline this time. They should’ve made Lola more interesting though. And I kind of liked her with Nate.

2. AOTY! I loved javelin, probably my favorite sufjan since age of adz. tied between that and influx by anna b savage. although again my real aoty was a brief history of amazing letdowns by lilys, my assigned random 90s album of 2023.

Best month for you this year? you know what I think my happiness was really evenly distributed this year. august was awesome because i saw a million friends but i also got covid so that loses some points. let's go with september a month that every single year makes me go my god i love september. went to boston and maine, saw some beloved friends, reconnected with some old friends in a really emotionally significant way, deepened some newer friendships, saw megan rapinoe's last uswnt game, had some top notch culinary experiences. and it looked like this:

19 What’re you excited about for next year? I am so stoked for next year and it's all somewhat filtered through the fact that i'll be turning 30. over the past few years I have worked very hard to put a few pieces of my life in place which is ofc an infinitely ongoing process but i am feeling very good about where i am and very optimistic about a new decade. knock on wood but based on how some things are going i think i will start a new job and that it will be great. two of my oldest friends are getting married and i'm really excited to sob through their weddings. i have been working a lot on figuring out my priorities and how to treat them like they are priorities and i just have this feeling like i am going to enter my 30s with friends i love and healthy creative habits and a pretty strong understanding of myself. and that it will be awesome.

5. Do you respond to comments?

I try to. The last handful of months have been stressful and I haven't been responding much. Or posting much. :(

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I haven't published any fics with an angsty ending. Angst in the middle, with a happy ending, is my preferred formula for comfort reads/writes. And fanfic is about comfort for me right now.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I haven't finished the Year of the Crush yet, but its ending is going to be very happy. Though they're all happy.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Nope! The TL fandom is the best.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Yes. So far I've posted one m/m smut fic, but I will add f/f to that repertoire in the next six months. (And post more m/m that I've written. And there's a possibility of a threesome.)

I'm bi and have ADHD, so I don't like to make decisions and have a poor memory. I'm into Ted/Trent in a way I haven't been into a pairing in years. My favorite canon ship of all time is Eleanor/Chidi from The Good Place. (And I was into Drarry for such a long time it would win if this was by minutes or words read, but I don't fuck with jkr anymore even in fandom.)

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I plotted out a Ted Lasso mystery AU, and wrote about a scene of it, and probably won't do anything else with it.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I think I'm pretty good at writing dialogue. I know I can capture growing fondness through a character's narration (or close 3rd person).

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

I don't describe places or people's appearances enough. And I'm not sure how much to bring those elements in throughout a piece of writing. (My imagination is only semi-visual, and I think conversationally in words; this is a big part of 16 and 17.)

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

Haven't done it. Well, I have a faint memory of there being a notebook somewhere with a character speaking Italian... Mostly, I think it has to make sense for that character to know and be speaking the language. I'd do it in the right context.

Children of Characters from Fate: The Winx Saga:

I've been thinking about making a list of the characters that I've written and that Sanya could possibly mention, there are also new children that will appear due to Sanya's Time Leap, and I thought about listing them all, even if later I'll I have to update this list, because my head keeps coming up with ideas about this fanfic! Most of these children would appear in one of the parallel stories, in this case, the four books: "Tree of Life", "New Aurora Borealis", "Lullabies Never Sung" and "The Heart of the World", are few children compared to the entire story I have already written.

I could give some physical descriptions but I will limit myself to giving a brief presentation of these children and talking about their ages, some of them are known here but others I haven't even mentioned.

