imagine being told at ages 16-17 that you're to be the next head of house, with the knowledge that the life you and your family live is a dangerous one. that you're responsible for each and every one of them, that it will be on you if they die.

and not only are you the head of house, but it's your say over everything. if you make a bad decision, it is all on you. imagine that type of pressure. imagine having to suddenly make all the decisions your father made before you without any sort of guidance in the transition (not that there was a transition in the first place). imagine being told all of that mere hours before your father's death.

there was no time to mull it over, think about it, or even protest against / deny the role. it is thrown upon you, whether you like it or not. one day, you wake up a son. the next, you're the next head of a dying clan.
