New Beginnings: A Wild Violet One Shot

Happy Christmas Eve Everyone! I hope all who celebrate, and don’t celebrate, have a wonderful and safe day!

I decided to repost a fic that I originally posted last year on here to my fanfic sites, with some slight edits. The fic is entitled: New Beginnings: A Wild Violet One Shot. I’ve been super hesitant to post any writing, but I thought this would be a cute little piece for Christmas Eve.

This fic takes place shortly before Zach and Violet find out they are going to have Varina, so it’s a very bittersweet moment when Violet’s battling her own fears prior to telling Zach. Below you can find a summary, list of warnings, and the links to the story! Please feel free to comment/let me know what you think!

Summary

Zach Varmitech and his new bride Violet enjoy the beauty of the winter season in spite of a tragic loss and Violet’s persistent illness. Zach is determined to keep Violet cooped up and get her to a doctor immediately, but Violet knows that what’s really happening isn’t an illness at all: it’s a new beginning.

Warnings

That is true, I figured if you did there'd be Leatherhead,Ramon,Chloe,Pigeon Pete,Krisa,Zodi,Wendy O,Kirby(hopefully),Zac(Old TMNT character from the 87 Show whose a kid that's a huge fan of the Ninja Turtles and even dressed up as one but messed up their plans)and maybe the IDW version of Muckman(who I got a pretty interesting origin for)

Those other characters aren't Splinter Clan members though! (except Wendy O. I have no good reason why I didn't include her, I'll give you that, haha) The whole point of the big shot in issue 117 was what the Splinter Clan would grow into, it wasn't supposed to be a big random gathering of every character the Turtles know.

Lottie laughed before shrugging a little and taking a sip of her drink. "What can I say? I'm a sucker for Stephen Amell. I wasn't paying much attention to the turtles," she said with a grin over the rim of her cup. "Honestly, though, I haven't really watched anything TMNT related in years," she added as she set her drink back down. "I'm more of a Marvel and DC girl. And Dark Horse. And Image. And some others. Honestly, I'm just a bigger comic book person...and yes, I know that the Turtles started out as a comic book series, but still...I don't have a good excuse for this one," she laughed. She grinned at his comment about her dedication at putting the stake in her pom poms. "There's not really anywhere else to hide it decently," she remarked with a shrug. "The last thing I need is to try and go without it and just be seen as a teenager. Honestly, I was tempted to go with her prom dress, that jacket, and boots. And carry a lighter and hairspray and a cross, but I didn't know if anyone would get it...the more I talk about it out loud, though, that may have been the better idea," she mused, laughing to herself as she thought about it. "I was going to go with SMG's Buffy, but honestly...she doesn't have anything beyond a cross and stake to make herself noticeable. If I had a Spike or Angel to pair with, that may have been a different story, though." Raising her drink at the toast, she nodded towards him and clinked her glass against his. "To underappreciated costumes and keeping the classics alive," she agreed with a smile before taking a sip from her drink again. "Someone has to appreciate our costumes. I refuse to believe that no one in this town, no matter how small, won't realize who we are and appreciate it." She paused for a moment. "I mean, I know my brother will but...he doesn't count. He's a bigger nerd than I am, and I'm pretty sure I spoke to him about my costume choice at some point," she said, taking a brief glance around the area to see if her younger brother was loitering around somewhere. "What made you choose Casey?" she asked with a smile, turning her attention back to Zac.

Zac’s eyes went wide, and he visibly winced at the mention of the Platinum Dunes TMNT movies. “Oof, you’re killing me, Lottie,” he groaned, clutching his chest dramatically as if wounded. “I try to pretend those movies don't exist. CGI turtles and weird noses? Not exactly what I grew up with,” he added, laughing as he shook his head. But his expression shifted to impressed when he caught sight of the stake hidden in her pom pom. “Now that is dedication,” he said with a grin, pointing at the stake. “The OG Kristy Swanson Buffy? Keeping it classic. I mean nothing on good all SMG, but if it weren't for the movie we might not have gotten the series later on. And anyone who thinks you’re just a ‘random cheerleader’ clearly has no taste—or doesn’t recognize a quality monster-slaying accessory.” He raised his drink in an impromptu toast, nodding toward her. “To underappreciated costumes and keeping the classics alive,” he said, clinking his cup with hers. "And here’s hoping we get at least one person tonight who’ll appreciate our references."

so for those of you who may not be aware (which is def most of you) i made a 2012 TMNT oc FOREVER AGO who is my love and one of my favorite ocs that i've ever created. isabelle is so very very important to me, and the story i wrote for her and raph got me through a REALLY difficult time in my life.

a few little easter eggs abt their relationship/characters that are in the moodboard:

isabelle's last name is gold, hence the little bits of gold in the moodboard!

she's a huge reader (bc of course 2014 me needed an oc who was just like me)

the quote in the middle, if you haven't guessed already, is from "the hunger games", which is isabelle's favorite book, and she and raph go see the movie for their first date!! (mockingjay part 1 came out in 2014, which was when i first wrote the story, so it fit so perfectly)

Last song: I listen to Bizarre Love Triangle from New Order so much recently! I love that song.