Stella x Beatrix: (Let's start with the most obvious, please)

★ Estrella: She was adopted at the age of four and lost her parents due to the witch hunt that takes place throughout the Magic Dimension, she began to be raised by the couple in the middle of the political war between Eraklyon and Solaria, she is a blood witch — Current age: 19

★ Dia: Is their first biological daughter, she was born a lunar witch, one thing that's unusual between her and her sisters is that she was born exactly like her grandmother, Luna — Current age: 13

★ Ellie: Eleanor's older twin, she was born a solar witch, and she is Ignacio's best friend — Current age: 12

★ Eleanor: Ellie's younger twin, she was born a light fairy, she is in love with Thalassa. Before the Time Jump, Eleanor committed suicide due to Aaron's abuse — Current age: 12

★ Sanya: Born a hybrid, she is a massive representative of peace between the two races, she got a Witch's Hat much earlier than her other siblings and has a natural talent for brewing potions (especially poisons) but all of this was only possible after the Time Leap, she is Cadenza's best friend — Current age: 11

★ Marina: She is the first child born after the Time Leap, she is a sea witch, personally closer to her sisters, Vega and Sanya — Current age: 8

★ Castor: The only child who has Beatrix's brown eyes, she was born after the Time Leap, she is Pollux's twin sister and was born an air fairy — Current age: 6

★ Pollux: The only child born with the light green eyes of her grandfather, Radius, she was born after the Time Leap, she is Castor's twin sister and was born a forest witch — Current age: 6

★ Cosmos: Named after his grandmother (Beatrix's mother), he was born an air fairy, is the only boy in the family, and is a Stella's mini copy, just like half the children — Current age: 5

★ Cressida: She is a new species of fairy, a gold fairy, is the only one born with brownish hair in the family, she has all of Beatrix's personality and needs to take classes to control her magic — Current age: 4

Beatrix x Eraklyon's prince (relationship never consummated or existing)

★ Vega: Beatrix and Eraklyon's prince daughter, she was born through black magic and not through normal conception, which is why she has no magic of her own, as if she were made of clay, she is the rightful and only heir to the Eraklyan throne — Current age: 11

Bloom x Sky:

★ Ruben: The eldest son, he was the guardian of the Dragon Flame until Marion was born, he would possibly be Eraklyon's heir if Sky had not left the line of succession, has a slight crush on Estrella — Current age: 16

★ Marion: Their first daughter and second child, she is the current bearer of the Dragon Flame, and Domino's future ruler, she was extremely close to her mother before she disappeared, in love with Breezy and reciprocated — Current age: 14

★ Ignacio: Their third and last child before the divorce, he was born with a very small amount of magic so Sky trains him to be a Specialist, he doesn't understand why his parents separated but he loves his stepmother — Current age: 12

Bloom x Isobel "Icy"

★ Angel: She is their first daughter, she was born a heat witch, Angel has always been a little shy with her half-siblings, especially with Ruben since he doesn't seem to like her, but she has a good relationship with her other siblings, she is the future Duchess of Daniels — Current age: 10

★ Blanche: Cymbeline's older twin sister, born a normal fire fairy, generally avoids Ruben anyway because of her fear of him, but she gets along very well with Pollux and Castor — Current age: 8

★ Cymbeline: Blanche's younger twin brother, born an ice wizard, he hates Ruben because of his similarity to Sky and the way he acts with his older sisters, apart from he has a good relationship with all his siblings, but he is especially close to his cousins — Current age: 8

Daphne x D'arcy

★ Mimis: The first of their triplets, Mimis is a nymph, technically still a fairy, but she is trained by Daphne and she dreams of take up some position among the legendary Nine Nymphs of Magix one day, she is very close to Sanya, Ellie and Marion — Current age: 12

★ Mephisto: The second of the triplets, Mephisto is a fire fairy, he is very close to his cousins and sometimes babysits Cosmos and Cressida — Current age: 12

★ Malachi: The youngest of the triplets, he is a divination wizard, like D'arcy, he likes reading palms and whenever he can he practices tarot with Sanya — Current age: 12

Musa x Samuel "Sam"

★ Dorian: Their only son, Musa had him at a time when she had a relapse with Sam, but never wanted to get back together with him, so they were separated but Sam visited the boy, and Musa married Riv, who sees him as a son. Dorian is an mind fairy — Current age: 17

