Thomas would often feel the need to ask Newt how he's feeling because of his leg pain that somehow only grew worse after being so close to the past Gone before receiving the cure;

Every time that happened, Newt would say it's fine, even if it wasn't. He knew if he told Thomas the truth, the brunet wouldn't let him help the community and work on their little farm for the rest of the day (it's his favorite activity, and also makes him feel useful).

Now that they actually had time to sit, talk and know each other better, Newt would spend hours telling Thomas his Glade stories from the time the brunet hadn't arrive yet;

Thomas would listen to it with a smile on his face, relieved that now everything was over and Next could rest and remember about the days of the Glade by the good bits.

Somehow they found an old record player and vinyls from before the Sun Flares in Safe Haven, and they sat together in silence just listening to songs for the first time.

During bonfires, Newt would stay up late chatting with their friends. Thomas would also stick around but, after feeling exhausted, would just sleep with his head on Newt's lap.

Stolen glances;

Hugs that lasted way longer than usual;

Acts of service and helping each other with their tasks once they were done with their own.

Newt started to question their relatioship after a while, especially when he would find Thomas helping or playing with the kids of the community and he noticed his heart would flutter at the view for some reason;

Thomas also started to look at Newt differently, mostly because everytime he would sleep on Newt's lap during bonfires, the blond woke him up with a sweet, low voice, whispering right next to his ear so they could get up and go to bed and his heart would stop.

Still, none of them would bring it up, afraid the other didn’t feel the same and they would only destroy their friendship.

But they didn't need to, of course, because Minho was the first one to bring up the fact they had feelings for one another the second he noticed how oblivious the two were.

-traumatized main character who is guilt ridden by all of the deaths witnessed

-kidnapped and tortured by the government guy (who also got electrocuted)

-guy who almost experiences true happiness but gets killed off

Please do forgive me for this but:

something about newt & thomas in tdc movie-verse both being wounded near their hearts once again,,

crank side of newt leaving a scar not deep but like a scratch almost as deep (i suck at describing this) on thomas’ and thomas just calling out newts name to stop him which he *does* as he snaps out of his crank side and thomas throws that knife

*but* newt and his crank side are in slight agreement of each other,, they try get that knife back and fight thomas against it to get it into himself (ouch) but newt himself would rather *not* after throughout the fight his mind changes but the crank side doesn’t— so he isn’t just fighting thomas but the new part of himself due to the flare virus

his death (movie-verse) was accidental because of the way the fight ended

thomas has a scar matching newts wound on the same placement and they’d both have it for a long time (plus newts dead soo),, left a scar on each other physically

but mentally? newt remembers at the exact moment (both verses) of his sister and all other memories of *everything* whereas thomas has to live with *later* getting these memories if he ever does and if not,, well he knows the current (now past) newt that was and they were all once friends *before*

the way they’ve been left a scar on each other on both ways.

just kidding, but seriously why is it that you hate me? i'm a decent person, i swear.

whether they wanted to be or not, those two literally intertwined themselves with one another in every single way possible it was beautifully disgusting.

i genuinely cannot imagine thomas' chip wearing down in the safe haven and him gaining even more memories of newt to mourn over– the thought in of itself is enough to injure me.

NOT TO MENTION HIM GETTING THE MEMORY OF WATCHING NEWT JUMP, AND HAVING TO COME TO TERMS WITH THE FACT THAT HE WENT INTO THE MAZE FOR NEWT ALL FOR NEWT TO DIE IN THE END.