Last movie: I last watched the new TMNT animated movie but it just bored me so much. I didn't care for it and I'm generally just not a TMNT fan. The last good thing I watched was a PBS documentary about my high school and the history of integration in my hometown; the public schools have become so segregated again since most of the white people have been sending their kids to private and charter schools. It was a film so close to my heart because it was an issue I cared about so much and it continues to be important to me.

Currently watching: YouTube thangs and I've been rewatching some Cobra Kai lol. YouTube wise I put video essays and reality TV show commentary on as I do my makeup and get ready for work. First ever ship: I...have no earthly idea. So, TMNT X League of Legends is something my mind has been pestering me about for like, a few mins so let's do it

Splinter would have to be from Ionia,,,, The Foot Clan and Hamato Clan I don't think would be as prevalent as they were in in their series, mostly because of the Twilight Order being the main 'clan' in the country. Same old, same old, Yoshi and Saki fall in love with Tang Shen, Saki rebuilds Foot Clan, Tang Shen chooses Yoshi, the fire, yadda yadda yadda.

With all the grief and shit, Yoshi moved to Piltover. Yes, Piltover is now NYC. He goes down into Zaun with his baby turtles, they meet the Kraang, the mutagen thing is a thing, Zaun's severe case of plague rats transforms Yoshi into one,,,,

Now, I'm guessing the turtles would basically be Vastayan now. They go out in the night to protect Piltover, Shredder finds out, and the Foot Clan leaves Ionia to Piltover.

They get found out sometime, and the turtles now essentially have Piltover's Enforcers helping them on the case with the Foot. Vi and Raph regularly arm wrestle and Caitlyn and Leo talk strategy and fancy on the regular.

The Kraang is most likely some sort of Void species, or an extension of it. I have no idea how to implement the space shit, but Renet is defiently a Pulsefire.

I don't think Zed or the Shadow Order would work with the Foot clan. Despite Zed basically being very Shredder in their appearance, his goal is to protect Ionia, and considering that the Foot is a crime syndicate, Zed would hate their guts and try to take them down

In TMNT 1920 au who would you compare Ralph and Mona singing voices to?

Ooooooo! This is good question!!

I actually have a few ideas for some of the characters and what their singing voices are like. So basically for Raph and Mona Lisa I have at least two options for both.

For Mona Lisa, I imagine her to have a some sort of alto tone of voice so I always picture her singing voice to be similar to Annapantsu with her amazing alto voice or even Elsie Lovelock with her great energy and pitch. Mona is a burlesque dancer in the AU and burlesque dancers are often doing the most silly or crazy things so having Elsie Lovelock’s energy and voice is a good match and a good example is her cover of Prince Ali

In my oneshot Burlesque Mona sings Why Don’t You Do Right from Who Framed Roger Rabbit and I when I was writing the part when Mona was singing I always heard Annapantsu’s cover

Annapantsu has also done a cover with SonicPox of Baby Its Cold Outside and when I heard their duet, I felt like they both sounded and fit Raph and Mona’s singing voices perfectly so I’d say this is the voice style for both of them that I go by.

Another idea I had for Raph’s singing voice was Zac Efron’s singing voice, mostly in his performance in the Greatest Showman during The Other Side. I picture Raph’s singing voice to have a good tone and strong pitch.

I’m still open for ideas on singing voices and even songs to compare the characters in the AU to so I’m always open for suggests!

I said I was gonna make a post on the D20: The Unsleeping City trailer but then I didn’t so lemme do this real quick before it drops in like a week and makes this redundant and me a liar:

I LOVE urban fantasy so much and I know the idea of NY being secretly weird or magic has been done and redone (TMNT, American Dragon Jake Long, freaking Percy Jackson, just off the top of my head) but it doesn’t matter. I LOVE it and I can’t wait to see Brennan’s spin on it, especially since he’s such a huger New Yorker. And, bonus for me, I live in NY too now so I’m sure I’ll relate like I wouldn’t otherwise to certain things. 

It seems like Siobhan is playing like an old Broadway star (Bard) which is so funny and I love it so much. That’s such a good NY twist on a bard. 

Emily is just playing the Nanny. I know we already talked about that but I really can’t stress that fact enough and I love it. She’s a drunken master monk which I didn’t know was a thing but I’m sure will be WILD. 

Also, Murph deciding to play Master Splinter has the exact same energy has Emily playing The Nanny. Surprised that he’s not the monk (he’s a druid, which is something he has a lot of second hand experience with via naddpod). 

I love Gorgug so much but I also saw the character art for the hot firefighter Paladin he’s playing and fell in love so I have 100% faith that he’s gonna pull through with another bomb, lovable character.  

Someone as chaotic as Ally playing a wild magic sorcerer sounds like it’s gonna be the best kind of mess. I thought Pete was gonna be a gunslinger (you know, because of the *gun*) but this is way wilder. 

Lou as a cleric gives my brain the same, “what?” reaction as trying to picture Zac playing a villain so I very much cannot wait to see what that looks like. Although, in fairness, the support classes we’ve had on D20 so far have been Fig, Kristen, and Efink who are all pretty bombastic.

Also, interesting to note that they’re all going to be playing adults this time around so the dynamic will inevitably be pretty different.

Anyway, I’m psyched as hell! Can’t wait to see how everyone tries to break Brennan this time around.