Musa x Riven

★ Callypso: Cadenza's twin brother, he is a mind fairy, he is extremely quiet and loves to play the drums, he and his sister use Runic Blockers at certain times because of how strong their magic is, this is due to the fact that they are the children of a Guardian Fairy — Current age: 12

★ Cadenza: Callypso's twin sister, she is also a mind fairy, unlike her brother, she is extremely active and, at times, even aggressive, Riven teaches her from a young age to defend herself, she and her brother use Runic Blockers at certain times Because of how strong their magic is, this is due to the fact that they are the children of a Guardian Fairy — Current age: 12

★ Harper: He is the youngest in the family, he has a very small amount of magic so when he grows up, Riven will train him until the day he goes to Alfea — Current age: 3

Terra x Katherine "Kat"

★ Magnolia: Mag is their first daughter, she is an earth fairy and usually helps her mother with her projects, she dreams of being a normal teenager with a peaceful life, she has a crush on Dorian — Current age: 13

★ Pearl: Their second daughter, Pearl is adopted, she is a water fairy who lost her parents in a car accident, she survived and ended up losing her sight, when she was 3 years, Terra and Kat adopted her — Current age: 8

★ Olivier: The third child, he doesn't have much magic, so Kat trains him from time to time, because Oli's dream is different, but he will gladly join the Specialists if it makes his mothers happy — Current age: 6

Flora x Helia

★ Breezy: Their eldest daughter, she is a earth fairy, she is in love with Marion and it is reciprocal, she travels daily with her mother to take care of the Alfea greenhouse, and Flora is also a teacher at the school — Current age: 15

★ Jasper: Second child and first son, he is an earth fairy, he takes harp lessons, courtesy of Beatrix, who is his godmother, and he is very good friends with Pollux, but only Fawn knows that he likes her — Current age: 8

★ Fawn: Third child and second daughter, she is an earth fairy, she lives away from home, in a nearby forest, and loves collecting seeds, only she knows that Jasper likes Pollux — Current age: 6

Aisha x Gray

★ Thalassa: She is Aisha and Gray's only daughter, she is a water fairy, sometimes while she trains with the Specialists, she also loves beaches, and Thalassa knows that Eleanor has feelings for her, but she thinks it's just a child's crush — Current age: 17

Tecna x Carmen

★ Cecília: Their eldest daughter, Cece is great with circuits, she is an human and developed an advanced paw prosthetic with her mother for her dog who suffered an accident, she also works at her mom's PetShop — Current age: 15

★ Ada: She is their youngest daughter, she was born a technomagic fairy, always demonstrating an advanced intellect, she, since Cecília has already said she doesn't want to, will take on the position of CEO of her family's Multimillion-dollar Technology Company — Current age: 6

Roxana "Roxy" x Manuel

★ Emily: Their only daughter, she was born a human but still, taking after her mother, she had a very strong connection with animals, she is the crown princess of Tir Na Nog and faces great criticism for being a human who will assume the throne of the central kingdom of the Earth Fairies (the non-magical Earth/the human world) — Current age: 15

★ Anatole: Radius' first child with his new wife, Ariana, he born a light fairy, he gets along well with his older sister after getting to know her better at the age of 11, they become close and develop a good older sister-older brother relationship.

★ Serena: The eldest daughter of Queen Krystal, current ruler of Linphea, she is great at volleyball, so much so that she would like to compete, and really wants to rappe one day but her father is very afraid of what could happen to her.

★ Orion: Second son of Queen Krystal, he takes after his father in appearance but is like his mother and sister, he is often seen skateboarding and escaping his royal duties to go to a skate park

★ Mia: Queen Krystal's youngest daughter, she is still too young for any radical activity, but she is already trying to climb the castle's shelves and furniture.

★ Ramone: Eldest son of Queen Galatea, the current ruler of Melody, and Hendrix's twin brother, he was born a mind fairy, and in terms of appearance is identical to his twin, even though it is quieter and calmer.

★ Hendrix: Ramone's twin brother, he is the second son of Queen Galatea, he was also born a mind fairy, and unlike his twin, he is much more agitated, he crawls everywhere and the maids and butlers go crazy.

★ Sophia: Selina's daughter, she is an earth fairy and is a childhood friend of Marion, as their mothers knew each other since they were young, she lives in the Forest of Flowers, in Gardenia, where her mother's old Fairy Godmother lived, and where it is now an area protected by a seal made by Flora.

Well, that's it, I'm sorry it's not much but these are the ocs that I remember at the moment, each of them with their own story, to be more exact, Stellatrix's children and Skloom and Bloomtrix's children would all appear in "New Aurora Borealis", it would be a book of maximum 300/400 pages with just one plot that would involve these children.

Bro that entire Duke I'd Like To F... anthology slaps so hard. Anyway here's my thing about Richard Armitage: I think he can do the stern older man thing well, but he can't take it too far (see: what happened in Obsession; basically, he can't inflict pain in a way I found convincing). Like, there's a sweet edge to him, you know? But yeah I'm gonna rec age-gap romances that fall within this Armitage range and others that don't.

Historical:

The Chasing of Eleanor Vane by Sierra Simone: The highest compliment I can give a book is that it made me cry and this short story (also a part of the Duke I'd Like To F... anthology) makes me cry every time. Ajax is Eleanor's fiancé's uncle, but he is also Daddy. This man literally hunts her down when she tries to make a run for it and they have lots of very emotional sex in some secluded cabin while they're stormed out.

Wicked Again by Kathleen Ayers: Haddon here is 40 and Marissa is 49 so there's your age gap, but really, Haddon is such an excellent older HR hero because he's a silver fox who knows what he wants, isn't afraid to go for it with a single-minded conviction, and he's actually a really good dad. Also, him and Marissa are HOT, like, you don't even understand... go read this.

His Beast by S.M. LaViolette: This is more erotic historical romance than purely historical romance; Malcolm's out for revenge against his ex-lover Brian (who killed his wife and disfigured Malcolm; yes, he wears a mask), and his solution is to kidnap Brian's daughter Julia. There's a lot of "IM A BIIIG SCARRED MONSTER"-related anguish but like, Julia is obviously very down for that.

What I Did for a Duke by Julie Anne Long: A classic; Genevieve is 20 and Alexander is "almost 40". He's an older, experienced, jaded man, but Gen is more than capable of keeping up on an intellectual level, even though she does internally go haywire every time Alex pulls out his excellent lines (see: "you have unconscionably soft hands" and "you have a very good mouth"). It's so so romantic and the dialogue is very clever.

Olivia and the Masked Duke by Grace Callaway: Hadleigh meets Olivia when she's a girl but nothing happens until she's 19 (which is when the book takes place). On Livvy's end, she's wanted him ever since he saw him railing (and spanking I think?) another woman in the stables, and on his end he's all "nooooooo I'm too old for youuuuuu" but Livvy's a tenacious gal and they figure it out. Olivia's friends also have age gap romances in Fiona and the Enigmatic Earl and Glory and the Master of Shadows (which also the student/teacher aspect) respectively that'd recommend as well.

Contemporary:

Both Your Dad Will Do and My Dad's Best Friend by Katee Robert do the stern older man thing well (they're the heroine's ex's dad and dad's business partner respectively). If you're looking for straight sex with minimal plot, these are great.

Also Katee's Desperate Measures has an age gap between Jasmine and Jafar (who was formerly working with her crime boss dad). And they play into it with the added daddy kink and the fact that Jasmine is quite the brat lol

If you want a lighter version of the ex's dad trope, then I'd rec Tempt by Melanie Harlow. Zach is more gruff than stern but he hits all the right notes you want in an age gap romance.

Father of the Bride by Chloe Maine: The title says it all, he's the father of the bride, and she's the maid of honor (she's turning 21 the weekend of the wedding). There's a daddy kink. There's a sizable breeding kink. What more could you want. If you like this, then I'm pretty sure every book in the Conception Ridge (I know) series has an age gap romance.

Sierra Simone does a lot of age gaps romances really well. Her New Camelot series has a fairly sizeable age gap between Greer and both Ash and Embry. Plus, Ash meets her when she's sixteen and he was twenty six so... yeah. Would recommend.

Sierra's Sinner also has a big age gap (Zenny is 21 I wanna say, and Sean is in his mid thirties) with the added taboo of his best friend's younger sister and she's training to be a nun. There are a some suuuper hot moments that kind of emphasize their age gap (there's this bit where he's looking at his Rolex-wristed hand on her thigh I think about a lot) and ultimately in the bonus content (spoiler alert), there's a natural culmination to all of this where Zenny's daddy kink is finally realized.

Some of Sierra's lesser known romance novellas with age gaps that I adore are Supplicant and Music Box Girl. Music Box Girl is a modern take on on the Twelve Dancing Princesses story and Cal is the much older, ex-military PI hired to find out where Tamsin (who is nineteen; her friends are all around that age) and her friends go every night. There's kind of a twist on the age gap thing because Tamsin reveals she has fantasies about being coerced into sex by an older man which Cal is happy to play into.

Also!!!! Sierra's upcoming Lyonesse Trilogy is going to have a relationship with a big age gap, namely Isolde and Mark. She's basically forced to marry him for family advancement, and a part of marrying Mark is that she'll have to pretend to be his sub at his DC sex club but she realizes she's actually very into it. You can read Salt in the Wound here in order to prep for Salt Kiss.

Mafia Mistress and Mafia Darling by Mila Finelli: Oh Fausto.... externally an elegant silver fox-type, internally a MESS, but also, if you're looking for the dirty older man vibes, he's a winner. Peak age gap moment was when he and Frankie decide to role-play "innocent virgin being taken in the fields"... on their wedding night. Mila's Mafia Madman also has a similar age gap, but Enzo is less stern and more unhinged (see: yacht cage).

Both Praise and Highest Bidder by Sara Cate have relationships with big age gaps. Praise has the ex's dad trope again (with a side of a D/s relationship and a huge heaping of a praise kink) and Highest Bidder has a I wanna say 25 year age gap (she's in her early twenties and he's in his mid-fifties).

The Original Sinners series by Tiffany Reisz: Okay so maybe you'll be imagining Søren as more Alexander Skarsgård than Richard Armitage. Nora meets Søren when she's sixteen and he's in his late twenties (I'd recommend anyone to read a more comprehensive review with trigger warnings before reading this series). Søren is basically Nora's lover/father figure/personal savior/priest which is wild if you think about it, or if Nora thinks about it which isn't super often apart from in Saint (well, apart from one age play scene in one book but that was less about the age gap and more about the humiliation aspect since that's one of only two ways Søren can get it up).

Both Locked Box and Act Your Age by Eve Dangerfield have age gap romances. Locked Box has a flashback scene where they hooked up without him knowing she was 18 at the time (he was 26) and he RAN when he found out. Act Your Age has an age gap relationship and Tyler is Kate's boss. Also, they do a lot of sleazy stepdad roleplay. I'd say Eve's heroes tend to be less... stern, per say, and more rough and mean, but like, consensually.

Claimed in the Italian’s Castle by Caitlin Crews: Angelina is 20 and Benedetto is old enough to have married six previous wives who have all..... disappeared. Anyway that doesn't matter because keeps fingering her at her piano and eating her out and I was enthralled.

Other authors who write age gap romances for your consideration include Brianna Hale (Control Freak and there are others), K. Webster (Skyscraper Cinderella series), and Giana Darling (The Affair is one of my favorite by her which doesn't have a super big age gap��she's 24 and he's 31, but the gap is there vibes-wise— and Giana veers into the taboo category in her MC series with a heroine being 17 and he's... much older).
